Legends of Axelhaven RP

Folly-Derrezzed

Heaven restores you in life.
Far in the reaches of the planet lies a magnificent region of opulence, hidden by time and stone. A fissure opened up just recently west of the great city of Axelhaven, to which people quickly flock to in hopes of the treasure within. A tall figure entered the Great Forest in pursuit of the dark relics within. Every inch of their being is wrapped in thick brown cloth, a cloak draped over their neck that hides their right arm. A baggy hood covers the individuals face except for the tip of a snout, the nostrils flaring at every deep breath of the fresh woodland air. Glossy leather gloves cover the entirety of his arms, the top an oval shape.

They scanned the area, leaning against a thick mossy tree. His clothing scraped against the scratchy rough bark, pieces chipping off to join the detritus below. The newly formed chasm opened from the recent quake should be close, he thought hopefully.

The forest is a shimmering blue scape on top, the sun complementing them with soft brushes. The wind came from the north in short choppy bursts to disturb the inherent stillness of the leaves. However, the sunlight gets lost through the canopy and shade became a dominant species. Tex pulled down his hood and ran his tan scaled palms atop his head, raking his gloved fingers back and forth to kill an itch.

His mind was elsewhere, stuck in memory that wasnt his. A scene of a girl..white carpet..then light. He shook his head, pulling a leather wrapped canteen from his pack and twisting the cap off in a hurry.

The word had spread of the new chasm quickly with people rushing past him as he sat to rest and gather himself. He checked over his supplies for cave diving and spelunking. Protective gear, picks, whistles. This is the most traffic the forest has gained in some time. The indistinct chatter of other delvers mixed with the pounding of their boots on the floor echoes around and became the norm for the next hour.

Sitting a bit close to Tex is Jin, a mammoth-minotaur with... extremely bulky and heavy body build. He wears a black tank-top, and has a welder mask on his forehead. In his hand, a small, dark-colored hammer. His backpack, nothing but foods and supplies for the journey, though there is still some space inside for whatever loot he may consider taking along the way.
He sits there to catch his breath too, while checking on the hammer carefully. Although his mouth is almost completely obscured by his large trunk and tusks, it's still possible to somewhat see his pleased smile. Mostly whenever he has some time for himself to check his hammer.

Rayla was humming to herself as she quietly traversed the forest. She loved the soft murmurings of the wildlife interacting with the plants. It always calmed her down and it was a perfect way to start her day. She was just thinking that she had been out in her own little world long enough; definitely longer than she usually was, at least, when she heard commotion coming from the side. She could only sigh as she glanced in annoyance in the direction of the noise. She had heard the rumors, of course, but she didn't think it was this close. She was just going to avoid it all together, but then she heard the voices. She heard them screaming. Those maniacs who were only after the new promise of adventure and risk were trampling the plants with little to no concern for them and their feelings.
As she debated on if she could go further and risk being dragged along as a healer for their stupid thrills and greed, the screaming got louder. And she could no longer take it. She slowly made her way closer to where the screaming was originating from, careful not to be seen by any of the others quickly making their way to the Chasm. When she thought the coast was clear for the time being, she kneeled down to look at the poor, trampled plants and softly cooed to them. She could fix them. She could make them better. They just needed to wait for a tick while she gathered the magic into her hands so it didn't go spilling out and drain her quicker. She had to hurry, after all. With all these people going down into the new area, there would be need of her wares back at the shop. So she would need to make sure she had excess of her excess. She would be busy, riding the waves of this new expedition and risk. Of course, she didn't expect that someone would be just resting while everyone else rushed, so she dropped her guard just a smidge.

Victor may or may not have bitten off more than he could chew with this job. See, one of the Axelhaven officials had asked him to rid the outskirts of the town of some beast that had been plaguing travelers on approach to the gates of the city. Apparently there was this whole thing about a chasm, fissure thing that had a lot of people wanting to hit up the town; not that it was of any concern to him. Made for a pretty hefty paycheck though. That is if he kept to receive it. What was never communicated was what exactly Victor would be fighting, and lo and behold it would just happen to be a Tarrasquilla. What is a Tarrasquilla, you might ask? Well, it is a sub-genus of the Tarrasque. Natural selection says survival of the fittest, and well, no matter what mutations would make the Tarrasque weaker it still would be the fittest to survive for some generations. Effectively, Victor was just fighting a very small Tarrasque. I'm getting more pay for this, I swear. But where was Victor right now, in all of this? Well, he was flying through the air at some sort of high speed. He didn't quite mind the tail, and took it to his frame. That shit hurted. Narrowly avoiding a collision with several trees, Victor flew across a clearing: it was the trail into Axelhaven. The people were already here! Victor needed to finish this fast.

Flying back into the forest on the other side of the road, Victor channeled his ice magic into the air and across the grass. He pulled the moisture out from around him, sending it across the ground behind him where it sent up and created a single penitente, on which he caught himself. Eyeing his surroundings, he found a rather beautiful Elf woman that was just kind of there. Why wasn't she with the other pilgrims? A bit strange to be off trail. No matter.

"Uh, miss? You need to go!" Victor called out with great urgency. The Tarrasquilla was no doubt on its way, and he didn't need any more collateral.

"Well yee be fooken aroun' too much an ah..." he groaned, standing up and walking towards the large beastfolk. He prepared a greetings, first with a wave and a toothy smile. Unfortunately, the land of trees didnt take too kindly to him and his imbalance. His foot is caught on a thick sharp root and he tripped over, falling heavily onto his front with a hard oomph. The tacky root had peeled away some of the scales on the roof of his foot, bleeding gently. Tex managed to stand back up and cover his face once more with the hood, standing up and gaining his balance. The lizardman dusted off the dirt and dead leaves off of his clothing before looking out to the openness of the plains that lay out near Axelhaven. "Sounds like a scrappin' is in process, yeh. Sounds...like food." He cracked his neck and looked to the beastly mammoth. "You out 'ere for the chasm as well? Quite a build you got. Somethin' says yer a uhh..blacksmithin' type, yeah?" He asked in a polite tone, accentuated by a low deep growl at the back of his throat that carried every word like a stack of timber. Tex eyed the hammer and walked back a bit, stepping into a tulip sprout. "Names Tex." He said with a wide and goofy grin, his teeth jetting out just slightly. "Im headin' out to the chasm in hopes to uh..find somethin' of value. Relics and items. Heard that this one is goin down quite a ways, bout a thousand meters." He added for context, using his hands expressively.

Try as he might, he was bothered by the increasing sounds of the struggle against the strange reptile. He gives a sign saying 'one second' and trots out into the warm sun. He cups his snout and yells out to the guard, "Ya need any help over there, boy? Four arms better than two!" He stretched his arms out and fire ignited around his elbows, stretching to his palms like snakes. Flickers licked out to the air and his arms caught fire entirely with a woomph as he moved in fluidity, coaxing out the fire and commanding it with his will. The lizard was ready for the creature to strike, standing on the other side of the road.

"No, no! It's fine, I've--" He picked up his foot, stamping down on the penitente he stood on. "--got--" He stomped one more time, a crack forming on it and stretching down some ways. "--this!"

He jumped up and crashed down on the penitente one final time. The spiked top end snapped of, and Victor dropped to the ground with it. Taking his gloves off, he flicked his hand in the direction of which he came, and what was left of the penitente evaporated in a flash of light. Then the ice reformed into the shape of a tuning fork, and Victor slid the needle he snapped off in between the tines.

"You guys might want to duck!" He called out to the crowd on the trail. He could see the Tarrasquilla approaching. This should put him down for good.

"I dunno. Seems like you seem to uh.." He looked on and saw the creature in full glory and running straight at him. So many new things in such a short amount of time. His eyes widened and he ducked out of the way, covering his head with his hands. His backpack clattered along with the shaking of the soil. "The world is a ice fork gonna do!?" He shouted to the guard.

Jin didn't get to properly introduce him before the commotion started. He could've sworn he heard someone's voice, shouting for his name in the air... in a way that got him startled and his fur jumped. Only one person in this entire world could really do that to him, but that person... is gone. Then, when he finally got back to reality...

- Uh sorry what's going on ? I kind of zoned out for a sec over here.

He says so as he grabs his hammer, out of instinct. The first thing that really made to his ears while he wasn't paying attention, was someone saying something like "you guys better duck !", but duck from what ?
Then, Tex's comment helps him notice what's coming at them. More reason for him to get the hammer out, now.

- This gonna be fun...

Rayla was so busy healing the plants that she actually jumped when she heard someone call to her. She looked in the voice's direction with a surprised, yet annoyed, look in her eyes. Did he expect her to leave just because he told her to? She could survive just fine whatever he thought she shouldn't be around for. And she was about to say just that when someone else, a lizard man, came over and offered the human man help in whatever he was fighting. And he declined, which just seemed stupid to Rayla, seeing that he looked worn and battered to the Elven woman. She could really only roll her eyes at the interaction as she went back to her work. She could hear the plants screaming thanks to the Human's use of ice, and she hated it. She was going to have a headache after all the yelling, and she didn't think she had anything at the ready to help combat it. She just sighed as she began healing the plants again when she heard something else: something that didn't sound like it was friendly. She turned to look behind her and noticed the lack of screaming voices before the giant, terrifying monster. She quickly stood up, hands clenched into the hem of her clothes. She had never seen anything that big or that frightening. She quickly ducked behind the thickest trunk of a nearby tree and just hid, cowering as one by one, the plant's voices just stopped. She could only hope that they were just staying silent from the fear and not because they were...tears glistened at the corner of her eyes at the thought. The poor things didn't deserve this!

Jin also quickly get out of the way, the HELL out of the way, as fast as he can too, before the beast comes in. "What is going on to the world right now !?", he thinks to himself.
He raises his hammer up, as it glows a mix of white and gray light. From the ground, several metal spikes slowly emerge and come up, looking like a spike trap. A bit further away, more metal spikes, but this time they seem to be more like in an angle, pointing towards the others.
If the lizard and the human can't stop the beast despite all the fire, ice and lightning that they're throwing at it, then Jin can only hope they at least soften it up enough so these few metals can finish it.

Having seen that everyone complied with his demands, Victor clasped either tine of his sculpture with his now bare hands. After a moment of silence, he forced all the magic he could into the ice. His hair was bleached of all pigmentation, and his eyes glowed as the air ignited with cackling electricity. The lightning swirled out of his hands and weaved itself into his creation. As he continued, the grass around him began to shrivel and harden, as it was frosted over. Seeing that some large and imposing warrior had imprisoned the damn thing in a myriad of steel spikes. Perfect!

"Fire in the hole!" Victor yelled out, and pushed one final wave of energy through.

In one fell swoop, in one instantaneous moment: the small pike of ice wedged in that fork was propelled at a blinding speed. Behind it, a flashy trail of pink and violet light followed behind. It sunk deep into the back of the creature's gaping jaws. It toppled over, seemingly dead, but Victor didn't trust it.

"Hey!" He called out to that large lad that had trapped the beast. "Super Hammer Brother! Double tap him for me, will ya?"

He'd do it himself, but-- Ow, fuck. He clutched his abdomen, where three large gashes had opened up his torso. It really fuckin' hurt. He had something for it though. He pulled out a small gourd, and when to spill its contents into his hand only to find that the damn thing was empty.

"Fucking--" He sighed, slouching a small bit. "I oughta make some more when I get into town."

"Super Hammer... ?" He hears the human calling out to him, then chuckles.

- Sure, sure, lemme just-

He swings down the hammer.
From above, a load of swords materialize out of thin air and into existence, pointing down at the beast, then dive down like a hail of steel, almost as fast as if they were fired from a cannon.

(The swords look like this)

Rayla watched with a look of horror. The plants...they...they were dead. They weren't supposed to be frozen like that... She felt the tears fall as she looked at the iced over plants, but there was little she could do now. She couldn't bring back the dead after all. And she guessed there was nothing to be done if it meant the monster was defeated. It wouldn't have gone down without a fight, after all. No monster did. They had their own thoughts and emotions, even if she never understood them most of the time. It upset her, but it made her feel a little better that she couldn't hear their pain whenever they were slain. And they were hunted daily.
Rayla watched as the giant one with the hammer seemed to make sure it was dead, forcing herself to stop crying. The human was hurt, so she could heal him as a thank you. She slowly made her way from her hiding place and made her way to the injured male. "Excuse me?" She softly asked, her voice slightly deeper than the average Elven woman's, but it could hardly be noticed with her voice so low in volume. "Do you mind if I touch you?" She asked, her eyes focused more on his injury than anywhere else. Up close, it looked awful, but healable. It might take two sessions if she didn't want to overuse her ability and pass out. That didn't seem like the best idea at the moment, considering she was surrounded by strangers and there had just been a giant monster living in these woods. She had never come across one, but she didn't feel like pushing it today. She didn't feel like dying, just yet, after all.

"Do you mind if I touch you?"

Victor was snapped from his groggy stupor by a rather peculiar question. He looked up from where he sat, to the gargantuan Elven woman. Really, she was fucking huge. F--what? She seemed to be eyeing his wounds close, with a distinct level of scrutiny. Ah, a healer of course. It only made sense. Though--

"No, no. It's quite alright, lass. I'll be just fine. I just need to get some stuff together for m--" He grunted, in an attempt to stand. To no avail, his muscles gave out and he was on the floor once again. "Fucking damn it," He let out, defeated. "Fine, here." He remove his shirt, under the context that wide surface contact is an important component in healing magic. Best not let his clothes get in the way.

He laid himself down against the dead, frozen grass. The entirety of his torso exposed, left his marred and scared skin be seen by all. He had several divots--fissures, really--in his skin from fights he'd waged in some seven, eight years of being a mercenary. He didn't like doing this, but admittedly, the injury was much more serious than he let on. It was pretty bad, and to see the light of day beyond this--while not impossible, or even improbable--would be difficult without some amount of help. Luckily for him, that was right here; for some reason.

Rayla took a deep sigh as she tried to ignore what he was laying on, and the lack of voices she heard because of it. She had never heard the forest this quiet before, and she had to admit, she didn't like it. She was glad this Human seemed to be open to her helping, so now she didn't have to feel like she owed him anything. She ghosted her fingers over the wound, only allowing feather like touches as she examined him. The gashes were deeper than they had looked with his shirt on, but that wouldn't be a problem. It didn't seem life threatening, and from the surface, it didn't look like it had burst any of his internal organs like the fleshy balloons they were. This man was pretty tough...for a Human. This was, more or less, a flesh wound; even if it was slightly deeper than most. She should be able to heal it in one session, though the fatigue he felt wouldn't be completely gone. She rolled her sleeves up before she rested her hands above the wound. Her palms so close that she could the heat radiating from his flesh and his blood.
"Just a slight warning," she started slowly, her voice still quiet though hearable. "The pain you feel now will spike for a couple of seconds as the skin mends itself. I do have a numbing agent if you like me to apply it first?" She warned and then asked, her eyes glancing up his torso so she could meet his eyes so that she could be sure of the answer. People meant different things from what they said when they want to save face in front of others. And there were two fairly strong men here that would make a man's pride spike to an unbearable degree. If she saw even a hint of him lying just to save face, she would add the ointment whether he said he wanted it or not. She was not going to save a man's pride if he didn't think of the lives he was ending when he used his magic.

Tex just blinked in disbelief, pulling down his hood to reveal the rest of his young face. His eyes were thin with some wrinkles at the corners where darker colored blue scales piled. He stood up, stretching his arms out wide and letting them rest to his hips. A slight frown creased the ends of his mouth, the front of his snout tightened to show a row of pearly whites. "Well i uh..good job team! Ya know..Anyways, imma just.." He began walking towards the dino, giving it a sniff in several areas before opening his mouth wide and biting into the neck. His teeth sunk into the hide just barely. Its tough meat and inedible skin repulsed the poor lizard. The extremely bitter taste caused his face to shrivel up, and he released with some effort. He spat out anything that was in his mouth all so desperately, coughing and scrapping his long tongue with the back end of a knife he dug out from his pack. "I've never tasted somethin' so fooken foul in my life..gads.." he felt his upper jaw with his tongue to discover he lost a tooth in the beasts neck. He shook his head and looked to the ice and the boy and licked his lips. "Ya know, i could always clean that wound there, Ice Queen." He walked to the mammoth from before and bowed.

"Apologies. It got crazy out here. As ive said before, my names Tex. I was heading out west past the forest bout' a hundred meters from ere. As you prolly heard by now, a great chasm opened up that split the dern land in two." He said to recap what hes heard already in one breath, taking a deep one before speaking "So im headin' there as well. Cuz money is money yada yada." He finished, grinning somewhat. His tail swayed from side to side as a happy growl rose in his throat as he began thinking of the relics and the gold.

Victor rather liked her voice, it's slightly deeper pitch giving it a fuller volume--that being shape, rather than intensity. She had asked if he needed a numbing agent, and to that? Probably. He wasn't feeling all that fantastic, though he was worried about the cost. His face was scrunched up in the discomfort of his situation.

"I'd like that, thank you," He answered, but after a moment of contemplation he added-- "Say, what's your name lass?"

He caught a stray comment from one of the commoners on the trail, but ignored it in favour of someone who had some modicum of worth to him.

Yuu Vee Rays Yuu Vee Rays

Rayla made a small, humming sound that seemed to come mainly from her throat instead of her vocal chords as she began rustling through her bag to acquire the numbing agent. She made quick work of the lid and scooped some out with her index and middle finger. "It'll be a tad cold, but I'm sure you can handle it." She warned, though she didn't really give him much time to process it as she applied the ointment lightly. She spread it around the wound, carefully tracing the edges while avoiding getting it inside the wound. It wasn't deadly, but if there was something else that needed healing, she'd be able to tell as she healed the outer flesh. But, if he was numbed inside as well, she wouldn't be able to tell. Though, of course, it didn't seem as such, but she could never be too careful. Once she was finished applying the ointment, she put the jar back in her bag and her attention turned back to the man. Her eyes travelled back up to his eyes, thinking about his question before they travelled back to his wound. She had heard the other man, who seemed to be of reptilian descant, approached the other man. But she paid it no mind as she had work to do.
"It is rather rude to ask someone's name without giving your own." She simply stated as she awaited for the ointment to take effect. Once she sure it had done it's job, she began to work. The magic pooled in her hands which caused them to glow with a faint golden light and his skin started mending. Her concentration seemed to double as she worked on mending his skin, working so that there was no mistakes in either the healing process and in her hands. It was a big wound, even if it was a minor one by her standards, so she didn't want her magic streaming out from the opening she had provided by releasing it from her palms.

Yakov011001 Yakov011001

Victor shivered as she applied the gel, she wasn't lying about how cold it was. He tensed up a tad, until he felt next to nothing. He looked to her rather deadpan face as she worked, and scoffed at her answer to his question.

"It's really not, but I suppose I'll indulge you. I am Victor, Victor Axel Crysalis-Terrathorne." He'd not been out this far before, but considering that he was hired in town by someone who seemingly revered him as a skilled warrior it seemed that some tales of his escapades had reached out into the town of Axelhaven. Though, whether this Elf knew of him was a toss up.

The glowing magic pouring out of her palm was invasive; he felt it filling the crevasses of his wounds and he could feel his skin crawl. It tickled, really. His skin slowly but surely coming back together as it once was. Healing magic felt fucking weird as hell.

- Heh, forming a team already, are we ? A'ight. Name's Jin. Blacksmith, enchanter, weapon summoner, and gunner. Mostly blacksmith.

The mammoth then slightly shakes the hammer to a side, all the metal spikes and swords all over the dead beast quickly dissipate into white smokes.

- And, that's quite the name, pal. I heard peeps with long names like that tend to be from noble bloodlines, eh ?

He says so while watching the elf girl doing her job at healing the guy's wounds.

- ... Just suggestin', next time either of you wanna toss up some ice, lightning or fire at something, lemme in too. I wanna practice this technique of mine.

Now Rayla scoffed...or she would have if she didn't feel so light headed. She guessed she underestimated how much the wound would take out of her to heal. But she didn't stand up just yet since she had to make sure everything had healed properly. She pressed around what was once the wound in a couple of different, checking the feel of the skin and what was underneath the skin. When she was satisfied, she stood up, readjusting her bag's strap to hide her feelings of dizziness. Once she had adjusted to standing upright, she looked down at the man - Victor, he said his name was. Victor Axel Cry something or other. It was too long memorize, so she would just call him Victor. "It is rude, unless you planned on killing me too." She answered, combing her hands through her hair. Despite her work with a rather bloody wound, her hands had remained clean. "And my name is Rayla Harmonier. I run a medicinal shop in Axelhaven, so feel free to stop by the next time you decide to be this careless." She introduced herself with a small bow that was presented with practiced grace. "Though, it won't be free the next time." She added, her stoic façade melting into a softened, kind one when she smiled.
She then looked at the other two, looking each of them up and down. She was searching for any injuries, but it seemed they just ended up helping in the final stretch. So, her work her was done...except, she heard that at least one of them planned on going into the Chasm that had opened up, and that didn't set well with her. He seemed like a nice guy, so the thought of him dying bothered her. But she didn't show it on her face for fear of being called out on it. Instead, she responded to what the supposed blacksmith, Jin, had said. "The next time any of you decide to toy with this destructive of magic, I would like to suggest practicing caution? You've killed so many lives with those attacks." She suggested, setting a hand on the trunk of a nearby tree, her eyes showing the sadness at the tragedy.
