It was chaos. Shots were fired on both sides; one was pinned down in the woods by the other. A small family isolated from the rest of their group; doing their best to stay alive. Filthy, exhausted, pushed to their limit. One was too slow to react...The sound of a bullet echoed throughout the trees, heading straight for them....BANG!

A body fell.....but it wasn’t theirs. The horrified face of the loved one she pushed out of the way was the last thing she saw.....before sinking into darkness and silence.......

When she finally awoke, she found herself in a black void, face down in a pool of...water? What the....? Furrowing her brows in confusion, the young adult groaned as she struggled to her feet, clutching where she had been shot. Where....was she? Wait....her wound....Why didn’t it feel wet?

She looked down, shocked to see that there was no blood, nor a hole. ‘What the heck?! Where’s the gunshot wound?! Is this a dream? Am I unconscious? Or....No. No, I can’t be...’

But...it was true, wasn’t it? How could she possibly survive being shot through the chest? She felt herself slip away; felt her heart stop. She knew when she made her choice that she might not survive. She didn’t have to think about it...her body just...moved. She didn’t want to die...but she could never have allowed any of her loved ones, her family, to be killed. She valued their lives more than her own...and willingly paid the price for saving them.

So...was this it, then? Was this the afterlife? Was she stuck here alone...forever? Without even knowing if her family lived or not? But...wouldn’t they be here, too? She tried calling out to see if someone, anyone was here. She didn’t care if they were someone she had lost a long time ago or a stranger; she just didn’t want to be alone. She wandered, looking everywhere for signs of another living thing. Eventually, she gave up, collapsing to the ground and crying......

She didn’t know how long she had remained there, but a strange sound caused her to look up. “Huh...?” She narrowed her eyes, trying to comprehend what she was seeing. She gasped; what was that?! A creature about her size stood several feet away from her, an unreadable expression on its face. It was like no creature she had ever seen before!

Whatever it was, it had features of several different creatures: a cat, a fox, a rabbit, and a leopard. It had huge bat-like wings; leopard rosettes resembling twinkle stars coated its furry body. It had nine long, fluffy tails: leopard, fox, rabbit, in that pattern. They appeared to emit a gentle, ethereal, colorful glow. The eyes were autumn orange, and rimmed with black, with slit, cat-like pupils, which seemed to be examining her closely.

After a moment, it approached her, causing her to freeze, eying it warily. Was it possible to get hurt in the afterlife? Surely not...unless this was hell. But....somehow, she didn’t think that’s where she was. She wasn’t certain of what to expect, but it certainly wasn’t what happened next. It stopped, staring at her for a moment longer...then enveloped her in a hug, purring.

Her eyes widened in surprise; was it...comforting her? She was too shocked to react at first, but she eventually relaxed, reciprocating the embrace, clinging to its warm, extremely soft fur. She felt at peace...Then things got even more weird when the creature started to glow. Before she could react, its form warped, becoming pure....energy? as she felt it swirling around her, faster and faster until it hit her square in the chest, flowing into her. Her surroundings and everything within it, faded away, and she felt herself fall through darkness once more.....





.....Bright. Why was it so...bright? It...blinded her. Everything was a blur to her; she could barely make out the shapes scurrying about. They were saying...something, but she couldn’t make out what the words were. It didn’t sound like English, whatever it was.


She felt herself being placed next to something; she could barely make out their face. It looked like....a woman? Why was she so...huge? She could barely make out the words...ones that she couldn’t understand the meaning of...Until later. “They’re so tiny. No matter what happens, I’ll always protect you! Gaara, Nemera...!” When her vision and hearing cleared much later, she realized what, and where, she was. ‘Oh. Crap!”



Many years later....



Taking her first tentative steps into the village, Nemera’s head turned as she glanced around at their surroundings, taking it all in. She could barely suppress the mix of curiosity, anxiety, and excitement she felt. So far, she hadn't noticed many familiar people; if things went the way they did in canon, they'd meet Team 7 and Konohamaru and his friends. Hopefully on better terms...If she could get her brothers Kankurō and Gaara to behave themselves. Easier said than done. At least their older sister Temari was less likely to get into trouble.


She didn’t understand why, but she had the strangest feeling of deja vu. At first, she thought it was simply because her previous incarnation had watched the anime based on this world and, since Nemera had somehow retained all of the woman’s memories, her recognition of this place was because of that. That had to be the case, right? The Suna genin had never set foot in Konoha before today, after all.


But if that was true...Then why....why did it feel like she had walked these streets a thousand times? The sights, the smells, even some of the people...It should have all felt new to her, and yet...She was surprised to instead feel an unexpected warmth in her chest. Was it...nostalgia she was feeling? That didn’t make any sense...


After a moment, she caught herself looking around almost expectedly. She knew she wouldn't be able to see him if he didn't want to be seen, but she wondered where Kakashi was. She wasn't entirely sure why...but something in her urged her to seek him out. This random impulse confused her; she may know about him and his life in the original timeline, but that didn't mean she knew him. They were strangers, and from different shinobi villages, at that. She doubted he'd want a random Suna brat approaching him out of nowhere wanting to be friends.

Not to mention, she had secrets she didn't want anyone to find out about...and Kakashi was highly intelligent and perceptive. Between that and the dang coup, it'd unfortunately probably be best if she kept her distance, instead...So, why? Why did that make her feel a pang of sorrow and longing? She shook her head, attempting to focus on something else.

Then the real Chojo jumps into the air after her opponent and grabs hold of them, forcing them into a downward fall to crash her opponent into the ground headfirst. As they smash into the ground, Chojo sends powerful bolts of lightning through her opponent's body to electrocute them.

Lightning Kunai Strike (Lightning Release, TaiJutsu): Focusing her Lightning Release into a Kunai Knife, Chojo uses the Body Flicker Technique and cuts at her opponent. This attack is very difficult to dodge effectively. As her opponent is weakened by her attacks, she stabs the charged Kunai into her opponent's body, sending a powerful blast of electricity to finish them off.

Shocking One Punch (Lightning Release, TaiJutsu): Concentrating her Lightning Chakra around her hands, Chojo uses the Body Flicker Technique from her current standpoint to suddenly appear in front of her target and delivers a powerful uppercut, knocking her opponent backwards into the ground while at the same time sending a massive electric shock through her opponent's body.

Smashing Shock Wave (Lightning Release, TaiJutsu): Focusing her Lightning Chakra around her hands, she delivers a powerful kick to send her opponent into the air and then jumps up after them. Great Rushing Wave (Water Release): the user spews out a massive amount of water, covering an entire area with a ferocious tsunami. The produced ocean of water can be used for further techniques.

Hyrdoexplosion Body (Water Release): First Nomiko uses the Great Rushing Wave technique, then she dissolves into a big pool of water, engulfing the opponent, then emerges from beneath the opponent's feet and explodes. As the user is able to turn their entire body into water, they do not sustain damage and are able to re-assemble after detonation.

Air Bullet Barrage (Wind Release): This technique shoots multiple bullets of air at the victim with intense speed. The bullets also have great power, enough to subdue a whole group of shinobi.

Great Rushing Wave Strike (Water Release, Lightning Release): While standing in water, the user generates a burst of electricity, shocking anyone also in the water with them.

Lightning Dragon Hurricane (Lightning Release, Water Release, Wind Release): Nomiko draws lightning down upon her body. The current will be contained within and around Nomiko's form. She will then begin to spin in place forming a whirling vortex of wind and electricity. The vortex will take on the form of a dragon's head and will cover the area in front of her. It will then strike out against her opponent and painfully trap them in the vortex. Even if the attack doesn't directly connect with his foe, the lightning can jump from the vortex to hit a nearby target. Once trapped in the vortex, the dragon then turns into a great, powerful hurricane before the attack is finished.

History:


Nemera was a 27 year old woman named Sonya who lived in the ‘Real World’. She was mentally ill, yet was intelligent, and aware of all that was wrong with her mind. She couldn’t live on her own, so she stayed with her parents and little brother.

She felt a strange sense of not belonging anywhere and feeling ‘different’, ‘weird’, etc. but was unable to entirely explain or understand why. Something, or someone, was missing; this she also couldn’t explain. She felt an odd connection to certain characters from the anime Naruto, and had occasional dreams/nightmares that seemed too real to just be her imagination. A girl with red eyes…a colossal beast with markings like stars…

Things only started to make sense after her death, when she ‘woke up’ in a certain place and met a certain someone…

She was killed during her country’s civil war; she pushed a loved one out of the way of a bullet and was shot in the heart in their place.

After dying, she ended up in Purgatory, where she met with and was reincarnated by a mysterious creature into the Naruto World as Gaara’s twin sister.

She was named Nemera by her and her siblings’ mother Karura, who died shortly after giving birth to Gaara and her prematurely. Her previous life almost nothing like her current, she is unprepared for the harsh shinobi world, but, armed with her knowledge of this world from watching the anime, she is determined not only to survive, but to become stronger and make a difference in this world. Even if only a little.

She at least wanted to prevent her twin brother Gaara from suffering and going down that dark and lonely path he had in the ‘story’. She wanted to protect him and their siblings, and, maybe, they—and potentially others—could even become friends?

Either way, she was determined to survive, discover her potential and purpose, and protect those that she cared about...Perhaps, even fall in love?

…What she didn’t realize, was how much had changed, including certain people, and that she already has previous ties to this world. Why did some people, places, and events feel so...familiar?

She is nocturnal.


Abilities:

She has keen senses of sight, hearing, and smell. She can fly, swim, climb, run, bounce, leap, and roll. She can breathe on land and in water. She has a Kekkei Tota: Plasma Release, which is a mix of Fire, Lightning, and Wind. Nemera inherits this from her. She can create fire tornados and hurricanes. She can generate a dangerous amount of electricity, and can shock from either contact or striking with lightning through the ground or from the air. She can ride the wind and make herself and her attacks faster.

Her eyes, the tips of her fur and whiskers, her tails, and the outline of her wings and the tiny dots on the inside and outside of them can glow and change colors.

Her weakness is ice and extreme cold. She can fight and overcome it, but it can also destroy her. She loves the heat and hates the cold; she has a high heat tolerance. She has sharp fangs that slice, rip, and penetrate deeply with ease, strong jaws that can bite through steel, and sharp talons that can slice through it. She can curl up into a ball and roll and bounce around. (Think Sonic the Hedgehog)
Her paws are nimble and dexterous. Her tails are prehensile.

She is not very strong or large compared to the Biju such as Kurama, nor is she the most powerful Biju despite her abilities, but she is the size of the Gobi (the five tails biju), still very powerful, swift, agile, tenacious, enduring, and intelligent. She kills prey as swiftly and painlessly as possible, injecting a numbing, tranquilizing agent with their fangs so they won't feel a thing. She doesn’t like to cause unnecessary suffering, despite her taste and need for meat. This special venom can also be utilized for helping others in pain or distress as well. She can use certain elements, such as fire, to heal.


She can walk and run on all fours and on two legs. She is capable of human speech, and is as intelligent as one. She is sapient.




She can seal herself inside of her chosen vessel, and can even reincarnate them if she enters a soul instead of a living body. This is what happened when she met Sonya in Purgatory. She cannot be extracted to be absorbed and used by someone else; if they do somehow manage to extract her, both her and her jinchuriki will die. They would have to absorb both her and her host....This is all due to Twila bonding so thoroughly with Nemera and because of her using her power to reincarnate Sonya as her. Another thing about their bond is wherever one goes, the other will as well. For example, if Kakashi or Obito uses Kamui on one of them, the other will get vacuumed up and transported to the Kamui Dimension as well.


She can take over and transform the host—whether they are willing or not; it starts out with certain features like the eyes and teeth changing into her’s. Next is the chakra cloak, then partial transformation, then full transformation into her. She can also project her chakra like Kurama can; this is known as Kineusayō Chakra Mode.

Unlike the other Tailed Beasts, she has no cage or restraints, and as such can roam freely inside of the jinchuriki’s mindscape and can manipulate it. She can also temporarily leave the host’s body and interact with the world and beings around her. She can only do this for so long and stray so far from her host, before eventually needing to return to the inside of the seal.


She can heal quite grievous injuries, both her’s and her host’s, but even she has a limit. She can break the host out of genjutsus, but can be susceptible herself to the high level ones such as Tsukuyomi. She has a much larger chakra pool than Nemera, and can allow her access to it.

She can use the same Plasma jutsus as Nemera, and even more.

Their Physical Appearance is:

Her head is like a cat's with a fox muzzle; the muzzle has a shinobi mask marking with a pointed tip on the nose. The end of the fox muzzle has an upside down ‘V’ shape that a cat muzzle has. The eyes are like a cat's. The whiskers are needle-like. The ears are long and large, and are pointed like a fox's but shaped a little like a rabbit's. She has long, sharp, needle-like fangs with serrated edges. Two fangs stick out the top of the muzzle when it's closed; they are different from the rest of the fangs as they contain a special venom and are hypodermic. These two fangs can be drawn backwards and out of the way when not in use, then thrust outward when threatened, hunting, etc. Neither they nor the grooming teeth or bottom front fangs are serrated. She is small, short, and slender.

The front half of the body is cat-like, which transitions into the fox-like back half. She has cat arms/front legs, and fox back legs. She has cat hands/paws, and rabbit feet, with long, sharp, retractable talons, and cat paw pads. She has nine, long, prehensile, fluffy tails that alternate between leopard, fox, and rabbit tails--leopard, fox, rabbit, leopard, fox, rabbit, leopard, fox, rabbit. She has long, large bat wings that can wrap around and conceal her.

Her fur is as soft as a chinchilla’s, thick, and is semi-long, with a variant of leopard rosettes called starettes. The starettes (star rosettes) are shaped like twinkle stars. The ‘dots’ are card diamonds. Her cheeks have long, pointed tufts of fur sticking out. She has long tufts sticking out of her elbows and knees that start there, then continue all the way down her front legs/arms and back legs below her elbows and knees. Only the inside of her wings have starettes. Her eyes, tips of her fur and whiskers, cross marking, and the outline of her wings and the tiny dots on the inside and outside of them can glow and change colors.

The fur is striped with dark purple, dark green, dark blue, and dark september rain, with starettes that are sharingan red with a black outline. The card diamond shaped dots are black. The stripes form a spiral on both of her sides; they merge and flow up towards the neck on the underside of her body, and downwards on the back. The underside and the back also have card diamond shaped dots, and starettes. The eyes are a lighter autumn orange, with black eyelids that are rimmed with black. The tapetum lucidum of her eyes give her excellent night vision; she can even still see colors. The reflection of her eyes at night shine red as a sharingan. The paws, ear tips, muzzle (including the mask marking), and tail tips are black. The nose and paw pads are red. The whiskers are yellow. The talons are silver. The inside of the ears are dark blue. The tips of the back of the ears have silver ‘eyespots’. The fangs are white, and the tongue is light pink.

The wings are dark shades of autumn leaf reds, oranges, yellows, browns, and blue; with black ‘veins’, and a white ‘claw’ on the black, bat thumb of the wings.

The tails have different shades that are a little lighter than the rest of the fur. The leopard tails are purple, the fox tails are green, and the rabbit tails are blue. The black tails tips have elemental markings: flames for leopard tails, lightning bolts for fox tails, and wind swirls for rabbit tails. The tails can change colors based on moods. They have starettes.


She has a marking in the shape of a dark orange Christian cross on her chest. She has two scars: one diagonal slash on her forehead, and a few diagonal slashes on her chest. It doesn't cover the cross marking, though.

Twila in particular is a troll that gets a kick out of messing with people. When it comes to training Nemera, she’s a sink-or-swim kind of sensei; though she wouldn’t truly let her die or anything like that. She’ll intervene if need be. She does have a tendency to push her too hard, but she is attempting to toughen her up as much as possible, instilling skills she’ll need to survive both her enemies and the environment around her. She also encourages Nemera to think for herself and to learn how to figure things out on her own. Though she might not always show it, she cares deeply for Nemera and whoever else she may become attached to.



They prefer to live peacefully, but are fiercely protective of their loved ones and can be downright terrifying if pushed too far.

They value love and have a lot of empathy, but are also fighters and survivors, developing a will of steel from enduring the trials and pain they face in their lives.

They are semi-social, and are introverted, cautious, and guarded. If you manage to befriend one, they can be a friend for eternity; bonding intensely, passionately, and deeply. If the bond is broken somehow, it causes them a great deal of pain.

Personality:

She feels a strange sense of not belonging anywhere and feeling ‘different’, ‘weird’, etc. but is unable to entirely explain or understand why. There’s also a sense of something, or someone missing; this she also can’t explain. Feels an odd connection to certain characters from Naruto. Has occasional dreams/nightmares of her past life as Chiko, but doesn’t realize they’re memories and not just something her mind made up. Things only started to make sense after her death, when she ‘woke up’ in a certain place and met a certain someone….

Personal Story: She was found on the outskirts of the Hidden Leaf Village and taken in as their own. The only thing she remembers upon waking in the hospital is her name and that she feels she belongs elsewhere in the world. Though she doesn't know where or why. She also feels that she holds a terrible power within her and that if she remembers her past, the power will awaken and destroy everything in its path if she can't control it. Being a bit of an outcast in the village, she is placed on Nomiko's team as a fourth member in the Chunin Exams.

Inner Darkness: If awakened, her Chakra turns black and becomes a see-through cloak around her body (like Naruto when the Nine Tailed Fox appears). To feed her Inner Darkness, she must drink the blood and Chakra of other Ninja. Just like a vampire! Complete with fangs! When her Inner Darkness is completely woken, she can move so fast she isn't seen and has immense strength and very sharp fangs and deadly claws. She also gains more power at night when her Inner Darkness is awakened.

Blood Manipulation: It is discovered that Saruza can fight by using her own blood as weapons. But the more she fights with her own blood, the more she must consume afterwords to replenish her own and her Chakra.

JUTSUs:
Bloody Needle Barrage (Blood Release): The user manifests needles made of their own blood from either hand. Upon production, they can be launched as a massive barrage. The force behind these needles are strong, able to plough through the ground.

Clones of Blood (Blood Release): Using her own blood, Saruza can create clones. When destroyed, they turn into pools of blood.

Shuriken Blood Bath (Blood Release): Creating clones from her own blood, Saruza and her clones then use the Body Flicker Technique and send shurikens of her own blood at her targets in rapid succession, hacking them to pieces. This attack is very difficult to dodge.

Raining Blood Needle Torrent (Blood Release): Creating clones of blood, Saruza and her clones jump high into the air and release a powerful barrage of needles while they spin. This attack is very difficult to avoid. As the real Saruza lands back to earth, she release blood shuriken at her target while running around them in a high-speed circle, concentrating her Chakra in her feet to give her a boost of speed.

It was finally time for the Chunin Exams, and fellow ninja teams were coming to the Hidden Leaf Village from all around the other nations. The Hidden Sand Village...The Hidden Sound Village just to name a couple of others. Nomiko had recommended her team of girls alongside Kakashi and Guy. The Chunin Exams were going to be a great test of both mental and physical abilities of being a ninja. You had to have both the brains and the brawn. Nomiko was confident her girls would succeed in both the written and physical exams. They had even been given a fourth member. A girl the same age as them named Saruza Kan. It took her team a long time to fully accept Saruza. Even Nomiko had been unsure at first about the girl, sensing that there was something unusual about her. Eventually Saruza proved herself on their missions and training for the upcoming Chunin Exams.

There was a thud as a Kunai was thrown, just missing the center of the target. Rin Tanaka stood panting and straightened her form, letting out a long, deep breath. There wasn't very much time left before the Chunin Exams. It would be a long and tough journey for the newly appointed Genin of their Sensei's teams. But Nomiko was confident in her girls.

Rin tightened her long ponytail, letting out a satisfied deep breath. She was so ready for the Chunin Exams. Panting, she looked behind her as two of her other teammates approached. Looking up at the sky, she saw that it was nearly sundown.

"You're still out training?" Haruka asked as her teammates approached, frowning.

"Well, yeah. The exams aren't very far away after all." Rin shrugged and looked back and forth between Chojo and Haruka. "Where's Saruza?"

Haruka shrugged. "She said something about needed to meditate."

Rin blinked. "Oh." Walking over to the wooden target, she yanked out the Kunai Knife and twirled it on her finger before catching it in her hand, tossing it at the target, this time hitting it dead center.

Taking her first steps into the Hidden Leaf Village, Temari and Gaara took in what they saw. Temari raised an eyebrow. "So, this is the Hidden Leaf Village...Doesn't look like much." She muttered. A gust of wind suddenly blew around them. Tugging at their hair and clothes, scattering leaves and blades of grass around them. "Hmph. These exams are going to be a sinch!"

Gaara said nothing. But then, he wasn't the type to hold much of a conversation with anyone. The only one he rarely spoke to was Nemara. Still...The Hidden Leaf Village didn't look like much. "Just shut up and remember why we're here." He muttered under his breath, looking over at Temari briefly with his icy eyes.

Temari blinked and swallowed hard, a bead of sweat dripping down the back of her neck. "Uh...Right...Sorry Gaara..." She smiled nervously but went quiet.

 

[Nocturne]

When the wind picked up, Nemera impulsively snatched one of the leaves swirling around her, bringing it up to her face and staring at it. It was a pleasant shade of green, and felt soft to the touch as she ran a finger over it. Growing up in a desert, she wasn’t used to all of these trees and plants surrounding her. You would think she’d have felt claustrophobic when they journeyed through Konoha’s forest to get to their village, but something about it felt so…right.

She couldn’t explain it, but she had felt a sense of comfort and security, and she had to stop herself on more than one occasion from wandering off from the group to explore. Not only would that have slowed everyone down, knowing herself, she probably would have gotten lost. She’d been chastised and cuffed over the head by one of her frustrated and worried siblings more than once for this very tendency. She didn’t mean to stress them out, and had been trying to learn how to control that impulse, but…

By the time she looked up, uncaring of the leaves that got stuck in her hair—it wasn’t much worse than the sand she never seemed to succeed in completely getting rid of—, she sweatdropped as she realized…she had no idea where she was. ……Frak.



Kankurō snorted, a smirk on his face as they ventured into the village. There was nothing impressive about this place; they had nothing to worry about as far as he was concerned. From Temari’s quip, she felt the same. “Yeah; these losers won’t stand a chance against us.” he replied smugly. He grumbled and swatted at the leaves that the sudden gust had blown in his face, blinking rapidly as his vision was briefly obscured. He would have said more, but their younger brother Gaara obviously wasn’t having it. With a strained grin, he responded, “My bad, Gaara. Shutting up now.”

It was at times like this that he wondered why Nemera was so close with Gaara. For whatever reason, though, she was the only one that didn’t seem to piss him off for just existing. Him and Temari usually relied on her to be the peacekeeper of the group; he knew it wasn’t entirely fair to her, but she was the only one who could get through to her twin. If he ever decided for whatever reason to turn on her, too, they were all screwed.

Speaking of Nemera, she hadn’t said a word since they set foot in Konoha. She tended to flip between not saying much, if anything, and talking their ears off if she got excited about something that interested her. It depended on the situation and her mood. Despite her and Gaara being twins, she thankfully wasn’t murderous or unhinged like their brother, so although she was so attached to him and resembled him in some ways, they didn’t fear her like they did him. The only times she’d ever killed someone was either in self-defense or in defense of others, and she never turned on her siblings or anyone innocent. Though she did have some things in common with Gaara, such as a short temper, she couldn’t be anymore different in how she treated others or bloodlust.

Frowning because something felt off, he turned his head towards Nemera…only to find an empty space next to Gaara. Eyes widening, he groaned and rolled his eyes, then glanced around, trying to spot their wayward sibling. “Aw man; has anyone seen Nemera?”



Nemera didn’t know how, but it seemed she had wandered onto one of the red, arched bridges over a river. …How long had I been wandering in the wrong direction??

She wondered whether it would be better to stay put until her siblings or sensei found her, or to go looking for her siblings. They had to have noticed she was missing by now…right? Surely they wouldn’t just go to the hotel without her? She scanned her surroundings, but all she noticed were random crowds of civilians and the occasional shinobi. Hiding her anxiety at being alone in a rival shinobi village, and worried about the trouble her siblings might get into without her, she looked down at the water below as she tried to make a decision.


“Are you lost?” Nemera’s blood froze. Th-that voice…I-it can’t be…She was afraid to look, but she had to confirm if that was who she thought it was, or if she had finally lost her mind. Moving slowly, she turned her head towards the source of the voice. Her indigo blue eyes met black, her pupils shrinking as she thought her heart might stop. Every fiber of her being screamed at her to run.

For the person standing beside her…was Obito Uchiha.
