Soul Land is a mystical place with spirit beasts and spirit masters. Many legends, rumors, and secrets swirl about this continent and its anyone's guess as to their legitimacy. All that can be confirmed is that a great spirit master, named Tang San, boosted the renown of Shrek Academy and created the Tang Sect. Both of these organizations became world famous and powerful. Shrek Academy became so influential that they were able to secede and create their own country. Now, they accept only the strongest monster-like students from across the continent, having thousands of students at any given time. The Tang Sect became so numerous and powerful that they were able to influence many of the ruling empires across the continent. They orchestrated and upheld a peace that still exists to this day.
With that said, the Tang Sect has started to splinter. While still holding the Sect's name, they also vow allegiance to whatever empire they live in. Supposedly, it is this splintering that has given some emperors the courage to make small attempts at enlarging their own power. The peace that once spread across the continent is starting to weaken, but for the most part, the every day life of this continent's inhabitants hasn't changed.
