How to Build a Character:

You have 40 stats to spend on 10 areas, to determine how good you are at things.

Every mission, I hand out points to spend on both.

On stats, you have 40 to spend, but don't count the overall categories. Those are for your overall skill in an area. If you have 8 speed, and 2 strength, your taijutsu overall is 5. It's a quick comparison on how you stand against other taijutsu users. The other guy has 7 strength, but 1 speed, his taijutsu is 4. You are theoretically better at taijutsu, but have vastly different styles. Also, you only spent 10 points here.

Your jutsu, you have so many jutsu points you can spend{12 starting}. B-rank costs 4, C-rank costs 2 points, D-rank costs 1, and E are free, etc. I'm assuming everyone has all the E-rank ones from the academy. Feel free to run jutsu by me to get their rank.

"Contrary to popular belief, life is very fair, your expectations are just skewed."
Ton Yamada

  • Team: <Unassigned>

Personality: "There are many things to say about me, but we do not have the time. Simply put I am capable of all things, i cannot over succeed as others do, i will not be destroying gods with my eyes and tearing apart fabrics of reality with my techniques. I am just me, and I am a very adaptable person with strengths and weaknesses like any other. You can find five of my type just looking into a crowd, i am the same person in all of them.

I am the everyman, capable of any job and anything required. Within reason.

...Does.. that sounds good for a entry into a bingo book or something? ..No.. it's not very cool.. it kinda loops in on it's self... And it's boring.. I tried going for a "I am everywhere and capable of everything" type thing and be all spooky but...

    ...Huh..?

    OH SHITS IT'S STILL RECORDING!"

History: He was a normal boy.

He grew up to a lower middle class family, no bloodline, only hard work keeping them afloat, he had a large family full of sisters and brothers with him in the middle. many of his family went into work, but a small degree of aptitude shined through and thus he was sent to the academy to try and become something. There, he managed to meet the bar for every single thing he was tested on. he worked hard, that is to be certain, but his focus always was on something else whilst he was focusing on another.

He passed with little praise, and with little honors.

he was sent to train under a jonin with two others, there he found no true trouble or failure. the jonin found him to be an acceptable teammate, his two partners were more interested in each other than him and generally he passed by without note. Those two were some scions of some clan, he was not. his varied abilities came in use where others faultered, he desired nothing more than to keep this status quo going and to learn more...

But he always felt.. left behind... And in truth, rightfully so. The jonin focused on the ones that would make them popular, the partners barely remembered he was there and all he felt was disappointment.. especially when they fell... The Chuunin exams were a dangerous time, death was possible at each rung and more often than not many get left in the dust never to return... A battle commenced between his squad and one from the village hidden in the Clouds. he had handled himself well, utilizing his techniques to stay alive and help where he could but... The two just wouldn't listen to him...

They wouldn't give a damn about anything but their own showing off, hell their the ones who started the fight anyways!

Why did he have to fail because of two damned idiots!

WHY DID HIS SUCCESS DIE DUE TO THEIR STUPIDITY!

...So now... now he had a new job to do... One that was fitting of someone like him.

Clan Info: A lay about and general labor, without specializations, he was under the mark for everything. Or at least passed over in favor of those with better skills in specific fields.

WORK IN PROGRESS

Kitagawa Katsu

Put something your character would say here
Kitagawa Katsu

  • Team: <Unassigned>
    Personality:
Katsu is naturally impatient, though he was sort-of mostly trained out of making hasty decisions. He understands the need to wait for things to happen, and had that understanding beaten into him, but being idle chafes. The end result is that Katsu's kind of on a hair trigger; when he can't keep himself busy, he tends to appear calm and relaxed while looking for an opportunity to "do something."

Katsu's need to keep himself busy exacerbated by the death of his mother. Her death still hasn't really sunk in, and Katsu's kind of trying to keep himself focused on pretty much anything other than grieving. To him, mourning's "useless." It can't bring her back, after all; best to do something productive instead.

History: At least three paragraphs, last one will be them losing at the chunnin exams.
    • Kitagawa Katsu’s mother was a Hidden Mist deserter turned missing-nin who wound up recruited by the Leaf. She taught him swordsmanship and other ninja skills when he was growing up; Katsu inherited his sword – a chakra-steel jian – and much of his skillset from her.
    • His loss in the Chunin Exams was in the survival portion of the exam. In a fight with an opposing team he was baited into overextending, and got overwhelmed without support from his teammates. His teammates managed to pass the exam, but he didn't.
    • Katsu's Mother went MIA shortly before he left for the Chunin Exams. On his return to the Leaf, he was informed that she was in ANBU and was one among many in their ranks who mysteriously. With that explained, he was invited to join ANBU and help find out what happened. Katsu quickly accepted.

    Clan Info:
Katsu's clan is - was - just him and his mom. They had no specific role in the village; Katsu's mother was recruited into ANBU since she had the relevant skills and passed them on to her son.

"Sometimes.... Silence is truly deafening"
Kiyoshi

  • Height: 5ft 9
    Weight: 151
    Team: <Kasane>
    Code Name: Kōmori
    Personality:
A man of few words, Kiyoshi isn't the type to grab the spotlight, nor is he someone that desires to do so. He is far more comfortable being a face in the crowd, to be among the 'normal' people of society. As a child Kiyoshi never did let the wealth of the Habiki clan get to his head nor did he develop that snobbish personality that his siblings did. Whilst his older brother and sister were normally pampered by their households retainers, Kiyoshi was more inclined to spending time with his Uncle; a man cemented in the old tradition. In truth, Kiyoshi is heavily influenced by his uncles upbringing, seeing the man as more of a father figure then his own dad. Like his uncle, Kiyoshi appreciates the finer things in life and is more aware of how the world works unlike his pampered siblings. Kiyoshi unlike his siblings is unafraid to put the hard work in, to get his hands dirty and accomplish something he sets his mind on, if anything he abhors having someone else do something for him, especially trivial things such as cleaning his room.

The ever humble black sheep son of the Habiki clan, his friendliness towards the household retainers as well as to the villagers under the protection of the Habiki clan was often a point of ridicule from his older siblings as well as an embarrassment to his father as he often proclaimed such acts as being attempts to undermine his authority, not that that ever stopped him from venturing down into the village.

Nowadays it takes quite a lot to get Kiyoshi to show his anger; having developed a 'thick skin' from enduring the taunts his siblings often threw at him. He rarely lets the opinions of others affect him, much less change him; instead laughing it off as a simple misunderstanding. He is happy and satisfied with his decisions in life and is not ashamed of being different and the black sheep of the Habiki Clan.

An open and honest individual, Kiyoshi is someone who you can trust, a man who would take your secret to the grave if it was required to do so and as such he expects as much from those he would call his friends. His honesty however can often times lead to conflict as he is not the type to hold back his opinion on certain subjects even at the cost of 'hurting' your feelings. He says it how he see's it and would prefer if others did the same to him. His uncle often said that "The harsh truth can hurt, but it can also nurture, it can set the foundations needed in order to grow into a respectable man, but only if you choose to heed its warnings"

By no means a risk taker, he will patiently wait and try to assess a situation beforehand before deciding on what to do. Whether or not he makes the right decision however is still up to chance. He doesn't find it too difficult to make new friends, however he isn't going to over exert himself to befriend someone whose personality clashes with his. If overtime, those clashing personalities do relent and they can come to an understanding, he is more then willing to let bygones be bygones. He would prefer to have more friends than enemies thus he tries his best at finding a common ground between himself and another and use that as a foundation to grow the relationship.

Lastly, Kiyoshi despises oppression. He despised how his family ruled the small village they looked after, he despised how his siblings treated their retainers and he despised how the villagers finally snapped under their rule and revolted. Oppression and misuse of power are two things he can not stand and he uses his experience of witnessing both to fuel his maturity into a man who can wield power enough to change it.

    History:
Surviving meagrely within the Land of Silence, The Habiki Clan presided over a small village of 400+ villagers before ultimately succumbing to their inevitable revolt. The clans head Yamato Habiki was father to Samuru Habiki and Chikao Habiki as well as the grandfather to Kiyoshi. Yamato was a man who ruled with fear and oppression, a rulership quickly adopted by Samaru once he became the head of the family. For generations the Habiki family enlisted the most beautiful and handsome of the villagers children into becoming retainers for their household, tasked with fulfilling duties demanded of them by members of the family; the worst of which came from Kiyoshi's older siblings, Hideo Habiki and Asuka Habiki. The black sheep of the family, Kiyoshi had made a genuine attempt to befriend the retainers and villagers, his closest friend being Mizuki, the daughter of one of the maids.

The Habiki Clan had initially risen to power via their illegal dealings with the countries dark and seedy underbelly. Becoming one of several suppliers of illegal opioids, the Habiki Clan had flushed the Land of Silence's economy with a new kind of drug, profiting massively from their sales and amassing quite the bit of power for themselves among the several other clans within the land of Silence. Of course, a workforce was needed to maintain the supply for the growing demand and it was inevitable that the villagers they watched over would become the cheap labor force that they needed to continue flooding the market with their drugs. Proficient with Sound techniques and Fuuinjutsu, the Habiki clan would forcefully 'brand' the villagers with a curse mark; prohibiting them from even taking about the drugs so as to prevent the outside world from knowing of their illicit activities.

Ruling with an iron fist however could only last so long and it was merely a matter of time before karma came to bite in the form of a planned attack that took a year and a half of preparation before coming to fruition. Wild Flowers local to the area with large beautiful petals betrayed a darker secret. Gathered in large quantities, the crimson red foliage was crushed and kneaded into a fine powder; the potency of its hallucinogenic bite heightened during the process. This powder was then ironically smuggled into the household by their own retainers and added to the Habiki clans food and drink. Kiyoshi being the only member spared; unable to punish the youngest and most importantly innocent son for the crimes of his family. He had been the only member to have ever show them respect. Despite Chikao's respectful nature, the village had seen him as a man capable of stopping Samuru and his decision not to was instead seen as a sin that had to be punished as well.

Under the influence of the hallucinogenic drugs, the Habiki clan could not defend themselves properly as hordes of angry villagers stormed the grounds of their home, let in by the retainers that had poisoned their food and weakened them. Defenceless and at the mercy of the villagers rage, The Habiki clan soon perished and any remnants of their household pillaged and burnt to the ground.

Only Chikao and Kiyoshi managed to escape into the dead of night, using a hidden tunnel to flee their home and into the forest. Alas, it wasn't as clean a getaway as they had hoped. Kiyoshi in his childish naivety had often shown these various secret passages to Mizuki during the many times they played together and in turn, she had shown her mother who in her fury against the Habiki had made the angry horde aware. 5 pursuers chased them into the night, though success would not greet them as one by one they fell. 5 lives exchanged for severely wounding Chikao, paralyzing him in the process as a stray Kunai struck him in the back

Chikao would succumb to his injuries a few days later leaving Kiyoshi to fend for himself. It would be by chance that a Hidden Leaf squad sent to investigate the illegal sales of the Opioids would stumble across Kiyoshi several days after the attack, the boy exhausted and slumped against a tree next to the shallow grave he had dug for his now deceased uncle. Their investigation into the illegal sale and distribution of the Opioid that had found its way into the hidden leaf village had led them all the way to the land of silence.

Brought back as a witness with knowledge of both the drug and the circumstances surrounding the now destroyed village, Kiyoshi was given asylum in exchange for the little information and insight he had known about the drug.

Years would pass and with the Opioid no longer present within the Hidden Leaf Village, Kiyoshi would be allowed to enrol himself into the academy; having gained approval from the Hokage to pursue the path of a ninja. He'd remain mostly anonymous throughout his time in the academy; finding himself assigned to a team with two other genin and eventually making it up to the chuunin exam.

This would be where his steady rise among the ranks would hit a major dead end. Whilst individually each member of their genin team were strong enough on their own; their teamwork would leave much to be desired. A certain trial would end up pitting them against one another, putting their trust in one another to the test. Kiyoshi being the 'refugee' would find himself being ostracized by his former team mates; eventually succumbing to the test of the trial and being eliminated from progressing further.

    Or so he thought....

Clan Info: Kiyoshi is a refugee from the Land of Silence, where the Habiki Clan were once major distributors of an illegal Opioid. They have since been destroyed, with Kiyoshi being the only survivor of the main family.

Arabori Yumi

Yumi.jpg
"Quitters never win, winners never quit, but quitters live a whole lot longer."
Arabori Yumi

  • Team: <Unassigned>
Personality: Soft-spoken and more self-possessed than the average teenage girl, Yumi would slide under everyone's radar if she wasn't almost six feet tall. It's not that she's a loner, or humorless--she actually likes people, functions well on a team, and has an atrociously cheesy sense of humor. But in order to become a good archer, you need the hyper-focus and dedication required to spend a lot of time alone, drilling repetitive movements.

Yumi is a very good archer.

She's also a foundling, and that's left a mark on her. She's so used to being self-reliant that she has trouble asking for help. She craves approval, but bristles when offered affection. And forget talking about her emotions--she can barely identify them. None of those are bad qualities in ANBU, of course. It might even be part of why she was recruited.

History: Eleven years ago, the chūnin guarding Konohagakure found a small girl sitting on a rock outside the gates. There were no adults in sight, though she'd been left with a bento box, a warm jacket, and a note on her shirt that read "I am Yumi, age 3. I can use chakra. Please care for me."

Yumi didn't know her surname. When the chūnin let her leaf through his bingo book, she didn't identify any of the missing-nin pictured as her mother. After a quick exam confirmed that she was chakra-sensitive, she was quietly placed in an orphanage, and a place earmarked for her in the Academy when she turned five.

The orphanage was fine. The Academy, in Yumi's eyes, was better--fewer kids to compete with for attention, and a sensei who provided knowledge and not just food and a bed. When the students got beyond throwing kunai and shuriken and were allowed to pick individual weapons, she chose a bow and arrow because no one else was doing it. The other kids had kekkei genkai, clan hiden, inherited weapons and legacies. She needed something to make her stand out. (The fact that Yumi means bow didn't hurt either. She thinks the pun is funny.)

Outside of archery, she excelled at her stealth training, which made up for her small chakra pool and dismal genjutsu abilities. She was friendly enough with her classmates, but too obsessed with training to make close friends. Until she graduated, anyway, because then her teammates (Yamanaka Mitsuaki, genjutsu; Kumagai Kojo, taijutsu) took one look at their awkward, overly-tall teammate and forcibly adopted her as a surrogate sister. All three of them became close.

Mitsuaki died in the second round of the chūnin exams. Kojo and Yumi both failed. Shattered by the loss of their friend, Yumi and Kojo barely spoke on the way home...meaning that he wasn't around when she was recruited into ANBU.

Kanon Ametsuchi

sample-bcd60892d7d48b1b4ecf4ba2f71d27b6.jpg

No one can survive without the support of others, but no one can thrive without the support of themselves. If you don't make yourself your number one ally then who can you protect? What can you cherish?
Kanon Ametsuchi

  • Genin Team: Team Hotarubi
    Anbu Team: <Unassigned>
    Kanon's Playlist

    Personality:
Kanon is an idealist and a braggart. She puts her all into everything and she likes to make it known. That in itself is almost expected of an Ametsuchi. Competition is bred into her bones and she's the first to make something mundane as shopping for more tools into a race against herself and her peers. She's not likely to be bullied, in most cases one could say she is the bully. Still, aside from her snarky little one-liners, she doesn't take much time to put people down as she spends so much of it pushing herself up. "Cause I'm so awesome!" Is something Kanon has definitely said before. She takes pride in what she does and has an abundant amount of confidence, which is not always deserved.

While Kanon has the creativity to wriggle out of many situations she far from the brightest or the strongest. She's the type to take the wrong way around by accident and still brute force an answer. She's the one that will be giving you a lot of options but she doesn't do well with finding the best one. A cute toy or random change in the environment can easily lead her to new ideas to try unconventional things. She takes the time to imagine without taking any real time to plan or logistics check.

But one thing Kanon is not is soft. While Kanon may not be the most capable fighter she will eviscerate her enemies if she could. She's not one to see another's point of view or worry for those on the other side. Deep down this girl is ruthless. She's fueled by the practical advice of her father to never leave an enemy behind alive unless you want to run your whole life. Justice means nothing and ideals won't feed you. So Slice slice slice!

And yet while Kanon, by all means, is a goddamn terror she knows what’s important to her in life. She listens well to the will of the Ametsuchi and does her best to make her clan and her village proud. For her moving her family up in social standing comes from protecting and advancing Konoha. After all, if she couldn’t take orders and had some sense of duty to her family then she would have never become a Kunoichi. So throwing away her pride and becoming an undercover Anbu was only the logical progression in her own eyes.

She had failed herself, her team, and her family. So she had to do all that she could to make up for that.

    History:
Kanon was born into the Main Branch of the Ametsuchi. This doesn’t mean anything in her family however and gives her no more right to be a Main Branch member than any of her other relatives. The Ametsuchi Clan are focused on power and renown those that add to the family early on are the ones that are hailed as the Main Branch of the Ametsuchi. As such from birth she was taught to excel, to fight, to be better than anyone else. Such drive while fueling can just as easily be daunting when your future and your livelihood are staked on how much you can contribute.

From her young formative years, her family managed to eliminate quite a few potential career paths from her future. Just as every other Ametsuchi, Kanon’s lived her life under the eyes of her elders. Every potential skill, every potential interest was scrutinized and watched as they took sides with children they found promising. From early on Kanon was marked as “book dumb” and “wimpy” easily being outclassed by her cousins. Eventually, this would push her to the ninja academy.

While Kanon’s father, Akira, made it into the main branch that doesn’t mean Kanon has many in her corner, and in a family like the Ametsuchi who believes in you makes an impact. Her cousins that quickly showed promise or skill found the elder generation rallying around them offering up any manner of help. Yet for someone already labeled a fuck up? Kanon was just lucky Akira and her uncle, Naoki, were banking on her winning, especially since one of her earliest memories was her own mother writing her off as nothing more than branch material.

Kanon’s not one to give up though, she saw the lack of belief in her was just an insane irritation. She hit the ground running chasing after her two supporters with a fury trying to get anything she could out of them only to be denied every time. After all, if she couldn’t activate her own Kekkai Genkai without help then she wasn’t ready to get private tutoring. So while her cohort were all getting training in their fields, she hit the clan compound training daily until she could get control of the Ketsuejuki. After a solid year of training, she started to be able to properly use the Ketsuejuki which was more than her cousins could say.

What Naoki and Akira hadn’t mentioned was that they were simply doubling up her training. After all, activating the Ketsuejuki took control. Control that her cousins were also attempting to gain in different ways. Slowly, Naoki and Akira threw in a few new things to learn but for the most part, they were clear that mastery of one would come before training something new. Kanon naturally didn’t see the use in this as young as she was. So they did the one thing they knew they could do, point her to someone better.

In a Hidden Village filled to the brim with those with potential abound and the support behind them to thrive it wasn't hard to find a target. Soon she began to meet more and more people her own age that had already made leaps and bounds in outclassing her. In no time at all she had started to make strides. While her habit of declaring everyone and their mother her rival tended to leave her with little friends those who had shared her own love of competition became lifelong friends.

Which only made it all the more painful when her own stubbornness would cost them their chance at becoming chunin. Her argument with her teammate, Takahiro had escalated as the discussion of helping a fellow leaf ninja team came up in the survival round. Instead of having a clear consensus the team wasted too much time arguing, and worse yet Deki jumped in alone to aid the nearby team forcing team Hotarubi to go in blind. Before long they had been cornered. While both teams managed to fight off the allied Mist teams that had been ganging up on the nearby leaf team they soon found their qualifying items had been snatched by the losers as they fled.

Clan Info: The Ametsuchi are well known as a clan of hyper-specialized working-class citizens. They tend to do one thing each and do that one thing well, which makes them great for the social glue of Konoha as they are often masters willing to share the skills of their craft to any student with dedication.

”Hey what can I say? I’m a gambling man.”
Ryūji Ganbā

  • Team: <Unassigned>
Personality: Ryūji will only be described by those around him as a scumbag, swindler, gambling addict, perv, lazy bum and overall plague on society. A man who’s sole motivation is to experience all the pleasures that life has to offer from wine to women and gamble his way to wealth as his forefathers did.

However, that doesn’t take away from the fact that he is shrewd, able to readjust plans in a swift action and enact the best move on the board. Willing to lie, cheat, deceive, or manipulate his way to victory if he is interested in the reward. Though he does have a peculiar taste for katsu and a love for Koi fish, looking for lucky signs wherever he can find them.

“After all, what is life without a little risk? Come on, I’m feeling lucky today!”

    History:
Living with the Konoha branch of the Ganbā clan, Ryūji spent most of his childhood playing games, not just any games, gambling games. This was the common method of training for the Ganbā clan to teach kids to take calculated risk and probabilities in plans. Ryūji, while never the most physically fit specimen, would be a quick learner, developing a love of tricking opponents and winning the sweets of his fellow clansmen.

As he entered the academy his father, one of the clan leaders of Konoha’s Ganbā clan would start taking Ryūji training seriously, teaching him the family clans fuinjutsu and genjutsu. Though due to Ryūji’s laziness even as a small kid he was always scolded for not paying attention to the lessons. However, he always remembered one teaching “The Ganbā only take the path of fortune, nevermind the risk or method.” something he would take to heart.

Being from a fallen clan of the Hidden Hot Water, Ryūji’s overall lack of motivation, and strange habit of getting his fellow students into massive gambling debts, Ryūji was mostly ignored by the academy teachers. So Ryūji despite being able to place as one of the best students academically chose not to bother with it and only contributed the bare minimum to pass.

As a genin he was placed into a dump team, expected to flunk out of the secret exam. However, not willing to spend time in the reserve corps, Ryūji helped manipulate his teammates into working together to pass the exam. Their sensei, obviously pissed that he actually had to teach 3 supposedly untalented students, spent most of his time teaching the other two who had some motivation at least. So Ryūji started to do everything he would call “Life’s many indulgences!” going to his clan’s gambling den, betting and playing games, peeping on girls with some comrades, to being sent flying from set girls with a smile on his face, sleeping during missions. This earned him the nickname of “The Vile Gambling Genin” amongst his peers, but Ryūji paid no mind to them, at least until he was forced to participate in the chunin exams with his peers.

He pleaded his sensei to not make a rash decision, his two companions the idiots that they were professed that they would easily win the exams. Ryūji’s prayers went unanswered and he sulked his way to the exams. There however, he decided to actually put in effort since there was no point in just quitting an exam. During the 1st challenge of the exam Ryūji showed his shrewdness and cunning, managing to trick even some of the instructors about his methods. He even managed to somehow force his teammates to pass the 1st challenge which in of itself was a miracle. However, everything changed in the 2nd challenge.

Knowing that there was no way his team would win in any direct conflict Ryūji spent most of the 2nd challenge of the exams setting up traps and seals, causing massive amounts of property damage and the destruction of local ecosystems. This helped them survive the first few nights but due to his teammates walking into one of his bomb traps as he was setting it up, they blew up themselves to Nirvana and Ryūji right out of the exam after extensive healing. His final words before falling unconscious was “Really? It’s just not been my day these past week.”.

Clan Info: The Ganbā clan is known for having runned multiple casinos in the Land of Hot Water and being one of the main clans of the Village hidden in Hot Water before a conflict within the clan about the Village’s pursuit of peace caused the clan to wipe itself out. This left the few reminisces of the clan to travel to different hidden villages, starting up local gambling dens there.

Ren Ogumo

Wanna hold her? Don't worry, she won't bite unless we tell her to~!
Ren

  • Team: Miyu
Personality: Ren's never been one to stand out, often hanging in the back and observing as events play out. Seemingly invisible in most interactions, she's taken instead to learning what she can by listening in. "Mitsuri likes takoyaki. Toma is afraid of the dark. Sachiko's birthday is on the 7th, she likes bunnies." Little notes like these are usually jotted down in a small notebook. Unfortunately, most people tend to not like her eavesdropping when they find out - intended or not - and are even put off by the surprise gifts left for them.

When actually pulled into a conversation, Ren's surprisingly bubbly and cheerful if a bit awkward. She takes great pride in the spiders she raises, and can easily go into long spiels about each one and their personalities. It's not uncommon to find her talking to her spiders during downtime.

...Perhaps that's why people tend to stay away.

History: Fourth child of Akihito and Kaoru Ogumo, Ren's early life was nothing special. Not particularly gifted in any one area like her siblings, Ren grew accustomed to being in the background. Not that she minded. Ren loved nothing more than to hear stories from family members on their exploits as shinobi. Inspired by their stories and tales of legendary shinobi and their love for the Hidden Leaf, Ren wished to follow in their footsteps and continue aiding and protecting the village. A path she might've reconsidered had she been old enough to really recall the tailed beast's rampage and the destruction it caused to her clan. Distant flashes of burning eyes, massive fangs, and blood steeped fur occasionally creep into her dreams though.

A fairly average student across the board, the only thing the academy instructors took note of were her abilities in stealth. They and her later jounin sensei encouraged her to hone them. Protecting from the shadows didn't exactly match the tales of glory she longed to mimic and Ren initially balked at the idea. It took an unexpected run in with bandits to really drive home her combat abilities were . . . lacking. Ren eventually conceded that perhaps she could better protect her teammates hidden away in the shadows.

Time went on, more and more completed missions under their belt as the trio found their rhythm. Ren often scouting ahead or sneaking in for a surprise blow while her teammates kept their target's attention on them. Even if said target was often a runaway cat.

Ren and her teammates were surprised one morning by their sensei announcing he'd recommended them for the chuunin exams and that they'd be leaving the next morning. She argued, feeling they weren't entirely ready but vowed to get her teammates through. Ren's stealth proved invaluable in the first two stages of the exams, getting her teammates through in one piece.

    The finals, however . . .

Stealth is all well and good until your opponent nukes the arena in frustration. Ren woke up in the hospital to a masked man looming nearby. "Forget becoming a chuunin," he'd said, "you're going to be one of us from now on."

Clan Info: An offshoot of the Aburame clan that came about while experimenting with other insects to use in their Parasitic Insect Destruction techniques. Some have found lucrative work in making silk garments over active duty.

Rokuro Sekiyama

69407-1845668495.jpg

"Don't be a baby! It's not that much blood"
Rokuro Sekiyama

  • Team: <Unassigned>

Personality: Rokuro is a slightly disturbing combination of childishness and unrestrained violence.

He has an inherent playfulness in everything he does and at first glance comes off as a normal fun-loving boy right up until his work comes up, then he'll happily describe fighting and potentially killing as his favourite 'game' to play with a joyful disregard for the lives of his enemies while valuing comrades as playmates, if they aren't 'fun' to be around he doesn't care if they live or die.

If told to do anything that isn't his idea of fun for any length of time he will quickly become sullen and grumpy but is generally obedient if given a direct order.

While Rokuro is singleminded in his pursuit of his own amusement that doesn't make him entirely simpleminded when he puts his mind to it and he is able to read a fight quite well though that can also lead to him holding back to prolong the 'fun'.

History: Despite being born into a kind and unambitious family it was clear from the beginning Rokuro wasn't in for an easy ride, his clan's unique ability to assimilate ingested blood had mutated turning him into a rare freak of nature with enhanced abilities but also chronic anaemia requiring him to regularly top himself up with blood either by ingestion or transfusion.

During his earlier childhood Rokuro's family lived in the Land of Rain providing aid to the people of the frequently war-torn nation. While there a conflict unexpectedly flared up, the combination of disrupted supply chains and more wounded patients led to a shortage of the blood supplies Rokuro needed to survive, eventually his parents grew desperate enough to feed their son's needs directly until the situation settled enough for them to leave.

Back in the Hidden Leaf Rokuro expressed his interest in becoming a ninja rather than going into medicine like his parents. At the academy he was modestly successful though his disinterest in academic subjects and excessive violence in sparring matches were concerning to the instructors.

Upon being assigned to a genin team his 'creepy' attitude didn't endear him to his teammates and during the Chuunin Exams his desire to go in search of a good fight led to multiple fatalities as well as the failure of his team to advance through the exam.

Clan Info: The Sekiyama are a little regarded clan of only a few families most notable for their skill as doctors that use their abilities to diagnose conditions through analysing blood samples for unbalanced chakra signatures.

Natsume Uchiha

Natsumecolor.png

I'll just... be over here if you -ahh forget it.
Natsume

  • Team: Taisei
Personality: At first brush Natsume seems apathetic and disinterested in the people and events around her, she stops just short of being outright rude about it most of the time, but overall gives off the air of someone with few passions or deeply held convictions driving her in any particular direction. Occasionally Natsume might let loose a spike of bitter cynicism that hints at deeper and darker emotions but for the most part she seems content to coast along through life.

This air of dispassion is in fact a carefully mask. Natsume is secretly desperate for recognition and accolades but she has been stung too many by coming up short of the dizzying heights needed to stand out among her elite clanmates. In private Natsume throws herself into training, studying and preparing, secretly dreaming that this new technique or this new bit of theory will be the missing puzzle piece to finally catapult her from being merely competent to someone worth the attention of her clan. So far none of Natsume's fixations have done the trick and she nurses both a bitter outlook on the world at large and a fair bit of self loathing as a result.

History: The idea of an average Uchiha seems like an oxymoron to some people. With the fearsome powers of the sharingan and their overall excellence in ninjutsu, taijutsu and genjutsu how could someone be anything over than awe inspiring? The truth is though that in a group of elites excellent becomes expected and merely being good becomes a kind of failure. Natsume was always a little better than good but she was never truly excellent either.

The fourth daughter of a man who was himself a sixth son, Natsume had to fight for her slice of the spotlight from day one and she was always a little outgunned in that fight. No matter what her grades were at the academy or what new technique Natsume taught herself it was never quite enough to earn the admiration of the Clan elders or even her busy parents. Some other Uchiha was always soaring to new heights or breaking new ground and Natsume's respectable achievements were just never quite enough. Natsume never sunk to the level of disappointing anyone or reflecting badly on the clan, in a way that almost would have been preferable. Instead Natsume merely existed, just another Uchiha standing in the background behind the rising stars and legends of the clan. Natsume's efforts to stand out went unrewarded enough to start to take the winds out her sail, she never really gave up trying but she started to hide her efforts, embarrassed to show how much effort it took her just to keep up with the pack around her. Natsume became withdrawn, seemingly apathetic even as she privately pushed herself harder and harder for some kind of results.

This outward attitude did not endear Natsume to her teammates. To them it seemed like the Uchiha girl was merely coasting on her talent and genetics while they were working hard. Even as the team racked up completed missions and they grew individually stronger the tension between them grew and their shallow bonds began to rot. Eventually The team was strong enough on paper to handle the chunin exams and their Sensei hoped the pressure would push them closer together so he gave his recommendation, but instead of bringing them closer together the exam shattered the fledgling team entirely. Natsume's varied skillset should have allowed her to cover the weaknesses of her more specialized teammates but their communication broke down and they were picked off one by one during the survival portion of the exam.

Clan Info: The Uchiha are...well, the Uchiha. Integral to both the founding and the future of the village but also considered a threat to its stability, they are something of a double edged blade for the rest of the village. Often the clan are given dangerous duties that are undeniably important but keep them at an arms length from the true seats of power and hamper their ability to ally or politick with the rest of the great clans.

Emiko Senju
r61J7b1.jpg

Even the greatest fumble, it's all about improving yourself and never giving... hey... HEY! Are you listening to me?
Emiko

  • Team: Team Kazuo
Personality: Emiko to be rather social and friendly. She is quite inquisitive when it comes to observing others attempting to get an idea about those she encounters taking notes about the way they are. She is very much focused around improving herself, wanting to show she is more then capable to others. She tends to put higher expectations on herself over others, willing to accept she might stumble along the way though she is devoted in improving herself along the way. She enjoys spending time around others, being wiling to stick her neck out for someone who she thinks might be a bit too stubborn or shy to admit it. That said, her friendliness has a limit, something that can be quickly reached by someone who she sees as being malicious or having less then pure intentions.

Emiko has a rather short temper. She does her best to control it, often trying to talk herself down and cool her head. Her frustration can spark up as well when she attempts to do tasks she personally feels she should be capable of but keeps struggling to complete. As much as she attempts to practice self control she can eventually come to a boiling point where she might explode being quick to lash out at whoever or whatever might be the cause. It is a trait she finds rather embarrassed about, often being quite meek in apologizing after even being a bit snappy still when she attempts to do so. Emiko has a deep seeded feeling as if she doesn't belong. At one point just a lingering thought that managed to grow over the years in part do to her Kekkei Genkai.

History: Born the daughter of Kumiko Senju and a shinobi named Jurou. Her father having been an orphan had managed to rise through the ranks as a Shinobi making a name for himself which in part is how he managed to meet Kumiko through sheer chance, eventually dating and marrying each other several years later and being accepted into the clan. Emiko grew up with a relatively simple life given she was part of the Senju clan. She had heard many stories of the great things achieved by their ancestors of the Senju clan, something her mother held some pride in despite never having become a full fledge shinobi. It was those stories combined with her fathers drawing her into the idea of being a ninja learning about his struggle as an orphan starting as nobody and managing to make his way to a Jonin that garnished respect.

Entering into the academy she had shown she was quite capable. While not seemingly naturally gifted like some, if there was one thing she had for her was her desire to improve. As her time in the academy went on she showed herself capable improving along the way going from an about average student to scoring incredibly well in her tests. While faltering in certain areas she did her best to improve and make sure what she was strongest at was made even better getting her that recognition in the least bit. Anything she didn't understand she would work hard to get... even if much to her embarrassment today she might of got into little fits of rage about it at the time.

Being a member of the Senju clan, it was only natural for it to be seen if she possessed the clans Kekkei Genkai. A rather renown gift to have, Emiko felt a bit disappointed she didn't possess it. Still, it wasn't something that didn't bog her down too much, after all her father had become a great shinobi without having such an ability. What had not been expected was when she realized she had the ability to control earth, making its a malleable mud like substance. It wasn't something possessed by her father with the only seeming explanation of it being of it being a lesser manifestation of the Senju Clans Kekkei Genkai. An ability she felt both blessed to have, though at the same time creating a feeling as if she didn't belong. A strange feeling she had tried to brush asside yet only built up over the years.

By the time graduation came, she was in the upper end of her class showing great promise. Becoming a Genin and becoming part of a team it was the first step to become a renown Shinobi... first steps were always the roughest. While Emiko was always one who knew she had room for improvement, she had enough self confidence to think she was more then ready. Her sensei had been rather swift to whip her into shape proving themselves as a group not as ready as they thought they were. Plenty of training and squad building later, they went from fresh genin into at least decently competent ninja. Many missions and further training later they were ready to hit the Chunin exams.

The test itself was as rough as they expected. The survival round her team managed to pass, in part due to her own clever thinking and some clever teamwork managing to slip there way through. A rather strong showing even if luck was likely a factor. Unfortunately for Emiko her luck had dried out and with it the worst luck possible. She ended up in a preliminary match being pitted up against one of the most promising Genin. Despite all her efforts and strategy, her opponent was able to overcome any plan she came up with with the use of mostly his brawn and add insult to injury manage to outwit her as if to further shame her at his lossusing her own tactic against her to knock her out. She had expected she wouldn't get bar but to be taken out of the first match... it was a harsh pill to swallow.

Having to lick her wounds knowing she hadn't been given a chance to even show she was capable or had any promise behind her. Was she just over her head that someone could be so much more talented then her? That was when 'they' appeared... and a new door was opened...

Clan Info: A member of the Senju clan by way of her mother.

    - Flash Bang | Field nickname given to him for his use of Genjutsu in often targeting the senses of his opponents in a manner that disorients and befuddles them during combat.

    Age: 16

    D.O.B: May 13

    Gender: M

    H | W:5'7 | 145 LBS

    Eye Color: Red

Considered Allies: Leaf, Kishi, Nara, Amegakure, Aburame, Inuzuka

Country of Birth: Land of Rain

    Team: Unknown

Clan: The Kishi Clan, are an old major clan that lost severe numbers in the Second Shinobi War and originated from the Land of Whirlpools like the Uzumaki. Based in the Land of Rain, and nothing more than refugees living within the Leaf, the Kishi Clan's fame stems from the First Shinobi War and their alliance with the Hidden Leaf clans during those conflicts. The source of their fame stems from their use of Genjutsu along with their KG Nature of Ash and Smoke. While not based in the Hidden Leaf, few members of the clan moved to the Hidden Leaf due to the Land of Rain's political conflict and state of disarray, and since Eiichi's arrival, 1/5th of its clan members, a total of fifteen, work as Shinobi in the Hidden Leaf, while the rest of the clan remains in the Land of Rain, working in politics against antagonists within the country. It is the smallest clan within the Leaf Village, maxing at a number of thirty, and has close relations with the Nara Clan due to its history of working closely with them in the First, Second, and Third Shinobi wars and as result lives within the same area as them.

Umeko Hakamori
1648701516677.png
There's only one me.
Umeko

  • Team: <Kazuo>
Personality: Always amused with a slight smile on her face, Umeko seems to be perpetually happy, even as the world shatters around her. Her facial expression never changes, no matter what the situation. What she actually is feeling is difficult for even those near to her to guess. Umeko tends to help out without saying a word, only leaving when the conversation turns to about her. The only time her smile does crack is when people turn the conversation about her.

Umeko's smile, however, turns creepy when the work turns macabre. It was a point of discontent in her previous team, as during the survival part, when others were freaking out, she merely hummed.

Umeko doesn't talk too much, but is always active and doing things. She tends to get bored fairly easily, and has a serious case of "Attention deficit "ooh, shiney!"". It's rare Umeko ISN'T working on something behind the scenes.

History: Born to the Hakamori clan, the gravetenders to the Leaf, it was ironic that her parents should end up in the same graveyard they tended. When a tailed beast broke free and rampaged through the village, her parents stood their ground, and actually managed to deter the beast with their sheer tenacity, leaving a crying Ukemo as they both ran out of chakra. The amazing part was that neither one were renown, but their resolve was for the dead to rest and be respected. Everyone told Umeko how blessed she was to have parents that brave. She didn't feel blessed... But nodded to the 'praise'.

Her relatives took her in, and told her to visit her parents 'often'. So, Umeko did, studying near the graves, eating by it, and hanging out more than any normal child should have. She wanted to know what being blessed to have brave parents was. If she was a good kid, maybe she would be blessed...

Other students in the academy found Umeko creepy, and she had difficulty making friends. It was alright, though, Umeko was herself, and she was 'blessed'. Who needed friends.

Neither of her teammates were particularly fond of her either as genin. When their sensei terrorized them to see how they responded to fear, Umeko could only gently smile, even as the other two coward. She did feel a twinge of fear, but her parents were brave, so too would she be. Their sensei didn't know what to make of Umeko. She wasn't powerful, but she did have a talent in genjutsu and seals. Asked how she had acquired those skills, she merely cocked her head and said "the dead only rest with peace, right?"

During the chunnin exams, Umeko and her team struggled during the survival portion. Umeko's genjutsu and bindings had made it so they had captured a second scroll, but the actual survival was getting to her team. No one trusted Umeko, and the stress ran high. Umeko was barely shrugging off a complaint about supplies running out when she heard a nearby team. She used a few illusions, and managed to catch one of them.

But an illusion from the enemies caused her teammates to attack Umeko. She tried fending them off, but without any close quarter skills, she found herself impaled. Her teammates were quickly defeated, but only Umeko was really hurt.

For the first time, her mask cracked at the frustration at her teammates. It wasn't the enemy she blamed, but her team for not trusting her. Afraid they were still tricked, she crawled away, bleeding from them. A faint, frown on her face.

As she lay wounded, hand over the impaling blade on her stomach, a masked man appeared, ANBU. He... obviously was not a chunnin candidate.

"Your skills are being wasted here. We could use your talents. Would you like to disappear...?"

Umeko looked back to where her team had been, to see a single flare fired into the sky, a signal they had quit, and were asking for extraction without her. With a single tear going down her eye, she turned to the ANBU man and smiled, nodding.

Clan Info: The Hakamori clan tend to the largest graveyard in the leaf, keeping it clean, burning incense for the dead. They have a house in the middle of the graveyard that looks haunted at all times, a strange mist even keeping it dark during the day, but it's just 'part of the charm'. On the bright side, no one hosts a halloween party like the Hakamori... though they insist guests do not wander into the graveyard. A habit of casting genjutsu to scare the hell out of hooligans has made stories of the haunted graveyard spread far and wide. The graveyard is respected... one way or another.

What? You think you're better than me? How cute.
Nariko Nakamura

  • Nickname: The Lightning Wolf | Field nickname given due to her animalistic approach to fighting and her use of lightning.

    Age: 16

    D.O.B.: March 23

    Gender: Female

    H | W: 5'04" (162.6 cm) | 175 lbs (79.4 kg)

    Eye Color: Blue

    Hair Color: Blonde

Country of Birth: Land of Fire

    Team: Taisei

Appearance: Muscle-bound due to training her body for years, she only got where she was due to her perseverance and hard work. While she was born with gifts, she's far better at taijutsu than she is at using the natural gift given to her. What she looks like is covered in the picture.

Personality: Competitive, spunky, and tough, this young woman takes life and all its challenges with a smile. She is rather optimistic, but there isn't that much room for her sweetness as she lacks tact through her more lonely life. This has also caused her to not read the room properly, or that of her allies unless they are incredibly blunt, making her socially lacking. When she's on a mission, all that melts away as she focuses on the objective and making sure her partners are alive. However, she will do just about anything to finish the mission, even if it means going in by herself. Headstrong, she won't take no for an answer, and her obstinate stubbornness has led to her picking fights with those who she thinks deem her as weak. She is honor-bound to her friends, but knows there isn't much honor to be had with her enemies. While she will give mercies when it's needed, she mostly leaves it up her comrades, as she has no morals - or at least not much she follows within a mission. She's learned the hard way that people don't like it when she ends up torturing someone for information, so she's learned to step back and let other people do the job for her, so as to not incur the wrath and concern of others.

Why are they getting upset for her behavior when it's for the mission anyway? It's all business, and even the rules say to leave emotions out of it. Did they think she lost her humanity?

Maybe. If someone tells her no, she will obey.

While she's quite hard and rough, she does have a soft side, finding herself feeling more like an Inuzuka with her love for dogs and wolves and feeling like she's got some connection with the wolves. This is the only time anyone gets to see her soft, gentle side. Due to her connection with the wolf, she tends to growl when upset or trying to be threatening.

Clan Info: Nariko's clan, the Nakamura clan, are known as swords for hires back in the olden days. They were bought in as military might to help turn the tide of war, and while they may take the highest bidder's money, they were commonly known for siding with those who share ideals similar to their own. That happened to be Konohagakure, as they found themselves serving under their symbol and banner for a combination of a couple wars. They are not a new, yet not an old addition to the clans of Konoha, as 80% of them have joined Konoha while the remaining 20% are individualistic or are in other villages based on their ideals. Most who were not aligned with a village and haven't been taught the ways of the shinobi are more commonly samurai or mercenaries. Those who are aligned with a village commonly become shinobi talented in the art of taijutsu.

The Nakamura clan uphold their honor in the way of the sword, specific techniques being taught to the next generation to any who want to learn. They deal with speed and confounding your foes before killing them with ease. As for their taijutsu training, they have the Fang Fist Style, which differ from their mechanical use from the other two more notable fist styles by targeting the muscle groups rather than smashing bone or hitting tenketsu. They are an honor-bound clan, whose core values have bled into the way they view how others use weapons, particularly the sword. They start their generation of Nakamura clan members using a bo-staff, a kendo stick or two, or the nunchaku. They must achieve chunin rank or a level of mastery using these weapons before they are given a sword of their own. Those who were brought up in this clan may look down on those who have swords or tanto, but were never put through years of training of tool use and taijutsu to learn how to use it properly. Their animal that they seem affiliated with mostly - and appear in their memorabilia - are wolves, known for their loyalty, honor, savagery in battle, and intelligence.

History: Nariko was born to a Konoha civilian mother and that of a father of the Nakamura clan. Her older brother of three years absolutely loved her and basically did most of the training and playing while their father gave a direction and instilled pride and honor within Nariko. As Nariko grew older, she soon found herself marrying herself to her training. So much so even that she began picking fights with other students within the academy, and losing her friends as she focused more on her personal growth than that of her friendships. She soon quickly lost touch with people, but the pride her father instilled in her and the optimism she copied from her mother made her think that nothing was wrong. She just wanted to do her own thing.

The pride not only caused her to think she was better than others due to her constant training, but anyone better than her made her feel like shit and she would push herself even further, even challenging them to see how far she needed to go. Her competitive nature was both an endearing, yet annoying facet to her. However, as she was given a team to work with as a genin, she gave socializing a chance and began making friends with her teammates. However, that quickly changed as they had a chance at the chunin exams.

Of course, she didn't think she was ready. She decided to wait for a while, forcing her team to not only grow resentful of her as she waited too long, but feeling like she was looking down on them. Despite the parts of her they found endearing, they found that she would make herself the impromptu leader without asking for it. Even on missions, she seemed to be the one going headlong into dangerous situations, becoming the distraction and getting herself hurt for the "betterment of the mission". It seemed that she would do anything on a mission to make sure they followed through to the end, even going so far as to torture someone for information, something they put a stop to immediately. The only good thing they saw throughout all this that she would protect her teammates with her life it seemed, which only gave more concern. Her brash behavior and headstrong nature made her hard to get along with and soon, as Nariko was sixteen, she finally allowed her full team to try the chunin exams.

However, no matter what kind of prep work they had done for those years, Nariko's team had gotten lost from a genjutsu trick and subsequently lost. The Forest of Death had caused a mishap, as the dangerous animals dropped Nariko's teammates. While they were largely okay, Nariko struggled to comprehend what was going on, yet still stayed resolute by her partners to make sure they were okay. They were supposed to head back, but she ended up losing consciousness.

As Nariko woke up, she realized she wasn't in the hospital, but a cot somewhere with a masked man watching her from a dark corner of the room. Before she asked, she was told that her life before will not matter anymore, and that she was to be recruited for the ANBU.

She didn't know if she should be terrified or excited.

If they could see me now, would they be proud?
Hisa

  • Team: <Unassigned>
Personality: Hisa has always been a calm and patient individual. No matter how long something takes, Hisa has always been able to wait with no issue. Even as a child she would rarely throw tantrums for any reason whatsoever. If she ever had an issue, she would deal with it herself or ask her parents to assist her. Sometimes Hisa is so patient that she comes off as lazy. In reality, she tries to know all about something before she actually does it. She doesn't like mystery, and likes to plan out everything she does in life. She enjoys sweets a lot, and if not for being forced into the ninja lifestyle she'd probably never hurt a fly. Nowadays, Hisa hasn't lost her relaxed unfazed demeanor. It's just that now she has many more methods of dealing with her problems, and none are off limits. The only topic that can get a reaction out of her is her clan, and her father.

History: Hisa never wanted to be a ninja, but it never seemed to be her destiny to live a peaceful life. By being born into the branch house of the Hyuga Clan, Hisa's fate was already sealed. She was to live, and to die for the main house, whether she wanted to or not. Her mother was never in her life, something her father rarely spoke about. She received little attention from her father outside of her training. Unfortunately, Hisa showed little talent for the gentle fist, and her byakugan appeared far later than others her age. Not only that, Hisa was extremely lazy as well. It disappointed her father more than anyone, as the entire clan expected her to be an excellent member of the clan. Her father worked directly under the head of clan, and was an amazing shinobi in his own right. However, he expected his children to surpass him one day, and Hisa showed no signs of doing so. It wasn't long before she received her cursed seal, and she learned just how painful disobedience could be. Neglected and confused, Hisa tried to figure out how to win back the love of her clan.

Hisa knew her father cared deeply for the head of the clan. She was aware he would give his life for him at a moment's notice. What she didn't know is if he would do the same for her. What did the clan head have that she didn't? Well for starters, he was legendary. Putting curse marks on targets through the use of the gentle fist was extremely advanced, and it was enough to strike fear into many shinobi, friend or foe. He was powerful, and he used that power for the sake of his clan. Hell, he had become the head of the clan despite being apart of the branch house. If that was what it took to earn her clan's respect, then Hisa would do just that.

As a genin, Hisa began to create her own style of the gentle fist. Instead of blocking chakra pathways or putting curse marks on her targets, the victims are afflicted by the genjutsu of her choosing. While Hisa didn't find much use for it as a genin, but in her free time Hisa refined the art. She eventually named it the 'Hisa Fist', in hopes that it might catch on one day. When the chuunin exams finally came around, Hisa was absolutely terrified. Sure if she failed she could always try again, but it'd be exactly what everyone in her clan expected of her. Hisa and her clan passed the first two stages of the exam with ease. The byakugan helped the group know exactly what was coming for them at all times. However, when the final round of the tournament came around, Hisa found herself pushed to her absolute limit.

Her final fight was against another hyuga. The boy was younger than her by two whole years, but they were both faster and stronger. What made things worse was that he was from the main house, and made sure to remind Hisa of his house's superiority throughout the fight. The fight between the two lasted for only a few minutes, but Hisa couldn't land a single hit on him. Her low stamina was exposed before she was overwhelmed and knocked unconscious in front of all of her peers. The next time she awoke, she was in a hospital bed and could still barely move. Hisa was devasted, never wanting to show her face to her clan again. Her father entered the room, sitting on the bed beside her. He avoided eye contact with her, as he told her to give up on being a ninja, and to focus on staying healthy until he found a suitable husband for her. He didn't wait for a response before leaving. Minutes later, A masked man stepped out from a dark corner of the room and gave her a chance to escape the scrutiny of her clan, and protect them in a different way. Hisa, struggling to hold back her tears, accepted.
