The Lords of Ether are the descendents of men who considered themselves Scientists and believed that they worked for the betterment of humanity. They found their theories and accomplishments choked by bland "scientific laws." Although many Scientists treasured old-fashioned honor and aesthetics, they were an optimistic bunch and spoke of a grand and glorious future. These Scientists boldly sought this future, whether sailing the winds of Etherspace (Umbra), exploring the lost and hidden Hollow Earth or fighting the New World Order with ray guns and jet-packs.
But times have changed as a new; generation of ethernauts has come of age, disillusioned by decades of war and eroding social values. Their war against the New World Order has pushed them to desperate measures to obtain the necessities of war. They have turned to piracy.
