What's the GM's position on a human who turned herself undead?

I would have to ask a few things like how did she do it? Where did she get the knowledge to do it?
See we already have someone who is undead but he was brought into the state by Vodoo magic. And even so it was not something he intended. For your character it would require that she knew about magic and stuff. While it would be easy to explain such as a rogue Fantasy creature promising her something that isn't the final result but when she goes through with it she becomes undead.

Okay, I think I've got something. She came across a tome of magic with instructions on necromancy. When she became deathly ill, she transferred her consciousness into a crystal, which she reinserted into her now-dead body to restart it, becoming a lich.
If that doesn't work, I have several backup characters, but I'd prefer to use her if possible.
