Realistic or Modern Life Drags On [Post-Apoc]

We don't know much of the Old World anymore, what it was like before the Night.

The resources dried up, the planet warmed, the oceans rose, and too many hungry mouths scrambled for what remained. The perpetrators of this disaster vanished, the fabled rich and their corporations disappearing with the start of those troubled times. Top politicians and businessmen squirreling away into bunkers beneath the earth, or in ships beyond the stars, taking what they had reaped. To the majority that remained, they found themselves lost, their old lifestyles taken out from beneath their feet, their world crumbling. The Dusk began soon after, remnants of government fighting over what remained of our world as it burnt. Nuclear weapons, bioweapons, and more, the world changed in those days. Apocalyptic heat and nuclear winter, drowned cities and newborn deserts, nothing remained unscathed. Ash smothered much of the world, beginning the time we called the Night, an undocumented time of suffering.

After the Night, came the Dawn, when the ash-storms ceased, and the sun shown again. Much of the world was still ash and wasteland, but we were alive, and soon found out we weren't the only ones. Mutants, the walking dead, and Old-Tech Machines owned the world now, and damn well let us know it.

The year is 89 Post Dawn, and we're coming back from the lowest point. Communities, although small, have emerged and technology is being pulled back from the void of ignorance. However, we cannot help but worry. Factions grow, and people fight over what little we have, even as mutants clammer at the walls. Have we not learned anything?

Hey! Thanks for reading this, as you can see, this is a post-apocalyptic roleplay. I was quite in the mood for one of these for a long time, and didn't know how exactly to set it up. I couldn't decide what disaster to go with, but ended up realizing that I could use multiple of them, all together in one. Post-apoc scenarios set in a mad-max wasteland, or zombie-apoc RP's are fun, but why not both?

Our setting is a greatly changed East Coast of the United States, and we begin in the small settlement of Arden , where our characters were simple survivors. Arden was small, with a population of 52, and few means of defense. We had been sent to escort a supply caravan to Benton down the way for weapons, only to return and find our home destroyed, laid waste to by mutants. The RP begins with our cast trying to figure out what to do from there.

The RP will be more of a sandbox adventure, exploring this ruined world and trying to survive. The general tone of the RP will be rather dark, comparable more to Metro than Fallout. Fittingly, your character likely will not be permanent, so it is advised to have a second character in mind.

Arden was a simple town of Red-Moss farmers, scavengers, and militiamen. Fittingly, none of your characters should be super hardcore bad asses. Additionally, since it has been several hundred years since The Dusk, none of your characters may remember the Old World.

This sounds amazing! Let me know what I need to do to help you build this world and story!

Hopping in my dude! :D

Got that down. I'd like vehicles to exist, but I am trying to think up how. My only thought really would be some sort of bio fuel or solar power, as there just isn't enough oil/gas.

Interested! How open are you to new ideas regarding this?
