It was in moments like these, that Isabelle was glad she still held some customs from the days before phones and the internet. She, for example, always brought some pen and paper in case there was anything she needed to write down that couldn't be done with her phone. As Mateo and Cassandra spoke, Isabelle took out a piece of paper and wrote a short note for Tabitha, in case she showed up and wanted to know where they were. With her back turned against them, she stuck the note in the car's windshield, not noticing the two members of her group were gone by the time she turned around again. She'd heard Mateo talking about eyes in the forest, but how had he managed to run so quickly? Was she going insane? Or was Mateo hiding something?

It didn't take long for Isabelle to catch up to them - enhanced speed and all. "Are you insane? There's nothing here!" she exclaimed, but her weary demeanor defied her words. She didn't see any red eyes, but she couldn't shake away the feeling that something, or someone, was watching them. Deep into the woods, away from any prying eyes. The hairs in her arms stood up as she turned her back on Mateo, pry bar in hand, waiting for the sensation to end or to be attacked, whichever came first.

Mateo's hands shook, when was the last time he encountered a beast with such eyes? The mundane life of humans that he observed on a day to day basis softened his battle instincts and even if his arrow once could kill the Python in one hit, he felt genuine fear standing there. Mateo's eyes scanned his surroundings, every second or so he'd close his eyes and try to catch something in the wind. He's trying to listen beyond the rustling of the leaves, the music made by the crickets and the gust of wind brushing past his ears. "Something is in here! I'm not--"

Boom, Boom, Boom. The steps are heavy, though this earth is massive, the steps whatever that creature made managed to make tremors that can be felt from afar. Mateo knows he's not in a place where he'd get cookies. Fighting this massive beast is not his priority, their main goal right now is just to stay alive and survive this. Mateo would grab Cassandra's and Isabelle's shoulders and if they allowed him, he'd yank them both down so they'd be concealed by some of the tall grass. Mateo might not be the sharpest knife in the box, but he just wants everyone safe. The loud steps continue to shake the ground.

The large booms continue on through the area followed by a piercing crack and splintering noise as what almost sounds like a tree falling through the forest before an even larger thud shakes the area around the area. After several moments of silence a loud feminine voice shouts out over from the distance "Agyo, Ungyo you better not have run off too far again" the red eyes vanishing and two sets of bounding steps through the rustling as something sounds like it bounds off to the source of the voice.

Off in the distance the tall form of Suzuka stands hidden by the thick brush and foliage of the forest, standing in a simple red vest and leaning upon the handle of an oversized axe with a fallen tree of monstrous size before them. Picking up the tool once more they begin hacking off branches from the main trunk of the tree while two giant hounds come back to the small clearing, standing up to her waist with long thick hair making it not hard to mistake them for bears in their build. Ruffling their hair as they come to her side the woman continues her work to prepare the log for moving back home, following up the cleaning with several thick ropes around the wood seemingly ready to drag the giant log somehow.

"Get your freaking hand off my shoulder." When Cassie felt Mat's touch, it did nothing to calm her. Instead his hand felt hot, an unwelcome presence. "There is a noise. There is one." She whispered under her breath, cautious to speak too loud. Like her voice would stir up whatever beast was lurking back there. "Did someone say something." Cassie spat out, inching her back towards Isabelle and Mateo.

Her fingers trembled when she reached for her weapon, the pistol hidden between her skin and her jeans. Both hands grasped it tightly as she held it in front of her, arms straight, elbows locked. The leaves rustled, and Cassie shuddered when she heard a not too distant tree collapsing. Oh no. Was the forest falling down around them? Like Chicken Little?

Cassie never cocked her gun. She didn't know she had to.. Didn't the bullets just.. go? She had a finger close to, not on, the trigger, but never pointed the gun towards anyone-- only to the scattered abyss of the trees. Finally she saw the dark shadow of a figure... A large figure, four legs, hair sticking in every direction. A grizzly bear. "I can exorcise a demon but I can't exorcise a bear. Maybe he will do a pushup if we scream hard enough." Oh god. Cassie squeezed the gun until her arms felt weak, but she couldn't pull the trigger. Until she did, and a beam of light shot out. Not a bullet.

The tall grass provided cover, but Isabelle knew how exposed they truly were. If whatever was after them was an animal, then chances were they would be caught simply by their scent. As the thuds became louder with the creature's proximity, Isabelle gripped her pry bar tighter and prepared to attack if necessary. The trees provided the perfect vantage point to jump down on any enemies, or simply escape if need be. She wasn't exactly planning on risking her life for her lab partners. When Cassie began spewing nonsense, she quickly took action and placed her free hand over her mouth hopefully before the animal could hear. Not that it mattered, when the girl shot an actual beam of light from her seemingly normal gun.

"What the fuck?!" she exclaimed, taking back her hand and rising from their hiding spot. She couldn't tell if the beam had actually touched bear-like monster, but it had at the very least stunned it. Long enough for Isabelle to climb a nearby tree in what seemed like less than a second. Fully intending on leaving the group behind, Isabelle paused to watch the situation for a moment. The beast wasn't alone, that alone was certain. And apart from Cassie's "light gun", the other members of the group seemed as human as they come. They probably wouldn't be able to fight off the creature, and wouldn't it look suspicious if she was the only member of the group to survive?

Thus, she waited. Half-hanging from the tree, for the perfect moment to attack. Jumping on one of the monsters and attacking it's neck wouldn't be too hard, right?

The best thing that he can do at that time was to just watch and observe. Sure deep down he wants to strike a pose where he could be seen as the hero or brave the ungodly forest. But with such real threats, it's simply not worth it. "What the fuck?" Indeed, there seems to be no other reaction that can describe what just happened. Guns shoot lead not light, to have that happen is quite a strange phenomenon. Being the source of light other than the moon, its light was quite the contrast with the dark background. Mateo however, is not blinded by it, for he was once a god of light and his eyes are used to the powerful radiation of the sun, watching it from less than 10 feet is something normal to him.

Cassie's light seems to be right in the middle of being harmful and harmless. That seems to be the best plan of attack for now. Though, how would he do it? He's not exactly in his full.. splendor, nor would it seem like an ideal place for him to display his godliness. Isabelle, for some reason, is nowhere to be seen and Cass seems to be too startled by the light she made, Mateo chose to sneaked away. He lowered his head and inches further from Cassie up until he's behind a tree and some bushes. The vantage point wasn't perfect, but at least it'll allow him to do whatever he wants. Priming his bow with his only arrow, he began to crouch down and took aim. He shuts his left eye and squinted with his right. With a gentle blow of his breath, Mateo lets his arrow free. Despite the $5 bow, it flies true almost as if it's enchanted by magic, though strangely the tail of the arrow seems to combust in flames mid way. It flies not towards the beast, but to the ground in front of them. When it lands it shall unleash a shockwave enough to knock people off their feet and ignite the ground on fire creating a wall of fire that should startle and inflict fear in the beast.

He figured it'd be the best thing to do for now, Mateo doesn't want to kill or harm the beast, if this creature can be startled enough until it ran away then perhaps they could get out of this without blood on their hands.

The gun surprised Cassie, even, but it only provided enough light a small patch of the thick fur on the animal and the dark eyes. Cassie waved the gun back and forth in an attempt to see more, until the beam flickered, dimming until it went completely out. it She had meant to put a bullet through that thing. Obviously that's not what life had in plan for her.

Cassie peered over her shoulders to see the others, except they had left her. "Damn it, I'm alone," she mumbled. The freaking bear would definitely take Cassie's shot of light as a threat-- And Cassie didn't know if she could outrun a bear. Possible, but unlikely, due to Cassie's nature of spending too much time in her bed reading and taking seconds of desert every night.

"Oh!" Cassie screeched when the ground shook. She couldn't contain her noise, and neither could the forest. Leaves rustled, small animals awoke from naps, and the resulting flames emitted a loud crackling sound. Cassie lost her footing, stumbling backwards and landing on her butt. She could already feel the soggy ground making a wet stain on the back of her loose-fitted Levi's. She'd kicked up a bit of mud with her Converse, too. But now she could make out the beast better, and Cassie gasped as she blinked away smoke. "Guys. I don't think bears prance like that. Also, it didn't climb up a tree." Cassie repeated herself like she'd made a revelation. In reality she made no sense. "It didn't climb up a tree!"

Suzukas head turns as a flash of light comes out from the underbrush on the edge of the clearing followed by a small yelp as one of the dog's jumps, startled from a sudden sting on its back before the rest of the scene explodes in a confusing series of actions. A girl leaped out from the trees towards Agyos neck as he had been looking towards the source of the shot downwind, only to have Ungyo raises his head and nip at the collar of the new attacker, aiming to yank them back and toss them to the side from the garment just as a flaming arrow came landing into the area as well.

Dropping the ropes Suzuka turns around and approaches, with at least two people suddenly trying to ambush her and her animals in the open clearing the day had indeed taken a strange turn from what she had expected. "Ok the hell is going on? If this is those shits starting with fireworks again...." stopping as she takes stock of the scene, one of her dogs growling at the bushes and the other at a random girl that appeared to have just been tossed. Going to stomp out the small flame of the arrow she takes a big breath before looking up somewhat annoyed.

"Ok, let's make this simple...who are you and why are you here? 10 words or less" raising the axe one-handed and pointing it towards the girl that had been thrown.

Isabelle's attempt's on one of the bear's necks quickly fell short when the other bear yanked her back to the ground just as she'd landed on her target's back. She was back up in less than a second, of course, and charged towards the large animal once more, until the girl who seemed to be their owner spoke up. She seemed human, apart from her remarkable size, so Isabelle figured that perhaps she could hypnotize her and make her leave. They didn't have much of a choice, anyways. Mateo only had one of those arrows (exploding arrows, at that. He'd somehow "forgotten" to mention that when he'd showed his weapon of choice), and she didn't know what the hell had happened to Cassie's gun to make it shoot light in the first place but she doubted she'd be able to do it again - with her blabbering to herself on the floor, seemingly out of her mind. Them with no weapons against two large, ravenous bears and an axe-wielding woman? She didn't like those chances.

"Okay, okay. Fine. We're from North West High. We came here to work on a project. That's all." Isabelle slowly approached the girl, still mindful of the beasts accompanying her, as she spoke in the calmest tone she could muster. Using her powers on her would be easier if her guard was down, or at least trusted them a bit. So what was the issue in telling her the truth? "We didn't know anyone lived in the woods. So how about we just make peace and pretend none of this ever happened?"
