Lucy listened to James as he told her that she was allowed to think of herself in this private moment with him. It was just the two of them after all. Her siblings wouldn't be able to see her fall apart if she wished too and they would continue to think that she could handle whatever the world through at her. And for the most part, she could. It wasn't every day that she killed someone, although now it seemed like that would become a thing. This was just something that Lucy had to get use to.

As James began to describe what the men could have had in their lives, she felt did begin to feel something. It was sadness, and a bit of relief. She felt the familiar sting of tears in her eyes and moved to hide her face, looking towards the fireplace again and letting her hair cover her face from James' view. Crying was something that she never liked to do in front of people, she had been the same way as a little girl. Being terribly embarrassed about it when she did, she normally cried in the privacy of her bedroom. But this was James, he was older than her by a few years and he wasn't someone that could be shaken very easily. He was her rock. She moved her arm from behind her and wrapped it gently around his chest. The slight shake of her shoulders indicated she was crying, though she didn't make any sound.

But as she continued to cry, she became even more ashamed of herself. James had been through worse than her tonight, and he was as calm as ever. He could have died, and yet here he was comforting her when she need it.

James Porter

James didn't like making women cry and he himself didn't much care about the men she had killed. They'd threatened Sinead and Lucy. He did care about Lucy's mind though and he knew she needed a release.

When she wrapped her arm around his chest, he could tell by her shaking that she was crying. With his arm still around her shoulder, he began to softly rub her back. "It's okay, Lucy. You cry as much as you need to. I'm not going anywhere," he promised. His own eyes were by now beginning to water. "I know I can't always be where you are, but if I can help it, you won't have to defend yourself against anyone like that again." He hoped this wasn't his fault, that he hadn't made it seem so easy to take another person's life. The last thing he wanted was to turn Lucy into someone like him. He loved her beyond belief and didn't want to lose her or be responsible for changing her.

Leo smiled as he looked to Kanai, now tired out and leaning against Athena. He figured they were both pretty much ready to head home for the night, so he wouldn't prolong their tiredness by ordering another drink.

"A boring Friday?! We can't be having that, can we? I had a few ideas of things I could do on Friday, but I guess that would all depend on the answer to my next question," he began, with a slightly nervous smile. "Would you like to come out with me on Friday, for a date? Or if you don't want to go on a date, just to hang out?" he asked her. "We could go for a meal, a drive, hang out on the pier? I haven't been to the pier since spring, so it might be fun to see what cool things are there now it's nearly Halloween..."

Athena smiled, as he told her he had a few things in mind for Friday. Her curiosity piqued once he told her that it would all depend on her answer to his next question. She smiled, noticing the little nervous smile. What question would he be asking?

Once hearing said question, a light shy smile formed.
A date? Athena wouldn't be opposed to it but she wasn't expecting that Leo would be interested in having a date with her.
He then went on to say the two could just hang out together if a date wasn't possible, they could just hang out together.

"Oh, I wouldn't mind a date actually." Athena answered softly with a slight soft smile.
She listened as he listed possible things for them to do together. Her eyes lit up once he mentioned the pier. "Oh, I haven't been to the pier in a while either. That should be exciting to see." She noted with a small happy smile.

Chapter 7: For the Taking - Part 2
Friday 13th October 1948
Evening – Mild, dry, clear skies

Navy Pier

Sandro Davide had arrived at the pier much earlier than planned. With his car parked up, he'd been sat carefully watching everyone coming and going. Underneath the passenger seat of his car was the bag full of cash to be exchanged for the weapons which were then to be delivered to Vinnie. Earlier in the day, Sandro had another argument with Leo. When he found out his son was heading to the pier this evening, he tried to get him to help out with the job. Leo refused, as usual, and that resulted in the pair disagreeing. Regardless, Leo had not changed his plans for the evening and Sandro couldn't change his plans if he wanted to. Not unless he wanted to face Vinnie's wrath.

The Lakeside Restaurant
Sinead Sullivan

Sinead had been working since the early afternoon. Mr Buchanan had talked her into working longer shifts which didn't just involve playing the piano. Not only had she been singing to the guests celebrating their birthdays in the restaurant, but she'd also been greeting the customers and showing them to their tables. Sinead had enjoyed her shift as it felt good to meet new people and see everyone just enjoying themselves, for a change. It was nice being able to relax for the day and around people who knew very little about her personal life. Having started early, it was 7pm when she finished her shift and that meant she'd been able to accept Angel's invitation for another date. She wasn't yet sure where they would be going this evening, but she had arranged to meet him a couple of blocks away from the restaurant.

After leaving out of the back door of the restaurant, she walked down the quiet street. It wasn't too cold, but Sinead put her coat on as she felt a little more secure beneath its warmth. It wasn't even meeting Angel that made her feel wary, it was what had happened the previous weekend that made her cautious. That man who tried forcing her to dance said he knew where she worked and even though he was dead, it still made her wonder who else could be paying attention to her.

Sinead finally made it to where she was going to meet Angel. It was a relatively public area outside some small cafes, so she would feel safe if she had to wait on her own for long. She knew sneaking around behind her family was wrong and she would never otherwise betray them, but Angel made her feel good. Their last date had done a lot for her well-being and confidence, so she wanted to spend more time with the man who made her feel so happy.

The Emerald Pub
Conor Sullivan

Conor had shown Finn and Maggie around his pub a few days earlier, preparing for at least Finn to start working behind the bar this evening. With Cassie taking some days off and one of the others being ill, there was only Harry available this evening. Conor had therefore asked Maggie to work alongside Finn and Harry. All would be paid, of course. Conor had his own plans for the evening and none of them involved things he could tell his family. He doubted they'd approve of the drugs, regardless of the deal meaning the Sullivans had additional men on side. If he happened to bump into Alex tonight, he knew for a fact his family would not approve of that either.

For now, the pub wasn't overly busy and Conor was spending some time with his cousins, making sure they knew what they were doing. Standing between Maggie and Finn, he placed his arms around their shoulders. "What do you think, kids?" he happily asked them. "Reckon you can do this without the pub falling down?" he teased.

The Romano House

Vinnie wasn't even trying to hide the smug expression from his face as he made his way downstairs. Following the meeting at the casino and Albert's unfortunate death, the business was as good as Vinnie's. He was heading over to Aces Casino soon to finalise the deal with Dawson and complete the handover. When he entered the lounge, he saw two of his kids still home.

"What are you two up to this evening?" Vinnie asked Nicolo and Alex. Regardless of their answer, Vinnie looked to Nicolo. "Did you manage to find any information out about who blew the warehouse up?" he asked. Sure, he knew it was the Sullivans, but Vinnie preferred to know every detail, down to which scumbag lit the fuse. Given that he had other exchanges going on this evening, including the weapons, he wanted to be sure the assholes responsible couldn't compromise anything else.

The Sullivan House

James Porter

gfvhg.png
With a few of the family members already out and Shannon in her study drawing, the house was relatively quiet. After what had happened on Sunday and hearing about Lucy's fears, James had decided to leave David and the others to do any of the evening's jobs. Instead, James told Lucy they would have a normal Friday night without any stealing, shooting or plotting.

As he waited for Lucy to get ready, James was sat on the sofa stroking Lady as she sat up on his lap. Once Lucy came downstairs, he would look to her and smile. "What do you fancy doing then? We could go for a walk by the lake, go for a meal, hang around the Emerald or even pay a visit to the pier. Even a combination of those things?" he asked, suggesting the things normal couples would likely get up to.

Athena's Place
Leo Davide

150498307263197.jpg
Leo had been really happy when Athena agreed to go on the date with him. Despite his earlier argument with his father and knowing there was some sort of job going on, Leo didn't want to mess Athena around by cancelling their date. He would just make sure they avoided bumping into Sandro or any other dodgy-looking people.

When he arrived outside Athena's place, he got out of his car and knocked on the door to alert her to his arrival. Once she answered, he would smile brightly to her. "Are you ready to hop onto a carousel and eat way too much cotton candy?" he happily asked her.

The weekend before had been rough for everyone once again. And the whole week everyone seemed to have recovered. It was nice to have the house back to relatively normal. However, when James told her that they were going out tonight, she was a bit confused. She knew that there was plenty of jobs for him to be doing with David and the rest of them but he chose to stay with her...Lucy was happy about it but at the same time she wondered if she was keeping him from doing what he wanted to do. It would be nice to spend some time with him again without having to be getting shot at though..

Lucy was in her room quickly throwing on a trousers and a long sleeve shirt to go with it before grabbing a coat and heading down the stairs. Lucy saw James and Lady sitting on the couch together, now not so little as she was before. The little pup loved that man more than she probably loved Lucy, but she definitely didn't mind it at all. "Hmmmm...so many choices. Wanna go to the Emerald before heading down to the pier? I haven't been to the pier in ages." She told him lightly before moving to put on her coat. Looking to Lady, she jumped down from James' lap thinking she would be going with them again. Lucy crouched down and stroke the dogs fur, "Sorry love, not tonight." She murmured to her before standing back up and holding her hand out to James. "Shall we?"

Finn was ready for the week ahead of him. Conor had shown him around the pub only a few days earlier and he was actually kinda excited to work there. It was funny to see the reaction of his employees when they met him. Everyone swore that Finn looked exactly like Conor just a little on the smaller side. It wasn't an insult, Finn could certainly hold his own just as much as anyone else here. So he smiled it off which sent his works into another frenzy speaking of how he had Conor's smile. After Conor had gone over everything, he wrapped his arm around their shoulders and teased them about trying to keep this place running.

"Well, I can't guarantee that the whole place won't fall apart but we will definitely try and fix it before you get back." Finn teased back before looking over at Maggie. She seemed a bit quiet and he wondered if she was okay. "We got this, right Mags?" He smiled to her before looking to his cousin, who could really be more of a brother. "You don't have to worry about us lad, we got this." His words were confident and his smile was easy. Finn just really hoped that trouble wouldn't come walking through that door tonight and contradict his words.

James Porter

"The Emerald and then the pier sounds perfect, love," James agreed. He'd been to the pier a few times over the last year, but never for fun. He was curious to know what it felt like to just chill out there, maybe play some games and eat some of the junk food. It always smelled sickly sweet, but he was craving that now they'd agreed to go. "I hope you've got your walking shoes on, Lucy. The walk to the pier is one of the best parts," he suggested. It wasn't far from the Emerald, but still a long walk if she were to wear high heeled shoes.

When Lady jumped down, James pretended to frown. "I'll bring you a new ball back," he told the puppy, struggling to turn away from the dog's cute face. But then Lucy spoke again and her pretty face beat all others. "Let's go," he said, a twinkle in his eye and he look to the blonde.

As they walked down the driveway, James reached out and took hold of Lucy's hand so they could stay close. "I remember seeing photographs from when Emmet used to take all of you to the pier. It looked like you guys always had so much fun there," he told her. "Forgive me, I feel like the answer to this should be obvious, but for some reason I'm not sure. Was it you or Sinead who was traumatised by that clown? I remember Conor recently mentioning something about you guys once leaving the fair early because one of his sisters was terrified. Just so I know to steer away from clowns if it was you," he said, with a wink.

Lucy smiled and looked down at her shoes, she had known better than to wear heels tonight, especially after having the cuts on her feet. The shoes she wore were flat footed and much more comfortable than heels. As they walked out and down the driveway. James brought up seeing pictures of the family when Emmett use to take them down to the pier. Lucy smiled almost embarrassed at him, Conor had brought up the one true fear she had to James. Typical Conor for telling embarrassing stories about her. "That would be me." She chuckled lightly and a small blush could be seen on her cheeks.

"Those damned things are sent from hell in a hand basket to scare the living daylights out of innocent people and children." She said her voice was teasing however. Lucy was still deathly afraid of them but she wouldn't burst into tears if there was one 100 feet from her like she did when she was a child. But if it got any closer, she would definitely be the first to steer away. "Its a bit sad that I am still afraid of clowns..."

Giovanni "Angel" Gambino

img-thing.jpg

The 1945 Chevrolet, pulled up along the sidewalk of the cafe. Originally, Angel would be more cautious about picking up Sinead, making sure he wasn't waltzing into an ambush. Enough time had passed, however, that he felt completely comfortable meeting her in public . Seeing her perched by the umbrellas, he left his engine idling as he stepped out. "My god, you are gorgeous." He said, a smile dancing upon his lips. He moved around the car for the passenger door. "Your chariot has arrived," he jokingly said, holding the door open for her.

When Lucy confirmed it was her who had been scared by the clown, he struggled to hide the humour from his face. Then she went on to explain how clowns still freaked her out and he couldn't help but chuckle. "Holy shit. I honestly wasn't expecting you to say that. I seriously thought it had to be Sinead. I'd already pictured her freaking out all high-pitched and startled," he joked. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and pulled her closer as they walked. "Don't worry, Lucy. I'll protect you from the scary clowns. Though it's nearly Halloween so I'll have to be super vigilant," he teased her. "Nah, it's not sad. They're pretty dumb and creepy looking, so I'm not surprised they freak people out."

As they continued to walk, James looked to Lucy's face as a short time of silence took over them. "How are you feeling now, Lucy? We've had a few days to heal our wounds, but how do you really feel?" he asked, pointing to his head to show he meant her mental well-being.

When the Chevrolet pulled up along the sidewalk, Sinead didn't make any movement straight away, instead looking closely to make sure Angel was the man in the car. Luckily, he stepped how of the vehicle before she had to focus for too long. She walked closer to the vehicle as he complimented her. Her bright smile was accompanied by the reddening of her cheeks which may not be so noticeable in the dark. "Well, thank you. You're looking pretty handsome yourself, Giovanni," she replied to him. As he held the passenger door open for her, she gleefully got inside, giggling at his joke about her chariot awaiting.

When Angel got back into the driver's seat next to her, she looked to him for a moment, taking in that charming smile of his. "So, tell me. Where are we going this evening?" she curiously asked.

Lucy laughed lightly and leaned into his welcoming grasp. The air was a bit nippy tonight so staying close was something that kept her warm and happy. Lucy had learned to laugh at the fact that she was terrified of such a thing. Easily letting it go if people laughed at it as well. She thought it was quite funny herself. When James said he would protect her and that he understood why they could be scary to people, Lucy grinned and kissed his cheek. "Hmmm my knight in shining armor." She murmured with a small smirk before looking forward as they walked.

His next question didn't catch her off guard, like it would have in the beginning of their relationship. James was so in tune with her that he could tell almost everything she was feeling. She looked to him and understood exactly what he was talking about. He wasn't talking about physical pain any longer for that was starting to fade. Her eyes met his for a moment before she turned to look ahead again. "Better now," She answers, neither confirming or denying that she had been feeling a bit off until this point of the evening. "I'm glad to be here with you, and that we are both safe..." Lucy offered a small smile to reassure him that she was alright.

Aidan had been at the local bar, getting a drunk or two, before entering the outside world once again.
He hopped into his black Cadillac before starting the car. He had plans on heading over to the pub so he drove in that direction. Once reaching the pub, he parked his vehicle and exited it. He strolled over to the building and entered the pub. Thankfully, it wasn't that crowded at the moment. It wasn't long before he spotted the faces of his family members. Conor, Maggie, and Finn were currently in th pub. He hasn't spoken to them in a bit so he thought he could catch up with them.
Aidan walked over to the three, "Hey guys. What's up?" Aidan greeted with a small grin.

Athena Archer

980x.jpg

Athena's mind had been preoccupied the whole day. Her thoughts had consisted of Leo and what the two would do during their time at the pier. Athena had made the mistake of letting her mother know her plans for Friday evening about two days ago. Let's just say her lovely mother was ecstatic for her.

Standing in front of full length mirror in her room, Athena examined her reflection. She was currently sporting a red skirt and a navy blue, off-the shoulder top. The girl reached up to touch her hair. She had just unraveled the two french braids that she previously had in her head. Her curls were definitely frizzy at the current moment. She bit her lip, fluffing her hair out.

Athena felt soft fur brush up against her lip. She glanced down, smiling at the calico cat. "What do you think India?" She asked the cat. The small feline just meowed. Smiling, she picked up India, rubbing her long fluffy coat.
"I appreciate your input." She mused, kissing the cat on top of her head. Holding the feline in her arms, Thena left her room and walked down the stairs of her small apartment. The place was small but it was good enough for a college student.

Athena sat on a couch in the main room of her apartment. However, it wasn't long before she heard a knock at the door.
"Is that him?" Athena whispered, before standing up and looking through the peephole of the door. Once being sure it was him, Athena gently put India down on the hardwood floor, before opening the door.

Athena smiled at his question upon opening the door.
"I was born ready." Athena responded with a playful grin.

"I'm glad you're feeling better," James told Lucy. "And it's great to be here and safe with you." As they were just about at the pub, James slowed down and tugged Lucy's arm for her to stop walking. Keeping his hand holding hers, he stepped so he was facing her and placed a gentle kiss on her lips. He then pulled her in close for a quick hug, figuring they wouldn't get much privacy once they entered Conor's rowdy pub. "Now let's enter the madhouse," he joked.

"I like your style, Finn," Conor said, as his cousin said he couldn't guarantee keeping the whole place standing but would fix it before he got back. He removed his arms from the shoulders of his cousins and motioned down to one of the floorboards behind the bar. He'd already told Finn there were guns hidden there, should they even be needed. As he stood back up, he saw Harry serving an old man. "Watch out for this guy, Doyle," he said, loud enough for his cousins and the old man to hear. "If he challenges you to any sort of drinking game, don't agree! You'll be pissed out of your skull, stumbling all over the place and he'll only just be getting started." The old man grinned and Conor let out his infectious laugh. It was great having his cousins at the pub with him.

Conor looked to the door to see Aidan enter the place and another grin grew on his face at the sight of another cousin. "Well, look at that. Long time not see, Aidan," he said, beckoning the lad over. "What have you been up to? What can Finn get you to drink?" he asked, glancing to Finn as he gave him some work to do.

James and Lucy then entered the pub and the noises of the lively place went straight through him. It had been a few weeks since he'd been in here for a drink. He'd almost forgotten how lively the place was. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy it, but the atmosphere always brought out the introvert in him. He'd already eyed up a quiet table in the corner before he walked with Lucy to the bar. James was surprised to see Aidan also there. It was like a Sullivan get together, minus a few.

"I didn't expect to see you lovebirds in here," Conor greeted them, grinning. By this point he had grabbed his jacket from nearby and was just about ready to leave. "I have to get going, but should be back later to check on things," he told everyone. He hadn't offered any excuse for his departure and wasn't going to, if he could help it. "Enjoy your night, everyone!" he shouted, before making a speedy exit out of the pub.

When Athena answered the door, Leo stepped back and smiled as he looked her over. "Good answer," he told her. "You look amazing," he added. He then led her down to his car and opened the passenger door of his car for her. Once she was inside, he gently closed the door and rushed to the driver's side to get in. "Have you had a good day?" he asked her.

When they arrived at their destination, Leo parked the car up across the street from the actual pier. Although cars could park on the pier itself, he wanted them to enjoy a nice walk. As they walked onto the pier, they were met with a lively atmosphere and bright, colourful lights. There were already little Halloween props scattered around and staff dressed in silly costumes. When he noticed a cotton candy stand, he excitedly pointed to it. "Shall we?" he asked, like an excited child.

Just as they were about to approach the club, James pulled her back slightly. He stepped towards her a placed a gentle kiss on her lips, which brought a small smile to her face. He then pulled her in for a hug and she took a moment to take in the closeness before they decided to step inside. Her eyes took in the pub and she realized how long it had been since she stepped foot into this place. It must have been a few years ago actually, now that she thought about it. Lucy really couldn't guess the reason why she hadn't. She wasn't surprised to see Finn and Maggie, but when her eyes looked at Aidan, her eyebrows shot up.

Looking to James, she could sense a change in his posture and slightly in his facial expression. He wasn't one for the noisy and crowded places, he didn't seem to mind but she could tell he was searching for a place to sit that was less...chatty. She placed a hand on his bicep lightly before giving him a reassuring smile and walking towards the bar. A small blush growing on her face as Conor called the pair "lovebirds." she rolled her eyes but smiled nonetheless.

And then just like that, he was walking out of the bar saying he would be back later to check on things. Lucy raised an eyebrow in suspicion but she didn't question him on his way out. She was learning that maybe staying out of her siblings lives would be safer for her...emotionally, especially if he was going to meet that Romano brat. Her jaw ticked in frustration as she thought about the girl but decided to push her from her thoughts almost immediately. The girl wasn't worth the trouble. Instead Lucy looked to Finn and Maggie, "Conor got you working huh?" Lucy ordered what she wanted and looked to James.

Finn smiled at Conor as he told him that he liked his style. He looked to the floorboards that Conor motioned at and gave him a soft nod before turning to look at the old man he was talking about. He let out a laugh and shook his head. "Oh I'll be sure to not play against him." He chuckled as the old man smiled almost proudly. Just then Aidan walked through the pub doors and Finn wondered if the Sullivans had some sort of beacon on them that brought everyone together so suddenly. "Yes what can I get for ya Aidan?" He asked just after Conor had asked him, offering his famous smile to his other cousin.

He was busy chatting with him when Conor mention lovebirds. Looking up he saw James and Lucy walking into the pub. Finn was happy that one of his cousins could find happiness despite the madness that went on. "Well it seems like most of the family has some sort of secret get together that none of us actually know about." He laughed and greeted the pair. When Lucy made a comment about Conor having Mags and himself working, he nodded his head. "Of course! Like I said, I want to earn my keep instead of sitting around like some freeloader." Finn stepped around Mags for a moment and moved to get Lucy a drink making it before heading back to her with it. Looking to James, he offered a smirk, "What can I get ya?"

After conversing, he turned his head at the mention of loverbirds. Aid glanced towards James and Lucy who had just entered the pub. Aidan grinned. So the two finally got together. Aidan did a small wave to the two.
Unexpectedly, Conor had left the pub. Not paying it any mind, Aidan turned his attention to his cousins. "So how have you guys been doing?" He questioned, smiling.

"How has yours been?" Athena questioned.

When they arrived nearby the pier, a small excited smile made its way on her face. one of her favorite memories were created at this place. Athena got out of the car and walked with Leo as they walked to the pier. There were so many bright lights and there was also Halloween themes around. She noticed one staff member dressed as a ghost.
Athena's attention was redirected when Leo excitedly pointed at a nearby cotton candy stand. His voice filled with excitement.
"Um, of course!" Athena answered, beaming happily.

Conor parked his car up at the back of the house he'd been told to be at. This area was a slum and though he knew the house was currently occupied, he knew the people he was meeting didn't actually live in this. They had enough money to live in a large home, quite like his own. As soon as Conor knocked on the door, he was met with the imposing figure of Kane Anders and three of his heavies. Picking up on the man's signal, Conor stood straight with his arms stretched out to the sides so one of the goons could search him and temporarily take possession of his weapons. Conor took no offence, knowing he'd do the same in Kane's position and trust didn't come out of thin air.

"Open the trunk and bring it in," Kane instructed Conor. The Irish lad complied and lifted out the two bags, carrying them into the filthy-looking house. Kane stood at one side of the kitchen table and watched as Conor unloaded the bags and bottles of drugs.

Conor stood in tense silence for quite a time as Kane and his three men scrutinised what had been presented before them. It was difficult for him to remain silent and eventually he had to break the tension. "I like what you've done with this place," he piped up, referring to the cold and damp kitchen.

"Thank you, Mr. Sullivan," Kane spoke up, though he was thanking him for the drugs, not the sarcastic compliment. The intimidating man placed a bag of cash on the table, which Conor unzipped and quickly checked over. The money was just to cover the amount Conor had paid for the drugs; there was no profit for him there. The reward for his time and risk in obtaining the drugs was protection for his family and Kane's men were certainly suitable for that job.

"Pleasure doing business, Mr. Anders," Conor told him. "A few things have happened since we last spoke. I need your men to include James Porter in their protection. He's family too." Since finding out Lucy and James were a thing, and that James had destroyed Vinnie's explosives, it made him more concerned for the man. The last thing Conor wanted was for Lucy to lose someone she cared for and needed so much.

"Understood, my friend," Kane said, outstretching his arm to shake Conor's hand. Despite the intimidating front, it seemed Kane was quite pleasant once he knew things were going his way.

After being given back his weapons, Conor got into his car and went for a drive. He could pretend it was to take in the beautiful night and the city's sights, but really he was hoping to see another beauty, namely Alex. No matter what his family said or did, he just couldn't keep away from her.

Nicolo and Alexandra were sitting in the lounge talking when theyre father entered the room.
Alex shrugged when he asked their plans "I have a work party in the Diner that I might go to" she said leaning back into her seat. There was a work party on tonight but Alex didn't really feel like going honestly shed rather just go to bed and sleep early but she knew that was all she had done this week and that she needed to let loose. She hadn't been anywhere near the Emerald nor had she seen Conor since the incident. She blinked away thoughts of Conor believing that he was probably better off not seeing her or that maybe he had listened to his sister and was avoiding her. Trying to clear her mind off all sad thoughts, Alex stood up and looked at what she was wearing. She had dressed earlier with the intention of going to this party and so she only had to throw on her black boots and grab her bag. "Right Im late for this already so I better leave" she said to her father and brother "bye, love yous" she called before leaving the house and walking towards the Diner.

Nicolo watched as his sister left "bye Alex, have fun" he called before turning his attention back to his father "I have no plans for this evening" he said with a shrug before a smile took over his features "but I do believe I know the asshole who destroyed our goods" Nicolo sat forward in his seat "A Chrysler Imperial with a dent on the passenger side door was seen to be driving away from the scene" nicolo looked up at his father "now I dont know about you but I only know of one person who has that car with that particular dent"

****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

It was a good Friday night, Maggie felt. After leaving the house with a good night's sleep [the best she's had in a week] and walking into a lively pub with a purpose much greater than drinking, her spirits had been lifted; no pun itended. The atmosphere of Connor's bar hadn't always been one to bring a smile to her lips, but this time, Maggie was on the other side of the bar. Days earlier, Connor had introduced her and Finn to the innerworkings of his pub. It had allowed her to familiarise herself with the place all over again. Despie this she hadn't returned till this day, opting instead to busy herself at the house with unpacking, organising notes, cleaning what she could and any other mundane pass times she could muster. The uneasiness she felt since the foreclosure of her and Finn's home had rested on her soulders for some time, but it was subsiding. It wasn't obvious; Maggie was still uncharacteristically too quiet. Sure, she was a timid girl, but the Sullivan had not spoken so much as a written paragraph in her time with her family. She knew this, and she wanted it to change. In fact, she hoped that today would be the day to go about remaking herself, only, she didnt seem to be hitting the ground running, if you get my lingo. She thought, perhaps she needed a push. It was a slow morning. Things could look up.

Currently, behind the countertop, Maggie kept her hands busy with a couple peices of loose change in the till. If there was one thing she despised, it was disorganisation, especially in a till. Her mind worked like a machine. Every cog in sync with the others. She allowed Finn to busy himself with the making of the drinks for now, and when the till was to her minor standard, she was busy again, collecting empty glasses off the countertop and giving them the clean they deserved. She wasn't half-assed, she was drinking out of these glasses. Every once in a while Maggie spoke with a customer, or offered a laugh at the hopeless jokes a drunk had made. This job was good fun, and she praised Connor for it. Upon hearing her brother, Maggie lifted her head, though didn't look at him directly, too enthralled in a glass she was cleaning. 'Hhmm~? Yeah, Finny~' He didn't elaborate, and the girl didn't think anything of it, nstead going back to the towel in her right and the cup in her left. Soon enough, a new customer rolled in. Aidan's presence brought a smile to Maggie's lips, and this time, she actually looked up. 'Hiya Aidan, long time no see.' It had been some time since she had seen the boy, and a part of her hoped they could catch up well while they were here. She looked towards Connor momentarily, noticing the nod her btother gave him in regards to the floorboard. Hopefully, if they could help it, there would be no use for those guns. But in a place like this...you could never tell. In light of his cheery mood, The arrival of Lucy and James just made Maggie's smile grow. Quite a crowd had formed. To see the two "lovebirds" as Connor adressed them, walk in, brought back that longing for something just like what they had. She had witnessed it the whole week they had been in town. But, regardless, she was extremely happy for her cousin. She would never want anything bad for those two "lovebirds". Maggie furrowed her eyebrows at Connor's sudden rush to be dissapeared. No explanation usually meant motives no-one might ever know...perhaps he could be interrogated on a later date. She silently hoped they wouldn't learn about his whereabouts through a deathly rumour. It was Friday the 13th afterall....She guessed, only time would tell.

The cheeriness radiating off of her cousins keeps Maggie on her feet. She moves slightly for Finn when he moves around her, and once he has delivered dear Lucy her choice of beverage, she reaches to her left to attain the bottle of scotch, per Aidan's request. She places the bottle in front of her brother and follows it with a newly dried glass. Next thing, she is returning a completely different bottle to it's rightful place behind them. Maggie turns to Aidan with a small smile. Where should she start? A small glance at Finn later and she speaks to Aidan with confidence clear in her voice, while multitasking. 'We're good. Trying to pick ourselves up again~ but good. We are being treated well,' she chuckles lightly, sparing a glance at Lucy, in light of the fact she had opened her home to the brother and sister [with the help of of course]. She continues with a shrug. 'Finn and I made a couple mistakes recently, so we are staying in town to get ourselves bac
k onto the road to greatness. And here we are~.' She gestures to the pub with her arms, mockingly. 'Wouldn't have it any other way. Right Finn?' She looks over at her brother, a cheely smile growing.

James Porter

James followed Lucy to the bar, sending smiles and nods to the Sullivans who were already present. He grinned at Conor as he called the pair lovebirds. He'd long learned not to show any bashfulness or embarrassment to Conor as the guy would use it against him to persistently tease him. James wasn't going to make it that easy for Conor to rib him. Luckily, James didn't need to react as Conor seemed intent on rushing off. James couldn't help but immediately assume he was going to see Alex. He hated to know Conor was still off seeing the Romano bitch and he wished he could do something to stop it from going on, but it seemed that right now this was the only thing keeping Conor strong.

After Lucy ordered her drink, James followed on Finn's cue and ordered some vodka. He handed over the cash to pay for his and Lucy's drinks. He smiled as Finn mentioned the apparent family get together. It really did seem that way, but at least it was a family he enjoyed being in the company of. "I'd say this is a good way to earn your keep," James told Finn. It was helping the family out without any danger or lawbreaking.

James placed his hand on Lucy's hip as he allowed the four remaining cousins to speak and catch up. Those who knew him well enough would know he was quite content to just listen, especially when in a group.

Leo Davide

As he drove, Athena asked how Leo's day was and he shrugged his shoulders. "It's not been very productive, but sometimes its nice to just relax. I had a disagreement with my father, but that's nothing new. He's off doing some job for Vinnie tonight and I told him to stop. It's not that I don't trust Vinnie, but I don't like my old man putting himself into danger all of the time."

Leo couldn't help but smile as Athena took his hand and led her to the stand where they purchased a stupid amount of cotton candy. Leo pointed out an empty bench overlooking the lake and walked with her to sit down, figuring it was easier to stop the pink stuff from getting everywhere if they were sat still eating it. "So, which ride do you want to try out first?" he asked her. He saw someone dressed as a witch walk by and grinned. "We should totally go to some Halloween party in a couple of weeks. I'd dress as a vampire, no question. What would you dress as?"

Vinnie listened to Alex as she explained she was going to some party at the diner. "You have a good evening, sweetheart," he told his daughter. "Don't forget the numbers I gave you. If you need a ride home, one of those guys will oblige," he assured her, not wanting her finding her way home alone late at night.

"No plans, Nicolo?" he asked, having half-expected him to be out meeting some pretty lady. "Then you can come to the casino with me. Perhaps even learn more about the place," he told him. When his son went on to describe the vehicle that had been near the scene of the explosion, it really wasn't difficult to match it to James. He'd been driving around in the thing since his head had been slammed into it and dented it. He also knew how protective James was about his cars and not letting others borrow them. "Of course it was James. I should know by now that if it's not Conor, it's James. I'd quite like to be paid back the large sum of money he owes me before I have someone put a bullet in his skull, but I'm not sure if he'd even pay up, no matter how nicely I might ask..."

As Alex walked to the diner, she would see a car pulling up alongside her. With the window wound down, Conor stuck his head out of the window to call out to her. "Do you need a ride somewhere?" he asked her. His voice sounded stronger than it had the last time they'd been together and the physical bruising had pretty much disappeared from his face.

Finn had been observing Mags this entire week, and she seemed much happier here than she had ever been living back home. It made him a bit sad to think that he couldn't even make his own sister happy. Though it really wasn't his job to do so, Finn had always been there when she needed him. His mind became distracted momentarily as he went and got James his vodka he ordered. Setting it down in front of the man, he smiled before taking the money he gave Finn for both drinks. "Thank you good sir." Finn said in a teasing type of way before heading to place it in the register. Finn caught half of what his sister said and nodded quickly, agreeing with her. "Uh yea...right!" He said almost too cheerily, not really sure what he was agreeing with but deciding it was best to pretend like his mind was in the moment. He gave a smile to Aidan hoping that his cousin wouldn't see right through his little cheery moment and looked to Lucy. "Good Luce?" He asked making sure her drink was alright. To which the blonde nodded her head happily and laughed.

"It doesn't taste like cough syrup so it tastes wonderful to me!" She said to her cousin, sensing that he had been caught up in his own thoughts for quite some time. She took another drink and felt a hand on her hip. James was always the quiet type, luckily, her cousins were aware of this. So he could sit and listen as much as he wanted without being ridiculed. "Everything looks different in here." She commented to James, knowing he had been in here more frequently than she had. "Its like I don't even recognize the place anymore."

Lucy's eyes caught Maggie's and she sent the girl a beautiful smile before reaching out and delicately touching a strand of her hair. "Your hair color just kills me everytime I see it Mags! I am so jealous....look at those highlights!" She fawned over her cousin lightly, loving the smile that it brought to her face. Finn smiled lightly and looked at Mags about to say something when someone at the end of the bar caught his attention. He turned quickly and moved down to the bar, serving the older gentleman another drink before hurrying back over to his cousins. "Just like Mum's hair, exactly like it actually." He commented finally and smiled down at his younger sister.

"What about you Aidan? Been a long time since we've seen you? What's new? Staying out of trouble?" He smiled at Aidan again. That last bit was a joke of course, with this family, trouble seemed to be an extension of their last name.

Maggie looked up over at her older brother, taking in his response with a playful role of her eyes. She couldn't blame him. It seemed both of them were a little out of it, and both concentrated on completely different things. She shook it off with a small laugh, and as Finn went for the register, she stepped closer to the counter. Now she was practically leaning over it, hair centimetres from the a wooden top. Casual like. She smiled across at Aidan with a shrug of her shoulders. 'I don't know what I'm gonna do with him.' Really: she didn't. She knew without a doubt that Finn had a good headspace. He was positive, optimistic, all of the above. Though, his tendency to get lost in his thoughts lately, seemed to throw it all off when the bronde haired female really thought about it. 'He knows I'm here, and I know he is too.' Maggie' attention shifted momentarily from one cousin to the next, to hear the verdict on Fin's liquor skills; so to speak. The tone in Lucy's voice spoke double her words. Maggie sent a pride filled smile to her brother. She caught Lucy's gaze on her"trip" back to Aidan, only to blush at Lucy's extremely flattering comment. 'Oh, Luce~ It's nothing special trust me.' She was honest. She supposed hair like her's was utterly mundane. Maybe she was wrong. Maggie wouldn't dare retreat however, as she always took her cousins word as true. To hear something so flattering from Lucy, well, it filled her with pure joy, and regrettably, brought a rosiness to her cheeks. 'Stop it, you are making me blush~'. Finn's comment filled the young woman with a wave of sadness, but also pride. She lifted her gaze up to Finn from her position and sent him an utterly greatful smile. She has always looked up to their beautiful mother, even when she wasn't there to look up to. 'Thankyou Fin~.' It didn't take long for that touching moment to follow another, and Maggie oun herself rotating once more. She blessed Lucy with a greatful smile also, mouthing a "thankyou" to her before setting her eyes expectantly on Aidan. She too was quite curious as to what the boy had been doin with his time.

Alex was lost in her own thoughts as she walked towards the diner. She still didnt know if she wanted to go to it or just bail off and hit a bar. Sure she liked the girls but Alex was in no mental state to smile and pretend that she had a completely different, somewhat normal life. She jumped from her thoughts when she heard a car pull up beside. She turned slowly until she saw Conor behind the wheel. She mearly shrugged, a small smile taking over her lips as she made her way to the passenger side and hopped in. "You look a lot better" she stated as she looked him over

"Well no plans off yet but coming to the casino would be good" he said with a smile "It'll help to know my way around it and everything to do with it" he commented more so to himself than to his father. He smirked when his father talked about asking for the money back "theres no chance youd get it back by asking" he laughed "put a bullet through his.girlfriends head and you'd get it no problem" Nicolo was still annoyed with what had happened between Lucy and Alex.

Giovanni "Angel" Gambino

Angel waited for Sinead to climb into the car before he shut the door. Strolling to the other side, he smoothly pulled himself behind the wheel. He smiled at her, shrugging lightly, "It's a little cheesy... but I wanna' show you something." He put the car in drive, rolling away from the curb.

It took Angel a couple of days to recover from such a violent night, having to settle himself. He made sure to plan a date with Sinead right after he had found composure. It wasn't easy brutally slaying individuals and staying sane; impossible, really. Angel was more of a method actor. As long as he acted sane, he could keep his social life intact.

The car pulled up on a large hill, overlooking Chicago. His headlights merged with the overwhelming lights of the city, for they had reached their destination. Angel reached into the back of the car, grabbing a wine bottle and two glasses. He motioned Sinead to step out as he leaned against the hood of his car. "I know this isn't a conventional date, but this spot is... very special to me." He poured Sinead a glass of wine on the hood, before pouring himself one as well. "I wanted to share it with you."

"Then it's settled, you will come to the casino with me," Vinnie told Nicolo. "I'd like you to take an active role in keeping the place running," he added.

Vinnie couldn't help but laugh when Nicolo suggested putting a bullet through Lucy's skull. "Or at least make him choose between paying me back or losing his girlfriend to the said bullet," he remarked, seemingly like he was genuinely considering the idea. "I'm not going to give them time to think they're out of the woods on this one." After a brief pause, he got up from his seat and told Nicolo to get his coat.

When he stepped out of the house Vinnie beckoned over three of his men and began giving each of them their own task. "James Porter likes explosions so much, so I'd like you to send him a couple of messages. I want his house blown up and I want that Chrysler of his destroyed too." Vinnie dismissed two of the men and stepped closer to the third, speaking quietly into his ear to give him his instructions. The man then walked away and Vinnie looked to Nicolo with a smile on his face. "Ready to go?" he asked him.

Conor looked to Alex as she told him he looked a lot better. "Yeah, I've got my handsome looks back, just like it never happened," he said, with a grin. The fact was, the physical signs had gone and he was, for the most part, the same Conor everyone wished to see. That didn't mean he'd overcome what had happened to him and he was still trying to recover, but those were all things people couldn't observe and so he was able to hide it all from everyone. He looked to Alex to try gauge what was going on in her head. Was she angry with him, scared? Perhaps she was about to tell him their little thing was over. "How about you, Alex? How are you?"

"Now, where am I driving you to?" he asked her.

James Porter

James accepted his drink from Finn and took a sip before placing the glass down on the bar in front of him. He listened as the Sullivans conversed which each other, in the most normal way this family could manage. It was refreshing. When Lucy mentioned to him how the place looked different, he nodded his head. "Ah, you know Conor. He's like Shannon, always wanting to give the place a makeover and keep it looking fresh. Doesn't help that its been riddled with bullets a few times," he drily remarked. He gently rubbed her back to reassure her

As the conversation around him continued, James couldn't help himself from thinking about David and the others. He'd told them not to give him much detail about what they were up to tonight so he didn't feel compelled to check on them or in any way become involved. All he did know was that his car was getting taken to the scrapyard the next day and he was getting a new one. He'd agreed they could use it, minus the number plates. He didn't care at this point what state it would arrive at the scrappers in. James was getting a new car to add to his collection and that always cheered him up.

When Angel told her he was going to show her something that was a little cheesy, Sinead looked to him and raised an eyebrow. "Cheesy, huh? Now I'm curious," she said, before letting out one of her sweet laughs. As he drove them to their destination, Sinead looked to him as she got a little lost in her thoughts. She found it hard to think this man worked for a monster like Vinnie. She'd only ever seen him do kind things for her. She found that to be quite intriguing.

When Angel parked the car at the top of the hill, Sinead took his cue and got out of the vehicle, walking around to the hood as he leaned against in. "I think we're both beyond convention," Sinead noted. She looked out onto the city and smiled. It looked much prettier, safer and enticing from this distance. "It's a very beautiful spot, Giovanni," she told him. Sinead knew most people referred to the man as 'Angel', but for some reason she could only tie that to the bad things she'd heard about him and the things he did for his boss. She only wanted to know Giovanni. "Thank you, Sir," she said, as she took the glass of wine he'd poured for her. "So, tell me..." she began, taking a small drink of wine. "What makes this spot special to you?" she curiously asked.
