Fantasy sacrificing nothing | private

What could have been formerly classified as a fear of others was no longer just that. Mason's anxieties had manifested to take on various forms, but they had eased just slightly with the stability of his job. Was it ethical? God no. But things like that were inevitable at this point. Wanting to isolate himself from his failed path onto being a biologist, Mason had taken the first thing tossed his way. Now, he was coming to regret that decision.

Often times he felt on edge. After being sent on another chase to find and apprehend whatever creatures had been caught living in the woods just north of town, Mason had come to the realization that he wasn't sure how long he could do this. Killing was horrific. He wasn't a coward- he didn't want to call himself that- who didn't know what he was doing. He had known all along. It just stung whenever he realized it. A reintroduction to his horrible acts. Again and again and again. He couldn't really bring himself to count how many successful kills had occurred as a result of him working. So he didn't even try.

That was how he had ended up at a new destination, another place that he was told had a vampire. Somewhere he hadn't been before. Mason felt sick to his stomach at the realization that he had to do it all over again. He had everything he needed. Mason wasn't stupid, he was often well prepared for things like this. There was something that madde him feel hesitant though. As he crept towards the building that the head of the organization had insisted housed at least three vampires. It looked like it hadn't been touched in ages though. He had leaned forward, testing the door knob. Unlocked. Mason hesitantly twisted it all the way, pushing the door open quietly. The lights were off, maybe there weren't even lights.

He bit his tongue, not wanting to risk letting out a cautionary: "Hello?" This wasn't his first time on a jb. He wasn't stupid, but it always had felt so invasive to just break into someone's home and not give some kind of warning. Guilt washed over him for a moment, but he pushed forward, walking down the hallway before him.
