    Today was a day like any other, as far as Ava was concerned. Sure, she didn't quite get much sleep, but that comes with an overnight job. The family that she's been working for, a divorced mum and her three children, had a parent on a work trip, so she's spent the last few days sleeping at their house and looking after the young children. Speaking of, she makes a few faces at the baby in the stroller, while keeping a watchful eye on the two older children on the playground.

    While they wouldn't typically be at the park this early on a weekend, the children's father needs to pick them up for a family event. Speaking of, she calls the kids back to her as their father arrives, taking the baby out of his stroller as well. The sweet ten month old grabs onto Avalona's long hair and places it in his mouth. Tutting, she removes it from his mouth, handing him a pacifier to calm him instead. As the man approaches, the children stick by Ava, unsure of which side to take in this early morning. "Go ahead" She gives them permission, though they really don't need it, to leave her care and run to their father. Laughing, she follows them, pointing to the man and asking the baby in her arms "Who's that? Is that daddy?". While this is a typical action, it is in fact strategic. This poor child hasn't really had the chance to bond with his father and instead sees Ava as his second parent. While it's sweet, it makes for chaotic dropoffs. So, she tries to get him excited about his father's arrival to make this process easier.

    Handing the baby to the man, Avalona's heart pangs as the child begins crying and reaching for her. "It's okay sweetheart. Everything is just fine" She coos to him as the older children come grab their bags from her back. They each give her a hug and she wishes them well, before handing the diaper bag off to their father.

    She is about to update him on the children's needs for the moment when he cuts her off, quite rudely if I might add. "That's hardly an appropriate outfit for watching my children. I hope you aren't imparting your ways on them" In response to this, Ava just blinks in shock. Sure, she is wearing a crop top, but she also has a cardaign on and it's rather warm today. In fact, the children's mother, Ava's actual employer, is a friend of hers and the two dress very similarly.

    "I apologize sir. It won't happen-" She is cut off by the man turning his back and walking off with his kids. So, she's left in the middle of the park alone with an empty stroller and an apologetic look on her face.

    Well, guess it's on to her free day at least.

The music swelled into its final crescendo as Olivia executed her last pirouette for the routine. She pulled her ear buds from her ears and observed herself in the floor to ceiling mirrors that adorned the spare room in her apartment. Last night had been more sleepless than most, so she did the only thing she could think of to curb the restlessness, and danced. Her body glistened with sweat, and her feet ached slightly. Wrapping her sweat towel around her neck, Olivia made her way to the shower and cleaned herself off for the day.

Once she had freshened up, and put on a comfortable outfit, Olivia decided to leave the apartment early before heading to the studio for work. Her tiredness was following her, like something in ones peripheral vision that they just couldn't make out. It was going to become a hassle, especially for work. Her practice this morning had been less than sub par in her eyes, and she couldn't let anything get in the way of her art.

Olivia would go to the coffee shop first. Order the most caffeinated beverage available for purchase, and chug it like a frat boy at a party. It wasn't exactly healthy, or the best course of action, but she really couldn't think of a better solution at the moment.

She passed the park, noting it seemed rather busy for this time of day. A woman, presumably a nanny, was with a gaggle of children. While a man observed them from the bench. Just past the man, Olivia could see the small lake that resided in the park. Several swans dotted it's surface, floating along the shallow current. A pang of sadness hit Olivia. At this point in her life, she should be used to these sad spells. But their appearances never ceased to practically ruin her day, if it hadn't already been ruined. Several psychologists had diagnosed her with depression over the years, but none of the medication they prescribed eased any of the pain.

Olivia quickened her pace. Eager to get away from the park and the swans within that seemed to bring upon her newest mood swing.

Amaris was daydreaming, yet again. She finds it funny that the one day she has off from work is being spent at work, looking through their limited section of dress books in hopes of finding some inspiration. She’d put a couple of dresses together, taking the bodice of one and matching it to the skirt of another with the sleeves of a dress from a different book entirely. She’d need to sketch them out at home, but the idea is at least forming nicely. This tiny token of success had been enough to let her daydreams overtake her. She wonders what adventuring through the ruins in Greece might be like, what they would have been like in their prime, and the longing to free herself of this simple life begins to worm its way into her head again. It was lonely despite how many people she actually has at her side.

She blinks and, somehow, an hour has passed. With a shake of her head, Amaris puts away the books she’d been using and gathers her things. She makes a quick swing through the fantasy section, checking herself out one of her favorite stories before leaving. With a practiced awareness of her surroundings, she starts her reading on her walk to the bus stop. Her father had tried gently urging her out of this habit, mostly out of concern for her safety, but she proved incredibly efficient at keeping herself out of danger despite being seemingly oblivious to her surroundings. It’s much easier considering she walks this path twice a day, every day.

Jezebel’s morning had been a busy one. A few of her staff had been late, supposedly caught in the same traffic but she wasn’t about to keep track of such things. She trusted them not to be lying to her, as much as having to handle the beginning of their busiest day by herself irked her. They made up for it as the day progressed, knowing Felix would be out of the restaurant for a little longer than usual today. She can tell her brother is nervous, mostly because he’s had a smile plastered to his face since 8 o'clock that morning. He liked to hide it that way. By the time it reaches 1, he hasn’t even left yet. Not that she’s surprised, time management had never been a strong suit of his. “Shouldn’t you be taking your lunch break Lixy? Today’s the big day!” She yells from her spot in front of a delicious smelling stir fry. He sticks his tongue out and she reciprocates accordingly, much like they did as children.

Once he left the building, Jez started overseeing the orders going out and which waiters were carrying them. She catches a few mistakes, but for the most part they operate as a well oiled machine. Her phone buzzes in her pocket and, for the first time in probably ever, she checks it without going on break. The photo of her brother’s lunch set up brings a smile to her face and she rushes to Calista’s office to show her. “Cali, he’s doing it! Looks like he took your advice with the flowers, too.”

MENTIONS || Jezebel, Calista

Felix despises the weekends, at least during the day. The Lunch Rush turns into the all day rush and he can barely get a second to breathe. There’s at least one good thing to come of it, though: He can’t focus on his mood swings if he never stops moving. Plus, he gets to bug his sister all day. What more could he ask for? “Shouldn’t you be taking your lunch break Lixy? Today’s the big day!” Jezebel calls over the sizzle of frying food and orders being shouted from one end of the kitchen to the other. He scoops up another set of plates and sticks his tongue out at her before serving it to Table 12. So far, there’d only been one mix up in orders and both parties had been very understanding. He should be able to leave things in his very capable team’s hands for a couple of hours. He pulls aside one of the junior waiters, pointing out the tables he needs to cover before making his way to the back of the building.

For a spot that reeked of fish, Felix found it surprisingly peaceful in the back. The breeze mixed with warm sunshine makes him incredibly happy, though not nearly as happy as seeing a text from Rin. The two had been inseparable for almost a year if he remembered correctly. It felt like so much longer, as it normally does when you meet someone who just clicks with you. Today was special, at least he hoped it would be. As his sister and Cali had recently brought to his attention, he had an incredibly obvious crush on his green thumb’ed friend. Today would be the day he finally lets him know. They were set to meet at the Duck Pond and he’d need to be quick about it if he hoped to get there before Rin to set everything up.

One incredibly hurried trip home to get his picnic basket and change of clothes later, Fleix takes a seat on the cliche red and white checkered blanket to spread everything out. He’d brought a bouquet of flowers for a centerpiece and had Jez help him make the food. Now all he can do is await Rin’s arrival anxiously.

MENTIONS || Hattie / Sanctuaryforall1 Sanctuaryforall1

Business was slow today, something Kane surprisingly doesn’t mind half as much as he normally would. He’d woken up in a weird mood, head fuzzy and the world blurring past as if he were still dreaming. It didn’t happen often, but when it did he had much less tolerance for social interactions. Thankfully, his friends seemed to be safe from his grumpiness during these times. Speaking of friends, he wondered where Hattie had gotten off to that morning. He’d arrived home the previous night to the young woman sitting on his fridge with a bowl of cereal, a common enough occurrence that he didn’t even register her presence until she said something. He’d seen her passed out on the couch bed on his way to work, but found it empty when he stopped in to grab his lunch. She’d turn up, hopefully unescorted by the police.

For now, he focuses on what he’d been doing all morning: Cleaning up the Ranger’s Guild. He’d dusted, wiped down the cases, tidied up the small practice range he’d set up in a back room to teach archery, swept the floors, and even organized his desk in the office. He can’t think of much more that needs cleaned up, much to his frustration. With a shrug, he returns to the back room to lob some arrows into stacks of hay. He turns up the volume of the store’s radio for good measure. If anyone decides to come in, the bell above the door would sound over the music.

MENTIONS || --

Ah, the weekend. The only shred of time Elias got to himself in an otherwise demanding position doubled as the only time he got to shut off his brain and truly relax. Not to say he hated his job, taxing as it was. The weight of deciding the future of others had a tendency to tie more knots in one’s shoulders than sailors do on ships. Of course, it was nothing a good walk and a cup of something tasty couldn’t resolve on any given day. Or a trip to the bar to visit with his favorite bartender, for that matter. On this particular day, all options felt equally appealing.

The first stop on his stroll had been to his office. As much as he didn’t want to think about work at the moment, he’d managed to forget his phone in his exhaustion the previous night. Staying late to ensure a peaceful weekend had a way of doing that, but it was well worth the trouble. As were the opportunities such forgetfulness could offer, such as catching his favorite, restless coworker outside of the courtroom. He’d be hard pressed to miss Harley when they saw each other in passing almost every day. Unsurprisingly, she looks beat but unwilling to slow down. She’d work herself into the grave at this rate, something he warned her about quite a few times. Perhaps the temptation of something sweet will get her to at least take a break. What harm can that cause?

Elias clears his throat and approaches the lawyer with a friendly grin. “Afternoon, Miss Carr. I never thought I’d see the day you left the office of your own accord,” he teases, slipping his hands into his pockets, “I was just on my way to the cafe. If you’re not somehow coffee’d out and would like to keep me company, there’s a cake pop in it for ya.”
