The Royal Family of Rioan
The royal family was first formed 300 years after the nuclear war that almost wiped out humanity, by a warrior male of Delves and a young woman from the snowy region of Yianyl, bringing about a strong alliance between the two regions. The warrior carried a special ability that allowed him to withstand the highest of temperatures without turning to ashes, many dubbing it as “Heatbreaker”. The man soon passed down his ability to his heirs, but with each generation it would change form. One heir may have incredible intelligence, but the next may have extraordinary strength. The family took on the role of being not just rulers of the Delves region, but the protectors of the people. And would use their powers and army to keep the citizens safe. This role has continued for centuries up until this time.

Technology

The people Delves use a type of crystal as a form of communication, a technology leftover from before the nuclear war. The common public has access to only a certain color of crystal, usually being clear in color. These connect to the public call lines, it takes a bit longer for messages to get through though. Citizens will often carry their crystal on a necklace or a bracelet. The royal army carries a scarlet colored crystal, this allows messages to be transported much faster due to urgency, and can connect to the public call lines in case of a emergency to warn the people. The royal army line also connects to the royal family line to receive orders or give news. The royal family carries a blue colored crystal, which connects to the army call line and allows them to give orders and receive news. To send a message through a crystal, one must place their thumb on the flat bottom of the crystal and speak aloud. The crystal will absorb the sound waves and send them off to the recipient.

A few medicinal technologies remain from the pre-nuclear era, including stapling and stitching together wounds, tourniquet, and a patch that heals internal wounds if placed on the surface of the skin. The process usually takes a couple hours to a few days depending on the wound.

The people of Delves have a system to heat their homes and buildings, but not to cool them. This isn’t needed though since they live in a rather mild climate. They also have a form of refridgeration by sliding slabs of ice into the inner walls of a insulated box, the ice usually last for up to a year and is replaced during the cold season when new ice can be harvested.

The royal army also uses a form of laser, or plasma technology in their weapons. There are normally placed where a blade or sharp end would be, such as in a sword, spear, or arrow. The searing heat produced by it allows the army to swiftly cut through any threats. They also have a form of artillary as well, and will fill a canon to the brim explosives to take out any enemies at a distance.

Region

The Delves region hosts mild summers, the highest temperature getting up to 75 degrees Fahrenheit, and chilly winters, the lowest temperature being -25 degrees Fahrenheit during the winter. Springs are usually extremely soggy and full of rain.

The region itself has fairly good trade with it’s allies, and exports goods of grain, green vegetables, medicinal plants and herbs, and dairy from goats. Delves hosts a lot of domesticated goat herds, which provides milk, cheese, and furs. The only animal that has been domesticated for meat harvesting is poultry, otherwise meat has to be hunted from deer and wild boar. A typical meal of a citizen of Delves would consist of a large loaf of bread, goat cheese, or a small salad. Meat is usually saved for special occasions and is stored for the winter.
