Self-Loathing Werewolf
You are alone in the woods at night.

You don’t remember how you’ve got there, hell, you’re not even completely sure who you are.

All that you know is that your name is Hope.

As you wander further through the gnarled and dead branches, you come across a strange building. It seems like some sort of mansion, or perhaps a hotel. Desperate for shelter, and against your better judgement, you race inside to escape the dark eeriness and mysterious sounds. As the house’s massive wooden doors closes behind you, you begin to look around. Despite the vacant and unlit interior, it doesn’t appear abandoned. There are ornate decorations, elegant silk furniture, and a massive chandelier. And that’s only the front entrance.

As you travel to the top floor, you see what appears to be several bedrooms, each labeled after strange words or maybe names. At the end of the hall, you see one room that is unopened. You look at the plaque on the door and it reads out your name. Hope. You try to brush it off, assuming it to belongs to someone else, until to hear something that makes your blood run cold. That’s reserved for you, you know. Shaken to your core, you don’t even bother to check to see who was talking to you you run towards the front entrance to escape.

As you pull on the rusted handles, you realized that it’s locked from the outside. Even worse, it turns out you were right, and the mansion isn’t abandoned after all. Instead, the mansion is inhabited by a slew of terrifying monsters, each of which embody a specific fear. With no way out, you have no choice but to wait out as long as you can, as the monsters welcome you into their deranged family.

Will Hope escape the mansion? Will they try to make a home here? Or will the monsters get to them? Whatever happens, welcome to Pandora’s Box.

1. All site rules apply.
2. Swearing is allowed, but no slurs.
3. Fighting IC is okay, but when it comes to OOC, please keep it outside.
4. Before you do anything with another person’s character, please ask the other person for permission first.
5. LGBTQ+ are always welcomed here!
6. Only one person can be Hope. Everyone else will be one of the monsters who inhabit the mansion.
7. The roleplay will take place only in the mansion and some areas around it due to plot reasons and will be mainly slice of life. If you don’t find that interesting, this may not be the thread for you.
8. Please try to be as detailed and active as possible.
9. If you reserve a position, please try to submit your form when possible. Do not kiss and diss.
10. Make sure to include everyone in the roleplay! Hope is not the main character, everyone is.
11. Hope does not have to be a girl if you don’t want them to be, nor do they have to be human.
12. The monsters can be tangible fears (fear of spiders, fear of clowns), or intangible fears (fear of heights, fear of enclosed spaces).
13. The monsters are representations of fears and their designs and personalities should reflect that. They are not representative of those with that phobia, but rather the phobia itself. (For example, if your character is the embodiment of cherophobia [the fear of being happy] they would probably be happy, cheerful, and energetic to an unnerving degree. They would not be sad or otherwise afraid of being happy.) If you’re having trouble coming up with designs for your fear, (especially if it is an intangible one), please let me know and I will help you!
14. Hope and the monsters are not supposed to be any preexisting monsters, so no werewolves, vampires, zombies, ghosts, etc.
15. Only one embodiment/fear per monster!
16. Written descriptions of your character only, no pictures. (In order to avoid copyright infringement and to prevent triggering of any real fears.)
17. Be kind to one another!
18. Dark topics may be discussed, but don’t go too heavy and treat them with respect. (This is a fun gothic horror thread after all!)
19. All monsters have a specific naming convention, that being the name of their phobia (minus the phobia part of course). That being said, your character can go by a nickname if you don’t want to call them by this naming convention all the time.
20. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please let me know.
21. Have fun!
22. Put “Boo” in other if you read all of the rules.

Name: Scopo
Age: Unknown, but seems to be vaguely young adult.
Gender Identity: Female
Fear Embodiment: Scopophobia, or the fear of being watched.
Appearance Description and Abilities: Scopo appears to be a vaguely mammalian creature due to the thick, scraggly black fur that covers her entire body, allowing her to easily blend into dark places, which is helpful for her spying habits. She is short, but not small, about the size of a large domestic cat. She is almost frighteningly thin, allowing herself to crawl into the various nooks and crannies of the manor, and lightweight enough to comfortably sit on top of someone’s shoulders. Scopo has very exaggerated features; tall pointed ears with a heightened sense of hearing, able to hear almost any room in the mansion, a long pointy snout able to pry its way into other people’s businesses, and an elongated prehensile tail, which she uses to hang from ceiling lamps and railings. Her most striking feature, however, are her large, disc-like eyes. Tall and wide in almost a cartoonish fashion, as well as multicolored, with spirals of pinks, yellows, and blues, bright enough to shine and see through in the middle of the night. Most say her gaze is the only reason to know when she’s there. Scopo has a wide mouth, with rows of sharp, pointy teeth, showing themselves off when she chatters away to anyone nearby for hours on end. While mainly quadrupedal, she occasionally stands upright, usually to converse with others or grab things, thanks to the help of her opposable thumbs, with hooked claws used to scale up walls, ceilings, and even other inhabitants. She appears to have no supernatural powers, however, she is generally quick, quiet, agile, and flexible, making her ways around the house through the walls and insulation, all without being noticed.
Personality: Scopo is both very curious and very nosy. She tends to follow various people around the mansion to see what they’re doing, and likes to chat with them even when she is clearly not wanted. While seemingly one of the more benevolent and well-meaning spirits of the house, she does tend to have a lack of self awareness. She has a bad habit of spying on others in secret, especially Hope, often chewing through walls and poking holes through painting eyes so she has lots of places to hide and observe. Nobody even knows if she uses her room or if she even has a room at the mansion, as she usually tends to either sleep on top of random furniture (including other people’s beds) or in areas she made in the walls, floors, and ceilings. She doesn’t mean to creep anyone else, but just has a lack of personal space, often hitching a ride on someone else’s shoulders and talking to them nonstop, being at worst an annoying pet. Scopo’s very friendly, often wanting to chat or play games with the other residents. Lack of attention seems to bother her, leading to her spying habits, as well as playing pranks, and wrecking up the house in an energetic yet restless fit. She’s a lot more chipper and full of energy than some of the other monsters, though she still has a bit of that creepy and mysterious edge to her, as well as being fond of naps. She’s a bit clueless, often calling everyone her friend and constantly “hanging out” with everyone in the manor, even when she is clearly not wanted. Still, she’s not stupid and can be quite witty, clever and even sarcastic at times, and even she knows not to mess with the more violent and malevolent members of the house. Not much is known about her, with Scopo refusing to say anything about herself, and it’s unknown whether or not her intentions are as pure as she makes them seem. She speaks cryptically and likes to mess with other people, but other than that she seems relatively harmless.
Friends: She sees everyone in the manor as her friend.
