Fandom Metal Gear Rising: Tactical Cooperative Action- First Party

"Well good thing I have meat shields to catch the bullets for me." Princess stated out-loud. "Oh! If they are Mole People fifty points or ooooooooh Illuminati Mole People those are worth a hundred points." She said squeeing at the thought of hunting an Illuminati Moleperson, and continuing to aim the minigun arm forward.

"Would teach them for not sending me my Illuminati Membership Card. Because I totally deserve to be in that club... Hunt begins now, do not cheat in tallying points."

The check-in list is fairly simple, listing names, check-in times, check-out times, and a picture of the subject.

  • Henry Oglethorp, 8:30-10:00 (guy looks like he's on business. Suit, sunglasses, feeling of dread.)
  • Michael Hawk, 9:00-9:30 (Kinda weaselly-looking, but at least he's got a chiseled jaw.)
  • Robert Smith, 10:43-12:00 (What a fatso! He's got love handles the size of your first!)
  • Ben Briggs, 12:05-XX (Brown hair, worried look, blue eyes, nothing special.)
  • Andy Kaufman, 1:00-XX (This guy looks pretty old, at least 60. That wispy beard really completes the "scientist" look.)
  • Apollo Diomedes, 1:20-XX (Weird name, for a guy that doesn't look Greek. This guy looks like a real meathead.)
  • Ketchup Lieberwitz, 2:00-XX (Christ, what a wimp. His name really fits the way he looks.)
  • Robert SXXX, XX-XX (no picture, poor guy must have been caught in the attack when he was signing in.)

You can't find much else worth looking at. You're glad this was a slow day.

Advance Team

The office hallway is deathly quiet. You shift on your feet, somewhat uneasy, somewhat annoyed. Suddenly, you hear footsteps further down! The door at the left end of the hallway is opening! Taking a glance around your surroundings, you make a simple mental map of the area. Those damn doors are blocking your view of the inside of these rooms, though!

((Your character chips are represented by your codename's initials. Red Hummingbird is RH, Blue Grasshopper is BG, etcetera))<p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_12/57a8c11b0ad0e_Map1-1.png.eeb99375205dfb0f73400480a75f6c70.png" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="37447" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_12/57a8c11b0ad0e_Map1-1.png.eeb99375205dfb0f73400480a75f6c70.png" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p>

"...a mix of arsenic and bleach or something. Most importantly, it's a gas. Looks like they used some sort of aerosol spray to get it in, so don't worry as much about clouds of this shit. Watch out for weird-looking spray cans or nozzles. One hit of this stuff might actually kill you."

Something isn't right. Eel says these guys are pros, but pros don't leave evidence lying around like this. Particularly not the cameras or the poison. Why would they even use a chemical that left such obvious traces, anyway? There's plenty of lethal shit out there that don't leave the victim with crazy burns in their mouth.

"Eel, you sure these guys ain't messed with the camera or something? There's something up with this place, and it don't make me happy."

God damn this place is freaky. Hummingbird gets in breaching position on the door to his left, signaling the others to get ready. "On me, I'd prefer not to die alone". Maybe I should make one of them go first? Eh, fuck it. Anything in that room isn't gonna live after I come crashing through.

"Pretty sure, BB- I'mma call you BB, that cool with you? Anyways BB, I'm looking at this and- well, before The System went down, I could see an edgerunner outfit having this kind of shit - slot, I ran with one a few years back - but there's just no demand for 'em these days, most of the indies can barely afford to eat, much less this kind of gear. I dunno what these guys are, but they definitely got some kind a' backing."

Princess readies herself, for the event that was sure to come. "Remember there is no shame in dying. As long as you protect me with your death. However I'd much prefer that no one dies except the targets.... And that I get the most points from their deaths."

"Hey, Eel. Where did these fuckers come from? I know you said the ground, but what room? If we can get there first, we might be able to set up a trap or some shit for when they get back."

"It looks like some kinda museum- seven of 'em going north and three moving south, I'm guessing to intercept us. Thing is, that's the only camera they didn't touch- somethin's fishy, I wouldn't be surprised if they mined the damn place just in case, neh? Keep your ears on"

"...Okay. I'll go have a look-see, I guess. You wanna come with? I mean, I'm good in a fight and all, but I don't got no gun, and we'd be fucked if either one of us got ambushed alone."

Failing that, I could always try to put together a decoy. There's that thing I could do with the drill I've been wanting to try since September...

Rainbow Cougar heard footsteps coming in their direction. Her combat instinct made her try to grab Red Hummingbird by his shoulder and pull him back, behind the door, to avoid getting caught by whoever was opening that door.

According to what Blue Baboon said, people in the building were killed with chemical weapons, some kind of Arsenic gas. The woman though again about the air conducts, but this time for a different reason: what if they were used to propagate the gas to all rooms? Surely, all the occupants of the building should be dead by now, right? And only those that came after that or prepared themselves to survive the attack with gas masks would be still alive.

Through hand signs, Rainbow Cougar indicated her teammates to stay hidden and quiet. She was pretty sure they hadn't been lucky to find a survivor.

Suddenly, shots ring out from the direction of the opened door at the far left end of the hall! Thinking quickly, Red Hummingbird pulls himself into the safety of the doorway, as a spray of bullets to bounce harmlessly off the reinforced concrete walls!

"Enemy contact! Need support!" cries the shooter behind the door. You see the door at the other far end of the hall burst open as another enemy charges out of it! Both enemies appear to be clad in standard-issue cyborg armor (+3 Defense) and are armed with modified AK-47 assault rifles (+3 Damage, 3 tiles range)

What do you do? Make sure to include a roll for Speed to determine what order these actions are taken in. (Crunch: Enter room, get in range for Target 2 and fire upon. **Ah bugger it was 4d3-8 which worked as FUDGE. Bloody Hell.)

Princess blinked as she heard the noise. "Right well then, the hunt begins."

[dice]3275[/dice] (+2 Speed Modifier, -1 Dice Result. Total combined: 1)

Princess proceeds to enter the room, while stumbling a bit in the process. "T-totally on purpose."

[dice]3277[/dice] (+ 3 Heavy Weapons, + 3 Hard Skills, -1 dice result. Total combined: 5)

Entering within range of her target she aimed her minigun arm and began firing.

Time to shine! Hummingbird sprints around the corner, flying through the next room and straight up to the enemy soldiers. He unleashes a volley of blows using his knees and elbows. "Let's dance!"

Rainbow Cougar waits for both Red Hummingbird and Sand Princess to leave their cover and enter the corridor. After that, she crouches and stealthily starts to creep her way towards the enemies, like a cougar approaching her prey. Rainbow Cougar was hungry, and she just caught two delicious deers. OctoCamo has been enabled.

[dice]3281[/dice]

[0 roll + 2 Soft + 1 Speed = 3 Total Available Speed. Enters after Sand Princess]

Minigun fire lances across Cyborg 1's torso as he tries (and fails, Agility roll=0) to duck back into the office!

[dice]3287[/dice]

The torrent of bullets successfully tears through his armor, dealing 1 Wound total of damage!

Taking advantage of Cyborg 1's painful distraction, Red Hummingbird charges into Cyborg 2.

[dice]3290[/dice]

[2+1+3+4-1=9] Enemy has 3 TGH, TGH beaten twice.

[dice]3291[/dice]

[-1+1+3-4=-1] Failed attack roll.

[dice]3292[/dice]

[0+1+3-4=0] Failed attack roll.

Red Hummingbird's flurry of attacks crushes Cyborg 2's chest, dealing 3 Wounds!

Cyborg 2 is breathing heavily, evidently working with one crushed lung and a caved-in chestplate. He is now Damaged, and suffers -1 to all future checks.

Being distracted, Cyborgs 1 and 2 automatically fail their Perception check. Rainbow Cougar is undetected.

(Enemy 2 rolled 1 for Speed, Enemy 1 rolled -1 for Speed)

Enemy 2 desperately fires his rifle at point-blank range, striking Red Hummingbird! Since Red Hummingbird is in close-range, a simple sidestep should keep him safe from most of the damage!

[dice]3293[/dice]

[dice]3296[/dice]

[2+3 Attack+2 Light Weaponry-3 roll -3 Defense- 3 Speed -2 Soft Skills= -4, attack failed!]

Enemy 1, thinking quickly, ducks back into the office. With a Speed check of +1, he successfully takes another turn and blind-fires at Storm Princess!

[dice]3299[/dice]

[dice]3300[/dice]

[-1 + 3 Attack + 2 Light Weapons= 4]

[0 +3 Defense-4 Enemy Attack=-1] Enemy attack successful, Storm Princess takes 1 Wound of damage.

Total results:

Enemy 1: 1 Wound

Enemy 2: 3 Wounds

Rainbow Cougar: Successfully transferred to the middle of the room

Red Hummingbird: Transferred to Enemy 2's position

Storm Princess: 1 Wound

Blue Grasshopper: No changes

"Haha, you insufferable peasant- wait, don't run you fucking coward! STAY THERE SO I CAN SHOOT YOU TO DEATH!" Princess screeched out as she fired the volley of bullets, and noticed that the prey was not a domesticated animal, who was willing to die because she wanted it to die. Damn ill-tempered beast. And to make matters worse, a bullet flew and holy shit did it actually hit? Holy shit it actually hit. "W-who hit me!? I'm a Princess you can't shoot me...!" She said her voice with a sense of some alarm, that someone would dare fire upon her excellency. That quickly faded to a shrill anger, "Whoever did that is dead!"

Storm Princess tried to get into such a position that she could properly aim her minigun at the cyborg next to Red Hummingbird and began firing an ungodly velocity spray of bullets.

[dice]3316[/dice]

[3 Speed + 3 Dice = 6 Speed Check]

[dice]3317[/dice]

[3 Heavy Weapons, + 3 Hard Skill, +3 dice = 9 Heavy Weapons Check] (Attack One.)

[dice]3318[/dice]

[3 Heavy Weapons, + 3 Hard Skill, +0 dice = 6 Heavy Weapons Check] (Attack Two)

"Dirty, filthy, rotten peasant! DIE! LET ME HEAR THE MUSIC OF YOUR SHRIEKING YOU WRETCHED ER, WRETCH!" Storm Princess said alongside giving a haughty noble laugh. "Oh but do not fret you filthy little savage, as you do get to die by my hand. It is an honor, you know, to die due to such a regal lady such as myself."

((I apologize for the sudden lack of updates from me for the past few days, I've been temporarily permabanned. Fortunately as you can see, I have since been reprieved and am now ready to continue. All players will have until Midnight on Tuesday to post, or their characters will be treated as inactive, and the mission will change to accompany the sudden shift in the power dynamic. Hope you all enjoyed your Christmas!))

A cry was heard across the room. Sand Princess just got hit by one of the cyborgs and she was throwing a tantum about it. "Why didn't they listen?" - Rainbow Cougar thought to herself as she approached her prey - "They could have stopped it!".

She did her best to enter the small office room without being noticed and positioned herself behind the cyborg that took cover in there.

[dice]3379[/dice]

[ 1 roll + 2 Soft + 1 Speed = 4 Total Speed ]

[dice]3380[/dice]

[ -1 roll + 2 Soft + 3 Stealth = 4 Total Stealth ]

The hunter slides behind the unaware cyborg without problems. He is completely clueless.

With a smirk in her face, Rainbow Cougar quickly unsheathes her HF Katana and slits the enemy four times!

[dice]3381[/dice]

[ -2 roll + 1 Hard + 3 CQC + 6 HF Katana attack = 8 ATK ]

[dice]3382[/dice]

[ 0 roll + 1 Hard + 3 CQC + 6 HF Katana attack = 10 ATK ]

[dice]3383[/dice]

[ 2 roll + 1 Hard + 3 CQC + 6 HF Katana attack = 12 ATK ]

[dice]3384[/dice]

[ -3 roll + 1 Hard + 3 CQC + 6 HF Katana attack = 7 ATK ]

Surprised by an unknown presence behind him, the cyborg desperately tries to damage control the woman's vicious burst of attacks.

[dice]3385[/dice]

[ 3 roll + 1 Agility + 3 Armor = 7 DEF ] [ 8 - 7 = 1 DMG ]

[dice]3386[/dice]

[ 2 roll + 1 Agility + 3 Armor = 6 DEF ] [ 10 - 6 = 4 DMG ]

[dice]3387[/dice]

[ -1 roll + 1 Agility + 3 Armor = 3 DEF ] [ 12 - 3 = 9 DMG ]

[dice]3388[/dice]

[ 2 roll + 1 Agility + 3 Armor = 6 DEF ] [7 - 6 = 1 DMG ]

Total DMG: 15

Cyborg 1 gets four new holes in his body and a few scratches! (4 Wounds + 1 Old Wound + 2 Extra Damage)

Cyborg 1's desperate flailing ceases as it collapses and lies still. As it collapses, a network of cracks appears along its chest. Suddenly, Cyborg 1's corpse explodes! Cyborg blood coats the walls as red-hot bits of shrapnel plink off Rainbow Cougar's armor.

As Cyborg 2 is riddled with bullets, he too collapses. Just as before, the cyborg collapses and explodes in a cloud of gore and metalwork.

It seems that, in the confusion, some things have changed. You notice that only Rainbow Cougar and Storm Princess are in the room. The others are nowhere to be found. Where did they go? How did they disappear so quickly? Were they there to begin with? It may be just the sudden increase in iron humidity speaking, but this room feels significantly hotter and wetter than before. (Roll a Perception check, score to beat: +1)

"Ten points I believe I said for each of those worms?" Storm Princess questioned to herself out loud.

[dice]3423[/dice]

(1 Perception Roll - 2 Perception: Result -1)

The spy cyborg covered her face as bits of white blood and incandescent metal sparkles flew accross the room. What was once a cyborg just got reduced to a puddle of an unrecognizable sustance, with some spare metal pieces here and there. The fireworks were worth it, though. A shame Rainbow Cougar didn't see them, although losing your eyes to a few seconds of amusement was probably more trouble than it was worth.

A quick glance at the place were the cyborg used to be confirmed that it was going to prove impossible to identify any pieces of the body. Intel told them they wanted a complete body to identify the attackers, but this was not going to be the lucky one. If she wanted to bring something back with her, she would have to capture the next one alive.

Rainbow Cougar looked down at her body. Her usually pleasant facial expression got turned into one of pure horror and wrath after realizing what happened to her suit. "Agh, it's fucking ruined!" - she said before giving a kick to the amorphous blob - "This jacket costs more than your whole body, bastard! Look what you have done to it!".

Indeed, her expensive OctoCamo suit was now covered in white blood. A pain in the ass to remove from clothing, probably even more in OctoCamo fabric thanks to its unusually rough texture. She only hoped Wasp Sting's laundries were prepared for this kind of stuff.

But something was wrong with the situation. Where did the others go?

[dice]3428[/dice]

[ 0 dice + 2 Soft Skills + 3 Perception = 5 Total Perception ]

As you look around the room, you notice something strange. It's clear that Red Hummingbird and Blue Grasshopper actually existed, you can see their names in your squad database. Their vital signs are showing up; apparently they're both at peak operating capacity, just... gone.

You attempt to radio Electronic Eel and tell him about the disappearance of your two squadmates, but he doesn't appear to respond. You radio Blue Baboon, but get nothing as well. It seems that everyone but Storm Princess and Rainbow Cougar have disappeared.

You feel a light gust of wind. How is that possible? This whole building's been sealed off! As you wonder what happened, you feel a stinging sensation on your right cheek. Dark red cyborg blood trickles down a small horizontal wound cut across your cheek (This goes for both Rainbow Cougar and Storm Princess).

The door at the end of the hallway slowly swings open, as if lightly pushed. The hallway beyond is well-lit, but entirely empty. Looks like you've got two options: move on with just the two of you, or fall back and radio in for support.

"Ack! My beautiful, elegant and superior to all face!" She quickly reached towards her face, as she dabbed her fingers in the red cyborg blood. Bringing her fingers towards her eyes, she glanced at the blood. "No! NO! MY faaaaace...." She cried out, sniffling a bit. That went on for at least ten seconds, before it stopped as she grumbled out in anger.

She glanced around the room. "What in the Devil's name is going on here? Are all the peasants dead yet?"

A tiny stream of dark red blood ran through the French beauty's face. Her fingers gently caressed the crimson liquid, stickier than one of a regular human. Rainbow Cougar looked at her hand, now covered in cyborg blood. Was it hers? What was it doing there? What the hell was happening in that room?

The furious, yet confused screams of Sand Princess made her snap out of her fantasy. Well, she was still there with her, at least. And she seemed to understand as much as Rainbow Cougar, which comforted her. She was not going crazy, after all.

"Intel, something... has happened here." - Rainbow Cougar spoke through her Codec - "Half of our squad has disappeared. Only Sand Princess and me are still here." The woman took a deep breath, still unsure if that was really happening. In all her years of experience, she had seen nothing like that. "Requesting reinforcements now. Things are worse than they seem."

"Copy that, we'll phone HQ and tell them to send in some more clowns. You're in luck, they've apparently got a new batch of them just lying around!"

As you quietly wait around the room, the sound of fluorescent lighting and the pit-pit-pit of dripping fluid becomes deafening. You notice a fusebox lying open on the wall. Evidently, someone's been fiddling with it recently, as some of the fuses have been switched off. Taped onto each switch is a simple label. Oddly enough, the only switches that are off are labeled "Hallway 2" and "Museum". Would you like to turn them back on?
