  Basic Species Description: Sea Wyrms are graceful creatures closely resembling what humans would call a dragon: the wyrms have narrow heads with at least one pair of horns and barbels, and they have frilled ears, and mouths filled with small hooked teeth meant to keep hold of slippery prey. The body of a wym is very long, resembling a serpent with a sleek, streamline design that is covered in smooth fish-like scales and flexible fins, but the actual size of these creatures depends mainly on their age and food supply, ranging anywhere between two or three feet long to lengths reaching almost a hundred feet; the same size as a blue whale.

  Electroreception: A predatory species these creatures are capable of detecting waves of electric energy using special receptors across their bodies (the barbels on their face are particularly sensitive).

  Color Manipulation: This species has the ability to manipulate their color (much like a cuttlefish) to blend into their environment and communicate across distances with others of their species. This ability can be consciously controlled with enough concentration but is often triggered by the subconscious in connection to the wyrms mood and adrenalin levels. In the dark they also have this ability with bio luminescence which is also used for the same purposes.
  
  
  Venom: Sea wyrms produce a parallactic venom in their saliva that temporarily stuns their prey and aids in digestion, it is non-fatal and wears off within 5-15 minutes depending on the size of the creature bitten (wears off faster in larger victims). Its effects can be lessened by staying calm, thus slowing the spread throughout the victims system while it wears off naturally.
  
  
  Diet: Sea wyrms are omnivores and their typical diet consists of 60% Fish and sea invertebrates, 20% Aquatic and Semi-Aquatic Mammals, 15% aquatic vegetation, 4% minerals (capable of digesting metals and the like) and 1% miscellaneous materials.
  
  
  Habitat: These creatures often follow the migrations of their preferred prey and can be found all over the worlds oceans, although in recent years with the increase of mans populations and the decrease of their own, more and more sea wyrms are retreating far into the oceans depths, rarely resurfacing.
  
  
  Relationship with humans: Sea wyrms are an elusive species with populations rapidly declining since mans ventures out into the oceans began. They do their best to avoid humans: especially their watercrafts or probes and typically leave humans alone when they enter the water. There have been occasional reports of 'sea serpent' encounters in modern times, especially from fisherman hunting for schools of fish and sometimes a sea wyrm will save someone whos fallen in or eat them instead. In ancient cultures they had a reputation of sinking ships carrying treasure; this is currently uncomfirmed but likely to be based on truth.
  
  
  Relationship with other sea creatures: Sea wyrms will hunt almost anything that enters their domain, but are considered highly intellegent beings unlikely to attack another sentient creature. They are social and will seek out others in order to catch up on any news they missed while lurking in deeper waters and have been known to trade with items they find from sunken ships or work to pay for items they desire.

Personality: Ren roams the waters of the ocean depths in which she lives, rarely venturing onto land although she can do so because she can become human. She eats fish and animals that get too close to the water. Loves riding the waves and basking in the moonlight on the surface of the water, using her wings to stay afloat. When she is upset she is deadly and when she is angry she creates tsunamis, hurricanes, thunderstorms, and ship wrecks. Ren does not like fire because it is her opposing element and cannot breathe fire at all. She doesn't like humans because of how they pollute the water and over fish on the animals she eats. She is very protective of her home and her friends.

Ren is Japanese for 'water-lily'.





Ren was born somewhere in the Pacific Ocean to two strong water dragons and had a nice life growing up. They were feared by most humans yet respected by the Japanese humans and worshiped. Although not as known as their European and Asian cousins, the water dragon resided within the seas and oceans of the world for countless millennial, eventually evolving into being able to take on human form. Their hides are naturally impervious to magic so they need not fear magical attack on them. When Ren was five years old, one of her friends was spotted by human fisherman and captured. The humans discovered the water dragons could be sold for money-their meat and skins so they began to capture and hunt the water dragons. Ren escaped but her family did not. They were taken by surprise when they were sleeping and now Ren is one of the last water dragons alive. She knows one other escaped but she has no idea if that dragon is still alive. Now she is trying to rebuild her race so she isn't alone.
