OOC: Alright c: I'm starting it off right before the ritual for the teens and adults who've yet to have the ritual done.

IC: Jade nervously twisted her fingers behind her back. She was so scared it was unbelievable. All her life she'd waited for this moment right here, where she'd stand on a podium, have the Lover Doctors, as she called them, make some weird potion then do some magic then boom..she'd be sent out to find her..soulmate. It was scary, and what's worse is, he could be in this very room right now. Actually it would take a long time for her to get her chance with one of the doctors because of how many people were here. The building was actually really huge, about two football field sizes, and yet it felt so crowded to her. There were girls and boys of all ages here, and it was crazy how it ranged. Most had their parents here, but for Jade, it was just her..she had no one..yet.

Austin lets out a rather harsh sigh of irritation as he makes his way around the oversized building. For 18 years he's managed to escape the cruel clutches of the "Bosom Tackers"- his, albeit derogatory, term used for those who force you to find your 'soul mate'. For 18 years, he's been wise enough to trick his parents out of taking him one way or another. But, of course, all good times must eventually end. And for Austin Karner, that end is now.

He's never believed in soul mates, always just figured the stupid 'heart light' was nothing more than chemical reactions made specially in batches of two. And once someone gets within range of the other person doused in that same mixture, it'd react and begin to glow. Though, his parents always disagreed with that, as well as his older twin sister, Aniyah, who found her 'soul mate' about three years ago. His two year old niece, Ella, is already can't wait to get old enough to meet her true love... And Austin can't help but pity the young girl.

As he gazes around at all the surrounding people, more protesting noises escape through his lips at the disgusting thought of one of them possibly... Touching him... Even by accident, the mere idea of being sullied by one of these passer-bys makes him cringe.

That is, until he sees her. Jade Tarrow. Since first grade, Austin has always treated Jade differently than everyone else. He couldn't help himself when he felt the urge to tug at her hair or break her crayons in the beginning, seeing her cry just made him feel complete. And as they got older, he'd often steal her homework or push her down in the hallway. High school brought about the age of everyone wanting to experiment; see if they couldn't find their 'soul mates' without the use of these Bosom Tackers. Austin didn't like it when boys would seem interested in Jade. She was his toy, not theirs. So, he'd threaten them. Each and every boy who thought they had a chance would soon realize they didn't.

He never let her know, of course. It was all done in secret. Otherwise, she'd get all doe-eyed like the other stupid girls at that school and begin to think that perhaps he had feelings for her... No. But he couldn't deny she was different. Still he'd push her, publicly humiliate her in any way he could think of, but he'd never actually lay a violent hand on her... As cruel as he may be to some, he's still got some morals. And hitting women isn't on his to-do list.

After about a minute of staring at the muli-color haired girl with a nostalgic gleam in his eye, he begins walking toward her with a smirk. "Jade. Fancy seeing you here." His voice comes out deep, almost menacing with the heavy bit of sarcasm and teasing laced around it.

Jade was lost within the confines of her mind..that is until her heard..his voice. Austin Karner, the boy who was mean as hell to her, yet she still couldn't stand up to him. Why? Because there was something about him that just..made her deal with it and oddly enough she really couldn't imagine her life without him. He'd done hobble things to her really, and she could never avoid him, which wasn't always awful, because sometimes he kinda did make her days a little more interesting, in an asshole kinda way. He also intrigued her. A good example of that is when He stole her phone, put his number in it, then put her number in his phone and cyber bullied her, though he never took it too far, and in a sense she supposed, her brought her relief. She at least had someone in her life. Someone who maybe she could talk to..

Jade was let out a small breath and shake her head as she'd glance back at him, but only a glance. Though in that moment she looked at him, she could tell he disliked being here, also that he had that sexy smirk of his. Sexy? Really Jade? What has gotten into you woman! He mind yelled at her, causing a bright red blush to break out of her face, though luckily, her hair had fallen right over her eyes and cheeks so it couldn't be seen.

After a minute more of her mind yelling at her and her hands obviously giving away that she was nervous as hell, she'd speak. "Why's that? Because I'm..well ya know. A loser." Her voice was soft and melodic as per usual, but it was still off, majorly off. Maybe it was because she really didn't want to be bullied right now..when she knew that there was no way in this entire Earth that anyone would be her soulmate..because truth was..she was a loser. Austin knew that.

Austin had noticed Jade's little nervous gestures with her hands, and it made his smirk widen. Over the years, he'd become greatly accustomed to her, and was now able to read the girl like a book. However, his joy over the nervousness he believed that he caused was rather short lived as she replies, her soft voice pouring out the self-deprecation he'd made sure to drill into her since they were young.

...But for some reason, he didn't like hearing her talk like that about herself. Though, he wouldn't say anything to let on to that... For now, he'd just allow her to say whatever she liked.

He leans down so that he's eye-level with the slightly younger girl, a soft chuckle escaping his lips as he looks into her eyes. "That's exactly it. Though, I guess I shouldn't be surprised... Soul mates don't exist, and only true idiots would believe in them. So, of course you'd be here."

Jade lowered her head, she really wish he'd stop..just for once. Would it kill him? Probably.. Either way, it made her mood go from nervous to depressed in an instant, which in turn, made her hands stop fiddling and drop to her sides. Why did I even bother speaking? I should have kept my mouth shut.. Her thoughts grew depressing as she simply stared at the ground. She of course had accepted the fact that she could be the only girl in history not to have a lover..but hope had sparked within her.

With a small shake of her head she then lifted her gaze to meet his. "Who said I believed? I'm just here to assure myself that it's not possible for me to have someone that actually cares about me." She said, her voice sounded normal, but inside..it hurt her to say the exact words she knew was true..She doesn't have a soulmate. No one would ever love her. Austin had once told her that. Drilled it into her mind, but she'd never said it out loud until now.

Austin scoffs and rolls his eyes, standing straight once more as he crosses his arms over his chest and looks down at the girl before him, a single eyebrow quirked. "Wow, melodramatic much?" He reaches out, then, to ruffle her straight hair and coo as if to a babe. "Awwh, wittle Jadie all sad she's awone?" Again he scoffs, pressing his palm to her forehead and pushing with gentle force. "Get over yourself, Tar-" He uses the hurtful nickname he'd created years ago, using her last name. "-You know that you're here for the same reason you used to rant and rave on and on about when we were kids. You want your soul mate, so you two can live "happily ever after" just like the fairy tales."

Another smirk takes over his expression, causing him to look downright cruel. "But listen here, Tar. It's. All. Fake. It's just a bunch of smoke and mirrors, people believing whatever they want with absolutely no respect for science, or the way this world works." Another roll of the eyes as he moves to lean against the wall next to Jade, "You'll see. You'll have your 'soul mate', and that'll just be proof to everyone that it's all a hoax."

Something deep in Austin's stomach turned as he said those words, made him feel absolutely sick. Though, he couldn't seem to stop himself from saying such things... It was as if he were possessed by some being which designated him to be her tormentor. From childhood until their death bed, he was sure to be by her side.

...To torment her, of course.

Jade shrugs, trying her best to act like his words didn't affect her, but really..they did. Deep into her core, the hurt just like most of the words he always said to her. As she opens her mouth to say something else, something catches her eye. The screen which broadcast who was next was showing her full name in bright pretty cursive..just like her signature, which it was.

Within an instant her heart seems to speed up and she's frozen, eyes glued to the screen. She was next..this was her moment.. Jade shock her head visibly and looked over at Austin, and for once in her life, she looked into his eyes and smiled. It was kind of a teasing smile, but then again it was also very small and weak, and her eyes were very noticeably worried. "See ya later Ausie." She said, her voice softer than before and cracking on the very end when she said the very nickname she gave him when they were children. The only name she rarely used unless trying to get under his skin or being serious and right now she was using it at comfort for some reason.

Jade very slowly turned away from Austin and marched up to the platform where she was meant to go. Once up there a woman with dark hair and green eyes approached her. She looked kinda young to be honest, then again you could tell she had an age about her. The woman very softly took Jade's hand and lead her to a back bedroom. Once inside, the woman pointed to a bed with no sheets and a single pillow. "Lay." She instructed and Jade did, though once there she dug out her phone and sent a quick text to Austin.

I'm scared...

And with that, she put her phone away and tel the woman do as she pleased to her, which included putting her to sleep.

"See ya later Ausie."

The use of Jade's old nickname for Austin made his entire expression soften. He could tell it wasn't her trying to tease him or get under his skin as it normally is, he could tell she was nervous. And as much as the 18 year old hated to admit it, he did send her a silent cheer... Even though he didn't believe in such things, he truly hoped she could find a soul mate who would make her happy.

For whatever reason.. Probably because it'd make it more fun if he had someone to get into fist-fights with. The guy would try to protect Jade from Austin's harsh words, and of course the 'bully' would win. no doubt about it. Then, things would get more interesting.

He's pulled from these thoughts as his cell phone vibrates, the number which pops up being Jade's. The photo, a candid one of her sitting beneath a tree one day at lunch. He wasn't sure if she was aware or not, but they actually attended the same college... He'd once found her in the Square, eating alone and reading or something... he couldn't really remember. But what he does remember, is how his stomach had flipped at the sight of her. It was one of those shameful, yet not-so-rare, moments in which he found her absolutely gorgeous.

As he thinks of this, his stomach begins fluttering all over again, making her words of fright that much more painful on his chest as he reads them. He decides for once that he didn't have to be a complete asshole, and responds back with, what he hopes to be, slightly encouraging words. You'll be fine.

Hours later Jade awakes to a vibration in her pocket. He texted back? Probably something mean. She thought to herself, but nontheless, she dug her phone out and looked at the message. Utterly shocked by what was written there, she stared at it for a solid minute. He was..encouraging her? She blinked several times the sat up. Her head felt quite groggy and she herself felt sick. The woman who had done was procedure was gone, all that remained was two doors, one to the way back and the other which was for her to leave though. Carefully, Jade stands and wobbles quite a lot. She knew this part was the worse and it wouldn't wear off until a good nights rest, which also meant the soulmate affect wouldn't work until after this feeling was gone. Very slowly she sends a message to Austin.

I feel..sick..

And with that, she'd head though the door, wobbling out then leaning heavily outside, the cool refreshing summer wind wrapping around her, though it didn't help and it honestly made her feel even worse. She was sure she'd vomit soon.

The woman from before however was now back outside the bedroom and waiting for her next customer, a boy named Austin Karner.

Over the next couple of hours Austin stayed against the wall, huffing out in frustration every now and again while texting a few friends, hoping no one would notice him... Especially hoping no one would bother him. He'd rather not beat anyone to a pulp, today. It was already bad enough he had to do this whole Bosom Tacker thing, having an aching hand really wouldn't make it any better.

He lets out a sigh as he looks up and notices his signature displayed on the screen. He silently tucks his phone back into his pocket and begins walking up, only to stop half way and read the text from Jade. He smiles faintly, but quickly clears it from his expression as he types back quickly.

Just go to bed Tar. Bye.

He then shuts the phone totally off, and starts toward the woman once more. "Yo." He greets her with a smirk, looking her body up and down like the 'player' he is.

While most girls wouldn't dare to 'play around' with guys, as they're too obsessed with waiting for their 'soul mate', there's a few who he was able to trick into jumping into bed with him. Time ,after time, after time. "Takin' me to the bedroom, huh?" He smirks his seductive smirk as he reaches for the door himself, "Well, don't you think I should at least know your name, little lady?"

The woman would laugh and roll her eyes at him. "Names Katrina." She said simply, not really too much caring for his little 'act.' He magic could see right though him. She knew this boy wasn't all he build himself up to be. "Why do you be a good boy and open that door so we can..begin?" She said with another laugh.

Jade on the other hand had just read Austin's message and choice not to respond and put the phone away. She was still just right outside the room from before, only her hands were now braced on the cool brick of the building, her head in between them. She was feeling a lot worse now, and the wold seemed to only spin. It was horrible really, and she was quite glad she didn't drive, but instead walked. After a few more seconds, she'd begin silently vomiting up everything she ate, which wasn't much. With every puke, she felt worse, and her head only throbbed. At this point she was desperately wishing for someone to help her.

Austin snickers as he opens the door to the bedroom and holds it for the woman, smirk still plastered on his face at the sight of the bed, and dimmed lighting. "So tell me, doctor." He begins, shutting the door behind them and once more allowing his eyes to rake up and down her clothed form. "What's my diagnosis?"

Katrina rolls her eyes as she walks in and points to the bed. "Lay down." She said, this time her tone serious and devoid of any previous playfulness. Right now she was focused. She had a job to do and it would be done 100% perfect. "I'm going to put you to sleep. Once you wake up, exit though the other door. Warning. You might feel horribly sick. That means you need to go home or where ever and sleep it off. Once that's done, I wish you luck on finding The One."

Austin rolls his eyes, his obvious disbelief practically palatable in the air as he walks to the bed and lays down. "Yeah, yeah. Soul mate, the one, partner for life, yada, yada, yada." He lets out an irritated sigh while folding his hands across his stomach and crossing his legs over one another. "Just do what you gotta, doc." He closes his eyes, allowing his breath to steady to a slow pace until he's asleep.

Several hours later he awakens, his brows furrowed together and his eyes opening, though staying squinted against the dull light. Austin's hand flies up and slaps over his mouth, nausea coming on hard as he slowly sits up, the room spinning as if he were horribly drunk. With the same sort of point of view, the eighteen year old boy makes his way toward the door opposite the one he'd entered the bedroom from. He pulls it open, doing his best to ignore the hangover-ish feeling coursing through his whole body as he takes a step into the alleyway. "Damn..."

Jade doesn't seem to notice Austin at this point, mainly cause she's at the end of the allyway, her body trembling from the excessive vomiting. She felt absolutely awful, worse than the time she went to a party, got dunk then passed out shortly after puking up everything. Still to this day though, she can't remember how she got back to her dorm. Aside that small memory, Jade 's vision was blurry and at this current moment, her legs couldn't hold her any longer. With a small yelp, she'd fall onto the pavement, her arms immediately wrapping around her small diafram.

Austin glances down the alleyway as he hears the all too familiar sound on Jade shouting out. He silently quirks an eyebrow as to why she's still here, but doesn't think too long on it as it clicks in his mind that she'd fallen and is in obvious pain. He manages to ignore his own discomfort and pain for the time being as his worry for her takes over his entire being. "Jade?" He calls out, his voice hoarse and obviously a bit weakened as he makes his way toward her. "You alright?" He finally reached her, then reaches down to put a gentle hand on her shoulder. This moment reminded him a lot of a party they'd both once attended, where Jade managed to get so drunk she passed out after vomiting everywhere... He'd taken her home that night, taken the keys right out of her bra after carrying her 7 miles back to her dorm. In reality, he'd crashed on the bed along with her last night... Waking up only when the room mate showed up and began beating him with a pillow. Though, he managed to convince her not to mention his presence to Jade... Luckily.

With a small groan on pain, Jade would look up at the familiar voice and place a very shaky hand over his. "F..fine." She'd mutter, then force herself to stand, using the hand she'd put over his as a nice balance. Once fully up, she'd remover her hand from his, this causing her to wobble since her legs were NOT cooperating with her. "Why do you ask anyways Austin?" She slurred, her voice obviously strained as she felt really tired and still really sick. She only hope though, that she could make it the whole 3 miles back to the dorms without vomiting or passing out.

Austin sighs and shakes his head in disbelief at the girl before him. "Bullshit." He calls her out, knowing instantly that she's nothing near fine. He let's out a silent sigh of frustration beforee reaching out and circling his arm around Jade's waist. "C'mon, I'll take you back to my place. Its closer than the dorms. You can sleep it off, and I won't have to worry with the tempting guilt that you got, like... Mugged on the way back, or something." He is rather desperately grasping at straws to come up with an excuse, while in reality he just didn't want to be alone in his apartment while feeling as awful as he does... And for some reason, Jade seemed the perfect company.

Jade leans back heavily on Austin, her logical mind screaming at her no, that she should go home with her bully, while her sick and tired mind was enjoying the warmth he gave off, also how strong his arms actually felt around her along with how amazing this one little moment felt. With a small no, she'd agree to go with him, though her logical mind wasn't happy about this at all. Not really noticing at the point, Jade's own arms had come to rest over his and her eyes had fallen closed. She truly was tired, not only from the Soulmate thing, but from today in general and sleeping with Austin might not be so bad..if he didn't hurt her..or have sex with her. "P..promise me..at least one thing?" She said, her voice very weak and feeble, as well as raw fro the vomiting, her certainly didn't sound like she normally did.

Austin felt his heart beating rapidly as Jade's hands cover his own, a soft smile slipping onto his face rather than the smirk he normally wore around her. However, his tone and expression both turn a bit cautious as he hears the feeble tone to her voice. "What is it, Jade?" His own voice comes out quiet, soft. He didn't want to upset her right now, nor did he feel upo to being cruel... Just this once, in their moment of shared weakness, he'd allow himself to show kindness to the girl in his arms.

Jade lets out a small breath as her head falls back against his shoulder, this giving away exactly how tired she was as she spoke once more in the same tone. "P..promise you won't hurt me..just for once..or..or take my v...virginity while I sleep.." She said, each word coming out slowly, as one could tell, she might just fall asleep in his arms. Actually she felt it quite tempting, but she'd have to keep herself up, one for the walk and two to hear him promise her this one thing..just for tonight. Tonight she wanted to go to sleep peacefully, with the thought of her maybe actually getting sleep and actually having 'sweet' dreams. Tonight, she wanted to just let go of her thoughts and worries of him hurting her while she slept. If he promised her this, then surely for once she'd be content and fall asleep knowing, I. Am. Okay.
