Play On Words
Musical Goddess
Dark colors invade your sight as you walk through the door. The floor is maroon, the walls black, the tables blood red. The lights are dim, and the creatures walking around are nothing short of a fantasy. Sanguine, the club in New Orleans for those with one step among the living and one step among the dead. Vampires. Many of them are still hidden from the public, Sanguine being one of the few places they can be themselves without fear of retribution. They can feed on willing humans, make relations with other Vampires, even grovel at the feet of one of the oldest and most powerful Vampires alive, Sebastion Bates, the owner of Sanguine.
Vampires aren't the only creatures to walk around with humans. Werewolves, also known as Lycans, also exist, along with other little known species, including Witches. There is a coven of Witches and a pack of Werewolves in the area around Sanguine.
This roleplay will follow interactions between Vampires, Lycans, Witches, regular humans, those known as Escorts(Humans who choose to spend time with Vampires, particularly enjoying being fed upon), and hunters of the supernatural, oftentimes human. The lore will be derived from several fandoms including TrueBlood and the Vampire Diaries along with my own mind, suggestions are welcome.
Vampire Lore and Abilities-
They do not burn in the sunlight unless they are incredibly young, less than a decade a Vampire. After that, they merely become quite weak, some almost a human-like strength. Some, less than a thousand across the world, have used Witches to create jewelry, often a ring, to protect them from said weakness, and have no negative effects from the sunlight.
To kill a Vampire, a wooden stake to the heart, decapitation, or removal of the heart will work. An herb called vervain, incredibly rare, is used to weaken them. It's similar to acid when it comes in contact with Vampires, and when injected into their bloodstream, it renders them unconscious for several hours and keeps them weak when they wake up. Snapping their necks will also knock them out for a couple hours.
Usually, their fangs are hidden, but around blood or during intimate moments, their fangs will grow into visibility. With some of the Undead, this can also be accompanied by certain features in their body undergoing change, such as the veins under their eyes blackening, their irises turning black/red, or other changes.
Their healing is quick, but not immediate. The longer it's been since they've fed, the slower it takes them to heal. If they're shot with wooden bullets, the splinters must be removed before the wound will close. Wooden bullets are the same as a wooden stake, if it hits the heart, they'll die. If a Vampire doesn't feed for several days, their skin begins to shrink and dry, turning grey, which is called desiccation.
When a Vampire dies, it's similar to desiccation, but much faster. Their skin turns a dull grey, every vein becomes protruded slightly, which spreads from their feet upward to their head.
Mind control is called multiple things, including Compulsion, Hypnotism, or Glamouring. It only works on humans. If the human is wearing vervain or has ingested it within a day before such mind control, it will have no effect on the,. An incredibly strong willed human can throw off the effects of Compulsion, but it often takes not only decades of work but incredible self control, very few people can manage it.
To turn a person into a Vampire, a Vampire must feed a human their blood and then kill them. The person will wake up after being killed, and must ingest human blood within 24 hours, or they will die permanently. The transition period is filled with headaches, sensitivity to light, and illness, Any Compulsion that has ever been done to said person will be undone, so any forgotten memories will be remembered, any commands can be ignored.
Vampires rarely live past 300 due to grudges against others of their kind, Hunters, or other altercations. It is possible, and several do, but it's not common.
Werewolf Lore and Abilities -
Werewolves turn only during the full moon, they cannot resist it or turn at will. To turn, every bone in their body must break, an incredibly painful process. To trigger their curse, the Werewolf must kill a person. The Werewolf gene often runs in bloodlines, father to son, mother to daughter, parent to child. It's accompanied by slightly heightened strength, speed, and temper, even before it's triggered or while in their human form.
When they are turned, Werewolves resemble regular wolves, but most have glowing yellow eyes. Often, their fur is the same color as their hair as a human, but not always.
Similar to vervain with Vampires, wolfsbane, also known as aconite, is similar to acid to Werewolves, human or wolf form. It burns their skin, can knock them out if ingested, and is generally avoided by the species.
They do have accelerated healing, but their strength and speed is no match for a Vampire while in human form.
The bite of a Werewolf while turned is fatal to Vampires. It will not heal, and kills them within two days, generally accompanied by weakness, illness, coughing up blood, and hallucinations. The cure is not known by many people, none of which are charitable enough to spread such information.
Witch Lore and Abilities -
Witches are the most human of all supernatural creatures. They are human in every way except for the fact that they have a much stronger relationship to what they call the 'Spirits,' or those who provide them with the ability to do magic. Witches also run in bloodlines, several of such bloodlines being more well known than others.
Most Vampires, especially older ones, keep at least one Witch in their company, just in case.
Witches do have limits. Any spell that is too powerful will at first cause a nosebleed, and then unconsciousness. Too much usage of magic, especially without proper practice, can cause a Witch to die.
If a Witch causes an imbalance in nature, the Spirits will revoke their magic, and they may permanently lose it. An imbalance is usually bringing someone back from the dead, but it can be anything.
Witches are resistant to Compulsion and all other forms of mind control.
Contrary to popular belief, Witches can be male or female, there is no discrimination.
This is a more detailed roleplay, so I'll need people who are able to keep up and be willing to add to the plot.
