SCREAM.
PLOT:
Sundale is a quaint town situated in the outskirts of California. The town is deceptively quiet and from the outside looking in, it seems like the perfect place to raise a family. The senior's are getting ready to graduate in the next few months, with nothing more exciting than prom and summer on their minds. Everyday in Sundale is like the other, inhabitated by people who are equally mundane but friendly. So it's safe to assume that the sudden, grotesque murder of 18-year-old Lexi Smith while she was home alone sent shockwaves through the residents of what was once described as the most peaceful town in California. The urgency to catch the killer is at an all time high, but the sheriff's department really isn't any help to those who's lives are in danger. Those who serve to protect the residents of Sundale are just as useless as the residents themselves. They are used to dealing with petty crimes, not the vicious murder of one of the townspeople. With a build-up of attacks on innocent local's, it's clear that the killer is after a certain type of victim; students who stray from the conservative boundaries set up to protect them. A quick delve into the history of Sundale would reveal that such events had occured before, many years ago. It seems the town has been harboring a secret from the unsuspecting residents. Perhaps it's a copycat killer, perhaps it's someone with a vengence. Both are as equally terrifying possibilites.

CHARACTERS:
‣ THE FINAL GIRL - The Final Girl is the character, stereotypically female, that escapes death and puts an end to the killer's violent streak. She's morally pure, sweet and smart. The problem is, she's usually the one that the killer is after, whether they have a motive or not. She happens to escape the grasp of the killer on multiple occasions before there is an inevitable showdown between the two of them. She appears as the most reserved one within the group, but it's only a matter of time before she's the strongest one.
‣ THE KILLER - Needless to say that the killer, whom is usually masked, is the one that goes on a killing streak through the usually quiet, undisturbed town. They are near-indestructable. Whether they're out for revenge or have no motive, they are ruthless and will take anyone as their victim. The killer presents an idea or a value and the problem with ideas is that you can't kill them. If you think they're dead, here's a heads-up: they're probably not.
‣ THE NERD [reserved] - This character is only present due to their long-standing friendship with the Final Girl. The nerd's fascination and interest of serial killers verges on suspicious. They know the tropes and have watched one too many slasher films in their free time. Despite being less agile and fit, they're likely to survive on logic alone. Stick with them, play by the rules and you just might live.
‣ THE JOCK - The jock doesn't necessarily have to play sports, but he can be defined by his characteristics. He's attractive, narcisstic and not all that intelligent. He believes a knife-wielding serial killer is no match for him. That kind of macho attitude is usually his downfall. He is the embodiment of what men want to be and who a woman wants to be with.
‣ THE CHEERLEADER - She is the jock in female form. She is usually the final girl's best-friend and the girlfriend of the jock. She can be mean, but the fact that she's beautiful means everyone tolerates her.
‣ THE NICE GUY - He is usually the Final Girl's boyfriend and the jock's best-friend, despite the fact they are nothing alike. Their differences can play as a source of conflict. He acts as the voice of reason admist all of the unreason and unlogic. He's nice to just about everybody, but he's expendable. He can survive with the Final Girl, but he can't survive on his own.

BACKSTORY:
It was a a normal Friday night and Lexi was about to settle down on the couch to watch a movie. Her parents had headed out of town for a conference as they owned a joint business, whereas her little brother who was 5 years her junior had planned to sleep over at his best-friend's house, leaving Lexi all alone. She couldn't deny the fact she enjoyed the peace. She felt safe and comfortable enough to be alone, despite the fact the houses of Sundale were vastly far apart. There was nobody else around for miles.

With her feet propped up onto the plush couch, she curled up and turned her attention to the TV that was strung up on the wall and just about to play one of her favourites - Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Cheesy, she knew, but it was a classic. Just as the opening credits began, the unfamiliar ringing of the family phone sounded in her ears. She thought the damned thing had broken years ago. Who used a landline anymore?

Regardless of her confusion, she forced herself up and located the phone before answering it, in case it was an emergency. "Hello?" She spoke, the clear confusion laced in her voice. She leaned against the kitchen counter, twirling a strand of her long, blonde hair around her manicured finger as she waited to hear what she hoped was a familiar voice on the other end. Instead, all she heard was deep breathing. After a few moments of waiting to hear anything but the breathing, she rolled her eyes. "Hilarious." She muttered before hanging up the phone. She walked back to the living room and laid back down onto the couch, sliding the phone, which she looked at like it was ancient, onto the coffee table.

With her attention back to the movie that had started, it wasn't but ten minutes later when she heard the phone ringing again. She snatched it up from the coffee table and answered it. "Hello?" She spoke again, expectant this time to actually speak to someone. Again, all she heard was deep breathing. She assumed it was her brother who was miles away, trying to play a prank on his older sister. "You're not funny, asshole." She stated in annoyance before hanging up once more. Despite her being almost positive that it was just her brother pranking her, the phone calls had quite clearly put her on edge. She remained propped up on the couch instead of laying down, trying to focus on the movie at hand. That was until she'd heard a noise outside on the porch, followed by the sensored porch light turning on. Her heart felt like it was beating at double speed. With the adrenaline coursing through her body, she got up to investigate the noise. She'd seen enough horror films to know not to forget grabbing something to protect her, so she picked up a fire iron and made her way out onto the porch wearily. It was dark out, accompanied by the gentle breeze that made her bare legs tremble.

With the help from the porch lights, Lexi looked out into her backyard and saw nothing. With bare feet, she walked further onto the porch, leaving the sliding doors behind her as she searched for any possible signs of danger. She gripped onto the panel, her other hand firmly gripping the fire iron for protection as she walked around the corner of the porch to see if she could spot anything. She couldn't see anything out of place and turned to walk back inside when a rustling of leaves caught her attention and caused her heart to beat dangerously fast. Her grip tightened on the fire iron as she watched and waited, only to see the stray black cat walk out from the shadows. The cat, which always lingered around, brushed itself against Lexi's leg and she laughed breathlessly, shaking her head. "Don't be so paranoid, Lex." She reminded herself in an ushered whisper. She leaned down to give the cat some love before it scurried off into the night.

Lexi turned on her heel and walked back inside, closing and locking the sliding doors behind her. She had calmed down for the most part now, knowing that it was just a mere cat that she happened to be so frightened of. She walked back over to the couch and got comfortable once again, hopefully for the last time tonight. Just before she could turn her full attention to the TV in front of her, the phone began to ring again. She stared at it momentarily, debating whether or not to answer it this time. With the intention of telling her younger brother off, she grabbed the phone and answered it. Before she could even open her mouth to talk, the deep voice sounded from the other end of the line. "You shouldn't have left those doors open, Lexi."

RULES:
‣ be aware of triggers. it's a slasher rp, there will be gore and death. it doesn't have to be scripted out to the finest detail, but it will take place. there will be mature themes, but they will still follow site rules.
‣ this roleplay will take place a few days after the events of the first killing, when the characters are back at school.
‣ for character sheets, describe the character you want in whichever way you see fit and want to depict them. for example - the cheerleader could be bitchy and hysterical in dangerous situations, or she could be fiery and clear-headed. subvert or conform to the tropes of your character in whichever way you please. said character sheets will be created if this gets enough interest.
‣ only use realistic faceclaims. no anime or sketches.
‣ be relatively active. please be able to post at least once or twice a week. the more active, the better!
‣ no godmodding.
‣ use proper spelling and grammar and be some-what detailed. a paragraph or two, even more. no one-liners.
‣ if this gets enough interest, it isn't going to be on a first come first serve basis. it will be on a basis of whom fits their preferred role the best.
‣ yes, this idea is inspired from one of the best slasher/horror films ever created by the legend himself wes craven. no, it won't follow the same storyline. there will be no affiliation to scream.
‣ most importantly, have fun!
