Basics:
Name: Jason Riviera
Age: 8
Sexuality: Bisexual
Race: Vixen/Tiefling (I'll explain in the 'other' section.)
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Kingdom/Empire: N/A (Nonaligned)
Occupation: Servant/Thief

Personality:
Traits:
 • Curious
 • Sneaky
 • Easily entertained
 • 'Cute'
 • Energetic
 • Optimistic
Flaws:
 • Autistic (I'll explain in summary)
 • Treats everything like a game
 • Annoying
 • Overly honest
 • Informal
 • Too trusting
 • Unempathetic
Likes:
 • Sweets
 • Anyone kind to him
 • Foxes
 • Demons
 • Warm things
Dislikes:
 • Cats
 • Loud noises
Summary:
So, a good phrase to describe Jason would be: 'Out of his comfort zone but too shy to complain.' Being autistic, Jason doesn't understand abstract concepts like love or satisfaction, can't relate or empathise that well and only really works in absolutes and routines. He is energetic to high heaven and curious, but encountering something he doesn't understand makes him quiet and... Sad. If he trusts you and you've been kind to him, Jason will put his full trust in you. While he seems apathetic and rude, he probably just doesn't know how to interact with you. But, there's another side to Jason, his demonic side that's incredibly charming and understands a lot more than his 'companion'. This side isn't cruel or evil, just protective and a great sensor of people trying to bullshit Jason. This personality is referred to as River.

Appearance:
Hair: Snowy white.
Eyes: Mint green.
Build: Short and thin.
Complexion: As white as his hair.
Attire: Typical rogue attire, a cloth shirt, cloth trousers and a cloak, all in questionable condition.
Scars: One along the left side of his neck, actually a major weak point.
Summary/Picture:

Jason is a short boy, at 3'0" and his features are even smaller, except his eyes. He has fair skin, green eyes, snowy hair and fox ears of the same colour. Going down his body, you see that he's incredibly thin, even for his height. Coming to his waist, we see a fox tail at the back. Overall: small boy with a white and green colour scheme.

Backstory:
Hometown: Haystack, a small farming town in a region informally known as the 'Armistice Valley', a zone of disputed ownership between the empire and the kingdom. While the area is frequently taken by both sides, it is always disputed who should own it in the few short armistices that have taken place. So even now during this time of frightened collaboration, it is owned by both the empire and the kingdom, according to who you ask. (Kind of like Poland, Ukraine and Alsaice-Lorraine.)
Relationships:
Well, the family he served were alright to him, some more than others and most others tended to leave him alone. He considers River a separate entity, a view that goes both ways as they envision each other as separate people living in one body. Anyone both trust are held very highly in Jason's eyes, so that's a good few possible relationships.
Summary:
Well, Vixen originally evolved and are only normally found in a forest near Haystack. When the residents discovered this, they saw it as easy labour and tourism. Jason was born from a female Vixen servant and a Tiefling who was caught in the village and also served the family. He was raised early on to be a servant, training that was interrupted by Jason's obvious learning disability. His village was one of the first to be taken over by the ravine's dark creatures, an event that plays in his head even months after. After this, Jason went around different towns in the 'Armistice Alley', not wanting to risk documented entry to either big nations. After his village fell, he had to make a living for himself in the surrounding area, so resorted to petty theft and pickpocketing when he needed to. Eventually, he met an older thief who took him as an apprentice, teaching him more about stealth and using daggers, even giving Jason some weapons of his own. (Stolen, of course.) While Jason felt bad about stealing, he felt even worse when his 'mentor' got caught and imprisoned. The time on his own after this had lead to him hearing the call to go into the ravine and offering his life to avenge his village.

Abilities:
Spells:
 • Chemical Imbalance: Jason can adjust the levels of chemicals in his body through and organ that performs a process similar to respiration, converting the chemicals. This is only really useful for improving Jason's mood and he has only used it subconsciously once or twice.
 • All or Nothing: The last resort. Jason loses nearly all control, his power and strength increasing twofold for half an hour before being nearly powerless for a week. This is how he escaped Haystack, as before then it was dormant. he never remembers what happens during it and it only activates in times of extreme emotional peril. Jason doesn't know that he has this ability, as he never remembers what happens or how it activated.
 • Both abilities are genetic and were passed down from his mother. He isn't really aware of them, so was surprised when his mother told him he had powers.
Skills:
 • Jason has quite sensitive hearing. This is both an advantage, allowing him to hear danger coming a bit before others and warn them; and a handicap, as he is autistic and loud noise, overstimulation or just noise could result in his brain just shutting down as he tries to stay calm. His hearing is a result of a more complex, canine inner ear structure.
 • Jason is more intelligent than most people his age, knowing a decent amount about tactics and why people make decisions. He's also a fast learner, provided you teach him in terms that he can understand.
Weaknesses:
 • The scar on his neck is a weak spot to the point where even a weak punch there could knock Jason out or kill him.
 • Jason is small and light, therefore easy to knock around, overpower or pin down.
 • Jason is very easy to knock off-balance, due to his tail acting as a counterweight that he has always had a problem accounting for.
Combat:
Armour:
Jason only uses very light leather clothing, opting not to use armour for better mobility.
Weapon:
Jason uses a set of twin daggers, quartz hilt with an emerald blade, in nearly all fights.
Fighting Style:
Jason relies on outmaneuvering and outsmarting his enemy, dodging and striking when his enemy is off guard.

Other:
Inventory: Not much except his his clothes, weapon and an amethyst pendant that he sometimes wears for luck.
Theme: Demons by Imagine Dragons
Quotes:
"Wait, you're not a giant? You are to me!"
*Inside Jason's Head*
River: "Hey, you know what would be fun?" Jason: "What?" River: "Not being a naive little child, you should try it sometime!" Jason: "You say that like you're older than me."
Other Notes:
 • Vixens are part of a group of supernaturals that evolved from animals socially close to humans, namely foxes, rapidly through magical influence, becoming similar to humans apart from some features, namely size, fox ears and a tail.
 • For those who haven't played D&D, Tieflings are a humanoid race descended from demons, they have dark skin, solid colour eyes with no sclera or pupils, ram-like horns and long, non-prehensile tails. They can see in the dark and resistant to fire. Jason has none of these traits.

Summary:
Elayne being born of noble blood often uses it to her advantage and sometimes demeans others who she considers below her social rank. Her lawful good nature causes her to abide the rules and strongly believes that things will go wrong without it. She follows the rules no matter what, even if there's an easier path. She respect the authorities and will obey them even if deep down she doesn't want to. Elayne doesn't show much emotion and prefers to think logically rather than emotionally. This causes her to restrict herself from doing the things she loves because she believes it is not fit for her and often forgets to ask herself what she really wants.

Appearance

Hair: Black
Eyes: Icy blue
Build: Slender with average height
Complexion: Pale
Attire: White structured dress with a belt that contains healing potions and other necessities and black boots.
Scars: None
Summary/Picture:
mage.jpg

Backstory
Hometown: The capital of the kingdom. She lives in an estate in which the whole Ocalillan clan also lives.

Relationships: Her relationship with her family is bound by one goal. To preserve the family's honor. Elayne doesn't feel connected to them at all, it's like they're strangers living in the same manor. Her mother, though she used to read stories to her as a child, is now busy on getting the favors of social elites and often finds Elayne a potential suitor. While her father never showed any paternal affection to her and always expects her to outdo her cousins.

Summary: The Ocalillan clan is a famous family of mages in the kingdom. Elayne's great grandfather was once the most powerful mage and the right hand of the king himself. This caused a lot of pressure to her and her siblings. Ever since she was a child, her parents were monitoring the progress of her magical abilities and would sometimes humiliate her if they're not satisfied with her academic performance. In the end of every school year there's a ceremony in which every level (grade) performs the magical abilities they learned throughout the year. While the other students were excited to show off their skills, Elayne was about to vomit. She was extremely nervous and wasn't confident about her abilities at all. In that year, they tackled about the elemental magic spells. She was never good in any of those, she barely even passed in all of her tests. In her part of the performance, she was about to perform pyrokinesis. Her worst nightmare happened. She burned half of the stadium. That earned her a slap and humiliation from her father in front of the whole clan. Ever since then she didn't let herself fail at any given task, no matter how hard it is. She will make her family proud even if it costs her life.

Abilities
Spells:
Voiding- Allows her to create blackhole-like portals in which she can use to travel between places however if she uses this spell longer than fifteen minutes without rest, it will result to dizziness and fainting. Distance depends on how powerful a mage is, and since Elayne just finished school, she can only make/travel between portals within 1.5 kilometers.
Ilusionism- Grants her the ability to alter the perception of reality of her target by focusing on their senses. (Ex: she can make her target think they're drowning in the ocean which causes them to drown in real life). In order to create an illusion, she must first experience something that she will base her illusion from. As her power increases, she will be able to create an illusion even if she didn't experience it first.
Skills:
Elayne also studied medicine so she can heal someone as long as it's not severe since it is not her specialty. Like shallow wounds, broken bones, common diseases, etc.
Weakness:
Though she's a mage, she lacks physical strength, she's fragile and doesn't know hand-to-hand combat. She also has a hard time adapting to new environments.

Combat
Armour: Light steel armor that covers her torso and shoulders down to her forearm. The materials in her armor needs to be light so she can easily move around and travel through portals.
Weapon: Her spells, but she also has a small dagger attached to her belt just in case her enemies gets closer.
Fighting Style: Elayne focuses on killing the enemy from afar before they can reach her. She counts her targets and calculates how much spells does she need and how long does it take to kill them. Aside from this, she also aids her allies by distracting their enemies with her illusions.

Other
Inventory: Healing potions and her dagger.
Theme: Yellow Flicker Beat by Lorde
Quotes:
"My father would not approve this!"
"I would rather spend my time juggling horse manure in front of the king's court than to ever be seen interacting with a filthy commoner."
"Please, the last time I saw someone that idiotic was when Aunt Heidi believed that she was anything other than old and lonely."

Introduction:
Name: Alois "Louise" Vanviel
Age: 21
Sexuality: Asexual
Race: Wood Elf
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Kingdom/Empire: Chubic Kingdom
Occupation: Apprentice Member of Elite Group "Wing Clippers"; Designation: Apprentice Archer

Personality:
Traits:
 • Mischevious
 • Loyal
 • Trustworthy
 • Curious
 • Optimistic
 • Empathetic
Flaws:
 • Fear of being alone and in complete silence
 • Claustrophobic
 • Clingy
 • Trusting
Likes:
 • Archery
 • Nature
 • Animals
 • Talking
Dislikes:
 • Silence
 • Loneliness
 • Nothingness
 • Tight Spaces
 • Absolute Darkness where she can't feel anything
Summary: Alois is a cheery and bubbly woman which you often wouldn't see in a soldier who's training to be one of the deadliest killers in the war. She often animatedly speaks whenever she gets excited and a lot of people often find this endearing - but sometimes annoying (not that they seem to want to tell that to Alois). She's also highly affectionate to friends - one could say she's touch starved too as she often finds herself hooking her arm around theirs, leaning on them or outright hugging them just because she wants to - whether they be male or female or neither or both.

Alois on the battlefield and on training, however, couldn't be more different. She wouldn't say that she doesn't care for her enemies - they were lives too! - but she knows that she needs to shoot them down mercilessly if they want to win the war. She closed off her heart to enemies in an attempt to not get hurt for every life she has slain. You will rarely meet a girl as empathetic as Alois Vanviel.

Appearance:
Hair: Pale Blonde
Eyes: Bright Blue
Build: Athletic, Lithe, Flexible
Complexion: Unnaturally Pale (considering what she does)
Attire: She often wears a variety of cotton shirts and trousers - and sometimes even comfortable and flowing dresses whenever she is permitted to wear casual clothing. However, she always wears a medallion that shows a serpent in an ouroborous state.
Scars: Alois has nicks and scrapes from training, of course. She has one long nasty scar on her right arm - from her wrist all the way to her elbow.
Summary/Picture:
5e0c02399ba4371a70ca6da5b5ac95fec5d7ab19r1-1080-1549v2_00.jpg

Backstory:
Hometown: Luminosa - a fairly well-off city in the Chubic Kingdom where trading is the main way of life if you're not being trained for the army. The Hunter-Adventurer's Guild Hybrid "Jormungandr" resides in this city and operates to protect the city.
Relationships:
 • Gweyl Vanviel [Older Sister / Alive] - A well known healer among the Chubic Kingdom ranks. She doesn't have an official position in the army as she runs a clinic for anyone who is injured. She is sometimes employed during the war but is known for being honor bound to heal any injured person - may the be an enemy or an ally.
 • Her parents don't keep in contact with their children anymore, spending their time wilting away in one of the academies of magic in the Chubic Kingdom. Alois does still seem to care about them, but never to the extent of Gweyl.
 • Richard Moore [Master / Dead] - Before his untimely death, the half-breed is part of the Wing Clippers and has been known to be a very good shot - being able to take down an enemy from 100 meters away - with a little aid from magic, of course. A second generation Wing Clipper; Designation: First Class Archer
 • The other apprentices have a friend-rival relationship with her. They don't hate her at all, but they all compete against each other so that they can improve. There is no evidence of bad blood between all of them and Alois treats them all as her own brothers and sisters.
Summary: Alois was a child who never knew how to just... sit down. She wasn't immature, but she was fidgety. She loved moving around. She loved learning about new things. She loved exploring. But her parents weren't exactly the exploratory type. Both being scholars of magic, Alois had been destined to follow in their footsteps just like how her older sister did. But Alois didn't like magic as much as her family did - she knew it was pretty and that it was useful but she rarely felt inclined to actually study it in-depth. She expressed her feelings to Gweyl who supported her sister in what she had loved - adventure.

Gweyl and Alois managed to escape her parents for a weekend and ended up in Jormungandr where they were greeted... quite nicely if she were to be honest. What you expected to be a home for barbarians like their parents said was completely different from what they saw. It was a family. Despite Gweyl barely in her teen years at 13 and Alois at 12, they welcomed them warmly and gave them a rundown of the guild and - of course curiously - questioned why they were there in the first place without supervision. The Chubic Kingdom wasn't exactly safe for children to roam alone, even in broad daylight. They explained Alois's situation and they agreed to the deal of attempting to train the elf and maybe accept her into the guild if she was good enough by the end of a year.

Every weekend, Alois snuck out of her house with the help of her older sister and trained in secret. She'd always come back with bruises that Gweyl would heal so that their parents wouldn't suspect. And honestly, Alois felt like her life was perfect. In Luminosa, you could barely feel the war going on since they were far from the border. You can imagine a peaceful life of adventuring as Alois was accepted into the ranks of Jormungandr and was given a medallion. Her parents, furious, had all but disowned her so she was forced to say in the guild. Not that she was complaining.

The girl enjoyed her time in the guild with the occasional visit of her older sister who had become a well-known cleric. At the age of 18, however, she was pulled out of the innocent thinking she had as she was chosen by Richard Moore - an archer of the Wing Clippers - to be his apprentice. She had no choice but to accept. Richard was a kind half-breed (Alois was never sure what he was) and taught her everything he knew. He started off with archery and though she was good at it, she never could have reached her level without the teachings of her master. Days slowly bled into years until Richard quite literally bleeds in front of her as the monsters reached the front lines.

Alois never got to complete her training on close quarter combat. Alois never got to see her master grow old and she would simply replace him. And she regretted it.

Abilities:
Spells:
 • Light Magic: The extent of her knowledge on light magic had been cut short due to the death of her master. However, she does know how to emit light from her hands and how to create arrows from magic - though this can prove to be taxing and is ill-advised unless used as a last resort. She aims to further her abilities on how to use it.
Skills:
 • Archery - Having been trained since young as an archer, she is deemed good enough of an archer to be put in the front lines along with the elite group. Though she may not be at the level of her master, she can be considered better than average.
 • Marksmanship - A side effect from learning archery, she has good intuition when it comes to predicting where a moving target would end up on before she releases the arrow.
 • Acrobatics - The Wing Clippers were known to using their surroundings to their advantages, and this meant they needed to know how to get around even on uneven ground.
 • Nature's Child - Being a Wood Elf gives her a natural attunement to nature. She feels at home when she is surrounded by trees and animals and she feels like she can feel their emotions which makes creating bonds with animals easier.
Weaknesses:
 • Close Quarter Combat - The poor lass never got too in-depth training. Sure, she can swing a sword or use a knife, but she doesn't have a proper technique or form. The difference between the two has her stumped in how to train for it without proper tutelage
 • Ditzy - Not in the way that she's stupid, but she's not very good at focusing on one task at hand. She needs to be doing things that she enjoys and once she gets bored, it's hard for her to focus. Puzzles and brain games are some of the things she finds completely and utterly boring.
 • Senses - Alois is a woman who relies on her five senses as if her life depends on it. And it does. Rob that from her and even if it was just an illusion, she falls in a state of utter panic and can be considered immobilized for quite some time.
Combat:
Armour: Tailored along the lines of this. Favoring padded leather for both its flexibility and lightness, Alois is dressed from head to toe in padded leather armor - enchanted to have increased durability but still not nearly as effective as metal. She also has a hooded garb that she uses when she tries to hide who she is. This is often accompanied by a dull golden mask that is known to be worn among their platoon. As an apprentice, she hasn't obtained her platoon's special armor.
Weapon: Bow and arrows along with magic. She keeps two daggers at her side even though she doesn't know how to effectively use them.
Fighting Style: Mid-Long range attacker who is best at the back lines of an attack. She focuses on telltale signs of vulnerabilities and weaknesses on body parts of an enemy and strikes there.

Other:
Inventory: Never seen without emergency food and a waterskin within one of her pockets that lines her outfit. She carries around a knapsack that contains extra food and water as well as clothing and two notebooks with a pen and inkwell
Theme: (optional)
Quotes:
"Do you think fighting a war is fun? It's not. It's just needless bloodshed for a reason no one even knows anymore. Decades of hate that just passes down the generations without rhyme or reason. War is never beautiful."
"I would give my life for others if it meant that people wouldn't get hurt anymore."
"I can feel your pain. Letting it out can make you feel better. Trust me."
Other Notes:
An elite group of hunters that were employed by the king of the Chubic Kingdom to fight in the war. The original twenty have come from five different guilds all across the Chubic Kingdom and have banded together seeking one thing - money. These group of hunters have been the best of the best and could shoot down their winged opponents like they shoot game - merciless, ruthless and for them, a game.

The tradition of getting four of the best hunters in each guild has continued up to this day. Some are trained young. Some are just talented. Some are simply more hardworking than others. However, they will only get those with the potential to be better. Each member will choose their apprentice after seven years of serving under the Wing Clippers. In the case that they die without an apprentice to take over, the guild from where the dead member is from must choose among their ranks.

They are divided into two squads - the archers and the fighters. While all of them can use the bow and swords, they still specialize in their own fields. These are further divided four classes - First, Second, Third and Apprentice. They are not divided by years of service, but rather by skill. It has surprisingly not been a reason for bad blood between ages as they all have to judge whether one can advance to the next level or not.

The Wing Clippers currently have no remaining members aside from ten apprentices who have not completed their training yet. Retired Wing Clippers have come up in an attempt to train the younger generation so the squad may still continue to flourish.

Jormungandr - a hunter-adventurer hybrid guild that allows for a variety of people to join so long as they are willing to work hard for them. Their only aim is money. There is no honor to speak of, not in the Chubic kingdom. Most would say that they are simple barbarians and don't expect that they act more closely to a family than a military group. If there is anything that is more important to them than money, it is each other. They will never go against their own and that's what makes it so welcoming after you get past the rough exterior and reputation of the guild.

Luminosa was actually built around the guild but the guild itself until the safety has attracted more and more people and it became known as the trading capital of the Chubic Kingdom - though never taking away the capital name from the original one. They do protect the city as best as they can and often puts apprentices on patrol to aid the guards who seem to have trouble keeping the thieves and bandits out of their territory.

Introduction:

Name: Elliot “Robin” Albury

Alignment: Neutral Good

Occupation: None

Personality:

Traits:
 • Idealistic
 • Imaginative
 • Charismatic
Flaws:
 • Jumps easily to conclusions
 • Can’t stand the sight of gore
 • Stubborn to a degree
 • Runs away from his problems
Likes:
 • Stories
 • Warm weather
 • Travelling
 • Being clean
Dislikes:
 • Blood
 • Gore
 • The cold
 • Being trapped in one place for too long
Summary:

Elliot is a storyteller down to his bones. His mind is constantly spinning and weaving elaborate tales for the most mundane of things. Once he’s set on a story, you will find it hard to change his mind. He is not one for repetition and the ordinary- he would rather be discovering something new and interesting to add to his tales.

Though he has left his past life behind, Elliot still prides himself on his manners and his chivalrous gestures- something good from the remnants of his upbringing. That aside, it will take a lot for him to drop his courteous manners- for the persona of a charismatic folk hero is a character that he’s unknowingly written for himself in his mind, and he’ll be damned before he deviates from the script.

Appearance:

Hair: Brown, previously reaching his shoulders, but has since been cut short.
Eyes: Green
Build: 170cm, slightly broad shouldered and toned.
Complexion: Tanned
Attire: Dark blue tunic and a brown leather belt over plain brown pants tucked into his boots.
Scars: He has a faded scar over his left eyebrow from when he nicked himself as a kid, playing with his mother’s short sword.
Summary/Picture:
b1342dc81b5b2238d3811d3ec28fd2ff7a66fe2dr2-530-883v2_00.jpg

Backstory:

Hometown: The fiefdom of Graycairn, a feudal town of the Empire, run by the Albury family. The landbound territory sits nestled within a large forest, where the people have cleared away enough trees for them to raise enough livestock to feed themselves and the territories above. In the centre of the town sits a large stone-grey manor, the home of the Alburys.

Relationships:

Saelis Albury: Elliot’s mother, a knight of the Empire. She was the first and only heir of the Alburys- a military family that steadfastly served the Empire as warriors and knights. Saelis had been a palace guard in the days of her youth, but was called away to the frontlines shortly after Elliot was born. There she lasted for five years and rose quickly in the ranks before being slain in battle. Elliot has never met her- and only knows her from old letters and drawings done by his father. In his mind, Saelis was a glorious knight who could fell the enemies with a single strike of her sword. Whether that had been the truth or not, his father never bothered to correct him.

Alan Albury: Elliot’s father, a historian who married into the Albury family. He grew up in the middle classes of Graycairn and was a childhood friend of Saelis. Long before they had married, Alan had been an apprentice to the Albury’s historian, and that was where he picked up the skills that he would later need to run the fief when Saelis was sent to fight in the war. He would often read stories to Elliot, and occasionally made up tales involving Saelis to fill the gap that her absence had left in his childhood. Alan was close to Elliot, and for the most part encouraged the young boy’s literary pursuits. Never once did he imagine that it would eventually lead Elliot down the path that Alan feared he would.

Summary:

Elliot grew up within the walls of the Albury household with his father, and with the exception of several lessons on decorum and their nation’s history, was left to a relatively normal childhood. Alan home-schooled the boy when he could, and encouraged him to find his own way with words. As such, Elliot grew up idolising the gallant knights and wily heroes- and most importantly, his mother.

When he was of age, he persuaded his father into letting him take on an apprenticeship to a knight of the Empire so that he could eventually be like the heroes of stories. Alan was devastated- he didn’t want to lose both his son and wife to the war, but in the end, he was unable to withstand Elliot’s insistence. And thus, Elliot began another chapter in his story.

His apprenticeship was a short-lived affair- barely lasting longer than a year. Elliot had come to realise that the knights were no more faceless warriors in the background, and that the ones that truly stood out were ones who struck out their own path- or were just insanely skilled. And though he had been average with the glaive in combat- his mother’s weapon of choice, he knew that it wasn’t enough to be outstanding. Citing various excuses and perhaps a couple of small lies, Elliot wriggled his way out of the apprenticeship and returned home to his father.

If Alan had breathed a sigh of relief- it was too soon. For a couple of years, Elliot stayed within the safer regions of the Empire, travelling in between towns and villages to learn more about the world, to help those that he could, and to pick up random moves from the people who had the patience to spare him a lesson or two. When word reached them of the team that was being assembled to face the black ravine, Elliot packed his bags and left, without the consent and knowledge of his father. From then, he travelled under the name of Robin in order to avoid being found and linked back to Graycairn.

Abilities:

Skills:

Field Medicine – Alan knows the basics of bandaging a wound and the binding of a broken limb from his apprenticeship with the knight, but he never stayed around long enough to learn the details of anything more than that.

Glaive – The glaive was his primary weapon during his apprenticeship, and he has stuck with it since. He has a solid grasp of the foundations, but anything after that is a mash of various moves meant for other weapons.

Hand to hand combat - A skill from his apprenticeship, however it’s extremely rudimentary and undeveloped.

Weaknesses:

Killing intent (or lack of) – Despite having a decent amount of combat experience, Elliot lacks the intent to kill. He has never struck with the intention of ending someone, or something’s life- only to knock out or disarm.

Patchwork moves – Elliot has trained with a variety of people, even if they weren’t proficient with the glaive. He borrows moves from swordsmen and rogues, swinging wide with a long-reached weapon and leaving himself open for attacks. Occasionally he forgets that his opponents are best kept at a distance and gets in too close- only to be at a loss for moves when he can’t bring in his weapon fast enough.

Weak stomach - Bloodshed is not something he is accustomed to, and the sight of blood and gore causes him to lose his nerve- and occasionally his meal.

Combat:

Armour: He travels light, and decided against a full suit of armour. He wears a shirt of chainmail with a leather vest over it, and leather vambraces around his forearms. His shins are covered by light metal greaves, and wears leather armour around his thighs.

Weapon: The glaive is his only weapon.

Fighting Style: He has a very defensive fighting style, preferring to stand back and wait for holes in his opponent’s guard. However, when he attacks- he attacks eagerly, quickly and dramatically, often leaving himself wide open as well.

Other:

Inventory: A couple of dry rations from travelling, a waterskin, a spare shirt, an envelope containing the last letter that his mother wrote to him.

Quotes:
“Stories keep your purpose alive, long after you’re gone.”
“Even if you can’t win your battles, your fire may have helped others to.”
“I’ll never amount to much if I walk a beaten path- it is too well worn.”

Summary:
Aldus is a stoic and focused individual, distant and quiet Aldus prefers to work alone rather than in a group; although deep down he secretly yearns for companionship but he fears to lose those he cared about again, this makes him slow to trust others as well. Aside from that Aldus is a strong-willed man, if he starts something you better know that Aldus will end it. Being born a peasant Aldus has no formal education, he can't read or do any form of math but where he lacks book smarts he makes up in street smarts, only the clever cannon fodder survive. A lesser known side of Aldus is his more kind-hearted side before the black quake destroyed his home Aldus would send all of his salaries back home.

Joining the ranks of the Imperial Army at a young age has forced Aldus into maturity, and showing him the horrors of war has caused a mental scar on the man. Aldus is constantly suffering from his past experiences, vivid and horrific nightmares keep him up at night, most of which is the terrible acts of violence he was ordered to do, some of them even bordering on war crimes. Because of this Aldus has grown a deep seeded hatred for the empire, but with the black ravine swallowing his home and the countless monsters murdering his friends, Aldus has an even deeper hatred for those damn creatures.

Aside from all that Aldus does not fear death, with his home gone he owns nothing, other than the clothes on his back and a title which Aldus holds with high regards.

Appearance:
Hair:
Silver

Eyes:
Greyish-blue

Build:
5'10 Solid, muscular

Complexion:
Pale

Attire:
Outside of his armor Aldus generally wears a grey tunic with brown pants and boots, common clothing for a peasant.

Scars:
Being a soldier Aldus' body is covered in scars, both from training and from combat.

Summary/Picture:
Leon.Daracan.full.2215436.jpg

Backstory:
Hometown:
Penrith ~ A small farming village located on the Empire's border. Overlooked by a lesser lord, before being destroyed Penrith was forced to give a majority of its products to the war effort, leading to rampant poverty throughout the already poor community. Unfortunately, the village fell into the deep abyss during the Black Quake.

Relationships:
Parents (Dead) ~ Simple farmers living off the land and growing a number of different vegetables. Never really stood out and they both died during the black quake.

Eric Hopkin (Dead) ~ A lesser noble, knight, and the leader of the Resistance. After the black quake, Eric and Aldus became quick friends and the two considered themselves brothers, but Eric (Along with most of the resistance) was killed while fighting back the demons.

Summary:
Nothing stands out about Aldus' upbringing, he's a peasant, commoner, lowborn there was never anything special about him from the beginning, just a farm boy. An only child Aldus grew up with the constant threat of war as Penrith was located close to the border. As the war continued and Penrith was continually taxed, Aldus only 15 at the time decided that he would become a soldier to support his family. Lying and saying that he was 17, Aldus started his life as cannon fodder driven by his home and loyalty to the Empire, Aldus would soon discover how horrible war was.

Aldus grew particularly close with his fellow soldiers, it kind of happens when you're fighting alongside them and that they all came from a similar background. But it wouldn't take long for Aldus to realize how much the Empire didn't care for them, to say the least, they were cannon fodder, ordered to endlessly throw themselves at the enemy, and die for the Empire. Along with being ordered to slaughter any civilian that spoke up against the empire and the war, mostly from the occupied Chubic territory. Aldus lost a lot of friends and comrades throughout his 6 years serving in the military, and he experienced things that would scar him for life, but he had to keep fighting for his home, the only thing that kept him going.

Aldus experienced the Black Quake first hand, and he was one of the few who survived the first wave of Demons. Some of the surviving members decided that this black ravine was a far greater threat than the Chubic Kingdom and thus the Resistance was born, led by Sir Eric Hopkin. The Resistance specialized in countering the Demons and evacuating any civilians (Eadigia and Chubician) that were under Demonic threat. They were small in numbers, around 25 members but their bonds were unbreakable. Aldus himself landed a second-in-command under Sir Eric as the two were close friends. Though the Demon forces were far greater and more powerful and soon the Resistance was overrun and a majority of its members were killed, including Sir Eric but before he died he handed over his title of Knight (along with this weapons and armor) to Aldus as a last goodbye. After losing Eric, (someone who Aldus called his brother) Aldus became distant, preferring to work alone or at least refrain from getting attached to other people. After hearing about the first expedition he decided to join, although he was cautious about the other heroes joining.

Abilities:
Skills:
Strength ~ Growing up on a farm and serving in the army for 6 years has caused Aldus to have a sturdy and very strong body, currently, he's stronger than your average soldier.

Close-Quarters-Combat ~ As a footsoldier he was trained solely for CQC.

Sword and Shield ~ His weapon of choice and it's what he's been using for the past six years.

Weaknesses:
Slow ~ Due to his heavy plate armor Aldus isn't as quick and agile as he was when he was in the lighter soldier armor.

Ranged Combat ~ Having only a sword and a shield has no advantages when going up with an archer or a mage and Aldus has no training with ranged weapons.

Uneducated ~ Solving riddles or puzzles is nearly impossible for Aldus.

Tired ~ Due to Aldus' lack of sleep, generally he can be really sluggish around morning and night.

Combat:
Armour:
Knights Armor ~ Previously owned by Sir Eric, basic plate armor used by the majority of Eadigian knights.
Shield ~ Simply metal shield also owned by Sir Eric.

Weapon:
Steel Broadsword ~ a well-crafted blade designed for slashing, a sturdy and reliable sword.

Fighting Style:
Aldus has a very mixed fighting style which is a staple of a frontline fighter, utilizing his shield as a means of defense, as well as a blunt weapon. This mixture of defense and attack makes him a solid frontline fighter.

Other:
Inventory:

rations and a water sac and some money, Aldus always packs light.

Quotes:
"well shit, I'm not dead"
"I've got an idea"
"don't mention it"
"Here let me help you"

Occupation: Healer, Noblewoman/Heiress

PERSONALITY
Traits:
 • Intelligent
 • Idealistic
 • Hard-working
 • Empathetic
 • Selfless
Flaws:
 • Naïve, stubbornly unwilling to accept certain dark truths
 • Self-righteous and a little arrogant, at times
 • Can be bossy and overbearing
 • Overly passionate, tends to take things up to eleven waaaay too fast
 • Self-loathing, self-destructive, possibly masochistic
Likes:
 • Noble sacrifices
 • Machinery, puzzles, ‘complex stuff’
 • Staying busy
Dislikes:
 • People who take pity on her
 • Being called a vampire, bat, or witch
 • Selfishness or unwillingness to make sacrifices

Summary:
Cephilia has a strong moral compass and an unwavering sense of justice. Her noble upbringing and extensive schooling has impressed upon her a sense of responsibility for those less fortunate than herself, which drives nearly everything she does, but has the unfortunate side effect of making her feel as if she can never do enough. She must always fight harder, train harder, be smarter.

Intelligence and willpower are her greatest assets. Cephilia is generally calm and reserved, the type of person who prefers to wait, watch, and play the long game. She functions best in situations where she has a chance to get the lay of the land and plan her moves. But perceived injustice can spur her into reckless action and she is not easily talked down once she has committed herself to a cause.

APPEARANCE
Hair: dark black, corkscrew curls that hang just past her shoulders
Eyes: naturally blue, but have turned red as a side effect of blood magic
Complexion: fair-skinned, almost pale, but with a healthy glow
Scars: Some scarring on her palms, where she often cuts herself to draw blood. Relatively unblemished otherwise.

Build: She is an angeloid, which means she has large angel wings on her back, covered in black feathers. She stands about 5’7” with a 15’ wingspan and is built slightly thicker than your average angeloid. Most are slender and lightweight, while Cephilia is rather buxom, with wide hips and strong thighs. She usually keeps her wings tucked away under her clothing.

Attire: Although white robes are the standard for most healers, she has always favored red. She usually wears shorts or knee-length skirts and comfortable low-heeled boots, a simple white blouse and leather vest or corset, with a longcoat or cloak to hide her wings. Her shirts are all either open-backed or slit to let her wings escape.

BACKSTORY:
Hometown:
Highgarden, a huge metropolis built in and around one of Eadigia’s oldest and largest trees. The city has a rich history dating back many centuries and has grown to become a sprawling center of trade and culture. Its position near the border made Highgarden a key foothold in the war, with Chubica trying numerous times to take the city. Twice, they succeeding in capturing some of its lower levels, only to be repelled shortly after. Today, Highgarden is regarded as one of the greatest casualties of the Quake. Tens of thousands were killed when it was swallowed up and overrun by monsters.

Relationships:
Vicente Valdergeuse (deceased): Cephilia’s father, an inventor and blacksmith who ran one of Eadigia’s largest guilds of master smiths. The Valdergeuse family has a long history of crafting high-quality weapons and armor for the empire. Vicente was a very prominent figure amongst the Eadigian nobility and was not only a very shrewd businessman, but not afraid to take to the forge himself once in a while, to ensure he was never out of touch with his craft. He and his wife were both killed in the fall of Highgarden.

Ilnora Valdergeuse (deceased): Cephilia’s mother, a renowned fire mage and scholar of alchemy. She comes from a powerful military family and her union with Vicente was the result of an arranged marriage, but the pair came to genuinely love one another. Although she was an otherwise kind and gentle woman, Ilnora always felt the best way to end the war was through overwhelming force and coerced Vicente into upping the company’s arms production to that end. Her grandmother, Serana Sylvania, (Cephilia’s great-grandmother,) was a legendary Valkyrie general.

Brynhilde: A Chubican blood witch Cephilia followed and trained with for a few years. Brynhilde always referred to her as a fallen angel and took Cephilia as an apprentice, despite the girl’s obvious Eadigian origins. She traveled from town to town offering herbal remedies to the sick and injured. The war slowly changed Brynhilde, making her increasingly angry and bitter, until the two fought one day. When asked where she learned blood magic, Cephilia usually replies that she killed the ‘evil’ witch who trained her… but this is not true. Today, Brynhilde’s whereabouts are unknown and Cephilia doesn’t even know enough about the woman to search for her. It is unlikely her name was actually Brynhilde.

Summary:
Cephilia was born into wealth. Her father owned one of the largest blacksmithing guilds in the Empire and was a former smith himself. The Valdergeuse family funneled enormous amounts of weapons and armor into the war and was responsible for everything from mass producing gear to outfit lowly footsoldiers, to crafting bespoke weapons and armor for the nation’s elite warriors. Most importantly, they never rested on their laurels; the Valdergeuse Company was always innovating.

Something about the war never seemed right to Cephilia, but she accepted it as a way of life. When everyone around her referred to the Chubicans as savages and reveled in finding new ways to slaughter them, she joined in, even though it felt hollow and soulless to her. It wasn’t until the war reached Highgarden that she truly saw it for what it was and began to speak out and even began working with the local church to organize missions to the frontlines to distribute food, clothing, and healing services. They treated soldiers and refugees on both sides.

On one such expedition, her group got caught in the middle when the fighting broke out and were scattered. Cephilia found herself trapped behind enemy lines. After her initial fear wore off, she found it safer to travel deeper into Chubica than try to venture back through the warzone to get home. She looked human enough to pass as a Chubican, as long as she kept her wings hidden. And, even when people saw what she was, they usually didn’t resort to violence, being that she was a healer and servant of the Church. She doubted she would be afforded such a luxury amidst the fog of war.

In the wilds of Chubica, she crossed paths with a self-described witch doctor by the name of Brynhilde. Cephilia had been getting by selling herbal remedies and healing services, but this was Brynhilde’s turf. At first, the witch demanded she take her business elsewhere, but she changed her tone when she realized Cephilia was an Eadigian noble in hiding. Brynhilde found Cephilia’s hypocrisy laughable and naïve, while Cephilia swore she would change this cynical old hag. Even though their ideologies clashed --or perhaps because their ideologies clashed-- they became fast friends.

Cephilia apprenticed under Brynhilde for many years and later found the woman was once a combat medic in the Chubican army, not just some backwater witch doctor. She taught Cephilia many things. Old ways and modern techniques. Things that could save lives and things that could take them. Things her god would frown upon. Not that Cephilia cared; she hadn’t prayed much lately anyway.

Their travels took them closer to the frontlines of the war, where Cephilia wanted to treat the wounded soldiers on both sides, but Brynhilde disagreed. The bitter old woman would rather let them all kill one another. They eventually came to blows over the matter and parted ways. Although Cephilia planned to find her again once they both cooled down, a few months later, the Black Quake put an abrupt and violent end to that idea.

She raced back to Eadigia upon discovering the fate of Highgarden and was informed she was now the heir to the Valdergeuse Company… which meant little, since the family estate and many of their workshops and storehouses went down with the city. Still, the family’s remaining wealth stored in banks elsewhere was considerable and not all of their smiths worked from Highgarden. Therefore, she still had a whole slew of master smiths and engineers calling her ‘boss’ and enough money to pay them for at least a few more years, and a gaping wound in the earth in need of healing.

While Cephilia is no businesswoman, she certainly knew how to treat an injured patient, even if that patient is the world itself. Amidst all the chaos, she knew exactly what she had to do next.

ABILITIES:
Spells:
Blood Magic (active) – Cephilia has complete control over her own blood and uses it to channel her healing magic. She can stop blood flow to a wound, filter out toxins and infection, or increase flow to muscles to temporarily boost her strength and stamina. She can provide these same benefits to others by introducing her blood into their body, but its range is limited. This works best if she keeps the patient within arm’s reach; if she loses control, the patient’s body may begin to reject her blood as a foreign contaminant, especially if their blood type is incompatible with her own.

Blood Magic (passive) -- Cephilia’s blood magic passively keeps her in peak health. She typically doesn’t bleed when cut and most minor scrapes and nagging little aches and pains will heal themselves, without much thought or effort. As long as she maintains a proper diet and keeps her body well-stocked with the necessary nutrients, her magic will take care of the rest.

Purifying Flame: – An archaic form of healing magic she learned from her mother. Cephilia can convert ordinary fire into “purifying flames,” which will heal rather than burn. This form of magic is actually more effective than blood magic, since she doesn’t have to focus on the healing – once created, the fire does the work for her. But it comes with one major drawback: even though the flames don’t burn flesh, the patient will still feel as if they are on fire, and it will burn other things, such as clothing. Very useful for treating widespread injures, such as severe burns (ironically) or multiple fractures. Purifying flames can also drive out harmful magic, such as mind control, demonic possession, and even blood magic.

Skills:
 • Field Surgeon – Cephilia knows how to stitch and treat wounds, even without using healing magic. Because of the stigma attached to blood magic, she usually goes for this first, unless the patient is in critical condition. Her bedside manner ain’t half bad, either.
 • Mechanically Inclined: – Machines just make sense to her. Cephilia is very good at deducing how things work and reverse engineering them. She’s nowhere near as skilled as her father, but she can usually figure things out, given enough time.
 • Not Easily Broken: – Cephilia can take a hit. This is mostly due to her healing magic but, even before she received such training, she was no stranger to violence. Her time spent traveling through Chubica wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. She was not always well-received. Let’s just say she’s built up a rather high pain threshold and isn’t afraid to test its limits.

Weaknesses:
 • Zealot – Even though Cephilia isn’t as religious as she used to be, she does believe she was divinely appointed to join this ‘holy crusade.’ Why is that a weakness? Well, when she does something stupid, like charge into a crowd of fifty demons because she believes she has ‘divine protection’ it’s hard to see this as anything but a weakness. She will probably need someone to hold her back and knock some sense into her.
 • Not Okay – In the last twelve months, Cephilia has lost both of her parents, her entire hometown (a city with tens of thousands of people), returned home to a country she hasn’t seen in over a decade, and been told she is the heir to everything her ancestors built. Oh, and there are demons pouring out of the ground. She has not taken the time to properly process any of this. Although she seems okay on the surface, she’s a psychological timebomb ready to explode at any moment.
 • Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing-- Although she looks the part, Cephilia is no warrior. She has trained tirelessly over the last couple of months but, prior to that, has had no combat training or experience whatsoever, other than the occasional scuffle. Then again, her weapon of choice is a hammer. How difficult can it be to just hit stuff really, really hard?
 • Flightless Bird -- Unlike most angeloids, Cephilia cannot fly. She used to be able to, but years of living in hiding, keeping her wings tucked away, has caused them to atrophy. She can flap them to produce some extra lift or slow herself when falling from moderate heights, but can’t truly fly. When asked, she pretends this doesn’t bother her, but the look in her eyes when she watches birds or other avian humanoids soar amongst the clouds says otherwise.

Combat:
Armor: Over her usual clothing, Cephilia wears a dark red hooded longcoat, with an inner lining of silvery chainmail. Red lacquered steel grieves protect her feet and shins, up to her knees. On her waist is an armored skirt of overlapping red leather flaps, which protects her legs while also allowing mobility and access to the numerous storage pouches strapped to her thighs. She also wears fingerless gloves with metal plates sewn in and metal wrist guards. Everything is expertly crafted and made specifically for her, for this mission.

Weapons: Silverwing, a unique mechanical weapon, which combines a warhammer and meteor hammer. It has a leather-wrapped handle about 2½ feet long, with a large rectangular head, which conceals a spooled chain and gear system. A trigger at the base of the head releases its internal lock, allowing the chain to unspool up to a maximum length of 15 feet. A hand crank is used to gather it back into warhammer form, like a fishing reel, but it can be recalled instantly with a spring loaded cartridge affixed to the hammer’s pommel. (Cephilia only has four such cartridges. They are ejected after use and must be re-wound to be used again… which is easier said than done, because they store nearly a hundred ft/lbs of kinetic energy.)

Fighting Style: Cephilia would probably be described as a brawler. She has trained hard over the last few months, but remains untested in true combat. What she lacks in experience, she makes up for with tenacity and quick thinking. Her unorthodox weapon can catch enemies off-guard and she uses her wings like a cloak to conceal movements. However, she can be overly reliant on her healing factor, taking risks that others wouldn’t. She is the type of fighter who is willing to take a few hits just to land one solid, killing blow.

OTHER:
Inventory: A surgeon’s kit (scalpels, needles, scissors, gauze, stitches, tweezers). A hunting knife. Small vials of blood. Dried rations. A waterskin. A flask of very strong liquor. Dried herbs. A golden eagle pendant. Valdergeuse insignia ring. A fat coinpurse.

Quotes: (optional)
“Pain is good. It tells the healer where to begin. For a while, I lost my way, but the Black Ravine has made my path clearer than ever before. It is truly an honor to be faced with such an opportunity as this, a chance to heal the world and every being in it. There is no higher purpose than this.”

“We make our own miracles.”

“Get up. If you're not dead, you're not done.”

His skills are of no question but his money oriented brain has led him to take the rarest and dangerous of jobs which puts him or a companions at risk. There is no job that he can't do as long as the owner pays upfront. And if they insist on paying after, he might take his sweet time to do the task at hand. On his off days, if he is not in the guild, he is either on a contract mission or wasting money on beer and food. There is no pub Robert hasn't visited, and most likely he is banned from half of those bars. of course he can go to those pubs but he pays triple the normal fee.

Mother, still alive, owns a shop that sells clothes
Summary:
Robert was born to a very normal family. His father is a retired kings guard and is mother has been selling clothes, both noble and commoner for as long as he can remember. Her skills in stitching got her recognized by the kings court as she makes the clothes for the handmaids and sometimes royal people. Robert has always have a thirst for doing cheeky things. He would randomly kill a bird and eat it right outside of their home, he would cause distractions and generally cause chaos as opportunity presented himself. His dad saw a different way for him to use his 'talents'. He was able to be trained by the very knights he always adored when he turned 12. By the time he was 20, he was a fully trained knight but not recognized by the court. So he decided to venture into joining the Hunter Guild in town, selling his skills for profit. That is where he decided to be a different kind of knight. Training himself in fighting styles normal knight would shy away. he quickly climbed the ranks and by the time he was 24, he was well recognized.

Whilst on a contract to find the remains of a dead farmer, the earth shook. He stood his ground at first but the tremors grew with ferocity. After a few minutes, he heard what he thought was hounds at the distance. Then black creatures appeared from behind the tree-lines. He quickly drew his sword and managed to fend over 7 creatures before more and more emerged. He turned tail, climbed his horse and sped towards town. He narrated what happened to the commander who later relayed the message to the king. The black liquid on his swords was all the convincing they needed. Nothing in this world could have black blood apart from those not around.

CHARACTER THEME:

Syvill Hirundinidae - Last Flight of the Calenfari

⊰~❇~⊱INTRODUCTION:
Name:
Syvill Hirundinidae of House Velahr @ Syvill Windcutter
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Race: Half-elf (Tel`Quessir elf bloodline Backstory section)
Alignment: Lawful Evil
Kingdom/Empire: Chubic Kingdom
Occupation: Ranger of the Ivory Halls / Royal Guard

⊰~❇~⊱PERSONALITY:
Traits:
Astute, honourable (in the sense of being bound by duty/accepted authority/word), quick learner, perfectionist, diligent.
Flaws: Haughty, selfish (unless bound by honour/loyalty), apathetic, impatient, slow to forgive (even of self), reticent.
Likes: Fine art (culinary, visual, music, dance), challenges that spark self-improvement, admires power and powerful people (power here is not restricted to the conventional sense, but also a general adept mastery of any skill or ability), structured order, respects strong-willed underdogs (e.g. people who refuse to give up despite being outclassed), the cold (reminds him of home).
Dislikes: Eadigia and Eadigians, intolerant of incompetence, being helped, the meek, scorn for idealism.
Summary: Above all else, Syvill is guided by duty and the laws of anyone whom he accepts as authority. This by no means implies that he has a lack of individuality, but rather, will choose not to express it in favour of those he serves. He is not inherently evil, in the sense that he would not seek out the ruin of others just for the sake of destroying, but his heart has a coldness that knows no bounds. If given even the slightest reason, he'd have no qualms about taking a life. The only thing that kept him in line, was the iron will of the Lord to which he served. Had that same Lord been an agent of darkness, he would've been his finest general.

While his apathy and sense of self-preservation frequently creates a dichotomy with his responsibilities as a ranger, he reconciles it by acting out his duties via personal, often literal interpretation of the word. For example, he would not save a child caught by a bear in the wilds (for the child was surely trespassing), unless given the order to by a superior. Syvill would not hesitate to sacrifice others or be sacrificed, in order to fulfill his responsibilities. Being astute and perceptive allows him to be highly adaptable, and also feeds into his drive of self-perfection. This heightened sense of awareness of his surroundings and of people's body language also means that it is very difficult to deceive him, although sometimes he may feign ignorance. While he thinks highly of himself in relation to others, he is also his own biggest critic. Syvill's impatience does not extend to a thoughtless disregard when charging into battle, but it does mean he gets frustrated easily when there is a lack of progress. Lastly, while he is reasonably conversant, he rarely feels the need to express his inner workings.

Dark brown, falls just below his shoulders. Usually braided to be kept out of the way.
Eyes: Emerald green
Build: Stands at 6 feet 1 inch. Athletic and lean. Body built for endurance and agility, rather than raw strength.
Complexion: Fair, smooth faced.
Attire: Syvill wears the ceremonial battlerobes of the Calenfari, or more commonly known as the Rangers of the Ivory Halls. Sturdy but light Mythril plate armor protects his upper torso and shoulders, runes engraved onto its surface gives the wearer a small measure of protection against the arcane but are otherwise ornamental. The rest of the battlerobes consists of padded leather and a hooded cloak made of magical Moonstrand. Such fabric while offering no greater protection than thick cloth, never blemishes, leaving it a pure milky ivory. This outfit is usually worn during Calenfari funerals, when they mourn those that they have lost after a battle.
Scars: While his face is unblemished, Syvill's upper torso and back is marred by deep cuts and gashes, criss-crossing over his taut muscles.
Summary/Picture: At first glance, Syvill's androgynous features often draw a double take. Being of half-elf descent, Syvill inherits the lithe limbs and refined youthful features of his more elegant ancestors. However, the blood of humankind within his veins means that he has the propensity for greater bulk than his pointy-eared cousins.

BACKSTORY:
⊰~❇~⊱Hometown:
City of An`Falithe, sworn fealty to the Dominion of the Chubic Kingdom.

The Tel`Quessir
Tel`Quessir is elvish, and translates simply as, 'The People' or 'Elves', in common tongue. While there are many subraces of the elves within the Chubic Kingdom, none are so aloof and as prideful as the Tel`Quessir. They trace their lineage back into the ancient past, and their songs and legends tell of a time when the Tel`Quessir's empire sprawled throughout the land, and their people were as numerous as the stars. Whether such was the truth or the embellished tales of a bard seeking to earn coin, their kingdom now lies in the northernmost reaches of Chubica; assuming it still stands after the Black Ravine sundered the lands.

City of An`Falithe and the Ivory Halls

Nestled amidst the frozen mountains of the North and surrounded by dense forests of evergreen pines, the City of An`Falithe is where most of the Tel`Quessir reside. Having contributed to the liberation of the Chubic Kingdom, they have since maintained their fealty and ties to the Monarch. Nevertheless, they hold a somewhat derisive prejudice for the other races, choosing to remain aloof and separate during much of the civil wars. The fact that An`Falithe is perhaps the furthest city North of all Chubica allows the Tel`Quessir elves to be content with their isolation. They kept largely to themselves until war errupted between Eadigia and the Chubic Kingdom. The Calenfari Rangers are the royal guardians of the Ivory Halls, the palace of the Tel`Quessir King and his five children. When the Black Ravine sundered the land, An`Falithe was cut off from the rest of Chubica. While there are still Tel`Quessir elves spread throughout the Kingdom, many feared that their homeland had been destroyed by the darkness. Those that tried to venture home never returned.

Relationships:
Sildorin Velahr (Deceased). Former Crown Prince of An`Falithe and Syvill's liege.
Nymeria Faenalla (Unknown). Princess Consort to Sildorin Velahr. She watched over the young Syvill for a time, as much as she could without compromising her husband's position (details in summary below).

Summary:
Syvill would've amounted to nothing, perhaps died a nobody in the slums of his city or in some shady guild to the south. An orphan, shunned by 'his people'. His father was a respectable Calenfari Ranger, respectable... until he fell in love with a human servant in the Velahr royal household. While it is not uncommon for the other races to reside within An`Falithe, the Tel`Quessir are especially abhorrent of the intermingling of their kind with the others. And so, for choosing to follow his heart over his people, Syvill's father was erased from all memory and record. Struck down in battle, he was given no funeral, no stone marking to be revered. No pyre to send him off into the afterlife. The people whispered that it was punishment for tainting their blood. Syvill never knew his name. Only knew that when he passed on, his mother was cast out from the house whilst still carrying him in her womb. She died giving him a life he hated.

When he was about six, growing up on the frozen streets, Sildorin Velahr came to him. Guilt-ridden when he'd finally found out what had happened to the soldier-with-no-name. He took Syvill in, an act that both made the young halfling eternally grateful and resentful of the prince. Despite his standing, Sildorin was still bound by the weight of leading his people, and could not be seen openly helping the bastard child. He would've abandoned the old prejudices, had he not seen the opportunity to reform his people when he eventually became King. And so he tread on the fine line between being the 'People's Prince' and being involved in unpopular dealings. Such as taking heed of a half blood. The Tel`Quessir saw Syvill as a bad omen, an insult to their kind and made no effort to disguise the fact that they saw him as such. Nevertheless, Sildorin and Nymeria strived to give the young boy as much as they could. Educating him in the dungeons, for he was not even welcome among the servants. Surrounded by so much negativity and hostility took a toll on the young impressionable boy, and he grew to become reclusive and bitter. Hating his dead mother for being human and bringing him into being. But as he grew older, that hatred became a driving force. For the blood that pulsed through his veins was that of a warrior, sharp as a steel's edge, with a heart of keener strength; only the boy did not know it.

In one of the defining moments of his life, Syvill found himself surrounded by a bunch of boys, intent on bullying the outcast. Outnumbered, he nevertheless put up such a ferocious fight that it attracted the attention of one of the Rangers of the Ivory Halls. He'd been beaten to a pulp, having knocked out two other boys (an offense all of its own) and would still have been sternly punished had not the Calenfari Ranger notified Sildorin of what he'd witnessed. Of what he saw in his eyes. A boy that refused to back down. They took him in then, drafted into the academy where they trained him to be the sharpest blade in all the Northlands. Driven by self-loathing and a desire to prove himself much more than his lowly esteem, Syvill trained himself thrice as hard as any other. Often pushing himself way beyond his limits. And when he couldn't stand, he'd crawl. And when his knees gave up, he'd drag himself on chipped nails and broken teeth. It wasn't long before Sildorin Velahr gave him a family name to call his own. Hirundinidae, after the white hirundinidae falcons that made the frozen Northlands their home. For Syvill's mastery with the blade was as swift as their swooping flight, struck his enemies from multiple angles simultaneously like the split tails of the birds, and fought as savagely as them, for the hirundinidae falcons were known to take on foxes and wolves who were many times their size. For his skill and loyalty, Sildorin made him one of his personal guards.

The day of the cataclysm, they were sat atop their ferocious gryphons engaging the winged forces of Eadigia. When the earth split and darkness poured forth, Sildorin called a retreat, for he'd dreamt of this day and immediately recognized the threat. He urged Syvill and the other Calenfari to return home to defend their borders, but Syvill hesitated. Turning, he saw Sildorin land his mount to aid their earthbound troops as beasts of nightmare poured unto them. He defended his lord, but just as they were about to leave, Sildorin was pierced by an Eadigian spear. It'd been hurled by one of the winged savages, taking full opportunity of their distraction to assassinate the prince. Syvill flew into a rage, knocking the Eadigian out of the sky, but before he could finish the job, his Prince commanded him to stop. He rushed to his lord's side only to see his life rapidly ebbing away. With his dying breath, Sildorin bade him to protect the land and their home, for this was an evil far greater than anything they'd encountered. Thrusting the Star of Velahr into his hands, he made Syvill swear an oath.

Never let its light and all that it stands for, fade.

Sildorin breathed his last. He gathered all the remaining Calenfari to him after that, those that had stayed behind and they made a final charge in an effort to break through the ravine of darkness. Syvill did not remember much of his frantic scramble for survival, only that he found himself alone, wounded and torn and his mount shreded into formless viscera of red. Cut off from the rest with no way back to An`Falithe except through the impenetrable Black Ravine. And so he turned and fled south, his promise to his liege the only thing that kept him from suiciding into the horrors out of shame. Eventually, he answered the call of the Chubic King to aid in the quest, though he found his heart in turmoil for they'd have to work with the Eadigians. He hadn't forgotten that day.

⊰~❇~⊱ABILITIES:
Spells:

Innate - Unwavering focus. The Rangers of the Ivory Halls are no ordinary soldiers. Battle-hardened through the fires of countless wars and tempered by the harsh wilds of the Northlands they are a force to be reckoned with. With their dedication to the Goddess of the Hunt, Felariel, their mind becomes an impenetrable fortress. As such, they are immune to all but the strongest of mind spells, allowing them to readily distinguish reality from illusion.

Skills:
Blademaster - Syvill is an adept fighter with almost any melee weapon, though he favours Anorlindir, a longsword that once belonged to Sildorin.
Heightened Agility - The Rangers of the Ivory Halls are known for their blade dance. Graceful footwork and weaving of their bladed weapons that looks not unlike an acrobatic dance. Trained to fight with elegance rather than savage force, they can nimbly dart around the battlefield, perform acrobatic feats and scale difficult terrain with ease.
Refined intuition - His training as a ranger includes honing his senses to the point that his reactions are almost on a subconscious level. This feeds into his heightened agility as well as allowing him to still function reasonably well in debilitating situations e.g. blinded, deafened.
Animal Mastery - Syvill has trained to fight battles riding atop vicious gryphons. Proud creatures, it is no small feat to befriend one as they can never truly be tamed. He also has vast knowledge of the many beasts and creatures of the wilds, allowing him to calm raging bears and bloodthirsty wolves. However, this ability does not extend to all creatures, especially ones that he has not come across.
Pathfinding - Not one to get lost, he has an innate feel for the land and can detect warning cues or hints of past events from nature that would otherwise be overlooked by more mundane people.

Weaknesses:
Bad with contraptions - While he is not short on intellectual brilliance, puzzles and contraptions often get the better of him. Perhaps it is due to his lack of patience. Nevertheless, he may be able to detect a trap with his awareness, but disarming it is way over his head.
Useless at long range fights - Perhaps another thorn in his side growing up among elves is his inability to be reasonably proficient with a bow. The skill, which should've been innate often eludes him. He makes up for this by being decent with throwing weapons (javelins, daggers) but anything beyond the reach of such weapons, he cannot harm unless he closes the distance.
Egoistic - One downside of being so smug and actually being really good at fighting, is that in the offchance he meets someone or something who can best him, he becomes consumed with overcoming that challenge. A long fight would increasingly frustrate him, and if you can last through his onslaught, he will eventually become more and more careless.
Individualist / terrible teamworker - If he does not deem you worthy as a superior, good luck getting him to cooperate if he disagrees with your methods.
Politically Incorrect - You wouldn't want to bring him along on business negotiations unless the strategy is to intimidate.

Combat:
Armour:

Ceremonial Battlerobes. (See Attire)
Weapon:
Anorlindir. tl: Dawnsinger (longsword). Throwing dagger x 2. Barbed whip (15 feet).
Fighting Style:
Strong emphasis on melee, with mild usage of midrange attacks. Bladedancing (reliance on reflexes and agility). Uses his midrange weapons to interrupt enemies so he can close the distance.

⊰~❇~⊱OTHER:

"I'quelin edan`dulin naa ba edan`dulin." - The best avian (winged Eadigian) is a dead avian.
"I will, only because I must."

Summary: Loius is a rather difficult person to get along with, especially if your views tend to differ with hers. She has grown with a prejudice against pretty much everyone else who sees the world differently. It might seem impossible to befriend her, but once you do, she is a truly great comrade - her loyalty is often considered as unmatched, and might even offer some positive moral reinforcement under the right circumstances.

APPEARANCEHair: Lavender
Eyes: Brown

Complexion: Fair
Attire: Often wearing a simple set of clothes - cotton tunic, trousers, and a pair of footwear, mostly the ones issued from the military. They are quite plain, and somewhat comfortable.

BACKSTORYHometown:
Oakenfair - A walled high-populace city, located near the edges of the Empire's borders. Considered to be a strategic location, there are a lot of military outposts located in this city - one could often find about 2-3 troops roaming around in the vicinity. Though it is near to monster-infested forestry and dungeons, the citizens feel no fear as the wall that protects them stand strong, along with the military might of the Empire ensuring none of these creatures would even get close to scratch the wall.
Relationships:
Devan Portier (DECEASED) - Louis's father figure, and mentor. He was the leader of a military division that was given the post on Oakenfair. Unfortunately, The Black Quake and the incidents that followed it cost him his life. He died like a hero, not only to Loius, but to several others who would have not lived without his interference.

Nora Windfall - One of Loius's comrades. She lost her arm during The Black Quake, yet is still in military service despite the counsel of several officers and friends. Loius once considered her to be her equal, back when they were but recruits.

Heron Zanselm - Loius's long-time rival and comrade. He often challenges her to a duel, and so far, they are tied in both victories and defeats. He might have lost a lot of his loved ones during The Black Quake, but it didn't stop him from continuing the path he had chosen to walk.
Summary: War isn't a pretty thing, and more often than not, brings terrible things with it. In Loius's case, the war between the Empire and the Kingdom rid her of what a young girl should have gotten - family. She became an orphan at a rather young age, forced to live in an orphanage that can't even provide her the most basic necessities.

Fortunately, an incident changed the course of her life - the orphanage, located in a rather rural area, was attacked by bandits. The Empire's troops arrived to save the day, but they were a bit late. A lot had already been done - the orphanage was in shambles, some children were abducted, some staff were killed or enslaved. Loius was one of the lucky ones who got out of the situation untouched.

Call it destiny, call it coincidence, the leader of the troop that came to the rescue, Devan Portier, felt the uncontrollable urge to take her in as his own. Under his care, she grew - molded into the figure that she is now. Strong, and resolute. Unwavering despite the circumstances. She signed up for the military, following the footsteps of Devan, and as expected, passed with flying colors. She served for several years, assigned under the same division that Devan led.

Then, it came. The Black Quake. All of a sudden, all her training was put to test, and was overwhelmed easily by the chaos that went on. Atrocious creatures swarmed the land as an abyssal ravine formed, swallowing towns and cities. In the midst of all this, Loius and Devan were separated from the rest of their group, and was slowly outnumbered by the ferocious monsters, all while they were herding a bunch of civilians into a safer zone. The situation grew worse and worse, forcing Devan to sacrifice his life in order for Loius and the others to survive this encounter.

Loius mourned for weeks with the death of her father figure, until she realized that it wouldn't do anything. Taking up what Devan had left behind, she specifically asked to be sent into the front line - who will venture into The Black Ravine, the origin of the demons who caused all this.

When every single one of them are no more, when there is no longer any trace that those atrocities had ever existed. Then, and only then, will she ever find peace. That is what she had convinced herself.

ABILITIESSkills:
Imperial Elite - She has experience in all forms of combat, and is considered to be an adept at them. However, her proficiency with close-ranged combat is far better than in the other fields. She is also capable of forming strategies and adapting them on the go, allowing to, more often than not, gain a huge advantage in the field.

Survivor - She's had experience in living out in the wild, after all, that is a common situation in the military. She knows how to start fires, how to search and hunt food, how to assess safe areas, etc. While it may only be the basics, it should help out pretty fairly in situations that she expects to get into.

Greater Physique - Compared to the average person, she is far superior. The intensity of her training and the experience she obtained from the lengthy time of her service, her physique has grown to be greater. She is stronger, faster, and has more stamina and endurance compared to the average person.
Weaknesses:
Mortal Limits - What you'd expect from a human. They're not capable of living for ages like the elves, they're not as tough as the dwarves and lizardmen, and are prone to most diseases and ailments.

No Magic - She has very little knowledge of magic, and isn't capable of casting any spells as she had not learned how to wield the arcane art. In situations where magic reigns supreme, Loius is one of those who will be left behind.

Uncontrolled - She is prone to emotional outbursts, which may lead to more complex situations.

COMBATArmour: A set of lightweight armor, embedded with the regalia of the Empire. Offers a decent amount of protection, considering that it allows her a lot more mobility compared to heavily armored knights.
Weapon:
Sterrak's Bane - Originally a sword owned by Devan, but ended up going to Loius's hands as he fell to his demise. Made from the finest steel and the bones of a felled, powerful dragon, this sword is not only extremely durable, its sharpness cannot be dulled as well. It also allows its wielder to be flame-resistant, as long as it is held by them.

Steel Sword - A standard, military-issued sword. Loius's backup weapon in case things get out of hand.

Serrated Dagger - A jagged dagger. In case she gets disarmed. Twice.
Fighting Style: The way she fights is rather unrefined. She mainly acts on instinct, but often has a plan in mind. While she isn't unpredictable with the way she fights, her offensive style often forces her foes to adjust to her, instead of her adapting to their style - which grants her control of the flow of the fight.

OTHERInventory: She wears a circlet most of the time - a gift given to her by Devan on her 18th birthday. Other than that, she simply carries around a small sack containing an extra set of clothes, and a pouch of emergency rations.
Theme:

Quotes:
"This is no place for cowardice. Out here, there is only one way - and that is forward."
"By Taltor's will, it shall be done."
"Return to where you came from, demon!"

Other Notes: Sterrak was a dragon residing on the southern territories of the Empire, whose growth in power has disturbed the ecosystem, causing beasts to go beyond their homes, and often cause chaos to the nearest livelihoods. The Empire, along with several adventurer guilds, battled Sterrak for a year before coming out on top. The loot that came with its demise was split between the involved parties.
