[Haru Rivers]

Welcome to Luthais University,

Here, magical creatures seek a higher education in magic. Classes range from the basics of an area of magic, all the way to true mastery of a subject. The classes you choose to take are up to you, there are no required courses. We encourage students to interact with people from outside their home and make memorable friends that cross the species boundaries. At Luthias University food and housing will be provided for you, but feel free to bring any personal belongings you wish, so long as they do not endanger other students.

While you are here at the University there are a few rules that need to be followed:

1. Students must be in human form during classes.
2. Students have free reign of the campus at all hours, but certain areas of the campus may close at night. Please respect the posted hours.
3. The University resides in a small magical town known as Luthias. Students are free to leave campus to visit the town as they choose, however any disruptive behavior in the town will be punished severely.
4. The forest surrounding Luthais is home to many creatures, both magical and non. It is an excellent place to practice your magics, however we do request that students leave the forest as it was when you arrived.
5. Enchantment magic is strictly prohibited in its use on other people while in attendance at the University. Necromancy is banned in its entirety.

Classes available for sign up include the following. They are available at five levels of instruction. Beginner, Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, and Master.

• Alchemy - Changing one thing into another.
• Herbalism - Using magical herbs and their related uses, such as potions.
• Illusion - Hiding something in plain site, or creating an object that isn’t really there.
• Enchantment - Adding a magical effect to person or object. Charm a person or make a fire never stop burning.
• Divination - All magics related to seeing potential futures, finding person or thing, and even altering chance in your favor.
• Evocation - Control of the elements, light and dark. magics used to directly destroy.
• Conjuration - Summoning creatures and objects from elsewhere in the world.

Rules for both Character Creation and IC

1. Follow RPN rules
2. No one going to Luthais is a master of all magics. Strengths and weaknesses are important and I expect you to keep them in mind.
3. You do NOT have to divulge your race in your Character Sheet. Should you choose not to reveal what you are, simply put Human or unknown. You must DM me your actual character sheet with no hidden info for approval.
   1. If your character’s species is revealed, please update your CS here to include the relevant information.
4. Your species likely has a place within the magical world. You may detail the lore yourself, or should you not wish to, I will do so for you. I will add it to a lore thread.
5. If you have ideas about what could potentially happen at the University, please DM me, I’m more than happy to work with people to help a story arc come to life.
6. Feel free to omit or add any fields that may or may not be relevant to your character.
7. Posting requirements are minimal: preferably a paragraph minimum, but I’m not going to be picky, but do try and do a few posts a week if possible.

Name: Tenebrae Al’luth
Nickname: Ten, Tene (Doesn’t particularly care for these names, but tolerates them)
Age: 22
Species: Human
Appearance: The first thing that stands out about Tenebrae is his posture. Straight back, head held high, and a faint smile across his lips whenever reading a book, though that smile never seems to touch his misty blue eyes. Black hair falls to his shoulders on the occasion it isn’t pulled back into a bun or ponytail. His face looks almost Elven, with his high cheekbones and sharp chin, but he lacks any of the true features of Elves, though his fair skin fits the bill. He is never seen in short sleeves, it is unknown whether this is simple preference or if he’s hiding something underneath.
Personality: Tenebrae is friendly without having close friends. He’s a social chameleon, sharing a laugh with many, but lacking in those he could call real friends. Some of this is due to his tendency to get lost in studying, even while in the company of others. He has a dislike of large groups of people and so tends to avoid the cafeteria and other crowded places during peak times.

Bio: Tenebrae has shared little of his life before Luthais, his background as a human was rather uninteresting until it was revealed to him that he was of a magical heritage. He was schooled in magic by his family until he graduated from High School. He elected to attend Luthais University as opposed to maintaining a normal human life.

Since arriving at Luthais, he has been a sponge for all knowledge put in front of him. In and amongst creatures of legend who have been learning magics all their lives, Tenebrae often feels he needs to study harder in order to keep up. This results in above average test scores even in areas he struggles in.

Much of his time is spent in a Library or a quiet corner of a lounge area. It isn’t uncommon for other students to seek help from him, as he often grasps the concepts of magic extremely well, even if he finds it difficult to put it into practice sometimes.

Name: anna and ki'peck
Nickname:
Age: really long time but looks about 22-ish
Species: ex-deity and demon lord
Anna has a form of regenerative immortality although it comes at the price of her bodies durability even a rough poke would cause that part of her body to simple melt off, and the regeneration only start when she has sustained a lot of damage meaning she could just be walking around without her arms or part of her stomach and be fine with it but this does mean she has an extremely hard time learning magic for some bizarre reason
Ki’peck on the other hand usually can only be seen and heard by Anna well he could be seen and heard by everyone else if he really wanted to, but he doesn’t so. Anyway ki’peck posses a little more power then Anna giving him rather strong brand of telekinesis allowing him to interact with the world meaning Anna had a decent if unreliable defence against things

on the outside, Anna is a rather cheerful if pessimistic person mostly becuse of disregards of her own safety although if some stayed around her for long enought they would see her “talking to her self” of course this might look rather insane form the outside but that’s just ki’pecks Fault shes a bit of a know it all when it comes to magic but only in the theory her skill at using magic is generally poor. and shes very self conscious about it
Ki’peck, on the other hand, is basically the equivalent of a internet troll always looks for something to laughs and usually at the expense of Anna, while he could easily show himself to everyone ki’peck finds to more or less funny that Anna looks insane

Bio: to look at the backstory of these two we have to go back a long time ago, Anna and ki’peck where surprising bitter enemies Shockingly enough Anna at the time was a megalomaniac and the old demon ki’peck was trying to stop her before she broke something really important like him,... of course she did break him and attempt to take his powers ending up with him being a ghost like entity that followes her around and Anna as an almost powerless being that looks like a young human for whatever reason. Regardless the spent the next hundred thousand year stuck together and even after all that time the can’t get along. Continuing to fight to this very day

Personality: Carefree and easygoing. Rather sly too, seeing to win others over with his charm. Although he is apathetic when it comes to problems including ones that could affect him, his carefree and mellow nature being a flaw just as much as it's a positive trait. However, he isn't completely carefree, given the right situation. In the right scenario, such as a fight or a demonstration of his capabilities, he is revealed to be incredibly prideful, both in his species and in his abilities.

Years at Luthais: New to the school. Taking on 2 years for now.
Bio: A yokai from the East, now come to the academy. Once a young man who lived his life at a secluded martial arts school, far away from what most would consider to be modern day, today he still is trying to adapt to this new life style. Preferring to rough it and sleep under the stars rather than the comfort of a room and bed.
Long ago, his species were ones linked to disaster and mayhem, his arrival is meant to mend the Nue's reputation as a whole. Despite his important role, he doesn't quite act like it's all that important
Along with magic, his skills also lie in the realm of martial arts, having grown up learning them.

Efain is 5'8" with subtle curves. She has a slight muscular build and is toned (due to her exercise routines).
Personality
Efain is confident and friendly. She knows most people and is willingly to engage in conversation with almost everyone, but she trusts few. Growing up she was always the pariah, which made her keep everyone at arm’s length. Efain is intelligent, witty, sarcastic, and kind. She’s willing to sacrifice her time for others, but never asks much of anyone else. She was taught not to depend on others. Though she appears rather social and outgoing, she thrives when she can spend time alone or with a small group. Efain can be serous one moment and laughing the next, she is skilled at diffusing situations.

Bio
Being half elf she’s always known magic. She was raised by her human mother and occasionally saw her elf father (whenever he could sneak away). Her father taught her many elf customs, but she never fit in due to her ears, they were either too pointy or not pointy enough. She turned to her studies and focused on perfecting her fighting techniques, herbal remedies, and the like. Though Efain is skilled with magic, she cannot always put it into words; she feels and does but cannot explain each facet.

As she aged, her father showed up less and less. He eventually married an elven woman and started a family that he didn’t have to hide. She hasn’t seen him over four years. Her mother has always encouraged her to seek out higher education and delve into her heritage, which led her to this University. She does exceeding well in school (she always has).​

Personality: September Elwyn, or Sep, is a rather grumpy guy. He prefers to keep to himself, avoiding contact with others. Because of this, he tends to spend all his free time hiding in the library or his room. He has a bit of a hair trigger temper and will get frustrated with a lot of things, not least of all his inability to fully control his switch between his human form and true form.

Generally, he's disgusted by close contact and, even worse, romance. He has a very tenuous grasp on relationships and tends to ruin heartwarming moments. He also has a habit of snarking at, well, everything.

Bio: September Elwyn is a changeling. Not a "turn into anything you want" fancy modern changeling. A classic changeling. The kind that the Fair Folk leave in cribs to replace human babies. Of course, Sep didn't know this. Changelings don't know they're changelings because the Fey aren't there to tell them.

Sep was left with the Elwyn family by two very rich Fair Folk. He was left with them because it was fashionable to have a human child. You know, cause humans are so soft and squishy and cute (*cough*). There he grew up as September Elwyn, a boy who's life was not meant for him. Somewhere out there there was a child that should have had Sep's life but did not. Not that Sep dwelled on it. Because, again, he did not know he was a changeling. Well, he didn't until somewhere around 16-17 years old, when he was really angry at his parents, which triggered the magic that causes changelings to switch back and forth between forms.

This, lf course, scared the bejeezus out of his parents but scared him even more because a. He wasn't the person he thought he was and b. His true form was a girl. Yeah, christ knows how the Fey messed that up. Was he, like, the only changeling on hand at the time? I mean, seriously, they should have gotten a changeling of the same gender as the child. But I digress.

Anyway, some stuff happened that Sep doesn't like to talk about and somehow he ended at Luthais. So... yeah.

Personality: Willow is compassionate, friendly, and gentle, rarely angered or annoyed by anything. She doesn't like to speak much or stand out - always preferring to spend her downtime alone. This doesn't mean she doesn't like people, she just prefers being alone amongst nature.

She's often in her own thoughts a lot. In class she tends to spend most of her time dreaming. She's quite naive and gullible - one to quickly trust anyone she meets and she struggles to tell whether people are lying or not. She's often startled by loud noises and crowded areas - and gets quickly flustered and nervy when she becomes the centre of attention for whatever reason. She tends to think way too much about things - and is often hesitant before making decisions. She struggles to stand up for herself and she isn't confident enough to be a leader, but is more of a quiet emotional support.

Classes: Advanced Herbalism, Intermediate Evocation, Basic Enchantment (Taking extra classes because she struggles a lot with this)

Years at Luthais: 2 completed years

Bio: She grew up in a clan of earth nymphs. Largely cut off from the rest of the world and living in a close community that she greatly trusted. Her father wanted Willow to experience more of the world and find more opportunities for herself. Willow wasn't really comfortable with this but was too scared to say no to her father. She chose subjects that she was comfortable with - herbalism and evocation, but her father wanted Willow to learn more different kinds of magic and seek more opportunities in the magic world - so he signed her up to learn enchantment.

Willow moved into the university but found herself unable to really make close friends, just a few acquaintances here and there but she doesn't mind the quiet life anyway. While she did excellent with Herbalism and Evocation - she soon found she immensely struggled with Enchantment. She scores low on every single test so her teacher decided she needed extra classes.

Nickname: Lou, Atlas, Luna

Age: His humanity is physically and mentally around 21, but Altalune can remember as far back as the end of antiquity, when legends of the Phoenix were still in full swing.

Species: Phoenix

As a Phoenix, Altalune is a product of his environment - the Moon. He is learned in the slightest natural magicks - altering the flow of pools of water or decorating his surroundings with glowing specks of moondust. He's cold to the touch. He moves gracefully, like the gravity holding him down is low.

To some extent he can change the perception of his reality; he spends much of his time disguised as a gentle-looking human boy. As a result, the air around him always seems to be stirring, like the faint breeze before a thunderstorm.

In comparison to others of his kind, however, Altalune's powers are notoriously weak.

Personality: Altalune is what you would expect of an inhuman creature doing his best to blend in - his human body is clumsy and very disproportionate; its legs are too long, and its talons terribly misplaced, it has no wings to speak of ... not that they would be of use to him. He's often frustrated with it, and he can be melodramatic about his circumstances; "Doomed I am to this inferior vessel, left hapless for all my days..." By default, he struggles to make the most of his situation, opting to complain and be miserable instead of befriending his new body. He's a quiet, mopey pessimist, and somehow constantly sleepy. His existential worries, though out of his control, exhaust him. He doesn't particularly care for humans and their complexity, but they garner a certain softness out of him. He keeps his voice quiet and wispy, similar to the tweeting of a songbird - it's melodious, but not intentionally. Occasionally, it lilts in the wrong places. In some ways the human language still evades him.

He's not a people person. He likes to be alone, he prefers to operate on his own schedule, he cares not for social functions. He's utterly disinterested in their societal structure.

Despite this, the tiniest piece of Altalune's being craves companionship and acceptance. Something inside of him aches for that hyper-romantic rush he reads of so often in human literature. It seems so far out of reach, however, that it discourages him.

Years at Luthais: New arrival!

Bio: Altalune is one of many sons belonging to the Moon Phoenix - as is the red Phoenix borne of the Sun, so is the white Phoenix of the Moon.
The Great Phoenixes, confined to protecting the surface of their homes, each chose to nurture a clutch of eggs formed from moondust and sunshine. Within each egg, another Phoenix developed. The Children of the Phoenixes hatched one thousand years after their conception.

The Moon Phoenixes in particular are brilliant illusionists, capable of altering their physicality and the way others perceive them. Despite this inheritent talent, hints of their ethereality cannot help but reflect in their disguises. They are curious creatures by nature, and seek to spend their lives exploring the Universe, where the Great Phoenixes could not go.

In total, Altalune has nine siblings. Unfortunately, stranded on the Earth, he has no way of contacting his family.

As a hatchling, Altalune was the smallest of his clutch. Even after years passed, he was unable to fully spread his little wings or lift off of the Moon's surface. While his brothers and sisters traveled the wonder of space, he flapped helplessly at his parent's side.

Once, before a typical outing, Altalune's eldest brother agreed to carry the fledgling on his back. They made the mistake of circling the Earth on Altalune's request: the pair drifted too close to the Earth's atmosphere, and as its gravity took hold, Altalune was unable to hold onto his brother's feathers. He fell, and so too did the eldest, chasing after.

The eldest stayed on Earth with Altalune for many, many years after, teaching and providing for his little brother until he was able to hunt small mammals on his own. Before long, the eldest had to return to the moon, and Altalune was left to fend for himself. Throughout his life Altalune met and was enamored with humanity - its history and its inventions and its literature, but above all else he yearned to return to the Moon.

So when he heard of the forest surrounding the town of Luthais and its university, alleged to provide magickal creatures with magicks outside of their own races, Altalune made a beeline for it. His interest piqued in enchantments - perhaps he could cast a spell of strength, of stamina, of endurance, so he could finally fly out of the atmosphere and back to his home.
