Day 1

"Step right up step right up!" The Kelan soldier stood high and tall, thanks to the barrel under his feet. He was wearing the typical silver armor and blue cape, with the Empoleon insignia on the back. He was holding up a letter with the royal stamp and waved around for the crowd to see. "Our majesty has called for brave adventurers to join together and embark on a journey. You will be rewarded of course, with a handsome payment and the king's gratitude. If you are interested, meet at the Spinda Bar at 6 tonight and be prepared to travel!" He nodded and the soldiers around him began posting the same notice in walls around the city, grabbing the curiosity of many people. Including a member of the Solar Flares, Azumi.

The sun began to set as the clock hit six and the people of the city began to gather at the famous Spinda Bar. Azumi arrived with her head held up high, a serious look on her face. She was wearing her typical silver armor and her twin blades on her back. She could her man around her whispering about her and some even calling her over, but she ignored them, knowing very well she would be treated as such in such a place. The place was full, to the point people were standing outside instead on the muddy roads and having the poor waitresses running in and out trying to server everyone while trying those men with long hands. The smell of humidity and sweat was strong even outside the bar, which made Azumi wonder why the High Court would choose such a horrible place to recruit adventurers. She stood in the middle of the crowd as a royal soldier, with his golden armor, stepped on top of a table and held up his hand, silencing the rowdy place in an instant.

"First, I must congratulate you for being here tonight. For the king usually doesn't call from outside help unless it is truly necessary. We require a scout team, to check the North East forest. Our scouting guild was sent there to help retrieve a group of lumberjacks, but they never returned. Therefore, we would like a small group-"

"Probably cuz they're dead!" A man called out from the crowd, standing up, his gray beard stained with food and beer while his face was covered in what seemed to be sweat. "The reason you're asking us civilians for help is because you don't want to risk losing more men."

The crow began to talk, arguing and agreeing with what the bearded man said, but once again the royal soldier silenced everyone with his right hand. "That is why this is a scouting mission, not a rescue mission. We just need a group to figure out any clue as to what happened and report back as soon as possible. We will provide food, weapons and-"

"Funeral services!" The man spoke out again. "Because we're going to need them. Nobody here is stupid enough to go and throw their lives away, so why don't you take your request, take it to your king and shove it up his-"

"Enough!" Azumi called out, all eyes landing on her while her blue iris focused on the man with the beard. "If you don't have the guts to go, then stop wasting our time and go drink yourself to sleep."

The man seemed enraged, but once again the royal soldier took the spotlight back. "That's enough. If you would like to volunteer, we will be in the basement of this bar recruiting people. If you're accepted we will send you on your way tonight so you can arrive during the day to your destination. That is all."

Azumi stood her ground as people began to move past her and scattered into the night streets. She felt the angry stare of the man she had spoken to, but she refused to give him the pleasure of seeing him as he left. Instead, she just waited patiently for the inside of the bar to empty out so she could go inside and sign up for the mission.

~Kor "Bright Fist" Dhor...~

The morning began like any other. Kor had trained, cleaned up, and was munching on a roasted dubwool leg as he sat in a field. His lucario, Roh had already had it's fill of food, and was meditating. Waiting for Kor to hurry up and finish eating. Kor didn't get up until the bone was picked clean. Leaving the remaining chunks and goat parts he didn't eat behind for some group of poochyena to find. Gathering his belongings, he made his way to town. Roh followed behind him.

The burly man towered over most folk, casually making his way through town. Kor didn't have to push or watch out for others since most people moved out of his way or avoided him. He was one of those strange tribal men. Demari tribesman from the mountains or something. He had heard that adventurers from all over were soon to take on a great adventure. Kor was on his pilgrimage away from his tribe. Going on a grand quest would look very good and just might gain the attention of The Old Ones. Kor approached the spinda bar. Pointing towards the sky, he let out a loud hearty laugh, and shouted something in his native language which translated as "Bask in my glory and tremble at my presence as the old ones guide my step".

Pushing the door open, he accidentally knocked a man over who was standing on the other side about to leave. Ignoring the man on the ground, Kor looked around nearly stepping on the man, before glancing down at the man with a confused expression as if the man chose to lay down there, "The hell's wrong with you? Can't hold your liquor?" Kor said grabbing him by the arm and hoisting him up, giving him a firm pat on the back which caused the man to stumble forward and let out a large belch as he stumbled around and ran out of the bar, far away from Kor. The large man wearing pokémon fur all over, scales around his waist, and oddly smelling of pine walked in. without bothering to close the tavern door, he went straight to the counter to get some cheap ale. Just a single mug, not enough to get drunk, but enough to raise his mood.

"HERE'S TO ADVENTURE!" Kor said excitedly slamming his mug against the table and shattering it. Kor was hyped, and ready to go. An adventure through and through. The entire time Kor came into the bar, making his entrance, Roh was quietly following Kor. Quiet and barely making any noise. A stark contrast to Kor's outspoken character. Ever vigilant, Kor looked around, it was not thirsty as it had drank spring water before they had arrived in town. Kor headed downstairs and had his name signed up. armored men were there to recruit people. To Kor these men were silly metal men that cared too much about mannerisms. Kor headed back upstairs and sat at a booth awaiting the journey to began. Glancing over at Azumi before looking at his supplies with Roh to make sure they had plenty before beginning the adventure. Kor was actually being quiet now. Having a casual conversation with his pokémon partner about travel readiness.

Dizzy sat on a beautifully wood carved bench in one of the many atriums of the palace, Haven and Nevah sat on either side of her like proud sentinels. This atrium was primarily connected to the meeting place of the High Court, and this morning they were in a meeting so the great carved doors to the chamber were closed and guarded. It was only in the recent months that they had begun to invite the Exalted Priestess of the Healing Church to the meetings due to the Church’s involvement with the general population and their exalted reputation among them, in a way, the Church understood the citizens on a personal level that the aristocracy could never hope to, thus having a representative from the Church was almost like having a representative voice and point of view of the everyday citizen.

Aeona was of course honored to be invited, and thus why Dizzy was now waiting, as Aeona’s attending priest and personal guard Dizzy had no choice to go with her, not that she would have chosen anything else to do, any opportunity to serve her Exalted Priestess was a generous gift. Dizzy’s fox ears twitched in slight annoyance as she couldn’t really make out anything that was being talked about in the meeting room other than muffled mumbles that were impossible to decipher. Aeona had made sure to instruct her to sit far enough away from the doors so it wouldn't be a problem unlike the first few times she had accompanied her Priestess. As a result it made Dizzy anxious and weary, she eyed the guards around the area with dubious eyes doubting their abilities, such men are usually so complacent at their jobs that they have lost their passion for it. Sadly if only they had faith, they would remain strong.

The open skylight of the atrium allowed for various flying wildlife to enter and exit freely, the vigilantly attended garden attracted various bird and bug pokemon, quite a lot of them still rather foreign to Dizzy, though some she did recognize were similar or were the same from the ones she’d seen in Fortuna. The air was rather warm, warmer than what Dizzy would like, but that was just a result of her originating from a much more frigid climate. She could tell that Haven and Nevah felt the same, Haven actually having the ability to do something about the heat, but Dizzy trusts that she had enough discipline to tough it out. It would ruin the gardens, and despite the heat Dizzy found them quite beautiful, though still paling when compared to the gardens on the terraces of the Church Cathedral and grounds.

The meeting lasted a bit over an hour, by the time it had ended it was still fairly early morning. Dizzy followed Aeona closely as they made their way through the busy markets bustling with merchants and people trying to buy their groceries and other goods in the morning. Aeona said nothing coming out of the meeting perusal, Dizzy silently followed with attentive ears, she knew that Aeona usually addresses her when they were crossing the market sector. Haven and Nevah trotted along on either side behind Dizzy.

Aeona glided through the crowds of people effortlessly, not appearing to be even taking steps. Her long elegantly flowing multilayered pure white robes trailed behind her with equal grace. The intricate silver embroideries and designs reflecting when it caught the light just right were otherwise invisible. She stood about a head taller than Dizzy with long perfectly straight waist length snowwhite hair that she leaves loose and pale icy blue eyes that seemed to glow on their own. Her beauty has been described by many, if not all, as impossibly beautiful. She wore a silvery circlet that was barely noticeable if not for the ruby red gemstone in the center. “You have an opportunity to satiate your curiosity my dear Dizzy.” she spoke softly, her voice was light, almost ethereal like. She didn't turn or raise her voice to be heard over the ambient noise around them, she had the oversized hood of her robes pulled over, hiding most of her face.

Despite the noises around them Dizzy heard Aeona’s words clear as day, a voice and sound she could recognize anywhere and through just about anything. “Mistress?”

“A part of the meeting today discussed a recruitment effort endorsed by the Court to be held at the Spinda Bar sometime later this afternoon for a mission to investigate the disappearance of several scout parties that were previously sent, along with a group of lumberjacks that worked in the Northeastern forests.” Aeona and Dizzy had made their way out of the market district and now headed towards the Healing Church Cathedral. They walked along a channel, one of many that ran through Winchester, towards a massive white marble structure in the near distance. “Recruitment is expected to be… an arduous endeavor, the common people’s discontent with the High Court and the King has grown to be quite turbulent.”

Dizzy nodded walking up next to Aeona as there was more space now, Haven and Nevah on either side of them now walking proudly as before, their blue misty tails and wispy ribbon-like fur undulated in the breeze giving them a sense of serenity and grace. “Do they want us to send priests to soothe the potential disturbance caused by the recruiter?” Dizzy asked.

“Not quite,” Aeona said with a brief smile, “They requested we send someone to join them on their ‘mission.’ They assure its a mere scouting mission, but insisted that sending a member of the Healing Church to join the team would quell at least some of the discontent of the people towards the mission, and hopefully encourage people to join the team....”

“Please excuse my questioning, it may be out of line, but it sounds like the Court is merely using our good standing with the people to coerce them to join….” Dizzy said with concern.

“A valid point my dear Dizzy, but after giving the situation some thought, we can use this opportunity to advance our standing and reputation among the High Court and the Aristocracy with minimal to no loss or damage to our relationship with the common people, as a matter of fact we may be able to strengthen the faith of the people in the church if this mission goes well.”

“And if it goes poorly?” Dizzy asked, she was growing concerned, not with the topic at hand but how many opposing questions she was asking her superior.

“Then it would be a minimal loss of reputation or faith for the Church from the people that can be easily repaired. That’s assuming if the people even consider the loss has anything to do with the Church, the entirety of the blame if things were to go bad would likely be put on the Court and the King due to the peoples’ scorn of their rulers. But in return we will gain more support among the Court for our assistance regardless of outcome. Either way it benefits the Church to send someone.”

Unable to find fault with her Mistress’s words, Dizzy felt reassured, as she usually does around Aeona. Aeona’s mere presence has always seemed to have a soothing calming effect on everything and everyone around her, making anger and frustrations one of the last things you would even consider. It was one of the many things Dizzy admired her for. “Very well, who will you send?”

Aeona stopped and turned to face her, “You of course.”

“What?”

“Well my dear Dizzy, to show the maximum amount of devotion, faith, and good will for everyone involved, who else better than the attending Priestess of the Exalted Priestess?” Aeona smiled, “And besides, you’ve expressed interest in the Guilds of Kelan and the leader that’s heading this mission belongs to one of these guilds, I believe it was called Solar Flares? Something rather uninspiring I must say…” Aeona giggled blushing slightly and continued on her way.

Dizzy was never actually quite how old Aeona is, appearance wise they seemed similar, but in Dizzy’s memory, Aeona has to be older than her by at least six to several years, or perhaps even a decade, but Aeona never seemed to have aged from the moment she saw her the from first time Dizzy met her in the Fortuna Healing Church Citadel till now. Despite this, Aeona still occasionally shows immature sides of herself though rarely and never in public around others. Aeona was right, Dizzy had always had an interest in the guilds of Kelan since they landed on its shores a few years ago.

“The Court seems to speak highly of the guild member that’s leading the mission, her name was er… Azumi or something like that. I’ve heard of her and the guild she’s in from some of the people who come though the Church. Apparently they have quite the renown.” The two of them finally made it to the Healing Church Cathedral, at least onto its grounds. It was already busy with activity, priests talking and explaining about texts to congregants or other priests, deacons preaching and spreading the word, and most importantly of all, the visitors of the Church that are seeking healing and rejuvenation from the Church’s Blood Administrators, a job that Dizzy is currently training in. A very sacred ritual and ability learned by the higher level Priests that administer the miracle-like healing feats the Healing Church is known for. “So” Aeona continued, “For the rest of the day I would like you to go make the necessary preparations you will need to accompany and assist Azumi and the team that will sign up for the mission. You will have access to request anything the Church has to offer you. Do not worry about me or your daily duties, I will take care of them myself. Now remember, you are representing the Healing Church, and I expect you to carry yourself as such and treat others as if they were seekers to join the faith with the utmost respect. And give me a report when you get back if you will.”

Dizzy turned to face Aeona and bowed deeply, Haven and Nevah followed suit. “As you command, Exalted Priestess.” she stayed bowing as Aeona left, leaving Dizzy alone. She straightened herself watching the Exalted Priestess as she was surrounded by other attendants and priests making their way into the Cathedral.

***

The evening came a lot sooner than Dizzy had expected. She procured a leather knapsack from the church quartermaster along with a fitting blanket, some rations including various dried meats, crackers, dried breads, a canteen of water, and some mana potions, a few days of toiletries. She was assured that most supplies would be provided, including some weapons, the latter of which Dizzy was not interested in.

Dizzy sat on the edge of her bed, something she was still not used to despite sleeping on one for years now, she had been raised sleeping on uncomfortable cots though her days of training at the Monastery and her early days at staying at the smaller churches in more rural areas. Dizzy rested her hand on a large curved object on her lap wrapped in fine white cloth with its dark steel handle sticking out one end. On the bed behind her was a folded up long staff resting against her buttocks as she sat. These were the two parts to her weapon of choice. The wrapped curved item on her lap is actually a long curved sword roughly three almost four foot long blade similar to a scimitar but the curve through the blade was more pronounced and the blade was serrated and double edged going from the front of the blade down its spine. The curved serrated blade is able to attach to the end of the folding staff forming a large scythe. Dizzy was proficient in both parts of the weapon, but her true mastery is the combined scythe, overall the weapon is large, the staff being just under half of her body height longer than she is tall.

Holding the weapon in her hand brought back bloody memories of her time in the Healing Church Monastery. The Monastery she trained in was known as the Order of Sanguine Serrations. Where combat techniques with the Church's serrated weaponry was heavily practiced and emphasized. As merciful, generous, and loving the Healing Church is, it’s combat forms are quite the opposite. Enemies of the church will be cut down with ruthless efficiency, their blood drawn for the all to see and as a display of faith and homage to the Church’s generous deity. The serrated weapons helped in this. Dizzy’s art in particular was precision striking, killing with a well placed blow while extracting ribbons of blood to mark a particular pattern, a very artistic and flashy form.

Haven and Nevah laid in their respective beds, comfortable and uncaring, just like them when they were off duty. Their beds are also just the unused parts of Dizzy’s bed despite having large beds of their own next to her bed. Dizzy could feel the edges of the serrated curved sword though the cloth she had drawn her fair share of blood from training and the few times her hand was forced to put down heretics. “You will not regret having put your faith in me.” Dizzy hopped off her bed and placed the weapon into her back, held in place with a special harness so the hilt was slightly offset from the back of her head, then placed the folded staff onto a different part of the same harness on her back so the sword and staff were nearly side by side. Dizzy was dressed in similar robes that Aeona had worn earlier in the day, Multilayered white robes with an oversized hood with two holes cut out for her ears, but it only has the silver insignia of the Church on the back that only shows up when light hits a certain way, and none of the other silvery embroideries and embellishments.

Dizzy made her way to the tavern, and by the time she arrived the sun had barely set and a crowd was dissipating out from the tavern. “Am I too late?” her tail swished nervously under her robes, then her ear twitched in the direction of a man approaching her.

“No, you ain’t missy!” a passerby man swerved in front of her, the smell of alcohol assaulting Dizzy’s nose almost making her flinch, “You’re jus’ in time fer me to take you home! An’ we can party all nigh’ long!” he slurred, reaching out towards Dizzy. Haven and Nevah looked ready to pounce on the man and tear him to pieces, but Dizzy’s body language was calm and confident.

Dizzy moved with elegance and grace ducking and dodging to the right in a single swift motion and guiding his hand towards his own body then down to his side. Touching him, Dizzy could feel the alcohol in the man's body, more specifically his blood. With what knowledge she has of Blood Healing, she purified a good portion of it filtering her mana quickly though his body then pulling it back out again from her point of contact, the purified alcohol suspended in a faintly glowing orb in her hand that she hid into the sleeve of her robe before moving on towards the tavern leaving the man behind more awake and sober than before. Dizzy tossed the orb onto the ground near the tavern where it dissipated into nothing before heading into the tavern.

The interior of the tavern was nothing remarkable to Dizzy, looking around at its lonely patrons she felt more pity for them than anything, wasting away here insteading doing something more productive or spending time with family and friends. She received several glances when she entered and a couple were surprised and others simply returned to their drinks. There was a sign on a pillar near the entrance of the bar, though it looked new, had seen better days, reading: “Call to Arms! The Kingdom Needs YOU!” Dizzy didn’t bother reading the rest of the fine print but it let her know she was in the right place and the sign indicated to head to the basement if interested so she did.

Dizzy was greeted to the familiar sight of the guard and a silver armored royal soldier in the basement of the tavern, there was another man in the room, Dizzy assumed it was an adventurer that signed up for the mission. He was definitely larger than the average person Dizzy was accustomed to seeing and his choice of clothing or lack of clothing was interesting to her, instead wearing various furs it seemed. She approached the royal soldier with a slight polite smile, the same one she uses to greet visitors in the Church. “Hello there good sir.” she bowed slightly to the man and he returned with a grunt and a slight nod, he seemed disgruntled and grumpy. She didn’t blame him, why would anyone do recruiting in a tavern of all places, especially a mission handed down from the Court. “I am Priestess Dizzy from the Healing Church, and I’m here to volunteer for the mission.” Dizzy smiled with eyes full of hope and energy.

The silver armored guard quickly scrawled down Dizzy’s info and whatever other information the man asked Dizzy answered with optimism. Dizzy found her heart pumping and her palms slightly sweaty from excitement. “That’s all for now Priestess, if you can wait around, we will be calling everyone that’s signed up for a briefing soon.”

“Thank you good sir, may good health be in your future.” Dizzy bowed slightly and left the man, looking around the basement she spotted another young woman in silver armor. “Hey there, are you signing up for the mission too?”

Bryn's morning had been nothing all too special. It was the same as it always had been since her arrival a week ago. While she would have loved to push forward in her travels, she needed a rest and time to restock on goods. The city offered exactly that, as well as some small requests for a bit of spare coin. It was a good thing. Extra money on hand always came in handy during her travels, though she couldn't say she was all too hard pressed to make some. Despite having been from home for awhile, her family did occasionally send her spare money as well. The only problem with that was the time it took to get to her. Generally it had to go through someone in her old guild and then it'd find her after they had been able to track her current location. Truly it was a hassle, but it wasn't as if it was ever hard to find someone like her. She left a trail wherever she went. It wasn't rare for her to stir up some kind of issue wherever she traveled and get other's talking about her. Good or bad, she never cared what impression she left behind, as long as it was something. That was simply how she lived her life.

Making her way out of the inn she had been staying at, Bryndis moved along the street, minding her own business for the time being. Thing around here weren't her problem, or so that was how she liked to think. For a warrior like herself, it was a counterproductive mindset, but she cared little about that. In her eyes, things only became a problem once they were brought directly to her. Most would say it was a selfish way of thinking, yet Bryn saw it as others understanding what she was all about. If someone needed someone or something punched, they could come find her. It was as simple as that.

Such a carefree lifestyle was yet another reason she left behind such bad impressions. While she may be more than capable of getting a job done, she always expected said job to be brought directly to her attention. There was plenty of times she had walked past less than ideal situations and simply ignored them. Her reasons were generally simple; one, she didn't see a need to involve herself in affairs of others or two, the situation did not interest her in any manner. How she had ever made it this far was hard to believe. If anything, her skills heavily carried her as did her pokemon companions. Unlike her, they were more grateful to those around them. It was a miracle they hadn't picked up on her usual personality tendencies.

As Bryn made her way along, her attention was drawn from her own mind to a nearby soldier. Unlike most of the ambient voices that filled the air, his stuck out. Hearing him call out, she decided it was worth giving a listen. Folding her arms over her chest, a faint hum of interest escaped her lips. "A mission from the king himself, huh?" she mumbled. It was an intriguing proposal to say the least, and she'd be lying if she said she didn't find herself mildly interested. She could use the money after all, and there was no telling what others might think upon seeing her fighting skills in action. Perhaps it could land her a position among another guild, maybe one stronger than the one her uncle ran. That alone was enough to get her to settle on checking it out. There was no harm in showing up, even if she decided against helping in the end. With her mind made up, she made a mental note of the time and place where she would need to be later, and the continued on with her morning, knowing she had plenty of time before the gathering would happen.

*****

The day had long passed, and soon enough the sun was beginning to set. The time for the meeting had nearly come, and Bryndis found herself among the crowd of folks that had gathered. Much to her displeasure, the stench of booze filled the air, and all around were plenty of sweaty and disgusting people. As much as she disliked it, she didn't immediately leave like she wanted to. Instead, she found herself standing off to the side, doing her best not to lose her cool. Her patience was thin after all, and one wrong word in her direction would be more than enough to set her off. Luckily enough, none of that happened before the meeting started.

Hearing the soldier speak, Bryn let a soft scoff escape her lips. A scouting mission was less exciting than she had expected. That alone was enough to make her turn on her heels and prepare to leave, but as the sound of another voice echoed out, she stopped herself in her tracks and turned her head in the man's direction. His words, while perhaps true to some extent, disgusted her. Scowling, she had to hold herself back from rushing forward to knock some sense into the man herself. As the bickering went on, the more she found herself feeling frustrated. While the deaths of stranger hardly meant a thing to her, she still didn't believe in disrespecting another warrior's death. This man almost made it seem as if they had been sent out merely to die and those that took on this mission would be no exception. She could agree with some of his words, yet they made her blood boil nonetheless.

All her anger was swiftly halted when another soldier spoke up. Bryndis's gaze quickly moved to Azumi. Hearing her speak out against the man caused her to bob her head in agreement. It was nice to see some people were willing to call him out. If only she had been, but for once, she didn't make a scene. Perhaps that was far the better. Having a brawl break out because of her usual approach to problem solving, was probably not a good thing to have.

The crowd seemed to disperse quickly after, thus leaving Bryn to decide what she wanted to do. Finding herself in a mental conflict, the young woman hardly knew what she wanted. On one hand, a scouting mission sounded boring, but on the other, it was likely it would turn out to be more than she expected. That alone made her curious. Besides, she didn't wish to be a coward like the man from before. Her pride wouldn't let her.

Against all odds, Bryndis found herself moving towards the basement stairs, having made her mind up on her course of action. In her mind, she told herself, even if the mission was boring, at least the money would be worth it. She could only hope whoever else was joining wouldn't get on her nerves too much during the whole thing. Finding her way downstairs, Bryn took a moment to look around, quietly observing the others that were present. From the looks of it, not many had shown interest, but the few that had were surely an interesting bunch. Not allowing her eyes to linger too long on any of them, she approached the area where signups were being taken, and quickly scribbled her information down on the list before stepping back and moving off to the side.

Thorne found himself trudging along from a previous, cleaner town over from the one he was soon approaching. He had spent all week partying and spending every last bit of gold he had. A flashback took over his mind for a moment, the buzz of the much warmer time as apposed to his current one.

Surrounded by three beautiful women, the warrior was enjoying the dopamine high he had been on for days, quickly draining his often limited bank account. Good food, women and booze was all he needed in life, and he had been indulging on all three for the past week after a huge payout. Now at a hostess club, Thorne was on cloud nine, but by that point he was completely broke. It didn't take long for him to be thrown out into the streets. "Wait... Don't go-" The doors shut as he reached out. He sulked now that he had no hot ladies around him, but had the quick realization that what he needed was a job. It was the middle of the night though, so he walked until he came upon a bar with a crowd of people.

He listened in, as he and his pokemon got closer. While Thorne entered the crowd, he let his cunning Sneasel and a mighty Golisopod rest outside. They had been walking for almost an entire day after all, but he still had some energy left. He carried himself like he didn't have a care in the world, pushing past a few drunks with swagger before reaching the doorway. He was able to stand a few inches above the rest to see the soldier announcing his mission. "A scouting mission ey? Wonder what kind of cut I'll get." Thorne was fully prepared to partake. That's when the crowd began to shout taunts at the man. totally subscribed to the idea that it would be "oh so dangerous," as Thorne would put it in his head. He smirked at their cowardice, but that's what you get when you ask a bunch of commoners for help.

He couldn't tell who it was, but he heard a woman snap back at the big mouthed oaf. Thorne couldn't help but draw his attention to her voice. He couldn't see her through the crowd, but his Thorne senses assured him that she was a looker. He rubbed his chin and thought to himself. "Well now... time to turn up the charm." He cracked his neck and passed a hand through his hair before the crowd started to thin. Resting his arm up against the doorframe of the bar, he set his eyes on Azumi, and his senses did not do him wrong.

What Azumi saw when the rest of the men faded, was one hopeless idiot. Charming, maybe, but perhaps not charming enough for her taste. "Hey..." Thorne said with an obviously flirtatious smirk, before attempting to chat her up. "You sure shut that guy down quick, I like a woman who's got some bite." He began to bow in a sarcastic manner, mocking the prissy folk seen at royal balls. "Thorne Bradshaw, Heavy weapons expert. And you are?" He reached out a hand, confident he had charmed her.

Day 1

Azumi crossed her arms as she watched the people walk into the basement and sign up for the mission. She knew she had been assigned to lead it and she felt confident her experience in her guild had given her the ability to be in charge of a scouting mission. But recruiting people at a bar? Was it a punishment? She could easily just have taken a small group of three from her guild, the best one in all of Kelan, and did the mission. So why ask a bunch of strangers? It didn't matter, once the mission was complete, everyone would see she is capable of leading even a bunch of strangers to complete such task.

Her train of thoughts was lost as the priestess asked her a question. "Oh hello. Sorry was a little distracted." Azumi offered her hand to Dizzy, "I am Azumi Towers, I will be leading this actually. You seem a little young to be traveling out of the city, how old are you?" Maybe she was being paranoid or maybe they did sign up a teenager to her team.

Azumi's attention was then caught by the man walking confidently up to them. "Bite? I would never, that is such a dirty trick." Azumi replied, though she couldn't help but smile of the though of a warrior biting their opponent. "My name is Azumi Towers, I'll be leading this team. Glad to have someone with a heavy hit on our side, I hope we can count on you to be our tank and lead the group?" The man had confidence and he carried such a strong weapon, Azumi could only hope he could back it up in battle.

Veronica was out shopping with her little sister, Heather, in town. Mostly just food and necessities. But as usual her sister had suddenly disappeared on her. She carrying two paper bags in her arms with food and bread desperately wondering where her sister went. "Heather!" It was crowded day and it was hard to spot her. "Ugh She always does this!" She sontinued to call her name out and look around until suddenly she heard a commotion happening. It sounded like kids. She could hear them cheering and shouting. She followed the sound and found kids forming a circle watching a fight. Veronica's heart drop to her stomach. "Oh no not again." She sat her bags down and quickly ran over she pushed her way through and sure enough there was her little sister wrestling with a boy. "Great......ALRIGHT THAT'S ENOUGH!" Veronica said loudly enough for everyone to hear. The crowd went silent but the fight continued. She walked over and separated the two and pulled them by the collars. "Seriously again?" She let go of them and looked at the two. The boy had his head turned the other way avoiding eye contact and her sister had her arms crossed. "He started it!" The boy turned around angry and then shouted. "No I didn't you did!" They started to lunge at each other but Veronica stopped it. "I don't care who started I'm stopping it." She then grabbed Heather's hand. "Come on." She then started walking pulling heather with her. Heather looked back at the boy and stuck out her tounge at him. He made face back at her and then she turned back around. "I'm not saying sorry." Veronica glanced down at Heather and then smiled a little. "You should I told you not to leave my side and what do you do? You leave. And You have to stop picking fights with that Alex kid and yes yes I know what your going to say. 'He started it' Well he might have been teasing you and provoking you but you were the one that lunged first right?" Heather didn't said anything she just puffed out her cheeks and pouted. Veronica laughed a little. "Your such little tomboy." Just then Veronica remembered something. "Ah! I forgot I left the bags over there! I hope those kids didn't...." She let go og Heather's hand. "I'll be right back don't move." Veronica ran back to get the bags.

While Heather was waiting on her sister she dusted off her dress and looked around then she suddenly heard someone call out.

"Step right up step right up!"

It was a Kelan solider making a announcement. Heather walked closer and listened. Veronica suddenly showed up behind her listening as well. After the he was done Veronica stood there for a moment thinking. She had been thinking about joining guild recently and taking up jobs like this. It was something her parents did and well she wanted to live the same life but..... She glanced at her sister then sighed. Her sister had mentioned she wanted to do pokemon training and actually 10 years old was usually around the age people started that but Veronica was much to nervous to let her sister go alone she was also to nervous to leave her sister alone hence why she never joined a guild.....though maybe....

-------------------------

It was evening now and after thinking it over Veronica decided to the leap. Besides her and her sister could use the money. Veronica and Heather stood infront of the bad as well as Heather's pokemon Sylvia. Well she was more like family/pet they've had her for couple of years now. Sylvia had one of her ribbons wrapped around Heather to keep track of her. It was always amusing how Sylvia seemed to watch out for Heather. Veronica turned toward Heather then bent down to look her in the eye. "Now listen stay close and obey everything I say got it. You do one thing to make me think your not mature enough for this we're leaving got it?" Heather looked at her annoyed. "I'm not a child." Veronica did everything she could not to laugh at the statement. "....Right just listen and do what I say alright?" She then straighten back up and headed inside.

She actually worked at this place some nights. Sometimes it was fun other times she fighting off drunks who got to handsy. She watched as a solider wearing gold armor stood on one of the tables and his announcement.

After the announcement was made, which was interrupted by a man she unfortunately knew she grabbed her sister's hand and headed inside. She quickly tried to make her way to the basement but of course she heard a voice call out her name that she was desperately hoping to avoid. "Hey hot stuff!" Veronica sighed. He was part of guild which one she honestly couldn't care to remember which one. He's name was Zac and well...he was quite the lady's man so to speak. "Not tonight Zac! I'm in no mood!" Luckily he didn't say anymore but she knew that wasn't the end of it. They went down to the basement and when they made it she noticed others had already arrived. Her and Heather walked over to the sign ups and wrote down there information then sat down at one of the tables. "This is exciting isn't it sis?" Veronica looked at her and smiled. "Yeah I guess it is....."

~Kor 'Bright Fist' Dhor...~

Kor stood up and slapped the top of the table causing the table to wobble around. "So now what? We're waiting or something? I wonder if I got enough time to get another pint" Kor said glancing around for a tavern waitress. Then the door opened and in came a woman with a child behind her. Glancing over at them as they passed by. Kor let out a rough grunt as they passed by, clearing his throat.

Kor then looked over at the other group that was forming. One of them was a woman calling themselves Azumi and claiming to be leading the scouting group. A few others had been speaking to her. The second was a fox of a girl. Furry little thing. The girl's hair reminded Kor of an absol's fur, but Kor came here for work, not a pelt. The next was a flirtatious lad. It didn't look like it was working, but Kor respected a person that was brave enough to take a chance.

"So your the one leading the group, huh?" Kor said planting his hand against the wall. Kor looked around again, "The name is Dohr. A bit of an odd group, but that's none of my concerns. Though hopefully we'll have enough meat for the road" Kor said. None of the people among Kor were kin nor did he know/trust them enough to tell them his blood name, so he used his tribe name.

Dizzy was taken a bit aback, it had been a very long time since anyone has commented on her age let alone ask her about it. Dizzy shook Azumi's hand with a wide smile, "I'm Dizzy, a Priestess from the Healing Church. I'm actually twenty years old, I know I look way younger than my actual age, I guess it's both a perk and a curse about being a Demi-human, some mixes make us look way younger or older than we actually are." Dizzy explained casually. " And this is Haven and Nevah, my best friends, guardians, and practically siblings at this point." Dizzy laughed introducing the light blue colored Ninetails sitting with perfect posture behind her. "So, you're going to be leading the mission? I look forward to working with you." Dizzy bowed slightly along with Haven and Nevah. Dizzy's long pointed ears twitched and she glanced at a pair of sisters that just arrived into the basement, the younger sister expressing her excitement loudly. Dizzy had learned at a young age to tune out a lot of noise when she was near populated areas to avoid over-stimulation, but she had trained herself to listen for keywords or pitches in voices as a way to protect herself and/or others.

There were a few others around Azumi now, others that have signed up for the mission, the larger than average man she had noticed earlier was named Dohr, his rugged-ness reminded her of some of the powerful Mountain tribesmen of Fortuna perhaps he was a decedent or distant relative. Another young woman with brown hair and green eyes that signed up but kept to herself. Then there was another man clad in impressive looking heavy armor who introduced himself as Thorne Bradshaw. Dizzy was impressed with how Throne was able to even move in the armor. The Church teachings had always taught her that an individual that wears armor is a sign of their own insecurities in combat, both offensively and defensively. Armor isn't necessary if you never get hit or struck. Taking damage or hits are simply a sign that you are lacking in your own training and discipline. Lighter and less clothing means a less encumbered fighter, speed, agility, nimbleness, and precision are the determining factors to close-combat victory. If one does take damage it is seen as a test of faith, the blood drawn, an offering, and the pain you feel, penance for your own incompetence. It was a rather harsh way to live by as Dizzy was training in the monastery, though every monastery followed a slightly different version of the belief.

The Order of Sanguine Serrations was one of the monasteries that took the belief to the most extreme. Disciples from the Order of Sanguine Serrations were almost exclusively used by the Church to deal with heretics and heretical uprisings against the church, and on rare occasions are also utilized as peacekeepers for a variety of situations. In training, young disciples are forced to train with little to no clothing, regardless of gender, allowing for maximized free range movement. The techniques taught to them are meant to target vital points of the body usually vital organs, critical tendons and ligaments, or essential blood vessels. Each cut or slice they perform are all heavily practiced, at first from instructors to the disciples after which they are healed though Blood Administration, so they understand the pain and the effects of what they are doing, then the disciples practice on lifelike dummies, before moving on to closely supervised sparring sessions, and finally combat against a master to prove their mastery. For a disciple of the Sanguine Serrations to inflict such pain and suffering unto another, they themselves must first experience what it is like and if their faith in the Church is strong enough to withstand the penance.

Dizzy was further indoctrinated into the Order of Sanguine Serrations after her initial graduation from the monastery. Her faith was strong, her learned techniques were second nature to her thus she began learning of the Monasteries's most sacred and deadly arts known as the Execution Forms. The techniques were designed to quickly, if not instantly, end the life of another while displaying a grisly and artistic scene, through a singular strike or a quick sequence of them. In Dizzy's case, due to her choice of weapon and particular set of skills, her Execution Forms were very grisly and even more so morbidly artistic, so much so that it bothered Dizzy how much her instructors revered her for her forms.

Turning her attention back to the group that gathered around Azumi she listened to Dohr's fleeting concern, "Well, I'm pretty sure we can go hunting for more meat if the group does run out." Taking a closer look at Dohr's outfit he had an impressive amount of furs on him, surely he is no stranger to hunting for his own meat or any kind of food, as a matter of fact he looked like he lives off the land completely.

"Oh, I can certainly take the lead." Thorne said with a wink. Internally though, he knew this one was a lost cause. "A dense one for sure..." he thought to himself with a mental sigh. With a little push, he gets himself off of the door frame to stand up straight. Thorne turned around to see Snips, his Sneasel, glaring at him with a judgmental look on her face. "What?" He asked, but knew that it was his flirting that had her so annoyed.

Snip's right hand began to glow a fiery color, before throwing a Mega Punch into Thorne's side, forcing him to hunch over in pain. "Oof!-" He immediately held his side. "...What the hell!" He said through a wheeze as his Pokemon stomped away. "Should have never taught you that move..." Thorne quickly recovered, while his Golisopod, Holt, chuckled at him a few paces behind him. "Something funny about this?" He said through gritted teeth, and Holt quickly stopped. A sweat drop ran down his hard shelled face.

Instead of heading down into the basement like the others did, Thorne and his crew decided to head straight for the forest after everyone else went in. His curiosity was too great, even overpowering his growling stomach. It hadn't taken too long to reach the wooded area as they traveled to The North East Forest, the one that he knight had mentioned. "Why don't we take a look for anything that screams 'a dead scouting guild.'" Thorne suggested with a crooked grin. "At least a sign that they were here, look for swords, some shields maybe." Thorne kicked around some brush to see if he could find anything while Snips and Holt did more or less the same thing. "Need a light?" He asked the two, before creating a small ball of yellow tinged light on his finger tip, before tossing it up into the tree line as it grew, giving them clear sight of the area.

Day 1

Azumi gave the big fellow who left an odd look, like if he knew where they were going. But, he had the right idea.

"Let's move out, check supplies, weapons and armor." Azumi said as she grabbed a big leather backpack and placed it on her back. "We are to travel all night, rest before sun rise, and continue to travel. I estimate we will reach our destination in the afternoon."

"Registered!" A girl's voice sounded through everyone's mind.

"Sorry everyone, that is Nana. She is one of my partner Pokemon. She has just created a telepathic link to all of you. Don't worry, she can't read your thoughts without permission, but she can sense your feelings. Meaning if you are in distress she will contact the rest of us. However, her reach is of half a kilometer radius, so try and not go get lost while in the forest."

At the end of her short instructions, Azumi lead the group outside the bar, where a Gardevoir appeared out of nowhere, curiously and carefully looking at the strangers she had just linked with. From the shadows though a second Pokemon emerged, a tall mean looking Ursaring, who walked towards them as if ready to fight and couldn't help give the new members of their party a nasty look. With a soft grunt, he took the backpack from Azumi and put it on.

"This is Keia, my partner Ursaring, he looks mean but he's really a big softy. Just, don't touch his food or wake him. Also, try to avoid eye contact." Azumi said in a apologetic tone.

As the group left the city and began their journey through the long grassy fields before the forest. Walking through the night was the easy part, there were nowhere for bandits to hide do to the lack of trees and the farms around the area which always had Pokemon guarding the perimeter. Nana also helped with that, sending vibes to any Pokemon nearby so they were aware they were passing through. The fields had plenty of fairy Pokemon floating around, like Cottonee and Flabebe being the most common. After an hour or two walking through the area, they finally reached the forest that went around Fairy Village.

The forest had a strong magical feeling about it, with even more fairy type Pokemon appearing in the area, like Ralts, Spritzee, Morelull and Impidimp. However, it also included Pokemon native to forest areas, like some common birds or grass types. Despite being the middle of the night, the moon light and the activity of all the active Pokemon seemed to illuminate the place, making it easy to travel through without any issues. When the forest began to grow more quiet though, due to dusk being close, Azumi stopped the group at a small clearing.

"Alright, we will have a two hour break, enough to get a small nap, cook and eat or just simply rest." Azumi smiled as she helped Keia take off the backpack. "I probably don't have to remind you all but, hunting Pokemon in this area is strongly prohibited by the Fairy Village, so please avoid doing so. Fairy Pokemon are very adorable but also very deadly if angered and we don't need to add any trouble to our long trip."

Azumi pulled out a small box with what seemed some sandwiches and another with a fruit salad. She sat down with her legs crossed and began to eat along with Nana who took the entire fruit salad for herself, while Keia, leaned against a tree and began snoring.

Kor nodded his head in agreement as the request to move out. Supplies plenty and people ready to go.

Lots of traveling. Lots of walking. And Kor was gonna be traveling with these folks until the next afternoon? Kor took one more glance around the room to see all the people he'd have to deal with.

Squinting his eyes and looking around for what could have caused the word Registered to sound off in his head. It definitely wasn't Kor's voice, nor did he suspect it came from his lucario. Though that suspicion was taken away when Azumi confirmed it was Nana. Kor thought it was weird having an extra voice just jump in his head like that. He'd expect that sort of behavior from The Old Ones, his gods. Though this minor connection didn't seem significant enough to concern him, for now at least.

"Hmm! So that thing is talking to me in my head" Kor thought to himself as he watched the gardevoir appear. Kor was still mostly thinking about food, and collecting various animal bloods for ritual needs. A rather graphic image of a roasted grumpig with a missing leg, sitting over a fire sat in Kor's mind.

Kor chuckled to himself when Azumi called the ursaring a big softie, cause Kor was thinking about big soft animal pelts.

As they made their way through the fields, Kor saw the flabebe and cottonee. Neither of them interested Kor, due to their lack of meat nor any useful blood for Kor's rituals. Then they were soon at Fairy Village, and then the Forest. Little fairy pokemon running around. Kor threw a large rock at it, but missed. The impidimp stood atop the rock and chuckled at him in a mocking way before running off. As Kor turned around and continued walking, a small rock was thrown at him, which might have hit him in the back, had Roh not caught it. Being the bigger pokémon physically and metaphorically, Roh just dropped the rock and continued moving.

Eventually there was a clearing. It would probably be a good time to rest. Kor ate a small piece of jerky from his satchel. Meat that had come from a smeargle.

"Hmph! Fine fine... No trouble" Kor said picking a nice boulder to sit on. Kor didn't need any fairy blood so he had no issues with causing no problems. Well aside from minor altercations like throwing rocks apparently. But for the most part, he behaved pretty well. Kor pulled out his talisman. Holding it close to his chest, he began muttering to himself in his tribesmen's language. The talisman, a chiseled stone, gave a feint glow to it. After a few minutes Kor put h is talisman away and cracked his knuckles. Slapping his hands on the sides of the boulder he sat on. Roh sat relatively near Kor, silently sleeping in meditative posture.

Startled by Nana’s sudden voice in her head, Dizzy jumped. It had only been a handful of times where she heard voices in her head and she believed those to be of the great Healing Spirit speaking to her, and to have a pokemon do it and talk in her mind seemed… blasphemous. Dizzy’s sudden jump caused Haven and Nevah to startle and look at her quizzically. “It’s alright,” Dizzy assured them, “stay on alert when we enter the forest.

The group was joined by Azumi’s other two pokemon as they left the bar, and with a few more short instructions, the group was off heading into the forest. Traveling through the moonlit forest reminded Dizzy of times when she was back in Fortuna trekking through a similar forest towards an unsuspecting village that had been labeled as a village of heretics and her mission was simple: silence the heretics, spare none for they are irredeemable.

Eventually the group stopped for a break in a small clearing, Dizzy took a seat on an overturned tree trunk that was beginning to be overgrown near the edge of the clearing listening to Azumi’s warning, Dizzy agreed with the leader’s statement. Though Dizzy was more than confident that Haven and Nevah would be more than capable of handling anything the other wild fairy pokemon would be able to throw at them if they were allowed to hunt, but for safety, Dizzy took out some dried meat and handed a generous piece to each of the Ninetales, they looked so ethereal in the moonlight and the added fairy forest ambiance only increased the effect, they laid down on either side of Dizzy their long smokey tails gently swaying around her in the night. Dizzy began absently chewing on the remaining piece of dried meat letting is salty flavor and chewiness fill her senses.

~More Kor...~

Kor continued to mutter to himself in his tribal language for several more minutes. Then silence fell. Kor had a certain aura around him as he sat there close-mouthed. An assertive but calm relaxed aura rolled down his arms and legs and off the tips of his fingers and toes. Lingering in the air around him.

A long inhale before a slow exhale. Roh was still beside him resting. After two more inhales/exhales Kor opened his eyes and looked as if he was staring a thousand yards away.

He blinked then looked around. Same people he had left the tavern with were there resting and relaxing. Kor wondered if he had enough time fight someone. Kor stood atop the boulder and extended his arms as high as he could stretch them. Fingers interlocked letting out a cracking sound. He then dropped to the ground and sat on the boulder. He looked around at the others once more.

"Quiet ass bunch, huh?" Kor said slapping the top of his thigh.
