Personality: Around her owner, Melanie is incredibly bubbly and happy, but when around other pets, or people of no significance, she can be incredibly cynical. Melanie understands her life would be horrible without her owner, but also understands that she's being robbed of some form of freedom.
Bio: Melanie lived a small portion of her life in a shelter before being adopted by her first family. Her sweet face and large eyes always made it easy for when competing for someone's attention. Of course, her loud mouth and habit of ramming into things were what got her thrown back by her first two families. She was feisty to say the least and no parent wanted their child to grow up around someone who lacked discipline. After the second time she was returned one of the staff told her what would happen if she couldn't find a "forever home." Melanie was shocked and disgusted, but everyone noticed her quick shift in tune. It took her a few weeks to master the kind and patient look, but once she did she was finally adopted and kept. Though that doesn't stop her from walking on eggshells whenever humans, or anyone who could possibly sway her owner's opinion, are around.

Personality: Calvin doesn't know how to act, he sees the happy playfulness of the dog humanoids, the stoic, passive aggression of the reptilians, the... he doesn't even know what some of the others are going for. But he knows none of those are for him, but who can blame him, he's a bear! Solitary and predatory, he doesn't need to know how to please others or be cute and cuddly, he is the apex predator of his region or... at least he thinks he would be... Only ever seeing any others of his kind on store televisions, all of his beliefs and personality choices are from someone else or something else telling him how act.. who to be. It all seemed so forced and fake like he's never who he wants to be, but how can he be anybody else when it's all he's ever known. Maybe he can find his way with a new home and a new... owner, why was that so hard to say? He'd never known anything different but, never by a specific person before.
Bio: Calvin has spent his life in and out of different stores and adoption centers, sometimes for years sometimes for just a few days. They keep moving him around in the hopes that someone will eventually take an interest in him and thus Calvin doesn't feel attached to anyone, although he is starting to want it but just a little! He has never been outside on his own for very long, having never been adopted and usually spending his time in the back of the stores with the other more exotic pets.

Personality: Lauren's a straight arrow. She holds honesty and efficiency as a high priority. This of course is no surprise considering her father is the CEO of one of largest pet breeding corporations in the country. She's very charismatic as well, supposedly gaining it from her mother. She loves laughing and hanging out with those closest to her. While her father's job is closely tied to the selling and distribution of pets, she feels that they should be given better rights and protection.
Bio: Lauren was born into a rather wealthy family due to her father's job. This meant that she had what most would call an easy life. Of course she still had her hardships and grew up with a good head on her shoulders, but she never had to deal with some of the burdens that came with a lack of money or being in a less than stellar neighborhood. With her father's work, they never saw a point in owning a pet; her father saw enough of them as it was, but with the increase in activists a number of threats had been made against the the CEO and his family. This has now led to them adopting their first pet as a sort of guard dog for Lauren.

Personality: Derek is quiet, but not in a shy way, he just prefers to listen to what other people have to say before making his voice heard. He spends most of his free time reading his extensive library and building signs for his job. His extensive education and repertoire of books leads to him being quite well spoken and knowledgeable about certain topics, although he strives to be a kind and understanding teacher when it comes to telling others the things he has learned over the years. Feeling that he has a calm and level personality Derek can come off as having a god complex or seeming to think that he is above everyone else, that couldn't be further from the truth... at first... While he starts out being quite kind and understanding, circumstances and experiences arise that challenge his gentle nature to show that he really enjoys feeling powerful
Bio: Derek had a quite childhood, mother teaching him right from wrong, telling him that all beings, people and monsters always started out as his equals and it was their actions that defined their character. She was very much the inspiration for him joining the monster rights activists group and being so adamant as to rise to the top to a managerial position. He feels he has done his mother proud, raising awareness, hosting charitable events to increase the rights and liberties of monsters in the developed world, and generally devoting his life to their well-being. But all that will soon be brought into question from within and without. As part of a public relations pitch to appease the opposing sides, Derek is forced to adopt a pet of his own. He adamantly refused at first, saying it went against his very core values but... part of him was excited to have someone... submit to him... to be beneath him... No, no that can't be it he is just nervous about having someone new in his space. The opposition who argue that having monsters is not only a right but a necessity, were equally as adamant to get him to agree to this in order to get them to back down on some other issues in an upcoming vote. They believe their relationships with monsters blossom, leading to companionship and helping man-kind grow and prosper by having these monsters fill roles that humans cannot.
