Pardon the mess, this is my first time playing with bbcode and the like. Lately I've been in a rare mood where I'm actually interested in more than one rather specific roleplay. I don't know how long this mood will last but I've been trying to get a little bit more social so it doesn't hurt to throw some ideas around, right?
20s (closer to 30 than 20, to my occasional dismay). Any pronouns. Mental illness + autism spectrum. That's about all the personal info I feel comfortable divulging. I might open up more over the course of an RP but I can't make any guarantees. I consider myself a casual RPer. To me this means I don't strive for any particular post length, and just work with what my inspiration and the content of a scene gives me. In practice I tend to post anywhere between one to five paragraphs. I do enjoy detail but I find after a certain point I'm just forcing myself to write more for the sake of hitting a quota, but there are outliers if I'm feeling particularly verbose.
Guidelines
- Be at least 18. This is kind of arbitrary and I always have a hard time explaining why, but I just feel more comfortable playing with adults. I understand 18 isn't a 'magic age of maturity' so this miiight be negotiable but I don't know how well we'd click as partners. 16 and 17 maybe, 15 and below is probably a total no go. (Note that I will play in groups with folks younger than 18 I just feel more comfortable with this guideline when it comes to 1x1s.)
- Be chill. Yeah, this is something that's extremely subjective and very difficult to quantify but I don't want to feel any pressure here. At the same time I won't pressure you. I might pop in if I haven't heard from you in a while and inquire, but that's it.
- Post however much and however often you feel comfortable with. Try to aim for at least a paragraph if you can! I have a hard time responding to one-liners sustained over a long period but seeing them once in a while isn't an instant death sentence. Writers block happens and some scenes are more suited for short posts.
- Be willing to play any gender (or at least both male and female), multiple characters in an RP, as well as help contribute to the brainstorming, plotting, and worldbuilding.
- There are things I'd just rather not RP about. Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, incest, slavery, abusive relationships... none of these things are fun for me to write about in detail. If we do a setting or storyline where these elements would occur I'd rather minimize the time we spend on them.
- Third person perspective prose only. First person RP never clicked for me, and I'm not really interested in the old asterisk *walks into the room* or script style of RP anymore. I'm also not really in tune with the poetry style of RP that I see here and there.
- I prefer to do 1x1 RPs over PMs but threads are OK too, just not my first choice.
Other important stuff
- I dislike the term Mary Sue and find that it has some pretty gross connotations and plays into a lot of nasty double standards. So I'm not going to scrutinize any potential OCs on that front.
- I've never been much of a shipper, and this plays into my RP preferences too. Romance isn't a priority or something I'm really looking for, but if it develops or feels right I'll still play it out. However I will say if you absolutely require romance in your RPs I'm proooobably not going to be the best fit for you.
- I'm only interested in fandom-based play. Pretty much the entirety of my RP output throughout the years has had at least a small anchor in fandom. Fandom and RP have become pretty synonymous in my mind. I miiiiiight be willing to make an exception if you're interested in a plotline or setting heavily inspired by a given work of fiction. The chance is very low, though.
- I love AUs but I'm not a fan of modern domestic/slice-of-life AUs. Usually there has to be some sort of fantastical twist to the setting or story to hook me in as I've never been that much into school or workplace drama.
- If the fandom isn't listed here I'm probably not interested in doing an RP based on it. I find unless I'm super invested in a given roleplay that I'll very quickly have difficulty making posts, and my interests are often very focused. However you can always ask, like for example if you've seen me gush over some series or another in the other forums and think I might be into an RP based on it... the idea could intrigue me!
- Crossovers are great and aren't necessarily limited to the fandoms listed here so feel free to make suggestions.

Doctor Who
I'm still mostly just looking for someone to play the Twelfth Doctor. I'm not very Moffat-friendly and I have a big list of plot devices I want to avoid which makes me feel like a huge sour fun-hater but I'll share it if anyone's willing to take the plunge. I'd prefer something based on Twelve's season 9 characterization but I won't be picky about that. I'd rather play an OC here as my main character but canon characters are negotiable. Just be warned that if I play Clara I absolutely refuse to do anything romantic with her and Twelve. I'd also rather not play River but I won't outright say no to the possibility.
I do have a couple vague plot ideas for this that we could prod and poke around with, or we can brainstorm from the ground up. I also have an old idea from back when I was into Bioshock of a crossover RP starting during the waning years of Rapture (basically right before things started going to hell in a handbasket).
I also might be willing to play the new companion Bill based on what little information we have of her so far.
Also also, I could possibly play my own version of Twelve for anyone interested but he is definitely not fully canon compliant. I can explain how he differs in detail if anyone's curious.
Dragon Ball
A lifelong guilty pleasure of mine. I haven't seen Super or GT (yet, gonna start on GT soonish and then move on to Super). I can't really articulate why I love this series so much. For all its faults it just appeals to me on some level and probably will for a long time.
I'm interested in both 'original recipe' and 'Z' flavored Dragon Ball RPs. Either way it'd be a lot of fun to flesh out the universe! 'GT' style is also welcome though I don't know much about GT yet. I have seen all of the movies so movie settings + characters are also welcomed.
Any time period/power level is OK to me. I'm open to playing canon characters or OCs here, though since the franchise is so huge it's hard to really list everything I'd be interested in trying.
Final Fantasy X
So I started playing the PS3 remaster of this after years and I think I love this game even more than I used to. I'm still early on but my old playthrough from years ago got to almost the very end so I do know pretty much the whole plot.
I'm open to suggestions here as I don't have anything concrete in mind.
Future Boy Conan
Yeah, this is obscure as heck, but if anyone's familiar with it I'd looove to do an AU/series continuation plot with Monsley and an original female character of mine. Preferably it'd ignore her canon ending as I really didn't like how that turned out.
The basis of the idea is Monsley doesn't marry Dyce (I found this really out of character and felt like it came out of nowhere because I always saw her distaste for him as genuine rather than proto-tsundere teasing. Plus I headcanoned her as lesbian but that's sort of unrelated to everything else!) and goes off adventuring on her own instead.
This is one RP where I would probably be more interested in it becoming romantic. We'd probably have to come up with a lot of OCs and worldbuilding as I see it moving out of the established confines of the show and exploring other islands and dealing with a new threat.
Marvel Multiverse
I went through a huge Marvel phase over the summer and kind of ended up burning out on it. To be honest I'm still pretty burnt out but I might possibly still be interested in working something out, but it's a pretty big longshot (heh). My knowledge is a hodgepodge of 616, MCU, some of the Secret Wars stories, and a little bit of What If? and miscellaneous alternate continuities. My tastes do mostly run towards the lighter side of the multiverse so I'm not really interested in Daredevil, Jessica Jones, the Punisher, or any of the other dark and gritty stuff. My favorite team is the Fantastic Four, favorite solo hero is Doctor Strange (not looking forward to the movie though, they really messed up the casting IMO) and my favorite MCU property is a tie between Ant-Man and Agent Carter (season 1, at least. Haven't watched season 2 yet and I'm not in a hurry to do so because what I've heard of it sounds kind of underwhelming to me).
I'm still not super interested in this but the Civil War movie is kind of getting my Marvel hype to build up again. However, I won't actually see it for a week or so since I hate crowded theaters so please no spoilers!
Star Wars
I have seen TFA so stuff involving the new characters and storylines is great. My extended universe knowledge is pretty patchy, but I'm cool with doing something in any era of the galactic timeline. I think I'd love something with a high adventure feel here (so think Indiana Jones, Uncharted, or the older Tomb Raider games except in the Star Wars galaxy). The galaxy has a ridiculously long history which means there's gotta be tons of long forgotten civilizations, ancient ruins, and secrets waiting to be rediscovered. I'm open to all sorts of story possibilities, though, and I'd definitely be up to giving a crack at playing some of the movie characters as well.
I've seen all the movies except the animated Clone Wars one. I haven't seen either of the Clone Wars cartoons yet but they're kind of on my to do list. I'll probably check them out later this year. Gamewise I used to play Shadows of the Empire a ton when I was a kid but that was so long ago I don't really remember any details about the story. I've played some of the miscellaneous tie-in style games too. More recently I've played the first Knights of the Old Republic game and plan on playing the second soon, and the MMO... eventually. My MMO time is tied up by other games at the moment. I haven't read any of the comics or books yet but I do have a Marvel Unlimited subscription that's been moldering for months so maybe I'll check out some of the comics soon.
Other than that I'm definitely wiki-friendly and willing to check out a specific book, comic, or game if it has a plot element you're interested in.
I'm not really that interested in the whole ages long conflict between the Jedi and Sith but I do love Force powers, lightsabers, and all that good stuff. It could be fun to have a character who's Force sensitive but hasn't had any formal training for whatever reason.
Tolkien Legendarium (Lord of the Rings, Hobbit, etc)
A recent LotR movie trilogy rewatch has reawakened my obsession with Arda. Maybe this time I'll actually read the Silmarillion! I'm most experienced with the movies but I have read the 'main' books (Hobbit + LotR) though it's been over ten years since I've done so and I really should do a reread of those soon too!
I also play the MMO on and off though my highest level character only got to Moria.
I'm honestly not sure what I'd want to do here. There's just so many paths that can be taken. I will say I'm not quite as interested in stuff based on the Hobbit movie trilogy. I'm pretty fond of it even if it doesn't reach the heights of the LotR movies but I prefer the 'feel' of the main trilogy.
Uncharted
I haven't played Golden Abyss and I don't have a PS4 yet so no Uncharted 4 (but this dang game might be what finally pushes me over the edge to getting one, haha). I'm not familiar with any of the other supplemental content (I think there's a comic series and a couple novels?) but I'd be willing to do research. This series is kind of my guilty pleasure, to be honest. I love cheesy adventure stories about lost civilizations and ancient conspiracies. Preferably I'd like to do an RP patterned after one of the game plots with all the requisite globe trotting, adventure, ridiculous wisecracks, and over the top action sequences where there's no way in hell anyone would be able to realistically survive that but oh look they just did.
I'm tentatively interested in expanding the whole British secret society from Uncharted 3 (Marlowe and Talbot's group) as it felt like a lot of the potential in that organization wasn't really carried out by the plot. Other than that we can brainstorm and feel something out. Any point in the series timeline is fine, and I'd be up for playing a mix of canon characters and OCs. AUs are also a possibility, as always.
I think a lot of fun in this one will be looking up a legendary lost city or something about an ancient civilization or secret society and weaving a plot around it. It could also be fun to do a storyline where one of the villains has already achieved their goal and the adventure is less a race to a city or artifact and more 'what weird ancient BS out there can stop these people before they ruin everything'.
More coming soon... maybe.
