Anya Romanov
heart, don't fail me now.
So I've decided to post the profiles for a couple of my most well-developed and most commonly used characters.
The images do NOT belong to me, but the characters themselves do.

[lolz I know that her clothing is not medieval-friendly and that this is a heavily edited promo image for Maze Runner... but her hair and expression are way too perfect]Age: 20-something (depending on the rp)
Occupation: Surgeon/physician
Strengths:
[+] Intelligence - She has a sharp wit, a logical mind, and thinks well on her feet.
[+] Healing - In addition to an extensive knowledge of herbs and remedies, she is quite adept at certain procedures such as sewing wounds, setting bones, and amputations.
[+] Combat - Thanks to her brother, Evelyn has a good deal of experience handling a sword and isn't terrible with a bow or hand-to-hand combat.
[+] Resilience - She is able to endure a great deal of hardship and come out relatively unscathed, though she is not immune to the emotional burdens that come with them. Her coping mechanism under times of great stress is to power through the situation, then find a nice, quiet place to break down for awhile before pulling herself back together.
[+] Tenacity - One would be hard-pressed to dissuade her from accomplishing what she sets out to.
[+] Compassion - She has a tenderness for those in need and will not hesitate to help anyone she can, if she's able to.
Weaknesses:
[-] Stubbornness - Many of her troubles could be avoided if she would keep her mouth shut or agree to do something someone else's way.
[-] Physical strength - Though she can hold her own well enough, it is sometimes impossible for her to overcome an opponent twice her size.
[-] Tactics - Just because she has a logical mind doesn't necessarily mean she uses it. She tends to go with her gut and sometimes doesn't make the most strategic decisions because of it.
[-] Patience - She doesn't have much of it.
[-] Relationships - She's hesitant to open up to others and has several layers to get through before one can feel truly close to her.
[-] Societal rules - She was born and raised a lady, and she can certainly play the part. However, she feels no obligation to conform to other people's expectations of who she should be or how she should act.
General Appearance:
Evelyn is tall for a woman of these times, standing at 5'8". She has a sturdy, limber build, strong yet still slender. Her dark hair falls in loose waves a few inches past her shoulders. When it isn't hanging loosely, it's either half-tied or twisted into some sort of braid to keep it out of her face. Her clothing varies, depending on whether she is living in the villages or at court [depends on the plot]. It is not unusual to see her wearing a blood-stained apron or going around with her sleeves rolled up while she sees patients. Her eyes are dark blue.
Background:
Evelyn is the middle child of her family and by far the most mischievous. Her elder brother is like her in some ways, but his sense of responsibility greatly outweighs his sense of adventure, now that they're no longer children. Her young sister is perfectly sweet and compliant with society's rules.
Her mother died when she was a child, and her father did his best to raise them well, though they were mostly brought up by tutors and nurses. When Evelyn was fifteen, her father began to invite suitors over, with the genuine intentions of giving both of his daughters comfortable, happy lives in the arms of rich noblemen. For some reason, Evelyn failed to be grateful for these intentions. She was a terror to all her suitors, constantly finding new ways to trick or tease them, and she often made herself scarce so she wouldn't have to meet them at all. Her father grew exasperated over the years, but he didn't have the heart to force an arranged marriage on her. Thus, he sent her to be a lady-in-waiting for the queen. It was a prestigious position that usually ended with the young lady finding a match at court, but at least it would give her something to do in the meantime.
Seeing no other way out, Evelyn complied, happy for a change of scenery and eager to explore the city. She was eighteen, and it was time for her to get out of the house. She struggled to maintain interest in her duties and shirked them often. Thankfully, the queen was merciful and understanding; as long as Evelyn didn't completely disregard her or get herself into serious trouble, she would not be sent away. So Evelyn struck out on her own now and then to see the sights and explore the city. She met a surgeon in town and began to work as his assistant. Though her father and brother protested, she left her position in the palace and began to work for the surgeon full-time, living in a spare room in his home. After assisting him for several months, she developed a keen interest in the work. Thus, he spent the better part of three years teaching her everything there was to know about herbs and healing. It was unconventional, to be sure, but the surgeon had become burdened by his workload and was in need of another physician in the area.
~That's pretty much her background in a nutshell. There's more to it, but it will likely vary depending on the nature of the role play. c: After she becomes a surgeon herself, she could stay in the city, work in the outer villages, or become the court physician - any number of scenarios depending on the plot and setting of the RP
Age: Mid-late 20s
Occupation: Soldier/Knight/Guard/Ranger (depending on the rp)
Strengths:
[+] Combat - Combat is a large part of his occupation, so he is required to be excellent at it. He has trained nearly all his life with the sword, but he is proficient with most other weapons, as well. Years of practice and training combined with a sharp mind and able body make him a force to be reckoned with.
[+] Climbing - Oddly enough, he has a great skill for climbing. He has encountered few trees, walls, or mountains that he could not climb. Granted, it is not so easily done wearing his usual armor, so this is only a useful skill when he is without the heavy metal plates and chain mail on his body.
[+] Reading People - He has a strong instinct for people's true intentions, and he often trusts his gut feelings. His gut has certainly been wrong before, but if he believes a person to not be trustworthy, he would rather be cautious and risk error than ignore his intuition.
[+] Debating - Both observant and practical, he is a formidable opponent in a debate of reason. He does not stoop to name-calling or insults (unless he is bantering with a friend) but rather pumps out logical thought processes. Also, he has a natural talent for persuasion.
[+] Social Events - In general, Arek is more prone to observation than inserting himself in every conversation. However, in a small group or one-on-one setting, he is quite easy to have an intelligent conversation with. He does not bore his companions with endless stories or boasting; rather, he combines light-hearted discussion with genuinely interested inquiries about his companions.
Weaknesses:
[-] Dancing - Despite his enjoyment of social occasions, both private and formal, he is a most unfortunate dancer. He lacks any natural ability to create smooth movements in line with the music, or to memorize dance steps. He will avoid the humiliation of dancing at all costs.
[-] Emotions - To be specific, he is not very good at verbally expressing his affections. It is a most uncomfortable situation for him. His primary way of showing affection is to give himself in service and protection to the object of his love. Unfortunately, he is often required to do that, anyway, in his line of work.
[-] Resting - He has a difficult time being idle for any period of time, and he dislikes sleeping. He would rather take on extra night watches than try to sleep while his mind was active.
[-] Pride - He is not good at admitting fault or error, especially when he believes he is right. Also, he is greatly angered when someone of a lower rank defies him.
[-] Following strict rules - Though he understands the importance of laws and certain guidelines, Arek generally makes decisions based on his own gut and moral compass. He can be fiercely devoted to a cause, but he also is a free thinker who tends to do what he believes is right rather than blindly following rules.
General Appearance:
He has dark hair that is usually kept fairly short, sweeping across his forehead in the front but never touching his eyebrows or going past his ears. He usually maintains a bit of scruff on his face, only shaving once every week or so. His eyes are brown from a distance, but upon close inspection, one can see that a ring of gold surrounds his pupils, and his irises are streaked with thin lines of hazel and green. He is six feet tall, has a lean, athletic build, and carries several scars of varying size across his body. When he is not dressed in his armor and/or uniform, he can be seen wearing a pair of breeches and a loose-fitting tunic with riding boots. He is rarely seen without his sword on his hip, and he keeps several other weapons concealed in his clothing.
In a Nutshell:
Arek carries himself with an air of quiet self-assurance. He is focused on his work and fiercely loyal.
SIDE NOTE: Arek and Evelyn are siblings, lolz. If it fits with the rp, I might have a cameo of one of them when I'm using the other. Or I might even double up and use them both as mains. O:
