Realistic or Modern Moulin Rouge

Good evening everyone! Octogarden here with an interesting proposal.

I was wondering if anyone would be interest in a Moulin Rouge, CanCan Dancer or burlesque type of role play. If I get enough people interested I'll make a thread for it.

I love Moulin Rouge, but I'd need a bit more information to jump on board.


What will be happening in the RP?


Is it a club where people go to or what setting?


Will it follow the movie's plot or have a different plot?


Is this going to be simple, casual, or detailed?

Okie dokie here is what I have so far.


The setting is Paris, France 1890 a year after the Moulin rouge caberet has opened. Charles Zidler and Oller are the founders/owners. The CanCan is a thriving form of entertainment at the Moulin Rouge. But, it's not the only source of entertainment. The Moulin Rouge also doubles as a brothel and opera house.


I would like the plot to follow a group of courtesans who work and live at the Moulin Rouge, and also a few of the men who attend the shows.


The men's occupation will range from writer/playwrite, lawyer, Duke, and businessman. The men, of course falling head over heels for the girls try to convince the few to leave the Moulin Rouge.


Some of the women may refuse to leave their home for love, or others will take them up on the offer. The girls friendships will be tested, and so will their loyalty to Zilder and Oller.


Without needing to say it, romance will be a big part of this roleplay. So I wanna see the couple's and how they struggle to convice one other that the other is worth the heart-ache and challenges.


The catch for the girls is, each of them owes a dept to Zidler ( Which is why most of them are working at the Moulin Rouge in the first place) The girls each have a year to clear their dept or be stuck entertaining until they they are too old to kick their legs anymore.


The plot is still in the works but that is kind of the idea what I'm going for right now..I'm working out the kinks as we speak, or...type.


So the plot is similar in that a courtesan falls in love with a gentleman and is trying to get out of the business.


I'd like the roleplay to be detailed, but casual will work for me as well. I'm not too picky.


I'm hoping this has cleared up a few things for you, if not I'll be glad to try and answer anymore questions you may have. Just let me know!
