Summoners Curse

Suddenly you appear in another world, dazed, confused; barely able to remember your own name. You were sucked between dimensions, only to appear in this one. The world of Malvern. Around you are others who seem to be just as confused as you are, barely able to hold your eyes open you watch as two men fight. Except, it isn't much of a fight. One man is tossed, rag-dolling into a wall, while the other, with a woman in his arms, flees into the shadows. You lay confused, until the exhaustion takes over. While your body lays stiff, passed out from exhaustion, a strange effect begins to take action in place of you. The summoners curse. The one who summoned you lays on the floor, bleeding out, for he had just been smashed against a stone wall with incredible might by the one who attacked him. The one who summoned you, along with everyone else in the room, was the emperor Rox Rothdane; ruler of the Rothdane Empire. The summoners curse won't allow you to let the one who summoned you lay and bleed out, only a few feet away from you. It takes action. Along with everyone else who was summoned, you and them, take the emperor's limp, lifeless body and individually - the lot of you look for a way out of the emperors chamber. Guards rush over, taking the emperor to a doctor, saving his life. The summoners curse saved his life.

Five months later. The heroes have been adjusting to the world, slowly but surely, all struggling to get their memories back. Most of them can remember their name and age, while flashbacks trigger during certain events, revealing more and more as time goes on. Working as puppets for the emperor, the heroes have been trained in combat by the best teachers the empire has to offer, finding unique combat styles that suit them all. The heroes get along, best they can, train and live in this new, beautiful world. Together. The heroes train hard, not only because they were ordered to do so by the emperor, but because they want to hunt own the one who almost took his life. Cole, the empires previous hero. Cole was the first hero to be summoned. He abandoned the empire, almost killing the emperor and taking Madeline the one who gave the emperor the ability to summon. Madeline was the empires sweetheart, kidnapped by the hero who lost his mind. How much fear she must be in, the heroes desperately want to kill Cole and safely return Madeline. So they train. Determined.

Spoiler: Bruton

Bruton:
North-west of the capital. Bruton is by far the poorest of the city-states. Bruton is the first and oldest city-state established, comprised of mostly wood and stone buildings. Bruton has become envious for its high crime rates, that are continuing to rise. Thieves and bandits run amok, so much so, that those who live in the city had to adapt and become thieves/criminals themselves. Bruton is popular for its thieves guild and many fences that have gathered in the area, many criminals gather here to sell stolen items. Many guards sent to be stationed here are killed or resign. Bruton is unofficially known by the rest of the empire as the thieves capital. Many nobles want Bruton to be seized by the military and reformed. Because of this, Bruton doesn't get as much supplies and pay as the rest of the city-states and poverty is on the rise. Because poverty is on the rise, immune systems weaken and diseases more easily run rampant.

Word of Cole and Madeline being spotted in Bruton makes its way to the emperor. He calls upon the heroes and rallies them for a journey, a journey to the thief capital. Poorest of the city-states. The heroes journey to Bruton.
