The Thundering Mustelid
World Lore

This world is a creation of many gods. In the beginning there were 4 gods Materia god of matter, ergo god of energy, Pi goddess of Space, and Tempera Goddess of time. These primordial deities built the universe and all that dwelt within it. Yet their life giving power was unstable and often would seep out of their creations giving life to Lesser gods wgo would create lesser life of their own. Universal gods gave birth to galactic gods, who in tern gave birth to stellar gods, planetary gods, and eventually the conceptual gods such as gods of seas, skies, or death.

Earth was one of These parts of creation that sprung a leak, this gave birth to Terra the First goddess of our world, with her there came Sol the god of the sun, and Rhei the goddess of the moon. The three were involved in a strange love triangle. Terra and Sol Gave birth to Son Wukong and The Sky God, whereas Sol and Rhei gave birth to Idris & Ra'zir. Though Son Wukong and Ra'Zir were raised on earth with Terra, The sky Deity was raised with Sol in the sun, and Idris was raised on the moon with his mother Rhei. This was until the moon was struck with a deadly asteriod from a deep space goddess named Nyx who was drawn in by Sol's light. Rhei was killed by the attack in an instant, both Terra and Sol rose in a rage to destroy Nyx, and while successful Terra was badly wounded. Terra began her hibernation to heal and Sol vowed to keep an eye on her children. A task that he ultimately failed in.

Sol encouraged the Children Of Rhei and Terra to create beings who would sing praises of the bravery and benevolence of Rhei and Terra. As such the Sky Deity and Ra'zir created humanity, practicing first with the life of he sea and then the birds of the air. Son Wukong was tasked with creating the beasts of the earth. however due to his trauma suffered from witnessing his mothers death first-hand Idris was deemed to unstable to aide in the creation. In response to this Idris channeled the power of cosmic death and created his own world, the underworld. This inadvertently cursed the whole of the world with the curse of death. From that day forward all things would inevitably die. Enraged at their brothers foolishness the Sky Deity, and Ra'zir cursed him to live in the underworld his only contact to be with the dead. Yet this was a temporary solution. Nearly 150,000 uears later they had to beg him for aide against an otherworldly being, Izekiel.

When the Grand Wizard appeared the first to meet him was Sol. He deemed the Strange being a threat to the creation he and his children had made and launched an attack against him. Yet the grand wizard was able to subdue him lulling him into a deep sleep that he has yet to awaken from.

The children of Sol banded together and came against the Grand wizard as well. But he managed to allow them to see past their anger and fear and see what he had to offer. Magic...

The Gods, Magic, and the Veil.

When the gods were able to see the power of magic exceeding even their own cosmic power they began to study this power and apply it to their creations. Rapidly the world developed, and change came quickly. With magic mortals were able to change and adapt to anything. Mystical variants of humans began to Emerge. Elves, orcs, Dwarves. But something strange came as well. Darkness began to whisper into the ears of all who were touched by magic, the most powerful were immune to he whispers but they were able to percieve the darkness rising and quickly began to blame Izekiel. He attempt to calm the situation but the tension continued to grow on both sides until Izekiel was forced to act. He created the Veil, and when this intervention was ill received and forces gathered against him he made his stand and on the verge of his doom he vowed to return when they needed him most. A vow that seemed validated by his soul never arriving in the underworld.

The past 500 years

Since the Veil rose the world has been divided into two layers seperated by the veil. Magic beings exist in a world that is a reflection of the human world, yet they cannot interact with the human world unless the human in question has magic of their own. Normal humans are wrapped in a barrier that is more powerful than any defensive spell ever made, they can walk through even the most powerful of attacks without even being aware that it was aimed at them. This same barrier prevents them from perceiving or making contact with anything that has magic. The only exception seems to be the Fallen knights whose ability to travel between both worlds gives them a remarkable edge. Magic beings can take a human form and interact with the human world but their magic is dropped to 1% making this a remarkably dangerous thing to do for almost everyone. The human world is governed by the Fallen knights. The Magic world is governed by the Ancients. It is believed that a massive change is about to occur as Sol has shown signs of his stirring.

The 3 Fundamental laws of magic.

1. Magic cannot make something from nothing. Some form of matter or energy must be present to be manipulated by the mana to acheive spells.

2. Any being who uses magic has whats called a domain. This is the culmination of their Body mind and soul. This directly effects their magical capabilities. If the mind is not strong enough to organize the mana they will gain *mana leaks, if their Soul is not strong enough to supply the mana they will suffer from **life drain, if their body is to weak to contain the mana they can suffer from the condition called ***Going Critical. Because this it is almost impossible forbchildren to be effective mages, and training too early can result in a myriad of fatal mistakes. The domains also represent ones magical resistance. The more balanced and powerful the domain the less effected the being will be by magical attacks.

3. Any mage who uses a source of magic other than their own will damage their own domain in the process thus lowering their overall magic power, lowering their magic resistance, and raising the liklihood of spell backfireing.

*Mana leaks- A crack in a magic users domain. This crack makes all spells cost more and each spell used while a mage suffers from a mana leak will make the leak bigger. A side effect of a mana leak is that it attracts magical predators. The bigher the leak the more powerful predators it attracts. Luckily a skilled mage can repair mana leaks in others, and they can even be repaired naturally by exercising, studying, and meditation.

**Life Drain- the soul is the source of mana, but if it is insufficient it will begin to draw mana out of the reserve of life energy a being has. This can cause a Magic user to expend their entire lives to cast a spell. But that isnt even the worst case scenario, if the spell is strong enough and the mage doesnt have enough mana and life combined their soul will begin to drain the life of everything around them to make up the difference. Magic terrorists often use this method to gat more bang for their buck. But over all it is believed to be the most painful experience one can ever have so few have the courage to willingly do this.

***Going Critical- if a mages body cannot withstand the immense amount of mana within them. Their soul will begin to consume the body in an effort to fortify it. If it fails to contain the rampant mana the Magic user suffering the condition will violently explode dyung instantly. However this is not all bad. If the mage can survive going critical their body will be pushed well beyond their limits and going critical a second time becomes almost impossible. (See Sir Brogan for exceeded human limits.)

Mechanics of magic.

Magic in this world is akin to another universal force. Specifically the force of change. Using magic one can change matter and energy into new forms and even guide and control matter and energy. The use of magic is called "Spells". Think of them like a recipe for baking a cake. Except the cake is a fireball and instead of eggs and flower you use mana, flint powder, and Some kind of incantation be it a dance, words, or a hand motion. Using magic without first organizing it into a spell greatly increases the risk of suffering from one of the three above mentioned side effects, while also poseing the likely threat of the spell not working properly or being out of control. When a mage attacks another with a spell it does Both physical and domain damage. Physical damage can be healed quickly by magic, but domain damage can only be repaired by proper maintenance of the body mind and soul. Meaning if you take domain damage dont expect it to heal quickly. If the domain is completly destroyed by the mage, they die and their soul leaves to the underworld. Whatever body is left behind if intact will become a magic eating undead predator. If not intact then they are simply dead. All beings that can use magic have a soul, but not all beings who have a soul can use magic. Vampires, Werewolves, Dragons, Demons, even gods. All have souls, except for undead and remnants.
(anything playble does not count as undead but is a mystic mutation. This includes vampires and similar cases. If any monsters Real lore states that they do not have a soul, in this world that means the soul was changed by magic.

The Life and Culture of the magical world.

The magical world while not peaceful by any means is not plauged by the same long standing issues of theology, morality, and the inner workings of themselves as the humans are. The "Hole" within humans is actually created by the Veil, because it prevents them from knowing the truth of their origen and purpose. This is because they cannot perceive magic, a force which played a huge role in their history, thus massive chunks are blotted out of their story resulting in an empty half understanding of the universe.

Magic creatures are not plauged by such things. Thet know their purpose and their creators. After all many have met the very gods responsible for their creation. The history of the world is recorded in full, from the birth of Sol, Terra, and Rhei. To the revival of Izekiel. The lack of gaps leave many not needing to look to the past, and always progressing forward. As such the magical culture is one where Feelings and emotions hold much more weight than things such as science. The feelings you have will change, the science that has been there forever will not. As such most mages "live in the moment." this also creates a strange connection between all. Even the lowest of magic beings may walk and talk with the gods as equals due to the lack of superiority complexes. All beings no matter how old or young play a role in the tapestry of history. Because of this view even the bitterest of battles rarely result in death. For to take a life before its time is a greivous sin against the tapestry of histories recording. All manner of creature can trace their origens back to the gods and all races that live within the imagination of man dwell in this realm. From minotaurs to vampires, and demons to angels, and everything in between. Yet two mysteries do still exist within the realms of light and darkness. These realms which are beneath the underworld and above the heavens respectively. None know what dwell there and none can venture there no matter how powerful. Many believe whatever created the gods dwell in these realms.

The Revival and the essences.

13 months and 2 days ago the magical world was litterally shook to the core by an immense surge in magical energy. According to reports it was felt like a category 10 earthquake. Magic seals all over the world busted, ancient items were destroyed, and creatures long thought dead miraculously returned. Even the Veil shook. To make matters worse many of these creatures return with power that defies the laws of magic. All on account of The essences, they grant power that in a few cases can even rival that of a gods magic. Yet they also remove the need for components and cost almost no mana to use. This has disturbed the balance of magical power. But this isnt what worries the magic community. The Grand wizard also returned as he promised he would. Yet without his memories he doesnt seem to know what he is needed for. As if this wasn't bad enough the Fallen knights had some kind of forewarning and have already gathered 5 essences. Granting them more than enough power to be a large threat. With all of this unfolding one can only wonder what the future holds.
