WIP JUST GETTING THIS UP
Name
: Sakaala Iarzumin
IMG_4411.JPG
IMG_4424.JPG
Nickname(s): Kaal
Titles: Fateseer, Dreamspinner, White Eyes

Age: 56

Rank: Seer

Race: Elf

Gender: Female

Description: Standing at about 5'7", she weighs 130 Ibs. Long black hair usually tied up, paralleled with startling blue eyes that shift to white when she is under the influence of magic. Pointed ears adorned with metal cuffs studded with jewels.

Art: Mana

Abilities:
Sensing emotions: she can sense the emotions coming from anything around her.
Mind: she can get into the mind of another, whether it be animal or plant, and take control of the organism. A special part of it is gathering energy from the organisms. She can drain the energy from small plants or animals, but it usually ends up in a dead spot on the earth.
Wishes: she can "grant" wishes, although it takes much energy and concentration.
Spells: She has learned a variety of other spells, but she is most proficient is futer-seeing in the form of Cleromancy.

Skills: She is extremely good at metal-working, her spells and talents making her one of the best sword makers in the known world. She can commune slightly with animals, and is accompanied by a large black crow named Blagden. She is quick and strong, but not as strong as many elves seen around. Kaal is also very proficient with poisons.

Equipment/Notable Belongings:
-A long double edged sword with a bluish cast to the blade and a green gem set in the pommel.
-Swan feather cape.
-A leather glove often worn during times of ceremony when Blagden perches on her hand.

Personality: She is rather guarded, keeping her intentions unknown to even the best mind readers. But even as she is like that, she is honest and true to her word. Sakaala is caring for close friends and pupils, but she is slightly distanced from society, living by her smithy in the middle of the vast forest Ovralir. This has gained her the title "Seer of Ovralir." Sakaala is a rather timid elf, and doesn't usually go out of her way to meet others. She has a strict "no-favor" policy, as she has been taken advantage of once or twice.

History: As an elfling. Kaal knew that she was different. Everybody knew, actually. She refused to play with the other elf children, deeming them too unruly and wild for her tastes. She instead spent her time watching. The culture of the older elves fascinated her, and she spent as much time as possible learning about it. Eventually, Kaal found herself next to Rhunon, the elf smith at the time. Kaal would watch Rhunon for hours on end, admiring the simple grace and skill it took to forge swords and imbue them with spells. Seeing Kaal's interest, Rhunon happily proposed taking on an apprentice. Kaal immediately agreed. From then out, Kaal was often seen tagging along with Rhunon and banging out smaller swords or daggers.

Of course, peace does not last. When Kaal was running errands on the outskirts of Avalan, she was ambushed. Five human bandits took her to a village hundreds of leagues away. She was sold as a slave to a beastly human lord. After suffering through torment, torture, and yet more torment when her magic abilities were discovered, Kaal had had enough. Even in a weak state from lack of Manacite as well as wounds, she managed to break her bonds and slay her capturer. Growing weaker adnd weaker, Kaal stumbled away, not knowing which direction was which, only relying on fate to bring her home.

She had asked, and Fate had answered. Kaal was found collapsed near the borders of Avalan by a scouting party of elves. They immediately brought her back, nursing her to health with amounts of Mana. What she had no idea about was the passing of Rhunon. When she found out, she grieved for 7 nightfalls, refusing to eat or speak. When the acceptance came, Kaal took Rhunon's place, but withdrew into the Ovralir Forest. Then the Paragons came. Two men and a woman visited to recruit. When learning of Rhunon's passing, the recruitors met Kaal. She agreed to help supply the Paragons, and wth further thought, asked to be trained. At first, they rejcted her. "Too important to die in battle," they would say. But she still persisted, until at last they agreed to teach her.

Months of training went by until Kaal stopped. She confessed that she had no taste for battle, and was almost kicked out until one elf had an idea. Kaal's powers were untested, but she could see the future. Why not be the Paragon Seer? She agreed, and under the guidance of a human mage, she thus became the Seer of Ovralir.

Name: Bronwyn Godfrey

1aef9d6aec125918f953550fcdde20b6--character-concept-art-character-portraits.jpg

Nicknames: The Bloodied Angel

Age: 31

Race: Human

Gender: Female

Description: Standing at 5’8” and weighing 154 pounds, Bronwyn is set apart from her fellow peers. Scars mar her back and arms, products of laborious training and many battles. What soft flesh would normally adorn a maiden her age is hardened and defined, that hardness extending to her cold stare behind eyes the color of ice.

Art: Ki

Art Abilities:
Only having studied the art of Ki for nearly seventeen years now, Bronwyn is still a novice in the skills she has learned thus far.
  • Eye for Prey – Eyesight is enhanced, allowing to perceive the slightest of movement nearby
  • Swift foot – Movement speed is enhanced four times over
  • Endure – Increase natural endurance six times over, gifting her with the necessary stamina to continue
Skills: (General areas of proficiency not related to magic art)
  • Swordsmanship – proficient with the two-handed longsword
  • Aggressive Aikido – When fighting hand to hand, Bronwyn implements an aggressive style of Aikido with her opponents. This style uses the strength of the enemy to her advantage to redirect attacks.
  • Quiet Song – Most of her life focused on battle and training, as a pastime Bronwyn developed a love for the Rebec (similar to an early violin). The tunes she played were soothing, in stark comparison to the havoc she brought in battle.
  • Concentration – Calming the mind, Bronwyn can focus herself in times of strife through Aikido practices of meditation
Personal Equipment: (Weapons, armor, etc.)
  • A longsword is her preferred weapon of choice, yet she carries a dagger for close combat when needed. Her armor is a heavy plate mail that’s kept her safe over the years, though is nothing beautiful to look at.
History:
As a young girl, Bronwyn was taught the meaning of loyalty, strength, and perseverance. Loyalty to family and the picture of success her mother strived for. Strength in the face of the odds and against men, hardening her physical body for power. Perseverance through what a weaker person would break from, but her mother assured her would make the name of her family shine. The Godfrey’s were once a powerful family in Northern Tirn, yet lost their influence after the Second Stampede and the patriarchs of the family were crushed within the conflict. The family was shamed and Bronwyn’s mother Griselda was enraged by their failure and promised to restore the honor of the Godfrey’s through her children.

With this promise, Bronwyn’s childhood was spent training relentlessly under her mother’s watchful eye, building her stamina and strength until she could easily carry out the labors of a young man at the age of 7. The girl became stronger as she aged, more than she ever thought possible, yet it was never enough for the desires of Griselda. She was given no remorse or motherly comfort through this uncompromising process, earning a whipping for her tears until she learned to hide them from her mother’s gaze.

The most joy in her childhood came from her younger brother, Alistair, and the wonderful games they would play when their mother was away. The two children lived under a fantasy together, where they wove great tales as warriors protected by a father who loved them. Yet each night when they returned to their home, the bleak reality of their dead father and unforgiving mother vanquished such childish dreams.

Bronwyn was unhappy most days, yet persevered through the relentless instruction with the faint hope to one day please her mother. She endured the slaps and beatings of Griselda if it meant Alistair and herself would one day live a better life. Bronwyn’s rosy musings ended abruptly on her thirteenth birthday and the day Alistair lost his hand.

Running errands for their mother, Alistair had been taking the back alleys for his routes like any other day. Yet, when a band of bullies decided to make the young boy their victim things quickly spiraled out of control. When the older boys were finished, Alistair was left lying in that alley, robbed of the money he had earned for the day and his left hand.

Enraged by her brother’s mutilation, Bronwyn set off to avenge him. Finding the boys playing ball in the streets, the vengeful sister lured the group of bullies out to the fields for what they thought would be quite a romp. However, the girl ended those daydreams with the split of an axe, taking each of the three boys left hands and their dreams of fulfilling futures darkened. Bronwyn felt something stir in her chest at that moment, a new sensation that was unfamiliar yet not unwelcome. The pleasure of vengeance, of the power over another being was a sweet poison that was now set in her blood.

That night as Bronwyn sat by her brother’s bed, she didn’t realize this would be the last time she would see him for years to come. Earlier that day as she brutally tore the hands from the boys, a Seeker stood watching the mutilation with a sense of disquiet. What talent found in such a young girl that was being misused and misguided. When the Seeker sought out Bronwyn, Griselda was elated as her hard work finally paid off. Her only daughter would be sent to train under the prestigious Paragons, to restore a sense of honor to the Godfrey name. For Bronwyn, it was a chance to break away from her cruel home and she intended to make a life for Alistair in herself one day – though the lofty title of Paragon was yet to be seen.

Eighteen years later, Bronwyn had hardened her skills under the teachings of the Paragon order, learning a new meaning to the words of loyalty to a cause, strength for others, and perseverance through hardship. She’s grown much from the young girl she once was, yet that poison of bloodlust still runs hotly through her veins. As she aged through the battles she’s won, she’s earned the title of The Bloodied Angel, for the fair face burning with ferocity and name of Godfrey that looms over opponents before the final blow. Whether the name of Godfrey will be respected through her actions, that remains to be seen.

Personality:

Bronwyn is a cool woman, not easy to warm and quick to judge. She sees strangers as potential threats, which bodes ill for creating bonds with others. She desires a sense of purpose in her life, as she has finally reaching a time where she can make decisions for herself. All she knows is that she wants to succeed for herself and the sake of her brother, who she may not even recognize all these years later. She has come to take comfort in the power she has over others, but fears the darkness that lurks just behind that may overwhelm her own desires.

Nickname(s): Bonewaker

Rank: Senior

Age: 173

Race: Elvish

Gender: Male

Description: 6'8, 200 lb, ectomorph. Narcio currently is bald, besides his brows. Though old, he has elvish genes and an access to manacite to keep him from appearing his age. There are tattoos on his body of scroll-work. He wears three piercings; one on the lobe of his left, two on his right ear which are on the lower helix and lobe.

Art: Mana

Art Abilities: (Maximum limit: 10)
  • Os Surgit: The maniplation of bones. This ability makes it possible to puppet the skeletons of the dead. A skilled user can form a protective shielding in the shape of the long gone flesh. A claw of such a thing can cut as easily as it's living counterparts. *Currently, Narcio has a set of bones he uses often, which are a tiger, a wolf, a raven, and a panther. Color is arbitrary, and can change as need be, for easy recognition.
  • Mana-sight: By crafting runes, and securing them in the eye sockets of the skeletons, Narcio can see what they see.

  • WIP

Skills: (General areas of proficiency not related to magic art)

Personal equipment: (Weapons, armour, etc.)

Personality: (General demeanor, fears and desires, likes and dislikes, whatever etc.)

History: As Narcio Lucrèce Reusso might tell it, he was born in a moderate town of commerce, supported by the trade coming in from the railway built through the center. As with any true Elvish territory, a proportional cluster of manacite to the ratio of the populace provided the necessary mana for the people to secure their long life. The Reusso family had been there since it’s origin. They were mainly keepers of the dead; they tended burial sites, performed funerals, crafted the simplest coffin to the most expensive tombs, and they were rumored to practice necromancy.

During the Second Stampede, his family earned great honors— some secret, due to the dark rumors of their necromancy. Their eventual exodus was brought on by trouble within the family. Narcio’s mother’s family, the Larcion clan— though ancient family friends and sometimes family members, as is the case for Narcio—broke their friendly bonds due to an unnamed offense. Though neither would tell the story straight, nor could either quite prove their innocents, nefarious political deeds over a spread of years managed to reduce Narcio’s families good standing, pushing them to a village with considerably less manacite, to the edge of high society. Narcio wasn’t much of a politician. He had little to no desire to work out the mess of lies and back-stabbing to know who did what. All he really saw as the issue at hand was that he didn’t want to waste his time slowly dying of mana-deprivation— at least not for such a disgraceful reason as being shamed out of their hometown by a potential lie of a rival.

There were many ways of coming back into the good graces of society. One of the ways being the faulty memories of events in the past, but with the elves, it is a much longer wait. Another being the opposite of what accusations are said about you to the point were none can deny the truth. For the Reusso family, it was that they were self-serving, unpatriotic, and certainly not the kind of family you want to preside over your beloved dead that eventually had them leave. Narcio took his families exile personally. There was only one path back to their former glory.

At every festival that took place in the town of his birth, every time a Reusso crossed paths with a Larcion, there would be tension, there would be hostility, even though none could quite place a reason than some justice that had to have been the fault of the other. This you learned growing up, in bits, and fully understood as an adult. However, as a young woman just at her eligible age of courtship, her head filled with fancy dresses, hands wreathed with flowers, and a naive desire for that elvish knight in shining armor, such cold-hearted inclinations had little to no time to take root. Narcio set his eyes on Aela, the daughter of the patriarch of the Larcion family.

Through events designed or by accident, the girl met the man and became a woman within a few short months. Family clashed with family, accusations flew like arrows, but in the end, none could deny that a bond between the two families was now inseparable. Narcio had come to be in possession of the jewel of the patriarch's heart, and her progeny. Were there attempts made on Narcio’s life? Perhaps. But none lived to tell the tale and Narcio was content not to make a fuss about it. His family was back in town, he had a wife as beautiful as manacite, and their talent of necromancy was not as taboo anymore after the people witnessed a few enemies subdued by the strength of the Reusso family back in the Second Stampede.

Status, wealth, and their rightful place in their world had been restored. But this is not the end of Narcio’s story. His wife, Aela, gave birth to one too many children. In the eyes of elves, you were selfish who had more than three offspring. Manacite grew slow, the land did not supply the demand. Once more Narcio faced rumors, whispering, and possible shame. Luck was running out. Until the day a Paragon Seeker came by, having heard the tales of the Reusso ability. Narcio quickly took advantage of the invitation. What better honor? And no one gave a second thought about the number of children his wife desired. Besides that, Narcio could have his peace from, or his fill of, family life as he wished if he made it as a Paragon.

A Paragons life did not prove as easy as his schemes back home and he found himself wishing for a break to the family he believed he needed a break from. Narcio found a new meaning of humble. Through trial and error he pushed himself to a limit he did not perceive possible. He had his hand in crafting runes, improving the focus and range of his abilities (Os Surgit), soon giving rise to the nickname ‘Bonewaker’.

From time to time Narcio would visit his home and meet with his devoted wife, checking up on the relations of the Reusso and Larcion families, spend time with his children (though some have already grown and left, or married), and then leave once he had his fill of the daily life of a husband and father. Though he doesn’t look it, Narcio has respect for the life of a family man. Some will still say he does not give it the respect and love it deserves, and perhaps one day he may learn so in the most tragic way.

Art: Ki

Art Abilities: (Maximum limit: 10)

Personal equipment: (Weapons, armour, etc.)
  • Naginata

  • Various shirukoi outfits

Personality: (General demeanor, fears and desires, likes and dislikes, whatever etc.)

History: Born in the city of Wei-Qin on a sizable island, within the territory of Yolta, to parents Zhou (a Paragon) and Lyn (née Fujiwara) of the Hua family, Maelyn is the older one of two children. Lee is five years her junior and an up-and-coming prodigy in his own right. Although their family has been apart of the Paragons, their tradition is that they raise the children at home until they're about 9-10 years old. At this time they are schooled in their culture, dance, art, music, all five main languages, writing, literature, poetry, etc, and they learn the ways of their people, and they are tested to awaken their ki. That is generally awaked by the time they are 10. Any older, and they are considered not suitable to send to become a Paragon, though there were exceptions.

Once Maelyn was brought to the fortress of Paragons her clan has long been apart of, she had no time to gaze around or gawk. Her father, Zhou, trained her to her wits end in the martial arts, strategy, etc. All the while the calm demeanor her mother instilled in her chipped at the edges from the discipline her father exercised. Currently, she is an Apprentice. There will be no favoritism bestowed upon Maelyn, and in fact, Zhou holds her to a higher standard. Time will tell if he deems she is worthy of ‘Warrior’ rank.

Maelyn can be often found training in the section of the fortress built on from her ancestry, but accessible to the other Paragons.

Name: Renaldo Daelson

368ddad9cce75fd2a98777e54a70c78e.jpg

Nickname(s): Ren

Rank: Ward

Age: 12

Race: Human

Gender: Male

Description: About 59 inches tall, around 90 lbs heavy. Short, thick, black unruly hair and black eyes. Fair skin of the men in colder climates. The helix of both his ears are scarred.

Art: Ki

Art Abilities:

Vocal Mimicry: Being able to internally morph his throat to create identical sounds of what he hears.

Skills:
-Basic farm-related abilities, such as riding horses, fixing wagons, growing crops, roping animals, etc.
-Hunting with a bow, a gun, and a spear
-Skinning animals for food
-Sewing up gaps in clothes, etc.

Personality: Unassuming, boyish, a bit hot-blooded at times. Ren’s curiosity is difficult to satisfy. The more he learns about the threats and the unknown of the Beyond, the more he felt a calling to understand it and to tame it like the wild animals he’s met. Ren fears being in ignorance— such is not bliss for him. Ren fears he will fail to make his parents proud and that he will not make it as a Paragon. Aside from that, he is afraid of causing more trouble in an already troubled world. That being said, Ren has his flaws. He’s often a showboater, especially when it comes to his talents with animals. He can be biased in favor of animals to a degree that may come off as apathetic towards people, but he does hold concern for people too. Ren can be a tad reckless with his own safety, which in turn, may actually endanger others— a detail he tends to forget in the heat of the moment. A few good things about Ren is his internal compulsion to make things right. At times he may slink away in a kind of depression when he makes a mistake. Then he contemplates how to fix the situation, makes his attempts, and so far has refused to cease making amends even when the person explicitly has declared him a menace and to leave them alone. Ren loves animals, he loves caring for hurt ones, making friends out of the aggressive ones, and so on.

History: Born the only child to Elthia Daelson, Ren has no memory of his father. He was sure he had seen him once, but the image in his mind had corroded over time. In addition, his mother barely talked about him at home and then she died.

Ren grew up on stories of his mother— a traveler, a cartographer, an explorer. Ren learned she fell in love with a man on one of her road trips, but as the story is told, she could not stop roaming, even for love of this man. Ren’s mom dropped by the village of her birth to give birth, stayed for a handful of months, left with Ren to travel more, coming back from time to time, and may have continued if not for the attack on the road. They say bandits had come— wrong place, wrong time. Some say it was more than a bandit since Paragons had gotten involved. Apparently it was a horrific death. Ren was too little to remember, or too traumatized— he had come away with scars on his ears, and his life. Ren’s mother’s brother, Aaron, took him into his home, to be a family with him and his wife Margo, and his son Orthar.

Orthar became as a big brother to Ren. Orthar married and left the farming village for college, to learn architecture for cities. Once in a while they would receive a small amount of money to help them out at the farm. It was helpful, but not nearly enough. Ren had always had an affinity for animals and plant-life. He paid some of the rent by helping the locals with their pets and crops. Ren practiced his mimicry so often he could fool the animals themselves. A time or two a critter as small as a mouse or as large as an elk would cause trouble in the village and all it took was calling on Ren to handle it. Eventually he would take risks in the woods with the forest animals. This was when he saw a Paragon for the first time. All he could see through the trees was the back of a figure, but Ren knew it must have been a Seeker. There were whispers.

Later on, when Ren turned twelve, he found his Uncle and Aunt speaking with a Paragon. Ren couldn’t be sure, but he thought it was the same kind of outfit as before. Curiosity got the better of him. Ren eavesdropped on the conversation from the thatched roof. They were talking about him! His Uncle explained Ren’s age, that he had only ever lived around their village. The Paragon acknowledged the point, but pressed that Ren can’t stay a boy forever. Whether or not this was an honor hadn’t been considered— it was a given. The part that ran into trouble was that Aaron felt a strong obligation to keep careful watch over Ren until he became an adult, and if he were to usher the boy out to the Paragons— well, what would Elthia say? In the end the Paragon said this was not even their matter, but it was out of courtesy they brought it up with the Aunt and Uncle. Aaron gave in. They said they’d give the message to Ren when he returned, after dinner.

It was all Ren could do to act calm and surprised when the time came. The faces of his Uncle and Aunt were a blur as he spouted off what exceptional luck he believed he had that day. How many people are picked like this? Ren had always felt a calling to the road, to explore, and what better way to do that then to also protect the innocent? Ren listed off all the benefits while, it seemed, he didn’t give proper attention to the sacrifices.

Gender: Male

Description: Rhys stands at 5'11, about 175 lbs. He's clearly fit, with a slim build. Although he has visible muslce on his upper body, his strength is mainly in his core and legs. He can be described as having a youthful, innocent sort of beauty, with pale, largely untouched skin, bright blue eyes, and feathery, white-blonde hair.

Art: Mana

Art Abilities: (Maximum limit: 10)
  • [ABILITY NAME - DESCRIPTION]

Skills: (General areas of proficiency not related to magic art)

Personal equipment: (Weapons, armour, etc.)

Personality: Rhys is, simply put, good. He's compassionate and empathetic, and seeks to solve problems (others before his own). He is also very intelligent, and rather soft spoken. He gains his strength from his meotions, compassion driving his moments of bravery. However, these tend to be few and far between, as he is usually more of a coward. Although he seeks to do good, he doesn't feel that "honor" accurately describes how he acts, as he would much rather know he is going to win a fight by stabbing someone in the back, than lose facing them head on. Perhaps that's his mother's lectures on their family instilling him with an innate fear of trying. Despite his caring and affable nature, Rhys is surprisingly closed off and stoic. An expert at mirroring the emotions he sees in others, he usually hides his own when they are not necessary, and avoids discussing his own problems. When he is not actively engaging in conversation, and even when busy with other non-verbal tasks, he is usually caught up daydreaming and thinking.

History: Some housing in a human city took León in when he was five. The guy's name is a bit on the nose, but the orphanage didn't take the time to learn his birth name. Sometimes this made it confusing since the name means 'lion' and there was a handful of them, all half-breeds. A Pride never disowned or orphaned a pureblood. A Ferran of a Pride could never be less than Royalty. The orphanage varied the spellings and pronunciation to make distinctions, but in the end, most just tossed a 'hey, Leo' or 'Leon' to a lion-looking kid. The half of León that was largely overcome by his lion-side was the fox. Or what they believe must be foxy.

León spent his youth keeping his head above water, what with bullies, 50/50 chance of an unreliable volunteer or 'worker' at the orphanage, and some just outright racism. The orphanage lost funding and some kids were 'let go' who seemed old enough. León happened to be one of the lucky few. The boy took to the streets with no ease whatsoever. He was pretty gullible, gullible as hell. Jokes were a way to relieve his stress and to try to make friends. During his tween-years he hit a rough spot and took a darker turn. León had pranked the wrong street gang. As harmless it was, he never thought it would mean sleepless nights in fear of death, daily beatings (if caught), and basically going crazy. Few friends, few hopes. León didn't really get one over the gang. He pretty much had a small win and punched out one of his big bullies, followed by an ass whooping he will never forget. On a better note, he awakened his ki.

From the moment León felt it unlock, he did his best to hone it. He had learned about the Paragons and about Galzis, and that man became León's idol. He really had no intention of becoming one. León tracked Galzis's stories the best he could while taking up odd-jobs, such as a stablehand, a valet, hired escorts, etc. On a job, he was present when a monster was attacking. León fought with it, nearly died, but the Seeker who he did not realize was already engaged in the fight felt León had potential. León was star-struck. He jumped to the chance. León's dream is to be better than Galzis. He also wants to meet him. Maybe he doesn't know what he'd do or say, but he at least knows what he wants.
