What Pokemon can I use?
While Skyblue Island is located in Hoenn Region, any pokemon is allowed for the roleplay. Pokemon from Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh, Unova, and Kalos can reasonably live on the island due to the diverse climate. Alolan and Galarian pokemon might be brought over by other residents or stayed to the island. Hisuian Pokemons are extinct... unless they came from a fossil or something, idk. Make a good story if you want one. Same story with legendaries and mythical. Like... why would Tapu Koko chill here. Give me a really good story if you want one.

That said, Mega-evolution will not be possible with the lack of trainer, as is Gigantamax pokemon due to the lack of power spots.

How does moves work in this roleplay?
Refer to the anime more than to the game. Your Pokemon can use any moves it naturally can, plus TM/HM Moves if it was owned by a trainer before. Also egg moves I guess.

How strong/What level should I make my Pokemon be?
You are either pokemon released by a trainer or a wild pokemon, so just make a rough estimate. As most characters already in the roleplay ends up lower on the power spectrum, the story will be set around lower levels as well. Personality and story > Power.

Your Pokemon is a Choice Band-holding Strong Jaw Dracovish? Ok that's cute hun mine is a magnemite that rolled out of the ship as it left and is now completely distressed because he can't eat more poffins so he started trying to learn cooking despite having no hands.

How many character/Pokemon can I make?
One is fine, two is cool, I'm hovering my hand over the 'delete rp to erase existential crisis' when you make three. Make as many as you can handle! Side characters and NPCs allowed.

Bzzzt... (I want to evolve already...)
Zip
b5pzlfuuz6m71.jpg
Name: Zip, Zap, and P-Out

Species: Magnemite - Magnet Pokemon

Gender: Genderless

Height: 30 cm / 11 inch

Appearance: Despite being practically inseparable, this cluster of Magnemites isn't a Magneton. At least, not yet. Zip, P-Out, and Zap are still waiting for their evolutions, so they are sticking together until then. You will know when that happens because then, only one thought will remain and the other two Magnemites will only have two Phillip screws instead of three!

Items: P-Out carries around a pouch tied with metal beads filled with batteries, while Zap has a cookbook it carries around on a frying pan.
- Batteries
- Cookbook
- Frying pan

    • Nature: Zip was a bit small compared to other Magnemites, but it made up for it with guts! It isn't hesitant to brave danger and it is confident in its skill! Lately, it's a bit depressed since it can't evolve since other Magnemites avoids it, so it's been trying to make friends. It wants to be close friends with P-Out and Zap.

      Hobby: Fighting!

      Favorite Food: Electricity

      History:
Zip had always been the strongest among the many Magnemites in the power plant. It could drive away Gulpins that tried to eat its friends and was the first one that learnt how to discharge. So, it became arrogant. It often hoarded a spot on the power line and was rude to the others, but since it was the strongest, the others couldn't do anything.

One day, a trio of Magnemites evolved into a Magneton. It was stronger than Zip and kicked it from the power plant. It was determined to find an opportunity to evolve and fought the Magneton again. When wandering, it ran into a Magnemite who was helping a Torchic crossed a river called P-Out. They started traveling together since the other liked company. They saw a Magnemite being attacked above the ocean when they floated around the beach, so they went to save it. That last Magnemite was called Zap, and it gave Zip its name. The duo became trio who agreed to evolve together!

    Name: Curri

    Species: Numel

    Gender: Female

Height: 2'7" (3 inches taller than average)

Appearance: Curri is a little bigger than most Numel, with chonkier legs and a bigger hump that is shaded a little lighter than most, likely because of all the time she's spent in scorching sunlight. Her general skin colour is also a little desaturated/grey, due to her Donphan father.

    Items: Absolutely nothing.

RileyKitty on dAName: Chisa

Species: Bulbasaur

Gender: Female

Height | Weight: 2’3” | 15 lbs

Nature: Timid

Favorite Food: Pecha Berries

Background
Chisa was born by the attempts of a breeder. While she was a relatively healthy egg, that didn’t really stop her from being more on the timid side! It didn’t help that the older Bulbasaurs liked to poke fun or harass her, and being the only girl in the bunch at the time, she was the go-to target.

The other Bulbasaurs were quickly taken in by other trainers, leaving her as the last of the batch. The breeder decided to hand her off to a professor for a trainer’s first Pokémon.

Fate was not on her side still yet. Or she sabotaged her own chances of growing with a child trainer, she was not chosen when a group of kids started their journey. Probably because she refused to get out of her ball. To be fair, their loud excitement made her nervous!

She got her name from the professor who decided she’d be best off with other Pokémon instead of a trainer.

Hobby: Sunbathing and flower-sniffing

Skills
Overgrow - When in a pinch and hurting, this buffs her grass-type moves

Chlorophyll - She’s a little faster when it’s super sunny!

Moveset
Growth - Sometimes she uses this when she’s extra scared. Usually when another Pokémon is bullying her.

Vine Whip - Mastered control of her vines enough to inflict damage as necessary. She can also use them for recreational activities!

Growl - Not her best move. Her growls are weak but if she really tries, she can get a real good one out!

Tackle - While a little smaller than the average Bulbasaur, she at least knows how to throw her weight around. This is mainly used in bushes and trees to get fruits out. Or by accident when she’s running away.

Relations
Estelle - "She's stern, but I like her! We planted flowers together."
Buddy - "Another Bulbasaur. We think getting a sound maker for me to help Danny distinguish us will be helpful"
Danny - "Calls me Cheese. He's silly!"

Name:
Estelle

Species: Eevee

Gender: Female

Height: ~1 foot tall

Appearance: Estelle still bears much of a resemblance to a typical example of the species, but her fur is a little thinner, her tail slim instead of bushy. The fur on the rest of her body is notably lighter than the typical dark brown, about halfway to the beige of her ruffle.

Personal
Nature:
Estelle is generally calm and contemplative, and likes to come across as being wise and in control. She welcomes the absence of humans from the island, and enjoys being among the native plant life.

Hobby: Gardening and foraging for plants.

Favorite Food: She misses Lavaridge Cookies and black coffee, but has resigned herself to life without them.

History:
Estelle (her latest name) barely remembers any of her early life, though there's no reason to believe it was anything different from others of her species. It didn't take long for her to be caught by a Trainer after she reached maturity. Her first Trainer, like all the others to come, had one thing in common. None of them were merely seeking a Pokemon for companionship or help at work. Regardless of their level of skill or personal preferences, all of them were looking to compete in battles and some even to challenge the Pokemon League.

Naturally, this led to each one trying to evolve Estelle into a form that suited their strategy, but...it never worked. Whatever stones were placed before her, no matter how much she was bathed in moonlight or sun, nothing happened. Eventually each one would give up on her and pass her on.

One day, Professor Evergreen caught wind of her rather strange case and took Estelle in, studying her to no avail. (Leading theories: some kind of psychological block or even Everstone radiation.) And the incident that led to the humans pulling out took Evergreen as well, who was able to save her data but not every single specimen.

Welcoming the chance to live away from human eyes and their orders, Estelle settled down and began her new life among the verdant plants.

Skills
Special Abilities:

Somehow, Aromatherapy. She's spent enough time on the island to make remedies for illnesses from common plant life and berries. Even though she seemingly cannot metamorphose as many Eevee eventually do, she still possesses strong biological adaptability, withstanding cold, heat, or pressure that a creature of her type and size would usually be hurt by.

Moveset:
Swift

One of Eevee's signature moves, useful for keeping any assailants at arm's length.

Chilling Wind
Good for making it easier to sleep on a hot night.

Charge Beam
A light in the dark, but otherwise not that useful amidst defunct human machinery.

Psybeam
A fairly-concentrated beam of psychic force that could move objects at a distance.

Name: Rene

Species: Pichu

Gender: Male

Height: 1'00

Appearance: A small pokemon with pale yellow fur. The tips of his ears, collar, and tail are black and angular. He has pink cheek pouches which can only store small amounts of electricity.

Items: Rene carries around a blue ribbon, often wearing it tied around his right ear.

Personal Nature: Rene may be tiny and incapable of controlling electricity, but he replaces that with fighting dirty and attempting to seem bigger than he really is. He wants to be taken seriously and dislikes the idea of others talking down to him. Although, still being fairly young, he can at times act more childish and immature. At his core, Rene is a lot more lonely than he may let on, and doesn't understand why he's even here at Skyblue Town in the first place.

Hobby: Performing (but secretly)

Favorite Food: Poke Puffs

History: Rene is originally from Kalos. He didn't necessarily live life as a wild pokemon, and was instead hatched from an egg by a couple who raised pokemon eggs for a living, and therefore spent a lot of time on the ranch that they had. This young couple had two kids, a son and daughter, who both shared a close bond with Rene ever since the day he hatched. The daughter was a passionate person who was determined to be a pokemon performer and compete in showcases, just like her mother once did before deciding to settle down. The son, however, was a lot more quiet and outwardly didn't seem interested in much of anything. In private, though, he would mention to Rene that he wished he could be a pokemon performer too. It looked like fun, as it wasn't just the pokemon performing, but their trainer as well. "But..it's not something boys do, I guess.." He would say, sighing. For listening to him, he would sometimes bake Poke Puffs for Rene. This was something Rene greatly enjoyed, but he was also worried for the boy.

It was around this time that Rene discovered his love for performing. In secret, Rene would review showcases with the boy, and make performances of their own like a real pokemon performer did with their pokemon. It was great fun, and it helped for Rene to bond with the boy more. As a gift for doing makeshift performances with him, one day the boy tied a blue ribbon around Rene's ear. He explained it was similar to how performers dress up their pokemon for showcases, although just the ribbon was about the best he could do right now. Rene was appreciative.

Time passed, and one day it was announced by the couple that they, as a family, were moving to the Hoenn region. The couple was looking for a change of pace and the ranch could be taken over and maintained by the kids' grandparents, who were well-versed with pokemon themselves. The news of moving devastated their daughter, who did not want to go to Hoenn, especially since it would rob her dream of being in a showcase. The son, on the other hand, was ecstatic. Maybe they didn't have showcases, but there were contests -- which weren't exactly the same, but close enough for him. Being a pokemon coordinator didn't sound so bad.

The day the family boarded the ship that was heading for a town in the Hoenn region, the son and daughter got into an argument. They had differing ideas about the move, something which upset both of them. One wanted the other to be happy about it and stop sulking, and one wanted the other to be angry that their parents were uprooting their whole life all of a sudden. It got to the point where Rene tried himself to diffuse the argument, since the parents weren't around at the moment -- the last thing he wanted was to see them fight -- and so he climbed up to where he could be on eye level with them. But before he could do anything, a wave managed to rock the ship quite a bit, and that was enough to make Rene lose his balance and fall into the water below. The last thing he felt was pain -- like he hit his head hard on something -- and the last thing he heard was the distant sound of panicked voices.

Rene awoke somewhere he was not familiar with. He also woke up not remembering much except for the vague and fuzzy memories that had been left over. The only thing he knew now was that he appeared to be alone here.

Ability: Static - Contact with this pokemon may cause paralysis.

Special Ability: Pichu can charge themselves with electricity more easily on days with thunderclouds or when the air is very dry.

Moveset:

Thunder Shock:
This is not something that Rene has good control over, and yet he continues to use it anyway. At the very least, it should make others go away before they get zapped.

Quick Attack: Rene's favorite move. Meant for a fast hit.

Swift: Good to use it Rene doesn't want to get close. Could also be used to overwhelm an opponent.

Tail Whip: For lowering the opponent's guard.

Name: Thrynn
Species: Sneasel
Gender: Female
Size: 1"10'
Appearance: Thrynn is a shy sneasel who is at the end of her teenaged years. The only difference between her and the normal sneasel is that she has silvery eyes.
Items: Thrynn likes to hold a smokeball from her parents because they don't like the idea of her fighting.
Nature: Thrynn is a shy and meek Sneasel. This is odd for most sneasel because by nature they are usually haughty, snarky, or aggressive. She is always looking for a new friend, but has a hard time due to both social anxiety and(Nature is gentle.)
Hobby: Thrynn severely enjoys physical activities with friends. Being small, she enjoys being tossed in the air or sliding down larger pokemon. Another hobby she truly enjoys is painting and drawing.
Favorite food: Thrynn's favorite food is lasagna. (She also hates mondays! Lol jk)
History: Thrynn came from a sad place. Her parents belonged to bad people who would use them to do bad things. Her parents never wanted to do the things they did and hide their crimes from her. One day the trainers heard about the island and wanted to be the first to find it. On their excursion, their boat was capsized by a raging gyarados who transported her parents to the island to keep them safe. When her parents decided to have a child, they wanted their children to never know the harshness of humans. Thus, Thrynn is largely sheltered.
Ability: Snow Warning. Thrynn has a special ability to control her snow warning ability. She can either make it snow or hail. Sometimes, however, she loses that control of the hailstorm when she gets upset.
Moveset:
Substitue- Thrynn will immediately use this as soon as she can in a battle. Usually to follow up with the smoke ball to escape.
Powder snow- Thrynn usually doesn't attack, but will try to freeze her foes from afar so that she doesn't have to get close.
Ice punch- If freezing from afar doesn't work, she will try to freeze them up close.
Attract- If she can't freeze a foe, she will use this as a last ditch effort.

Basic
Name: Jet-Jack;

Species: Hitmonlee;

Gender: Male;

Height: 5'3" aka 1.62 meters (162 cm), (Average Hitmonlee height is 4'11")

Appearance: A taller-than-average Hitmonlee that is built like a truck, the core of his leathery brown body (just below his eyes) is flaked with either round holes or needle-thin scars. Unlike other hitmonlee's, his hands possess pointed nails. His arms are quite noticeably thicker above the banded forearm, likely due to all the strengthening exercises that he has done.

Items: Constantly wearing a puffy, orange and black jacket. When entering battle, exercises, sparring sessions, or labour-intensive work, he removes his jacket and uses the utmost caution in handling it.

Personal
Nature: A proud and headstrong pokemon, Jet-Jack is one mean mon who takes no lip or order from anyone but himself and his trainer. The standards ingrained in him for him by him and McCarthy are high, but he does not extend those expectations to other pokemon. He knows the training that he went through is vastly different compared to the norm and not all are as capable or competent as him. There is a soft spot in his heart for the little guy, that he will always rush to rescue. That only applies to city-dwelling or tamed pokemon, as he applies a strict non-intrusive policy when dealing with wild ones.

Hobby: Daily exercises that he practices alone or with other fighting type pokemon. Swimming.

Favourite Food: Anything edible made for humans, though it won't hesitate to eat pokemon food.

History: Many years ago, there had been a popular underground fighting ring for fighter monsters in the Hoenn region. Where the machamps, throhs, primeapes, hawluchas, lucarios could bust down with the best, never minding the rest. But it was brutal for the in-house pokemon, they were held to higher standards than the rest. One of these inhouse pokemon who was undergoing training had been a runt tyrogue, Jack, he was called. There had been no hope for him from the 'trainers,' a runt was always going to be a runt in their eyes. No matter how many beatings, lashes, or lacerations that he took, he showed no sign of improvement. But before they could do away with him, their little operation had been busted by the police. Many of the in-house pokemon were seized then transferred to foster homes. Jack was not a part of the lucky ones. Amidst the chaos, he slipped unseen through the cracks. It had been an entire year before he was found by a plucky, young (at the time), kickboxer.

Up until now, Jane McCarthy had been the best thing that happened to the little tyrogue. She had never been a trainer before and Jack gave her that chance. They became training buddies immediately, spending much of their hours together exchanging punches or kicks. Jane instilled the essentials of combat in Jack: efficient, effective, and simple was their shared motto. After a while, they could no longer spar due to Jack's increased strength, but she still endeavoured to have him train with the best. Before long, the runt tyrogue reached the apex of his potential and transformed into the deadly hitmonlee, becoming Jet-Jack.

They moved to Skyblue Island because of an offer to open up a dojo, it had been an amazing time for the both of them... However, tragedy struck. In an almost blink of an eye, Jane had suffered an aneurysm that took her life. Jet-Jack was left alone and the dojo on the hill became desolated. Soon after, the humans left them all behind. Jet-Jack, now masterless, remained behind on the island to defend the resting place of his master and one day, refurbish the dilapidated dojo.

Skills
Special Ability: Martial Master — Decades of training have granted a boon to this Hitmonlee's physical attacks;

Ability: Limber — His battle-ready body is resistant to paralysing moves;

Moveset:

Close Combat — Jet-Jack unleashes a flurry of jabs and kicks to damage the opponent;

High Jump Kick — Perhaps the signature move of all Hitmonlee's;

Endure — Jet-Jack's strong body and impervious mental fortitude allow him to resist fainting for a time;

Reversal — Should any opponent dare to damage Jet-Jack too greatly, they'll be surprised when their power returns to them in the form of Jet-Jack's strike.

Name: Bud

Species: Bulbasaur (probably leveled high enough to be an Ivysaur)

Gender: Male

Height: a little on the small side. Just over two feet tall.

Appearance: He's a pretty standard Bulbasaur with perhaps a few more dark patches than usual.

695-6959665_bulbasaur-png-clipart-bulbasaur-using-vine-whip-transparent.png

Items:

An everstone that was gifted to him. He keeps it for the sentiment, but doesn't actually realize what it is.

A set of small bells he found that he has tied to one of his vines for Danny's sake. This way, Danny can keep track of him without biting him.

Personal

Nature: Bold. He's small and often assumed to be weak as a primary evolution, but he has an iron will and is always willing to fight for a friend.

Hobby: Exploration and helping pokemon who need assistance. Sunbathing and napping.

Favorite food: Warm sunshine. Oh, like mouth food? Sitrus berry.

History: Born and raised in the deep forests of Skyblue Island, Bud typically spent his days sunbathing and helping his absentminded friend Psy, the Psyduck, with his many everyday problems. It wasn't until one day, a migrating Shaymin crashed into him after a strong gust of wind blew away her Garcedia flower. He teamed up with her to take on a duo of a Scyther and Beedrill to get her flower back. As a sign of gratitude after their type disadvantage victory, she gave him a stone to remember her by. He was taught that he could be strong despite disadvantages and he was inspired to travel and help others.

Skills

Special abilities: Overgrow and Chlorophyll.

Like all Bulbasaurs, Bud has two strong vines inside his bulb that he can use as limbs.

Moveset:
Tackle- simple, yet effective.

Vinewhip- the use of his vines for offensive purposes.

Sleep powder- an excellent de-escalation method.

Razorleaf- a more damaging and dangerous attack that he doesn't use much.

Basic

Name: Danny

Species: Deino (young/baby)

Gender: Male

Height: about two and a half feet tall.

Appearance: Blue fuzz with thick black fur covering the head, neck, and shoulders with a pointy tuft on top of the head. He doesn't have eyes and his fur covers where they would be. Danny, as is common and to be expected from any Deino, is always covered in bruises and scrapes from running into things and attacking whatever he runs into.

deino.jpg

Personal

Nature
: Hardy. Deinos tend to be fearless, heedless pokemon and Danny is no different. While some are quick to anger or frustration, Danny is more curious and excited by things and only tends to be shy when he realizes he's near unfamiliar pokemon who are much bigger than him. He's still very young and doesn't speak much.

He's terrified of thunder.

Hobby: Getting to know and be familiar with a location. He doesn't like entirely new places because they can be frustrating. He hasn't developed much of a hobby yet, but he likes being around Bud.

Favorite food: Just about anything he can fit in his mouth, whether or not it's considered food.

History: He was given to an overconfident amateur trainer who insisted on their starting pokemon being something cool and challenging. Turned out a Deino was a little too challenging. After many bitten ankles, shredded shoes, and wrecked equipment, when Danny chomped on and broke his pokeball, his trainer didn't bother replacing it and abandoned Danny right then and there on Skyblue Island.

Wandering blind and lonely, he eventually came across Bud, who was willing to accompany and accommodate him.

Skills

Special abilities: Hustle. Deinos tend to be built like little tanks. They have a high pain tolerance and running into anything or sustaining any mild injury doesn't phase them whatsoever.

Moveset:
Tackle, bite, headbutt- all excellent ways to explore the world as far as Danny is concerned.

Dragon breath- something he's done once or twice but doesn't have the hang of.

Name: Torch

Species: Cyndaquil

Gender: Male

Height: 1'06"

cyndaquil.png
Appearance: As typical as Cyndaquil come, his fur is kept short with a bit of scruff atop his head. His flames do burn a tad brighter than regular members of his species.

Items: An extra blue berry his trainer gave him. Oran berry.

Personal
Nature: Timid

Hobby: Watching leaves fall or exploring the various nooks and crannies of the area.

Favorite Food: Chili.

History: Torch was a gift pokemon to a very enthusiastic trainer. After his trainer obtained his own trainer card, Torch was gifted through a Day-Care as an egg. Carried through a few weeks of travel, finally Torch hatched and the trainer was thrilled. Absolutely began training Torch, teaching him moves and making sure the pokemon was comfortable. Torch loved his new family, often making friends with the other fire type, Charmander on the team. Eventually, the trainer ended up in Skyblue Island and decided to take his time exploring along with his pokemon.

However, quite unfortunately for Torch, things didn't go smoothly on heading off of the island. As he was told they were leaving, Torch was placed inside of his pokeball. With a bit of anxiety as well as a hole in his trainer's bag (That might have been from him) two pokeballs fell out and rolled away, unbeknownst to our dear trainer. Eventually, Torch finally broke from his ball, not realizing the situation. Wandering the rest of the island, he continues a search for his trainer and quite possibly anyone else from his old family. The second ball has not been recovered thus far.

Skills
Special Abilities: Flash Fire (powers up fire-type moves if hit by fire)

Moveset:
Ember: A quiff of flames that originate through his mouth. He's seen other pokemon use flamethrower, however, his is a little under powered as it is still just an ember.
Smokescreen: When fully scared or wanting to escape a situation, he's figured out how to use his flame to create a cloud of smoke to escape unwanted situations.
Tackle: Charge headfirst, it may scare something off.
Sunny Day (TM): His old trainer helped him learn this one. Apparently it intensifies the sun but he's never used it himself. Frankly, it's almost as if he forgot how.

Gender:
Male

Height:
11cm (head to tail)

Items:
N/A

Nature:
Dynamo is a happy-go-lucky cheerful one! While most Tynamo would prefer to travel in schools to protect themselves from predators, Dynamo is not as wise. He goes against their norms. But he has enough luck and a small enough size to not end up Wailord chow! He may lack wisdom, but he is smart and strategic, able to handle big threats by himself through stunning and running away, though one has to admit that whatever he does by himself would be a lot more effective as a school.

Hobby:
He enjoys soaring the bright skies, and the stormy ones too!

Favorite Food:
Seaweed from a Dhelmise's body

History:
A wild Pokemon that inhabited the Mirage Caves, a strange place that lurks around Hoenn. One day, he decided to leave this school to explore the world, and this island happened to be the closest thing.

Aquatic Pokemon - able to inhabit the water as a fish Pokemon, but can also thrive outside it.

Items: Wears an icy blue bow on her head by her left ear. Adorn on her neck an icy blue Dimon incrusted collar with her name.
Personal
Nature:
She can come out as snooty, posh spoiled, and overdramatic. But deep down she is not as bad as she seems. She never had to do anything on her own with living such a lavish and pampered life. Never had a true friend. However, she can be quite nice and caring once she truly opens up.
Hobby: A long day at the spa getting pampered, especially if it meant getting brushed. Take naps in a sunny patch or by the pool. She enjoys going on trips and exploring or simply heading into town to the boutiques.
Favorite food: The finest and gourmet meals. Especially adores sweet things.
History: Michiko comes from a long line of beauty and great breeding. She was born to be beautiful, pampered, and compete and win Pokémon Beauty Contests. Belongs to a very beautiful and extremely rich and posh woman always giving Michiko everything she could ever imagine wanting. Traveling the world, private chefs, trainers her life was good. After winning the latest Beauty contest Michiko's owner decides to take her on her yacht. No one saw the storm coming, the yacht capsize and the little Eevee ended up washing ashore on Sky-blue island.

Special Abilities:

  • Cute Charm - an ability like Attract, but instead infatuates your Pokémon of the opposite gender if the opponent is physically attacked.

  • Swift - Deals damage and has no secondary effect. It bypasses accuracy checks to always hit, unless the target is in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move such as Dig or Fly.
  • Baby-Doll Eyes - The user stares at the target with its baby-doll eyes, which lowers its Attack stat.
  • Fake Tears - The user feigns crying to make the foe feel flustered, sharply lowering its Sp. Def stat.
