Before video killed the radio star, motion picture killed the Vaudeville stage.

The year is 1929, months before the Stock Market Crashes us into the Great Depression. Motion Pictures have been on the rise since their invention decades prior, except they are now evolving to include sound in films, the first being The Jazz Singer starring Al Jolson. More and more people are being drawn to the Cinema for its new and exciting revolution, what were once one second reels at best by Thomas Edison are now full length feature films that could be both seen and heard.

On the flip side, the Vaudeville shows, having been around since the mid-1800s, have all but declined and have fallen into the shadow of motion pictures. Fewer and fewer crowds are going to see the stage, and already most theaters have either been converted to motion picture cinemas or closed down completely. The Golden Age of Vaudeville is all but gone.

But one man plans to attempt to save the remaining Vaudeville theaters and keep them in business, doing anything he can to put on the greatest shows ever seen and maintaining as well as recapture the interest of audiences everywhere. His name is Maxwell U. Payne, and he is putting together an acting troupe to save Vaudeville from falling off the face of the planet. He sends out invitations to twelve actors, singers, and show stoppers, ranging from new blood to veterans of the stage. Six men and six women who can help him restore Vaudeville to the "Good old days!"

To make matters difficult, some businessmen are knocking on his door asking to buy his theater in San Fransisco to convert it into a motion picture cinema, but he refuses every time. He claims that he will put on the biggest show on Earth to financially save his theater and bring the audience back-but if he and his new troupe fail, the businessmen will buy the theater and, in Maxwell's eyes, "Bastardize" it into something it was never meant to be.

Will these six men and six women be enough to win back the audience? Or will The Ulysses Theater of the famed Orpheum Circuit be slave to motion pictures?

Just an interest check right now. The six male and female character slots are now open to reserve, but are not first come first serve, as I will choose the most creative and well thought out characters for this. And other roles will include the producers of Maxwell's show, his financial adviser, the two men who want to convert the theater, a director for the show Maxwell will hire as well as the stage crew, of course. I will also allow minor characters to be the audience or benefactors for the show. People from Hollywood like actors and actresses, and other workers are allowed in this role play as well to come and see what all the commotion is about up North in San Fransisco.

The RP would start off with the six characters coming in as they were invited to the theater, and can be from anywhere in the country, from all walks of life, ages ranging from child actors to the elders who have been there and done that, and should have a particular and special talent to be performed on the Vaudeville stage. They are going to perform for Maxwell, his director, producers and financial adviser to see what their talent is and what it looks like in practice. If the thread gets made, I will make a poll and take a vote on whether or not this theater will be saved at the end of this. Majority rules, of course.

If at least six people are interested, which is half the main cast, I'll make the thread asap!
