Much like Heidi, Theo hadn't stayed at the group's table for too long. They arrived together but as soon as she knew where everyone would be seated, she headed off toward the bar to get herself a drink as well as a quick bite to eat. As much as she enjoyed drinking, Theo didn't handle her liquour very well. In a way it wasn't so bad β€” she didn't have to spend as much as some of the others to get a good buzz going. She just needed to make sure she remained fed and hudrated throughout it or she'd be well on her way to dancing on tables before ultimately passing out in one of the bathroom stalls. It had happened before, and the mere smell of vodka still made her feel sick because of it.

Tonight she was sticking to rum. Since they'd arrived she'd been through three drinks and two plates of fries, and though she was only slightly buzzed at the moment, the feeling of being in the middle of the dance floor while surrounded by people and music was enough of a high on its own. Theo thrived in the presence of other people, and from the moment she had her first drink, it didn't take her too long to latch onto a stranger before proceeding to dance with him. Given that dancing was Theo's passion, there was no doubt that it was what she was going to be spending most of her night doing. She was taking a break from the pirouettes and pliΓ©s and simply letting her body move to the more fast-paced music.

Theo seemed to forget about everything else when she was dancing. The fact that the guy she'd managed to rope in seemed to be a decent dancer as well was a bonus, and while she would have been more than happy to see where the night took them, she became curious about her friends a couple of songs later. That, and she needed a refill of her drink.

Theo's movements slowed, though not to a complete stop. She continued to sway a little to the music as she leaned in to speak into the guy's ear, "I'm gonna go get a drink." She supposed she should have actually asked for his name before they started dancing, and she figured that the chances of finding him alone again on the dance floor were slim β€” he was a good looking guy after all β€” but Theo wasn't too worried. She intended on dragging someone back to the dance floor with her, and she was counting on it being one of her friends. Heidi was already there, she'd noticed him hand in hand with a stranger just a few minutes ago, but she could bet that the rest were off in their own corners, likely far from all the dancing.

Without waiting for any kind of nod of approval from her current partner, Theo shimmied her way through the crowd of tipsy dancers till she made it to the bar. In such situations, she was fine using her appearance to try and get what she wanted because with her height and the number of people by the counter that were all undoubtedly taller than her, it would have taken Theo forever to catch the bartender's attention otherwise. Simply flashing those dusty blue eyes and batting her eyelids did the trick, and the guy headed off to get what she'd ordered.

While she waited, Theo turned around and rested her elbows on the counter behind her. She'd worked up a bit of a sweat already but she wasn't anywhere near tired. One by one, she tried to scan the area for any of her friends. Off to the side, at their table, she was able to see Henry seated with a drink. Heidi had made his way to him, it seemed, and Theo smiled knowingly. With Heidi in the picture, she figured it wouldn't be long before Henry joined them on the dance floor. So, Theo shifted her gaze and looked in the other direction. Right at the bar, just a few seats down from where she stood, she spotted Zed, clearly hitting up one of the bartenders. The corners of her lips twitched up into a smirk and as soon as she got her drink, she moved in his direction.

At the risk of receiving glares or annoyed looks for breaking up what was probably a sure thing, Theo sidled up to Zed and claimed the stool beside him since it happened to become vacant just as she arrived. "Why aren't you dancing?" She nudged his arm gently with her elbow as she spoke and then took a long sip of her drink before speaking again. "You'd probably have more luck out there in case this isn't working out." The slight slurring of Theo's words gave away the fact that she was a little more than tipsy β€” that, and the fact that she was speaking much louder than necessary. She wasn't on her way to passing out yet though.

It hadn't taken long for the rest to go their separate ways once they had found an empty table to call their own. Even Kael had disappeared into the crowd leaving him to his own devices for a change of pace. If Henry was to be honest, he wasn't used to spending his time alone at a table. It was usually the other way around but an argument had brewed up not too far from where they were and - ever so predictable - Kori had left to see what had happened. At least he had managed to snag a sazerac before then.

The nightclub was livelier than usual. Midterms brought that out of the best of them, he supposed. After all, he was here, wasn't he? He smiled to himself at the thought. He preferred one of the quiet, classier joints where he wasn't bound to run into somebody he knew. EDM had never been quite his style.

Running his fingers along the edge of the table, Henry searched the crowd for a glimpse of the others when his phone vibrated uncomfortably against his thigh and he pulled it out. Another message from somebody asking him how he thought he did after the anxiety had set in. Considering how their grades were defined by the exams, it wasn't a surprise. "Is this seat taken?" He hadn't heard them approaching, the music easily masking the stranger's footsteps and he glanced up from his phone.

What a sight for sore eyes.

He was tall, handsome, and a welcomed change of pace from the absolute mind-numbing task of being a glorified bag left behind as a placeholder. Tipping his head, he glanced towards the seat across from him. "It could be."

The invitation didn't go unnoticed as the stranger settled down across from him with his own drink in hand. That was the first in a long string of strangers that had stopped by the table over a span of hours. A few had gotten handsy - endearingly so - and a simple nudge had been enough to get them off of him. A pleasant blur of faces and meaningless conversations accounted for all his lost time - including, but absolutely not limited to a rather short but hot and heavy kiss in front of the restrooms before the poor girl was dragged away by her entourage towards the dance floor. He watched her go with a small smile, wiggling his fingers in a gesture of farewell even as she had laughed and pressed a note into his hands.

Somehow that had gotten him right back to the very start, singlehandedly manning the table. However, his mood had picked up drastically with a fair share of drinks and kisses. He was more than content to simply mull over his newest obsession - an ARG that had hit the internet by storm last week when he was held hostage by his books, unable to get caught up. He was drinking something else now - deciding to try something new for a change - and was casually sipping away at a strawberry gin martini when a rather familiar voice spoke up. He didn't glance up from what he was looking at even though he smiled in response as he heard the leather seats squeak in accommodation towards the newfound weight on them. "Yes and no. It almost wounds me that you think I've been alone for the past few hours," He said in turn before putting down his phone. Well, wasn't that unusual. Something told Henry that the extra drink wasn't for him but he couldn't help himself.

"It's sweet that you came bearing gifts though," Henry teased, pushing his own drink aside to curiously examine what Heidi had brought with him. "You know you don't have to bring a drink to bribe me if it's a dance you want. I'd love to join you, but I can't promise our table won't be stolen in the next five minutes if one of us isn't here."

Following Heidi's gaze, he looked towards the bar. It was hard to tell which of them Heidi was with, but he figured unless the other could give him a proper solution to the problem on their hands, he could make light conversation. "Waiting on somebody?" He placed the glass back down and pushed it towards Heidi, spotting Zed and Theo over there. He knew Zed had been trying to pick up the bartender for a while now, but it seemed that any progress he had made was a lost cause and Henry couldn't help but chuckle to himself at the idea. Oh, Theo.

It is probably peculiar but Zed feels more at home and at ease around the booming sound of the Vapor than the confined spaces of his accommodation. It's probably because of the noise. He always preferred the blasting sound compared to the eerie silence enveloping his abode. If he was ever alone, there's always a background music playing. From classical music to Weird Al, depends on his mood. He just needs something to cover the silence.

Just as expected, Vapor is packed with his fellow students, all has the same agenda of blowing off steam after the hectic and mind crunching examination period. It was hell. Examination period is something that fills a student with a sense dread. It's where they question everything starting from why they enrolled in the university in the first place. One of the prerequisites of the academy is having brilliant mind but the exams always took things to the next level hence making some students question their intelligence. Thankfully, it is over and the Vapor is there to rescue them from perdition.

The music playing was upbeat and he can't help but to smile as he walks in the room. Zed was feeling a little extra happy, it was probably because of the brownies he baked. He first saw Heidi, dancing like a fey during a solstice. His blonde hair glowing as his body rocks back and forth. He looks like Tinkerbell, Zed immediately thought. That's when he knew that the brownies are definitely kicking in. It was a special batch after all and it reminded him to share some with Heidi. Next one he spotted was Theo gyrating with someone. By the looks of it she was being a little extra friendly that time. Zed wanted to cheer on but decided not to and not risk an earful from her. Zed then finally saw Henry, brooding alone in their table. He reckons he's probably revising some exam questions he found grammatically incorrect. That or he's mentally breaking and calculating the chemical compound found in his drinks. A weird past time but Henry definitely have done something much weirder. Zed just gave him a wave and pointed the bar where he sauntered to. His other friends were nowhere to be found.

--

"Ah, thank you Cleo. A delight as ever. This is the fourth drink on the house, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you're trying to get me drunk." Zed muttered conspiratorially with a wink as he took a sip of his Manhattan. He was still lounging in the bar at the far end, enjoying his drinks.

"We both know you're tougher than that," The beautiful blonde bartender smirk, "Besides, I’ve moved on." She added, flashing her hand, on the ring finger an engagement ring with quaint diamond was glittering.

"Boo, no fun." Zed chuckled. "You know it was said that someone who can tie the cherry stem with their tongue is supposedly an excellent kisser," he added in as a matter of fact tone. Zed fished out one Maraschino cherry and popped it inside his mouth, after a few seconds, he stuck out his tongue, there on the tip was the cherry stem perfectly knotted. Zed took it and held it in front of his face, "I hope you had him try it out before saying 'yes' to him. It would be a damn shame." A sly smile played on his lips while looking at her under his thick lashes. Under the lights of the bar, he could see her shy smile."Of course, you already know but I’m just saying." he said, placing the knotted stem on his napkin.

He could see the hesitation in her eyes, the challenge, and the desire and yearning. Cleo cleared her throat and just rolled her eyes to compose herself, "Just call me if you need anything else." Zed nodded, smiling oh-so innocently as he watches the blonde girl sashayed away to help out the next customer.

"Why aren't you dancing?" A familiar voice from his side said, he lazily looks to his side, there Theo was nursing a drink in hand. "You'd probably have more luck out there in case this isn't working out."

"Oh, my dear sweet Theo." Zed beamed at her, "I'm fine, besides the night is still young. Or you can say early morning is still young." he added confidently. "What about you? What happened with the one you're having a version of tΓͺte-Γ -tΓͺte gone wild with?" With a raised eyebrow, he peered on her drink and took a sniff. He finally figured the cause of her slightly slurred speech."My my. Alright, Captain Jack Sparrow. You're in a mood." Zed chuckled. He took his glass and raised it, "A votre santΓ©! To pillaging and pilfering the town."

Kori was grateful to leave the table. He was always cautious, always paranoid that someone would figure out what club Kori was part of, especially now that members were disappearing. If one member at their table got found out, all of them would be screwed, and Kori was not planning on getting caught.

He left the table to go find out the cause of the shouts near the bar, quietly slipping his way through the club towards the source of the disruption. It was louder than Kori was used to; he was not a fan of all the noise. Kori preferred a more private and quiet celebration, but it was midterms, and the rest of the club had decided to go. He hadn't been to Vapor many times before, so he was unsure if the nightclub was usually this busy; he assumed not, since a ton of people had come to celebrate the end of midterms.

Kori calmed down the situation fairly quickly; he'd had lots of experience with drunks wanting to prove dominance over others. After the whole ordeal, Kori decided to relax for just an hour or two. He bought himself some fries and a cocktail, proceeding to settle down near the fringes of the crowd. He was not a people-person, and he was not a dancer, either. He wasn't one for large amounts of alcohol, but he figured that he'd wind down for a while after midterms.

Eventually, Kori got used to the music and all the chatter, finishing his second screwdriver. He managed to find both Heidi and Theo in the crowd, predictably dancing to their heart's content. Pulling out his phone, he took a few candids, along with a few captures of the general mood in the nightclub. They turned out pretty well; he'd probably send them to his friends if they were good enough.

He sat back in his phone, and, with nothing better to do, pulled up a couple of videos he'd taken with his drone earlier in the week. They were decent; Kori edited both of them so they were more visually appealing. Maybe he'd go flying some more later in the night, or later in the morning, depending on how you'd look at it.

He got a little bored, and decided to make his way back to their table in search of some conversation, grabbing another drink along the way. As Kori got closer, he managed to overhear Henry's and Heidi's conversation. Without warning, he sat at the table, pulling up an ebook on his phone.

"You guys dance yourselves away; I'll hold the fort here." Kori grinned, slightly intoxicated.

THE ARCANUM.

  • β€” Kael Huyhn;

Vapor wasn’t Kael’s first choice in terms of β€˜celebratory venues’, evident to those who read him well. But he didn’tβ€”couldn’t exactly refuse, not when it had been such a staple in the community. A place to enjoy, to let loose, as his peers had said. And while he preferred the subtleness of ambling the greenery outside, he was socially obligated to ensure the safety and...dignity of his companions, not that he’d be doing much of the latter.

But he supposed, midterms did such things to peopleβ€”made them opt to head to a place of indistinguishable faces and liquor of plentiful amounts. All he could see from his spot was the messy bobbing of heads, most not even matching the beat of the music, and the flashing colorful lights that he swore always left him dizzy after their time there ended. It wasn’t too bad right now, as they’d only started their night out, so Kael could still hold his own.

He was leaning on the glass railing on the second floor, sleeves rolled up, skin making contact with the cool surface of the metal portions of it. It was the only thing remotely cool about the place, which was swarmed with sweaty bodies and careless breaths.

Kael watched as Heidiβ€”blonde hair and allβ€”got himself engulfed by his usual crowd of strangers. He stood out, Kael couldn’t deny that, and while Heidi was the obvious choice to keep watch of, the man knew how to handle himself. Experience and such things, that much was apparent. Though Kori was another candidate, as he’d always managed to find himself in the midst of some argument, which could inevitably lead to a worse scenario than what he’d begun with. But, then again, Kori spent the rest of his time by the table, which wasn’t anything to complain about at all.

Theo was less of a hassle than Heidi because she at least stuck with one or two strangers, making it easy enough to scan through the crowds for. Zed was in a similar position with Theoβ€”mainly located in one specific area (Though he doubted he would remain in the quite nice spot he’d stayed at for a while, what with Theo’s arrival as a catalyst of sorts). And Henry? He was here and there, really, because Heidi had stumbled in and everyone had mingled with one another at some point, and they’d all end up somewhere on the dance floor soon.

And really, if Kael wasn’t left alone (And he was, fortunately. For now.) for the majority of this period, he’d most likely get overwhelmed. He wouldn’t talk about it, not seriously, but in forms of rare jokes with the rest. He stayed put for a moment, and let the music fade away, leaving him in a space of darkness. The midterms weren’t as bad, but there was even more to think about, even though the main reason they were here was to forget, just for a little while. For an inkling on the page of time, they could perhaps let their souls leave themselves, and ensure a dose of serotoninβ€”dopamine, whichever. But Kael, with nothing to busy himself with, could not.

Kael left his position a good while into the night, and made his way down the stairs. He was clad in a thief’s visage, and rarely was his presence noticed until he made himself known. Then again, perhaps he excelled in appearing behind everyone’s backsβ€”Kori’s specifically for the moment at hand.

β€œI’m glad you didn’t get yourself into more trouble than what your time is worth today,” He nudged Kori’s shoulder with his bare elbow, β€œwouldn’t want a bloody nose on celebration night, hm?” With a chuckle, he took a seat beside the man, and stared at the other two who had seemingly appeared while he made his way down.

β€œPlease don’t get too intoxicated tonight, hm? Pass my wishes onto Theo if you see her too, and Zed...well, you know,” Kael attempted to inform them, though he wouldn’t be surprised, nor would he care too much if the music drowned him out.
