Futuristic Martian Frontier (cyberpunk space western)

I'd be very interested in this. Also do bounty hunters have to operate solo or can they work as groups/teams?

They can work together as much as they want. I cant think of any reason they coudlnt

Thinking of starting today just a bit more work to do, here is a preview of some information on technology for lore.

Technology: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_emerging_technologies most of the stuff on this page exists in some form or another, more detail will be given where I feel it is necessary

Molecular assembler: the process of using a molecular assembler is time consuming, so far its more an experimental technology and glitches are not uncommon still Molecular assemblers are a new thing that hip people use and all that.

Utility fog: controlling and powering the fog is still a problem, some people do have things like this but usually they arent as small or useful, some people do have tiny cleaning robots swarming on the skin though.

Femto/Picotechnology: This is talked about by scientists but still very experimental

Fusion Power: A common power source, many reactors are fusion reactors, however some "less environmentally friendly" power sources are used in order to speed up the terraforming of mars.

Immersive virtual reality: useage of virtual reality is common form of entertainment.

Artificial Intelligence: comes in many forms from the basic non-sapient AI in basic robots to the highly intelligent AI that act as people, various techniques are used in creating AI.

Augmented reality: augmented reality and cybernetics utilizing it completely changes how the average person views the world, using an augmented brain a cyborg can have tons of information constantly on display, reality can be recontextualized through the use of specialized programs to alter your view of the world (consensually, usage of these programs without consent can be a breach in contract!) in general, most contracts require the user to be able to understand the difference between virtual and real objects.

Life extension: through use of therapies and ideally genetic engineering, the maximum human lifespan has increased dramatically, the oldest living human is around 180 years old because the technology is still kinda newish.

Mind Uploading: Uploading a brain and turning it into an AI currently takes around a month, during this month the brain is slowly replaced peice by peice with artificial components that transmit data to a computer. after upload, the mind is essentially an AI.

Nootropics: while in the 21st century many narcotics had serious side effects, new drugs exist which are almost purely beneficial, they can cause problems if used irresponsibly but basically drugs exist to wake you up in the morning, help you concentrate, and even experience "altered states of conciousness"

Antimatter Weapon: Very rare and highly experimental, while experimental new technology allows larger scale creation of antimatter, it is simply cheaper to use nukes.

Directed Energy Weapons: finally! lasers are a thing that are used for combat, Pulsed Lasers are one of the more common varients.

Particle beam weapons: generally need to be vehicle mounted and are highly experimental

Force fields: Basically only seen in state of the art research labs

Plasma weapon: uncommon, but exist

Pure fusion weapons: theoretical

Anti-gravity: experimental, use lots of power, extremely difficult to maintain

Artificial gravity: the big "new technology" experimental space-ships have gravity generators and some exist in labs but generally not common. Centrifical force to create gravity is common.

Android/Gynoid: humanoid machines are not uncommon, though not all AI prefer them, some prefer less humanoid bodies and others prefer to live without a body. while some uploaded intelligences prefer Android bodies they are less common than you would expect.

Jetpacks: low powered jetpacks are a novelty item on mars, the lower gravity makes them a bit more practical than on earth.

Some terrorists organizations criminals might belong to.

HAL: A radical AI "liberation" organization, most of its members live outside the city, they trace roots back to less violent groups who wanted emancipation from humanity, many members of the former "AI Liberation Front" either moved out of the inner system and colonized the gas giants or moved out of the solar system for parts unknown. HAL is a radical extremist offshoot of AILF, they reject human culture (while occasionally embracing it, as shown by the name) Many non-violent members of HAL still exist but people dont notice them as often. HAL's attacks usually involve robotic war vehicles attacking the city, lately they have been targetting AI trying to get them to join this organization. HAL never take humanoid avatars as that is for "Race Traitors"

United Front: the united front oppose the widespread use of human augmentation, the roots of the United Front are religious however secular members aren't uncommon and the organization has slowly moved from anti-transhumanist to anti-corporate (though they still oppose all of the major corporations that do augmentations). The United front has a colony not far from Liberty where they manufacture weapons. United Front terrorists often attack corporate headquarters and augmentation clinics.

Zeitgeist: like the United Front but without the same religious aspect and anti-transhumanism, The Zeitgeist came from earlier organizations but the current "Zeitgeist" is highly anti-corporate, think typical cyberpunk "heroes" who see themselves as against the giant evil corporate world."

I'm looking to play more of a support character so does anyone need an Engineer/ hacker who is barely competent at combat to act as a partner.

I was thinking of making a robot who was programmed to act as a bodyguard, so that might work out...
