Claire Landry

Age: 32

Gender: Female

Height: 5'4" (164cm)

Personality: Claire is nothing less than interesting. She's a harty woman, loud and unapologetic about who she is and what she says. She can say something here or do something there that will offend you, but please take into consideration that she probably doesn't mean it. She has a habit of putting the needs of others far above the needs of herself, even if it means putting herself in danger. That southern hospitality is not an easy thing to break free from. But at the other end of the spectrum, she is not a woman to be trifled with. She may be short, but you mess with the people she cares about and Claire will kick your ass. She has a habit of calling people baby and che, terms she flings around casually and you'll know when there's meaning behind it. Strong-willed, intelligent, she has a certain wisdom that you don't see in every part of the world. And like she says "Hunting alligators and killing zombies have a lot in common."

Background: Claire Landry is not a person you would expect to see walking around the Delaware area even in the apocalypse. Her heavy cajun accent makes many people wonder how the hell she even got there in the first place. It's a long story. You see, Claire was born as Claire Leblanc, in Louisiana, though nobody round here except her husband knows exactly where. Born in 1998, Claire was, and always will be, straight from the south. Her parents were kind people but strict, her brothers were hard on her but they loved her, and there was a family tradition that growing up she was all too ready to join. Hunting alligators. But that wasn't her only dream you see. Claire also wanted to be a lawyer, a gator hunting lawyer. Her mother used to joke it was the deadliest combination there was. Her dad just wanted to make sure she wasn't a divorce lawyer. An easy promise to keep.

School for her was odd and a little tough. During elementary, it didn't matter all that much, she was a chubby kid who liked to get dirty like every kid in Louisiana. Though she was the one catching snakes and frogs if the other girls started screaming cause the boys thought it was funny. And her grades were always decent. Middle school is when it started changing. Middle school is a war ground, everyone is trying to find out where they belong and where exactly they stand in the world. And there are some people who get singled out, Claire being a heavier kid, was one of them. She didn't have many friends, she kept her head down and did her school work, and her only salvation were the weekends. Especially during September after she turned 12. Her dad and oldest brother started taking her alligator hunting. She didn't get to do much, but she learned a lot and even shot a few of the smaller ones. As she got older and stronger, she got to do more.

High school didn't get much better though. But over the years, she had grown a thick skin. Her hands a little scarred, and most of her bullies grown out of it after learning she knew how to wrangle the beasts of the bayou, she met someone who obviously didn't get the message. Two years older than her, quarterback on the football team, Jack Landry. She was still a heavier person, and she's fairly smart. So he had plenty of ammunition. It was obvious he was used to people buckling right away, so this chubby girl a good foot shorter than him not backing down and instead insulted him right back seemed to be a surprise. It was safe to say Claire did not like him during their first year.

But circumstances forced them to hang out, and slowly over their high school career, a bad start turned to that relationship you're always jealous of just because of how perfect they seemed for each other. But now, Claire's dream had changed a little. Jack had talked about becoming a state trooper, and how he had always wanted to be in law enforcement. The more she thought about it, the better it sounded. So they went to trooper school together and by the time they were 21, Claire and her now-fiance were State Troopers.

There came a delicate balance between what she wanted to do and her job, but she found a way to make it work. For the 6 years she was a trooper when September came along, Claire bought 350 tags and would go gator hunting. A break from what she dealt with the rest of the year, she probably wouldn't get away with it if she lived anywhere else. Except now she was the one pulling lines instead of shooting them. At least more of the time. Her and Jack got married when she was 23 btw, and in 2025, they took a trip up to Michigan because they could never make their honeymoon. Duty kept calling. Maybe the worst mistake of their lives.

The outbreak started after the started their vacation. It was chaos, just absolutely and utter chaos. There is a very good chance that if they didn't have the sets of skills they did, both Claire and her husband would have died early on. It was a constant fight, they were constantly on the move throughout Michigan and Ohio until about two years ago. An alpha had taken over one of the cities they came to rest in and was not a fan of outsiders. The people were not going to let Claire and Jack go though. The alpha wasn't happy and attacked the town, and during the slaughter, she and Jack got separated.

This is when things got a little weird. She had gotten bitten during the fight but...after two days and no symptoms, Claire decided to keep it a secret. She kept moving, at first, looking for Jack in the ruins of that town but it was clear he was long gone. Unsure if he was still alive or not, she tried following a trail but...it went cold quickly. So she ended up wondering and eventually found herself in Pennsylvania. She settled in Heritage and put her skills to good use on the boats and as a mercenary. She hated living under the rule of an alpha, but Claire didn't have a choice.

Claire doesn't remember what it was they did to anger Jaws, but it was someone doing something stupid. She wasn't even supposed to be in town when he decided to do something about it, but the slaughter that followed...it reminded her all too much of the day she lost Jack. Claire fought hard, she did, and she tried to save the people she had grown to care about but the sheer numbers overwhelmed her. She got bitten three times, she was exhausted, covered in blood...she collapsed just outside of town. When she woke up, she was somewhere else and behind bars, all her weapons gone and uncertain about what was going to happen to her.

At least she still had her food.
Equipment:
  • Large wrench
  • Standard issue 9mm pistol (two and a half clips left)
  • Clip-on flashlight plus back up rechargeable batteries
  • A camp knife
  • Basic first aid kit (bandaids, gauze, electrical tape, a small bottle of rubbing alcohol, needle, thread, and a little under half a bottle of Advil)
  • A worn-out sleeping bag
  • An extra set of clothes
  • An oddly large collection of hair ties
  • Some food (two granola bars, a can of something, some packets of water flavoring, a bottle of water plus an empty canteen, two different types of jerky, and some astronaut ice cream she found in a Micheals.)

Marren Beck

Age: 16- but she tells everyone she's 18, and its believable enough.
Gender: Female
Height: 5' 4"
Personality: Brash and rough, trying to hide behind a mask of tough competence and self assurance. Has little patience, and the more she risks showing her true, more fearful self, the angrier she gets. Very weak to skillful flattery and the concept of someone liking her.
Background: The 3rd of 5 children born to 'trailer trash' parents, Marren has been picked on endlessly through her school years and has developed quite an inferiority complex. The rest of her family dead, Marren's here because she wants to survive and make something of herself in life, or at least make something of herself in death. She wants to prove to someone, anyone, that she's somebody, and somebody to be reckoned with.
Equipment: Studded/spiked black leather gloves ("they were my dad's, I don't know where he got them."), hunting knife (3 inches long), a sawed-off shotgun, half a case of slugs, and matches.

Jack Landry

Age: 34

Gender: Male

Height: 6'4" (195cm)

Personality: Jack is a rather interesting guy. Despite his troubles as a youth, he is known as a kind and caring person who often puts others ahead of himself. While he's intelligent and doesn't go risking his life every day, the people he has helped will tell you he's wonderful soul and wonderful help. He always has a smile when it comes to dealing with people, wanting to find the most diplomatic option out. There's enough violence and bloodshed in the world as it is. Call him an optimist. But there's always a sadness hidden behind his eyes. A few people know about the wife that went missing years ago, he still wears his wedding ring, but it hurts him too much to talk about her. So he busies himself with work around town. He's a guard, but he mainly puts his skills with metal to work making and repairing knives or other things like fish hooks. Its when he's working he seems the happiest. Now, as kind as he is, everyone had their breaking point. And while it may take a while for Jack to reach his, the quickest way to do it is to mess with his loved ones. He still has a bit of that mean streak from when he was a kid, and when he turns violent, you know it's time to either apologize or run. Jack takes very little mercy.

Background: Jack, despite what the accent tells you, wasn't born in Louisiana like his wife was. He was originally a little scamp from Michigan, his parents moving deciding to move for a work opportunity when he was five. He had a happy childhood, a little sister coming into his life when he was seven, his parents always had time for him, and fortunately, he had a lot of friends. It was a good life through elementary school, but at the start of middle school there was a change. His mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and his dad had to pick up more hours at his welding job now that his mom couldn't work. His sister was too young and energetic for his mom to handle on her own so he had to pick up the slack around the house. It was stressful. Especially since he was 11 years old. It was a lot of pressure all at once, and a once cheerful kid was cracking with stress.

He found out accidentally that being mean to other people actually really helped his stress. Maybe not the way his parents would have wanted him to handle it but they weren't exactly aware of it. He did well in school, and never did anything too evil that drew attention to himself is nobody did anything about it. During his middle school years, he learned how to cook and clean for a household, and while his dad may have been under a lot of stress as well, nothing shifted in their dynamic. Old Papa Landry was still kinda and caring, though strict when he needed to be. It may be why Jack didn't go full douchebag. Anyway, his mom actually beat cancer during the summer before his freshman year, so that first year of high school he was a little more laid back. He joined the football team and quickly found out that his odd already 6-foot tall self did pretty good.

The next year wasn't all that great. His mom relapsed, her cancer came back in full force and once again Jack had to take care of the house. His sister was still really young, and his dad once again had to pick up extra hours. And his mean streak came back out. While maybe not as bad as it could have been, football both a stressor and stress relief. This would continue as his mother's health just kept deteriorating, but during the start of his third year, he met her. Claire LeBlanc. At first, they didn't like each other. He poked fun at her weight, her clothing, the extremely heavy accent she had. He didn't expect her to insult him right back with something that sounded right out of a Roast Me post on Reddit. He was...impressed.

After getting to know each other more, they started dating. It was a little weird at times, but that didn't matter. They quickly fell in love. The type of love you only ever really get once in your life. They didn't realize that for a while, but...during Trooper School, Claire threw a man twice her size and Jack immediately knew. He proposed to her when they graduated. Now, he knew about her gator hunting but was never interested in it himself. No, he had the habit of making knives. Sold for good money, he even made some custom treble hooks for other hunters. In fact, Claire always kept a camp knife on her that Jack made her.

He was 29 when they took that trip up to Michigan and things just went to shit. Just absolute chaos. They were stuck in Michigan, not knowing what was happening back home with their families as they struggled to survive. If not for the skills they had, Claire and Jack would both have been zombie chow. Moving through States they weren't used to, Jack trying to help everyone he could...when he and Claire got separated it was crushing. He scoured that town for days looking for any sign of her but he was forced to move on. It didn't take him long to find and settle in Mashipacong.

For a while, he was a mercenary, using the opportunities to get out of the town to look for Claire. But he sadly gave up. He became a guard after that, only leaving the town when someone needed backup, he also put his blade making skills to use. He did a lot of metalwork and stuff like that to help out. About a month ago on a run, he found Sasha. Unable to leave her behind, Jack adopted the young girl. And after about two years of heavy depression, he was finally starting to perk up a little. He did everything he could to make her trust him and it's now his goal to raise her.

Hearing the news of one of their neighboring towns getting destroyed was pretty jarring, but the even bigger surprise was hearing that someone survived. He hasn't seen them yet, but knowing that they're going to be given to Jaws...he's going to find a way to save them.

Equipment:
  • Combat pump-action shot-gun (15 normal shells, 25 homemade shells. Filled with quarters like Resident Evil)
  • A pair of handcuffs
  • Lightweight hatchet
  • Combat knife
  • Waterproof backpack
  • An extra change of clothes for both him and Sasha
  • Food (A bag of tension jerky, a bag of stale chips, some fruit gummies that he doesn't trust that much, two twinkies, two bottles of water, some assorted candy)
  • A small pink sippy cup for Sasha
  • Large sleeping bag
  • Protective glasses
  • A large bag of quarters, most of which is bloody

Anasthasia Crescent

Age: 22

Gender: Female

Height:160cm

Personality :She is rebellious but calculated, doesn't like something or someone she defines as weak. Likes to do her job efficiently and quick. Likes doing scouting around the town to clear her head. Always says that love hold people back and they should start caring less, but deep down she wants to be loved and to be happy again. Will do anything for her loved ones, but is hard to get truly close to her. May appear mean but she's a softie. A very moody person, one moment she might say a sweet thing to you to feel better and next moment she tells you you're an idiot. Very good at manipulation and is an expert in medical and combat knowledge. She didn't had a asthma attack in quite a while. A ptsd moment may trigger a asthma attack. Even though she may appear harsh and hot-headed she's smart and witty and still has hobbies she used to have before the disaster. She doesn't trust someone easily and works hard to maintain a healthy lifestyle (as much as she can) in order to not make the illness return with full force. Gets sleepy quite frequently because of her condition, but always overlooks that and ignores her illness. She hates when people show her pity and wants to be independent, even though in her heart she's just a traumatised child.

Background : Born in a wealthy family, her father an ex-army and her mother an army doctor. She enjoyed her childhood in a happy household with her parents and little brother in the center of Pennsylvania.
Since young she excelled in biology, chemistry, physics, maths and so more, being named a prodigy. Her father teached her hand to hand combat and how to work with guns. Everyone thought they are the best family. A family full of prodigies.
The shock came when she was diagnosed with a hard case of asthma and the doctors told her she wouldn't live past the age of 13. Her condition immediately started worsening and everything took a stroll on her body. Her mother was extremely desperate to save her so she overworked herself in order to make her life better.
Even after the heart-breaking news she never gave up and continued doing what she liked. She would often have an attack because of her tiring her body.
Her parents never gave up on her and fully supported her and her brother.
Despite her illness, she continued going to her normal school and was working hard to get accepted into medical school. She never liked pity and refused to acknowledge her condition. She wanted to make world a bright and happy place. She wanted to make others feel the happiness she feels when she's doing what she likes.
Just when the doctors proudly announced that her asthma stopped and she just got accepted into her dreams universitym.. The hell broke. An utter and never ending nightmare. The moment her life changed and the once 'sunshine' became 'dull'.
Her family was the first to get called to help with the outbreak and Anasthasia remained with her brother. They were forced to moved in one of the islands and didn't heard from their parents for a while. Their life got hard when people realised nowhere is safe enough and they just have to do a compromise. Being helpless in front of others and without her parents support her her brother got taken. It was the most traumatising event unti then.
The only memory from that day she has is her screaming and begging to be taken in his place before blacking out from an asthma attack. She woke up surrounded by a group of researchers that told her they founded her passed out.
She developed PTSD and her personality changed drastically. She became a part of the researchers's group and discreetly tried to find a cure.
Nobody knows what happened to her parents. Some are saying they are dead, some are saying they transformed. She just hopes that they are alright somewhere.
Used to have blond hair but she dyed it turquoise. She became tough and hot-headed. She thought that changing herself will permit her mind to not think about the past.
Equipment:
  1. Asthma inhaler
  2. First aid kit+Sewing kit
  3. Multifunctional tool+Lighter
  4. Solar powered flashlight
  5. A small photo of her family before the outbreak

Sasha
Age: 6
Gender: Female
Height: 3' 9"
Personality: Observant, quiet, serious, Background: Not much is known about Sasha. Found by Jack Landry FireMaiden FireMaiden , the child was alone and skinny, and seemingly frightened into silence. She hasn't spoken much at all except for giving Jack her name and occasionally whispering into his ear. Sasha will take off without warning if she witnesses a zombie attack or sees a lot blood or human/zombie remains. There's little sense to what she does when she's like this, but it points a shadowy finger towards what could have happened to her family. She'll also forget who she is or where she came from during these episodes, only repeating incoherent thoughts from another time and place to anyone who listens. The clearest of these has been, "Do you know where my mommy is? She's not in her body anymore."
Equipment: The clothes she's wearing, which is a dirty light pink summer dress.

Hugo "Bloody" Lukas

Age: 21
Gender: male
Height: 5'10"
Personality: Hugo is a bit of an eccentric. When the apocalypse broke out, confining people to a lawless land where the rules of society go unchecked, something changed in him (though, it's possible that the fall of mankind may have simply released some deep seated blood thirst that had always been there as well). To Hugo, zombies exhibit the perfect opportunity to covet the art of human dismemberment, a creative sport that requires dedication, philosophy, and talent. Though he doesn't go around murdering living people or have a strong desire to lone wolf the zombie apocalypse, he also doesn't particularly care for the feelings or intentions of others. He will do what he must for the group and for what few human being may stomach his odd personality. To them he can show some shreds of so-called "decency." His mind may have broke under the pressure of losing everything-- or maybe it was the drugs-- but he is still a force to be reckoned with. Don't insult the crazy man with the chainsaw.
Background: Hugo "Bloody" Lukas gained his name partially for being a chainsaw wielding maniac and partially for the fact that he has a pronounced British accent here in post-apocalypse Philadelphia. Growing up in East-London with soon-to-be-separated parents, he dreamed of moving to a place far away from the emotional tension and alcoholism of his youth. Once he turned 19, he decided to study abroad in the US for his University degree.

One may ask oneself, how would a British college student find a chainsaw in downtown Philadelphia when he doesn't even have a driver's license yet? The simple answer to that question in his good friend Kiari Fukuhashi (below ↓ ).
Hugo is not the best study despite coming all this way for University and spending money on American education. For him, sometimes the only way to relax from a hard day's work at the library is to indulge in... some less conventional methods of stimulation. Hugo would never admit to any sort of addiction whether it be Xanax or anything worse, but as the Apocalypse drags on and supplies start to run low, it may be only a matter of time before certain hidden truths come to light.

Money is no longer valuable ever since the economy collapsed, but sometimes for survival you need to make the an effort to fit in. With a bit of a chainsaw obsession, some loose ties to the darker side of society, and the villain-esque backstory of a less than happy childhood, Hugo didn't have too many choices from the bank of post-apocalyptic life-time careers. He became a mercenary along with his best-friend, Kiari. The two have worked together on multiple job sorts, whether they be clearing out hordes of zombies, defending the lives of important clients, or assassinating the hapless rivals of competitive factions, there are no jobs too dangerous or too unethical for them to take on. That leads us to the present day.
Equipment: Black+Decker chainsaw, flashlight, backpack, several packs of cigarettes, lighters, latex gloves, misc. survival supplies

IMG-0543.jpg
Kiari Fukuhashi

Age: 22
Gender: female
Height: 5'6"
Personality: Kiari has lived a life of harsh reality, bloodshed, and the callous disregard for ethics since long before the apocalypse stole that same innocence from the rest of the world. She has lived many lives, seen many deaths, and at this point nothing phases her. At least, that is what she would like to say, but a tough exterior disguises the heart of a person that truly just wants to be free of the burden of blood. There is nothing that she wouldn't give to live a peaceful life, to come home to a loving family and maybe even a dog. Dogs are great. Unfortunately, she would have no idea what that sort of existence looks like. She's lived too long in the shadows to know how to experience what is light. Stalwart and graceful in every way, Kiari glides across rooms as if their floors are made of ice. She's not clumsy. She may fumble with her heart, but not with her footsteps.
Background: Kiari grew up predisposed to a life of crime. Her parents were Yakuza. They raised her to fight and speak the language of the streets. She has always been an independent soul, even as a child, and thus took quickly to the martial arts, side arms, and training with blades. Though Yakuza members aren't exactly known for their progressiveness, nobody could deny the skills this young woman in their midst presented. As such, she was quickly handed off from her parents to be trained up as a bodyguard for the higher ranking members of the syndicate.

Kiari first assignment as a bodyguard was to protect the interests of a drug cartel stationed in New England, a group under the alias 'Red Dragon.' It was not a small ring, but the grandeur of their name kept local gangs and small fry from picking fights that would've ended for them in disaster. Every once in a while as an initiate she would have to take down a rival mole, hustler, con-man, or assassin. The constant surprises would keep her limber and ready for the worst that was yet to come. Under the eventually that an apocalypse would break out in Pennsylvania, Kiari came into that first year with the skills and capability to escape the confines of Yakuza employment and make her way into downtown Philidelphia alone.

Kiari decided to become a mercenary only because she had the skills to do it well and the ruthlessness to prove her experience. It turns out that being a former bodyguard translates well into hired killing. In the process of a job one day, she stumbled across the raving savagery of Hugo "Bloody" Lukas. Though most people would've abandoned a perceived "liability" such as him to the zombies, or better yet, used him as a human meat-shield, Kiari saw herself in him somewhat. To see the savagery she had experienced her whole life embodied so avidly into one man, she felt sympathy for him, a sympathy she had never felt before in her life. They became fast friends and shared everything. She supplied him with weapons and other things. In return he protected her back and defended her socially at the times when she didn't have the words to speak for herself. Surely if someone like him was redeemable as a human being, then someone like her who had lived so darkly would be too. That was the hope... at least.
Equipment: Knives, a side pistol, tazer, Yakuza tattoos, disposable cell phone, duct tape, backpack, misc. survival supplies

Anthony Moore

Age: 20
Gender:Male
Height: 173 cm ~ 5'8"

Personality: Anthony has always been a loner, even before the Apocalypse started, he lead a reclusive life in an orphanage. Never really made any friends and the orderly were starting to get worried for the boy as he was approaching the age where he must be thrown out on the streets. The few times he interacted with the others, he was brash, blunt, and uncharismatic. When the Apocalypse swept down and claimed the lives of his peers, he didn't even blink at the carnage instead choosing to move on with his life. Incapable of empathy and the only thing which drives him is his own survival. Isn't violent towards other people but doesn't have qualms with killing them. At the very least, he is honest. One of his favorite pass times is actually book reading. He never drops his guard around other survivors.

Background:"I never knew my parents, grew up in an orphanage with the other little shits like me, can't imagine my parents loved me either, probably dumped me at the door to save themselves the trouble of having me. The orderly were strict as hell, going 'Don't touch that' or 'Don't say that' even 'Go on, play with the others' and when I asked 'Why?' they answer 'Because I said so' Christ, not even six-year old me could stand them and my anger with them grew as I grew. I still remember their faces as the Zs chewed out their liver and entrails, while I had a huge grin. Not everybody from the orphanage died however most of the other kids and 1 or 2 yahoos from the staff survived. I managed to slip out of the building during the chaos.

I found myself alone on the streets, the Z horde on one side and desperate survivors on the other, so desperate that they would kill to live. I asked myself 'How could a fifteen year old survive in this world?' I answered 'Skills' I needed skills to survive. Of course, I wasn't entirely unprepared, I did know how to lock pick some doors and how to be quiet but those things alone wouldn't suffice. Skills are half knowledge, half practice. Where can someone get knowledge? The library of course! I stole some canned goods from an oblivious party then hoofed it to the closest library. To my surprise, it was in tiptop shape, some bullet holes here and there, half-eaten corpses but mostly abandoned. That library became my den for the next few months, with the occasional venture to get some essentials. I plowed through survival guides, skill books and if the mood strikes me some fiction.

I still have some of the books in my backpack, always nice to brush up. The library couldn't become my permanent abode, some pissants decided to squat around and I overheard them talking about how it would make a good place to set up when I was sneaking around. I packed up my things and left. Ever since then I just moved from place to place.

I ran with some other survivor parties but they never lasted long. Either they got chomped or I left, that's just how it goes.

Oh? You're wondering how I got this little rifle? Nicked it off a I'm uncultured who thought he could kill me. Came with a suppressor, it's only semi-automatic, didn't come with a full auto mode. Nice sling, matches my jacket. You got some bullets though? Running a tad low."
Equipment:
  • A suppressed AR with a sling. 18 rounds left. The rounds are 5.56 mm;
  • Small combat knife with a leather sheath;
  • Green camo backpack;
  • 1 half-filled water bottle, 1 full water bottle;
  • Improvised garrote wire
  • 2 multivitamin nutritional fruit-bars
  • A survival guide, marksmanship book and currently a thriller book.
  • Improvised lock picks
  • Green camo clothing
  • Combat boots
  • Toothbrush
  • Red Gloves

HENRY GALLOWS

Age: 22
Gender: Male
Height: 6'3"
Personality: Before the outbreak, Henry was a lonely and sheltered farm boy. Once it happened, a combination of tragedy and deep realizations about the nature of people matured him into a realistic person. In the process of abandoning his father, retreating in terror in all his scavenging missions, lying and exagerrating about how those missions went, and noticing that the other scavengers on Mashipacong were doing the exact same, Henry realized that all the tropes of post-apocalyptic fiction were false. There were a few fearless people, but the great majority boasted endlessly about their courage before and after something happened. During the fight, however, terror overcame them and they fled, unless they had other people with them to support them and shame them into standing their ground. Today, Henry is almost obsessive about teamwork, and is always trying to unify the islanders behind some kind of activity to "improve morale", knowing full well the importance of that as one of the first "scavengers" on the River. Despite this, he's not peppy as he's been through a lot, and knows full well that the excitement after a pump up speech quickly dissipates when humans come face to face with a horde of zombies. Instead, his general demeanor is pushy, insistent, and even a bit threatening, as he has far more faith in people's cowardice than their heroism. In any discussion, his ultimate goal is to build trust and know who he can rely on.

Because of his formative experiences in the first year of the outbreak, Henry is incredibly self-effacing and sees right through other people's boasting. He does not believe in the archetype of the individual badass (even when it's true). When the outbreak hit, he was too young and too inexperienced in combat to become any kind of politician or community leader, but, as he's aged, he's started to develop opinions. Henry genuinely wants what's best for everyone, and thinks humanity's main failing is its division - survivors on islands are unable to trust each other, and islands are unable to trust each other. Fighting an enemy that feels no fear (or so everyone thinks), humanity is gripped by terror, and it's exactly that terror which has made theoretically defensible islands slaves to a zombie Alpha who couldn't possibly take them all on at once.

Background: Henry grew up on a farm in Western Pennsylvania before the outbreak. His upbringing was unexceptional - he spent most of his life homeschooled, and, like other people growing up in remote communities, took any chance he had to get involved in what limited community there was. That usually meant going to Church, organizing the youth group, and shooting empty glasses of beer in the evening. By day, his life was backbreaking work, sometimes from 6 to 8, from the age of 13 helping his family with their cows.

When the outbreak struck, Henry was only 17, his brother, sister, and mother all fled to the river, following the advice of the preppers who were interviewed on TV and Radio shortly before all those stations went dark. His father didn't want to leave the farm, and Henry volunteered to stay with him and defend it and their cows to the end. Eventually, the swarm made its way from the cities, the suburbs, and the towns to the countryside and fell on the farming community. Father and son, the Gallows fought until they were out of ammunition to keep the farm, then picked up their woodcutting axes. Protected by half a dozen layers under hockey uniforms, they were immune to most bites, but finally, Henry's father was brought to the ground. He wasn't bitten yet and could still have been saved had Henry been braver, but this wasn't a Disney movie. Henry, like countless soldiers throughout history who saw the fall of their general, was gripped with terror and fled without another word, abandoning his father, his farm, and his cows, hopping on an ATV and heading to the river. Grabbing a rowboat and abandoning his ATV, he rowed downstream to several islands before finally finding his way to Mashipacong where his family was. Every place he visited, Henry, holding a bloodied axe and covered in blood, received plauditz from survivors, who called him a zombie slayer - but he knew the truth.

Settling down in Mashipacong, Henry decided to channel his shame into sacrificing himself for the people who were there, going on risky scavenging missions with his makeshift "bite armor". Everyone thought this was a great idea, as they saw Henry as their zombie slayer. Every time he made a resolution to risk death, however, he soon found himself running in the moment, grabbing whatever supplies he could from a much less well protected convenience store and lying when he got home, saying he had gotten the job done. For a while, Henry thought he was just a coward, but soon he saw that other young men in the island village, inspired by Henry's rising popularity, were putting on their own thick coats, motorbike helmets, and wearing three layers of pants to go out and scavenge themselves. Each of them always came back with few bloodstains and a surprisingly small pack of loot. Henry soon saw that everyone was gripped by the same terror of the enemy, and how could you not be? Humans could only see in one direction, and, with their flanks unsecured, it was perfectly reasonable for everyone to flee, especially when it was so easy to lie about what really happened - anyone could cover their axe in the blood of a corpse and claim to be a bona fide zombie slayer.

Realizing this, Henry started organizing all the scavengers into groups, which were much more effective, as each scavenger was afraid of disgracing himself in front of the others, had confidence that the others would cover his flanks, and knew they were being led by an experienced scavenger. Unfortunately, the scavenging business ceased to become relevant within a year - canned food started to run out, and scavengers could only work on a limited area by the Delaware river. After this, Henry joined his family in running the small farm on Mashipacong island and fishing on the side. He never had good relations with the Sheriff of the town, a former police lieutenant, as the Sheriff's support was strongest among the refugees that had come to Mashipacong at a later date, and they wanted to convert the farm into more space to build shacks. Henry also used to pass the time by going out with his old scavenger buddies on "hunts", where they'd try to shoot zombies with rifles from their boats. The Sheriff stopped this after it became clear that the zombies were organized and had a leader who he didn't want to piss off.

The past few years, Henry has been passing the time by trying to collect bricks so the shacks on the island could be upgraded to actual houses, by trying to get the survivors to "cellarstorm" (barnstorming, but digging cellars so they can have more living space), and by becoming the "reigning champ" in the island's main sports, namely freestyle wrestling and speedshooting, out of maybe a hundred or so competitors.

Equipment:

Two semi-automatic 8-shot revolvers, a knife, and a katana. When leaving the island, he wears a fencing outfit - usually enough to resist most bites.

Alistar Steele

Age: 26

Gender: male

Height: 5'9

Personality: Alistar is one of those guys many can depend on, be it for helping with scouting, or forging a custom and well-made blade. While normally a recluse thanks to his High Functioning Aspergers Syndrome, He does like to socialize. Be Warned, if he feels he has been wronged in some way, he is very happy to play the long game that'll more than likely lead to a painfully gruesome end. While he doesn't care much for the heat and damp cold of the lower 48, in the winter he is known to thrive.

Background: Before the outbreak, Alistar had just passed his journeyman's test as an ABS Smith, and had been serving in the ASDF (Alaska State Defense Force). When it hit, much of the Canadian/Alaskan border Fell, Mostly due to the wall of guns on the Alaskan side as well as the colder temperatures. Because of this, Anchorage retained it's title of Crossroads of the world due to it's many docks and airfields. Growing up in the anchorage area, he was constantly around military and hunters so guns and civic minded business were always apart of him. When the boarders were secured, along with several mining and drilling assets secured, Alistar and a large group were sent south to find survivors and assess the situation in DC if possible along with any other military posts. What he and his brothers and sisters found was chaos. Every month the group seemed to lose a member, and by the time he found his way into Fort Indiantown Gap, much of the place was looted and left in ruin.
