Robotech: UEEF Saga

The missiles do the trick and drop the Shock Trooper targeted by Jackie down to the deck.  With your call to the MacArthur, you get the reply, "Copy that.  You are not the only one to report unusual Invid mecha being deployed.  Use extreme caution when engaging, and make sure your recorders are running to evaluate the combat capabilities of this new target."

"We'll see how good these things are at avoiding missiles - prepared to bring them down." For now, however, there are still leftovers from the first wave. Once again, the gun pod roars, as Miu does her best to halve their numbers.
 
Between Dana and Miu, the last two of the initial run of Shock Troopers are shot down.


As the new targets are approaching, Dana starts to mutter, "You filthy bastards!  Get out of my head! I will watch you all burn!"  Through clenched teeth, she says in a louder voice, "Beware the Battloids.  They are very intelligent, and have a mean streak a mile wide.  They are truly deadly."


A new round begins.

"Bugger me thats alot of em..." he turned on all recording devices and prepared for a difficult battle, feeling happy that he managed to get that electronic link between them all running. "Alright, going in for first test. lets see if they like missiles. 5 frags away." arming the rockets he fired upon the first battloid. 


"Cross your figners loves!" he spoke to the others as he made his way from the group. 
 
It is not possible for a unit to dodge more than four missiles, but you can shoot them down before they hit!  On its back, a hatch opens up to reveal a missile launcher of its own, and the Battloid fires off two separate volleys, one single mini missile, and a group of eight short range at Jackie.  The one mini missile hits your incoming rounds and explodes, and the resulting explosion wipes out the last four of the salvo. 


@Silanon is up next, and @Orikanyo needs to declare a defense action.  You cannot dodge, but you do have chaff packs that can spoof the incoming missiles, you can try to shoot down a missile and have the explosion take out enough of the volley to dodge, or leave it to your automated head cannon to take them out.  It has three attacks of its own for the role of missile defense, and operates independently of you.  Or you can do something completely different.  Its up to you.

Jackie uses his gunpod and head mounted turrets to deal with the rockets. 
 
Both your gun pod and head mounted chain gun roar, hitting the missiles.  Each weapon system takes out a single missile from direct fire, and the resulting explosion manages to make a chain reaction and finish off the rest, saving your bacon.  But, this is a radical departure from any other Invid unit you have heard of, being armed with missiles.  Fortunately, the Valkyrie is a older model of Veritech that was deployed to fight the Zentraedi, and they certainly use missiles.  It helped to keep you from getting damaged.

"Let's see how many more rounds that thing can shoot down." Five heap missiles leave the MM-20 pods, aiming for the same thing as Jackie. Enough to demand a reaction, not too many in case the Invid can intercept them in time. "Almost seems as if they got some inspiration from our mechas, if you ask me. Takes capable pilots to make them work, though."

No damage taken.


Munition: 20/40 MM-20, 16/16 MM-16 (all short/HEAP), 36/36 mini-missiles hardpoints (Plasma), 30 rounds HEAT (105mm-cannon)
 
Five missiles fly out, and once more, the Battloid fires a mini missile to try and intercept the volley.  This time, however, only two of the five is taken down, and the remaining three hit their target. Its armor is holding strong.


Dana decides to fire on the first of the Shock Troopers with her gun pod, taking out one of the incoming Invid.


Battloid 2 launches a volley of eight short range missiles at Dana, but between her own head mounted Anti Missile Defense unit and her chaff/flares, she is able to evade the few missiles that don't get destroyed by the computerized fire.

Serena looks at the two new mecha with uncertainty. "I've never even heard of an Invid mecha with missiles. They must have learned that trick from us. Let's thin the numbers of bad guys down a bit. Targeting one of the Enforcers! Missiles away." She then triggers off a flight of five Plasma missiles at the first of the Enforcers.

The missiles hit the Enforcer hard, doing critical damage to the Invid mecha and blowing it out of the sky.

jackie prepares his gunpod once more and attempts to blast battleoid 1. "Come on.... heres hoping!" the gunpod was computer guided, his electronic guidance systems were online, what else did they need?

He had both, so heres hoping it works! 


because apparently it has missile defense, but did it have bullet defenses? yes, but this had better luck.

The Battloid probably doesn't have a active missile defense system like the Valkyrie does.  It is more likely that the pilot is just using its actions to perform counterfire to your missile attack.  But, you are correct that it does not have a 'bullet defense', and instead, it tries to dodge.  Very unusual behavior for the Invid; normally the slugs don't have the presence of mind to try and evade fire like that.  Despite the dodge attempt, it does get hit by the spray of bullets from your GU-11, bullets forming pock marks in its hull.  It is well armored, and will take quite a bit more punishment before being put out of the fight.


In return, it turns to use its own plasma cannon that is mounted in its right arm against Jackie, since it has seen that you do have a missile defense system.  It will hit unless you dodge.


Shock Troopers 2-5 look to Miu in her Beta as a good challenge to take on, and they fire on her.  Three of the four will hit; the fourth has some sort of misfire of its cannons.

Doing her best to avoid the incoming attacks, Miu is forced to let the battloid do his thing for now. Instead, she tries to use the additional speed of her evasive maneuver to get in position to return the fire - six mini missiles leave their respective pods to hopefully blast one of the shock troopers out of the sky.

No damage taken.

Jackie attempts to evade the lasers. "This thing has to have a weakness or somethin', it's turning into a right slugfest. We got a plan loves or are we stuck in a mecha slap fight?"
 
Both Jackie and Miu are able to evade the fire coming in to you, and Miu's counter fire hits the Shock Trooper and blasts it into rubble.


Dana shifts her target to the damaged Battloid 1, and ripple fires off a four pack of missiles at it.  Sadly, it once more fires a mini missile at the salvo, destroying three of the incoming swarm before the fourth one hits the Battloid square in the chest.  Its armor is still holding, even as it is getting whittled away.


Battloid 2 opens up with ten missiles at Serena, and they will hit unless you do something.


@Psychie is up, and needs to make a defense declaration.  You can't dodge that many missiles, but you can either try a Chaff/Flare pack or try shooting down the volley.  Up to you how you want to do it.

Those Battloids are attacking quite aggressively.  The first one shouldn't be able to evade the shots forever; perhaps it is time to really dump on it.  But first I need to stop those bastards from shooting me down!  Serena scrambles to protect herself.  First, she triggers her chaff to try and spoof the incoming volley, but hedges her bets with a well aimed mini missile back at the swarm.  Then, she lines up six HEAP missiles at Battloid 1, hoping that it has used up all of its actions and will not be able to do much more than sit there and get hit.

Between the chaff and the counter missile, Serena is able to evade or destroy the incoming attack.  You are somewhat shaken by the close proximity of the explosions to you, but you take no damage.  Safe, for now.  Your own missile strike is far more successful.  The six warheads slam into the Battloid and explode in a violent display, sending rubble raining down on the buildings below.


The two Enforcers both target Serena, probably due to the fact that you just destroyed one of their shiny new Battloids.  They will hit unless you dodge.

Jackie pulled in for another pass, fireing three of his fragmentation missiles upon enforcer 2. "Bloody hell this is dragging on ain't it! Is this karma for somethin'?" he complained once the pass finished, wondering how the other groups were doing with their groups of invid. the first alpha was down, he had captured the act with relative ease. But he couldn't help but wonder if it just being a bigger better model wasn't the end of it, the addition of missiles certainly helped it, thankfully the UEEF didn't put all their eggs in one basket in terms of defences.

Jackie fires his three missiles, but they fail to arm as they launch, unfortunately.


The three remaining Shock Troopers bank suddenly, and try to grapple Dana's Valkyrie.  She is able to maneuver fast enough to keep from getting nabbed by their claws.

As the shock troopers focus on Dana for a moment, Miu has enough breathing room to aim for the battloid. Adjusting her position for the MM-16's to line up well with the new invention, she releases eight missiles, trying to blast it out of the sky. "Damn things - will they just die already? Everyone's fine thus far?"

No damage taken.
