Realistic or Modern Months Incarnate

Eriana von Wildwind

For the last time, I´m an Aasimar not an Elf!
It was a clear, warm summer night. The temperature was basically perfect, not too warm or cold, not too dry or humid. And of course, as nights usually are, it was dark. For the most part. In one particular apartment complex, there was an entire lightshow going on, with the electrical high bpm music to match it. It was not any apartment complex of course, it was the one where nobody less than the 12 months incarnations were living. It was always lively here, one way or another.

The party had really just begun, the others were probably about to arrive, unless they had helped to setup. Some had agreed to bring food, others drinks. Summer, June´s incarnation and the certified party animal of the group, had been the manager, so to say. Just finishing her pep talk with the music guy, she was now headed towards the lights guy. Summer knew lots of guys, which was quite useful. No matter what you really needed, she knew a guy to get it.

The brunette half-korean was wearing a self-designed swimsuit, one that matched her usual style and was quite nice on the eyes, suiting her perfectly. With a glowing wristband and hair that was perfectly messy, in a way that really couldnt be natural but still looked like it had not taken any effort, she walked across the illuminated pool area, waiting for the others to arrive and enjoy what she had setup. She really hoped they´d all let loose and join the fun, some of them seemed to struggle with that sometimes.

A young silver haired man pulls down the driveway of the apartment complex, backing his SUV up to the gate of the pool. He puts the car and park and opens the door with an all too familiar *click* as he shuts it. He is wearing a basic set of grey swimming trunks with a slightly darker grey plaid pattern inlaid across them. As he walks around to the trunk and pops it open, what's revealed is a tower of aluminum containers housing lord knows what. He opens the latch on the gate, and begins carrying one of the containers inside. *Phew* Looks like I made it early enough to drop off the food. Note to self: Thank Delphi for not letting me oversleep. Looking around he sees an almost blinding amount of multi-colored lights surrounding the pool. While the dance music playing isn't particularly to his taste, he doesn't necessarily mind it. Just as he sets the container down he noticed some of the colored lights moving towards him. It was Summer!

"Hey Summer! Got the food from the restaurant like you wanted." He motions to the container next to him and lifts the cover off to reveal a cloud of steam followed by the scent of barbeque wings rising from it. "There's a couple more in the car I gotta grab though. It's seriously a LOT of food. I don't know how Snow managed to convince Boss to give us this much for the party."

Fate, Fate/Grand Order, Fate/Grand Order / 寝起き - pixiv

As his white and black truck pulled into one of the complex's many parking spots Ambrose ran through a list in his head, reminding himself what all he was supposed to be bringing to the festivities. It was a given that Summer would have handled all things for the night, but Ambrose some times liked to pitch in too. "Champagne, party favors, and....photo props. Check, check, and check." As he popped the trunk the car shut off and the key slid out of the ignition. The glass diamond hanging on the end of the keychain glistened and chimed as it tapped against he cuffs of Ambrose's jacket. The driver door lightly closed and as he walked around to the rear of the car, Ambrose found himself wondering just how he had managed to get everything into the car earlier.

~Hours Earlier~

"Thank you so much Julian, I really appreciate your help with these bags." A warm, charismatic smile draped across the model's face as he stood to the side and watched as the photographer's assistant loaded up a dozen small bags, a box of part props, and a crate of champagne into the trunk of Ambrose's Ranger Rover.

"Anything for you, Ambrose. You helped me get this assistant job so I owe you more than this." Julian quickly replied without hesitation, although his breathing was a bit labored from the many trips up and down the stairs. "That should be the last bag. I hope you and your friends have a great time tonight.'

~Present~

"Damn it. I should have called ahead." With a heavy sigh Ambrose rolled up the sleeves of his pink jacket and reached into the trunk. The first thing he grabbed was the crate that held 5 bottles of champagne. Stepping back from the car he kicked his foot out under the vehicle and watched as the door began to lower. "Jesus." he groaned as he turned and started to head inside. After a brief elevator ride, Ambrose found himself exiting the metal box and being greeted by the cool night air on the rooftop.

"I left a few things in the trunk of the car, anyone willing to go get the gifts-I mean the bags?" Ambrose struted over to one of the pool chair, his while heeled shoes clicking softly with every step he took.

Wonderful. Dragged into a party by his sister. Quinn had walked, mostly to avoid riding with his sister. He knew all these people-but even if shared classes with Summer, or gave advice to the others, that didn't mean he enjoyed big interactions. Like parties. They sucked. He couldn't even drink, he couldn't sketch since they were around water... Quinn was in a foul mood.

He entered, a long t-shirt over swim trunks. "Lily'll be here soon." He called over to the otherc, before taking a position away from the others. Ugh. It was gonna be a bad night for the resident introvert.

"lily! let's go!" his voice carried out through their apartment in a drawn out, high pitched whine. he had turned down his speaker blasting upbeat songs just long enough to yell at he before turning it back up, returning to humming and dancing around the kitchen as he finished some last minute pool party preparations. which was baking, of course. anytime the twelve months met, teddy went out of his way to bake something that fit the theme. this time they were meeting at the pool and, just like any other time, teddy aimed to impress.

he stuck out his tongue in deep concentration for the last cookie, leaning down with his piping bag full of neon pink frosting in hand. just one more cookie and they could finally go to the party, but lily was still in her room. "lily!" he shouted again, this time even louder. "quinn already left! you're taking forever!" okay, so maybe she wasn't taking forever at all and teddy had quite literally got dressed as quick as humanly possible because he was that excited for the party but that, he thought, was completely irrelevant. he wanted to get there early!

teddy ignored the fact that the kitchen was now a disaster and carefully placed each of his now-decorated neon beach-ball cookies into a plastic container, careful not to smudge the icing. he purposely left two out; he wanted lily to try one before they left and the other, of course, went straight into his mouth. as if on cue, lily stepped out of her room, and teddy's face lit up. "cookie!" he exclaimed through a mouthful of his own cookie, offering no explanation whatsoever as he approached her and shoved the cookie in her mouth. he cocked his brows, wondering what she thought, as he untied his apron and hung it next to hers, already wearing his pool-side attire underneath.

"ready to go?" he asked, grabbing the container of cookies off of the island without waiting for her response.

Lilian had been practicing banjo. Trying to tune out all the other music faintly playing and the scent of the cookies being baked was difficult, especially the cookies, wad difficult. She just gave up and stumbled out of her room, not really prepared or willing to swim. Why she’d forced Quinn to go, she’d forgotten. Maybe it was to bring him out of his comfort zone? Maybe it was the same reason they had the same apartment despite basically hating each other. Or perhaps it was simply to annoy him.

“Hey, whatcha do-“ The aforementioned unceremonious cookie shove cut her off before she could finish the question, not like Teddy would be listening anyways. After processing and having a quiet laugh at his choice of clothing, she noticed the giant mess that had somehow occurred in the kitchen and mentally groaned about having to eventually clean it up. At least the cookie was great though.

▌Delphi Kim
Dressed in denim shorts, a black bikini top, and a cream-colored cardigan tossed over her shoulders, Delphi’s intention to stay at the poolside was apparent. Rather than flounder about in the water, she was far more content with capturing the memories of the occasion. After a few clicks of her camera for a few test shots, the black-haired woman approached the man in charge of the lights to give a few suggestions and pointers.

“Oh!” Delphi exclaimed when she spotted Aster lugging in the containers of food they had ordered. With an excited bounce in her step, she bounded over to Aster and Summer, ignoring her camera which swung haphazardly from her neck. Fortunately, her faith in her spacial awareness amounted to her somehow succeeding in keeping her precious equipment safe from any catastrophic collisions.

“The food looks great. Good job.” Delphi said, giving Aster’s shoulder a playful tap. Her eyes wandered wildly from the barbeque wings to the rest of the still covered containers. Whatever was inside each was for her to guess, but she was sure all the food would be great, regardless. Both Summer and Aster had good taste, and a party wasn’t a party without good food to go along with it. However, it seemed like the rest of the food, along with the newly arrived Ambrose’s packages, were still waiting in their respective cars.

“Then let's go get them together,” she replied, “I’m pretty free.”

Aster turned to see who had tapped his shoulder, but he recognized that voice before he even finished turning. "Hey Delphi, glad to see you made it! Also you should thank Snow for the food. I just drove it over." Just as he had finished greeting Deplhi he noticed out of the corner of his eye another of his friends, Quinn. Though he seemed to be in a pretty bad mood, Aster figured he'd just leave him be until he found a better chance to talk to him. It seemed like everyone was showing up one after another, as the sound of that fabulous swagger coming from behind couldn't be anyone except Ambrose. He was asking if somebody could go get the bags out of his car. Aster was more than happy to help and Delphi was offering as well. "Perfect. We'll be right back then Summer."

Luckily Aster managed to park pretty close to the entrance so it was only a short walk to the car. "Thanks for waking me up by the way... I feel kinda bad, but that dream was so nice I just didn't want to wake up. Oh and for helping out with the food and Ambrose' stuff. Anywho..." He paused for a second while he pulled out another container, "You really never go anywhere with your camera huh? Have you gotten any interesting pictures lately?"

The tall and slender teen had been invited to this little get-together. It wasn't as if he had any objections or anything better to do. Steve was a prime example of a people person, after all. Steve was someone who felt a constant need to be doing something and drew energy from socializing. Sitting around in the apartment alone doing nothing was never his idea of a good time; he found having nothing to do and no one around draining more often than not. Since this was a pool party, his attire was understandably pretty simple. He wore a simple white T-shirt, a pair of red swimming trunks, and a pair of white slip-on sneakers. His green eyes were full of life, his short dark brown hair loosed about his head. It was a very short time before people started arriving. As the party's organizer, Summer was there from the beginning. She always knows a guy and she knows how to have fun. What's not to like? Delphi and Quinn were also there. Soon, Aster arrived with a whole bunch of food. Is that barbecue I smell? Ambrose arrived at around the same time asking if anyone was willing to go get the bags. Huh?
"Sure, I'll do it." He offered up a friendly smile while saying this. At that very moment, it would seem Delphi had the same idea. Well, that's fine. The more the merrier, after all.

Slowly Ambrose's expression began to melt into one of disappointment and irritation as he thought o one would offer to assist him. The glare and pursed lips that had begun to form were dispelled however when he heard one voice, then a second, then a third rose up to offer him assistance. "Perfect! You three are now my favorites." Ambrose teased as he maneuvered to set the crate of champagne down on one of the pool chairs. The clanking of the bottles was like a siren call, urging him to stay and poor the first glass so they could toast and finally start the party, but there were just a few more things to grab before they were ready.

"Thank you for offering to help you three, I appreciate it." Ambrose expressed as he stepped into the elevator with the others and headed downstairs. Last one on and last one off, he trailed slowly behind the others as they headed to their respective vehicles. "We just need to get the box with the party bags and the box with the photo props." Tapping his hand on the trunk of the car, the door slowly began to raise itself up and Ambrose stepped back to avoid getting hit. "THanks for coming to help Steve, you're always so selfless." The equally tall man reached into the trunk and pulled out the box of props, most noticeably was the brightly colored umbrella that was sticking out of the top of the box. ""How's working at the library been going? Anything interesting happen lately?" Ambrose stepped to the side to give his tall roommate space to grab the box of party favors.

bd76b7e35226377f3b7bc6f68b13b2c0.jpgHis brown boots clicked on the concrete floor, along with the sound of the baggage wheels rattling at the rhythm of the paving stones. A wide brim scottie, black colored just like his ripped jeans, topped with a white shirt and a denim jacket tied to his waist, the perfect night outfit to arrive at this new place, where who knows how long he’d stay. Dominique came from what used to be home for 2 cozy years, an apartment he had to leave since he wasn’t able to keep up to date with the flat owner during the last 2 months. It was a hard choice, because of paths he could follow: chill down and start saving for real, or keep his bohemian life at the expense of leaving to a more affordable option. There was this 3 bedroom apartment downtown at a building well known to his dance group for having many art students living there, the first day he went to visit where he was moving to, he got invited to a pool party organized by the residents. Not a bad idea to go meet his new neighbors from now on, he could only wonder what type of people he was going to meet, art gives you lots of liberty to mess around.

His keys dangled as he introduced them into the door knob, “anyone there?" he asked when entering the seemingly empty house, lights out and nothing more than just the sound of cars passing by outside, a weak beat from the party music that was getting ready and the full moon’s light partially illuminating the main room through the windows with a midnight blue tone. Dominique entered his room to leave anything unnecessary and get changed to the party outfit he thought of while packing everything up to leave some minutes ago. Making sure everything was ready and the door leading to his room was locked, because you never know if your neighbors turn up to be kleptomaniacs or something like that, he took a nice breath on the balcony to somehow help his soared legs from group rehearsals survive the night that was about to come. With hat and outfit ready, adjusting his ponytail and all set up to get going, Dom grabbed a tequila he bought at his friends liquor store and went to the place where everything was going down that night.

As he rang the doorbell and waited for someone to receive him, the sounds of the high bpm and the color lights leaking through the gap between the door and the floor made his heart feel the beat, letting it control his feet in the meantime as he waited for the footsteps behind the door to come towards and open it. He mumbled quietly while looking at the hallway like waiting for someone else to join him "Let's see where this takes me."
