Fantasy Simple High Fantasy Adventure: The Princess and the Giant's Curse

Starest

Magic Eight Ball
I'm looking for a partner to play with in a High Fantasy Adventure!

In Naverday, a mysterious visitor has gained the King's attention. The visitor came bearing gifts. For the King himself, a golden idol of one of the gods above. For the beautiful queen a dress made of the finest silk in all the land. And for the darling princess, a ring from the far off eastern lands of Alacarin.

All the smaller gifts like the wine and food were all checked for every known poison. The major gifts too were examined for any curses or spells. However, due to the nature of the curse upon the ring, it went completely unnoticed. But the princess soon discovers the sinister nature of the ring that night when she is unable to remove it from her finger.

Now a dangerous curse upon the princess has caused her to flee the Capital city in search of help with only you to accompany her.

The curse in reference causes the cursed to slowly grow in size. Simple, right?

So I had this idea after watching a mix of low budget fantasy movies, shows, and reading a handful of books. It's very simple, but that's the point! Simple stories have the most potential for adjustments and adaptations. There's so much room for action, comedy, mystery, and romance all in one place! Sound pulpy? That's because it is.

This story fits in the darker mold of the political intrigue or the more light-hearted mold of adventure. Or any genre really, I'm happy to hear your suggestions if you have any. Otherwise, it will be fairly light-hearted.

Now I'm looking for someone to play the Princess's companion on her journey in search of help. Are you my most trusted adviser, utterly loyal to my family and I? Maybe you're my childhood friend, not the most skilled diplomat but just as caring? Or maybe you're a Han Solo-esque scoundrel hired by the king to escort me until help is found? It's totally up to you!

Let me know what you think or if you've got any ideas in mind.

Thanks for reading!

Idea(s) for a companion character:
[Likewise, a freak in his own]
Wolfsbane, a misleading name for a spell. Joshua believed it would keep the wolves away from his livestock. Rather, Joshua himself became a bipedal wolf. Hunched and ugly, but a brave hearted fellow with a knack for exploration. Upon meeting another person with a horrible curse, he puts aside hopes of a cure for himself to help another...

[Thief Of Arkshin]
In the glorious town of Arkshin lived a lad by the name of Lee. Lee Smith. A teenager with sticky fingers and a touch for lock picking... for Smith, thievery was always the answer. Now, faced with the option to abandon a cursed princess and give in to greed or become selfless and help her, Lee hasn't the faintest idea of what to do.

I really like the idea for the first character as it makes his ordeal much more relatable and gives him a very selfless personality. I'm imagining he has a more aggressive side as result of the spell. Or maybe he's just angry because of what happened to him, but that probably starts falling into a heavy cliche. (But who am I kidding, my whole prompt is cliche ;D)

But the second character I think would have a much more meaningful and interesting arc, given whether or not he does come to care for the princess or feel totally callous the whole way. Not to mention the conflict I'm sure would ensue between him and the princess. I also just have a soft spot for these types of somewhat unwilling characters. If I had to choose, I'd likely choose the thief (with a little bit of bias.)

That is some inspiring fantasy work, even though it is full of cliché it is refreshing none the less. Which is a contradiction, not often found.
For my character I would either like to play:
Sage, a wise druid who has been looking for a way to prove his worth as a medium for the gods for years. But truth be told, he sucks at his job. When Sage heard that the princess was cursed, he was filled with hope. Maybe this was a sign from the gods that it was finally his time to show the world that he was ready to be a speaker of nature`s truths.
Or:
Raphael, who does not have much to account for himself. He is a poor man, who often believes a little too much in his own skills. He has been known to take on more than he can chew. His heart is at its essence good, but he values challenges over anything. Raphael always was something of a thug and thus he would only be chosen for this quest if he would be the last possible option.

I can't believe you like both of them!! I'm totally willing to play the thief character if you want me to.

I've got a real soft spot for clichés, as you can probably tell. Sage seems like a really fun character to play alongside. I'd definitely pick them as a character to play with.
