Kalina, having tunnel vision focus on the old witch in front of her, was confused. She felt like she'd gotten stronger, but her attacks against this witch suggested none of it. “I don't care who caused what. All I know is that you don't deserve to be around a second longer.” She replied, anger flashing in her eyes. This woman, dead or undead or whatever she was, was far past her expiration date. Besides, she was wrong. “Renee won't betray me, she's nothing like you.”

As Marizopa blocked Kalina's attack with her hand, or rather, a barrier within it. “Your inbound death.” That's all she cared to see happen right now. As she got back up and to the witch, she yelled over at the others. “We can get her if we strike together!” She called out. She followed it up with a normal attack towards the witches head again, yet would quickly follow-op with a Precision Strike E at the witches' torso, hoping to throw her off with a weaker first attack to hit her with the main second one.

Skyhunter Skyhunter The Last Curse The Last Curse Elvario Elvario

Unfortunately for Iberis she didn't have the luxury of having tunnel vision in that moment, while yes every fiber of her being harbored a hatred for Marizopa since as far as she was concerned it was all her fault they were in this mess. She could have still been happy enough with Renee, Hope, Scylla and Kalina if it wasn't for her causing Renee to have the desire to go there. She quickly found herself getting knocked hard, but for some reason as much as it had hurt, with that much force she was much less effected than she would have thought, a strike like that could have knocked her out as it was comparable to a boxer throwing a well placed uppercut and then some, even as her jaw and teeth hurt it didn't seem like she broke any thankfully. She did hear Scylla call out and fire her valley of fire arrows not long after only for them to be prevented from hitting their targets.

She didn't hear the conversation that had been ongoing with Hope and Renee during all of the action. Of course Iberis was rather shocked when she noticed Hope had been flung against against the wall with a hole in her caused by magic, and she saw Renee approaching this could only mean one thing. So this was it wasn't it? From Iberis's perspective she hadn't been trying to do the things that Renee claimed since all she had wanted to do intially was threaten Auldlich and see if she could get the infomration out of him having no idea the ritual would take place. As a result in her mind, It was simply the voices that had been correct back in that realm and he had ben right, all the others had been right too, Renee was going to betray them.

When Iberis managed to steady herself on her feet and recover, She looked towards Marizopa, the very same look of killing intent she had before but this time a grin was on her face, after hearing what Marizopa had to say. If one looked closely they could perhaps see a few more tears coming down Iberis's now arguably disturbing face, the very visage she had shown to those who had tormented her back at the orphanage as she spoke in a very ominous way "You're half right Marizopa."

She then thought to herself focusing on Auldlich's image, mentally speaking I finally understand, you were right all along, Renee is no different than Marizopa, I can feel you here, let me be your catalyst, master, let me serve as your catalyst, the tool of your revenge and their destruction, I'll make Marizopa pay for crossing you and the others just like I made them pay all those years ago, lend me your power, use my body in this moment I'm ready to accept what comes my way.
As much as it pained Iberis to say this to him mentally initially the darkness was consuming her, She had thought of Renee as family initially, never mind a teacher but her discarding Hope just like she was nothing to her was the last straw. She knew then and there despite her efforts there was no turning Renee back. The fact that Renee wouldn't attack her master with them all confirmed it. Renee was no longer Iberis's master but someone to be eliminated.

She then looked at Marizopa with a focused glare intentionally, knowing that Renee was watching, tapping into Deception F to make her intention to attack Marizopa alone look more genuine, as she started doing her zig zag staff gesture to cast Energy Bolt, Before at the last moment she pivoted into the more powerful D grade Energy Stream attack, quickly shifting her staff around in a circular motion directing it right at Renee in order to catch her off guard! Iberis hoped to hone whatever power Auldlich could use through her, given her younger and magically gifted form, it would hopefully be advantageous to him. After that gesture regardless of what happened she shifted a full force genuine Energy Bolt , completing the motion toward Marizopa, with the full intent to try to do as much damage as possible in both cases. Now it was kill or be killed and Iberis had no plans of letting Renee have her way now.

Summary:

1. After recovering quickly due to Necrotic energy and becoming unhinged once again with paranoia and feeling betrayed, invite Audlich to use her fully in that moment as her catalyst, Using Deception F, fake like she is going to attack Marizopa with the others by using a barely incomplete energy Bolt staff gesture, before pivoting into a genuine more powerful Energy Stream Attack targeted at Renee's heart with everything she's got.

2. Then pivot back into a genuine completed full force Energy Bolt attack at Marizopa.

Energy Bolt- Magic Affinity E Arcane Affinity F, Magic Range F, Magic Targeting F, Energized E, Focus E -A more refined more powerful variation of Mana strike, Iberis sends forth a bolt of energy to strike a single target up to 10 ft away. Grade E - 0 Post Cooldown (Energized)

Energy Stream- Magic Affinity D, Arcane Affinity F, Magic Range E, Magic Targeting F, Energized D,Focus D- A more focused advanced attack than a simple Mana strike, Iberis focuses a red concentrated beam of energy from her staff to use offensively against a target up to 30 ft away,- Grade D - 1 Post Cooldown (Energized)

Hope couldn't believe it, eyes wobbling as the dreadful truth was poured out before her. The old lady was right. Renee didn't care about her - Renee didn't care about anyone. She'd been played. All this time, there was no bond, no sense of fellowship, not even a shred of sympathy. Renee was never her friend to begin with. Hope shook her head, desperately fighting the hot tears in her eyes. It couldn't have been true. This had to be some trick! What about those re-affirming words? And that lecture? And the whole goddamn journey? That had to come from somewhere, right? Maybe Renee was just unaware. She just needed to know how much she was cared for. The idea didn't take long to pop into her head. She knew what to do next. Just one simple gesture would solve everything. It had to.

But as soon as Hope leaned in, arms outstretched, she felt something poke into her stomach. She looked down at Renee's fingers. Then she met Renee's gaze; nothing. And there was still nothing as agony rippled throughout her body. And as she flew away, a scream erupting from her constricting throat, she could only be sure of one thing. There would always be nothing.

She didn't feel herself slam into the wall. Every muscle in her body felt like it was on fire. And yet, there was still this pervading coolness - slowly encroaching, smothering. Then there were voices. Kalina's, Scylla's, Marziopa's, and one more she didn't recognize. It gave her a demand, and she ignored it. What would be the point? It wouldn't work. Nothing she tried did. It only got her into more problems. Problems she'd need the others to pull her out of. But maybe it wouldn't have to be that way anymore. Maybe there was a way they'd never have to worry about her again. The answer was so simple.

Hope turned her head, eyes drearily observing the coven's battle. She saw Renee start to approach them and let the tears finally flow. Renee would do the same thing to them, too. Without mercy. To her own sister, to a child. And she wouldn't be able to do anything. The thought made more iridescent tears run down Hope's face. They didn't deserve this. After everything, this couldn't have been how it ended for them. They deserved to be free. They deserved to be happy.

And Renee was in the way of that.

Hope felt something bloom within, her hands slowly closing into fists. Maybe there was still hope. Maybe she could try one more thing.

Shadows gathered under her as she channeled her magic, twisting them into large tentacles that shot out at Renee, attempting to tangle her with [Umbral Grasp - E]. In her hand, the shadows coalesced with chaos, morphing into [Detainment - D] that flew screaming at both Renee and Marziopa. Hope watched silently. There was nothing else she could do.

  • [Detainment] - Chaos Affinity F + Magic D + Magic Range E + Magic Targets E + Energized E + Selective Magic E + Homing F + Tangle F + Continuing F - Hope sends forth a flurry of homing iridescent projectiles that ensnares a target in a strange, adhesive substance that continuously damages them. With Renee walking towards the rest of the group, thinking she had finished Hope off in one shot, she wasn't expecting her to still be alive. This madness had to end. She needed them all dead then the book would be hers. None of them would stand in her way. She had allowed them all to continue being obstacles in her path, in her path towards destiny. Towards her destiny. And it only led to the downfall of her ultimate goal. No longer would she be bound by the plight of emotion and attachment any longer. She had wished this came sooner. Now to kill them all in the same place Dahak was supposed to be killed in originally. It all came full circle to her first true lie. Allowing Dahak to live. Her eyes stared at Iberis as she came to see what had just happened, Renee knew she was faster than her own apprentice. She knew Iberis' weaknesses, but it was mainly because it was something she had never seen before. Renee's spell was beginning to cast as she had leaned forward while her hand glowed brightly with inferno, only for a dark shadow to touch and entangle Renee, her eyes widen at the sudden constriction, she could feel the tentacles surround her body and limbs before bringing her down to a knee. " No! " Renee gasped with shock, her eyes suddenly awoke again, this time with fury.

Renee's head twisted to look at Hope, seeing the Shadow Fae barely alive, even after using one of her strongest attacks on her, she still lived. Did that show how weak Renee was or how tenacious Hope was? Renee's head darted back to Iberis who was already casted her spell at Renee, she was about to take a strong attack from her apprentice. Seeing Iberis, Renee noticed a dark figure standing behind Iberis and it wasn't Auldlich, it was something more, something more powerful? What was this thing doing? She couldn't see its features, and it seemed no one else had noticed it. Renee did her best to try and move in the constraints that had immobilized her. Moving her arm and trying to turn her body. Iberis' Energy Stream came rolling forth towards the witch as she was able to barely turn and cover herself. The magic would collide with her as she braced herself, it burst with a red wave of magic as Renee was thrown out of the constraints and backwards, letting out a painfilled cry of agony, Renee laid on the ground as she had taken the hit to her chest, she coughed a bit of blood, gently placing a hand on her chest before looking up at Iberis, her eyes full of fury and pain as she began to slowly get back up. Blood dripped from the sides of her lips. Renee took a deep breath as she gritted her bloodied teeth and begin to cast a spell of her own.

Scylla would notice what Iberis was doing, turning to see that she had struck Renee. " Iberis! WHAT ARE YOU DOING! " She cried out in horror seeing her master, " We should be attacking the weird old lady witch! Not each other! Hope, please help- " She stopped talking once she saw that Hope was laying against the wall with a hole in her stomach, signs of electricity on Hope, from the burn marks to the smell, even seeing small snippets of blue electricity surging on Hope. " H-Hope... " Scylla's eyes widened as tears began to form in her eyes. Iberis would notice a small sun appear behind Scylla out of nowhere, noticing a warm then hot sensation behind herself as well, looking to Renee she would see Renee's hand on the ground with fire roaring from around it, her eyes staring into hers as she was smiling evilly.

As Kalina had gone to attack Marizopa who was laughing at her attempts, the old hag would feel something grasp her body and limbs, although she was proficient in magic and was able to quickly dispel this containment magic, it was enough time for Kalina to strike the hag, but instead her attack would be blocked once more by the barrier that had once blocked Kalina's attack, although her attack barely pierced and cracked this strong magic. Marizopa was sweating a bit as the battle raged on, although she would then feel the incoming attack of magic coming towards her, having to turn to dispel it quickly, Iberis' Energy Bolt was dispelled quite easily like it she had merely slapped it away before turning back to Kalin a only to truly have no time to block or cast a barrier. Kalina's Rapier simply flew through the old hag as her weapon tasted blood once more. The hag's eyes widen for a moment as she felt Kalina's weapon pierce her lung, just beside her heart. Marizopa smiled at the vampire with bloodied teeth as Marizopa grabbed Kalina by her hand and pulled her in closer, not allowing her to pull her weapon out, Marizopa's other hand grabbed Kalina by her neck, pushing her backwards and upwards, " You will not be allowed to- " Marizopa's eyes had widen as she could feel this immense heat on her back, seeing a small sun form behind Kalina just as the vampire saw the same thing behind Kalina. " You dirty little whore. " Marizopa whispered looking over to the rest of the fighting, she would see Renee had casted her spell into the floor while wearing a bloodied smile on her face, eyes full of darkness.

Renee had casted a spell made of fire, using her teleportation magic to create a giant fireball behind each of them, one was behind Iberis, Scylla, Marizopa and Kalina. [Magic Affinity C, Energized C, Fire Affinity D, Magic Targets D, Ranged Magic D, Teleportation E - Cooldown 2 Posts (Energized)] Renee smirked as each fireball then exploded behind each of her targets. Although Marizopa was able to dispel one fireball, choosing the fireball behind herself on a quick decision. Iberis, Scylla and Kalina would each be blasted forward with a powerful torrent of flames to accompany them. Each of them would each feel painful burns on their persons. Iberis and Scylla had each had their entire backs and legs scorched down to their flesh, the immense pain and burning was overwhelming, luckily Iberis wouldn't feel much in her grafted leg and could move it but the burns still hurt. Kalina had only stabbed Marizopa deeper as she was flung forward into the old hag. Kalina would find herself on the floor as well, her back to her feet scorched down to her flesh and bones. She would see Marizopa next to her slowly breathing as the rapier was stuck in her chest, she was slowly dying while holding the weapon, her eyes looked up at the ceiling. She was trying to speak but couldn't, Kalina would see that her rapier had jagged to the side, most likely piercing or slashing her heart when she was blasted forward into the hag. The smell of burning flesh was overwhelming, smoke momentarily filled the air as a figure was slowly limping forward towards the group. It was Renee, she held where Iberis had striked her, her eyes were cold and uncaring, blood on the sides of her mouth as she winced with each step.

The witch was looking around, not at her companions but like she was searching for something. She was looking for the destroyed book. Hoping to find any semblance of it and see if she can restore it. The witch was groaning quietly, she was most likely having internal bleeding from being attacked by Iberis who had hit her with a critical shot to the chest. " Where is it... Where is the book? " Renee asked quietly, thinking she had eliminated everyone with her strong attack, her eyes looked somewhat worried, like she had seen something, something powerful. Passing Scylla who was unconscious, she was gently breathing but it was shallow. Hope could only watch in horror at what Renee had done. How she blew everyone down like they were enemies, no, like they were less then enemies. Like they were cattle. Kalina would be able to barely move, she could probably get a good strike in on Renee when she got close enough who was desperately looking around for the book.

Hope would begin to drift away into the good night, she would feel a hand on her shoulder. " Have you done enough, Hope? Do you feel content with what had just happened? " The voice quietly spoke to her. " You need to get up and end this madness, Hope. " She would open her eyes and see two dark figures standing in front of her, watching the chaos that was unravelling before them. One of these shadowy figures looked to Hope, " Get up, Hope. Stop her or you will all day. " One of them pointed right at her where she would feel a vigorous pump of adrenaline course through her. Able to freely move once more, she still had this hole in her stomach, but she would feel like she could do anything.

A monstrous smile adorned her face when she finally managed to hit the old lady. If Marizopa was in any way shape or form susceptible, the [Continuing] in Kalina's attack would spread her own Vampiric Infection through Marizopa's veins as if it were a poison, continuing to wreak havoc on the old woman's body from the inside. When Kalina was pulled in closer by the smiling witch, she could only return the smile and spoke in monster. “[You're already allowing me too.]” She managed to verbalise, even though her neck had been grabbed, as she knew that her weapon penetrating this witches' body was enough to really hurt her, both due to the vampiric infection and the contagion. She was almost feeling an odd type of excitement being in this position, perhaps once again having her monstrous side grab a hold of her.

That's when she felt the sudden burning of fire behind her, seeing the same thing happen to everyone. What was going on? She wasn't sure. What she was sure off, however, was that her back was burned thoroughly. She'd been blasted into Marizopa, he rapier still stuck in the witches' flesh. It could stay there and keep spreading its Vampiric Infection into the hag's wound. Kalina was in a lot of pain again, unable to think clearly as smoke filled her unliving lungs and her back hurt more than she'd ever imagined something hurting.

She suddenly noticed Renee limping. Had someone managed to hurt her sister? That was unacceptable. Her sister couldn't regenerate like her! Worry filled her mind. Kalina struggled to get up, using all of her willpower to fight through the pain, then started to drag herself towards Renee. She could hear her sister mumble about the book. It was that blasted book. Always that blasted book! “Renee, it's okay, calm down. The book is gone, it no longer has a hold over you, you're free again. Please, just banish its corruptive influence from your mind. You're stronger than some dusty old tome!” She pleaded, worried more about her sister's mental and physical state than about herself. “You're wounded, you should stay still so it doesn't get worse. Your old master is also defeated, so even she can't influence you now.”

She needed to convince her sister to let go of this stupid book. “You don't need the book, I swear I'll find another way to help you become immortal. I'll make you a vampire as well! You'd be able to stay young, like me, we could live together for eternity! Or we can find someone with strong enough healing magic to de-age you, or... or we can find something else! You don't need this book or realm to obtain your goals, so please, just snap out of it. You're stronger than this!” She kept pleading, hoping to have her sister snap back to her old self, the Renee she'd met over ten years ago, the one who'd given her so much blood to feed on that she'd jokingly said they were like blood-related sisters now. A joke that had quickly turned into how she truly felt about Renee. That Renee had to still be in there, right? It had to. It couldn't have vanished, it just needed to be brought out again. That was all. Get rid of the last traces of the books influence on Renee, then bring back the old Renee. Yes. That was all.

Iberis felt a sense of anticipation as her beam went forwards, an d she saw that Hope's restraints gripped onto Renee just as she was about to counter cast. Iberis knew very well that Renee could have killed them then and there had that cast been allowed to go through. Renee should have expected what was coming in that moment. Of course there was deep confliction within that she was quite literally attacking not only her master but someone who she considered family, but with the help of whatever was on her side and her dark side flaring out she was managing to surpress it all well enough to take action against Renee. Iberis only continued to grin when she heard Renee call out no. She was going to teach Renee what happened when someone used her for their own gain. Even after all of the times that Iberis had spared Renee, when she could have finished her off, and this was what Iberis was repaid with for showing mercy?

She had no idea what rhetoric Renee was spreading about her but she would have completely disagreed. Iberis had no idea that Auldlich was going to sacrifice her leg to give her the knowledge she wanted, she thought she could negotiate his life for the knowledge and instead she was left with this. It was also presumptuous that Iberis had wanted to leave the coven or that she was going to cease working with Renee after the fact. She had yet again tried to extend a metaphorical hand to Renee of peace and this was what they got, a severely injured Hope and a Renee who was clearly intent on killing all of them herself.

She heard Scylla calling out to her questioning why she had done it, normally this would have pained her but that only thing she felt was numbness.. After all Iberis was a child soldier of sorts in utilization to Renee. She didn't really have time to respond ot Scylla as she saw the back and forth between Marizopa and Kalina, of course her better spell had been immediately dispelled. At least she understood Scylla finally understood what had happened to Hope probably, based on that reaction.

Had she been able to see better what Renee had been casting in response maybe Iberis could have responded better, instead she saw the grievous wound inflicted onto Marizopa by Kalina, had it been over more it would have been completely fatal, but instead they were left with two still very much alive powerful casters, Iberis would need to hit her again, but before she could even consider it, suddenly there was a large glow and before she knew it she was being seared and it was like agony for a moment as the majority of her had just been very burned from grade of the spell. Iberis wasn't even sure if she could see straight in that moment. Despite the pain which felt no worse than Renee deciding to make the ultimate betrayal was, She was still conscious, whether it was because of what ever entity was behind her or Auldlich or Necrotic energy who knew.

The good news was Marizopa was dead now, as Iberis managed to look that general direction and thankfully her catalyst hadn't been targeted, as she crawled her way over towards it to use it to right herself upright despite the pain. It wasn't long before Iberis looked at Renee who was looking for the book and she saw Renee still looking for it ,despite the fact that it had been destroyed, then there was the fact that Kalina started talking as if there was going back from this.

She was slumped using it for support, looking at Renee. So, Renee, tell me how does it feel to die all alone?" It was looking and sounding like Iberis was at the point where she was sounding rather unwell from all that had transpired.

"You probably just killed Scylla, but you don't care do you?, just like you tried to mow down Hope.." She paused,

"Kalina still considers you her sister, but what she doesn't know is that her sister died a long time ago..." She'd wince some from the pain.

"You've been like the family I never had, Renee, and I wanted to do so many more things with you and learn so much more from you..I thought together we were going to be unstoppable."

"And yet they all warned me and I just couldn't believe it, I'm just..really sorry it had to come to this." She said more softly, with a much sadder edge, some more tears coming. She was going through a full range of emotions during her speech. It was even harder for her now, seeing up close just how badly she had wounded Renee even if it had been necessary, the full realization hitting her that Renee was probably going to die in this place one way or another. Iberis wasn't in the headspace where she was going to attack Renee again. It was up to Hope to make a pivotal decision.

It should've been enough, Hope kept telling herself. Her spells, Iberis' spells - it should've ended it. This nightmare should have been over. But as her eyes painfully swept over to Scylla, lips desperately trying to warn her, warmth enveloped her face. "Scylla...No! Get away-" Hope's voice shattered as a massive explosion rocketed smoke into her eyes, stinging them shut. Three more sounded around her, each making her feel smaller and smaller. She'd failed to protect them. She knew she shouldn't have done anything. It would've been so much easier to just give up.

But then the voices were back. Hope tried to ignore them again, closing her eyes tighter. They weren't real. She was just going crazy; it was all inside her head. It had to be. "Go away..." Her eyes quivered as a phantom hand rested on her shoulder, "Leave me alone. Can't you just let me..." Hope paused, the words stopping on her tongue as a new sensation flowed throughout her body, sapping away the pain. Her eyes shot open, finally landing upon the two shadowy figures in front of her. She tried getting up, and it was surprisingly easy. "What did you do?" Hope peered down at her hands, clenching and unclenching them in renewed vigor. It felt exhilarating. Just like how it felt to annihilate those ruthless monsters. Just like how it would feel to annihilate one more. "No, I get it now. Thank you. I won't let it go to waste."

In her peripherals, Hope saw the injured forms of Kalina, Scylla, and Iberis. Alive, thankfully, but she heard them talking, apologizing, pleading. To Renee. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Did they not see what had happened? Did they not know she'd done to them? Renee tried to kill them. And she'd do it again. She wasn't the friend, mentor, or sister they once knew. Not anymore. She was a backstabber, a liar, a monster. And monsters like her needed to be killed for everyone's safety. That was the one thing she taught her.

"Kalina, Iberis, Listen!" Hope cried, stumbling forward, a hand displaying the hole in her abdomen, "Look at me. Look at yourselves. Look at what she did to us. And for what? What did we do to deserve this?" Her hands balled into fists, trembling in anger, "Nothing! All we've done is try to help her - try to live up to her standards, but it was never enough. She never cared! We're just... goddamn puppets to her!" Hope screamed, tears streaming down her face, "Everything was a lie. She used us all. She knew we cared, and she used us. It was never the book. It was never me, and it was never you. It was all her. THIS is her."

Barely able to whisper the words to her spell, Hope held out her palm, creating a dark ball of destructive [Anarchy - E]. "Tell me, would a person who loves you try to hurt you so much? Would a person who 'cares' not even shed a single tear at the thought of killing their own sister...?"

Hope didn't wait for an answer, launching the ball of magic at Renee. She didn't care what they thought. This would keep them safe. This was what was best for them.

Renee continued limping forth, " Come on... I'm so close... " She whispered to herself with a grimace on her face. She was in fact very close to achieving her dream, her goals and aspirations. Whatever you want to call it, it didn't matter to this witch. Wouldn't matter if she acquired the book. She would succeed where her master failed. She had killed all of her fellow Coven members and her own sister. This was worth the price. She had sacrificed them all for her goal. She had won. Renee smelled the burnt flesh that lingered in the air. Renee saw the book finally, her eyes lit up like a loving mother seeing her child. It laid on the floor in a destroyed state, she took a couple steps forward as a smile formed on her face then the voices came. Renee stopped looking down to Kalina speaking to her, pleading to her to leave the book, to let it go. She could give her the immortality she was looking for, turn her into a vampire! But that wasn't enough... Not anymore. She wanted to become a God now. Seeing what her master was, seeing her as an unseeable entity that had complete control over her own world.

Kalina's offers and pleas either fell onto deaf ears or Renee dismissed them, although her face was one of surprise, she had thought that fireball would have killed Kalina. " No. I'm here already. I am close to discovering the real secrets to life and death, to ascend. Why would I want to be a mere vampire that offers me nothing. " That last word was filled with venom and rancor. " I want Godhood. Not to become a weak walking corpse. " Renee stated, " You are weak, your offers weaker. " Renee's voice raised in the empty chamber, echoing off of the walls as the sound repeated itself for it to sink into Kalina's mind, Renee revealed who she either was or has become. This wasn't the same girl Kalina had met a long time ago in that dilapidated chapel all those years ago. This was Renee: a traitor, a sacrificial witch, evil. " You have nothing that the book can offer. Your sisterhood is mute. Your existence, even less. Go find your bug. If you can before I drag her into my new realm and show her the true meaning of pain and fear. " Renee's eyes were full of resentment while she clenched her fists in rage.

Iberis' words would then rake in Renee's ears, although it wasn't what she was saying, it was the fact that she was saying anything. She lived too!? Was she that weak!? Iberis was a weak witch, her own power trumps that of Iberis'! Although instead of surprise or shock, it was anger as she snapped her head to see Iberis on the ground. It was where she belonged, the Judas! Renee's eyes flared with rage and hatred, " You have no room to talk, Judas, we stopped being family when you gave yourself up to your new undead master. " Renee growled lowly through gritted teeth. " You have no room to speak on what family is. " Renee glared at Iberis as she stood up straight, standing above Iberis. " I sought out my own power. I resent you. All of you. " Renee roared as her anger rose through her throat, pointing her hand out at Iberis, electricity sparked from her fingers as strings of blue flashed and began to cook Iberis. She would feel the immense pain Renee inflicted on her, when she looked at the witch, Renee had a sadistic smile on her face, her widened eyes were still empty despite having them being lit up from the flashes her magic was producing.

Renee's head turned to the figure of Kalina, wearing the same expression, while she raised her other hand, pointing her fingers out as they ignited with the same electricity that was frying and killing Iberis. Kalina would get a taste of the same amount of pain Iberis was experiencing, Renee had revealed who she truly was now. She was a monster. A husk of who she once was. The symbol of evil. The true Judas. Kalina and Iberis would flail in pain despite not even moving, whether it was instinct or the electricity causing them to flail about would be up to them if they survived this. The two wouldn't be able to move in this state of pain. Their visions would darken, the pain would begin to subside and their hearing began to quiet down.

Through either her own madness or the sounds of screaming and pain from both Iberis and Kalina or even the enjoyment she was garnering from spreading pain and torture, Renee could not hear Hope's own tirade about her. Although what Hope did not know was that the shadowy beings were standing with Hope, their power spreading to Hope as her next attack would only amplify in power. Hope's [Anarchy] would fly from her palm straight at Renee's back, a etch of her profound smile could be seen by Hope, she would know what she was doing was the right thing. Someone this crazy did not deserve to gain the power of a God. She didn't deserve a family to have. She didn't deserve to live. Although just as Hope's orb of darkness left her palm, Renee's eye snapped to look at Hope as she released her magic. What was this look in Renee's eye? Was it regret? Hatred? Anger? Shock? Relief? Fear? Was she next? It was impossible to say with how crazy she was. It wouldn't be a question that got an answer. It would haunt Hope in her dreams and nightmares. The vicious smile she wore on her face. She wasn't human, not anymore.

Renee released her lightning and quickly turned to face Hope to get another attack off, but it would be hopeless. The chaos orb would slam into Renee while she was in the middle of turning, flying into her like a truck. Renee would feel the power it had in it, she knew Hope wasn't capable of wielding this power. There was no way! Was she better than her!? Renee flew far through the chamber they laid in and slammed into the wall, indenting it while massive cracks appeared around the point of impact. The witch would slump slowly onto the cold lonely floor. She slowly blinked and tried to say something, only for blood to pour from her mouth and nose, she coughed while she fell over onto the ground, her eyes stared ahead of her. At her attacker, seeing Hope. And the two figures that stood beside her on each side. Did she know of the two evils beside her? Did any of them see them? Renee slowly breathed in and out, raspy as they were becoming, her entire body was broken. Bones were broken, she couldn't even move. Only twitch while she stared at the book now, that damn book that called to her. Renee tried moving towards it. It had the answers! It could save her! She just needed to move! To no avail. She had been permanently paralyzed.

Hope would finally succumb to her injuries, falling over from exhaustion and pain while the adrenaline and burst of energy she felt had disappeared as instantly as it had come. Beside Hope two figures would come into reality. A female and male would make their presence known. " They have killed one another. " The male spoke like he commanded the skies; his voice was booming. " So, it seems. An unfortunate fate that had been changed. One that was previously changed. " The female spoke like a raspy whisper. " They all are victims in this. All but for two. " The regal looking figure stated, he lifted a boney hand up into the air where the book, the Codexius Chaoxius, floated into the air then flew through the air into the hand of this massive being. The book, as soon as it landed into the hand of this mysterious being, restored itself into its original form. The book flew open in an instant as it flipped rapidly through pages and stopped on one with the images of skulls and souls. The figure gently tapped his staff on the ground where the book reacted and released four orbs into the air. Each of them flew towards the four that were trying to prevent chaos from happening. From the World potentially ending. Preventing the End Times.

1679367611273.png1679367629401.png

The four orbs flew into Hope, Scylla, Iberis and Kalina. Their bodies were rejuvenated to their original selves, completely healed and their souls restored. All of them but Scylla would awake seeing the two figures standing there with this book in their hands. " Greetings, Saviors. You have saved the world from the End Times happening. " The woman spoke while she wore a smile on her face, she had a long finger on the side of her face. " You have done a thankless job for this world. " She continued. " Allow us to introduce ourselves, Saviors. I am Rosan Bulvark. And this is my lover, Ryke Bulvark. " She spoke. " The original King and Queen of this country. Before we were uprooted and usurped. " Rosan finished. " Before you do anything rash, know we do not intend to use this book to bring an Armageddon into this world. We are using this book to leave this plane of existence and keep this book safe. We have brought you all back to life. And to deal with the one that had created this massive problem for you. " Ryke thundered as his dead gaze looked over to Renee who was still trying to move, her eyes were hopeless. She looked like a broken mess. " But ours to deal with is the Witch, Marizopa. " Who was still alive during all this. She was barely alive. Rosan snapped her fingers that created an eerie echo, a dark fog came from the other side of the room and stopped just behind the two. Through the fog walked a legion of undead. Zombies and skeletons all dressed in knight armor and wielding weapons. Through this legion walked a massive golden figure, not as tall as Ryke but he was still big. It was Naberius. The following him was a bishop like figure that was Auldlich. When they came up to the King and Queen, they both got onto one knee and kneeled while bowing their heads. " Your Majesties. " The two spoke in unison. " Please acquire Marizopa, be sure to restore her to life. " Rosan spoke. The two stood then walked ahead of them towards Kalina, Auldlich passed by Iberis and looked at her before giving a smile and nod then turned to look ahead. The two moved to Marizopa who was barely on the cusp of life. Naberius grabbed the rapier in her body and pulled it out before tossing it down at Kalina while he looked down at her, even though Kalina couldn't see his face or eyes, he was staring at her. Almost like he was challenging her.

Auldlich used his dark magics and restored Marizopa to life. Her eyes slowly opened, and she looked up to see the two corpses before her. Naberius quickly turned around and grabbed Marizopa by her face with his massive golden claw and lifting her up. Auldlich had placed her in restraints as Naberius walked off back to his king and queen with the restrained Marizopa. Chaox was there among the ranks, rubbing her massive hands although there was no sign of the Skullbearer she had. Vulm was there too, holding the massive flaming mace while in place. Then there was this glowing icey skeleton, that was most likely Orcus. " Before we leave. Do you have anything else for us? " Ryke would ask.

This was all just some bad dream, right? It had to be. Iberis was just confused as well, due to having been under the influence of the book as well. That's why she was convinced there was no coming back for Renee. She didn't get why even Hope was thinking. “It's just the book... it must be the book! It'll go away once she's been away from the book for long enough!” She shouted back at Hope, although her voice was sounding more pleading than anything, as if begging Hope to just agree with her and stop confronting her with a truth she wasn't prepared to accept.

Even Renee herself was still speaking under the influence of that book. “Stop saying that, it's just the book influencing you, you need to fight it!” She tried, once again pleading with her sister. “Yes, I am weak, that's why I've been wandering this godforsaken realm for ten years without getting anywhere and barely even managed to start confronting my monstrous nature. Yet I'm getting there, I'm fighting it to become stronger, which you can do as well! Just fight against that book's influence on you!”

She dug her nails into her hands upon hearing the rest of Renee's words. She didn't want to believe any of it. Their sisterhood being mute? Threatening Sophia? No, no, this had to be the book speaking, not Renee. As if to wipe away the last doubts on her mind, Renee suddenly decided to attack again. Kalina wasn't sure what hurt more. The electricity coursing through her undead veins or the shattering of whatever illusions she'd been keeping up about her sister. She felt utterly defeated. When the electricity made her fall onto the ground, she didn't have any strength left to get up.

She could feel life being restored to her, far more efficiently than her own regeneration could ever bring it. It made her wonder what was going on, until she lifted up her head and spotted two odd figures. She instinctively worried. When had more undead figures showing up ever been a good thing? She only eased up a little when they called them saviours. That changed when they introduced themselves as the king and queen. Were these the people looking to destroy the country and turn it into an undead paradise? Or were those lies as well? As if reading her mind, Ryke answered just that question.

She was confused by Narberius throwing her dagger at her. Part of her wanted to attack him for it, yet she was too exhausted to grant that monstrous side the time of day. Kalina was confused when they asked if they had anything else for them. Even so, it allowed her to ask the question. “Can I bring her back, to how she was before all this happened?” She asked, not even trying to avoid sounding desperate. She still hadn't given up on Renee altogether, despite having almost been given a third death by her own sister. She was still deluding herself with the idea that it was all just due to the book and nothing else. That something could be restored, returned or changed.

Just as the orb left her palm, Hope was already thinking of the gratification she'd get from this. She could feel it now. The rush, Kalina's and Iberis' praise, the retribution. It would've been like nothing she'd ever felt before. Yet, there was no rush as she watched her magic send Renee into the farthest wall. And no satisfaction as her body crumpled to the floor. Hope felt her stomach drop. There it was again. That stupid feeling that'd gotten her tricked. That horrible empathy none of those monsters ever deserved. It couldn't stop her here. She needed to finish what she had started. For herself, for the greater good, for them.

As Hope tried to will herself forward, Kalina's desperate pleading popped into memory. She tried to shake it out of her head. But it still didn't make any sense. Kalina was betrayed and tricked, too. And probably had been way before this adventure had even started. So why was she still fond of this monster? So what if it was her sister? Couldn't she see the good it'd bring to rid the world of Renee? Couldn't she see the pain she'd spare if only she'd strike down her sister?

The thought gave Hope pause. Even more than the sudden numbness in her collapsing body. And even more so than the two figures finally revealing themselves, their magic mending her broken body and their praises reaching her ears. She couldn't hear it. Only that single, monstrous thought notion in her head.

A monster would've thought of that, Hope realized. She thought of that.

The sound of Ryke's voice brought her back to the present. Hope looked around with quivering eyes, darting back and forth to what remained of the coven. She felt her heart swell with shame. Killing Renee wouldn't make Kalina and Iberis happier. If only they'd heard that. They would've never looked at her the same. She would've been just as ruthless as Renee. That couldn't happen. She had to be the one who cared. She needed to make it up for them.

"Kalina, Iberis, I didn't mean to - I just wanted to-" She shook her head hopelessly. No words could justify what she thought. There had to be another way. "Ryke, is there any way you could reverse this? All of this? Before we even made it into that realm?" Hope pleaded, parroting Kalina's request and desperation, "Please, I'm so sorry. I didn't want any of this to happen. Could you just make it go away? Please?"

It wasn't a surprise that Renee wasn't going to accept Kalina's offer. They were far beyond any kind of agreement that could be made. It was a bit hard for Iberis to focus on the nuances of the situation when she was so burned, it wasn't like she was pain resistant with the exception of the leg that she possessed. Iberis thought that becoming a vampire was certainly the best case scenario for Renee at this point, if she even wanted to live, but Renee refused. It wasn't like Iberis would have forgiven Renee for all of her transgressions against them at this point anyway had she been placated, she would have likely taken the opportunity to finish her off herself if she had too.
She then once again heard Renee, how hypocritical she was being criticizing Iberis for wanting to further her own goals, while Renee was quite literally willing to kill all of them to do the same. Regardless she looked back at Renee defiantly, as she tried to cut into her with her words, the name..Judas sort of sounded familiar she wasn't sure where she heard it before, but despite the name sounding familar and not remembering the origin for some reason she recognized what the sentiment carried behind it. As Renee stood up straight Iberis was about to retort You can kill me now Renee, but I'll have the satisfaction knowing that you'll never reach your goal. but before she could she burst out into an unbearable pain that was all consuming on her already cooked back by fire, now it was time for the electricity. Iberis knew well enough it was unlikely Renee was going to live unless she healed up and there didn't seem to be anything in the area to do so, and the book was gone, and it was clear she wasn't going to accept becoming a vampire.

As she flailed around it was pretty clear Iberis was dying as she was starting to tap out not long after the flailing started, it wouldn't be long before total organ failure as the world around her started to become dark, probably not even realizing that the same was being done to Kalina in that instance, thankfully the pain wouldn't be all that long lived since the embrace of death was not far off. As long as they had been able to stop Renee's goal that's what mattered at the end right?

By the time Hope's powers were being bolstered and she was assaulting Renee, Iberis had already tapped out so she didn't see much of a anything that transpired there. Nor did she hear what the epic figures were saying who manifested when they spoke to one another.

Iberis did finally regain her consciousness, not only that she didn't feel any pain..that must meant that she finally died and ended up whoever was right, right? Truthfully Iberis had just grown up assuming there was a possibility of the Ryken Pantheon being real, so had she gone to some sort of underworld or purgatory? Iberis didn't feel it was likely she directly to parad- She paused for a moment as her eyes opened and widened, what were those things? She gripped her catalyst to support herself, feeling fully rejuvenated. Her whole face lit up in surprise when she heard those names..these were the people from all of the information she had seen.

"R-Rosan and Ryke Bulvark..it's really both of you, your..majesties.." She'd exclaimed awed, going down to a prostrated position in an effort to appear respectful even if she didn't know much about etiquette. She then looked over around the room quickly trying to locate where Renee was if everyone was healed, but..she was wrong everyone was not healed, and Renee had blood coming out of her mouth and was seemingly unable to move..meaning right now if she stayed that way she couldn't cast magic. A deep sense of relief flooding over Iberis.

Upon hearing they weren't there to bring Armageddon but were trying to prevent disaster, Iberis felt even more relieved, bu that had meant that she had almost mistakenly contributed to what they were trying to prevent by helping Renee.. She looked at Auldlich as he smiled, the familiar pair who didn't look so scary now, knowing what they had truly been trying to prevent all along. Knowing what she did now, Iberis would gladly take him as a master over Renee, particularly one who had been so loyal so long, one so just, yet so powerful at the same time, it was something Iberis felt like she couldn't aspire too..she just felt so impure.. Even so she gave him a bit of a smile back, now knowing that she had inadvertently made the right choice.

And then the others fell in line from Vulm to Chaox...Iberis eventually stood up and looked to Hope who spoke, after the royalty said their piece. "Hope..it's fine, I know you did what we all had to do." Iberis then looked back to Kalina a bit more pained. Even then Kalina still was unwaveringly loyal to Renee and it really hurt to see, truthfully the pair of them..and then there was Scylla still on the ground seemingly not dead, perhaps just passed out, as she had been healed too..

She then looked to the group of undead and Iberis spoke. "Auldlich..I just wanted to say I'm..sorry I didn't listen to you sooner, I..just..I really..I really wanted to believe that Renee wouldn't..do what you all told me they'd do, if I had just stopped her back there..it wouldn't have gotten so close.." Iberis spoke, sounding a bit emotionally charged with self blame, before she continued,

"I..know it's probably hard to say if you can do what Hope and Kalina are asking of you, so please, if you can't..reverse what happened here, I just..want you to give me..give..us the strength to go on with out her, I need to be strong enough to do..what's right, and I feel like the path I'm on has been dangerous from the start now that I've seen it all play out..so please..if you can't bring Renee back, ,just...put her out of her misery, she's already lost so much, I already know the real Renee died a long time ago, and in her current state she's too dangerous to heal..she won't stop until she's destroyed us all if she's given that chance, please, if you can't bring her back the way she was before all this without the risk of this happening again..I really don't want to have to deal with her myself..." Iberis said clutching her staff. Iberis mostly definitely sounded like she was pleading as some tears formed once more, looking down a bit as they fell using the staff for support.

With Ryke holding the book, he looked to the now approaching group that was left, although with the approach a few of the guards belonging to the two moved forward in front of them with shields raised and spears pointed at them. Rosan raised a hand up which caused the guards to let their weapons and guards down. The massive figure that was Ryke stared at each of the three rejuvenated adventurers, he then nodded to Rosan who looked to him. She gave that eerie smile of hers before turning her head to Kalina, who would feel the gaze on her despite not seeing her eyes, " Despite your older age for a vampire, you have not really matured much. Hopefully this experience will teach you. You cannot change someone like her. She is no longer your sister. She is a hungry beast that is looking only for power. Her ambition caused you all pain. Possible unrecoverable pain. Deep wounds don't heal, they scar. " Rosan spoke looking to the vampire. " She cannot be changed. You only prolong the inevitable. Her destiny is to always become unhuman. A monster. She is destined to betray you. And not just you either. But anyone she comes into contact with who creates an accord with her. To alter her mind would only make her into a abomination that isn't who she truly is. A selfish act. " She then raised a hand in which Choax, the massive cloaked Ratkin beast came forward, " Yes, my queen? " Chaox knelt down with her head hung lowly. " You have the sight of a seer, dear Chaox. You can see the future. " Rosan announced for everyone to hear. " What do you see happening if we were to alter the witch's mind? " Rosan asked the massive cloaked ratkin. She stood there for a couple of moments before she arose, " I see her only becoming the same person. She would eventually return to this state and remember this event. Her next attempt at godhood would most likely result in succession. " Chaox stated.

Rosan turned her head to Kalina, " You will have to learn to grow without her. She intends to sacrifice the world for her own goals. Her obsession trumps all. " Rosan stated, " It's the way of the world. But something else. " Rosan looking to Chaox who nodded looking to Kalina, " You are something special. " She pointed, " You can change the outcome of events. " The cloaked Ratkin pointed her big finger at her. " When we were in that world, formerly named Oll's Ruins. The outcome was supposed to be Marizopa getting her hands on the Codex and become Oll. The Outer God of destruction and ruin. Then a massive war would break out between the Ruinations of Oll and the current occupants of life in the Country of Ryke. Whether it came to her downfall or further ascension wasn't seen. But your attack on the book wasn't one that was expected and changed the outcome of it. Instead, it brought us to where we are currently are. " Chaox rubbed her hands smiling, " What you choose to do with this ability is up to you. "

Hope's desperate request did not change the minds of Rosan and Ryke, Ryke would speak this time, " The events cannot be changed, you all must grow from this experience. Trying to change events will only change things that should not be changed. You would most likely have to catch the witch off guard and kill her. She is willing to die for this goal of hers. She had been thinking of deceiving you all far before it came to entering that world. What say she wouldn't kill you all then enter that realm, and the events play out the exact same? You cannot change the past and only embrace it. To live is to suffer. You all have been through much, that is true. But you would prolong the inevitable if not make things worse. " Ryke's voice rumbled as he then pointed a boney finger at Kalina and Hope. " You two have problems with your inner demons and thoughts, you will need to focus on those aspects to truly come to terms with who you are. Control those urges and thoughts. We will NOT change the past for you. " Ryke stated coldly as he slammed his staff on the ground which created a loud echo through the room they all stood in.

When Iberis bowed to the King and Queen, the two didn't react, but they did look at her as to acknowledge her. Auldlich would then turn to Iberis who began speaking to him, the bishop still had only three of his arms, having sacrificed one for Iberis back in that other realm. When she apologized, Auldlich chuckled, " Young apprentice, it is not your fault for what happened. It was a hard thing to accept on a whim. She was like an older sister to you. It is understandable that you wouldn't listen. " Auldlich stated just as her next plea was one the other two asked, Ryke and Rosan both looked to each other, most likely out of annoyance being asked the same thing again. But Iberis' next request for having the strength to get through this prompted Rosan to talk again, " Young witch in the making. No one can give strength without giving something in return. As it looks, you've already sacrificed flesh to garner more strength and knowledge. Inner strength comes from within, it is how you handle and deal with these events is what will mold you into the person you will become. You are young but impressionable. You've sacrificed a part of yourself already at your young age. Careful you do not walk the same path as your former master has. " Rosan placed her hand underneath her own chin while still wearing that eerie smile on her lips.

" As for putting down your friend. That we will not do. That is something you will have to do. Either together or as individuals is up to you. We have intervened enough and no longer will. It is your destiny to do that, not the destiny of us to put down a rabid dog. " Rosan continued. " Otherwise, she will rise again like she is trying currently. " Rosan noted looking at Renee's direction. They would see the shallow figure of Renee slowly pushing herself up with her arms, she was still bleeding from her mouth, her eyes were wide and deep, full of hatred, pain and rage. " I... I'll kill you all. " Renee quietly said as it was hard to speak, she was covered in her own blood. She was slowly regenerating which was causing her body to repair slowly but surely. If they did not kill her, she would most likely attack them all again. She looked desperate as she began to crawl herself towards the group, her catalyst on the ground between the two groups.

Around this time Scylla would begin to awake, she would see the undead before and exclaim loudly, " Oh my god! Are we all dead! " She cried with tears in her eyes, although seeing the others were all up, she got up and saw that Renee was laying on the ground trying to crawl towards them. " What... What happened? " She asked.

True to her name, Hope's words sparked some hope in Kalina. She wasn't the only one thinking that this was doomed to end so dramatically. Hope was also planning to undo this all! Surely, that meant she wasn't as desperate for thinking it as she thought she was! Then Iberis tempered that feeling almost instantly, mentioning the fact it might not be possible and instead just asking for strength to go on. Asking for them to 'put Renee out of her misery' like it was some sort of a dog. A hint of anger flared up, but died down upon her seeing Iberis' emotional state. These weren't words spoken out of malice.

That's when she heard the speeches of the Royalty themselves. She didn't want to believe Rosan. However, it was difficult to fully ignore the words spoken by someone so powerful and ancient. Even though she wanted to deny Rosan's words with every fiber of her being, she couldn't. Her [Critical] nature only taught her how she herself had been the one at fault. She was the one who'd never realised just how deeply she'd fallen into denial, wasn't she? Still, even then, she wanted to think differently. She desperately wished to cling on to whatever bond she had always believed in.

Chaox words were like fire flooding through her veins. They hurt. She realised why. She accepted them to be the truth. That's why they hurt so much. She'd always known Renee to be obsessive, but somehow had always believed their bond topped this obsession. Maybe there was a time here it had, but if there had ever been such a time, it was gone now, wasn't it?

She grimaced at being told she was something special. “Special? It's difficult to feel like such, when the one I'd want to save most of all seems doomed regardless of what I do.” Her voice was shaky, almost sarcastic, but at the same time, there was a hint of acceptance in it. Ryke saying that these events could not be changed made it feel even more ironic. She wasn't surprised when she got told they wouldn't change the past for them, as everything had been leading up to such a statement.

Then, the real hurt arrived. They told them to kill Renee. As if on cue, she could hear her sister speak. Finally, Kalina took a good look a sister. One not blinded by delusional hope and dreams. One grounded in bitter, painful, heart-wrenching realism. “They're... they're right about you, aren't they?” She asked, although she already knew the answer. Although her hand was shaking, she grasped onto her rapier. “Say, Renee. Do you remember? More ten years ago. I'd just awoken, with no clue who I was, what I was where I was... nothing. Trying to feed on animals that only made me vomit my guts out. Your blood was what saved me from starving back then.”

A weak smile showed on her face. “Enough blood to say we were practically blood-related. Sisters, right?” She gritted her teeth, as her grip on her rapier tightened. “That wasn't a lie, as it? That was real. So then, when? When did it become a lie?”

“When we met again in Kanato, after ten long years of barely knowing how you were doing due to your master having forced us to split up, was that real? Or was that already a lie? You were happy and excited, weren't you? You even bragged about your growing magic. I really believed that the bond we formed that day had somehow survived all those awful years without you.”

“Then, was it when you lied about Dahak? My reason told me that you lied to me to save him, but my emotions didn't want to make me believe it. Instead, I chose to silence my reason and believed you. That's when you also took that book, didn't you? Was it the book that made you lie about Dahak, or was it your lies that allowed you to obtain that book? Either way, that was it, wasn't it? That's when this awful course was set upon...”

She was standing close to Renee now, close enough to strike. “I tried reaching out to you. Writing you letters, getting you to reply. I tried finding time to talk with you. All I wanted was for my sister to be my sister... When I found you, in whatever awful realm we just left, I chose to believe you once more. It's stupid, isn't it? I should have known. You weren't concerned about when we should talk things out. It's ironic, you telling me how you'd put down your life for them and expected the same in return. Then you lied about Dahak, didn't you? Would things have been different if I confronted you, rather than choosing to believe you?”

She held up her rapier, angling it above Renee. “Just one sign. Just one sign of you genuinely caring about our sisterly bond. That'd have been enough for me to give this undead life for you. Yet instead, all you can see is rage, a desire to kill us. I'm sorry Renee... I'm sorry. I can't keep fooling myself. I've been fighting the monster in me, constantly, through desolate Marshes, when confronted with battle, undead, alluring blood, I kept trying to fight it. I only once lost myself to it fully, when I bit Hope. I still feel the pain of that failure. Yet you don't feel such a pain, do you? You've surrendered yourself fully to the monster in you. It's consumed anything I knew about you.”

Tears where streaming down Kalina's cheeks. She didn't think she could cry in this undead body. Was it even tears? They were coloured red. She was crying bloodied tears. “This isn't my first life. I've awoken in a new life once before. Perhaps some deity will hear my prayers and give you a similar chance. A chance to live again, without falling into the same mistakes. If you must hate me in that life, for what I'm about to do to this one, then I'll accept it fully.”

With trembling hands and tears of blood streaming down her cheeks, she plunged the rapier down, directly into Renee's heart. Giving it all the power she had in her, to ensure it was a quick and painless death. “Farewell... sister.” She said, as her rapier cleaved the body. For a while, she stood there, as if her mind had stopped working. Then, she took a few steps back, and before she knew it, a deafening scream escaped her lips. “AAAHRHG!!!” All this emotion, this turmoil, this conflict. It was so much. So much to bare. So much to comprehend. Why? The first person she met, why did it turn out like this? Why? What had she done? What had to be done? It made no sense. No sense at all. What did she even have left here? Was she truly alone now? Just like those years she'd spent wandering alone after having met Renee? Just like her previous life, crippled, useless, locked away in a room due to her mangled body?

Hope's shoulders slumped in defeat, Ryke's words feeling like nails scraping against her skin. "B-but, you could... We can..." She tried thinking of anything to counter his harsh truths, but nothing came. It couldn't have been denied; Ryke was right. Nothing would have changed. Nothing she'd say would've ever pacified Renee. Those terrible desires would still have manifested. Everyone would still be unhappy. The thought made her ball her fists in indignance, but soon, a shallow wave of painful acceptance washed over her. She'd have to move on. But that meant dealing with one more inevitability. Hope glanced at Renee and Kalina, remembering Rosan's last statement. She shifted her gaze before tears could start pouring out of her eyes. It didn't matter if this was inescapable. Looking away was the one thing she could control.

Hope pretended not to hear it. The final goodbyes, the rapier piercing flesh, Kalina's haunting scream, all just figments of her imagination. It was too unfair to be true. Kalina didn't deserve this torture. She was only trying to keep everyone safe -- happy. This couldn't be how this ends for her, Hope thought, watching Kalina with eyes full of remorse. No, she'd have to try something. It was the least she could do. "Kalina..." Hope approached the vampire, wiping the bloodied tears from her face with the soft fabric of her cloak, "I-I'm so sorry..." She didn't know what to say next. But something inside told her exactly what to do next. Hope outstretched her arms and brought Kalina into a tight, warm hug. "You're not alone," She whispered, pulling her in tighter, "I'm here for you. We're here for you. Never ever forget that,"

Hope peered over Kalina's shoulder to Iberis and Scylla. There was work to be done there, too. After giving Kalina a thoughtful nod and turning her away from Renee, Hope walked over to them. Her eyes shrunk in sadness as Scylla came to, wondering what'd happened. She didn't even know. That wasn't fair, too. "Renee is..." The sentence seemed unfinishable. It was all too quick - too final. "I-It was never your fault. It was never any of our faults." Hope said, bringing both Iberis and Scylla into an embrace, "I'll be here. We'll get through this together." Finally, she looked to Iberis, "And I'll be with you through every step. It's what she would've wanted."

She wished she knew what to do next. Everything had gone by so quickly, so violently, there wasn't a moment to make plans. No time to figure out where to go.

But maybe she didn't have to go anywhere. Maybe, she was better off with them. It didn't sound so bad.

It sounded absolutely perfect.

"Come on. We should go,"

It sounded like these people from a time long gone had a lot of insight to bestow upon them. Iberis did listen to what they had to say to Hope and Kalina. Unfortunately Iberis could tell what Rosan spoke rang true, there wasn't anyway they could realistically keep Renee from reaching this point again it sounded like, even if they tampered with her memory she would desire to become all powerful yet again, and would probably try to become a god herself as Marizopa had done. The weight of this revelation was crushing for her. It even seemed that Kalina had let things sink in and understood that they could only delay the enviable with Renee at best.
From the sounds of things Kalina had inadvertely saved them all by attacking the book, it just hadn't had the impact she was hoping for, if only destroying the book would have brought Renee back to her senses and she could have been content becoming a vampire, but there they were.

A bit of relief fell upon Iberis's face when Auldlich told her that that she wasn't to blame. It did feel strange in a way taking on another mentor sort so soon after Renee, but ultimately the sacrifice had been worth it, it meant that Iberis had been able to help stop Renee, if he hadn't intervened and Iberis didn't learn all she did then there may have been a completely different outcome with Iberis siding with Renee until the end where she more than likely got what she wanted and betrayed them.

"Thank you Auldlich, I'll never forget you, and now knowing all that you've sacrificed, you and your allies, I'm honored to have a part of ou with me, and I can say truthfully that I am proud to call you my master. I'll do my best to do what's right with what you've bestowed upon me."

Referring to the grafting process that had taken place and Auldlich's deeds which had been revealed to have a noble intention behind them to save the realm from destruction, as well as keeping his loyalty to the rightful leaders at the time. Iberis tried to keep her words together as she said this, since her emotions were running high, but she meant every word she said now. She felt grateful for this unfortunate group.

Despite the potential annoyance Iberis's repetition of questioning may have caused, it was difficult to blame she just wanted things to be the way they were before, and now it had been confirmed that wasn't possible to last long.

She was immediately at attention when Rosan started to speak to her, however. Rosan's words spoke true. Iberis saw the Eerie smile and it did not put her at ease, it sounded more like warning of what was to come if she followed in Renee's footsteps. Iberis had now seen first hand what can happen to someone who pursues something at the cost of everything else, she saw the pain and suffering it caused for all of those around, she couldn't possibly do the same now could she? She needed further guidance and to get her priorities straight, she could always search out more power but too much power showed how easily people could be corrupted.

Iberis's face shifted to a conflicted one yet again when she heard Rosan tell them that they weren't willing to kill Renee. Iberis gripped her staff, she had come this far, and she wasn't expecting anyone else in the group to want to go through and do it, so she started mentally preparing herself as she looked over at Renee who was moving slowly trying to heal up so that she could come and kill them.

"Thank you, I now understand your majesty, I know what I need to do."

She said to Rosan with another bow to the best of her ability. But just then Kalina grip her sword, and start speaking to Renee, not sounding the most well off, Iberis's face turned to one of concern a she looked over at her vampire friend, hearing her give her speech. As she heard her speak, Iberis felt more tears start to fall down her face as she heard Kalina recall her time with Renee, the words hit home because it felt very much like what Iberis had been trying to do this whole time, give Renee a chance to prove that it wasn't true and that she did actually care about them more than achieving godhood as she called it, but that never came, she could only imagine the pain that Kalina was going through now since she had known Renee much longer than Iberis. She watched her strike Renee down right in the vital spot. The spot that Iberis wished she had been accurate enough to pierce through earlier in the fight, to avoid some of this, but it was over.

The tears just wouldn't stop, even as exhausted and dehydrated as she was in that moment it was a sorrow Iberis had not felt before. "I'm..sorry Scylla Hope's right, It, had to be done, Renee isn't coming back." She managed to get out, but then she felt Hope's embrace and that's when Iberis's ability to keep her composure started to break immediately as she simply began to sob, and hugged Hope and Scylla tightly. Part of it was because of how overwhelmed she was because of Renee's death and the other part was because Hope was telling her that she'd stay with her.

"Thank.. you..Hope." She forced out, maintaining the as strong a hug she could muster for a bit, before going more lax. As she pulled back and gave Hope a nod of confirmation that they should get going. Still feeling a shock from everything that had transpired as she gradually became more mellow. They were going to work through this together, be there for one another and become stronger as a result, was the belief that Iberis knew she had to hold onto now.

The slowly regenerating witch slowly kept crawling towards her catalyst that laid on the ground, her eyes fixated on it that she didn't even see Kalina making her way over. Grab your book, use it to burn all of these fools to a crisp, turn them to dust and ash! She thought to herself, ignoring the pain that was impeding her and that was slowing her down. She wasn't even close to her journal, but she saw her goal here, she saw that the King and Queen had repaired the Codex, that part was done! She could destroy them and take it! Easy! But then her willful arrogance would begin to decline once she realized Kalina was already closing in on her, she looked up at her sister, into her eyes. Renee's glowing that same dark red that held such an evilness in it. Her own face was plastered with pain from her broken body. Renee figured Kalina was here to help her, she had so foolhardy it wouldn't surprise Renee that Kalina would stick with her and was here to get her up. Renee was going to say something when Kalina began speaking, asking if they were right about her. Renee said nothing, she knew now that even Kalina had now seen Renee for who she is.

The broken witch watched Kalina with shaky hands grasp her rapier and begin to reminisce on their previous lives, Renee stayed silent as she spoke her speech. But getting onto their sisterhood, Renee's eyes may have softened, or maybe it was a silent anger. It was hard to say with how stressful this situation has become, with this difficult weight that Kalina had now on her shoulders. But when did this sisterhood die.... Yes. It died at Kananto. Renee had realized, when Kalina spoke with that bitch of a bug and when Renee acquired that book that was now in the hands of the two old Rulers. When she allowed Dahak to live only for him to continue his mayhem elsewhere. She smiled just a little realizing that she was going to die, going to be killed at the hands of Kalina, her former sister. The letter she had acquired from Kalina from long ago she had read, but when she did... She felt that spark of happiness. But it wasn't as strong and powerful previously. And day after day that bond would erode further. Renee had sent her own letter out but... Did she even get it? She couldn't even remember if she had actually sent it out. Renee began to remember now, that letter she had failed to send out, it was a cry for help. Maybe it still had the last shred of her humanity still in that letter.

Renee saw Kalina raise her rapier ready to strike her down. Would she beg? Would she cry? Would she spout hateful remarks and words? Renee only took a deep breath and looked up at her sister with a stoic expression. " I didn't want to be a corpse. " Renee spoke finally. " I didn't want to be a vampire. I wanted to achieve immortality. But then I saw the powers the book held, it was my intention to seek out any sort of knowledge that would be beneficial in my goals and journey. " Renee stared at Kalina, there was a calmness over Renee. Which was weird as she would realize that if she were to die, she would become reincarnated once more in most likely another world. Good, this was world was ruled by an uncaring stupid tyrant, she remembers meeting him. One she would be glad to be out of finally. " I told you ten years ago. I would sacrifice anything and everything for that goal. " Renee stated. " And I meant that statement. And I would do all this again. " Renee's eyes darkened again as her voice grew dark, there was no shed of regret in either of them. She made sure to look at her killed as Kalina finally made her final strike, stabbing Renee through her heart as her glowing eyes widen and Renee let out a quiet gasp of pain as she slowly fell back to the ground and her eyes began to leave Kalina's, turning back to their original silver color as she let out one final breath before finally giving in, her body grew still as her heart gave its final beat. Renee's vision would darken as the same darkness took her with her mind becoming encapsulated with void.

With Renee's final breath taken, and a shrill cry of regret filled the room. Ryke and Rosan stared at the scene, they would then look at each other and nod, no words needed to be spoken, this was up to the rest of them and how they would deal with this pain. It was time to go for them. The two both held a hand out and the Codex flipped through pages. Quickly as in reality itself there appeared a cut before it opened up the void and created a doorway for them. Scylla had tears streaming down her cheeks with watching her master finally die. But she would feel a hand on her shoulder as Ryke, Rosan then the rest of the Blue Viscera Occult along with their legion would begin to walk into the portal to wherever their next destination was at. " Come and join us, Scylla. There is much for you to see and do if you will it. " The bishop spoke with a softness. Scylla stared at the scene before her then looked to Auldlich and nodded. She looked at the group before her, their coven had been broken finally. Scylla gave a smile to the remaining few of them, she would walk with the legion while thinking back on better times. When the entirety of the Blue Viscera Occult had disappeared into the portal. It would close leaving them all alone.

The remaining three would reach the surface of the world, reaching the dawn of a new day. Like the rest of this world, time would go on as time holds no remorse for anyone that passes. The dawn of a new day. The only thing the three survivors of this entire ordeal would have to be continue living life however they could.

OOC: Thank you all for joining me on this adventure, I hope you all very much enjoyed this storyline that's been happening since the beginning of IH. It was nice to see all these characters go through all these hoops and loops, having Renee basically put all of the characters through hell for her own gain. Then having her meet her own end at the hands of really everyone as they all did their part to take her down. A good ole traumatizing time for everyone. Hard times make hard people. Life is Suffering. Thank you all once again!

An end of something long time in the making. Par for the course, it felt like there was a lot crammed into one rp and the combats/abilities seemed to be running in rule's light mode. But also like the others, the dark adventure did a lot of building with some twists to give the rp some real stakes. Felt pretty deep. Perhaps a bit loose on the renown to establish some of the lore though.

Aftermath
Feels like any long standing impact has be thwarted this time around.
