Fantasy The Gods Must Be Crazy

Delinquent

The Bee's Knees
Plot: The plot of this rp is pretty simple and straightforward. We play as contractors, people who've formed contracts with "higher beings" (but more on that latter), and that's pretty much it as far as pre-planned plot goes. The idea is that this will be a very open rp where what happens is dictated by your actions rather than some pre-planned plot.

Now, I'm more than aware that those types of rps tend to die pretty fast due to lack of anything to do. So, to prevent this, I've several pre-planned events that I'll throw into the mix if I feel that the rp starts to die down.

For more info on the setting of this rp, please read the following:
In short, the world of this rp is made up of a sort of a mishmash of different human civilizations throughout history. In other words, this means that one country might be identical to feudal Japan whilst it's neighboring countries consists of copies of the Roman and the Aztec empire.

In this rp, magic is based around "contracts". Contracts are more or less a ritual in which a human forms a deal with a higher being (a category that includes deities, angels, demons, youkai, etc) which lets them borrow the abilities and power of said higher being and use it for themselves. However, contracts aren't free and the being you made the contract with will want something in return. Most of the time the thing they want is things like worship, the occasional offering and carrying out the will of said being but some beings might require something more.

The abilities that one gets from their contract can vary greatly. It can be anything from controlling elements and ideas that their contracted party has dominion over to summoning items or creatures connected to their contracted partly etc.

Breaking a contract is considered a very severe thing, and is often punished. This punishment can be anything from having to pay a fine, having one's friends and family mysteriously disappear, death or even eternal punishment. It all depends on who you made the deal with and how you broke your contract.

Higher beings can be divided into four distinct categories.

Upper Deity: These are the most famous among their respective pantheons, and are names that are known the world over for their power. Odin, Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Shiva, Osiris, Ra, and Amaterasu are a few examples of this class of deity. This category also includes beings such as archangels, such as Gabriel and Michael, as what the three major monotheistic faiths see as God is notably absent from this rp.

Deity: These are the other gods and angels not mentioned among the prior listing. Examples of this include Thor, Athena, Ganesha, and so on and so forth.

Supernatural: Anything not encompassed by "Outlier" resides here. This category includes demigods, people who were deified after death, and even a few named creatures famous for their feats in life reside in this category.

Outliers: This is a category that contains a mishmash of beings that may be considered 'less viable' or 'secure' than the other three. Examples of beings in this category are beings like Fenrir, Surtr, Yamata no Orochi and Taira no Masakado. Naturally, named demons (such as those in the Ars Goetia) are also among this number.

Interested. One thing that comes to mind immediately though, maybe it should be stated outright as an in-setting thing that each deity only really governs their given field for their own pantheon and/or believers? You know, to let everyone define their bits of lore without immediately shutting out other players'.
