Konohagakure.

It's been almost 20 years since the Second Shinobi Worl, and there seems to be peace. Although that's only what it seems like. To the general public, the Leaf is stable but to high officials and powerful political heads it's slowly beginning to crumble. Tensions are thick and rising, although now between the 5 great nations and it's surrounding smaller nations. And as such the rigor that academy students are put through has grown more and more in an attempt to train young upcoming shinobi in the art of combat and killing to aid in their future endeavors. Although something much darker seems to be happening. The Hokage has been acting rather strange recently, sending shinobi on rather unorthodox missions. And people are beginning to wonder if he can effectively perform his role as Hokage.

Chapter One.

The forest surrounding the village hidden in the leaves wasn't a place many people frequently visited. There was the occasional student trying to get some additional training, a shinobi out on patrol, and then there was a particular young woman. Usagi Meitoku made her way through the forest, leaping her way through the trees like an animal. Her jet-black hair tossed in the wind as sunbeams that pierced the forest's canopy made each strand glitter like a wave upon an ebony ocean. Deeper and deeper into the woods she flew, her steps through the tree branches as surefooted as if she were walking. Eventually, Usagi stopped at a clearing by a gently flowing river. She knelt down on the bank and cupped her hands together, scooping up a handful of the crystal clear water. Eagerly, Usagi gulped it down, enjoying the chill of the cool liquid as it traveled down her throat. Standing to her feet, Usagi turned and walked a few steps away from the river's edge and drew her sword. The shimmering metal of the perfectly maintained blade bounced the sunlight off the blade making it shine. Usagi closed her eyes and let out a deep breath. She raised the blade above her head and brought it down with a confident "HYUP!" This river bank was a place Usagi often came to practice her swordplay. The calm serenity of the river put her mind at ease and distracted her from the thoughts of school and the village. This was her little escape from reality.

It was hard for Ren to find any kind of peace or solitude in town when he wanted to practice. His parents’ home was on top of a fairly popular (and therefore busy) restaurant, and his baby sister was almost guaranteed to start crying at some point. She was cute, but she was also a screamer and the sound of her voice made him want to gouge his eardrums out when she got really bad. And of course the academy was out. There was always some nonsense or other going on there, and he would inevitably be bothered by teachers and other students, messing with his concentration. Even the park was out. That just meant having to deal with other people, which was really no better.

Fortunately, however, there was one choice available.

The forest surrounding Konohagakure was somewhat dangerous. Wild animals, beasts changed by magic, and the occasional minor demon were all concerns, making it an unchancy place for normal people. Ninjas weren’t normal people, though, not even the rankest beginners. Threads of chakra stretched from Ren’s hands to wrap around branches and trunks as he leapt and swung his way through the treetops, the greenery around him passing in a blur as he laughed at the sheer fun of it. He had heard that most people who mastered the threads used them to control puppets and the like, but that seemed like a waste of potential to him. The threads were awesome in and of themselves.

He spotted a nice little clearing by one of the many large streams that ran through the woods, peaceful and remote. The waters looked darned cold, but that was fine. He wasn’t there for a swim. He was there to practice.

Landing, he took off the black box he had strapped to his back and set it on a convenient rock. Then he took a minute to clear out all the little sticks and stone in the area, creating a practice space. It wouldn’t do to stupidly hurt himself by tripping over something, after all. Another minute was spent divesting himself of the various shuriken and kunai he always carried these days, tools of the trade, and focusing himself with a bit of meditation.

Then he pressed play on the box, and the sounds of drums shattered the serenity of the woods as he began to dance.

Jira sighed happily patting her extended stomach, she had just finished a very large meal. There were plates stacked up high on the table. She was stuffed, could not eat another bite or more aptly she shouldn't, clothes seem like they could barely contain her after the feast. She grabbed a nearby waiter and started to order another serving. Ikamu growled at her disapprovingly, she already knew she shouldn't pushed it and honestly didn't feel like getting judged by her own family. "Hey, don't give me that, I didn't see you complaining when I got you those stakes!" Ikamu stood up on the booth growling at her and bared his teeth. "On you would bring that up!" He was pushing his luck and she want going to stand for it. She stood up, accidently pushed the whole booth back in the proses. The two of them started baking at each other. "Oh don't you take that tone with me!" They were so distracted by their own argument they didn't notice how loud they were getting.

"M-Ma'am...Ma'am... M-m-ma'am?" The waitress finally spoke up, the two of them were causing a commotion, and frankly she was frightened. Jira blushed a deep red, her and Ikamu looked sheepish. She felt awful, she hated when this happened. She just can't help it sometimes her anger gets the best of her. The two of them sat down and shut right up.

She laughed awkwardly rubbing the back of her head. "Sorry about that, we will head out." She was about to get to before she remembered her order. "Um, could we get that order to go?" Ikamu just gave Jira a look, she quickly pointed at him. "Don't you start with me again." She was not about to start back arguing, especially after the scene she already made, she just wanted to aloe a point. Quickly she looked back to the waiter giving a kind smile.

It took little time for her to be given her food. "Oh thank you, and again sorry for the trouble." She grateful took her to go box and placed it inside of her large purse. She paid her bill and headed out of the restraint.

She knelt down taking Ikamu's head in between her hands, rubbing him gently and giving him scratches behind the ear just the way he liked it. "Alright I'm sorry for yelling at you." She could be a hot headed sometimes, but she always meant well. He licked at her face lovingly. She pushed his face away from her laughing. "Don't get all mushy on me!" She hopped up to her feet and started to do some stretches, some toe touches, a few lunges, and twisted her sides form side to side, and ended it by clapping her hands.

"Let's go." The two of them vanished only bringing a large gust of wind following them. They jumped from building to building at incredible speeds. She had to be careful how much force she pushed off with, so that she wouldn't accidentally breakfast any of the roofs. At the speed they were moving it didn't take long for them to get to get to the training grounds. This was the place where she would get to meet her students for the first time, each of them had been given instructions to meet her here. She made sure to get there an hour early as to not keep them waiting in case they got there early.

She reached into her purse and pulled out a protein bare. She knew that Ikamu was gonna judge her again so she predictive said "Don't you dare, I don't even want to hear your face right now." She lied back in the grass and looks up into the sky as she snacks on the bar. She was just so happy right now, she was giddy she was going to finally meet her students. She already loved them like they are her own children. She quickly looked through her purse checking to make sure she has all her supplies she will need, sure enough they are all there. She shook, she is just too excited and has too much excess energy.

She hopped up, bouncing up and down, unable to hold it in any longer. "Alright Ikamu let's do some training, I can't just sit here." Ikamu barks in agreement, he was just as excited to meet everyone as she was, if not more. So he was absolutely up for a little training. She made the tiger seal and in a puff of smoke Ikamu transformed into Jira, this allowed them to fight hand to hand. The two of them vanish once more moving faster than the human eye can see. The only indication of their presence was the resonating sound of each time they clashed.

Chiruka Hideki
Sucking in a nervous breath through chattering teeth, Ruka tightens his grip on his green jacket . Keeping his Navy eyes low and to the floor as he stepped out of his brand new apartment and headed for the training grounds. A thick lump began to form in his already tight throat because
I did it! I-I I’m a Genin!’ ‘ and the heavy weight of the navy blue head band around his waist proved it; reminded him that
this was all REAL
And he was that much closer to reaching his goal. Ruka struggles to hold in the nervous filled intent that begged to leak into the air. He really couldn’t afford to be late to meeting his Sensei. And he gave just an inch of the bundle of worry and nervous that were fretting inside him, well it would be like sharks smelling blood. He didn’t need another tapestry of black and blue across his body again.
‘But they’ll see I’m worth more soon! ‘
Chiruka unconsciously pulled his bottom lip between his teeth, his blue eyes cast low and his pace increasing down the hidden pathways to the training grounds.
‘They’ll see...I’ll be good enough.’

Takeshi Arikawa - The First Day
TheMADQ TheMADQ

The day started early for Takeshi Arikawa this time around. He would meet his Sensei for the first time in the next three hours, so ensuring perfection was crucial on his part. Takeshi was from the Arikawa Clan, a clan banished from the Sand for their treachery against the Kazekage and his institutions. As the clan dispersed to different nations in search of amnesty, Takeshi’s family took refuge in the Leaf - taking a vow to protect the nation against any enemy forces, including the Sand. Takeshi understood that his family’s future relied on his performance this day - proving his worth to the Hidden Leaf would force his clan’s acceptance amongst other Shinobi.

A faint knock came at Takeshi’s door. Slowly it slid open, his father peeking in to see Takeshi checking his inventory list for a tenth time. “Do you have everything you need son?” His father Haruki asked.

“Yes sir, everything is ready,” Takeshi responded respectfully, a look of uncertainty in his face.

“Then why the long face son?”

Takeshi looked up towards his father, pushing himself off the canvas so he can measure up and express his concern with confidence. “Do you really think they’ll accept us after this? Even if I become a strong Shinobi, they’ll hate us!” Takeshi stated, eyes quickly darting towards the floor when he realized how loud he’d gotten. His eyes brewed with frustration, memories of the Leaf’s unwillingness to accept him and his family clouding his thoughts.

Suddenly, his father’s warm hand gently pressed against his shoulder - easing his anxiousness. Takeshi raised his eyes out of respect. “Before, all we wanted was to be a part of this village and our gateway to achieving so was through you. We knew you’d become a fine Shinobi one day and be respected amongst all nations, including the Leaf. That would bring our family name the respect it deserved. But, im watching you come home everyday after school with a frown on your face, or dried tears down your cheeks and well......things changed son. We don’t care about our acceptance anymore, all we want is for you to be happy. Become the strongest Shinobi for you! Become the best puppeteer in the world for you!!!”

Takeshi’s eyes lit up, jaw dropping simultaneously as a sense of relief filled his soul - a feeling he seemingly forgot existed. His eyes watered, but his manhood prevented tears from flowing. His father’s words meant the world to him - he just wished he knew how to express himself accordingly. He took a deep breath and exhaled through his mouth. Nodding he pulled away from his father, a look of determination covering what was once fear.

“I got this.”

_____________________________________________

Walking the trails towards the training grounds, Takeshi felt at peace. The forest - despite it being known for some very detestful creatures - was primarily peaceful, beautiful and full of life. The sun always shined on it just the right way, casting a heavenly glow and this day was no different. Takeshi’s eyes roamed the scenery, taking it all in as he prepared for the most important day of his life. His father’s short speech echoing through his head like a beating drum. “This is for me,” he would repeat.

Abruptly, his thoughts were disterbuded by what one could only assume was the clashing of kunai in the distance. His heart pounded in his chest rapidly, was he late? Had they already started training? He looked up at the sun, he was an hour early! What was going on?!

Swiftly he picked up his pace, running full speed towards the sounds. He felt faster today, possibly due to his determination to succeed. He rushed through the forest, leaving the trail and taking a shortcut. “Dammit, I knew I should have gotten here two hours early!” He cursed, closings in on the sound. He felt himself reach for his own weapon - a reaction taught to him in the academy.

“Here, it’s right up head!” He thought to himself as he brushed through the final bush and entered the batteries. His feet raised the dirt as he stopped his momentum unexpectedly. “What the-“ He gasped questionably, unable to keep up with the motions that took place before him. He could see clashing, but whomever was fighting were moving at such speed that his eyes could not keep track - it was unbelievable.

“Who are you?”

Ren's alarm went off way too soon. Panting a little from exertion, he stopped and killed the music as he checked his watch. The first day of school was about to start in just ten minutes, meaning it was time to pack it in and head to the training grounds. He sighed and wiped his brow, having worked up a real sweat dancing. He wasn't really looking forward to this. Still, it had to be done, didn't it.

That's what he kept telling himself, anyway.

He cast a quick little jutsu he had learned that cleaned him instantly, making him grin for just a second. He had to admit that there were a few compensations for having to be a ninja, and not having to bathe was one of them. It saved so much time, especially since he usually had to clean up multiple times a day thanks to dance practice and gym. When his teacher had shown him that particular jutsu, a minor thing to most but absolutely amazing to Ren, he had practically fallen over himself in his excitement. His friends Himiko and Sanyu had been so jealous.

The smile faded slightly as he thought about those two. They'd be starting class in a few minutes, too. Only they'd be starting normal classes in a normal school, unlike Ren. The three of them been best friends for years and had always had classes together. Not anymore, though. That had been taken from him the moment it was discovered that he had ninja potential. No more dance classes, either. NInjas apparently didn't concern themselves with things like that. If he wanted to keep studying he'd have to do it on his own time.

He sighed again, grabbed up his radio and bag and slung them both on his back. This crap had better be worth it he thought as he flashed away. The world turned into a blur as he sped through the trees and headed towards the academy, not nearly as enthused as he could have been at the thought of what lay ahead.

Man...

Location
training grounds

Tokiwa had woken up long before the sun, the nervous energy building in her muscles and mind until she couldn't lay still anymore. To pass the time until she had to leave for the training grounds, the orphan had busied herself with a bit of spontaneous spring-cleaning, with what little there was to clean. Although she'd been living for nearly two months in the dinky, two-room flat, Tokiwa had yet to feel quite at home here as of yet.

She knew part of it was that she still hadn't adjusted to living outside the orphanage, regardless of all the negative memories she associated with the place. It also probably had a lot to do with the fact that the only furnishings in the apartment were those the previous owner had bought. But it wasn't like Toki could really afford any furniture at this point, her allowance only really covered rent and the occasional meal.

Determinedly dusting a flamboyantly pink flamingo vase - another rejected fixing of the old owner's that was beginning to grow on her - Tokiwa mopped at her forehead with the back of her hand exhaustedly. Her eyes drifted to where the clock leaned against the bookcase. Nervous emotions fell away; smiling grimly, Tokiwa headed to her room to get ready. It was time, after all.

❆❆❆

Tokiwa speed-walked along the path to the training grounds. She'd packed light - the heaviest thing she was carrying was her breakfast, a slightly bruised apple. Tokiwa ate it as she walked, only pausing to chuck the apple core into a nearby bush. She was watching the core sink into the deep forest undergrowth when an unfamiliar sound up ahead slid her into a defensive position. Her heart racing with the excitement, the adrenaline of the moment; Tokiwa begin to run towards the peculiar sound.

When she'd reached it the girl paused to survey the scene from behind a tree - a blur of movement that suspiciously resembled a clash; a braver boy Toki faintly recognized from her academy days asking the question playing through her mind. Wait - wasn't that Takeshi Arikawa, her teammate?

Tokiwa slid into the space beside him, offering the boy an acknowledging nod before she eyed the swiftly moving person she wanted to assume was their sensei. Just in case though - Tokiwa turned to Takeshi, whispered -

"If it tries to come at us you run left I'll run right, it'll make it easier for at least one of us to get away, kay?"

Though he was experienced, a veteran ninja of four decades, one thing Asai would need to learn was how to teach the young, and today would be his first day of practical training. His job? To observe, to take notes on how to train Genin and to provide guidance if asked by the Jonin teachers. All the while, between the three directives, he would train as he always did in the early morning, waking still slumbering cells, activating his metabolism, igniting his old engine, loosening the joints, sparking the flow of chakra through each center of chi.

Sitting on a log at the edge of the field, Asai withdrew an outdated, utilitarian, steel lunch pale from his pack, it's hinges singing with decay as he opened the squeeking box, withdrawing a thermos from within, filled to the brim with green tea, the lid of the container doubling as a cup. With his left hand, Asai held the thermos, and with his right he covered the cap, and without a single point of contact the lid turned until fully unscrewed. The basic chakra control exercise completed, the old goat poured a cup of steaming hot tea, taking in the morning sun, waiting for the arrival of more pupils and peers to both learn from and educate.

Jira was in mid spar with Ikamu, the two of them jumping into each other. The were swiping at each other, each managed to block the others blow and attempt a counter. This was just light hearted fun, the two trying to make sure that the there skills and reflexes were still top notch. They enjoyed testing each other and trying to see if they could outdo the other. So despite the fact that this was supposed to be a friendly spar, if they kept going for too long this could turn into a full on battle. But thankfully before things managed to get out of control they felt the presence of several people. She was delighted assuming that her students finally arrived. It appeared that Ikamu had felt the same. Because he launched himself off of her, in an instant Takeshi and Tokiwa were knocked to the ground, giving the young inexperienced fighters no time to react. The kunai was reflexively knocked out of Takeshi's hand, it flew into a nearby tree, landing hard enough it caused a crack spread up the tree a few inches.

On top of them appeared to be a rather large kunoichi was pinning them down, though a puff of smoke revealed that it was a rather large Caucasian Bear Dog. He had a big dumb smile on his face that dogs have, the kind of look where you can just tell that he was ecstatic to see them. His tail was wagging and started to lick there face, he was just so joyous that he couldn't contain himself. Big and overbearing, he still kept them held in place, a paw in each of their chests. He didn't mean to hold them down, it was just muscle memory at this point. Jira landed right beside them and shoved Ikamu off them. "Haha, get off them you big lug, your gonna scare them off before we even get them started." She gave them a sweet and gentle smile, she knelt down and offered them a hand to help them up. "Sorry about that, he is excitable." Like she could talk, she was practically shaking with the amount of energy she felt. She could hug these children that she just met, but that would be wired.

Jira could sense that her final student was coming near, he didn't seem to have gotten to the training grounds just yet. But regardless she felt joy that they would all be together soon. She rubbed her hands tougher rapidly with a huge smile on her face. She got behind Tokiwa and Takeshi, facing the direction that Chiruka was coming form. She cupped her hands and yelled at the top of her lungs. "Alright everyone let's get started!!!!" She hoped that that would get him coming in the right direction, she waited a little bit for him to arrive. She sat on the ground and got comfortable, Ikamu came over and lied down in her lap. She started to play around with his fur. "Good now that we are all here tell me about yourself. You know Age, Birthday/astrological sign, Blood type, hopes and dreams." She perked up and giggled like a little girl in a slumber party. "Ooooh lets make a game out of it, we should play two truths and a lie. So Along with all of that other information you have to tell us two interesting facts about yourself and one lie." She was grinning from ear to eat, she just seemed like she was way to happy right now, that she was already enjoying every moment of this.

Ren went invisible as he ran, fading from view as he made his way through the woods. There wasn't any real need to do so. He didn't feel like there were any threats around or the like, although being able to travel without having to worry about being accosted by anyone, enemy or not, was always nice. Even friendly people could be serious sinks when you were in a hurry. He just felt like practicing a little. For all that he loved the Chakra Threads, he was actually a little bit better at the art of Transparent Escape and enjoyed being able to move so stealthily. It was a darned handy way to avoid chores as well as spying eyes and inconvenient people.

He seemed to be the first to arrive at the field. There was an older man sitting on a bench, a decrepit lunch box on his lap. He seemed to be completely focused on what he as doing, using pure chakra to pour himself a cup of tea. It was actually kind of impressive. Although a small thing, it demonstrated a level of control that Ren couldn't match yet. More impressively, despite being so absorbed in his task and despite the fact that Ren was hidden from sight, Ren got the feeling that the old man was at least peripherally aware of his presence. There was a certain tensing in the man's body, barely perceptible, that told Ren he had been found out.

That was a jonin for you. Even being new to the ninja life Ren knew that there was a serious difference in ability between genin and jonin. And it gave Ren some hope that maybe he would at least be a good teacher. Anyone that would take take that much effort and care with such a simple task was probably someone with something to teach. (Unless he was mentally retarded, of course. He didn't look it to Ren but it was always a possibility.)

Releasing the jutsu, Ren nodded politely as he reappeared, saying,"Mister Juro? I'm Ren Hirai. Nice to meet you."

The trees have always been quite bliss. Always silent, swaying and far up away from other people. Leaves bristled therapeutically as Jun’ichi listened to the rustles down below, straining an ear to catch each individual sound before hopping two branches down. Training was somewhat on his schedule today. Training, mock fighting, meeting the sensei ...everything seemed like little kid stuff. For most, joining the academy meant growing up and becoming stronger; for Jun’ichi, it meant taking his mind off of personal matters. Circumstances he told himself had already been bygones yet he could not bring himself to let those very things go. Hot air slipped past his lips, the genin crouched in his spot, observing the scenery ahead of him. He had to get out of bed at some point, Jun’ichi bitterly admitted to himself.

Halfway serious and halfway joking to try and swallow the reality of not being able to lounge about all day mixed an aroma of emotions the 12 year old wasn’t sure how to feel about in the present moment. It was as if a perfectly painted portrait had sat just a mere few feet away. A few illusionary feet, that is. What the individual would give to stop time, hurry back to his home, grab a few art supplies and return; never to leave his spot until an equally flawless representation of the sight ahead of the genin had been replicated.

Eyes curtailed into a sloth-like content, Jun’ichi shook his head twice to regain his grip on reality, the gravity around his feet momentarily gripping and withholding himself to the branch beneath him. He had been day dreaming again. Stomach rumbling, the genin laid eyes across his stomach, catching a silver-like container in his peripheral. Peeking over ashened curled up knees, a male sat just down beneath him, finishing up on an undisturbed meal. An older - no - elder gentleman. The kind to shoo others off if they got too close to his belongings. A snort passed up and through the bridge of Jun’ichi’s nostrils as he toyed with the idea of the type of being the very individual before him portrayed. Though it were nowhere near accurate, it served as some sort of exercise to get the brain and senses all fired up. What had he been eating anyhow? Ramen? Naruto? Takoyaki? Leaning forward, Jun’ichi’s hands cut into the wood as he gripped onto the edge to avoid falling over.

Green tea.

The old man had been drinking green tea. Tea, in this weather, with this view. The man had good taste. Something that the genin could admire from afar. As a matter of fact, this gave the individual a mental note of what to do for tomorrow: return to the very spot with a piping cup of hot tea to accompany the sunrise. Yeah, that’d add to the morning routine just nicely. Jun’ichi had made the decision to not interact with the older gentleman in respect of having sacred alone time. He would have to leave shortly, however. Today was the first day of his training and he was supposed to meet this Asai Soh person as his sensei. If he were anything like the old man sitting in front of him, that would be pretty damn cool.

“Right, first order of business…” Airi Kimiko had been practicing for her first day with a fresh group of students. The jounin was going to train a set of genin assigned to her and yet she felt as ready as a student preparing to wing a final examination. Rehearsing all night long and the weeks prior did not help either. What was she going to teach them? For how long? What was she allowed to do, to say? Did her background matter? Were they even interested in learning from a medical ninja? Thoughts numbed the blonde’s head as she continued pacing in the outskirts of Konaha. She had been far enough to allow herself to think but close enough to receive any incoming students without putting them in harm’s way. Airi reached into the pocket of her vest, fingertips grazing the metallic comfort of her necklace before pulling her empty hand back out. Not a chance. There was no way she could pray with one of the most powerful villages just a hundred feet of her. Granted, they were a peaceful bunch but in reasonable circumstances there might be a retaliation or two about Jashinism.

Instead, she would have to settle for the mere sensation of the item resting in her pocket, pop the button into place and leave it at that. No talks of Jashinism, no hints of Jashinism, not even so much as a thought to keep the relationship between she and her students absolutely pure. Anything in need of personal matters will be tended to in the after hours without the help of the academy or its inhabitants.

Airi brimmed at her self promise, sensations of the idealization firming itself into a solid slab of hope filled concentrated at the bottom of her heart. Sappy but the jounin couldn’t help it. She was a fan of the younger generation and all of their potentials; they were going to make a mark on history. Slowing her pace to a casual walk, Airi found herself a shady tree to sit beneath. Sitting down, one leg crossed over the others, a meditative state had begun, awaiting for her students to be to come and meet in the very location.

Takeshi Arikawa - The First Day
TheMADQ TheMADQ

Witty Wild Witty Wild

The earth beneath Takeshi trembled as the battle before him intensified. His kunai wielding hand shivered with nervousness, eyes shifting in all directions in attempt to catch a glimpse of the fighting Shinobi. His tension lessened however when met by none other than one of his two teammates - ice release ninja, Tokiwa.

Her comforting nod and sense of direction eased his helpless feeling. Takeshi returned the gesture, gathering himself once and for all as Tokiwa provided defensive instruction. However, their evasive efforts were futile when they were confronted by a heavy-set Shinobi. Takeshi’s kunai flew out of his grasp from the sudden impact, but managed to string a chakra thread to the end of his weapon. Despite it crashing against a nearby tree, he felt in complete control. Fortunately for their adversary, they revealed their true face before Takeshi could act in self defense.

The attacking Shinobi quickly transformed back into its regular shape - taking the form of a a giant Caucasian bear dog. It’s mammoth-like paws pinned both inexperienced Genin down against the dirt, saliva slobbering all over them. “Ugh!” Takeshi grunted, trying to push the mut’s paw off of him. Nevertheless, his struggle was trivial when his Sensei - Jira Inuzuka - stepped in to help. Jira Sensei dismisses her dog Ikamu and helped the two Genin back to their feet.

Takeshi eyed the Jonin up and down, skeptical about her abilities. Despite his questionable ignorance, Jira had displayed unbelievable speed and skill when sparring against Ikamu - putting his dispute to rest. Even with this information, Takeshi was still not convinced with her abilities - possibly due to her easy and kind nature, something he had yet to experience from any other Leaf ninja.

Moving along, the team gathered together and sat next to each other - hoping to reveal a little bit about their personal ambitions. Jira Sensei wanted to know their age, birthday, truths, lies, hopes and dreams. When directed to reveal this information, Takeshi felt rather uncomfortable. He was born in the Sand after all, so his time in the Leaf was spent as an outcast. He had yet to meet a Leaf ninja that cared about any of that when it came to him. Instead they all seemed to want him silent and in the dirt. Nevertheless, seeing as it was his Sensei asking, Takeshi felt obliged to contribute.

“My name is Takeshi Arikawa, I am fifteen years old, birthday June third, Gemini, blood type O Positive. I hope to become the strongest puppeteer ninja in all five nations to regain the respect of my clan.” It took a lot out of Takeshi all of this information, but it was his first order and he needed to impress. “I create my own puppets from a special family material and seal them in different scrolls for easier travel. I currently possess two puppets, but am working on a third on my own time. I like long walks on the beach and picnics by the sunset,” he finished, giving away his little joking lie with a faint half-smile. Hopefully that put an end to the awkwardness.

Shinobu Kyoki

Shinobu was uncertain, to say the least, about what today would be like. Just the night prior, her father had left to make a trip to the Land of Rice Fields, and today, she would be meeting properly with her team's leader and instructor. Her mother had told her who Asai Soh was, and so she was confident she would be able to recognize him on-sight, but she was afraid of what would follow. Would she give off a good impression like her mother told her to? Or would she end up presenting herself as a worthless Genin, like she knew herself to be?

Whichever it was, she knew it would turn out poorly. If she came off as a worthless Genin, she'd just be a disappointment from the beginning; if she came off good, she'd just lead to failed expectations that could mess people's plans up. Either way, she felt that the first impression couldn't turn out good for the long-run. Pulling the mask that she wore on the side of her head to cover her face, Shinobu left the Uchiha compound, heading into the forest to search for her new teammates and instructor.

Arriving at the Training Field, Shinobu scanned around in search of the person she'd been described by her mother, spotting someone that seemed to fit the description sitting upon a log at the edge of the field, with another, far younger individual beside him. Shinobu cautiously approached, wishing not to disturb the two of them though still be close enough to show that she were in fact there to speak with the elder Shinobi. With the kitsune mask still on her face, the young Kunoichi simply stood there in silence, a sense of patience given off by her posture, position, and lack of bodily movement, though also a sense of shyness given off by it all.

Jun'ichi Hatako [Div class="Line"][/div]

ooc: Just a quick note - the way I write for my characters is strictly from their train of thought/beliefs. An example would be below it mentions how Jun’ichi hasn’t met his sensei yet. Obviously the male is sitting right there but the genin hasn’t yet recognized the individual as such so i’d write it as if he weren’t there (if that makes some inkling of sense); it isn’t that I haven’t acknowledged anyone. I do my best to make sure everyone is accounted for!

Crunching of the leaves resting below the branch Jun’ichi had perched himself in alerted the genin of a newcomer. The individual turned his head in a ginger manner, eyes lazily lulling over the individual who had been approaching them.

A female.

A female roughly his own age with a characteristic mask lilted on the side of her face in a rather mysterious fashion. Jun’ichi could feel a small grin pulling at the ends of his cheeks. So he did have teammates to train with, after all. Given the time of day, the hour they were supposed to meet and the uncertainty of who is coming from where, the genin couldn’t help but surmise that it would just be himself and the teacher who also had not arrived yet.

She stood with an air of patience. As though she could harden into a statue and still not feel the difference of time passing. Fingers almost lifeless and eyes gazing up ahead, she seemed to be waiting for someone. Her teammates, perhaps. Her sensei.
Pressure revived Jun’ichi’s numbed feet as he stood in the tree branch. Her eyes had met his silhouette, making hiding from the individual pointless. A brief gaze at the old man again heaved a small sigh from the genin. He was still safe.

A hand found itself on the genin’s torso, subduing a wave of knots unfolding and refolding itself. Something about meeting others left Jun’ichi feeling a bit queasy; something about the female herself made the genin scrunch his nose lightly, eyes narrowing in her direction.

If she were to meet his eyes, they would ask whether she was there for training as well. Like before, he had not wanted to disturb the elder man’s lunch and much rather sit patiently for their teacher’s arrival.

Tenshi headed to find her Sensei, assuming the other teammates would be heading there too.
Being a ninja wasn't exactly something she thought much of, despite graduating the academy without failing any years.
She was quite indifferent to be honest. It wasn't like this was a violent of dangerous time to grow up in. They weren't in the middle of a war or anything, but you could never be too careful. Well if their teacher was competent then she had nothing to worry about.

She headed out with her umbrella above her head. She found the place, a shady tree, with what appeared to be their sensei perched under in a meditative state.
Tenshi decided to sit down and wait. She wasn't going to interrupt her teacher's meditation but she assumed her teacher would've been aware of her presence due to her chakra.'
Meditation? Was their teacher a Medical Ninja? That would've been an interested pick. Although that seemed nice considering one of Tenshi's strengths was healing jutsu. For now she waited. Until the teacher decided to start things.

Chiruka
Despite meeting minimal resistance on his way to meet his new Sensei, Chiruka still found himself running behind. Silently the silver haired young Genin berated themself over their foolishness and lack of punctuality. Distantly he could hear the sounds of destruction and battle , quickly he picked up the pace . Navy blue eyes threatened to shed tears as he finally made his way past the final bend, a thousand apologies spewing from his pale lips in his broken stutter .
“S-sorry I um I went th-the back way to uh um avoid t-traffic and well I, uh took a l-little longer than umm pl-planned, oh I um I promise to-to-“
Ruka weezed , skidding in next to his new teammates and bowing low repeatedly
I should have just taken the faster route ! Oh now their going to think me a useless teammate! A deadweight! A good for nothing! A loser-‘
Rukas thoughts continued to spiral downwards all while he furiously shoved the homemade bentos at his team and began vigorously unpacking and setting up a small picnic.

“An-and I really should have watered the plants last ah um last night
- um I-is salt o-on your onigiri o-ok? -
in-instead but then the lady wh-who li-lives next door tends to um scream a-a bit an-and sometimes she kinda throws things, so uh y-yeah it’s um best to-to be out of sight b-by 9pm...b-but that’s really n-no excuse!
Did you want d-dumplings Takeshi-san?
An sometimes there’s uh there’s um th-this really mean dog that fool-follows m-me-“
Ruka rambled silent tears beginning to track down his cheeks while he set out chopsticks and a water skin.

Airi had lost herself admist her meditation. Eyes close, simple breaths and crossed legs as time passed the jonin exceptionally slow seemed to have done the trick. Anxiety was a fickle thing especially when big events such as the first day of class was going to begin. What were they going to do? Where were they going to go? What limits was she granted so that one of the children would not go running to the Hokage that today was too mundane or too intensive. She had a class of mentalities to offer her newfound students but almost none that would pertain to hand to hand combat. Of course she was aware of fighting techniques that were taught in the academy when she was younger but beyond that most of her specializations focused on helping, healing and encouraging others as a support unit; not as a defensive or offensive system.

Today could be used for introductions. Getting to know one another and capabilities then work off of each other’s strengths and weaknesses. If one person came from a clan of fire and another of water, she could possibly align them back to back in a counter-attack defensive unit. Ninjas nowadays were far too impulsive to strike first, Airi would be damned before she set off another set of genin to fight because they were given the kunai, a handful of jutsu's and riled up.

The presence of someone else seemed to have paused her concentration. A new individual … younger but very much so poised. Airi’s opened her eyes with an air of pleasantry at the female sitting beside her. Her time’s up, these kids needed her now.

“Good morning,” she began with a slight smile. The jonin internally pondered whether or not the student was as nervous as she. Given her calm demeanor, something told her she was more than ready to take on whatever the day were to bring her. Airi tapped the grassy seat next to her, peering up at the genin. “Come, sit. The others are still on their way.”

Rinne Nara

“Hello? Anybody home?” Rinne called out, opening the door to his childhood home.

“Hey son,” Nazuna greeted, embracing her son with a graceful hug. “How have you been? Your sister and I don’t see you anymore...” she stated sadly. Nazuna moves back towards the kitchen and removed fresh bread from the oven. The house now smelling delightful and warm.

“I’ve been busy mother. All of us Jounin have been getting ready for a new set of students. I’m meeting with mine up here in a little bit. By the way, where is Ayaka?”

“Your sister started the academy today! The good girl wanted to go in an hour early to impress her new teacher. I think she may have a crush on him to be honest, he’s a handsome boy. Anyway! They’re already calling Ayaka a force to be reckoned with. They say she’s on route to become one of the strongest and smartest Shinobis they’ve ever seen!” Nazuna said proudly as Rinne smiled at his sister’s accomplishments. He started to reminisce at his time in the Leaf academy. Then suddenly, his happy thoughts were disrupted by a loaf of bread to the mouth!

Gagging, Rinne coughed with a full mouth, bitting down on the hot loaf out of survival. “You’re gotta eat boy, you’re looking too skinny, look at your arms! No girl wants a skinny boy!” Nazuna said, squeezing Rinne’s biceps as he chocked on hot bread. “You need to find yourself a wife you know? One that can cook and feed you good, just like I did for your father,” the woman continued.

“You know what? You should ask that girl from work out on a date. You know which one I’m talking about, the one with the pretty hair......What was her name again?? Oh yeah! Airi!!! I like that girl.”

Hearing his mother trying to hook him up, Rinne coughed loudly and managed to spit out the crumbs of bread that blocked his air way. His face turned blood red from how much he was blushing, so he quickly turned and.... “I gotta blast, bye!” Sprinting out of the house, Rinne flashed a peace sign tonhis mother. The woman followed behind, yelling out that he would die alone of old age if he didn’t listen to her.

“At least I’ll die happy! Tell Ayaka I said hello will ya?!”

_____________________________________________

About a half-hour later, Rinne found himself all alone in the southern training grounds right outside Konoha. He trailed in circles around a campfire, reading up on all the information provided to him by the academy. He went over his student’s profiles, learning the skills they displayed during their early training. Rinne event went back to their first assignment grade.

“These three are going to be the best,” he said optimistically, his signature smile forming from cheek to cheek. Looking up at the sun, it was almost 0700. “I sure hope they got my letter, or else I’ll never get to meet them...”

Letter:

Dear students,
This is your Sensei, Rinne Nara. I hope you enjoyed your journey thus far and really learned something in the academy. However, everything you’ve done up until this point does not compare for what’s to come. Starting tomorrow at 0700 at the southern training field right outside Konoha, you will begin yourbreal ninja training! Make sure to eat a heart healthy breakfast, pack a lunch and some snacks and bring all of your ninja gear - it’s going to be a long day.

Sincerely,
Rinne Nara.

"Okay, I've got my forehead protector, bag of sugar, baking pan..." Kana said as she packed her bag for the first day. "Can't forget the lunch mother packed for me," she added on to her train of thoughts as she rushed to the kitchen and grabbed her boxed lunch off the counter. Taking one more look over her bag, everything she needed was there. "Alright, now to grab my special treat for my new teammates!" Kana said to herself in excitement, throwing the bag over her shoulders and rushing to the kitchen once more, grabbing a semi-transparent pink crystal box the size of a cake filled to the brim with pastries. "I'm heading out now, mom!"

After running downstairs and out of the bakery, Kana made her way to the Training Field as fast as she could without wearing herself out. It was a little ways away with her living in the heart of Konoha, but she got there a few minute before the meet-up time, seeing someone hanging around a campfire. Kana slowed her pace, catching her breath a little before approaching. "Hello~! Would you like a morning snack?" Kana said with a bright smile as she put one hand on top of the box, the other underneath, the top of the box receding into nothingness to reveal the delicious pastries within.

The collision was off-putting, to say the least. Tokiwa huffed out an oomph as the air was knocked out of her lungs, a heavy thing still pressed across her chest, pinning her to the ground. She didn't think - Tokiwa begin to steadily drop her body temperature. She'd freeze this thing - whatever it was - off her.

Then the smoke was clearing and Tokiwa paused. Was that a... dog?

Having very little experience with animals, Toki froze for a moment. She just stared at the creature that practically dwarfed her in size, it's tongue lolling out of its mouth nonthreateningly. She faintly recalled a past experience when she was much younger with a large dog in the village, how she'd made herself small until the thing had lost interest. Given this past experience Toki did as she remembered. She let her muscles slacken, her eyes shut as a layer of doggy slobber inched across her face.

Then the creature was knocked off her and she could breathe unhindered again. Gratefully taking the offered hand, Tokiwa tried to push her skirt and her misgivings down. She wiped at her face in efforts to dislodge a bit of that doggy-drool, peered at her sensei. The woman, jira-sensei - she had yet to officially introduce herself but Tokiwa assumed that's what she would want to be called - suggested a bit of an introduction game and Tokiwa nodded her assent.

Takeshi started and Tokiwa nodded quickly, repetitively, to distract herself from the shaking that was beginning to inch its way up her body. So he was puppet master - interesting but not unusual. He was, she recalled, from the sand after all. And their other teammate like herself was an orphan. Was their team intentionally a band of outcasts? Tokiwa shook her head, pushing away that unsavory thought.

She was about to pick out the lie, albeit distractedly when the aforementioned person joined the group. It could be logically assumed that the new person - Chiruka, she recalled - bowing repeatedly was their third member (unless some genin was really lost and confused) so Toki murmured a quiet welcome and thank-you for the meal he'd brought and waited for the boy to calm down.

He was working himself into quite the fit and Toki per usual felt herself ill-equipped to deal with it. She did for one thing gently remove the other chopsticks and dumplings from his bag, seeing as he was really in no state - in her opinion to finish the task himself.

That finished, Toki turned to the rest of the group, seamlessly referring to the past conversation.

"The lie really has to be the last option, regardless of how pretty and idyllic that all seems." that settled, "My name is Tokiwa, no last name. I'm fourteen and a Sagittarius. I'm unsure of my blood type. My hopes and dreams are quite simple - I want to become powerful enough to defend and pursue my interests," a brief pause. "as well as the village's."

Now for the slightly harder part.

"I don't really like talking about myself. I wasn't born in the village. I'm a big reader."

"Honestly Shiro...Are you sure about this?" Nozomi said with a sigh, her arms crossed as she looked at her brother. Despite being younger than her by two years, they were already the same height and it seemed it wouldn't be long before he passed her. The boy was growing like a weed. She wasn't sure how to feel about that, but she did know however that she couldn't let him do this. Becoming a ninja like she was going to be was serious business. "Do you even realize what you're getting into?" They'd been arguing for the last several minutes.

Shiro meanwhile was rolling his eyes, obviously tired of her asking the same question for what by her count had to be the hundredth time. "Yes I am. I have been for the last 7 years since I entered the academy. My stance hasn't changed, Sis." As if to emphasize his point, he filled his weapon pouch before attaching it to his belt, then began reaching for his katana which laid on the kitchen table. "I'm not stopping now so you might as well get over it."

Before he could grab it, Nozomi wrapped her hand tight around his arm, her amber eyes narrowed into slits as years of being the maternal figure came back in full force. "I will not get it over it Shiro." She hissed. "You could get yourself hurt or even killed since there's no way I'd be able to protect you out there." When he winced, she quickly let go, her voice still angry. "All I'm saying is maybe you should rethink what you want to do with the rest of your life. Why not become a painter? You always said you wanted to be one when you were little."

"But I'm not a child anymore!" Shiro shouted. "I can make my own damned decisions you know..." Putting the sword in the scabbard on his back, he went and opened the door to their small apartment, stopping right in the door way. "Bloody hypocrite." He said right before slamming the door behind him.

Silence.

Nozomi growled, clenching her fists as she resisted the urge to throw something. She hadn't been able to stop him after all. The little idiot was going to go meet up with his own ninja team. It had been hard enough dealing with the fact they had been in the same class the last 7 years, both having entered the academy at the same time, but this? She had hoped in that time that eventually she would've managed to convince him to give up and just be a civilian. It was her job to do the dangerous work, especially after what they had both been through, not his. Why couldn't he see that?

She took a deep breath, trying to calm down. She needed to leave to meet her own soon-to-be team, which she was not looking forward to by the way. If only there was a way she could be trained by a Jounin just by herself and skip the whole teammate thing...The thought made her scowl harder as she walked the long way to the southern training field, not disappearing from her face until she spotted two individuals by a camp fire. She ran a hand through her hair as she walked towards them, forcing herself to have a somewhat pleasant look on her face that ended up being a frown.

"Hello." Nozomi said as she picked out the features of her sensei and currently only teammate. Seeing the pastries that the girl was holding made her mouth water even though she hated sweets. Guess that's what she got for eating a light breakfast.

Jira offered the Chiruka a worm smile when he arrived, she thought it was cute how apologetic he was. He looked like he was having a really hard time over there. Her face lite up when he handed her a bento, despite the fact that she just ate an ungodly amount of food, she still could eat a little bit more. It would be rude for her to turn down a meal that her student worked so hard to prepare for her, she was not about to do that to him. Especially after the hard time he is having right now. "Its okay, don't worry. You aren't late, in fact everyone is just very early." Her heart went out to him, she could not just sit and watch him cry like that. "Awww, no don't cry please, I promise you it's okay." She reached across the picnic and gave him a hug. A little too tight, she sometimes can get carried away, not enough to damage him, just hurt a little. "Listen your doing fine, better even, you brought me food." She started to tear up a little, she even gave a sniffle. "Which is the nicest thing anyone can do for me." She didn't even turn she just pointed behind her at Ikamu and said. "I swear to God if you ruin this moment you won't get treats for a week." Ikamu squinted his eyes at her and turned his head with a huff. The hug lasted a bit longer than it should have, but she eventually let him go. Once she was done comforting him she wasted no time digging into the meal and with frightening speed, it looked more like she was breathing it in them actually eating it. She finished in no time at all, she was then cleaning her face and neatly paced up the bento returning the box to Chiruka. "Thank you, the food was absolutely wonderful!"

Jira the turned her attention to everyone listening intensely to what they were saying, she pulled out a notepad and started to jot down the information. She wanted to make sure that she remembered them so that she could do something special for everyone. "Well you know what I am so glad that I have such an ambitious student!" She looked off into the sky for a few moments like she was thinking. "Hmmmm, I think that the lie is that you only have two puppets." She didn't seem to catch him giving away his lie, despite how much attention she was giving him. It appeared that she just was oblivious to it. "Ikamu what do you think the lie was?" He just looked away from her, still upset with the way she had been treating him. "Don't be like that, you have to answer or it won't be fun." He just gave her a whine and turned away even further. "Don't do this now, your going to embarrass me in front of my students!" She cupped her hand and whispered intensely, as if that would somehow make the conversation more private and keep everyone from hearing it, which it obviously wouldn't. He didn't even give her a response it just appeared that he was ignoring her. "Ugh! can we please do this later?" She finally got a real response out of him, a loud bark. "Thank you! Was that so hard! And what do you mean the last one was a lie? He totally looks like the type to like long walks on the beach!" She sat back down and crossed her arms, the two of them facing away from one another.

She claps both sides of her face, she looked delighted already getting over Ikamu. "We have two very, very ambitious students and I tell you I am so excited to help you two become as strong and humanly possible!" She started to stare off into space her eyes wondering around. She was thinking about training styles that she could use with the. It too her a moment to realise that she still needed to be here on earth and not up in the clouds. She shook the clouds of her head briefly before going back to being lightning focused. She tapped the pin to her lip as she thought about what Takeshi said. "Well I don't know what about you it is, but you don't quite seem like the person who talks about themselves much, but you also don't look like reader. So I am going to go with that you weren't born in the village being the lie." She said it with such conviction, like she knew for a fact that she was right,

She looked around for a moment, she was bouncing where she was sitting, she just seemed to not be able to hold still no matter what she was doing. "Alright I guess it's my turn." She scooted closer to everyone. "Well for starters my name is Jira Inuzuka, I am a Capricorn, my blood is 0+." She conveniently 'forgot' to mention the age that she asked everyone to reveal. My hopes and dreams are to watch all of you grow up and become the men and women you dream to be. Well not just yell though, I also want to watch my baby grow up, by the way I have the most adorable baby girl." She started pulling baby pictures out of her purse, at first it just looked like she was just going to show hem a few, but no she hand hundreds of pictures. She just kept going and going, it looked like there was going to be no end to it all. "And this was when she burped her first time on the...." She was cut off simply by Ikamu placing a paw on her shoulder, she gave a disgruntled sigh. "Ugh, alright I will get back to the task at hand. Where was I at?" It took her a moment to recompose her thoughts, "Oh, right the two truths and a lie portion. Well, I have a the most perfect baby girl in the whole world." She had that look back in her eye like she wanted nothing more then to go back to talking about her baby. But she was quickly brought back by a growl form Ikamu. "Right, right. I am on a diet. And lastly my eyes are blue." it was very clear that here eyes were indeed blue.

She got up from the ground, dusting off her skirt. "Alright now that that is out of the way, it's time that things heat up a bit. I would like each of you display your abilities. You don't have to go all out but just show me what I am working with so I can better teach you what you need to do." She had her pen and paper at the ready to take notes. She passed for a moment and it just hit her, she face palmed. "Oh my gosh I am so sorry! I sipped over you Chiruka." Her eyes were watering and she looked like she was already going to cry, she honestly feel extremely bad for ignoring him. She once again pulled him into a too tight of a hug. "Well you now have my undivided attention, so go ahead and share. We were asking about age, birthday/astrological sign, blood type, hopes and dreams and then ended with two truths and a lie." She was still a bit sniffly but other then that she was fine.

Beleth Beleth SomebodyElse SomebodyElse

There was a stream of low level cursing seemingly coming from thin air as footsteps pattered across the lawn. Ren was more than a little annoyed. How the bloody hell could they not tell him that they had changed instructors on him? Of all the stupid...
It hadn't helped that the man who Ren had originally been assigned to had no idea what was going on, either. Apparently he didn't even know that Ren was supposed to have been his student at one point, so the "Are you an idiot?" look he had given when Ren had shown up and presented himself had been more than a little embarrassing. Fortunately they had managed to get things sorted out fairly quickly, but now Ren was running seriously late and was going to have to explain this whole mess to his new instructor.
Or, maybe he wouldn't. Maybe he would do the smart thing and tell her to go talk to the idiots that had messed things up in the first place.
A head of bright blonde hair caught his eye from across the field and Ren sped toward the owner. Jun had been kind enough to give Ren a good description of the woman, and there couldn't be that many "baby faced" young women with "glasses and a blonde bob". He slipped past a cluster of students and faded into sight as he skidded to a halt in front of her. Panting a little, he said, "Miss Kumiko? Sorry I'm late. Blame the morons at the head office. They decided to change things without telling me."
There was another student there as well, or at least Ren assumed she was a student. She was standing nearby, an umbrella over her head to keep the rain off. (Or maybe the sun? It wasn't actually raining at the moment.) He gave her a pleasant nod, saying, "Hi. I have no idea who you are. Sorry. I didn't have time to research everyone like I normally would have."

Airi Kimiko [Div class="Line"][/div]

“Miss Kumiko? Sorry I'm late. Blame the morons at the head office. They decided to change things without telling me."

A new individual stopped before Airi, nearly out of breath. So this must have been the second student. The jounin cupped her hand over her eyes to block the sunlight to meet with the genin’s eyes. A small chuckle surpassed her lips as she rose, still keeping the other student with the umbrella in her line of sight. She could already tell this pupil was a good one.

“That’s quite alright - it’s only the first day. You’re pretty early if you ask me.” In some weird way, this was true in Airi’s eyes. No point in expecting a bunch of students to show up at a precise time all lined up and ready to go when she herself had no idea just what the hell she was doing yet. Early for her in this case referred to how soon both students have arrived despite her own readiness level.

“I believe we have one more student and then we can get started. How was your travels?" Her question had been directed at the two students, the second part more specifically to Ren now. "Aside from the confusion, that is. I understand how disorganized the administrative system can be. Would you believe me if I said that very thing had happened to me when I was a genin too?” Her words were a mix of bitterness from poor experiences and a dash of humor to try and lighten the mood. Then again, she couldn’t really blame the organizers. Rumor has it this year there have been new staff members which could really send things awry.

She herself had been a bit overwhelmed earlier. Not a single name on a roster had been presented to the Jonin; all she was told was to sit someplace and await for a bunch of children to come to her. As if that sounded okay in any sense. Airi shook her head once, glancing at her other student before stepping back, creating a small social circle.

“Well, then, let’s not be strangers with one another. Why don’t you both tell me your names and something interesting about yourself to get the ball rolling?”
