Welcome to Ithia, the continent of magic. A superpower in all affairs worldwide, Ithia's military might trumps all. While Ithia does have some of the world's most brilliant tactical minds and advanced war technology, their true strength comes from the Predators: a military division composed of people who have taken the blood of Celestials. If performed correctly, the drinkers become human beings of extraordinary power, gaining magical abilities and superhuman strength, speed, and stamina. Due to their inability to perform the ritual, the other continents waging war on Ithia fear the Predator and their abilities to plow through their armies, causing many of them to surrender as soon as they step onto the field.

  The Predators must perform a sacred ritual to become Predators. First, they must find the blood of a Celestial that is compatible with that of the chosen individual. It is difficult to find a compatible Celestial, and there is no surefire test: often selected people will simply take a swig and hope for the best. Compatability is important- consuming incompatible blood will slowly and painfully kill the drinker. However, the most complicated part is discovering if the blood is compatible, for even compatible blood will cause the drinker pain. The agony is so great, numbing potions must be given. However, if the blood is suitable, the Predator will awaken with tremendous power, as opposed to death.
  
  Celestial Blood is inhumanly expensive to obtain and is one of the most protected and treasured resources ever.

  Predators have a pretty damned good life. Being the highest-ranking soldiers in the Ithian military (with the exception of the generals), Predators are entitled to luxury. While the people across Ithia may not treat the Predatorss like celebrities, they are very well-respected by all (except bandits, because they get killed by Predators). Predators live together as a team in their own castle, plainly titled the Citadel, located in the mountains near the capital. The Predators are lead by High General Alistair Crox, an eccentric but tactically brilliant man with rare, natural magic powers. Predators are regularly deployed to deal with organized threats unsuited for military action, such as bandit groups and revolutionaries.
  
  Predators are not always chosen from the military: Predator selection is entirely random and does not discriminate remotely. Whatever they are, Predators \are rigorously trained for combat before their big Ritual day, and even upon completing the Ritual they continue to train.
  
  Still, though there is plenty of elbow grease involved, Predators live good lives with great food and service. They even get a butler, god damn it.

  The world of the Predators is divided into three continents: Siova, the Northern Continent, Ithia, the Western Continent, and Torva, the Eastern Continent. All of them are monarchies, and they are constantly in combat.
  
  
  Siova is almost always cloaked in ice and snow. The Siovans are naturally cold-resistant due to years of living in the cold. Siova is the least technologically advanced of the three, but makes up for it with their naturally defenses- full of blizzards and covered with mountains. Their capital, Yuven, is also surrounded by a thick ice wall, formed years ago by sorcerers.
  
  Ithia is the continent where the main story will happen. A naturally diverse place, Ithia has beaches, forests, tundras and plains. The strongest of all the continents, Ithia has perfected the Predator ritual and has the most military and technological advances. Their capital, Rhodes, is well-fortified and surrounded by the High Mountains. TheCitadel is located on the High Mountains.
  
  Torva is similar to Ithia in every way. Diverse as well, Torva is Ithia's biggest rival. Though their military levels and technological advances are similar to Ithia, Torva is not figured out how to complete the Predator ritual without their chosen Predators dying. As such, they have lost almost every fight against the Ithians. However, rumor has it that Torva is getting close to discovering what Ithia calls the 'Compatability Secret.' Torva's capital is called Heathen, a beautiful city and a great place for sightseeing.

  There are a wide variety of Celestials whose blood can be used to create a Predator. All of the abilities gain take time and training to hone and master. There are other Celestials but these are some of them. Examples I guess.

    • Dragons: The dragon is a lizard-like winged beast. Drinking its blood causes the drinker to gain pyrokinesis, as well as the ability to cover their skin with scales.
  
  
  • Yetis: The yeti is a giant that resides in cold mountains. Drinking their blood causes the drinker to gain cryokinesis and create small snowstorms/blizzards.

  • Thunderbirds: The natural rivals of dragons, Thunderbids are giant birds. Drinking their blood gives the drinker electrokinesis.

  • Leviathan: Leviathans are sea serpents. Drinking their blood gives the drinker hydrokinetic abilities and allows them to breathe underwater.

  • Cerberus: Cerberus are three-headed dogs. Drinking their blood gives the drinker limited control over death: they can summon corpses from the ground to aid them and use dark energy as a tool.

  • Unicorn: The Unicorn is a horned horse. Drinking its blood gives the drinker the ability to heal others.

  • Lernean Hydra: The Hydra is a many-headed beast. Drinking its blood gives the drinker toxic immunity and the ability to create poisons of all sorts.

This sounds awesome. My only question would be: Are the people taking the Ritual allowed to pick the Celestial blood? Or is it predetermined by whoever is in charge of the Ritual?

It is predetermined, but often times the blood will end up being what they want anyway. Compatability
