The first exam period for the senior class had come to an end last Friday. After that the official announcement had been made that they would be taken on a weeklong trip next monday. Of course, the students had already been aware, since it was more or less the schools tradition to have a survival week after the first exam week of the senior year. Though the location and all of it was still kept secret, the students had been adviced to pack up clothes that were warm and sturdy. They should also be aware that the clothes could get dirty or perhaps even ripped if they were not careful. A small hint was given to also take some bathing clothes with them, but nothing more was said in the announcement. Parents, legal guardians and caretakers were informed as well of course, since they still needed to give permission, but they would be updated with more information, such as the location of the students and the schedule, on monday morning. This monday morning, right after the students were send on their merry way. So, it would be to no ones suprise that excitement and nervousness hang even more in the hallways and classrooms. And though most students seemed to be very excited about this whole survival trip, others were not that amused. Regardless, the second bell had sounded to the hallways and all students should be in their class rooms by now. Safe for the very few that even on this day managed to be late...

"Good morning, Class," the teacher spoke. Some of them starting right away after that second bell had started, others somewhat more patient as they had waited for each student to find their seat. No matter what class you were in, the following message should be more or less the same. "As all of you have already been informed on Friday, today we will leave for our survival week!" Those who had a window seat could see a quite impressive amount of black transporters pulling up on the schoolyard. "Eyes up here please!" Some teacher may have warned, others may have ignored the way this news of the vans on the schoolyard were spreading like wild fire through soft hissed words and whispers through the young people before them. "If you want more information about this trip, you better pay attention now! As I was trying to say, you will be send of in groups of 10. No, Timothy, we have already made the groups, you cannot chose your own friends. We have already made the groups." And with those words envelopes were held up, each adressed to one student in particular, with inside nothing but a fairly easy question of the subject of the class the student was in right now. The answer of course being the group number of the student. For example, in biology the question could be "how many ribs does an average human have?" The answer of course being 24, meaning that the student should go to the black van with the big 24 written on the backdoors. "These envelops will be the first clue to find your group and be taken to the cabin. You are allowed to work together and help each other, but all vehicles will leave in thirty minutes after the bell, with or without you... Good luck!" The teacher would give each student their own envelope. Of course with the clear instruction they could not be opened until the bell sounded and for those who'd try to look through the material against the light, or otherwise, precautions had been taken to make sure no one could cheat. "Don't forget your bags. Everything that is left behind, will not be brought to your cabin later today," the teacher warned and almost directly after that a bell sounded again, followed by the ripping of paper and envelopes being opened.

Location: Maths Classroom >>> Vehicle 22

Interaction: The Mystery Voice and his twin {over text} iShyShy iShyShy

Outfit: Stars and bag
The whole weekend he had been bothering his sister already, and of course, been spectulating online. A week of survival! Unlike what people might thing, Isaiah Vanderbuys was genuinely excited for it. Even if it would mess up his clothes and hair, things that he usually disliked. He carried a bit sports bag with him, with clothes for any occassion and weather time. All of it from the newest seasons and high brands of course, almost as if he had not read the instruction to bring old clothes, that could get dirty. He would somehow make sure none of that was gonna happen, and if it did, well so be it. A great excuse to go shopping as soon as they would be back from their trip!

Besides an, to some insane amount of, clothes, this bag was also filled up with at the very least one powerbank for each day and some extras. Isaiah Vanderbuys was gonna be posting, even when on a survival trip in middle of nowhere. He would die without his phone, so he had made sure that he would keep that battery going even if they would not have any electricity. He had even packed some of those powerbanks that could charge phones on mere sunlight. Though he would have to do without his extra lights and his screen and other attributes. He had contemplated about taking his tripod, but decided that would be a bit much for a survival week. Besides a bit unsteady hand would give his pictures a more authentic feel and look, or so he hoped. There was some excitement on the other side of the class room near the windows, but their stern maths teacher quickly made sure all eyes were on him again. Though the steel blue ones slowly found his best friend that was lucky enough to have a window seat. He gave a bit of a head knock and not much later his phone vibrates. Whole bunch of vans just drove up the school yard!

The, now mostly blonde, male frowned as he quickly pushed the phone back into his black dress pants. He had felt like dressing up a bit, but still in a playful way. So the top three buttons of his shirt were left open. It showed of his very well trained chest, partly at least. It was still classy, but it did give a bit of a playful, flirty peek a boo. Overall it was typical Isaiah, then again he could pull of everything and every look. And that was not just arrogant thinking. There were several photoshoots and model jobs he had had to prove that. Not that it mattered to him, he just wore whatever he felt like. Hence why he had decided to take a half wardrobe with him. Though it covered not even five percent of his actually wardrobe. He just had wanted to be prepared! It was Apriil, so the weather wasn't yet that stable yet. It could still be very cold and windy, even though today was a lovely day.

Isaiah quickly looked up when he was called up to the front of the class room and he took the envelope before sitting back down. He turned it a few times in his hand. So, inside there was a random excersize? They were in math class, so he hoped it was not to difficult. Though he was fairly good at Mathematics, or well, fairly good. It was his only straight A subject, without even trying for it. He waited 'patiently', until the bell rung again. Thirty minutes would be more than enough. His thumb swiftly moved under the opening and quickly but neatly ripped it open. A small paper slid out of it. 4x-32=2x+12 He grabbed one of his pens, though it wasn't even necessary to write anything down. 2x was 44, so x was 22. He grabbed his bag and was off. Sure, they could help each other, but if anything Isaiah was competitive. And this wasn't really a compition or anything, but it still felt like time was of the essence. So he didn't want to waste it helping out others. Despite that he didn't ran down the hallways, only the stairs, but a few minutes later he made his way out of the school on onto the schoolyard where indeed a whole bunch of vehicles were waiting. He quickly made his way over to the one with the big 22 on the back and he pulled open the door.

The inside of the van was fully stripped, apart from two benches on either side. "Name?" A voice suddenly sounded through the back of the van and Isaiah jolted a bit. He looked around, before he noticed the communication system that had been installed. He pressed the red button. "Isaiah Vanderbuys," he said. He put his bag down as he sat down. He was the first one of his group to get here. "Please take a seat. There are still 26 minutes left," the voice informed him. He tried to make out who it was, but either he did not know the person, or they used a voice disformer. Both were just as likely. He looked a bit around though there was not much comfort to find in the van. Beside him, his bag and the communication device there was nothing but cold metal surrounding him. He hardly even noticed the lack of lightning or how his eyes had adjusted to it, unknowingly. He wondered how his sister was doing as he quickly got his phone out again. Hey sis, what group are you in? It was without doubt that a studious person as she had figured it out already.

It was a good thing they had packed their stuff the day before because when that alarm had gone off at 6:30 this morning, they had all forgotten about that stupid survival week. Yes, they were not looking forward to it at all. The only good thing about it was the fact they were away from home for a week. All that other stuff, socializing, teamwork, being with people and survivaling, was just plain nonsense and stupid. Every day was survival at this house. Yet Charlie had dragged their body to school allong with the backpack that was filled with different outfits. Most of them genderneutrual, but they had throw in a more feminine outfit, in case they would feel like it. And even a two piece for when they would have that swimming day or assignment, or whatever water related thing was planned.

The second bell had run about a minute ago when Charlie finally strolled into the class room. They gave the teacher a glare and the old male just signed. "Please take your seat, Charlotte." Oh how much they hated that name. The name they had been giving by their parents. So feminine. It caused some cold shivers down their spine as they did dropped the backpack to the ground and sunk into the chair. That scowled expression not once leaving their face, while listening to that explanation. Even if they were late, they did pay attention to whatever was brought up. Though they were not given much information or instructions at all. Then again this was of course a survival week, so they had not expected too much guidance. Envelopes were given out, again with that stupid name. They couldn't wait until they would be able to official change their name.

The teacher was at least smart enough to give their last, since Charlie ripped it open straight away as it got into their hands. "CHAR-" The old man started, only to be interrupted by the bell and thus the starting sign of this. So Charlie raised their eye brow and quickly pulled out the paper. There was just one sentence written on it. Or rather one question. How many bones does the human skull consist of? "How the fuck should I know," they grumbled. Though it was not an unfitting question, considering they normally would have Biology at this moment. They knew human anatomy was covered in chapter eight, but of course, because of this stupid survival trip they had not taken their books with them. Their light colored eyes searched the room for a clue, but the skeleton posters on the wall were by far not detailed enough. And Charlie was not that stupid to believe the skull consisted of only one bone. There had to be t least two, since the jaw was lose from the skull...

In the back of the class stood a bookcase and quickly they got up. "Out of my way," they hissed to one of the smaller girls and gave her a soft push to the side. Nothing that would truly do any harm. They grabbed one of the books from the shelves. The same book as they had at home and quickly opened it on chapter eight. "Skull... skull... skull..." They didn't even notice they were muttering the word over and over again, before finally finding the head, which they had first skipped over in their impatience to find the answer. "Twenty two..." they quickly counted, before pushing the book back and making their way out of the room. Only to come back just a minute later to grab the backpack and be on the way again. They couldn't care less about who else was on the hallway and people better stayed out of their way. Someone called their name, but who ever it was, they were completely ignored.

They looked a bit surprised at all the black vehicles looking around. "How to make survival week seem like a bad kidnap..." They so hoped they were driven straight to whatever place they would stay at, but they doubted it very much. Not that anything at this moment really could improve their mood. They spotted the van that had the big twos on the back and pulled open the door. "Name please..." Charlie didn't even pay any attention to whoever was already in the van as they pushed the button to talk. "Charlie Adams, and don't you dare call me Charlotte one more time!" Nope, they were not in a good mood at all. "Please take a seat," the voice said, unaffected by the threath and out burst. Thus Charlie simply lowered themself on a free spot, before trying to make out who was gonna be part of their group.

Natlie Vanderbuys
Concerned Teenage Brainiac

Finally it was Monday morning. The entire weekend consisted of non-stop theorizing about the blasted survival week. Truth be told, Natalie would have been more excited about it if her powers weren't so unpredictable and embarrassing. Or, even better, if she could control them even a tiny bit. But not even the most intelligent people could completely ignore their emotions so how in the world would she be able? The conflict had been pulling and pushing her all weekend as her brother was nothing but excited for the trip. He is just lucky his powers aren't so invasive. He can do what he wants normally without worrying. Natalie needs to actively try to remain neutral and with a week specifically meant to be exciting and challenging she was not looking forward to the upcoming obstacles she would face. It would be marginally better if she could have her brother to support her when she needed it. She would deal with him being an annoyance otherwise.

Nat had packed a bunch of clothes after much contemplation and asking her brother if he liked how she looked in what she picked. He seemed to have fun with it at first but eventually she was left to her own decisions. She decided to take clothes that she felt good in as opposed to the new things she snagged on their most recent shopping spree. That was mainly because she knew these outfits worked. In addition to her clothes she packed a portable charger and a large power bank. She didn't plan to use her phone much because she was afraid it would break on whatever insane events were planned. Because of this she brought her digital camera, a her go to watch, and all her hygiene needs. There was an entire section of her bag for the deodorant, tooth brush, toothpaste, dry shampoo, regular shampoo and conditioner, and other things she thought she would need.

The second bell rang and Nat was ready to dread the impending speech. It was 8:30am and her coffee still had not kicked in enough to get her to pretend she was ready for survival week. In her peripherals she could see the students by the windows all moving to look outside and a slight hum of cars passing by but she was paying attention to the teacher, as per usual. The English teacher continued to announce, “Gawk all you like but if you miss my instructions and fail to experience survival week that will be your burden to carry for your lives.” The teacher tried to hide their grin with a shrug as everyone returned their attention to them. “Now. We don't have long. Receive your letter and solve the clue when the bell rings to get to your next destination. I will reiterate the rule about no cheating but you may help each other. Best of luck.” The teacher handed each student their envelope and with a minute to spare the tension was thick enough in the room for a dull knife to cut through. The bell rang and the assault of envelopes proceeded. Nat's clue read, Your favorite work from senior year was published in this year. Remember how years are generally referenced. Natalie looked up at the teacher and at that moment received a cordial wink from them. She shook her head with a small smile appearing on her lips before she tried to push the warm consideration away. It was obvious that The Beautiful and the Damned by F Scott Fitzgerald was her favorite read this year and it was no surprise the teacher knew. As Nat gave an affirmative nod at the teacher while grabbing her bags, she was practically swarmed by people asking for help. Her eyes widened as she slowly backed up to rush out of the room, hitting her back against the door frame on the way. “Sorry! Good luck!” She turned and pushed through as many people as she could. Being overwhelmed and having her space invaded could only cause poor results from her power and she was not ready for that to happen to quickly.

Luckily for her the classroom was near the outdoors and even after being momentarily delayed it seemed she was one of a few people ready to board. She looked around at the buses and was annoyed that they didn't seem to be in any specific order as she searched for her magic number. 22. Finally. She saw her bus and let out a sigh of relief as she made her way to it. On the way over she checked her phone casually and saw that her brother texted her. She used her swype feature to respond quickly with 'Twenty two. You?' while looking away from her phone to take her first step onto the buss. She was abruptly asked for her name. “Natalie Vanderbuys.” Her response was immediate. The years of grooming her to introduce herself was ingrained into her head. Once she turned at the top of the few steps she laid eyes on non other than her twin. A rush of stress and stress relief came over her as she looked over to also see Charlotte Adams. Maybe this group was put together especially to torment her? She slipped her phone back into her pocket and used the free hand to gently scratch the side of her head. It was the most nonchalant way she could think to check and make sure her ears weren't transforming. Thankfully she was keeping her emotions in check so she was in the clear. She placed her duffel bag down with enough space between her and the two others before taking off her string backpack and sitting down. She didn't want to sit directly next to anyone but if she had to she would slide closer to her brother. They shared a womb, they could be close to each other. The silence was practically deafening when the voice resonated in the bus and Natalie finally took a moment to realize she couldn't discern where it came from. “21 minutes left.” Nat wanted to take that moment to say something but nothing came to mind. “I... got held up being swarmed by the others in my classroom. Seems like you both had an easier time getting here.”

Victoria Robinson
avian physiology

Victoria had prepared for the week of survival camp early, so come Sunday night all of her essentials were neatly packed up. Monday morning started off like any other day, with her meeting up with her group of friends and chatting idly as they waited for the bell for the first period to ring. Before long they parted ways and headed to their classes. Victoria walked to her homeroom with those who she shared the period with. It was in second period that they prepared to leave for survival week. Victoria strolled into her class with a friend, chuckling as they retold the story of some shenanigans they’d gotten into over the weekend. The young lady was swiftly shushed by the teacher as she took her seat though Victoria merely rolled her eyes.

Upon receiving her envelope Victoria ripped it open and took a look at her question. What is the atomic number of the chemical element Titanium? The question was easy, so she figured out the answer with little trouble. “What bus are you on?” She asked as she turned her attention to her friend. Unfortunately the two of them wouldn’t be on the same bus together. Like those who had also figured out their numbers Victoria left the classroom and entered her assigned vehicle. As soon as she entered a voice suddenly spoke up, startling her slightly and ruffling her feathers. “Name?” The voice was monotone. “Victoria Robinson.” She spoke, her tone was one of boredom

Victoria took a moment to take a look at her group, when her gaze landed on Isaiah she smiled slightly thought it dropped when she nodded at Natalie. At least she wasn’t in a group of complete strangers. She took a seat on the other side of Isaiah, placing her duffle bag and backpack under the bench. Victoria closed her wings a little more as she sat before looking at her group.
“Sup, I thought I was gonna be in a group with complete strangers.”

Cassandra Cobbs
History --> Van

"So, what number did you get?" Cassandra briefly looked up to the person asking her the question. It was her friend, Yvonne, Ivy for short. She was this brute of a woman, surprisingly tall and muscular for her age, like some red-headed amazon from the highlands of Scotland, and dressed like a modern day amazon as well with her full Nike getup. The two of them sat next to each other in Mr. Richmond's AP U.S. History course, and Cassie hated every second of it. Ivy however, was a history nut despite her looks. As the sounds of ripping paper subsided, Ivy briefly scanned her question and snorted to herself. "I got 14."

"I don't fuckin' know yet, take a chill pill." Said the albino, reading over the question posed to her. Which U.S. president served two non-consecutive terms in office? "This is bullshit." An utterance that had become a natural response for just about anything that Cassie had neither the time nor patience for. Ivy raised an eyebrow and silently put her hand out, to which Cassie had thrust the offending paper into.

"This would be very easy if you were paying any attention in class." The giant said with a slight chuckle. "Go fuck yourself." Said the goth, crossing her arms over her slayer t-shirt. Another chuckle. "Look, I'll make it easier for you. Do you watch TV?" She liked to play this game of slowly inching closer to the point of the subject matter through little mental leaps in logic. "Just get to the point Ives." Cassie hated it.

"Things are usually are named after some presidents for various things, whether or not the relation is there. Hoover is a vacuum brand, and also the name of the 31st president. Garfield is a famous-" She elaborated, before being cut off by an impatient Cassie. "Yeah, I get it. It's some sort of character I'd probably know." She scrunched her eyebrows together before she piped up. "Lincoln Logs?" Yvonne shook her head. "Cleveland Brown?" Yvonne nodded her head enthusiastically. "And so, Grover Cleveland was the..." She trailed off, waiting for a response.

"Fuckin', I don't know, 22nd?" Yvonne nodded her head in satisfaction. "That's some bullshit, but it's whatever I guess." By this time, some of the other students were beginning to file out the door. Both girls picked up their bags. Cassie's, an overstuffed nightmare of clothes, snacks and money, and Yvonne's conversely being a small luggage that evoked the sense that it probably wasn't even halfway full.

"Can't we like, trade with somebody else to be on the same bus?" Yvonne gestured to the vans outside and pointed out the men in the back. "That means we'd have to find somebody who isn't on a van already who matches one of the two of us. Plus they're probably checking to make sure everyone gets on the right one. It's only a few weeks, give it a- Hey what the hell are you doing?!" Cassandra had a stream of blood coming from her mouth that quickly died out. "I was gonna like, come up with something as to why I can't come." She said, waving the now bloodied piece of paper. "You should clean that up." The bigger girl said, to which Cassie complied by wiping it off on her sport top. Yvonne punched Cassie on the shoulder, and Cassie punched her back. "Smartass." Both girls held furious eye contact before busting into a fit of giggles. "I'll see ya real soon, okay? We're gonna have to perform after we get back from this, whether you like it or not."

"If we are able to plan a gig out, yes." The albino rolled her eyes. "Why do I hang out with you again?" "You can't get a better drummer than me, and you know that." Yvonne shouldered her friend, which was comparatively brutal to the little love tap she received, knocking the goth into a desk and then making haste for the door. "F-fuckin', you better run, because when I see you again I'm gonna smash your ass!" And the two parted ways in the only way they knew how.

~~~
There it was, Van 22. She walked right up to the back of the black van and saw the man standing there, patiently waiting for her to show up.
"Name?" A devious grin played across her lips for a moment. "So like, I'm not really sure if this is the right van or something but could you like, take me to the right one really quick?" Despite his professional garb, he breathed and audible sigh. "Miss, you were supposed to complete the puzzle related to the class you were in to the clue to your exit van. If you can't complete it, you're not allowed to go." Cassie pouted for a moment, her cheeks growing a slight pink. "Well, can you please help me, it's really hard!" She handed him the bloodstained letter, which he took with some amount of discretion, taking the time to read the clue very carefully, even re-reading it and thinking out loud so that Cassie could follow his thought process. "Should be Grover Cleveland, the 22nd..." He looked back up at her with a mixture of realization and disappointment, in utter contrast to the innocent smile Cassie wore on her face.
He sighed, and handed her back her bloodied piece of paper. "So is this the right place?" She asked politely.
"Yes. Please enter the van." He said in a single breath, stepping aside to let her in. She looked over the assortment of people set before her, mentally trying to identify each of them as she did. Not her, not him, not her, not-
"CHARLIE!"
She shouted excitedly. Finally, she had somebody she could vibe with. Within a few seconds, she had already planted herself next to Charlie, bag just under her bench. "Dude, how've you been? I haven't seen you in a few weeks! Are you excited to be leaving? I know for a fact I sure as hell am." She sat back in the bench, crossing her arms with a satisfied smirk on her face.
"This shit's gonna be cash dude."
The first alarm didn't wake him. Nor did the second normally they would wake him up with a start without fail but working in the garage late last night meant late packing and a late night by the time sleep finally found him...What did pull Keanu from his bed was a three dogs bounding into his bedroom at high speed and jumping on top of him "Hey. Hey. HEY! Let me get up you brutes" He could be heard at a muffled volume under the wagging tails and happy puppy faces. "Morning Rolf" He started as He patted the Husky mix on the back "And Beau" He followed as he gave the large boxer dog the same attention. Shuffling out of the bed and rubbing his face with his hands as he sat on the edge of it before a tiny Maltese made its way onto his lap with a whine "And of course I didn't forget about you, Minnie" he said as he lifted the ball of fluff and gave her a hug before putting the pup on the ground. "Out. the lot of you!" he then began ushering them out of the door and closing it so he could start getting ready to leave for the trip....The trip. His eyes widened as he clambered across the room to grab his phone which had fallen under the bed. Yanking it out he checked the time. "Fuck!" Why didn't he wake up?! He probably had just over worked himself but he couldn't have picked a worse day to do so. Not that he had a choice. He had melted the one part they had needed for a body repair with his abilities by accident and they had to remake the whole thing from scratch.
Rushing through getting ready, he had shoved a few cereal bars into his jacket pocket, grabbed his luggage and legged it to the car. He wasn't extremely late by the time he came to school but he definitely wasn't as early as he would have liked to be. Not to mention he was still pretty hangry. Ah well, he could snack on the way there...maybe nap. Boy he needed it with the pitiful excuse for a nights sleep he had the night before.
He was still trying to his bed hair into place as he was making his way to class only to get smacked on the back by a female student. Long black hair, brown eyes and a bright smile "Ayyy Here I thought you were going to not make it. You were supposed to leave with me this morning you know?" She said with a fake scowl as she now walked alongside him "Ah! Angie! Sorry. Late night at my uncles shop so I must have been too tired to react to my alarms..." he admitted with a sheepish expression with Angie just shaking her head "This is why you'd need me in your group today, Keep an eye on you~" Keanu raised a brow "You? You are like...the worst influence I have in my life" he joked as Angie mocked being offended "When have I EVER-" "The DM" Keanu quickly retorted as Angie shrugged her shoulders "Well excuse me for doing something you didn't have the balls to do" "Oh shut up" he grumbled in response as she just laughed. That wasn't the issue. Okay maybe it was a bit of the issue... But not the most important issue The guy clearly had a girlfriend...He wouldn't have been interested of course. Well. It wasn't like he'd have to see him, right? He was sure he changed his account to private in time. It would be fine...This was a crush. He'd get over it.
Once seated in class he was feeling his concentration begin to slip, remembering he hadn't eaten yet he had pulled out one of the cereal bars. Of course, he got in trouble for this but the morning hangries waited for no man so, when told off he just mumble something about missing breakfast and finished the thing in one bite before tossing out the wrapper in the trash can at the corner of the room. By the time he had made it back to his desk there was an envelope on it. His question for his group number. Why not just give them the number? Whatever. He pried open the envelope and looked inside. An equation. Not big deal. He could handle maths so 22 didn't take long to formulate in his head.
He once again had joined Angie when it was time to leave for their groups and of course she had dramatics when she found out they were in different groups. Of course it would have been nice to have his best friend be with him but he doubted that they would have done anything other that mess around and be idiots when together so maybe it was for the best... He managed to get another cereal bar into his system on the way to the van but he knew he was still hungry. This new ability of his gave him the most ridiculous appetite among other problems. Well he supposed he had more snacks packed... With a sigh he made his way into the van with the voice immediately asking for his name. Spooky. "Keanu Easton" He answered before being let move forward.
It seemed that most seats were already filled...with faces he didn't recognise as he scanned the area his gaze suddenly stopped at a familiar face that he was not expecting. No. no no no no. Anyone but him. Isaiah was here. in his group. Not long after the DM incident. Ugh. Keanu's gaze had lock on him for a brief moment of time before it suddenly darted away. It would be fine. He probably didn't recognise him. Hopefully, if he did he guessed he would need to apologise for the message? or maybe that would be more awkward, He might not have read it at all. Ack! He bet if Angie knew he would hear her cackling from three vans away. He deliberately picked a seat further away as he rubbed his face with his hands to try prevent his cheeks heating up. The last thing he needed on the trip was awkwardness or to figure out he's the only on dwelling on the incident. For now he just wanted to nap. Not deal with this.
caspin levy.
Stark against the milky pink light of an early April morning, there sat the silhouette of a grassy knoll. The sleepy sun shone dimly, disguising the features of the hill, but unmistakable upon it, stretching up into the cool air, was the thin shape and weeping leaves of a plain birch tree.
Beneath this tree, atop a grassy hillock, nestled within a valley of babbling streams and white flowers, there was a boy. He sat with his back to the bark and his knees drawn up to his chest. He seemed to be milling about in the dew-y morning air, his nose turned up toward the clouds and the canopy of the tree.
The boy on the hillside happened to be Caspin Levy, who'd found himself swathed in a pleasant dream, which almost felt like reality. He was acutely aware of the embrace of the breeze trailing along his arms, and he breathed deeply the sweet scent of morning dew on the leaves. This idyllicism was often stranger to Caspin, whose nights were typically chaotic and hardly restful. Tonight however, for as long as was allowed, Caspin would drift blissfully in gentle reverie.
Then, there was a sound. A quiet sound, though not peaceful like the flow of a brook or birdsong; it resembled a rumble deep within the soil. It began almost unnoticeable: a muted pounding from inside of the birch tree, in tandem with the placid beating of Caspin's heart. But as the clouds crawled across the sky, it grew deeper, thundering in the rings of the tree, at last loud enough to steal Caspin's attention. He turned to study the tree.
Its exterior was unchanged. Despite this, Caspin's focus was fixed to the old birch and its imposing rhythm. His eyes caught a shard of bark poking from the far side. He struggled to grasp it, his hands shaking terribly, but he was finally able to peel it away from the trunk. For a moment, the pale flesh underneath was visible, but as though he had removed a stopper or a cork, a thick rivulet of bright red oozed from the opening. As it dribbled down the trunk, the heartbeat in the tree grew louder. Eventually, with every thump, the gnarled birch trembled, loosing yet more chips of speckled white bark. The beating, coupled with the din of shivering leaves, had become deafening - Caspin reeled back, startled; he lifted a hand and flicked his wrist toward the trunk, to force the spilling blood back inside, and to his terror, he succeeded, weakly splashing what had been revealed to be human blood against its skin. It continued to pour, the noise overwhelming, and haplessly Caspin cried out for help ---
He found himself staring at the writing desk adjacent to his bed. The pounding from before had followed him into reality, though it lost its unsettling bass for a shrill, robotic pitch; Caspin realised with a surge of discontent that he had been listening to his morning alarm.
It's still on? Now destined for a grumpy day, Caspin unceremoniously dragged himself out of bed and onto his feet. Across the room, on the desk, lay his cell phone, ever blaring; at last he reached it and impatiently shut off the alarm. For one day, could the world just stop?
He wasted no time dwelling on his disconcerting dream, as peculiarities seemed to come naturally to Caspin (in his dream-scape, at least - and what a shame it is, losing his only truly safe place to the ever-present nagging of the waking world's anxieties), and this was no different. It was merely the precursor to yet another utterly average Monday in April, which Caspin would spend completely miserable...
Oh, hang on a minute. There was something important going on during a Monday in April. His mother had made a habit of reminding him, but it's just like Caspin to forget entirely. Considering how little interest he had in it that it's slipped his mind, it can't be something he'd enjoy doing or volunteered for himself.
Exams? Couldn't be. Caspin vividly remembered just scraping by his arithmetic final at most a week ago. No holidays, no commitments, no tutoring, no school... Well, school, maybe? The year was still wrapping up. Mostly things he didn't care enough to attend, like awards ceremonies or fun day-out activities.
... oh.
Oh, for fuck's sake, oh my God! You must be kidding!
Caspin released a long, loud, agonised groan, dramatically throwing his arms over his face. Of course there had to be some big, dumb week-long retreat on a Monday morning, right after a week full of tests, as if Caspin wasn't exhausted enough. If he were any more worse for wear, he might have broken down crying then. The absolute last thing he pictured himself doing on a day like today was cramming himself in a hot van with his insufferable schoolmates, and eventually stuffed in a tiny cabin in the middle of Buttfuck, Nowhere with those same infernal schoolmates. The very idea is hell.
With an excruciating lethargy, Caspin plodded through getting ready. He meandered around in the shower, dozing in its warmth, fought off the urge to scream into his cereal bowl, and threw on the first outfit he could scrounge up. Finally, Caspin seized a canvas bag full of clothing and spare commodities, which had been left in a corner of the room for nearly the entire week. As an afterthought, he retrieved a small ring-backed sketchbook and his ukulele, nestled in a case comically printed with pop-color pineapples and hibiscus flowers, (he'd rather than die than carry that case around in public, but it was a gift, and he's not that much of an asshole).
As he descended the staircase for the last time that day, he grumbled, "this is going to be torturous."
"I know, but you promised me you'd go," at the bottom of the stairs, his mother intercepted him. "Just try and have fun, okay? Make some friends. It'll be all nature-y, the way you like." She was beaming, but she didn't look as hopeful as she'd tried to sound.
Caspin sighed. "Right. Okay," and for the first time in a long while, his mother swept him up into a hug. At first Caspin flinched away from her, his emotions conflicting and running rampant, but just as quickly as he'd leaned away, Caspin melted into her embrace, wrapping his arms tightly around her shoulders. She rubbed tiny circles into the back of his shirt.
"I love you," she said. It had felt like forever since she'd told him. On this Monday in April, he believed her strongly, and as swiftly and unexpectedly as the storm rolls in, his confidence arrived, and Caspin Levy was newly ready for anything that blasted retreat could throw at him. But despite all of this, that anxiety, curse it, still throbbed in his stomach, and it piped up then to theorize the many ways which it could all go wrong and how deeply he could disappoint his mother, yet again. His chest constricted, and Caspin coughed suddenly into his mother's blouse. She ducked away then, to look him in the eye, and as she parted her lips to reassure him, the two of them noticed at once the fresh red smudge on her shirt.
She gasped, "Oh, you bled on me," barely able to contain her fright; she rushed in the direction of the bathroom before he could apologize, before he could promise her once again he'd never hurt her, if only for her to once again say, cryptically, 'not on purpose.'
Uncertainty hung in the hair like a thick, angry fog, and just like that, this Monday morning in April was again an ever-festering nightmare like all the rest. Caspin gathered his things and promptly left. The brisk walk from the front porch to his homeroom was tense and sullen. Caspin's strides were quick, contained, and somehow conveyed his hurt through the short, sharp sound of his shoes on the sidewalk. He arrived outside to find the school itself just on the verge of empty - all the students inside had spilled out into the lot outside, which was populated with large, suspicious-looking black vans. Caspin stared, scrutinizing them. Is this a nature retreat or an abduction? How can anyone be looking forward to this? He scoffed to himself and entered the building. His homeroom, a small laboratory where he'd studied chemistry, had been completely cleared out. From its position in the building, he could clearly see, out of the windows of the lab, the transporter-filled lot and the menagerie of students milling about around them. Perhaps he could conveniently miss his ride to the cabin..? The thought was tempting, but he'd promised his mother he'd attend this year, for once. He tried to swallow the frog in his throat.
Someone cleared their throat. "You're late, mister Levy." On impulse, Caspin shot an ill-tempered glance toward the source, only to find himself glaring at his teacher, who sat at her desk holding a white envelope. She extended her hand, containing the letter, toward him. "Here's your puzzle. You're lucky it's not too tough, or you might be left behind!" She grinned, and with a humbled nod, Caspin accepted it.
He tore the top open and yanked out the folded paper. 'What is the atomic mass of the transition metal 'titanium?'' Caspin raised an eyebrow, flicking his eyes toward his teacher. "I thought we were done with the 'school' part." He dug around in his coat pocket for his cell phone.
She sighed. "Oh, come on. It won't kill you."
A five-second Google search resulted in the number 'twenty-two.' Caspin darted to the window and craned his neck, trying to see if he could spot the van from the lab. He squinted, trying to make out the numbers painted on the sides. "Just go and find it," his teacher said, amused by his behavior. He tapped the heel of his shoe against the floor nervously. What, and have to stumble through a huge crowd of idiots? He bit back the sharp retort.
Finally, he spied the number on the other side of the lot, partially hidden by another van. On his way out, he crumpled up his puzzle and tossed it into the trash bin. Now that he knew where it was, the trip to the van was a breeze. He expertly sidestepped groups of unaware students discussing their own equations, making a beeline for a painted white '22.' He arrived at the doors without much of an entrance, and had closed his hand around the handle on the left side when a booming voice rang out, "your name?"
Caspin narrowed his eyes. "Shouldn't you know this by now?"
"Don't be smart," the voice barked.
He shoved his hands in his pockets and grumbled, "Caspin Levy." With that, the doors swung open, nearly bumping into Caspin's nose. He hissed, "watch it!" and clambered inside. He took a seat as far from the others as he could, but it wasn't the largest of vans, maybe designed to fit ten people at maximum, so Caspin ended up, unfortunately, sat next to a fellow in a red jacket, who seemed to have had a similar idea of staying out of the action. He huffed, displeased, and crossed his arms over his chest. He hated the feeling of being the newcomer, getting looked over by folks who had no business looking him over. They were most likely disappointed to find their newest cabin-mate hadn't turned out to be someone they knew, or, worst case scenario, turned out to be Caspin Levy, who's got a monstrous ability, don't you know; he's a brute, he could turn you inside out, et cetera.
God, this was going to suck hard.
OOC | Hey, sorry this is so ungodly long and rambly; my first posts always are. They'll be more digestible in the future, I promise. It just felt kind of wrong to leave anything out. I wanted to take this chance to personify Caspin & part of his family dynamic as best as I could without writing a novel, because I feel like my CS was kind of lacking. I hope it's an enjoyable read at least.
Stark against the milky pink light of an early April morning, there sat the silhouette of a grassy knoll. The sleepy sun shone dimly, disguising the features of the hill, but unmistakable upon it, stretching up into the cool air, was the thin shape and weeping leaves of a plain birch tree.
Beneath this tree, atop a grassy hillock, nestled within a valley of babbling streams and white flowers, there was a boy. He sat with his back to the bark and his knees drawn up to his chest. He seemed to be milling about in the dew-y morning air, his nose turned up toward the clouds and the canopy of the tree.
Location: Unknown, inside vehicle 22 to a mystery destination.
Interaction: Nate iShyShy iShyShy , Tori {text and personal} erzulie erzulie , The group in general.
Outfit: Stars and bag
After his sister, he changed to his chat with his girlfriend. He hesitated for a moment, something holding him back. Ever since that DM, ever since that confusion that had started within... He should have a talk with Tori. He knew she would understand, that was not the problem. But still it had to hurt. They had the perfect relationship. They never had any real fights, though they did bicker when Tori gave him some reality checks or pressed his nose onto his unawareness of his white privilege. He was grateful for them though, truly. 'You better not be grouped up with some hot' He shocked when the doors of the van suddenly opened without warning and his thumb tapped the screen, sending off that half typed text. His eyes taking in the individual that came in, obviously not a morning person or not a fan of surprises. They seemed to be the rather oppoite of him.
His lips parted to greeted her when suddenly the text of his sister came in and his smile brightened from that concerned expression his face had been in. They were in the same group! The physical answer came immediately after when those doors opened and no one less than his twin came in. "So am I!" he answered out loud to the question she had send. He wanted to hug her, but that subtle scratch to her head was enough to let him know she was having powertroubles. Or was concerned for having them, so he didn't want to put extra pressure on it. He did not even have the change to say much as those doors opened and the wings gave her immediately away if her beautiful smile hadn't already. His little Angel. "I was just about to text you." Though one glance down at his phone told him he already had send that half sentence. He put the device away with a soft chuckle as she sat down next to him. His arms sliding around her waist to hold her. He had quickly learned how to work around her wings and still be able to hold her close to him. "Guess you are grouped up with the hottest man of the school after all," he spoke jokingly. Yes, confidence was never really a problem with Isaiah Vanderbuys. Though others have called it arrogance, pride and vanity.
Slowly but surely more people came into the van, they sure would be an interesting group. He glanced over towards his sister every now and then, checking how she was holding up with all these different people and their emotions in such a small confined space. He was worried about her, but she did seem to be handling it all fine. Furthermore he didn't want to put the whole groups attention on her, she hated that kind of thing. His blue eyes traveled over the other people that had come in. He recognized most of them, and he was pretty sure most of them knew who he was. He was a rather popular kid at the school, and if they did not know him from that, he was also very active on Instagram and TikTok. His follower count growing more and more each day, something he was very proud of. He looked over their group, a very diverse group. Three males, four females and Charlie, who didn't identify as either. He always tried to be as respectful as he could of that, but he was sure he was gonna fuck up at least once a day, if not more.
The doors of the van suddenly locked and there were two loud bangs on the back of it, before the vehicle started up and suddenly took off at a not too slow pace. "Guess we are doomed to spend the rest of the week together then," he joked towards the group. Everything seemed to still be a bit tense and he hated that kind of situations. He liked to just have things be relaxed and joking, just because that was easier and because it made things easier for Nate. "I guess I don't really have to introduce myself, but still here it goes. I am Isaiah Vanderbuy. Over there is my baby sister, Natalie." As always he loved pointing out how he was the older twin. Even if it were just by two minutes. "I identify as a cis-male and would like the pronouns he and him to be used," he added in that part for Charlie. Though where he normally he would mention his straightness as well, he left that out this time. It just felt wrong to say he was straight. Was he even straight? "And I am very much looking forward to this week. Though other than being in great physical shape, I will probably be useless for survival." He didn't mind pointing that out. Though he could take care of himself in a normal kitchen with store bought products, he had no idea how much they were going back to the basics for this. So he just thought it was best to warn anyone, right? "Also I am planning on documenting all of the week for my Insta-stories, so if you have a problem with that, please let me know. I will try not to get you on camera. And of course, I will not post anything without permission if anyone else than me is in it!" He just wanted that to be out the way immediately.
Charlie Adams
Healing
Location: In the back of van 22
Interaction: Cassandra archur archur , Caspin Levy PJ-Flash PJ-Flash , the driver / Keanu Nona Nona
Outfit: Rebelious and Butterflies
Oh fun, if that was self-proclaimed prince of the school himself. Charlies mood hardly got any better at the sight of the other person in the van. What was even worse? Both his twin sister and his girlfriend joining in. Random groups, yeah of course, money could influence that apparently. Not that they had anything personal against those two. They didn't really talk with them or anything like that. They had to admit their eyes stayed a bit longer on that butterfly bag of the twin sister than necessary, before averting their gaze again. Charlie avoided almost everyone equally. Life was just easier that way. They were looking to make friends or anything like that. They were gonna leave this shithole behind as soon as possible anyway, so what would be the use of having any friends? They grumbled away in their little corner, not at all minding that. They liked the peace and quiet until their name suddenly was called, no, shouted even, by the new person entering. They rolled their eyes as the albino entered the van and plopped right down next to them.
"Could you please be any more louder and energetic?" they complained as the other started a flood wave of words. Yes, being Charlies friend meant tough love. Very tough love. Though the fact they answered to the female and didn't shove her away was a sure enough sign that Charlie didn't mind it all too much. "I could have used a couple more weeks away from you," they simply talked back. They shook their head as the other seemed genuine excited about this whole survival week. They sighed, before finally turning their head to actually look at the other. "Perhaps I can just get lost in the woods, or where ever they are taking us and leave for good." They were joking of course, though... their parents would not really care. Other than the fact their maid and punch bag was suddenly gone. It mattered not, they would return. Just a few more months. Just to the end of this school year. Then they would graduate and off they went, to where ever they could find a job that was far enough away. They cared little for where they would end up. It couldn't possible be worse than it was now.
Charlie observed the other people that came in. The quiet boy, another quiet boy. Though one with quite the reputation. Just like they had. Though for very different reasons. Where Charlie was a healer, Caspin Levy was the very opposite, a blood bender. Where Charlie was seen as the good, the holy, Caspin was seen as the evil, Satan himself. They had heard all those rumors, the mumbling under the breath. Even though Charlie had never considered their power as a good thing, and if people saw the horror it could bring... They doubted they would be any better off that Caspin. Yet for now, everyone still clung to that idea and how ironic it was for a 'violent' being such as Charlie to have such a supportive power. "Welcome to the weird side of the van," they spoke with a hint of a genuine smile on their face. They didn't care how rude it was to literally talk behind someones back, as the first quiet boy sat between them and Caspin, who had taken his resisdence in the other corner of the van. It wasn't often that Charlie Adams started a conversation, but honestly, they were truly fascinated by the male and his extraordinary 'horrific' power.
The moment of slightly looking forward to this trip was however short lived as the car suddenly started driving. It threw them off balance and thus they bumped into the male next to them. "Jesus. What the fuck is your problem?!" The words meant towards the driver who so suddenly took off without the slightest bit of warning. Not towards the male next to them that couldn't help it anyway. Charlie sat up back straight again, this time planting their feet firmer to the ground as there was no way to tell what turns the car would take with no windows on the side. Was it even legal to transport them like this? They couldn't care any less though. Yet their annoyance was back to an all time high again, when no one less that the little prince decided to grab everyones attention with an introduction round that just dripped with arrogance. They scoffed and stayed silent. Cass could introduce them if that was really so necessary.
Natlie Vanderbuys
Concerned Teenage Brainiac
Natalie was followed onto the bus by none other than Vicky, or Tori, as most knew her, but Natalie preferred Vicky for a number of reasons. Everyone knows her because of her power and because she is dating Isaiah. The perfect relationship, high school sweethearts, literally flaunted in front of her eyes at all times of consciousness. Was it true love? Nat had no real idea but with how on top of each other they always were it sure seemed like it. Why would you let someone into your personal space and comfort zone otherwise? As Vicky walked onto the bus and greeted both her and her brother, the clear change of mood from mildly content to partially annoyed ran over her face like a paintbrush. Vicky's smile dropped so fast once her and Nat locked eyes and if Natalie didn't have decorum she would have gladly rolled her eyes but instead she simply threw up a peace sign in response to the head nod while sitting back in the chair, barely putting effort into the motion. Two full minutes barely passed when Isaiah was already gloating about his looks and Natalie wished she could tell her brother to shut up.
Time was ticking as members of the group gradually made their way onto the bus. At first Natalie would have thought the randomness of the groups was a sham but it did seem like there was at least some attempt at mixing things up. It's not like people who see each other for the better part of four years wouldn't at least be familiar with each other. Even so, Natalie was overly focused on trying to keep her powers in check as best as she could She tried to distract herself with looking out the window but since they had yet to depart there was only the sight of other buses. Boring. When Cassandra got onto the bus and toyed with the driver in the most immature of manners, Natalie let her head lay back so she could close her eyes. Oh my god I may actually lose my mind this weekend. She held this position until the thwumping sound of the doors closing let her know that it was time to go.
With a subtle scan of the other group members on the bus, Natalie's eyebrows raised as she noticed that the quiet, hunk of hunkiness boy Keanu Easton was on the bus. He seemed to be stressing about something or maybe waking himself up after not sleeping? Who really knew. Nat didn't let her gaze linger for long as she took in her surroundings. Cassandra, the albino with mixed powers and a mouth to fit the gothiest punk kid was a welcome sight. Even if they may get on Nat's nerves at times, she would just take the space she needed. Charlie was going to be avoided as much as possible because Nat was not going to allow herself to get pulled into a friendship to be vulnerable just to be shattered a moment later. Nat's heart sank with stress and pity as her eyes made her way to Caspin, the demonic monster of the school who had no choice in the title. She could empathize with him to an extent but her power was not even a fraction as bad as his. Then there was the silent Amir, a kind soul who almost seemed to be best described as languid at any time. His general indifference was something Nat envied at times but she wasn't sure she could stay sane if she was in his shoes.
Once the bus started moving, Charlie bumped into the essence of hunk Keanu from the jolt of movement. It was pretty hilarious to watch the outburst and Natalie stifled a giggle. Of course as the bus started getting moving Isaiah took it upon himself to get the group talking. Nat knew he wouldn't be able to sit in the tense silence. She couldn't help herself when he made his initial joke. “Well I have an advantage because I live with you already. I can give people survival tips for that at least if need be.” She cocked an eyebrow at her brother while smirking at him before she could realize she had spoken up. Most people wouldn't expect that kind of comment coming out of her but it was so normal for her to have banter with Isaiah that her body reacted automatically. Thankfully he just kept speaking so the moment would be lost. Yet he seemed to be even more annoying with his proposition at introductions. Nat sat up with a small sigh, planting her palms on the seat at either side of her body. Taking the spotlight for a moment was the last thing she wanted but she also didn't want to make everyone suffer when they clearly didn't have to. “Are we really going to go through the whole cringy ice breaker thing when we should know each other? We've been going to school together for years.” She sighed and crossed one leg over the other. “I just want to clarify that you are BARELY barely older than me and if anything you're the baby.” Natalie readjusted herself to hold her bags so they wouldn't fall all over the place as they were taking a turn. “That being said, I'm glad to see everyone here and hope we can have a great week together even though I'm honestly nervous going into it.” She turned to Vicky who was still being held in Isaiah's lap. “Vicky you're in charge of keeping him under control this week. I am not claiming him.” With that statement she sat back, knowing that even though she said she wouldn't claim him, she knew she couldn't help but bug, correct, and talk to her brother. They are siblings, after all. After so much talking she could feel her body heating up. Natalie sat back again and tried to lull herself into the emotional void to stop herself from getting fiery red eyes or having her nails turn into claws. Not yet, she was not going to lose control this early.
Keanu slid down on his chair a little, almost tempted to glance over at the blonde haired male that had caught him off guard by his presence. No. Bad idea. He didn’t seem bothered by Keanu’s presence or even seem to recognize him. That was definitely a feeling of relief. Isaiah was popular. Really popular. He probably got messages like that all the time from people, right? So bold of Keanu to assume that he wouldn’t just brush it off and assume he was some random fan or a bot or something. Yeah. That’s what he’d tell himself. Without realizing he had began to shift his gaze over God dammit he was staring again! He needed to stop doing that! He should just act normal and only approach him if he absolutely had to. Yeah. That’ll work. Stop staring at the guy.
This train of though was enough to keep Keanu calm. Good thing too. The last thing he needed was his powers set off and he could already feel the numbness tingling at his hands ever so slightly. Enough of a warning to let him know to relax and be his usual self. He had pulled out another cereal bar to snack on before setting off. Was this his third? He did not keep count anymore. This new metabolism coming with his abilities was a pain, yeah he could eat and not get fat but it also mean it was hard to keep what weight he had and he hated being hungry so often it probably made him look like a weirdo. In fact his bag was probably filled with more snacks than clothes at this point and with such a side effect one could imagine that a week of survival would be something he would gently refer to as hell.
Not long after he had settled in his seat was he joined by more students. He guessed no seats were going to waste in this van which meant seat buddies. The first two were Charlie Adams and Cassandra Cobbs. Two that stood out for their looks for sure with Cassandra’s striking albino features and Charlie’s style and general vibe of “I’m going to punch you if you chew too loud” Having such a seat buddy was most likely going to make things a little less comfortable but hey. Maybe they weren’t as standoffish as they seemed? He hoped.
The other was someone he knew only by reputation. Caspin Levy. The blood bender. To be fair it was definitely an unsettling power but he as far as Keanu was aware gossip he heard from Angie and his other friends was more what he could do, not what he has actually done so he couldn’t really pass a judgement on if he was going to be a danger or not. That and the gossip he heard was of no interest to him and wasn’t exactly retained so chances were he forgot half of what was said anyways. In response to Caspin sitting beside him he had offered a quick smile in greeting and tucked his bag under his seat so it wouldn’t get in the way. Now left to silently hope that being stuck between the two wouldn’t be a problem since he wasn’t too sure either of them were fond of talking and talking was his crutch to keep the atmosphere calm when things seemed a little awkward around him and what apparently gave people the impression he was a calm individual. Ah well. Maybe he could just keep quiet and finish the cereal bar he was holding, it was one of his favourite flavours. Maybe he could just focus on that.
Though that was to be ripped from him too apparently as the van suddenly took off without warning and Charlie had bumped right into him. That had already gave him a bit of a start but Charlie’s outburst added to the surprise and within an instant his hands went numb and his beloved snack was suddenly nothingness as his ability had been kickstarted and changed it from a solid to gas.“Ah! S-Sorry!” He stammered out despite knowing it was 100% the drivers fault. Well he had to say a sudden goodbye to his breakfast, being surrounded threw his nap plans out of the window and his seat buddy may or may not be angry at him as well as the driver. At this point he was almost wondering if he managed to pick the wrong side of the van but as soon as introductions were starting at the opposite side of the van he was thanking his stars that he had joined the weird side. He was not looking forward to if he was made take a turn at it so for now he was instead silently watching the twins that really didn’t need an introduction let everyone know who they were. More than glad that Natalie was offering the option of not announcing who each of them were, a response that pulled a light smile from him. The last thing he needed right now was attention pulled onto him.
Cassandra Cobbs
Van --> Van with l o s e r s in it
The interesting thing about people, were that they usually liked to hear themselves talk. A lot. Like, waaaay too much, to such an extent that others found them annoying. Cassie barely knew anybody in the van by the time it started moving, asides from Charlie, her new best friend. The boy next to BestFriend#2 seemed to be a weirdo nervous wreck, which is usually what happened when people figuratively -and in this case literally- crashed into the brick wall that was Charlie. With the van lurching forwards without any warning, and the pretense of an introduction being forced out of everyone sitting in the van, Cassie had to find a really good reason as to why she wouldn't try and ruin this for everyone else.
Maybe, she could just make it more fun? For her, specifically.
She decided to take a room scan, leaning forwards to gauge everyone else's general mood. Charlie seemed dead inside, as per usual Charlie. Snackless had no snack, which would drop anybody's vibe down to the negatives. Maybe his power had something to do with eating? There was some thin kid sitting by the door, also dead inside and maybe a little pissed off. Seemed to be a common theme.
The other side of the van, directly across from her, was the (presumably, unless one of those two had no respect for themselves) better half of the incredibly obnoxious Isaiah Vanderwhatever. Holy shit, did this guy make her skin boil with how annoying she found him. Cassandra found herself to be self important, rude, and otherwise unpleasant to be around, but she was very deeply aware of this. She grew to attempt to be better, or heavily lean into being an insufferable asshole just to piss somebody off (for her own amusement of course), but this guy, Isaiah, wasn't aware that he was all of these things, and more. She hoped to talk to him as little as possible during this lengthy trip.
Her skin bubbled with her temper as she stared at Isaiah, before she finally simmered and finished her scan with whomever the girl sitting next to Isaiah was. She also looked dead inside, but for different reasons than the other two on her side of the van were. 3/7 of the sardines pressed together in this mobile tin can seemed to not give a fuck for varying reasons, not counting herself.
"I guess I don't really have to introduce myself, but still here it goes. I am Isaiah Vanderbuy. Over there is my baby sister, Natalie."
Cassie felt something coming on, and it definitely was going to be very immature.
She leaned into the bench and threw her head back, like a child throwing a tantrum, her cheeks briefly sprouting holes like beehives before turning into a slurry of skin as her flesh seemed to melt off her body, slowly pooling around her feet and her seat in a grotesque combination of human blood and tissue. She lay slack jawed as this happened, eyes bulging outwardly.
"hI, my nAmE is iSAiaH vAndErBuYs, i hAvE SEVENTEEN THOUSAND iNstAgRaM foLLoWeRs aNd am PERFECT iN evERy wAy!" She rasped, as if her outer state reflected inwardly too.
And then, all at once, the melting stopped. In the blink of an eye, Cassie wasn't nearly a skeleton screaming it's final cursed words as a crude insult to Isaiah, it was just an incredibly agitated looking Cassandra Cobbs, still leaning back in her seat, eyes locked with Isaiah. "That's you." She sat up completely, leaning forwards to get his attention.
"Nobody fuckin' asked, and to be honest, I'm pretty sure nobody cares about names until we're assigned bunk-mates or whatever, so let's cut the bullshit. Unless you really got something important to say, I'd really like to keep interaction to a minimum, especially from you, Vanderbitch." She pointed an accusatory finger at him before she sunk back into her seat entirely disinterested in continuing the conversation, a party sized bag of bbq chips in on hand, her phone in the other. She kept the bag in between her legs so it wouldn't make a mess all over the van, she was pretty sure they weren't supposed to bring snacks like this along, but fuck the rules, she did what she wanted. She opened her phone up with one hand, and went back to surfing the web, irrespective of the world around her.
Victoria Robinson
avian physiology
“Oh? I thought that he was in bus 23.” Victoria's tone was completely serious before she chuckled to let Isaiah know that she was joking. Honestly she couldn’t deny that he was attractive but she enjoyed messing with him because of his arrogance. She didn’t way any mind to whoever else had gotten on the bus, seeing as she only really knew three people. Speaking of Victoria turned her attention towards Amir for a moment to nod at him in greeting before turning her attention back to Isaiah. Victoria shifted a little to get comfortable. After a bit of trail and error the two of them had found a way to sit close together without discomfort. Though when the bus suddenly took off her feathers were ruffled, literally.
Despite how long they’ve dated Victoria still couldn’t get used to how outgoing her boyfriend was. She preferred her small group of friends and didn’t have any plans on adding any new ones to the bunch. Victoria looked to Natalie when she spoke up. The teen couldn’t help but smirk at her, she clearly knew how much of a hand full her twin could be and had no plans on dealing with it. She ignored the fact that Natalie had called her Vicky in favor of speaking. “Why should I? This trip will be more entertaining if I don’t.”
Victoria went to speak again but paused, turning her attention to whoever was talking. Though that was a mistake on her part as she watched flesh melting. Her disgust was quickly replaced by annoyance. While she was sure that her boyfriend could defend himself Victoria had always been told that her mouth had a mind of its own. “Now that you're throwing your little bitch fit. If you didn’t feel like introducing yourself you could have just kept your mouth shut. Ya know, instead of letting the entire bus know that you don’t care. Which I’m pretty sure they don’t care about that either.” Victoria looked her up and down, clearly unimpressed with her attitude. “Dramatic ass.” She shook her head and looked back to Isaiah. “Yeah I don’t mind you filming, I’m used to it by now. Just make sure I look good.” She joked.
caspin levy.
The first person to capture Caspin's attention sat no more than a seat over. All things considered, he'd half-expected to be caught off-guard by some meaningless conversation involving all the socialites sitting across from him, but as it happened, he was addressed directly. Caspin wasn't really sure how he felt about that. Generally he tried to stray from small talk, so it suffices to say that he's not accustomed to it.
His eyes darted over to the source of the voice, and he was surprised to find it came from Charlie Adams, who seemed more likely to punt him through the windshield than say hello. They just didn't strike him as the chatting type. He'd thought it more plausible the guy in the red shirt, nervous as he looked, would try to spark up a conversation. Even more baffling, Charlie was most likely already aware of Caspin's reputation. Most people who knew about him didn't bother with that kind of thing. Did they actually want to talk to him? Or did they just pity him?
"Thanks," he mumbled. He'd feel pretty guilty if he left them hanging like that. "Good to know I won't be too out of place."
For the most part, he'd settled in fine. It'd be a long, cramped road ahead, but Caspin was convinced he could handle it.
Yep. Everything was peachy-keen.
Until, of course, Isaiah Vanderbuys straightened up in his seat (which is never a good sign; it means he's got something planned) and opened his mouth. Before he'd even finished speaking, Caspin felt his eyes roll as far back into his skull as they could. Did he really need to toss on this professional persona for a camping trip? It's not like they're headed to White House, dude. Even more pretentious was his following statement, highlighting his ripped bod like it's a Tinder bio. Ugh. We get it, mate. You're an alpha male. You've got a girlfriend and a bunch of Instagram followers. Sit down.
What irked Caspin most of all was the whole Instagram thing. He thought it was stupid that Isaiah felt the need to update thousands of strangers on the internet on how his week's going. And even stupider was the idea that thousands of strangers on the internet care how his week is going. But top-tier, unfiltered, unbelievable stupid? Filming other people, too.
"Don't film me," said Caspin, or rather, he intended to, as the van suddenly jerked forward and sent poor Charlie careening into red shirt cereal bar guy, who, as per the laws of physics, bumped into Caspin's shoulder. Shocked, Caspin sputtered and choked on his words. At the moment of impact, Caspin was struck with a sweet, breakfast-y scent, like a spritz of oatmeal perfume. Startled and confused, he looked toward his seatmate, the boy in the red shirt, who upon closer inspection, seemed to have lost his cereal bar. It must have fallen out of his grip during the kerfuffle. He checked the floor of the van. "My bad," said Caspin, but it wasn't really anyone's fault. He paused for a moment, then his face seemed to spark with an idea. He was supposed to try his best to 'make friends' during this trip, and though it was a bit uncomfortable, his tiny lizard brain saw this as an opportunity. Caspin retrieved his bag from beneath the seat and began to dig around in it. It was packed to the brim and hadn't really been organised, so it probably looked like searching for a needle in a haystack, but Caspin certainly knew what he was looking for and had a vague idea of where it could be.
It didn't take very long for him to retrieve a brand-name granola bar of the apple-cinnamon variety. Wordlessly at first, he handed it to Keanu. He then realised it would probably be weird if he didn't say anything.
"Take it. It's fine."
Neither of them were really given any time to react. One of the more striking-looking bus-goers had gone and made her presence very, very hard to ignore. Above all else Caspin wished he hadn't looked at her. Like most of the people in the van, she was a total stranger to Caspin, so he'd thought he'd gone completely insane when he saw her fucking face melting into a puddle on the floor. Instinctively, he lifted his feet to avoid having them dipped in gore. It became obvious after a little while that she hadn't actually become soup, but the fright never left. For what felt like much too long afterward, Caspin sat with his knees pulled up and an expression best described as 'incredulous.' He studied her face, still not convinced that what had happened was a quirk of her ability and not just Caspin hallucinating. It didn't seem so unrealistic that the visions he'd seen so often in his dreams would eventually sneak up on him in the waking world.
Fortunately, Isaiah's winged beau spoke up and confirmed he hadn't just dreamed up a skeleton woman. All it really did for Caspin was ensure the whole group wasn't looking at him like some meth-head. The one thing that might draw their attention, now that Cassandra's outburst had ended, would be the pretty crimson color of blood, dripping from his nose.
And oh, boy, it's just one disaster after another, isn't it. The bleed was naught more than a little stress drizzle - not enough to stain your shirt, enough to warrant a tissue or two. He's not concerned with that. If you're Caspin Levy, most of your clothes have some bloodstains. But if anyone happened to see it before it ended - well, would you want to be trapped in a moving vehicle with someone you were led to believe could pull your blood out of your body without lifting a finger?
He tried to find his bag again, but his hands were shaking terribly. He couldn't find the box of tissues he was sure he'd packed. And all this worry wouldn't help the bleeding. Caspin hoped it wasn't plain to see on his face that he was contemplating jumping out of a window and rolling into a ditch. Because he certainly was. He also hoped he didn't look like he was about to start de-blooding people.
Worst day ever.
Plant Manipulation
Amir was starting to believe that this whole trip was a mistake. He could have been at home, working and tattooing instead of being stuck on the bus with his classmates. If only he had the power to turn back time. They had only just pulled off and the drama had started. He wouldn’t lie and say that he hadn’t seen it coming though. Honestly he had thought that Victoria would be the one to pop off first. He knew how blunt and protective she could be.
Thankfully for him he hadn’t gotten an eye full of whatever had caused the group to react like they did. Instead he had been staring out the window, attempting to drown out all the sounds around him. However, it was a futile attempt seeing as how loud some of the others were. Amir ran a hand through his short locs, running over the flowers that were a permanent part of his hair. He had stopped trying to cut them a long time ago. Each time they’d grow back, and a different color at that.
When Amir turned in his seat he noticed something from the corner of his eye. Turning fully he watched as the boy next to him looked through his bag with shaking fingers. He looked pale and ready to either pass out or throw himself off the bus. Amir frowned slightly before unzipping his own bag and reaching inside. Thankfully he had packed paper towels for the trip. He nudged the boy with the roll gently. “Here, pinch your nose and lean forward a little. It should stop...”
Sensory Manipulation
Location: Unknown, inside vehicle 22 to a mystery destination.
Interaction: Albino chick archur archur , Tori erzulie erzulie and Nate iShyShy iShyShy
Outfit: Stars and bag
Of course, Natalie reacted to his introduction by stating how they were so unnecessary since they had gone to the same school the past few years. Sure, that was true and he recognized all their faces. Yet most names were completely lost on him. Despite the very big social circle he was part of, these people in the van were mostly unknown to him. He knew some nicknames and some rumors, but most of them weren’t really that nice. So he would just stick with the ‘hey you’ for now, until he had figured out the names. Unsurprisingly she followed up with the words he was barely older, but even though it was only by two minutes, she was still his baby sister. The real surprising reaction to his words came from across of him as the albino chick threw her head back, before it just… melted? His eyes widened, but not in shock and disgust as most reaction around him. That looked rather wicked! His grin grew amused as she mocked his former introduction and he even laughed out loud. “Seventeen thousand? I am way above that,” he spoke amused, not at all bothered by her antics.
Just as quickly things went back to normal and that finger was pointed towards him as she chewed him out for no real reason. It didn’t bother him that much, he had just thought it would be easy and helpful, but apparently, he was wrong. And so be it. Vanderbitch, as if he had not heard that one before. She surely was the pinnacle of maturity herself. He didn’t reply to her words, for three reasons. First off, the way she sunk back in her chair made it pretty obvious any discussion would be useless. Secondly, it seemed that Tori had already had him covered with her feisty and protective nature. Her last words making that smile come back to his face again. ”Even if I tried, I couldn’t make you not look good,” he answered. Perfect boyfriend? Natural silver tongue? Perhaps, but she was an amazing woman and she had a natural beauty that worked so well with the camera that those words were genuine. Sure, she had her unflattering moments and angles, just like every person, but even then, she held her beauty. It were her eyes, that deep warm russet color they held, the kindness they showed. Yes, eyes were things that drew him into a person. Like those mysterious green ones, that he really shouldn’t be thinking of right now.
However the third reason he was not reacting and keeping calm was because he was not blind to Natalies struggle. Even before the introduction, he had noticed it. Let alone now with all the various strong emotional reactions to this lady. He turned a bit away from Tori as his free hand moved up to Natalies neck to the nape, just under her hairline. His thumb gently caressing over the smooth skin behind her ear and massaging the muscles down to her neck. Perhaps it was a bit intimate move to make. It were moments like these that despite their striking resemblance to each other, they were more than once confused for lovers. But this was his twin. They had shared a womb! And he knew massaging her neck helped her relax a bit more, it always had even long before that power of hers came to the surface. ”You okay?” His voice hardly louder than a whisper and he gently pulled her a bit against him.
The poor goody two-shoes even apologized to their, completely unfair, outburst. The cereal bar that had been in his hands vanished as they simply gave him a glare and sat back up. Just to be pulled into the next moment as Cassandra reacted to the introduction, clearly not being a fan of it either. Though she reacted in a very unusual way as her face suddenly started to decompose it seemed. Their heart kicked up as their palms literally started to itch, even though healing such wounds was way behind their capability yet. At the same time their logic knew this was nothing but an illusion and the shape shifter was actually in a perfect healthy condition. It didn’t help against the power that was so eagerly activated now and Charlie curled their hands up into tight fists. ”Fucking hell, Cass.” They hissed under their breath, clearly not happy with the antics of their friend. Even the albino could even be labeled as that yet.
Their power continued to itch as they pressed their nails into the soft flesh of their palms in the hopes to find some distraction. Their glare still deep as the female next to them put the Prince back in place by stating none of them cared. Well, that was true, for them at least. The Prince’ girlfriend was quick to respond and put Cassandra back in place. Charlie simply shook their head, not feeling any need nor urge to defend them, she had dug her own grave and she could climb out herself. Instead it was the calm guy and his roll of paper towels that grabbed their attention. For the first time that glare seeming to smooth over at his words and the person they were directed at. They reached for the metallic beam above them as they stood up. ”Move,” they spoke towards the cinnamon bun. Their voice calm, but still not particular friendly. With a nod of their head indicating they wanted the male to move to their previous seat so they could sit down next to the blood bender. They hardly cared if the other had indeed scooted over, but he better had. Or this would become a very awkward situation.
Charlie grabbed one of the paper towels and swiftly held it underneath the others nose to catch the more steadily flowing blood now. Their other hand moving to pinch the nose, just like the African-American male had advised. The itching feeling moving from the palms to the tip of their fingers as their power quickly aided the others healing ability to close up the rupture in the vein. Their fingertips feeling a bit warmer as the bleeding stopped within seconds. For just a flash of a moment their lips curled up to something that could be counted as a friendly smile when they looked at the blood bender. ”Don’t mention it,” they simply said. It was not really like they had done it for the other. They had just wanted to get rid of the annoying itching feeling, and blood… blood was a dangerous trigger for them. So it was better to just stop it right away before it would get too bad.
Van with l o s e r s in it --> Van she doesn't want to be in.
Cassie's fingers were moving at the average speed for any bored 17 year old who was texting their best friend, which was beyond any human speed to begin with. Of course, more conversation swirled around her, and she caught wind that more than a few people in the van didn't really appreciate her show, asides from Vanderfuckwit. Great. She glanced back down to her phone.
"Motherfucker." She cursed under her breath. Cassie didn't really know how to make friends, at least how to purposefully make friends. At least, not outside of playing the guitar, but that usually ended a lot hornier that she liked. Can't you like, turn yourself into a guitar or something?
Oh, right. I could try and do that. She thought to herself. It wouldn't be too difficult, she'd just need to detach the strings and make some fleshy protuberances that would hold onto them at exactly the right tension. However, that would mean that she would have to perfectly tune it, which would lead to issues having to reattach-
She's fucking with her.
"Fuck it." She said quietly to herself. She peeked to the other end of the bus, where it seemed that everyone on her side, at least Charlie, was dealing with... something. She couldn't really see it from here. It probably didn't matter. Probably. If anything, she'd find out about it soon enough. She set an alarm on her phone for 15 minutes, with the title "Wake up Cassie", to which she then set down on top of her bag. She contemplated poking Charlie to wake her up in addition to the alarm, but she figured they probably didn't want to talk with her anyways. Her eyes and mouth smoothed over with a layer of skin, leaving her face near featureless as she leaned herself on the side of the bus as comfortably as she could, trying her best to sleep despite the noise.
Natlie Vanderbuys
Concerned Teenage Brainiac
Emotional overload was one of her greatest fears thanks to the appearance of her power. This bus ride felt like it was taking ages as it devolved from calm and casual to a messy monstrosity. As a result, plunging back into the emotional void that was not possible currently. The shenanigans of her brother and Vicky were things she could easily ignore since she is accustomed to them but the disturbing guttural voice that penetrated her ears forced Nat to look up at the disgusting melting body in panic. Sure, her logical mind knew it was just a power but the delivery and following message both terrified and enraged her. The sight itself was disturbing but no one is allowed to talk to her brother like that, not if she can manage to do something about it.
Yet the world was closing in around Nat from her swirling emotions as the next couple of events transpired while she was mostly oblivious to them. Nat's focus was on the burning sensation in her throat, eyes, ears, and mouth as she could feel the form of her body shifting against her will while words flew between her fellow group members. Leaning over with her head in her hands, Nat's tongue stopped burning as the forked appendage began flicking out between her lips. Her vision transitioned to normal human vision to a dull and washed out environment. Her eyes became snake-like triangular slits of amber as her ears started shrinking as a defense mechanism to tune out the overwhelming noise. Yet through the entire process she could faintly hear the back and forth form Vicky, Izzy, and Cassandra. The words gradually being processed in her mind as she drifted back into reality.
Finally, her face shot up from her hands as she caught up to processing everything. The term 'Vanderbitch' lingered in her head since it is a term both Nat and Izzy had heard over the years but it had been some time since someone breathed it into the air with such fury. Thankfully Vicky, being true to her confident and strong nature, snapped into action. Something Nat would always be thankful for was Vicky being such a great defender when she failed to do so herself. Even though Izzy is more than capable to handle himself it was a comfort to have Vicky as back up to effortlessly put Cassandra back in her place. All Nat could muster at the time was eyeing the body shifter as she slowly lifted her head and let her snake-like forked tongue flick out of her mouth unconsciously. Fortunately the delay between transforming and catching back up to what was going on gave her brother enough time to notice her struggle.
Nat's shoulders lost all tension as a feeling that was marvelously comforting flowed from the back of her neck. Her head instinctively rested back on the hand that was massaging her neck as the stress steadily began to dissipate. Nat immediately knew it was her brother's hand as this was something the twins had done many times through the years. They were close, like any twins should be, and this kind of action was not uncommon between them. Sadly this type of thing has led to people saying disgusting things about their relationship. Nonetheless, Nat was thankful to have her brother to help soothe her. His voice was so quiet that she barely could hear them with her lesser hearing but Izzy's gentle tug allowed her to meet his steel blue eyes with her slit amber irises. She hated these transformations. They reflected her feelings so transparently and always felt embarrassing to her. One look and people could tell what she felt, at least, that's how she viewed it. Snake eyes and tongue? She was clearly ready to strike. Her ears shrinking in defense? Her body knew what was bothering her. The silent anguish was clear as she looked at her twin for a fleeting moment before immediately plunging to press the side of her head against him and cover her other ear with her hand. The massage was working wonders as Nat could feel her ears warming up to return to their original form. Her eyes still open for the moment, she could see Charlie getting up to do something out of her peripheral vision but whatever transpired was a mystery as Nat resorted to shutting her eyes in an attempt to close off her senses. “I need to get off thisss atrociousss busss.” Involuntarily exaggerating the 's' sounds in her sentence as she spoke she instantly regretted her word choice. The only thing Nat wanted was to get some time alone outdoors so she could return to her usual state of being void of emotion for her own sake.
Well apparently apologising was the wrong thing to do...somehow? It was just an involuntary response but he had gotten a glare from Charlie from doing so. He just awkwardly shifted his gaze elsewhere towards his empty hands that still felt numb. Probably best for him not to touch anything for the time being unless he wished for something else to just be destroyed. The episode would pass soon enough. He hoped.
After a few minutes he could feel said numbness fading off and feeling little more confident that he wouldn't melt anything by accident he had fished his phone from his pocket. Already he had messages from Angie, presumably during the cereal bar incident. Before the could check though he caught movement in the corner of his eye. Blinking once he was met by an apple cinnamon bar being held in front of him. The source of the breakfast treat being his current seat buddy Caspin. Had had noticed the disappearance of his snack? He had tried to not make a fuss about it, the bar was even his favourite flavour coincidentally. With a slightly raised brows he met the boys gaze reaching for it when he asked him to take it "Oh! Thanks!" flashing a bright smile at him.
Around the same time Caspin noticed Cassandra Keanu's attention was also turned towards them as they began to mock Isaiah's earlier introduction in a pretty unnecessary way. Though he wished it hadn't been, his eyes getting full view of melting flesh and for sure seeing such a thing a few seats away from you was not the same as any horror movie with a sharp inhale he moved to look away from the situation instead being met with Caspin shakily searching his bag. He had missed the fact his nose had been bleeding but it seemed Charlie hadn't as before Keanu could even ask if he was doing okay after finally noticing Charlie had demanded a seat change with a curt "Move" Of course Keanu complied with a polite nod before moving over and switching seats to let Charlie help out. It of course meant he was now closer to the face melter...but he was sure it would be fine right? so long as he didn't piss her off. "Hi!" He said politely to his new white haired seat buddy once seated again.
"I ..." Caspin's voice short-circuited. Though he parted his lips to speak, words failed him, and he found himself staring blankly at the the roll of absorbent paper towel outstretched toward him.
The gesture came from a boy he'd not paid much attention to until now - not entirely out of disinterest, of course. He seemed, like Caspin, to avoid conflict and the spotlight. Wasn't his fault Vanderbuys and his posse demanded all attention. Amir? -- he couldn't be sure -- was a fellow with a little garden blooming among his dark locks. His face looked gentle and unassuming, but his eyes were afire with intellect. He came across as trustworthy. Caspin liked to think he was a good judge of character -- so he allowed himself to relax a bit. "Sorry. Stress," he mustered at last, his throat scratchy. With a thankful, though tight-lipped smile, he reached out for the roll.
Then, in a (rather predictable, given the atmosphere of the van) burst of activity, Charlie surprised them both, pushing their way to Caspin's side, their expression determined, contrasting their usual brand of displeasure. He stared, wide-eyed, as they snatched the roll of paper towel, tore off a strip, and turned to him. A chill crept through his body. A single drop of blood fell from his face, and as it settled on the top of his thigh, somehow still bright red against the black fabric of his pants, it solidified, forming a sharp crystalline shape. He quickly moved to sweep it off of him, but in the process sliced the pad of his pinky finger. He balled his hands into fists and tried to ignore the sting. He was not able to focus on mending it.
"Uh --" he began, a shiver of discomfort rocketing up his spine. Caspin raised his palms as if to shield his face, but Charlie was already upon him, pressing the tissue hard to the underside of his nose. "I can," they pinched the bridge of his nose, cutting him off, "I can do it ... myself," he continued after a short silence, his nervous tone now shamefully nasally. Charlie didn't heed his words, still glowering, set in their ways. Caspin's glance darted away; his eyebrows furrowed discontentedly, and he worked his bottom lip back and forth between his teeth. He hated the feeling of being attended to, of being fussed over, and he hated even more the idea that everyone in the van would be drawn to this new spectacle. "Oh, God, sorry," he said in Keanu's direction as he scrambled into Charlie's empty seat; he felt overwhelmingly at fault for the commotion. He may have (rightfully so) scared away the potential of befriending poor Keanu - but at least someone had decided to help him, right?
Regardless of their kindness, defiance bubbled up in his chest, liquefying the icy chill that resided within him moments before. With it, he conjured up the courage to shoo them away, but before he could vocalise his irritation ---
It was a new, unfamiliar sensation, not unlike the taste of fresh honey. And just like honey, it seemed to glide, spreading slowly from behind his eyes to the end of every digit, to the root of every hair. Involuntarily, the tension in his shoulders released, and he tilted his head back, basking in its warmth. The pain in his hand had very quickly begun to de-escalate, until finally, it went from a dull throbbing to nothing at all. It occured to him, then, as Charlie sat facing him with a shadow of a smile, and a marginally bloody tissue in their hand: "You're a healer." He seemed bewildered by the notion. "Wow."
Caspin retrieved the tissue, scrunched it up into a ball, and shoved it into his jacket pocket. "Seriously, thanks," he said to them, "but you should have asked."
For some of the vans the drive had come to an end quicker than others. Some had only just left behind the school. Yet some had already found their destination. Though that was in no way or form the destination of the students. Unless they wanted to make this a true survival week and camp out in the open with self made huts. If so, they were more than welcome to do so. Yet that had not been the plan. For each group a cabin was arranged, all cabins scattered in different areas. Some a bit closer together, but all far away from each other to make sure the different groups could not contact each other or merge together. The only problem now was that the drop off point from the vans was half an hour walking distance from the groups cabin, if they found their way directly. Otherwise this little search party for their play to stay could take quite a while longer. Though the teachers would make sure to go pick up the groups that had not found their cabin by even evening fall. That still left them with more or less nine hours of having to search on their own.
Of course the students were not drop off and left behind without anything. For instance they still had their own stuff of course, but each drop of place also had a little loot box. Just a simple silver color steel box with out a lock. Inside of it, the students could find a map of the area, four keys, flash light and four bottles of water. The map however was blank of any landmarks or road names. On it were just two dots, a blue one and a red one. The red one indicating the drop of point and the blue dot indicating their cabin location. There was no compass rose on it to indicate what was north either. So all they had were a map of the paths and roads that would eventually lead to the cabin. If the students would figure out where they were and what dot was their current position. Since of course the dots were not labeled, they couldn’t make it too easy for them, now could they?
Group 22 was dropped off in the middle of a mown corn field. The driver of their van had vanished as soon as the motor had stopped. All hail, the mighty teleporters! On three sides the field was surrounded by forest, on the open side there was one long sand way along it and connecting it to other corn fields on the other side. Their cabin? It was hidden in a little forest clearance to the west, but how would it take them to figure that out?
No reply had come to his words at all, as the albino chick now seemed to be glued to her phone. Her thumbs flying over that screen in lightning speed. Which either indicated excitement, anger or panic. Based on the current situation, it was probably annoyance and anger that drove her to text this fast and intense with who ever was answering to her written messages. Normally it was Isaiah himself that could spend hours engrossed with his phone like that, but not at this moment. No, he did still know how to balance his attention with the real world. And if the current situation of them being on their way to an unknown destination was not enough to keep his curiosity and attention captures, his twin sisters struggle most certainly was. Even with his many followers, and him holding a high priority to his social media life, real life, and especially family, always came first.
His fingers sliding over the smooth warm skin as the young male could feel that tension slide away immediately and Nate was relaxing more and more into his hold. Her body curling itself into his, to hide what was going on. Their eyes met for just a little moment, but it was not steel blue meeting with electric blue. No, Isaiah was instead faced with amber eyes and slit pupils. His lips curled up softly as it always gave him the idea of a viper that was ready to strike and release its poison. Which pretty much gave a way Nates emotional state and her readiness to defend him, even if that was unnecessary. The whole moment was under control now. What had needed to be said was said and the introduction had come to a halt. All the same to him, he’d figure out their names as they went. Or he’d ask later on if necessary. Isaiah didn’t really worry too much about that.
Just like her looks had changed to that more serpent look, so had her speech as she hissed more as she spoke. He gave a little nod as he massaged her down her spine now, giving each vertebrae some attention. ”I know, Nate” He was about to raise his hand and demand them to stop, under the disguise of Nate having motion sickness when the van had come to a stop on its own. The engine fell dead silent and he could hear the large door that gave access to the back being unlocked, but not opened. His eyes glanced around the van, wondering who would go first to the door. He normally would take lead, but again, family was a priority. So he continued to focus on Nate as his hand had slid down to just a bit below the shoulder blades and just above the bra clasp. ”Seems like they were listening to your wishes,” he spoke with a soft chuckle. He looked down at his twin sister, hoping that being outside and being able to distance herself more from the people and their emotions would help indeed. And of course, he was very curious where they had ended up after all this driving. For they had been stuck in here for at least 45 minutes, perhaps even an hour? "Let's get out, beautiful," he spoke, but it was not really clear whether he spoke to his twin or his actual girlfriend who sat next to him.
The little lamb had made his way over to their previous seat without any complaints. With was probably best for his own well being. Their stormy eyes were pinned down on the male they had taken their seat next to now, who did complain. Quite a lot and even tried to stop them, but the attempt was fruitless and pretty much died upon itself. Charlie was not at all unaware of that second injury the stupid man seemed to be able to give himself. A little unpleased sound falling from their lips as their free hand moved down and quickly picked up the one with that hurt pinky finger. ”Open your hand,” they spoke, again more in the form of a command. Though they did care, they just… didn’t know how to portray that.
The other was slowly relaxing and Charlie pulled their hand back from the bridge of their nose so they could speak normally and state the obvious. In a rather bewildered state and yet he seemed to be impressed. What was so impressive about being a healer? They were with so many. One on five people now? ”Yes, I am,” they still confirmed. The tissue was taken and balled up to disappear as both their hands returned to their lap. Now staying in this seat, since the van was already coming to a stop, evident so with the engine being killed. Their little smile becoming a bit more apparent when they were thanked, yet it disappeared just as much when the blood bender told them to ask next time. ”So you could have said no?” Charlie replied, for that would have undoubtly been the answer. People didn’t trust them, so people would not want their help or their healing, if they even believed the fact they were a healer.
Those grey blues moved through the van as the click of the lock could be heard. ”My power is impatient,” they said as a bit more of an explanation, ”and out of all people you would have hated the other outcome of it more than anyone.” They didn’t offer any reply to that comment, nor allowed him the time to question it as they got up. They had had enough off being stuff in this tin case with all these strangers so if the door had not been opened yet, they were the one to open it and step out onto dark lose dirt. Charlie took a few steps forward, before looking around to see they were in the middle of absolutely shit no where stranded on a corn field? There were still stubs of greens standing around here and there, most of them snapped though. ”Wonderful…” they muttered sarcastically to themselves. What now? Ugh, this whole thing was getting worse with the second.
