This Roleplay has been rebooted: http://www.rpnation.com/forums/secrets-of-the-toriga-system.869/
In 3175, Earth had become too polluted and damaged for the human race to safely live there any more. Over the next few years, the remaining survivors were sent to colonies in the Toriga System. They explored the nearby worlds and discovered four habitable planets with a variety of strange humanoids already living on them. Now, human technology is being slowly integrated into the lives of these races to improve their lives.
Although there are rumours circulating that the humans have an agenda of their own.

The Adventurer's Guild
Yin and Bolin Taesen'anea founded the Adventurer's Guild 12 years ago, when they were 20. Originally the guild was just a bar, and their jobs only came in slowly. Over the years, their renown had grown and the Adventurer's Guild had grown in size, expanding to bars across the System. The main Headquarters of course is on Cetis in the Outcast city, Vilsyrka.
They work with the local Governments and both train and manage members and potential members in and out of combat, in both large and small tasks. When help is required on a Planet or Colony, the Adventurer's Guild is called upon. They also travel to Earth once in a while with groups to search the ruined landscape for trinkets and treasures to sell or trade.
Technology Availability
Humans: They have the highest amount of technology available to them. Aside from the technology on the colonies, they have plasma based weapons. From rifles to swords, they are used in the military and by adventurers, criminals and the law.
Ialdor: Traditionally, the Ialdor like classy weaponry like swords and pistols. Some also use crossbows as well as bows and daggers.
Cavr: The Cavr tend to avoid conflict, taking their roles on the backlines and healing and shielding the injured. They can use staves to help channel their powers, these have to be hand carved for the best connection with the wielder.
Eurium: The elves of the snowy lands use crafted wands equipped with gems to help channel their Snowmagic. They also use bows and long, thin, elegantly curved swords.
Taur: The Taur are adept with longbows, quarterstaffs and spears. They also rely on their brute strength to overpower their enemy.
Ny'iss: Aside from using their terraforming powers, the Ny'iss are diverse warrior-hunters who are good with spears, axes, bows, crossbows, fist weapons and the smaller Ny'iss like the rabbit and mice, use sickles.
Planets, denizens and flora/fauna of note.

Planets, denizens and flora/fauna of note.
- One of the most inhospitable places in the the universe, Cetis is by far the driest and most desert-ridden planet in the Toriga System. The only species willing to inhabit such a dry, desolate world are the noble Ialdor; a feline race whose homeworld wasted away long ago. (Pronouced: Ee-al-door.)
Despite the planets harsh weather and infertile soil, the Ialdor created a city around the largest body of water on Cetis. the Oasis Sea. While there are many outlying clusters of banished and 'unworthy' people who live in the harsh climate, there were none that came remotely close to the mighty city of Asildra. (A-sill-dra)
The city itself is build into the side of the mountain that lays on the western side of the Oasis Sea. Hundreds of prideful purebred Ialdor live there. They are a judgemental people and are quick to cast out the unworthy or any half-breeds, leaving them to fend for their lives on the burning sands. A lot perish. The looks of Ialdor can range from lynxes (mostly found in males) to sand cats. Their children are called cubs, and are born furred and blue-eyed like domestic cats. Ialdor can reach around 150 years old. Their fur normally comes in whites, creams, browns and beige. Although grey and ginger are not uncommon, they are seem as 'low class' colours, whereas white is seen as 'high class'.
Those who have been cast out of the city, the half-breeds, those who are deemed unworthy; or those who have broken laws travel the desert-ridden planet in search of smaller bodies of water. The smallest, temporary water sources are drained and filtered for drinking. The more permanent ones are home to small communities of outcasts, often dug into the earth for the cooler climate away from the sun.
The Ialdorian people are well-known for known for their amazing golden horses that are fleet of foot and fiery of temper. They are not cheap to purchase.
- Magesrice, a type of bush with sharp bark grows here. The seeds are harvested, turned into a flour and turned into various baked goods.
Thornpalm, a type of tree with poisonous petals that have large thorns on the edges. It also produces large, green fruits which fall to the ground when ripe. They are used in cooking.
Burning-grass, a brilliant red and orange bush that is in fact a type of root vegetable, which is good for eating. It has velvety roots which are used for medicine. The leaves are used for pigments. The vegetables are long with grey flesh and thick, brown skin that has to be peeled prior to consumption.
- Golden Steed - The noble, fiery tempered horses of the desert. They're sold all over the system at a high price. They are a shimmering gold in colour with thin, strong legs.
Sand Lizard - A giant iguana that burrows underneath the sand and waits for its prey. It has black eyes and large spines along its back.
Desert Hawk – A small, tawny coloured hawk that primarily eats sandmice and thornpalm fruits. Often trained and sold as pets, or used for hunting.
Sandmice – Tiny little mice that come out in after dusk, they're generally black with very long tails. They eat the sharp bark of the Magesrice plant. Their meat is a delicacy across the system.
Cave Serpent - 6ft in length, and terrifying; the Cave Serpent spends all of its time under the ground guarding medium sized water supplies. Over the aeons, the snakes skin and organs have become completely transparent; leaving only the skeleton visible. They nest in groups of 6 and are very vicious.
- The Ialdorian people were gifted telekinesis by their Deity on their homeworld, like any magic, it is stronger in Purebred Ialdor than half-breeds. The military trains Ialdor to use their telekinesis to wield a secondary melee weapon.
- One of the smaller planets in the Toriga system, this planet consists of mostly marshlands and a wide violet-coloured sea. The sky here reflects the colour of the sea and gives the world a violet-tinge during the day time.
Villages here are built on thick legs above the water. A few hunters will kill the large, docile turtles here, selling the meat and the shell. The capital is Feland, a huge city built on thick stilts above the marshy waters and is accessed by raised wooden walkways which snake across the planet to connect farms and villages.
The Cavr (Ka-vir) are hardworking and strong from traversing the marshes day in and day out. They're an amphibious race, resembling humanoids that often have plant-like features. The Cetae (Seh-tay) leads these people and is said to communicate with the giant leviathans that float through the skies, and has flowers that bloom in her vine-like hair. Their skin is generally shades of browns or greens and they tend to wear darker clothes, dyed from Darkivy berries. Their young are hatched from eggs like frogs, and at first look like tadpoles (and are called tadpoles). As they grow, they gain more Cavr features. They can live to be 90.
- Rainbush, a type of root vegetable that also has golden berries growing on it. The berries are edible and have a sweet flavour. The root vegetable itself is shaped like a droplet of water and tastes like sweet potato.
Meadowlettuce, a large bush with soft flat leaves. The leaves are used for cooking, and the roots are used in medicine.
Darkivy, a large creeper with black berries that are used for pigments. The roots are used for medicine.
Other: Rice is also grown here, and recently turtle farms are being built to make it easier to farm and harvest turtles.
- The Great Crabs: The majestic onyx coloured crabs live in the marshes, their huge, strong claws able to cut a humanoid in half. They are hunted for their meat and shells, the shells are turned into shields and decorative goods traded with the other races.
Marsh Spider: A giant, long legged spider that can cross the marshes with ease. The more docile spiders are tamed and ridden by the amphibious denizens of the planet.
LyreFrog: A strange, dirt coloured frog that stands around 1ft in height and it has warm orange eyes. Instead of croaking like most frogs, the LyreFrog mimics the sounds around it. Not unlike the Lyrebird that used to inhabit Earth.
Waterbug: Commonly known as Starflies, waterbugs are a common sight late at night. They travel in large clusters, their wings glowing as bright as the stars in the night sky. They're seen as good luck, and are often kept in children's rooms in clear jars or baskets to ward off evil.
Leviathan: Grand floating creatures that swim through the air. They look similar to the long dead whales of earth. Their gentle calls echo across the land day and night. They are the revered creatures of the Cavr and protect the planet.
- The Cavr are renowned for their healing and shielding abilities, their spells are watery and their shields often have little lilypad leaves forming the front.
A lush planet that has thick forests, rolling hills, and packs of large two-tailed black wolves roam the land at night. Hunters not only protect travellers and villagers from them, but they sell the pelts and meats for a tidy profit. Most villages here are protected by high walls build around the capital and smaller outposts. The capital is The Silver Fort, the largest village with Silverstone walls, built from the Silverstone from the snowy planet Kelepsie.
The Ny'iss are the bipedal animal-human hybrids that live on this planet. Some are rumoured to have been outcasts from other planets, long since forgotten. Their looks can vary from the purebred to those who look almost human save for several features. They're also known for not wearing shoes. Their young are called by whatever type of animal hybrid they are. They can live for 120 years.
(Feline Ny'iss don't exist. Feline humanoids are always Ialdor.)
Cottonivy, a type of shrub with red buds grows here at the bases of trees. The buds are crushed and used for pigments. The leaves are very soft and are used for medicine.
Dogcreeper, is a type of bush that grows low to the ground, and spreads out the longer it grows. It has brown skin and is used for pigments and medicine. The roots are edible and are used for cooking.
Tigertree. A medium sized, tree with a thick trunk that's black with orange stripes on the bark. The sap is golden in colour and used for expensive pigment and just as expensive medicines. It grows in the deepest parts of the forest. The stripes are luminescent and glow orange in the night.
Other: Wood is also harvested from the forests here carefully, and more trees are planted in their stead. Many game birds also live here and are hunted for their meat, eggs and feathers.
Twin-Tailed Wolf: Large two tailed wolves that come in a wide variation of colours from the rare albino, through shades of black and shades of browns and reds. They are hunted for their meats, skins and teeth. The rarest wolves have coloured tails that differ in colour.
Forest Tiger: Trained as mounts, these horse-sized tigers have huge orange, striped leathery wings. They are quite often used by hunters.
Grass Rabbit: Named for their grass-green pelts, Grass Rabbits are bred for their meats and pelts. There are also many wild ones that roam the forests. They're very docile, even in the wild are sometimes are kept as pets.
Strangedeer: These extremely elusive and rare deer are said to roam in the deepest parts of the forests and cast no shadow, nor reflection. Their hides and meat are highly prized, and are only sold to the highest bidders from across the system. Their hides are chromatic in colour, and their meat a rich violet tone which is tender and full of flavour.
- The Ny'iss have minor terraforming abilities that was gifted to them to help them shape the earth to their needs.
This harsh icy planet never sees a day without snow. Mountain goats roam here freely and they are hunted for their hide and wool, as well as their horns and meat. The capital is The Icy Reach located in the face of the largest mountain on the planet. There is a large sea, but it remains permanently frozen.
Stocky and muscular, the Eurium are rugged and tough to match their habitat. Their hair comes in any shade, although their eyes are generally shades of violet. They wear heavy furs and thick hides to shield themselves from the snows. They have long, upright ears and skin in shades of blue or white/black. Deep in the massive snowy forests live clans of Taur who live off the land and work with the Eurium in the mines and farms. They are mostly equine and canine Taur, some are more adventurous and will travel the system; although it’s a bit awkward as most places don’t cater for Taur. Young Taur, like Ny'iss are referred to whatever hybrid they are. The Eurium have the longest life spans of the mortal races and can live for up for two thousand years.
Wintergrass, a large bush with seeds that appear to sparkle in the light. The seeds are used for medicine, and are hard to come by as the bush grows on the sides of cliffs.
Snowhazel, a small shrub that grows in the open. It has sparkling ointment in it's skin that is used for medicine. The nuts that grow on this bush are used for cooking.
Snowthistle, a type of root vegetable that has thick leaves which contain an ointment used for medicine. The vegetable itself is spined, but once peeled; is delicious cooked or raw.
Other: Deep mines are dug into the sides of the mountains, as they contain precious metals and gems. Silverstone is mined from here and sent all over the system.
Mountain Horse: Massive, thick furred 6-legged horses that are hardy and strong. They’re built for such a rough terrain and are the choice mounts of the Eurium. Their fur tends to be black, and is very long at the fetlock.
Snow Imp: A mischievous, and thankfully rarely seen creature. The snow imp is known for causing avalanches, and trying to push people from the mountains. They’re terrified of mountain horses. They stand around 4ft in height and appear to be made of semi-transparent icicles, their eyes glow a bright white and no two imps look the same.
Wisp: Said to guide travellers through blizzards, wisps often manifest as a large majestic stag. As there are no stags on Kelepsie, they’re obvious when spotted. They are known to be guardians of the Icy Reach, and are repaid for their kindness in sweets and honey.
Mountain Goat: As white as the snow itself, the mountain goat has long thick, coarse fur and fatty meat which is a common staple for the Eurium. Their fur is used for many things, and is treated to become softer so it can be used for Snowcloaks worn by travellers and hunters.
- The Eurium people have the most power in the System, they have offensive, arcane Snowmagic. It's power is lessened in areas of no snow, and barely usable in the desert. It involves manipulating either already created snow, or converting the water in the air to snow and ice.
The largest spacebourne colony in the Toriga system, Colony E-5009 boasts artificially generated plant-life, as well as an artificial lake in the centre of the Colony. It homes the richer members of the human population after their home planet, Earth, was left a dying planet due to their misuse. They are constantly on the hunt for a new, habitable planet to claim (or overthrow). Countries no longer exist, and the colony has a zero-tolerance policy for violence.
There are other, smaller colonies throughout the system; but none as impressive as E-5009.
It was the human race who introduced the other planets in the system to their technologies, and Inter-System-Communications (ISC) are now in place that allow contact from planet to planet, and to the human space colonies. Human technology is slowly being implemented with care into each planet to assist the denizens in having ‘better’ living conditions. Currently, the remaining human population is estimated at around 500 thousand. Their life span is longer than it used to be, and they can now reach 140 years of age.
Their food is cloned and sourced from F-3500, the farming colony. Although trading also happens between the humans and planets for real food, which is highly sought after. Water is extracted from the air and purified for consumption.
There are rumours that the humans have a hidden agenda.
A large, high security prison that is home to violent members of the system. Life here is in a 6 by 6 cell, with 4 hours a day for exercise. Escape from here is nigh impossible, as most of the pods and ships are rigged with a self-detonation device in case of such a thing happens.
Breakfast is served at 7am, lunch at 12pm and dinner at 7pm. Sharp. Prisoners are strip-searched at the end of every meal, and any contraband or stolen utensils are confiscated.
- Consisting of state-of-the-art cloned food production, this farming colony using advanced cloning to produce stock, fruits, vegetables and crops for consumption in the colonies. Lower class humans from E-1009 work here daily, transported by Spacebus. There is also a highly trained team of scientists to oversee and assist in cloned food production.
- Reliant on the cloned foods from F-3500, the humans in this smaller colony do have their own water supply, and smaller apartments than E-5009. Crime here is low, but there are members of the ’Ten’oh’Niners’ live here and run the black market for this colony. They have some of the law enforcement in their pockets.
Not a very nice place to live, E-1009 is the cheapest human colony you can get, the houses are all communal housing and crime tends to run mostly unchecked here. The water supply is smaller in size, leading to rationing for both water and foods.
The ‘Ten’oh’Niners’ basically run the colony, they’re a crime syndicate who run the black market in the system and use that money to blackmail the local enforcement.
Once home to the highly populous human-race, this planet degenerated over time due to heavy pollution, war and over use of the planet's natural resources. The ocean is almost completely dried up; and it rarely rains here any more. Any rain is acidic and needs to be avoided. The ground here is dry and cracked, and the air is thick with smog and requires one to wear an oxygen supply should you wish to explore the dying planet. The animal life here is scarce, and mostly consists of large cockroaches and other hardy creatures.
In 3175, it was decided that earth was no longer habitable by humans and Colony E-5009, and the lesser colonies were revealed, the projects having been in the works for many years secretly. Those with the most wealth were the first to leave, being homed in modern apartment-style buildings inside E-5009. The middle and lower classes were shipped to the lesser colonies (E-2009 and E-1009).
A few brave souls visit earth between acidic rain storms and search the ruins and wreckage for anything salvageable. It’s a high risk job which claims many lives, but can be quite lucrative.
A very large cruise boat style ship that lazily difts throughout the system, boasting 9 levels and two large heated pools on the front deck and the roof. There's a large assortment of rooms and entertainment, each floor home to a different style.
Each floor is decadant, and representative of each planet; Earth is also included. Scantily clad women in silks, laces, and shimmering jewels strut each deck and offer their services for a quite high fee. There are also handsome young men who are also quite scantily clad, dressed in fine silks for those who prefer the company of men.
Half-breeds are located on the 8th floor, generally for half the fee and aren't as highly sought after. Holographs and fake (but highly realistic) plants allow the scenes to be set for anyone wishing to see more than the ceiling.
Troublemakers are thrown down into the lower deck, where the prison is located amongst the storage rooms. The first deck is home to the lobby, and kitchen with the meals being delivered to each dining room on each floor. As to be expected, local meals are served for each level; although special orders are accepted.

Gods and Deities
Before the Ialdor came to Cetis, they lived on a now dead and long-forgotten planet in a nearby system. The planet found itself under near constant assault from asteroids, to the point where the Ialdorian deity tore open a wormhole to Cetis for her people to travel through and survive.
Once on this new dry, hot, desolate planet, the Ialdor searched for signs of their deity but never found any. They settled on the planet and no longer worship, as they have no-one -to- worship.
The Cavr revere the giant leviathans that float through the skies. It's because of them that Dorox has never seen much war.Anyone who harms them won’t survive. When threatened, these beautiful creatures take on a terrifying change, large holes open in their skin and hundreds of vicious seahorses pour out into the skies spewing an acidic substance from their mouths.
Sung of in the many Ny'iss songs of old are the two Deities of the planet, Sik'thral and Del'nas. Said to appear in the form of astral beings the Deities are siblings who have guarded and nurtured Alege since its creation. Sik'thral, the supposed younger of the two, is the ruler of the wild animals of the planet. Del'nas, the older and wiser of the two, took it upon herself to care for the lands and forests. Sik’thral started to cause danger to the creatures the two created, Del’nas trapped him underground. Ground tremors are signs of the weakened Deity trying to break free from his prison.
They appear as slender, transparent, ghost-like humanoids who have four arms; as if they are not quite in the Plane of the living. They radiate coolness or heat, depending on their mood and their lower halves fade away into a wispy blue cloud-like substance. Del'nas' hair has the same wispy, cloud like effect.
An icy pack of four wolves roam the world, leaving massive blizzards in their wake in their hunt of the wildlife of the planet. To see them once in a lifetime is rare enough, but to see them twice is considered a blessing.
- The destruction of Earth ruined the faith of most of the survivors who moved to the colonies. Although, over the years, some may still retain some faith. They may also have transferred their faith to the Gods and Deities of the System, if they know of them.
One of the many planets in the Toriga system is not actually a planet, but rather a moon of the uninhabited gas giant Liluri. Thousands of years ago Liluri had a number of red moons in its orbit, each with its own primitive life form. Several of these moons - them being Valentia I through V - were very close to each other; almost orbiting on another themselves really.
After much time each planet slowly came into its own, persevering through their “Planets” harsh environments. They developed weapons and technology of their own and, one by one, discovered that their neighbors also had sentient creatures of their own. Valentia III and V were the first to make contact with one another, but their agreed upon alliance only lasted several months... Before Valentia IV intervened and conquered Valentia III.
Liluri's 5th moon followed quickly, and Valentia I and II soon after. All five of these moons seemed evenly matched at first glance. That is, until you look a bit deeper into the militant core of Valentia IV. Since the gaseous giant could not sustain any major species of its own, the resident god took it upon herself to spread her seed among her moons; chief among them being the five sisters planets that orbit so close to one another. After an eternity of waiting she was finally able to see what her had given birth to on her many moons, and she particularly liked the violent, destructive race of Valentia IV. With her aid, as their commanding general, Valentia IVs power was unstoppable.
All of the red moons are a harsh, brutal place to live. Covered in active volcanoes, the air is ash-filled and the ground is completely volcanic and always warm. The sound of erupting volcanoes are often heard across the planets on a daily basis.
Decades later, Valentia IV is still feared; but by planets much further away then its now* ruined sister moons. Valentia herself is pictured below.
- The denizens of Valentia IV are a tough, mean and violent group of reptilian humanoids. They appear to be half lizard half snake and worship Valentia herself. They are not known to leave their homeplanet. They run on all fours and are extremely swift.
If they disobey or question the orders given to them, their tails or other limbs are removed. One for each broken order. High treason finds them thrown into the Chasm, where vicious beasts that are harder to kill than themselves lurk. No Sst'k (Ss-tik) thrown into the Chasm have survived.
Their young are called hatchlings. The Sst'k can live up to 80, but a lot don't make it to this age due to the high volcanic activity.
