Shouz's new and shiny RP partner recruitment thread
I'm currently not looking for that many RP partners and might only accept a few in this round. Don't be afraid of messaging me though! Won't mind just chatting until I become available again
IF you want to start up a roleplay, please send me a PM. There's a bigger chance I'll see it and respond to it.
About me
Personal info
I am a 20 year old from the Scandinavian area. For those of you who are unaware of what the everloving shizzle that is, it's in Northern Europe somewhere. This means that english isn't my native language, though I'd say I'm pretty decent. I've got around 10-11 years of roleplaying experience and approximately 3-5 years of roleplaying experience in english, which is now my preferred roleplay language for roleplay, when roleplaying.
Characters mean a lot to me, and I usually base my roleplays on the characters and their interpretation of what goes on around them. Character development is also something I put a lot of energy into. I can play any gender, just about any age and a wide range of different types. Usually, I play multiple characters at once, both major and minor characters included. I also don't mind killing them off for the sake of character development, or the plot. If the setting allows it, it is going to happen.
When starting a roleplay, I don't like it being too scripted. I like figuring out where to start and give the characters a reason to meet, greet and stick with each other and then just take it from there. Maybe discuss stuff OOC along the way, as progression happens, but no spoilers. Anything could happen, so following a strict plot line kills it a little. I am also more for other relationships than romantic ones. Friendship is a thing, hatred is a thing, weird in-between things is a thing. There's an unlimited amount of different relationships characters can have, and it's not limited to romance. Should romance happen, I prefer it to be a minor thing, that progresses realistically.
World building is interesting, but I prefer my first RP with a new person to be in a pre-made universe. If needed, we can just pick out certain things from certain media and use that to shape something, but writing something from scratch with a completely new person is something I am too anxious to do. It takes so much work and so much preperation. When using an existing lore, it doesn't have to be 100% spot on canon either, and it'll always be with own plot and characters.
AS YOU CAN TELL FROM THIS THREAD, I AM A WORDY PERSON! I usually write around 2-10 paragraphs, but can get waaay above 15 and even reach 20 sometimes if I really go nuts. The insanely long ones are usually limited to starters and after-timeskip scenarios and they're hell to write and takes me forever to write. During dialogue, I can get down to writing as little as one paragraph, to keep it dynamic. On average, I can spit out a reply 1-2 times a week. During holidays, I reply much faster and same goes for dialogue, when the posts are short. In those cases I can squeeze out multiple replies a day. If I take too long, spam me. Just spam me.
About post length, I don't mind you writing as much as you do. I do expect more than one line of text, but with that said I'm not really strict with this. You do you, write however much you feel you need to and feel no need to match up with however much I write. I won't match up just to match up either. I feel like it always ends up seeming so forced. QUALITY OVER QUANTITY!
Interests
Genres/Settings that I could do maybe
- Medieval fantasy, either home brew or an existing universe, such as TES, Dragon Age, Suikoden or something based on another game/book/movie. I prefer going with an already existing universe/lore or handpicking from existing universes/lore, as that's a lot easier and harder to disagree on.
- Steampunk/damppunk. Something that takes place in a steampunk/damppunk setting, with steam driven technology. Examples can be Final Fantasy 6-8, Golden Compass and Howl's Moving Castle. I prefer home brewing the universe and taking a fantasy approach to this, but would be open to a sci-fi approach.
- Anything pirate related, whether it's in the air or on sea or
in space
.
Don't mind either realistic or fantasy with this one, though I prefer it to be in the air or on sea.
- Post-apocalyptic setting, such as the Fallout franchise, global warming or basically anything with zombies. I can also go with a custom setting for this, if the idea is interesting.
- Dystopian futuristic setting, such as cyberpunk or shadowrun or any customized setting there could be. I'm also game for traditional sci-fi
in space
, though it's unfamiliar territory to me, so if that's what you're going for, you might have to enlighten me.
- Modern-day fantasy. As in fantasy in the present, such as Supernatural (The series) or Harry Potter.
- Vampire related stuff, preferably in the present or Victorian era. I'm pretty fluent with the vampire lore, but I'd rather
not
go with the one from Twilight.
- I am very open to suggestions, both regarding setting and plot and is willing to try out new stuff too! So if you want to do a thing not mentioned here, throw it at me anyway.
Roleplay concepts I don't really dig
- Anything where the whole plot is purely based on romance of one kind or another, or where the goal is to archieve a romantic relationship between characters.
- Roleplays that are all about angst, depression or the like.
- Basically anything that revolves around a High School setting or take place in a High School, about High Schoolers or in any other kind of school setting.
- Anime RPs with anime characters.
- Fandom RPs with premade/canon characters.
- Slice of life in a real-life setting (unless there's a really, really,
really,
really
interesting idea behind it).
- Explicit sexual roleplay. I am all for mature roleplay, but sexual stuff needs to be blanked out, as I'm not comfortable roleplaying it in detail.
- Self-harm is a no-go. I don't mind it being subtly hinted in one way or another, but detailed descriptions of it is waaaaay outside of my comfort zone.
- Anything with pairings that would be illegal in real life like zoophilia, minors with much older people or incest. Not now, not later, not ever.
- Teen drama for the sake of teen drama or chickflicks.
- This is stuff I don't dig and won't do. If this is what you're looking for, I'm not the one for you. I'm sure you can find someone else to do the thang with, though!
- Medieval fantasy, either home brew or an existing universe, such as TES, Dragon Age, Suikoden or something based on another game/book/movie. I prefer going with an already existing universe/lore or handpicking from existing universes/lore, as that's a lot easier and harder to disagree on.
Expectations
My expectations
- Communication. I think it's really important to be able to communicate with each other and both give and receive feedback. It'll be perfect if we can get along OOC too!
- Metagaming-free environment. I am not a fan of metagaming or powerplay for obvious reasons. Few exceptions there, if it's agreed upon beforehand, and there's a reason for it.
- Well-written/believeable characters. I put a lot of work into my characters, and I'd be thrilled if you do the same. Strong characters can carry a weak plot, but not the other way around. Obnoxious Mary Sues kills it a little.
- Keeping the roleplay 'realistic'. Meaning that I'd prefer it if there's no forced relationships platonic or otherwise, no sudden actions that would be out of character for your character, for the sake of convenience, personal gain or plot, and realistic story/character progression.
- Mature roleplay. I do not roleplay smut, but I do roleplay as adult characters with adult behavior. I would rather not have to censor myself too much either. Therefore I'd also prefer it if you were 18 years or above.
- Separating IC from OOC. What happens IC stays IC. Don't be a bleeder, all that stuff. It's only roleplay, and what happens is purely fictional.
- Equal contribution. It'd be nice if we could both contribute to the plot, so it doesn't end with one person having to carry it all on their own.
What I'd like to know about you
- How old are you?
- In which timezone are you?
- What do you expect from the roleplay, and what's important to you in a roleplay setting?
- Which kind of character(s) do you usually make, and how do you play them?
- Can you describe your writing style? (Past-tense, present, 1st person, 3rd person, detail oriented, casual, etc. Samples are appreciated but not necessary)
- Is there something you're uncomfortable roleplaying, or find triggering if even mentioned?
- What is it you're good at regarding writing, and what do you have to work on?
- Which settings are you most familiar with, and is there a specific one you'd like to use? (meaning, do you have any specific ideas for plot/starter?)
- Do YOU have any questions for me?
- Communication. I think it's really important to be able to communicate with each other and both give and receive feedback. It'll be perfect if we can get along OOC too!
