Fantasy Magic Adacemy (Closed)

Bellatsakha

Killer Clown
Hey guys, I'm looking for a couple of people to play characters in a magic academy where they learn all kinds of things, but have to go on quests and adventures to increase their grade. The world is magical and they all have different types of magic (eg. ice powers, necromancy). and they're all separated into different groups depending on their magic type (e.g. elemental, transformation) and are mostly kept separate from each other. The main characters are all failing their classes (either because they're bad at a certain subject and it's pulling their grades down, they don't want to go out and fight, or they just can't be bothered, it doesn't have to be because they're weak, but please don't make the OP, they're supposed to be high-schoolers).

They're put in a group together kind of like an extra help group, but the teacher running it hates them and thinks they're all just delinquents and should be kicked out so she keeps trying to set them up to fail (e.g. sending them into a fight that she knows is too hard for them, framing them for vandalizing school property). They have to band together to stop themselves from being kicked out and raise their grades. There are bullies, drama at home, impossible assignments, future dreams and everything that goes into the high-school life.

I post a paragraph or two about once a day, idc how much you post but please try to make it a bit more than one line.

Oh wow, there are a lot of replies. Here's the character sheet and I'll post a longer description of the school in a bit.

Name:
Age (14/15/16/17 unless there's a reason they would be in high-school):
Gender:
Powers:
Extra Skills (e.g. martial arts, ballet):
Meet the Character (a few paragraphs that describes the character’s general background and personality):
Appearance (a written description or face claim, I don’t care which):

If there are any ideas you have for the RP, post them as well, I'm always looking for inspiration!

Shouldn't there be a cs thread or do we just post here?

I'm going for it bring on the embarrassment if I messed up.

Name:
Jason Camp or just Jace

Age:
16

Gender:
Male

Powers:
Bone manipulation he commonly uses to create "blades" out of his arms or fingers.

Technically it's a manipulation magic able to reform, reshape and reconstitute material he touches, but he currently doesn't have the fine control over objects not in his own body and in effect cannot reliably manipulate materials outside his person.

Extra Skills:
He knows his native lands martial arts soft fist and hard fist.
He's great at rolling a blunt.
He has great DJ skills
He also is like a cockroach able to somehow survive any social situation.... that part isn't as important.
Most importantly he can cook the best cheese quesadillas.

Meet the Character:
Jace never wanted to attend school here. His parents on the other hand forced him to go since it would be one less kid to worry about out of their total 8.

He won a competition his freshman year against a senior using his power and the scholarships came flooding in and his parents decided this one was the best one since it got him out of the house for the school year. Despite the fact, Jace was only ever an above average student in his current crappy school now sent to a school that actually had expectations.

He barely passed his first year mostly because his primary instructor -Major Kelly who acts as a history teacher and unofficial military recruiter as he rambles about his days in the marines- pulled some strings seeing the potential in him.
To hide his academic failures, he hides behind a facade of not caring and being the student that teachers tsk at. He fell in with the other "losers" and is known as the class clown/bum. Only one teacher Major Kelly has any hope for him and every week forces the downtrodden youth to eat lunch with him one on one.

He is better known for being a street smart guy sneaking contraband in. Being a generally likable figure but one to stay away from due to his reputation, and a generally laid back guy who may not get the best grades.

He struggles with his powers despite them earning him a place at the school. His powers were a curse as much as they were a blessing. While moving his bones to go through his arms doesn't hurt. When they do break, he feels incredible pain.

Appearance:
He has black hair cut on the sides and the top combed to the side. Brown eyed and always wearing a baja jacket with swim trunks. The only time he wears the uniform outside of class is formal events after Major Kelly rants at him and smacks him once or twice. Teachers frequently roll their eyes as he walls down the halls dressed like this. Eyes are always raised with his famous "flippity and flop" on his feet making noise as he walks down the hall.

Name: Oliver Wes

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Powers: Cryokenises (Ice powers)

Extra Skills: Oliver is quite the weapon's master and can weild any weapon better than his own abilities. He prefers double to use swords out of all the weapons

Personality: Oliver is a silent type of person answering people with simple nods or grunts. It's not that he enjoys solitude, he's just an awkward interacter who doesn't know how to make conversation, but will try when given the chance. He is mostly a stoic person, but when he smiles it will be worth witnessing like a childish reaction no one has ever seen. It takes awhile for Oliver to trust due to his background. He is disciplined and mostly just a weapon with not very many emotional triats. If shown, he would be a great ally who will show their loyalty to those he proves their worth/ he may trust.

Background: Oliver grew up with an assassin where he was disciplined. He was taught the basics of fighting before he could even weild a weapon. His first weapon of course is a sword. The minute he held one was like an instant trigger of instincts taking over. He never learned why, but every weapon was the same to him. Capable of weilding each one learning it's function and purpose. His guardian kept him quiet teaching him the art of stealth. That and mostly because the old man enjoyed his solitude.

At some point in his five years of training, the lad rebelled finding assignments and training tedious wishing to fight real battles instead of being some messenger dog. Oliver disobeyed an order following the old man to his assignment. He thought he was ready and did well for awhile until things got hectic leading to his guardian's death. He managed to flee the scene forced to leave the body behind. Since then all he can think about whenever he fight is the mistake he made. He fears fighting losing control of using any weapons and constantly, literally freezing up in the midst of battle. Afraid to be the cause of losing.someone else. He tends to run away and hide and just be a cheerleader instead.

Name: Vanya Blakely

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Powers: Weapon Summoning

Extra Skills: Ballet, piano, violin, can keep calm in an angry debate and can brush off any negative comments

Meet the Character:
Vanya’s from a rich family who wanted her to get the best education possible so paid for her place in the school. She’s calm and level-headed to the point where she struggles to empathize with people and doesn’t notice when people are too sad or angry to make rational decisions or recognize that they need some alone time to process their feelings. She often tries to push people further than they are able to go because she believes everyone should have the same standard of perfection as she does.

She started out as a top student but soon realized there was no point in taking some of the classes because they weren’t relevant to her long-term goal. Therefore, she stopped doing the homework and paying attention in class, instead devoting her time to ballet lessons and piano practice. The only reason she made it this far was because her parents paid to fake her marks.

She pretty much ignores any attempt from the teachers to get her to concentrate because her parents were always berating her at home that she wasn’t good enough and had to try harder so it all rolls off her back. However, the perfectionism mentality did sink its way in during her childhood ballet and music classes, so now whenever she tries to do things that she wants to do, she’s stuck with the idea that it has to be perfect otherwise it’s not worth doing. However, that means she doesn’t like to show people anything she can do or use most of her powers because they’re not perfected yet.

Appearance:
She had long black hair with bangs that are usually in a plait down her back. She had bright blue eyes, a small pointed chin, and is all around very petite and short, almost fragile-looking. She puts a lot of time into her appearance and likes to make sure she looks what she perceives as ‘perfect’ so there are no flyaway hairs and her face is always clear of pimples and discoloration, which often leads to her taking way too long in the bathroom.

Name: Piper Leanne (Pip)

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Powers: invisibility

Extra Skills: knows echo location (she is blind), can draw very well

Meet the Character: Piper grew up in a very normal home with a very normal family. When her parents found out she had powers, they were ecstatic. She was born blind, and although her parents were very supportive and loving of her, they were worried she wouldnt be able to do much in her life. When she turned 8 years old, thats when her powers began to manifest. Once her parents had learned about this power they immediately began thinking of the school for the “gifted” kids.

Piper never wanted to go to school. At home she was always doted over and was center of attention. Because of her blindness, her parents usually babied her and got her almost anything she wanted. Because she was so used to that lifestyle, she was very content just living at home with them while they catered to her every need. When they insisted she go to school, she threw a fit before she was finally forced to go. Piper makes bad grades except in art. The art teacher, Mrs. Roger, had always ecouraged her to go to different art schools and compete in art competitions. Although Piper took a liking to her teacher, she wasnt motivated to do any of that.

Piper isnt a shy girl, and prefers to be around people. Although she is blind, she has never really had any trouble with bullies and tends to easily make friends. She is a bit bossy, and doesnt really understand that it gets on peoples nerves.

Appearance: Piper is a small girl (5’2) with dark brown, wavy hair that falls down right below her ears. She has blue, foggy eyes (blindness), and is super pale with a lot of freckles dotting her face and arms.

A bit about the school:

The Carlisle Academy of Magic Arts (CAMA) is a private boarding school that only accepts the elite (or people from parents who make very generous donations, but we don’t talk about that). Most parents have to pay a steep fee unless their child gets a scholarship. There are plenty of other magic schools around so there are only a couple of hundred students.

The building is split into four houses and the main building, where they go for classes. There is a lot of land surrounding it where there are tennis courts, sports grounds, large indoor and outdoor training grounds and stables. It’s hidden behind a tall brick wall and a bubble of enchantments so no-one can get in or out or see what’s going on inside, or if someone’s powers go wrong the outside world will be safe.

The inside is Victorian style as it hasn’t been renovated since it was built. The floors are dark mahogany and the walls are painted in dark emerald greens or navy blues and are all enchanted to be indestructible due to a lot of unfortunate mishaps with children’s powers. There are tall twirling pillars along the corridors and black carpets slung down the stairs. The ceilings are high and chandeliers light up all the classrooms and hallways.

The classrooms are rather small with 20 separate wood desks and a blackboard at the front, as well as a large teacher’s desk and curtains on all the windows that the teacher can close if the students are distracted. There’s a sprawling library with tables and sofas for students to sit and do their homework and music rooms, dance rooms and art rooms for extra-curricular activities.

The four houses are smaller buildings quite far away from where students live with their house mistresses and head of the house. Each house has around 80 students in it, 20 in each year and 4 years, meaning the school only has 320 students in total. There are 4 people per a large room and they’re allowed to decorate their side of the room however they want. Each class has its own house mistress, but they all listen to the head of the house, who is usually a master in whatever type of magic that house specializes in.

Magic is split into 4 categories: Elemental magic (ice, fire, wind, darkness, etc.), Transformation magic (animal transformation, transforming things into other things, etc.), Summoning (summoning weapons, animals, etc.) and Manipulation (reshaping things, manipulating people, manipulating yourself, etc.) Each section has different classes such as magical theory because the theories for each are different or immersing yourself in the elements for elemental students. There are some lessons they take together like magic control and how to make sure you don’t use too much in one move, math and sports and subjects like that because there are jobs that aren’t magical.

The school was created in the 11th century by a rich nobleman called Montgomery Carlisle who had a daughter who passed away because she couldn’t control her powers and accidentally set herself on fire. After that, he turned his stately home into a school where he employed the finest teachers to teach children. The school became bigger and bigger, every parent with a bit of money wanting their child to be taught by the best or the best and not the typical school teachers. They expanded the school and when Montgomery died, he passed it on to his deputy headmaster.

When the deputy was too old to run it, they had a vote on who would be the next headmaster. Eventually, the school was passed down to Headmaster Joseph Brixton, a bearded man in his 60s who used to be a student there. He’s always dressed in a suit and colorful patterned tie or vest and cares a lot about his students. He has the power to overrule anything a teacher says but doesn’t because he’s very close with his staff and trusts them which causes a little discontent amongst the students.

There are different teachers for each subject the classes have together and usually, the head of the house will do any specialized classes since they’re usually the most informed about the type of magic their students have. Teachers also give assignments where the student has to complete a task outside of the school, such as monster hunting or catching a criminal since the government is very interested in the school and allows them to do it as long as the school offers the correct type of training.

Missions can dramatically increase your grade in a class because it shows you have practical skills so most students really want to have those types of missions. There are lots of onsite doctors in case anything goes wrong. The higher year you’re in, the harder mission you get.

The typical school day starts at 7:30 am where the house mistress/master wakes everyone in their class and they have breakfast in their house before heading up to the main building for 9 am where they have two hour-long separate classes, then lunch in the hall and three more classes together. Then they can relax in the library or go back to their house or do extracurricular activities until 6 pm when they go back to their houses for dinner.

They get Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s and Halloween holidays, as well as a day off during the birthday of Montgomery Carlisle. Students can go home on weekends if they want to, but since people send their children there from all over the country, most choose to stay at school or go to the local town. There is a month holiday for summer when they have to go home.

The uniform is a black shirt, white blazer with red trim and dark red trousers or plaid skirt. They can choose whether to wear a tie or a ribbon, but it has to be in their house color so the staff doesn’t get mixed up. They usually don’t though since it’s such a small school. They’re very relaxed about the dress code and allow students to personalize it as long as it doesn’t go too far, but some of the nicer teachers will make exceptions as long as it's recognizable that it’s their school uniform.

Quick question, I hope I didn't miss this, but I was wondering how/when we would know if we were accepted into the RP?
Probably in a day or two, I'm just waiting to see if anyone else is interested. After that, I'll start a new thread with everyone's character info and plots and background info etc. I'll PM you it.
