friends who slay together stay together
Celestine watched as Eliza and Teddie went back and forth, nodding along- she didn't have much to say, but she didn't want to seem disinterested in the conversation. She had to admit, this wasn't how she imagined today going, but it was sweet of them to do this for her.

"I know I did not express much excitement, but I do appreciate this- It is very thoughtful..." Celeste trailed off with a small smile, watching politely as Teddie kicked the unconscious man away from Carlisle, "Oh, no I have not gone vegetarian. I do not plan to any time soon, either, so you need not worry."

Celestine went quiet as they continued their discussion, deciding on the barbeque plans. Her attention was quickly stolen by Carlisle, who was reaching out to touch the battered man, "Careful, sweetheart," She crouched beside the child, making sure her tiny hands did not make contact with him, "You should not touch him, you might get blood on you." Celeste's tone remained gentle, not wanting to sound like she was scolding her.

As she awaited a decision from her friends, Celeste took this moment to really look at the man on the floor. He wasn't anyone she recognized and one quick look at her book told her that she hadn't met him previously and forgotten. This was a man who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

How unfortunate for him...

For a brief moment, Celestine's expression morphed into something far more angry, but it vanished in the blink of an eye. Perhaps she would play along just this once. Normally she wouldn't, but her judgment was clouded by grief, and for today she decided she was okay with that.

"Yep, today's only my fifth day," X said rather cheerfully (for him anyway) while he rubbed his head sheepishly before his face immediately reverted to it's default blankness. X then reached into his inside jacket pocket to pull out a small notebook that looked like it belonged to a child. It was pink and had several stickers of well known comic book characters from the past. X flipped through a few pages before finding a page almost as blank as his expression. X glanced up toward Yarn Ball and then back at his notebook, repeating the process a few times before scribbling a few words on his strange notepad before smoothly slipping it back into his inside jacket pocket. Don't be deceived, these were not meticulous notes on his fellow Tiger, but rather a collection of literal scribbles. What was that they called it...abstract art? "Another masterpiece," X thought to himself while looking into the sky, the clouds always made him envious...

Screenshot 2024-01-04 at 8.07.18 PM.png

Focusing at the task at hand, X was sure this wouldn't be conventional to say the least. Given the strange nature of the assignment, the ordeal would most likely be as eluding as the idea of the Tigers letting someone go years without paying up. There was always a possibility the person responsible for collecting the debt screwed up, but it seemed unlikely. From the outside looking in it would be easy to see the boisterous laughter, the women, the gang members who flaunted their status but not their deeds. It would be easy to see the freedom of circumventing the law, a rebel, someone seemingly free from the strings of the world. The Albino Tigers practically are advertisement of promising a good time; however, they were never one to run from a profit or let a debt go unpaid no matter how carefree they seemed. Even if it meant making a deal with a-,

X cracked his neck to end his train of thought. No use thinking about it now. At the very least his partner seemed more talkative when it came to the matter at hand, so it would benefit to explore the subject a little further while they closed in on the target. Years of backed up debt huh.... "Either a good time, or a life of constant paranoia...could be a good time too if you're a masochist," X said aloud expounding upon the idea. "Hey Yarn Yarn, you a masochist?"

Yarne was NOT prepared for such a question and did a sharp inhale of his cigarette in shock causing the smoke to enter his body awkwardly. He coughed and hacked hard trying to clear his lungs “W-what sort of question is that?!” He said in a raspy tone, his cool and calm demeanor completely gone in this moment.

He had suspected this person was a bit out there given the way he carried himself but nothing could prepare him for the randomness thought processes X possessed. Yarne stopped walking for a second to try and gain back some of his composure. He stood up straight, smoothed out his jacket, and took a deep breath before sending a glare of death toward’s the white haired man. “No X….I am not.” He spoke with a slight edge in his voice clearly annoyed by such an inquiry. “I’d rather we didn’t talk of…….private matters such as that out in the open as well.” Yarne let out a huff of air, lightly blowing some hair out of his face. He then realized his hair was now slightly off and took the time to run his hand through his mohawk to smooth it back once more.

“Anyways….as for the target I assume they went out of the Tiger’s reach for a time. Maybe they fled the country and recently returned?” Yarne knew of course that the organization had incredible pull and an immense amount of resources. Finding someone wouldn’t be particularly difficult but acquiring them would. Fleeing the country or earning the protection of another gang would definitely be beneficial in the short term. “Mm….unless this person was once important to the organization and now is considered….disposable~” The man lightly licked his lips, almost in a hungry fashion at the thought. He always enjoyed jobs where he had to make someone disappear for good. Yarne considered permanently erasing someone to be an important job and he oh so loved his work~

A deep surge of something rose from within her. This was it. This was what she had been missing. The lone pupil dilated, the world slowed, the cacophony of explosions of sharp retorts of firearms dulled in her ears. From beneath the dark visor of the helmet, a twisted smile, more genuine than any other that she had given in her time in New Oasis, curled into being.

There were two kinds of people in this world who had seen, lived, and breathed the putrid smoke of war. The ones who were shaken by their experiences, waking up to every loud sound, clutching at the iron underneath their pillows, their panicked eyes searching the dark for non-existent threats, cold sweat dripping from their brows, and the ones who missed that feeling of danger, the ones who couldn't function in proper society because they wanted that darkness, that hopelessness, that overwhelming pressure to survive. In a world of safety and civilian life, they broke down, purely because they were hunting for shadows that didn't exist. Faced with actual, real threat, they shone bright.

They wanted to die. She wanted to die. She wanted to feel the blade against her neck, and she wanted to survive it.

She let out a harsh cackle that was lost in the shouting and the gunfire. Her twin guns turned away from the collection of mercenaries, pointed upwards at the grenades as she broke into a sprint. One. The rain of grenades met her hail of bullets, sending several spinning out of their trajectory in the air.

Two.

That left the ones she didn't manage to catch.

Three.

She ducked and slid under one of the parked vehicles, rolling underneath its chassis, and braced herself for the impact, rolling to one side, her back facing towards the entrypoint.

Four.

The explosions rocked the asphalt, the grenades, both the ones still careening through the air, and the ones that landed upon the ground, exploding in a cascade of deafening roars. Shrapnel scattered through the area, and the soldiers of fortune that had the misfortune of standing under the grenades that were still up in the air or the ones that had landed closer to them were shredded into pieces.

Sharp, hot pain dug into her back. No matter. She can still work. She rolled out of her cover, discarding her now-empty guns. She reached into her jacket once more, drawing out a shotgun slung over her shoulder, tucked within the leather.

The door to a nearby APC threatened to open, and she responded with a kick, slamming it back shut, and planted the barrel on the window, and fired. The buckshot broke through the glass, and the next two cascades turned the backseat into a slurry of blood and meat.

She was alive. She turned towards the man. The target. More accurately, the man carrying the target. Her client didn't say he needed to be alive.

She withdrew a handgun from her holsters, and pointed it directly at him. She motioned with the barrel, indicating the case in his hand, and then the floor.

A long drag of his cigarette. The handcuff that kept the suitcase in his hands tied to his wrist felt a bit heavier.

“Not enough to drop it,” he clarified under his tobacco-scented breath, smoke blowing out from his nose. He tossed the cigarette over his shoulder, letting it land on the ground.

The gunfire had stilled, and the nearby mercenaries who hadn’t yet found themselves blown to pieces or shot clean through held their fingers on the trigger, crouched and behind cover.

Could they shoot faster? That uncertain question kept their grips from tightening; sweat began to chill on backs and necks, the heat of adrenaline replaced by the freeze of cortisol. Breaths hitched and swallowed saliva had a tinge of bitterness.

Fire continued to crackle, tipped over cars still had their wheels spinning, broken windshields reflected the sun.

The only person in this situation who was in the wrong enough to stay relaxed was the one orchestrating this whole thing. Even with a gun pointed at him, that look on his face didn’t change. He looked upon the masked rider with indifference.

“Always a pain in my ass, y’know that, right? Doubt it.” He remarked, raising his hands up in the air in surrender, the case hanging from his wrist as he nonchalantly rested his head on his shoulder, “Though this is the first time we had the pleasure of meeting face-to-face, you got a knack for fuckin’ my shit up,” he seemed more intent on complaining and going down his one-way memory lane than actually handing over the case. Patience was thin, and cold hands could hand off the case just the same. Trigger fingers itched like they had come down with smallpox.

“Good thing I saw this comin’,” the employer remarked, undoing his fake surrender to place a hand on the top of his fedora, a smirk coming across his face as it became shaded underneath the brim of his hat.

“That’s why I brought some insurance.”

The cigarette that had been discarded earlier breathed the faintest of sparks, smoke floating through the breeze. It was stomped out by a combat boot, smushed underneath its heel. The boot’s soles scraped against the ground as they braced upon the pavement, the guts of the cigarette being torn from the friction as the rubber scratched against the stone.

The gears had already begun to turn on their axles. The crankshafts molded of flesh and bone spun in conjunction.

Pump. Pump. Pump.

Valves and pumps, blue and red, arteries and veins, they sent blood through the intake and blew it out of the exhaust, pistons motioned up and down, building up pressure.

Pump. Pump. Pump.

The heart beat, it throbbed. Its outer walls bulged and contracted. Its fleshy pipes intake and outtake, feeding it energy and coursing it through the system. Fleshy cogs swirled and spun, building up tensions.

The gaskets strained underneath the pressure.

The engine revved.

Pump. Pump. Pump.

The engine roared.

Across the ground in a blur of black, accelerating faster than any man-made vehicle ever could, he crossed the gap between himself and his target within the bat of an eye. Even weighted down by pounds of equipment, his gloved hand had reached the handgun barrel, twisting to point its barrel to the side before a shot was fired.

Sunglasses reflected the sun, hiding his eyes. Steam flowed from underneath his bandana like a cloud, moistening the air before fading into the atmosphere. The surroundings smelt of burnt rubber from his boots, steam still coming from his soles as he stood there with Dagger’s gun tight in his hands, gripping it hard enough that it began to quiver from his twitching muscles.

“Oi. Fuckhead,” the mysterious new mec spoke, leaning in closer as his brows furrowed, a vein of anger forming in his forehead.

“You’re gettin’ in the way of me bein’ able to get some Chinese takeout tonight, damnit!”

His outrageous outburst was punctuated by a sharp kick upward, speed lines hugging close to his wrinkled camo.

“HIIYAAAAAHHH!”

And a poor kung-fu movie imitation.

His foot connected with the handgun’s magazine, knocking out both their grips and sending it flying through the air.

With both of his feet planted on the ground, he raised his hands in preparation, holding them close to his face like a common street thug; he held this position for a moment before his posture suddenly faltered.

“Wait, damn. I should be using my cool mercenary gear!” He exclaimed, looking down at himself, beginning to fiddle with the stuff in his belt during this supposedly tense moment, flipping pouches open and digging through them like a kid would go through a bucket of Halloween candy.

“There’s gotta be a cool laser in here or somethin’...just give me a sec...”

It was evidently clear immediately that this guy was one thing:

An idiot.

A good fight to catch up? Dyne rolled her full eyes in an exaggeration that kept her amused smile. "Spoken like a true Serpent. It's a wonder you ever left, really. You remind me of the late King."

Not all Serpents were battle maniacs, but their representatives certainly held a reputation. Yuudai was eager to start a fight even at the most peaceful of time, or even in the middle of a date. If not for his excessive aggression, she would have built her nest in the unrestrained North. More volatile, yes, but a reasonable price for freedom.

Now, she had tied her boat to the Dragon. Purchasing and renovating the bar cost a pretty dollar; it would be a shame to abandon it. So, Dyne locked the gilded chains of stability.

"Several of those gas bombs Deacon favors would do nicely, really. I heard that some corroding weapons are being used, but I don't know if you have access to them."

Lab Hercules was New Oasis' largest research and manufacture center for chemical weapons, though it had only started to sell its HP-effective products recently, at a limited scale at that. Production cost and manufacturing time were still too high for mass production, which was why only the King had been going around with them.

MESSY DELIGHT
Never in his time as a Phoenix did Gideon think that he would sponsor someone. He had heard about Hector sponsoring plenty of people, Helva seemed to do it also. But sometimes Gideon would forget that he wasn't a rookie anymore-- he had been here for over three years. It was normal for him to sponsor someone.

But that fact didn't stop Gideon from feeling anxious. This wasn't like practicing a villain speech in the mirror dozens of times and then presenting it to a hostile crowd. No, this time Gideon had to call upon all his knowledge from the past three years: How to survive, how to contribute to the family even if it wasn't in the form of killing, and how to adhere to the guidelines of a Scarlet Phoenix. Then he had to pass them down. So his anxiety didn't stem from that sinking pit in his stomach when Gideon flubbed his lines and knew that it was because he didn't practice enough, as it usually did. This time it was because Gideon knew that he had to be a good mentor.

Today was Gideon's day off at Clark's Cafe, but that didn't stop him from coming. He put a handful of Keemun leaves into a teapot to allow it to steep. The aspiring villain had invited his sponsoree, a soft and innocent man named Rutger, over for a drink as well as to chaperone him as he carried out a mission handed to him by the gang. Rutger, in Gideon's opinion, was what he wanted out of a Phoenix. Powerful, confident, and capable, but not brutal. He didn't seem like the type to kill viciously.

Gideon strained the tea leaves out of the teapot before adding in some drops of fresh oil of bergamot. There was a small cot-like corner in the back of the coffee shop where Rutger and Gideon liked to meet, and Gideon brought the tea out to the stitch ladened Phoenix, "A cup of fresh Earl Grey tea. Enjoy yourself."

Clark's Cafe might've been known for its coffee, but that didn't mean that they weren't good at making tea. Turns out, the secret to making a good cup of tea was simply to use good ingredients, which was easy. Gideon for his part, sat down across from Rutger to nurse a cup of coffee. Tea had never been really his... well, it never really was his cup of tea.

"So. You got an elimination job," Gideon said, rather a matter of factly. He didn't want to be as cold towards Rutger as he was to most of his colleagues, but he also didn't want to break character and seem warm. "Are you feeling ready?"

How ironic, for Gideon to ask if Rutger was ready when in fact he was the one who was not ready.

Rutger couldn't help but tap on the table, a sign of his restlessness. His painted nails made a loud tap ever so often as he awaited his tea. Usually he didn't enjoy being present in a more public setting, unless he was surrounded by the symphony of music nature provided. Today wasn't just an average day though; he was spending time with Gideon, his sponsor. A small smile creased his face as the thought of showing Gideon his work excited him. What a splendid day it was going to be.

His red gaze watched the veteran approach, eyeing the cup of tea that was laid in front of him. While Rutger knew many of aspects of Gideon's life, this was one he was still unfamiliar with. Why would someone who was a killer be working here? None of it made sense to him but he wasn't one to judge. Maybe it was cathartic to Gideon, not everything was about money, something he learned recently. The rookie picked up his cup of tea, pressing his lips up to the cup to take a sip. The tea was pleasant, certainly beating what he could conjure at his own home. He parted his lips from the cup, leaving lipstick on the rim. Lipstick was always stylish, but it got everywhere unfortunately.

Rutger's head titled slightly as he listened to Gideon's brief words. Ready was an understatement, he had no doubt in his mind that there was only going to be one end result, one that resulted in a bloody blade. "I suppose so, the target is a low-life drug dealer." He sat forward, twirling his hair with one hand as he focused his eyes on Gideon. "You don't have to do anything... I'll take care of it." His voice was soft but there was no sense of wavering in his voice. He was prepared to do whatever it took to complete his task, no matter the cost.

A small smile appeared on his face once more, closing his eyes as he spoke. "Thank you for the tea. It's not often I get to enjoy a high quality cup of tea." Once he opened his eyes, he gave Gideon a playful wink. While Gideon was his superior, it was hard to take him seriously sometimes. For this occasion, he thought he'd spare him with his usual playfulness. It was a serious matter, though for Rutger it was just a part of his daily life.

He knew that Gideon wasn't used to this side of him, so he couldn't help himself. He had to tease him at least once. "How cute do you think I look? I'm a heart throb aren't I?" Rutger knew what way Gideon swung, no direction at all. Making him laugh could lighten the burden. While he was calm himself, he was unsure how Gideon was feeling. Killing wasn't for everyone and he certainly didn't look like a seasoned one.

Spring was here, the trees ladened with pink flowers that scattered with the wind and covered the soft green grass. Birds chirped, and the rabbits crawled out of their holes to forage for new food. The flower bushes were in bloom, a symphony of red, violet, yellow, and white flowers smelling like sweet nectar. The air was devoid of the chilly winter draft, a perfect weather to be outside.

Kagiso sneezed three times in rapid succession. He didn't understand any of the nature crap. If not for Rutger, Kagiso probably would have even been here in the first place. The white-haired assassin popped a pill into his mouth and downed it with some unicorn frappuccino-- it was allergy medicine, not the usual drugs that Kagiso took. He had one earbud in, which was blasting Passeri Park music, whilst the other one was open so that he could listen to Rutger's voice.

"A joint mission," Kagiso noted excitedly to Rutger "It's been a long time since we've done something like that! The last time we worked together must've been before the Phoenixes."

Kagiso had brought a sandwich to the park. Going there had felt like a picnic, and so Kagiso had prepared for one. He took a bite out of it and spat out a bird feather. Earlier, a canary had tried to eat Kagiso's sandwich, so Kagiso tried to eat the canary. Unfortunately, canary didn't taste too good in his sandwich unless it was cooked and defeathered, and Kagiso didn't want to do that.

"So let me get this straight-- we have to kill a Tiger businessman who is surrounded by security all the time?" Kagiso asked, "No wonder they wanted both of us to work together at this. We better get paid well, since we gotta fight our way out. But who knows, maybe it'll be fun. I'd get to do a One, Two, Bam! on them."

Kagiso mimed a three-punch attack, accidentally vaporizing a shrub with the resulting shockwave.

"Haaah, who am I kidding? Fighting is so tiring," Kagiso glomped onto Rutger's back, wrapping his arms around the man's slim shoulders, "Maybe I could sneak in with some makeup like you and sneak out."

As if it were a completely normal thing to do, Kagiso leaned forward to peck Rutger on the lips. A boost of serotonin surged through Kagiso from the soft contact of flesh on flesh. When Kagiso pulled away, his lip was stained with a little bit of lipstick, and he grinned goofily, "Does it look good on me?"

"Drug dealers..." Gideon tapped his mug in thought. Probably someone involved with the Serpents then. The only Serpent that Gideon liked was his roommate. "Good. You can prove to me that I didn't make a mistake when inviting you."

That was hardly half the reason why Gideon was content with allowing Rutger to claim the kill. He knew that Rutger wouldn't make it as messy as others would. But beyond that, Gideon wasn't ready for today to be the day he got his first kill. But he wasn't going to say that. No, in front of his sponsee, he had to look like a proper bad guy.

"The tea is nothing. That's the sort of thing that family does for one another," Gideon said. He lifted his mug and took a sip of the coffee. Bright notes of citrusy lemon, cherry, and rose greeted him with that mouthful. Yes, Gideon was enough of a posh coffee drinker to appreciate it like that.

Rutger's teasing attempts barely elicited anything from Gideon. The humorous side of Gideon was dead-- or so Gideon hoped. His smiles were sparse and rare to dole out. But that didn't mean that Gideon wasn't unsure of how to answer Rutger. In a paradoxical mix of dryness and flusteredness, Gideon said, "I uhh... yeah. You're an absolute heartstopper. I think. I'm sure plenty of the guys would be swayed by you, if you swung that way. Which you don't, so I mean..."

Gideon cleared his throat, desperately trying to change the topic and unsuccessfully avoiding his face from taking on a slight pink dusting.

"Do you want something to eat before we head out?" Gideon asked, "I'm sure that I could get you a slice of cake if you wanted. We have carrot cake, a lemon cake, and a double fudge."

Without any experience in killing, Gideon wasn't quite sure how people prepared for a hit job. It seemed that a good lunch would be logical, but Gideon also didn't want to make that assumption since he avoided eating before a fight.

Spring was Rutger's favorite time of year. The vibrant colors that surrounded him were a sight to see, an ocean of rainbows reflected off of his red eyes. He loved the smell this time of year brought; it helped get rid of the bad stench that the city brought. He was happy to be sitting in one of his favorite spots, though he couldn't say the same for his compatriot. He seemed more out of place than a clown at a strip club.

His gaze lingered on Kagiso as he watched his friend eat. If would have been more surprising if he didn't see him with some sort of food in his hand. "There is a reason I don't work with you... you lumber around like a dumb oaf." His soft voice was almost cut off from the rustling of the vaporized shrub. A slight frown formed on his face as he looked at the state of the shrub. "You didn't have to kill the shrub..." Rutger thought he was stating the obvious. The plant never hurt him, why go and ruin it's day?

Rutger felt Kagiso's arm wrap around him and he was preparing for what was coming next. He felt Kagiso's lips upon his, though his face looked rather indifferent to what had just occurred. Once Kagiso pulled away, Rutger didn't bother to answer his question. He quickly moved his hand into action, back handing Kagiso across the face. Kagiso knew better than to do that, he just liked to push Rutger's buttons. "If I wanted a kiss, I would have asked for one. Unless you grow a pair of tits, you can keep your lips off me." Even though his words were soft they held some sternness behind them.

"You better watch yourself when we are on mission; if you try that again you won't even hear me coming." Rutger usually wasn't one to threaten someone, but Kagiso was somebody special. He was a blockhead that required different methods than the average person. If he wanted to tag along he had to calm down. How can you sit in this serene place and act like a buffoon? Kagiso never failed to surprise him, he would be worried if he acted normal.

A smile grew across Rutger's face, his eyes beaming with light. "The last thing I would want to do is disappoint. I don't let my prey frolic around easily... I'm not one to play around." He wasn't one to fiddle with his prey. He strikes quick... and violently, destroying his target. A wolf goes for the kill and that's what he intends to do. His cute demeanor was a cloak, like a wolf in sheep's clothing. It made getting into striking distance much easier.

Rutger took another sip of the tea, thankful for it even though they were technically family now. The sensation that drinking a cup of tea brought was one that was pleasurable and immensely soothing. It wasn't often he got to sit down and drink a cup of tea like this. A small smile remained on his face as he listened to Gideon's compliments. "You're so kind Gideon. My looks are merely for attracting my prey, though I won't turn down any woman who wants to make a move on me." His finger's glided against his own defined chin, proudly showing off his porcelain skin. He didn't mind the attention, though he was known to be cold when it was the wrong attention.

He hid his excitement at the mention of double fudge cake, taking a sip of tea before speaking up. "A slice of double fudge cake couldn't hurt. Indulging in sweets always puts me in the right mindset." He had a soft spot for cake, especially since he didn't eat it often because he wanted to watch his shape. The cake would also keep Rutger's more violent tendencies at bay. He often got too eager before a job, especially if he wanted to butcher his prey.

Something was nagging Rutger and it wasn't necessarily bad, he just couldn't help his curiosity. "I know this is the first time you'll see me on the hunt.. but what was your first time? I'm sure you're much more seasoned than me." He lightly gestured a stabbing motion to get his point across. The Phoenixe's were filled with killers and he wanted to see how much Gideon was one. Surely he killed quite a few people on his quest for world domination.

Kagiso expected the slap, but he still let out a small whimper and recoiled when he was smacked. But it was totally worth it. Kagiso rubbed his cheek as he said, "What's wrong with a small kiss? Nobody can see us anyway. And I would never kiss you while we're out on a mission. You always cover yourself in blood. What if I accidentally got the person's blood in me and got whatever nasty disease they had?"

"Unless... do you mean to say that it's okay to kiss you as long as you're not on a mission?" Kagiso asked, coming to the wrong conclusion, "I dunno how good I'd look in a dress and boobs, but if you want me to be the crossdresser and you wanna be the husband... I guess I can do that?"

Kagiso uncoiled himself from Rutger, moving back onto the towel that they had sprawled out on the ground. Rather absentmindedly, Kagiso picked up an oval shaped rock from the ground and stuck it where the blown-away shrub used to be, upright so that it was like a tiny tombstone. Kagiso hadn't meant to destroy the shrub-- sometimes his own strength got the better of him.

"Also I'm not a dumb oaf!" Kagiso said, pouting, "Why would I need to bother being quiet while I'm around you when you've got your cool Potential? I can sneak up on people with a whchaow! without even needing to mind my step."

Kagiso laid back on the towel, sneezing again from the pollen. He really wasn't all that suited for the outdoors.

MESSY DELIGHT
"If I know any girl who's interested, I'll act as a wingman," Gideon said. The monotone way that he spoke might've made it seem like he didn't have any vested interest, but that was simply how he talked. But Gideon suspected that he wasn't going to be able to help that much.

Upon hearing Rutger's question and the rather ominous hand wavy motions, Gideon's neck heated up and a bead of sweat formed. Thankfully Gideon's face was already contorted into a grimace. Otherwise, the hint of concerned horror would've been too apparent. He didn't want to tell the guy who he sponsored that he never killed anyone. That wouldn't reflect good on him, since he was supposed to be mentoring Rutger. Phoenixes were meant to kill. But what could he say? Trying to buy himself some time, Gideon said, "Uhhh... I'll tell you all about it after I get you your cake. I might otherwise forget."

Before Rutger could object, Gideon got up and looped around the back corner towards the display case of the coffee shop. He carefully opened it and put a slice of double fudge on a plate as well as a slice of carrot cake on another plate for Gideon himself. He took his sweet time doing so, wracking his mind for something to say. Gideon couldn't very much make up a story, could he? He could twist the truth maybe? No, what sort of truth was there to twist?

When he made his way back to the table, Gideon served Rutger his cake before taking a seat. The pacifist villain took a bite of his cake before he started on his story.

"My first kill was pretty uninteresting, to be honest," Gideon said, "Guy owed the family some money and wasn't able to pay up, so I was told to 'ice' him. I filled a bucket with some cement and stuck his foot in there, then shoved him into a lake. I didn't get to see what happened, because I ended up passing out. Because it was my first time."

Miraculously, Gideon found that he only stumbled over his words twice as he spitballed the most stereotypical story ever. The only realistic part of the story had to be that he would pass out after his first kill. Unfortunately, Gideon felt himself getting nervous and sweating, as if he were presenting a villain speech to the masses that he spent the entire night rehearsing in the mirror.

He was already starting to feel guilty for lying so blatantly to Rutger. Gideon told himself that it was all so that he could mentor Rutger properly, but that hardly helped. To avoid making eye contact with Rutger, Gideon took his fork and ate a bit of his carrot cake, "Mm. This is very good."

It was mediocre.

"You know I've never been one for unsolicited kisses. I would still kiss someone, even while I'm drenched in blood. I just won't kiss you." Rutger knew that Kagiso was just trying to get some sort of reaction from him and other than the slap, he wouldn't get another one. He'd slap Kagiso if he got out of line again, he seemed to only listen to physical responses. He didn't mind putting him in his place, it's not the first time he had to do it to a man.

A small smile creased his face when he brought up cross dressing. "That won't be necessary, I prefer the real thing." Kagiso in a dress would be a sight to see. Rutger wasn't sure he could pull it off, his face wasn't cute enough. His red gaze watched over Kagiso as he placed a rock over the decimated shrub. It didn't fix the problem but at least you could see a monument to his destruction. Luckily, the oaf didn't harm any of the flowers or Rutger would have given him a bit more than a slap.

Rutger laid down on the towel, sprawling out his arms. "You shouldn't rely on others to get by. Relying on family is fine but if you find yourself alone with no support... you'd better be ready." While he didn't mind asking for favors, he still considered himself a lone wolf when he was doing much of his work. A wolf thrived within it's pack but had to learn to survive alone if need be. He learned the hard way that he had to rely on himself, but he has recently been letting his guard down more while in the gang.

Upon looking at the sky, Rutger realized if there was ever a good day to kill someone, today was it. Despite Kagiso's attempts, the weather has put him in a good mood. He hated the dreariness of winter, he enjoyed the warmth of the sun on his skin. He had to be careful though, his porcelain skin easily burnt. "I don't need you getting in my way, just follow my lead. The last thing we need to do is mess this job up." Rutger's gaze was temporarily on Kagiso before shifting back to the sky. He wasn't all that worried about the job, he just hated disappointing people.

What's the Tea
It was a rather nice summer day. Nice weather where it wasn't too hot and she was able to evade some watchful eyes somehow. Who would've thought that she'd get away with it simply by dressing herself in an old outfit she used in Libere. A rather noticeable contrast to her Xia traditional wear. Since she wanted to get more familiar with the city, she decided to visit other parts of it. The best she could think of exploring is the area on the other side of the city from where she lived; the West District. Of course, she did have to pass through the central district since it was the fastest way to get to the West. Even then, she had no problems.

Touring around the West was quite unique. Unlike the East where it lots of high-class brothels, the West seems to be the money maker. She could see casinos, corporate HQs and best of all; the fashion boutiques. Oh joy, she can already feel her wallet start to wander. But she mustn't get too carried away.

...Okay, maybe she splurged just a bit, paying visits to Libere boutiques and even some of the Jiseong boutiques. She did find a boutique from Xia but didn't make much purchases there. She had a lot of clothes from there already. While shopping was fun, it was time to take a break. With the purchases she made tucked away in her car, she stopped at a cafe called the Moonflower. It sounded similar to a familiar cafe she would consider her usual haunt back in her hometown.

There seemed to be a wide selection on their menu as well. From traditional teas to milk teas and even bubble tea. That wasn't all, besides beverages they also provided snacks as well. Takoyaki, shrimp tempura, gyoza and even offering some noodle bowls as well. Ah, this was the place to get a quick bite for lunch. Too bad she already had eaten, she would've loved to try the noodle bowls they have here.

Whatever, she can still enjoy a bubble tea and some snacks. Probably going for takoyaki. She didn't want to dirty her hands with holding the shrimp tempura. Though she still took a moment to decide what drink they have in their menu that she would fancy trying. Since this place was on the other side of the city, she knew she wasn't going to be able to visit much. Especially since her first official mission is next month, she would expect to be quite busy during that time. She has to pick the right drink to savor the flavor of this unique cafe.

WE WHO REMAIN
Boltius didn’t know what cold felt like, but when Milo’s hand met his shoulder, he flinched as if it’d been so.

1.jpg
In another room, Jericho and Bandy as Bandy attempted to drink away the residing pain from his treated wounds. “Man, I know you're in pain, but should ya really be drinking that fast?”

“Yes, Fern,” Bandy responded promptly, running a hand up and down the side of his face.

“I don't want you to make yourself sick on top of all this,” said Jericho.

Bandy shook his head, eyes closed against the uncomfortable light. “Ain’t gon’ makes myself sick.” Then he felt pressure on the bed beside him, and his eyes squinted open just enough to see. There, Jericho leaned forward with his elbows. “Aside from the pain, you feelin' okay?”

Bandy side-eyed him for a quiet moment before a weary but nonetheless amused smirk crossed his face. “Sure. I feels fine… What of Twinkle-Toes?” He spoke of Callista, recalling how the three of them had discovered some interesting articles within the office of a certain police captain during the raid. “The two a yous took them pictures, din’cha? Of them files? An’ that notebook?” He rubbed his bare stomach and yawned. “Let me haves a look at’em, yeah?” Not even a curiosity about who survived and who didn’t. Somewhere out there, his daughter was safe. As for gangsters, death was written on the contract in bold, hard to miss, red. No sense gettin’ choked up about it.

At least, that’s the idea he practiced.

We Who Remain.jpg
“Sorry,” said Bolt. He slowly took Milo’s hand with his own, the good one, and urged that Milo help him sit up without a word. It was only by the nature in which he grasped the other’s hand and tugged that one could guess. Then, when he was up, he told him, “Thanks,” grunting back the pain.

He found Gideon once more, took a moment to gauge his injuries, and asked him, “How’d we make it?” Elaborating, “The fall… I can’t remember…”

Gideon’s apology was still heavy on Bolt’s mind. If I hadn't been so hasty, maybe you wouldn't have those injuries.

What did that mean?

That’s when even further concerning thoughts arose to him and his voice seemed to adopt a panicked tone. “What about the others? Did everyone make it?” He knew the answer to that, but a part of him held most concern for a particular handful of members. You could call the wording something of a formality but that isn’t to say he didn’t care. “Ashley? Bandy? Jericho?” There was no way Delson would die from a fall, but Boltius wondered if Delson had even survived long enough to fall.

The moments leading up to the collapse played tag with his attempted recollection. When a detail felt close enough to seize, it eluded him at once and that tip-of-the-tongue feeling was gone.

Those that had danced and socialized were out cold or had been fast enough to to run out.

Well, not that it was his problem.

With a wave of his hand, Tri awakened everyone through a wash of light. He threw two hundreds at a groggy waiter.

Two Cats Chasing The Same Mouse Usually Ends In A Cat-astrophe
The air felt heavy, and not in a good way.

Instead of being filled with angry insults or a distinct metallic smell, the room was… sticky. Like milk that was left out in the sun for too long. Dancing people, greedy fingers screaming to be broken. Music that would make a dying lion more attractive roared in Asti's ears, leaving no room for their own thoughts.

Much as they wanted to rip the plug out of the nearest loudspeaker, there was nothing they could do but miserably drown the next shot of a dubious drink. Hah, if only they could get drunk. But even at its weakest, their regeneration made damn sure Asti wouldn't have that kind of distraction tonight.

Oh, how they hated pretending.

Who cared if they caused a bit of trouble in this Dragon's club? What stopped them from marching to the target right now and ripping her throat out like that coward deserved? Who was she to force them to change their appearance into something more appropriate for a seedy old nightclub?

Asti will rip out her eyes and force them down her throat, and that was a promise.

Groaning, they stood up. Their cup slammed onto the counter with more force than was necessary, leaving subtle cracks in both the glass and the wooden surface. The bartender eyed them with poorly concealed suspicion as Asti walked away, but her pay was obviously not good enough to chase after a moody customer.

Normally, Asti wouldn't care about the instructions or subtleties, but their inability to follow simple orders was beginning to be noticed. It got so bad that there was now a bet running for how catastrophic their next task would end. Pride made them join and now there was no way they were going to lose the bet. They'd rather go to church than wear that disgusting costume.

This gig had to be perfect.

The Serpent made their way through the crowd. Dodging dangling limbs and glittering shreds of clothing that could hardly be classified as such. Frankly, they were disgusting. Asti barely batted an eye when they walked through the North District, past all the addicts and barely concealed gore. But this? This was so much worse. It almost made them miss their white cell.

Well, almost.

A sudden grip on their arm stopped Asti in their tracks and made them turn around. It was a man. A fool.

His hand burned like raging charcoal against their skin. They looked at the offending limb. A second too long—imaginations were hard to keep at bay—before moving on to the rest of the man. Nothing worth remembering, but his clothes... What mangy cat had he skinned for this abomination?

"What?" Disinterest coloured their face.

The fool inspected them. Like some merchandise, or an animal perhaps. A sultry grin on his face as he closed the distance. He stank. "Care for a drink and some good company?" They both knew it was a demand, not a request. Asti waited, blinking several times. Nope, still not the illusion of a sudden drunken haze. Damn. "Back off." They wrenched his hand from their arm. The temptation to stab it was great. "Now," they added icily.

Deaf in both ears and blind to his instincts, the man continued. His words began to sound like gibberish as his gaze heated. Asti endured, ready to simply push him away and move on. But when they felt his hands slide down their back with determination, as if he had earned that right. Their patience broke.

Asti struck. Like a snake.

Their gloved hand grabbed his throat and pulled him down to eye level. Malleable flesh, so fragile. They could tear a hole in it with their teeth. Tempting, but not now. Still, Asti made sure to use enough force to leave a mark. "I said back the fuck up."

The cad reached for his neck. His nails clawed futilely at the white material of their glove as his mouth opened in shock, or indignation. It was hard to tell. "What the—" The Serpent increased the force behind their grip, cutting off all air from his windpipe. The man choked on his saliva.

This time they closed in, whispering into his ear, "Now I'm going to let you go and you're going to go back to your friends like the good ass-licker you are. Drink some more, alright?" He nodded, albeit belatedly, and Asti let go. "Good boy." They made sure to wipe their hands on his shoulders before pushing him off. Turning the other way, they walked away.

Disgusting.

Annoyed, they scanned the nearby tables and dance floor while biting their lips. A pleasant sensation. Their teeth drew blood, but it was hardly noticeable in the dim light and on their red lip gloss. No one in Asti's immediate vicinity seemed to have noticed their little stunt. Not a surprise, given the amount of face-sucking they could witness. Judging by the intensity, these people might as well start cannibalism.

They shook their heads. Not the point. The sooner Asti could find the mark, the sooner they could leave. Or get kicked out. A certain someone deserved a little castration and the loss of a limb before they should leave.

Asti looked to the side. A woman standing to the side caught their attention. Better built than a cement wall and dressed far too conservatively to blend in with her surroundings. The guard stood next to a door, reinforcing the idea of her guarding a special, but exclusive room. It screamed like the place Asti should try to get into.

The only question was how to get past the bouncer.

"Would threats work?" A barely concealed murmur. They trusted that people were to absorbed with themselves to even bother listening. "Money?" Better not their pockets were empty.

Sigh. How annoying.

Honesty, Open Heart
Two minutes before seven. It was a strange feeling to pay so much attention to time after months of letting it flow unrestrained between laughter and sighs. Dyne rechecked her hair for the fourth time in the last hour; nothing had changed. Her hair was lush, shiny, and framed perfectly the unbridled anxiety in her eyes.

"Oh, this is too stuffy,"
she mumbled.

Dyne removed her outer shirt and rested it on an empty stool; a gesture that raised no response from Faris who quietly manned the counter, but she knew he was judging her. She saw his eyes flickered for a second, his towel that wiped a glass dry paused. She pursed her lips and resisted the urge to ask once more if she looked alright. She knew she was.

Really, she just didn't know how she would explain herself. She heard of how the different gangs mixed like reactive chemicals, but she had not thought of herself as part of that reaction. She had never seen nor acted as a Dragon outside of her official responsibilities. Clearly she had underestimated the importance.

Boltius Beckman. Dyne rested her head on the clean counter and sighed. Must it be so difficult? She adored the young man, the time they spent together that caught her up to the time she could not be so free. He was a hot die that exploded with every roll and someone well-versed with the cards, the chips, and the game. What a terrible mistake it had been to sneak into the police headquarter.

Dyne rolled her sleeves halfway before she hesitated. Should she? Really, she had no idea how to carry herself. She had chosen the bar because it was her home turf, quite literally so, but also for its warm atmosphere. For Vacancy was a homely bar. It had low ceiling, warm light, and a sense of homely intimacy through its art deco furniture and a sense of seperation from the outside.

She hoped the meeting would be warm, like how she felt.

"...Oh, stop judging me so."

Behind the counter, Faris blinked innocently. The curl of his lips, however, told Dyne how much he was enjoying her distraught, one of her own making. Dyne huffed and pursed her lips.

Faris chuckled.

X watched dispassionately as Yarne fought for his right to clean air, ironic considering it was his choice to inhale literal smog. The paradox was nearly enough to make X crack a genuine smile; not really. Once he regained his composure X couldn't help but feel a hint of relief. Had fate decided he would die right there, the report would have had to fall on him...and it would be hard to explain how someone of his status died in such an absurd manner. X gave him a thumbs, congratulating him on surviving, but all he got was a glare, and surprisingly, an answer. There was a stretch of silence between them afterward. It was clear the man didn't want to delve deeper into the subject. X smiled beneath his mask, crinkling his eyes as he often did to feign genuine happiness before speaking. "Don't worry, your secret is safe with me my Albino brother," X said before dropping the subject still maintaining his composure despite the what he was insinuating.

Once Yarne was all fixed up they continued toward the target, rather casually. The subject of the next conversation was, yes you guessed it, about the mission. Let it never be said Yarne didn't take his job seriously. Even X had to admit, that despite his apparent vanity, his partner for the day seemed confident. He had never worked with the new vet, but once you're around people enough you begin pick up on certain vibes and auras. Not once during this walk did X feel as if he needed to be here. Even while he was desperately gasping for oxygen, Yarne was on guard. Even beneath the tint of his shades X could see the hunger. They looked like his; the only difference being that his saw much further. It should be no surprise to someone consumed by greed that they get devoured eventually. In the same token it should be no surprise that those who go hungry die alone in stagnation.

X sighed to exit out of his thoughts, catching a few of the words his partner was saying then piecing them together to make out what he was attempting to say. "...As I said before, it's probably the stupidity," X said with a rather drawn out yawn. He wasn't operating on much sleep, having had to handle some business the night before. If the man had escaped the country only to return, he either had a rather important reason to wager the many years of peace and freedom, had nothing to lose (which was either more dangerous), or he was incredibly stupid. To his other point, if the target was so useful the Tigers of all organizations ignored his debt he must have been a pretty powerful individual. The Tigers were fueled by money, but they weren't stupid. If either Scenario were true, they wouldn't be here. Even if they got the call by some stroke of bad luck, the instructions would not have been handled, or carried out in such a casual manner. Nothing quite added up to what they were given, and what they were doing. The best thing to do was follow the cliche'd statement, "Expect the unexpected, " X said out loud, finishing his thoughts. Sometimes, the situation at hand was nothing you could prepare for. In such cases, trying to hard to prepare for something out of your realm of expectation could actually be counterintuitive and slow down the speed in which you reacted to it. X had seen it many times. It was in view. X was slightly curious as they approached; who was this fortunate fool?

Allowing him to become intangible/invincible for a time before he has to cool down due to the glitch being corrected before he can do it again.

Rutger was delighted that Gideon would be a wingman. Being on the prowl alone was quite... boring. He always liked the idea of having backup when it came to trying to impress someone, though Gideon didn't really seem like an expert when it came to romance. He wasn't one either, so he couldn't judge him. Rutger scanned Gideon's face before his sponsor proceeded to get up and retrieve his cake. He was intrigued about what he was going to say, not because he didn't believe him but because Rutger couldn't remember his own first kill. He had killed so many people that the faces have blended together. He looked all of his prey in the eye, but he couldn't remember anything about them except he struck them down with his own hands. Maybe Gideon will have a cool story.

As the cake was placed in front of Rutger, he lightly clapped his hands in delight. Indulging on some sweets before butchering his prey always put him in a good mood. "Delightful... you know how to pamper me." He picked up a fork and extracted a large chunk of cake, stuffing the piece in his mouth. The cake was good, the chocolate wasn't overbearing. Rutger focused his attention on Gideon, putting another piece of cake in his mouth as he listened.

There was a few moments of silence after Gideon finished his story. Rutger licked a few smudges of chocolate off of his lips before responding. "That is quite old school... and mildly boring but I'm sure you've refined your methods through the many others you've killed." Maybe Gideon was trying to imitate a gangster movie. After thinking about it for a few more moments, drowning didn't seem all that fun. The method was more brutal than he initially thought but it would never replace the pleasure of using a knife. As Rutger spoke, he leaned in closer towards Gideon, lowering his tone. "You have to make your kills more personal. Get in close to your prey, let them put their guard down. Nothing is more satisfying than attacking your prey when their guard is down. The fear in their eyes is something that is hard to replicate." He made a quick stabbing motion, leaning back into his chair to continue eating his cake.

Once Rutger finished his cake, he set the fork down, satisfied with the free snack he was given. "Thank you for the cake. I'll make sure to pay you back." He used a napkin to clean the crumbs off of his face, dropping it onto his plate. He had something he wanted to show Gideon that pertained to his job. "I recently bought this and the job will be a perfect time to use it. I was always a fan of knives so when I saw it, I had to buy it." Rutger reached into his dress sleeve, retrieving a handle. After pressing on a lever on the side of the knife, a long blade flipped out from the handle. "I've never had a switchblade and they were always so cool. I will definitely use it tonight... can't let such a nice blade go unused." He pushed the blade back into the handle, putting it in his sleeve once more. "So... what's your preferred weapon of choice? I'm sure you don't pour cement all over the feet of your prey." He gave him a small smile as he asked the question. Gideon surely had quite a few tools in his possession. Rutger was dying to see what he used for his own jobs.

"Good to see you're still here, but keep on your toes. I didn't get a read on how many there were before things kicked off." The appearance of Knight's voice brought with it a sigh of relief. She was glad that she couldn't count him a coward. This was her first piece in play. So long as he was here, death was the only threshold that couldn't be crossed. No mess that couldn't be cleaned. No wound that couldn't be healed.

And not long after Knight joined her, her Bishop and Rook would, too. Light danced between rivulets of smoke as Elise and Moon made their descent. For such a stoic pair, when they were offered a stage they certainly had bombasticity to offer in spades. Why, if it weren't for the substitution of exhilarated cheers for panicked screams, it would've been easy to mistake it for one of her shows. A dramatic descent to signal the start of the next act.

If only. There was nothing so delightfully well-composed about this night.

"Not yet. Evac comes first, then we can go. You stick with Weiss and I. Moon, link up with Knight and start getting people out of here." Passeri's reply to Elise's bid for flight was terse and as much as she appreciated the woman's quick appearance, she did not spare her much more than a swift, grateful glance, either. Her focus remained on the threats swimming within the ballroom's shaded corners, as well as the ticking time bomb glowering with the protective folds of her Potential. While Passeri didn't fancy herself an expert in the myriad shades of sour that the Tiger King wore- nor did she ever want to- she could well enough recognize fury. He stood within the ballroom as a cannon with its fuse lit, as much of a threat to the guests as any of his praetorian turncoats.

"All that said... Weiss, what's the move here?" So she bit down on her tongue and reminded herself of her place. Her table, her gala, her night; Passeri reminded herself that whenever she was within his presence, none of that could ever be true. If she was within the palm of his hand, then everything she had was, too. The only thing she had now was her place, and right now that was between her King and whatever disaster he sought to wreak.

"I'll follow your lead." Snuff the fuse. Ease the storm. Calm the tides. She needed to do all of them before tomorrow's front page news was painted a cold, glacial white. "Just give the word."

What's the Tea

Living in the west, and dealing with the Tigers, Welsha had gotten use to a more fast paced life style, there was always some sort of work to do, and it had left Welsha with little time to rest. Still though being busy majority of the time didn't mean she wasn't able to relax a little, when it came to some of the work she had to do, she was atleast able to pick the environment she was working in. So she had opted to spend her spare time at a Cafe for today, one that she had been to a few times in the past, and one where she would be able to do some work in peace. She carried her laptop in a laptop case, as she entered the cafe, looking around, she noted how things weren't too busy in the cafe, and that there was a unoccupied table right in the corner of the cafe. It seemed just like the perfect spot to be at and do some work along with having a quick snack, Welsha didn't waste anytime before claimed the perfect spot for herself, by placing her laptop bag on the counter. She didn't think anyone would try to steal it since the place wasn't all that packed and it would be so easy to notice, but she did have counter measures in place just in case someone did opt for that option either way.

With her table now laid claimed to, Welsha was now ready to place her order, she had practically skipped over to the counter where the cashier laid in wait, Welshas default smile matched the Cashiers. Welsha didn't have to ponder long as she had practically already knew what she wanted to order "A Bagel, three strawberry Pasteris and a Salted Carmel Coffee, please!" the cashier gave a nod before saying "Sorry but you will have to wait a few moments for the strawberry Pasteris, are you fine with that?" Welsha gave a short nod, before pulling out the cash for the order and giving it to the Cashier "You can keep the change, if you will." something that resulted in a nod of approval from the Cashier before they gave their customary "Thank you come again." response. Not like Welsha was expecting anything else though, looking around she noted the different people that were here, some older looking and younger looking folks, some with classic and a few with strange outfits, it wasn't too difficult to tell apart the ones that have been in the west for a while compared to the ones that stook out. But it was fun to point out the differences inside of her head, almost in the same way one would find cross words entertaining, besides she figured it was a good way to waste time as she waited for her food, as she couldn't really find the harm in simply people watching.

What's the Tea
After pondering around with her options, she finally figured out what she'd like to order. So once it was her turn to relay her order to the cashier, she stated with a slight Libere accent opposed to her normal one. It seems to just come out naturally considering her appearance. "May I get a brown sugar milk tea with a creme brulee, please? Oh, and a side of takoyaki too." The cashier gave another nod as well before replying. "Of course. Um, you might have to wait a bit for the takoyaki." Yona shook her head and offered a smile. "That's alright then." She said before they discussed the total and Yona paid what was due for her meal. Of course, it took her a bit as she waited for her change. She supposed that the cafe was short staffed, but she was willing to wait anyway. Upon turning back to find herself somewhere to sit, she saw someone lingering next to a table with a laptop bag. It was a middle aged old man wearing a suit but their care for it was quite disheveled. They looked like they were going through some rough patches in their life. Almost like they got fired and took quite a fall financially. They seem to be eyeing it like a passerby to a luxury car they could never hope to own, as if the mischievous smile wasn't obviously giving away their ill intentions. "A thief...?" She thought to herself.

As the man picked up the bag rather hastily and decided to bolt to the door, she rushed over and intervened. She grabbed his wrist rather hard before taking the laptop bag from him. "Hey! What are you doing, you bitch?!" "I should be asking you that, salopard." She retorted. With how much volume they were both using, it was quite easy to attract attention to them. "This laptop belongs to my coworker and I do not recognize you as any of them." She then started using some of her potential to make the thief feel an unusual and obvious chill on his wrist. It didn't look like she was doing anything else in the eyes of the public, but if they were a potential user they could also feel that the air also had be quite chilly. As if someone indeed turned up the air conditioner. His face soon plastered with dread. "Let go of the bag, and I won't have to break your arm into pieces." She demanded. He let go of the bag, giving her possession of it and started to bolt to the door once she let go of him. While doing so, he found a small ice patch on the sleeve of his wrist and flung it off on his way out before making a mad dash down the street.

Yona soon placed the bag gently back on the table where it originally was before looking around. Most of the cafe's eyes were on her but they returned to their business after a brief moment. Even so, she could still feel like there was eyes on her. Maybe she was just paranoid because of the letter of invitation she received from the Dragons. There was no way they'd follow her out here. Nevertheless, she hung out near the table where the laptop was to safe guard it from anyone else who approached with ill intention while patiently waiting for her order to complete.
