Fantasy Looking for couple ppl for arr marriage rp

Hello there!


So @Pearlholy and I are looking for a couple people to join in on our one x one arranged marriage rp idea. Currently we are looking for only a couple people for a fairly small arrange marriage in a fantasy setting. Here are some guidelines:

Plot/Story

In this warring country, there are several kingdoms that have tension with one another. There are four kingdoms in question that want to make a pact with one another and open their borders to trade and ally support. Each kingdom is strong in something, but weak in another field.


Currently the only one explored is the military kingdom of Lavali (ruled by King du Laval) who has had their crowned prince pass away of an illness. The second son, who is the Lavalis military commander, is next in line to wed--despite his disdain for the idea. Their military may be great, but they are losing a lot with famine, and so need support from a more plentiful kingdom.


The other kingdoms have not yet been defined and are up for creation by various players.


Characters will be escorted from their kingdom to a central meeting place--a castle where they will stay for a duration of time to get to know their corresponding bride-to-be/groom-to-be.

What we are looking for

1. Males or female characters (we do actually need princesses)
   
2. People either willing to double or accepts that Yuuki and Pearlholy might double characters
   
3. Are open to not-so-happy endings and dark themes with the story and characters
   
4. Are open to complicated and tension-filled relationships
   
5. Accept that characters that are not prince/princesses are also playable as welcomed
   
6. Is able to write Casual to Detailed (we're pretty lax in our writing and write whatever length feels necessary)
   
7. Accepts that kingdom politics might come into play along with romance and feels
   
8. Is open to asking questions and/or giving suggestions

Yuuki's character

Name: Dieudonné du Laval (prince and commander of the Lavalis kingdom)


Age: 25 (or 27, depends on other characters, can't really go lower)


Position: Prince of Lavalis


Personality: Cold, calloused, vicious and merciless. Dieu only finds interest in morbid amusement. He is a warrior at heart before he is a prince. He is strong willed and immovable in disposition, always demanding respect from others. He is arrogant to a fault and could quite possibly have a superiority complex.


Pearlholy's character

Name: Joyce Rutherford


Age: 25-26 (negotiable, leaning towards making her older.)


Position: Dieudonné's right hand/knight


Personality: Abrasive, irritable, impatient, satirical. She has very little control on what she has to say about people which never consists of nice commentaries. Silent and poised carrier of a permanent (Cheshire-cat-like) smile on her face, Joyce is very loyal and displays absolute obedience towards the prince.

Okay, well so far this is just a loose rough draft:


So my princess helps to be part of the training of her spies - her parents did not think fighting and warring was fitting for a princess, but she wanted to help so they agreed to let her help with spy craft.


When she turned 13 her father was killed in battle, she was the rightful heir and took the throne as a figurehead. Her mother helped as much as she could. By the age of 15 her mother died of illness, leaving the princess alone to rule over her kingdom.


She would be 18 by the time the arranged marriages were arranged.


I would add more, and develop her more. This is just what I have for now.

Would a rather large age gab be an issue with you?


My character, with his warring and battle experience can't really fall under the age of 25. Dx

The age gap doesn't bother me, but I can also make her a little older – which is a possibility if I decide I need her to have more experience with anything. If not, the age gap still does not bother me.

I thiiiiink, if she were just a liiiittle bit older, probably around 20 or so, it could be a little more fitting. But ultimately, it's up to how you spin your character. I don't mind the age gap, but I like to ask because some people do mind, y'know? But it is a medieval-fantasy timeline, so young marriages weren't far off.

I would like to be a part of this. I actually have a princess character I am dying to work out better, yet never found a good roleplay for her and this one could (would) be perfect!


Name: Ismenia Catharina Mathilda Gwendolyn (mostly called Cathy or Catha)


Age: 23


Gender: female


Appearance:


She has a fragile delicate build with a small waist. Her copper red hair fall just over her breast and is of a thick slightly wavy texture. Her eyes are somewhere between blue and green, depending on the light. To sometimes it seems they tend to be more green when she is relaxed and at ease while the blue shows through when nerves or scared. She loves her pretty corset dresses though she mostly hides them and her body under a cloak, if possible she hides her face with the hood of it.

Important Details:


- won't speak unless spoken too (very shy). Will try to avoid eye contact as much as possible


- taught (with her father's iron fist) how to serve those of higher power/status (aka males)


- unaware of her own beauty or what to do with (unwanted/uncalled for) male attention


- can cook and clean and take care of wounds, will try her hardest to please/serve every wish into the utmost detail


- will almost always wear a hooded dress or a cloak to cover herself when going outside


- loves to read or daydream so she can live in her own carefree world.


Kindom;


Elaria. It is the kindom of helpers and healers. They have little to no army forces and rely on their bounds with other kingdoms for protection. Their country is very wealthy and fertile/productive. Her father is very protective of his only daughter (and child) yet knows he would have to arrange something in order to keep the kingdom save.


I am willing to change some aspects and open for suggestion

Real life pics aside, are you going to play the Father? Because for a shy woman who won't be doing a lot of talking and a prince who objects to the marriage (and give them a hard time about it), I find interactions rather difficult.

I didn't intend on playing the father in a big role, but I can see the problem. I wanted to change that bit, but my sleep deprived brain forgot about doing that. It is more that she won't speak up in public or for her herself, but she will try her hardest to make it work out for her kingdom. So she would speak to him, but more in a way of trying to make him see how it is the best for both their kingdoms. She would try to avoid fights, even though that probably ain't gonna happen, since their differences in personalities are gonna clash.


I have no idea if that just made sense, but I can promise you she won't just sit around in silence all the time. She has inherited a stubborn side from her mother, that just yet has to pop, and being pushed so far out of comfort zone would make that happen.

My fear is that she's gonna be torn to shreds xD


In the case of my prince, he'd find her laughable and then pretty much ignore her attempts. He's already reluctant to marry and is finding any excuse to not do so. Plus, coming from a militaristic kingdom, he's more inclined to accept people that will test him in will, personality, and intelligence. Even more if they're combat savvy, but I don't expect that too much. xD


I can see her developing incredibly fast or be completely stunted, so that's always a gamble.


Also, because I'm just curious, why does she wear a hood? Is it because of the beauty thing?


And just a side note, not like it should matter too much, but I'm not very big on real pics. OTL

Ow she is... she is gonna be torn to shreds, but she will regain herself, somehow.


The reason I choose her is because I am very curious to see her develop after being held down by her father for so long and now having to stand up for herself. And because in the plot it was mentioned it was about oppositing kingdoms. So that one kingdom would make up for what the other kingdom lacks. Besides no matter how good you are at battling and war, people are bound to get hurt and a good healer might come in handy at those times. So that was the reason I had chosen her, plus the contradiction in character (the males being so strong and she being more timid) would make things more interesting than only having strong willed, fighting eager people around.


And the hood is not only because of the beauty thing. Let's just say that Elaria might seem like a peaceful country, but being a pretty woman of status in dangerous in a country that can offer little protection.


As for the pictures. The roleplay I had intended to use her before (which never took off) required real pics, so that is why I just kept them.


anyway if you really think, it will not work out with her. I do have another female character, which is pretty much her opposite. Skilled in fighting, very upfront in her opinion and not gonna back down easily. If you want I could send in a bit more about the other character. I really have no preference to either of them. But just because of the contradiction in personality and the one kingdom supporting the other and the other way around I thought of Ismenia.

I like your explanation. Usually I'm very nervous about timid characters because its really easy for them to get lost or fade out. But if there's rhymes and reasons, and potential to progress, then it could work out. We'll give her a go. =w= b

What is your opinion of one with a strong navy? They may be more like pirates, but they know their way in the ocean.

Would it be too late to join? I have an idea of a kingdom that specializes in magic but is pretty weak in combat and stuff

That would make perfect sense. I also feel like there should be a kingdom that is more pacifist that focuses on marketing/trade.


maybe it deals heavily in agriculture, and technology. Not sure.

I would be interested in this if there's room for an extra player, it sounds really fun. My idea for a kingdom is a Feudal fiefdom primarily based around agriculture. Peasants would be required to pay a tithe and taxes to their lord who in turn would pay a tithe/tax to the king. I'd be playing the kingdom's crown prince.
