Fantasy Sengoku: Dying Embers

Riko copied and memorized the techniques demonstrated by Tenshi, albeit executing them clumsily, not used to the unusual positions. Once she'd gotten the hang of them, she and Tenshi made their way back to the others. She rested her chin on her closed fist as the rest of their group threw out suggestions. While she wouldn't know the best tactics and plan to follow and was quite impressed by the ideas, she still wanted to give her input. Be one of them, or something. She doubted she'd know better than the trainees though.

"Um..." Riko paused when they turned around to look at her. A few expressions revealed skepticism. She paid them no mind. She was just doing her part in the strategizing.

"Well, I was thinking two groups would suffice. Eight near the flag, keeping a lookout and guarding, while the other eight could head out and scout. The ones who'll scout could still be divided into groups, doesn't have to be evenly, and meet up to discuss and pass on information. Maybe this way, we won't be too many groups that we'll be weakened and separated, and we're not so many that communicating would really be an issue. And uh, we could have decoys. It might not be easy to trick them but it could give us time. At some point, one of us could even pretend we got the samurai's flag. Could lead them away from it and actually take it? Some would stay behind though, but I think would could manage. Just some suggestions. Not by any means solid or proper ones," she added meekly.

Okay, maybe she shouldn't have said anything. She wasn't very good at planning, seeing as how she wasn't experienced in it. Save for the pranks. Though she couldn't take all the credit for those alone. Riko wouldn't mind if her ideas were refuted. If someone could even take one of them and improve it to put to good use, she'd be more than glad. Though she almost hoped her suggestions would be drowned out by more suitable strategies born of training and experience she didn't have. Knowing Tenshi, his knowledge and skill would prove handy in forming the perfect strategy, with or without the others' propositions.

"I'd like to hear your thoughts, Tenshi," Riko said as she attempted to redirect the attention.

Tenshi thought it over, nodding every now and then as he went over the ideas in his head. Seems she learned quite a bit from their hijinks together in the palace about shinobi tactics. "That's a very solid foundation, Riko." He complimented, smiling as he began to build up from Riko's suggestions. "Arlight, we'll split into two main teams. Team A will be the offensive and recon team, Team B will handle defensive measures and misdirection." He suggested, drawing a diagram. "The Samurai will likely be splitting into small groups in order to fan out and locate us. Team B can send two groups of two in order to set traps and plant decoy bases throughout the woods. Look for any good hiding spots and plant fake flags there, along with decoy teammates to throw them off." He stated, picking up a stick and drawing a diagram in the dirt as he continued:

"The offensive team, meanwhile, will split into groups of two, and they'll approach in a u-shape with the gap facing away from the enemy. The center two will try to divert the Samurai away from the area while the defenders set up their traps and maybe get them a bit lost in the woods or if possible, disable them. Those on the wings will go around the enemy formation and gather intel on their base."

As he concluded, he drew a rough map of the area around the diagram. "Any questions?" With no one speaking up, he smiled before putting his mask on. "Then let's do this. Riko, I want you on one of the defensive teams. Shinji, go with her." One of the students nodded.

"Wind guide you." he said with a smirk.

"Shadows guard you." Tenshi replied. Then, the offensive team took off.

"C'mon, then." Shinji said, leading her through the forest. As they went about the woods, he taught her how to make convincing straw dummies and how to tie certain knots so she can help him set harmless traps to slow the samurai down. However, he wasn't quite as talkative or eager to teach her anything outside the necesarry skills for their role as Tenshi might've been. "So, what's it like, living in the palace?" he asked.
