Realistic or Modern The Great Ganbatte: Round 1 The Evolution of the Fight (A Martial Arts and Crime RP Sign Up Thread.)

The Galapagos Islands. The Island of the Turtles. The Archipelago of the Ecuator. Formed five to ten million years ago with newer islands still forming due to volcanic activitty, it was this stretch of island that inspired Charles Darwin's theory of evolution.; Natural Selection. Otherwise known as SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST!

This is the tale of two worlds, both residing on a small blue planet. As soon as they come into contact, conflict becomes unavoidable and blood will inevitably spill until one stands over the other, victorious.

For the past two decades, the Criminal Underworld has faced considerable international growth, following four principal markets: Banking and commerce; insurance fraud and racketeering; the sex industry; arms deals. This growth came as the bosses of dying mob families and crime syndicates put the past behind them and consolidated power to form a true criminal stratum, puppet masters pulling the strings of the world.

Together they formed the largest criminal conglomerate in history, The Magna Mafia. Rife with the potential for infighting and betrayal, a hierarchy was quickly established. After many meetings and skirmishes that threatened to tear them apart, four emerged from the aftermath and united this criminal empire at last. Though still mistrustful of one another at first, these four put business ahead of bad blood and proceeded to influence the world, making an empire for themselves and hell for others.

They quickly became known as the Heavenly Kings.

Each King facilitated over one of the four main pillars of the criminal empire. Their meetings were sparse, their responsibilities remaining separate but equal. The four only truly united to preside over a fifth enterprise, one that soon took the world by storm and became surprisingly profitable: The Great Ganbatte.

Starting as an underground tournament, the Heavenly Kings began to option it through more legitimate channels, hiding its seedy origins as it gained international acclaim and became one of the most watched sports spectacles of the world. Martial artists and fighters from around the world were pitted in wide-ranging battles, each held in various cities around the globe!

1710208130356.png
The contest was not yearly. It was entirely on the whims of the Four. And when it was held, it was never without ulterior motives. It is said that those who longed to fight to test their mettle, to gain vengeance upon bitter rivals feel it in their blood whenever one of these tournaments is set to start. Almost as if it's supernatural.

The invites go out in the hundreds. The preliminaries are often a battle royale in the city and from the fifty left standing, the rules of the tournament are decided from there, entirely at the call of its unseen benefactors. Contestants range from those wishing for fame and fortune, to those seeking to prove themselves the mightiest there is, those with vendettas, and lastly those who seek to expose hidden truths.

There are many reasons one enters the Great Ganbatte and they aren't all for the sake of winning. It is said after every tournament no fighter is left the same. With secrets to uncover, rivals around every corner, and new alliances waiting to be made, it is said that this year's 30th Great Ganbatte held in South America will be the most influential yet.

This is the tale of two worlds. The criminal and the martial. When they meet, fists will inevitably clash. But only one side may stand victorious and finally take down The Four Heavenly Kings.

The preliminaries are over....but this time there's a wrench thrown into the works already. With the announcement of the first round comes the revelation that the first round is....a ten man multiblock team tournament?! There can still be only one winner, however and the new rules state that even if the team is eliminated, there will be a hidden point system,...the more impressive your skills are the better the chance you'll make it to the next round. Provided you survive anyway.

Welcome to Great Ganbatte! a martial arts/crime rp. You will play one of the entrants in the tournament and will compete to claim the ultimate prize, defeat your rivals, or perhaps resolve some ulterior motives of your own.

For those unaware, this is a sequel thread to a previous rp, but you need no prior knowledge of it to participate in this one. I'm looking for a lot of characters if not a lot of people this time around, so if you wish to make multiple characters, feel free. Before anything is kicked off, I wanted to share a couple tidbits first:

Fights between players seem inevitable in this sort of setting and when they occur, I expect them to be handled concerning what will make the better story going forward. That said, while knockouts COULD result in eliminations, there is far more plot bubbling beneath the surface than the tournament and plenty to get involved in.

Thw idea is for this thread to be a long-running one, so if you can't make it or will be making an exit, just let me know and if you sign up, make sure you're ready to participate.

As far as your characters' capabilities go, I prefer that you utilize a martial art at least SOMEWHAT based in the real world (i.e ninjutsu is fine) and I don't mind if you go over the top with it. Chi is a thing in this settinga and who knows that other enhancements exist. Just make sure to ask if you try anything out of the ordinary.

That's about it for now. Any other questions, feel free to ask!

I remember seeing this the first time and considering it interesting. No idea what character I’d play, but I’m interested.

Is this tournament inter-gender or is there a female division or is it men only? is it females only? because I was thinking I would want to be a female. One clue, two words; "Twisted Bliss."

seriously! I call dibs on Alexa Bliss.

Anyone can enter the tournament as long as their of age. One of the participants is a crocodile, even! However two things;

There'll be a character sheet that I'll provide shortly and also I'd prefer if characters werentnreal living people, honestly. Based on a real person or inspired by them, certainly, but no real living people otherwise.

Same goes with character images, just to keep things consistent.

So you do Not want characters people can identify with and need to look up on character sheets to know what they are walking into? That way its all shock action and flash afterdodge reactions? I understand the quick attention that would get. I however do not use afterdodge. Nor do I use CC flash attacks no one else understands and needs to be explained by the user? Sorry, maybe next time.

I think you're assuming too much there, friend

Well lets say I was a Mortal Kombat character. I'll pick one at random. ok, I drew Scorpion. If I say I did a low kick, or a Backwards Teleport Kick or Hand Spear.
Ok now not everyone would know what that is. However you could google those things. Also people whom know who Scorpion is would know all or some of those moves. Therein they would know how to counter them.

However if I was Lexxlomgialoiustia or Dell-Roundiapolia or Alice-wii Long. Three very popular CC's made on another roleplaying in a Korean community. And I said I was going to attack with a Windchuck-Water Dillmoreholdtrue, do you know what that would be? how to counter that? Could you find it on Google?

In addition CC's could also have crap attacks that are pure bull-crap, like Double Lemon Flash Attack, that are just made up and you would have no clue if that was an attack or them just powering up??

Get what I am saying?

Windchuck-Water Dillmoreholdtrue is a well known Korean counter grab that a fighter uses to capture a character, while they are jumping or in the air, pull them into a submission. Kindof like Sonya and Jacks have with the Gotcha grabs.

I played a massive amount of fighting roleplay games back on ICQ in the 90s.

The problem is, if they know how to counter all of those moves, then where's the challenge? Plus, you'd be using meta knowledge which wouldn't apply in roleplaying. Sure, you'd know how to counter those movies somewhat out of character, but in roleplay, how would they know if it's likely they never fought before? That's kinda what Character Sheets for buy again, this would be all of our characters first time meeting each other, so what would be the point in knowing right away what all the other can do?

Yes, pretty much. I already said that.

'That way its all shock action and flash afterdodge reactions? I understand the quick attention that would get.'

What you just said. Back in the ICQ roleplaying was called shock action. Counter a shock action with another shock action is called afterdodge reactions.
Welcome to roleplaying.

I guess now they call it 'Surprise?' lmao!

I know that, I'm saying, if we already know what the other character is capable of, then where's the challenge? Cause then we'd be countering until there's a draw like a TAS match up in Tekken. There's no greater strategy to be had when facing opponents, which kinda takes away the fun of a roleplay like this.

I am 100 percent agreeing with you for the second time. I just dont play those. Sorry.

As I said before.

'its all shock action and flash afterdodge reactions? I understand the quick attention that would get.'

I dont know why but I cant keep my attention to those. I am sure everyone else loves it. Just not me.

Ah, I understand. Then my apologies for holding you up. I hope you find what you're looking for! 👋

Yeah, sorry. In this style, I'd prefer peopel to write out their own fights and weave a narrative around it if that makes sense. It does go sort of back and forth but it depends. I also hope you find what you're looking for!

Could you elaborate on that a little?

"Both/all parties involved discuss the outcome and pace actions accordingly to work towards the intended conclusion",basically?

Kind of like a pro wrestling match, more or less?

I think he means 'fixed not fake' and that is what made me wonder about Wrestling because fixed not fake is done by "creative." Thats why I wanted Alexa Bliss but he wants fixed not fake with 100 percent Custom Characters. I am still wondering how "creative" plays in a CC forum.

I'm am sure he has some AI canon program to get around "creative" with CC's
