Realistic or Modern LABELED

Having finished up in the office for quite some time, Van had decided that instead of going outside, he’d instead head over to the music room to take a few minutes to practice. Or… Play around with some instruments for a bit. Van wasn’t really like the rest of the other musicians in the group. He didn’t have some instrument that he played for all of his life. He wasn’t some prophet with one either. He was just a kid that happened to know how to play multiple and use their sounds to compose his own music. In a way, it made him different from the others but at the same time, he loved it. He had the privilege of taking samples from each member of the group and using them to make his own music.

Van had been lounging in on of the many chairs situated around the room, a guitar being strummed away at in his hands when he felt his phone vibrate. He’d pause, taking it out of his pocket and seeing it was Lottie. A grin would come to his lips at the name that flashed on his screen. So his best friend was finally here! But she was in the one place he couldn’t particularly be.

Van would make a noise, putting the guitar down gently and responding to the text with his own before standing up with a stretch.

Lottie

I’m in the music room. I can only do a quick wave when I come out. Kinda broke some rules already and don’t want to be seen by them just yet. I’ll see you outside!

He didn’t see his equipment he’d left before so he figured the ones who had set up had taken it outside. Grabbing his bike, Van would make his way outside and hop onto it, riding slowly through the hallways. He would pause by the office, knocking on the window to catch Lottie’s attention and send her a wave before zipping out as one of the secretaries began to yell at him for riding his bike in the halls again. With a snicker, he’d make his way outside.

“Excuse me, excuse me, coming through!” He’d say loudly, being careful not to run into anyone. Lottie was busy with some of the other guys and he knew he’d see her sooner rather than later since he was sure she was in the festival. But for now, texting would be fine.

A twinge of wistfulness seeped into Aleksej. Upon feeling it, he turned his thoughts away from painting but to no avail. His lips nearly curled into a bitter smile, but he stilled himself. Nathaniel's words nearly washed over him but he managed to stay focus enough. He wished painting came as easily to him as it did before. So many canvases had been wasted; a splotch or smatter of paint marking each. Undeniable envy festered in him at how easily his friend could do it. A sigh nearly left the Slovene. Once again, he was being irrational.

"Are you going to finish any of those canvases?" Aleksej smiled. "I remember I used to make bubbles using salt." Briefly, he toyed with the idea of telling Nathaniel about the latest graffiti he had done. No. It was a terribly uninspiring piece of art as was the case with many of his artistic ventures lately. God, he wanted out of this rut.

Aleksej looked out into the crowd, listening to the murmurs which did nothing to distract him from his tired mind. Just as he was about to look away though, his crystal blue gaze landed on a familiar redhead. A faint blush worked its way to his cheeks and he forced it down. It didn't work terribly well and he resigned himself to the red dusting over his cheeks. His heart quickened a little; she looked rather beautiful today.

"Hey Lottie," he greeted. It's been a while. Which, admittedly, was his fault. Maybe he would tell her about it one day. But as it stood, he could barely think about it without the same shaky all-consuming guilt and grief surging up to claim him. Even though it had already been more than a year. "Are you performing for the music festival today?" There were so many things he wanted to talk to her about, but he held his tongue. He looked over to Nathaniel. "Productivity? Hah, I've barely done anything this summer."

Eva Sinclair
.
.

Eva chuckled at her answer, it was so very Estelle. Always wanting to dramatics and theater to let people know just how much power she had. “Yes well, that would be amusing, surprised it hasn’t happened yet but I bet after a summer of not using their brains have left them blind.”

Eva smiled widely at the next comment, it was nice to know that her feelings had been mutual, she missed her friend. “Same, Spain was beautiful but there aren’t many people who have quite the eye for fashion and beauty like you do.” She thought about the next question, the summer with her mother was nice but coming back to her father was always unpleasant.

“It was fine” She said a bit slowly, needing to think about the words she’s using “Me and my mother had a trip to Spain, she said I needed a reward for getting to my final year of school.” So laughed throwing her hair off her shoulders.

She rose her eyebrows when Eva made the announcement about the whispers and Eva giggled shaking her head. If everyone just voiced their opinions out loud more often they might find themselves in a high position in life. She listened to Nathan speaking about his summer “I’d love to see the results of those experiments. One of my favorite artists actually uses metal to create environments in his pieces.”

Finally, she was at the front of the line and grabbed the wristband only holding it in her hand since she had too many bracelets and she organized them on her wrist by color lightest to darkest and the wrist band had no place in that lineup. Though she was glad to be out of that hot and stuffy hallway.

.:Charlotte "Lottie" Day:.

“I, uh…”

Embarrassment boiled under Lottie’s skin, coloring her freckled cheeks a subtle pink, as Nathaniel Eve secured the red band around her wrist. It was a kind gesture, but she wondered if perhaps she came off as simpleminded upon arrival. No, Lottie. She swatted away the thought like a fly buzzing in her head. It was silly to assume that he would come to that conclusion, but from the extra attention of the school’s faculty, she was always under the impression that people thought that she was in a constant state of needing assistance. As far as she knew, none of the students at Kingdom Crest High School knew her secret, save for Van. The realization was a breath of fresh air.

Now, she was simply blushing from the consciousness of Nathaniel’s proximity.

“Oh, thanks, Nathan,” she managed with a friendly smile.

Her attention was directed towards to office’s entrance, hoping for the warmth in her face to recede. Otherwise, she refused to face either boys (or the entirety of the Beloved crew, for that matter) and allow them to see her discombobulated state. She seldom cared about the opinions of others, but no one wanted to look foolish.

Pull it together, Lottie.

Her phone buzzed in her pocket, showing Van’s name and as if on cue, she spotted him through the window. She waved back at him as he ran off into the distance and she could not help but smirk at his antics. She texted back:

To: Van
I promise I’ll find you out there!! Be free!
Message Delivered.
While her friend served as the perfect distraction, he did little to help shake away the bright hue of her face.

Her fingers curled into the hard material of her flute case as she absentmindedly tapped her nails against its plastic surface. It lasted only a moment, but with every beat, she felt the color drain from her face. It was perfect timing too; Alek was addressing her and the last thing she wanted was one of the few times they got to see one another be tainted by her looking like a idiot.

She bit down on her bottom lip, tipped her head to the side and considered the question: “Well, to tell the truth… I’m not sure yet.”

It had nothing to do with nerves; Lottie was not the nervous type when it came to performing, but she did fear wasting someone else’s time. She played a myriad of different genres with her flute, ranging from classical sounds to the just as complex compositions of flute beat boxing. Lately, she had been working on something, but whether or not Kingdom Crest High would be receptive of it had yet to be determined.

It didn’t matter, she supposed, since she didn’t care much for winning and it would hardly hurt her feelings.

She hummed for a moment and contemplated the idea. Van would tell her to do it. And as she fixated her eyes on Alek, she wondered what he would suggest. To her surprise, heat rose in her cheeks again, though she did her best to ignore it. What was it with her?

“What do you think?" she laughed. "Should I give everyone the greatest and shortest flute concert of a lifetime?”

EDEN SUMMERS[/bg]
"Pari! Hiii" Eden sung out as she took another bite from her plate, her arm slipping underneath of Sabina's the warmth of her skin giving her a familiar feeling of peace. She found herself leaning her head on Sabina's shoulder as Pari began to talk about Killy. Every time he was mentioned Eden felt her stomach bubble and she was wondering if it was the pork already settling or was it just the thought of someone who was mean just to be..well mean. How did that benefit him in life? She thought back to the times before in their digital club, he didn't say much but there was that one time he pulled her hair so much that she decided to chop it off..Slipping her arm from Sabina's she absentmindedly played at her now short locks that were cut into to pixie style, she still remembered the look on Sabina's face when the stylist snipped away her locks that Eden took pride in.

"Don't worry" she had told her, "It will grow back!"

Now that Eden thought about it, did she cut just for him to stop touching it? Had she let him influence her choice? A small frown crossed her pouty lips but it was quickly erased. Why were they still talking about him? He was walking away from the festival and into the school, they wouldn't have to think about him anymore and she was glad of that.

"Whateves, his skills can't touch mine, but yeah! Milo! I've never heard of it, Sabina and I was gonna get some, come with us Pari"

"Oh you know, none of the musicians here are like...well signed, so they are amateurs. Good ones, though!' Eden made sure to add because she didn't want to knock anyone's craft. "They'll be stars one day, but I don't think anyone's preformed yet, maybe we should get close to the stage after we get milo 'cause I want to try it."

Her arm was slipped right back underneath Sabina's and she tossed her plate into the nearby trash can now that she was completely finished, and by finished there was still half a plate full of food that she couldn't stomach because now every time she thought of barbecue, Killy's face popped into her mind, it would be awhile until she ate pork again.

“Nope. Hell no.” Issiah retorted first to Eyree’s request, he knew what she was asking the moment she had to go and extend her “you know”, that drawl out always meant she was up to something, and each time she was they wound up in some type of trouble. They were going to school, and that’s where they were going to say. He gave his head a firm nod to reassure himself that he would not under any circumstances change his mind but one quick look over at the big blue eyes had him already questioning if they really had to be at the festival, and the fact that there wasn’t any attendance—not really. Then came that smile, and Issiah and to tuck his bottom lip into his mouth to suppress the smile that was forming, this didn’t help too much because the dimples in is cheeks made it known that he was smiling and that the seed of Eyree was planted and watering into fruition in his mind.

“I dunno, chula, what are we gonna do, huh?”
Issiah cut his eyes over to her, raising his eyebrows in question to what exactly she had planned on their last day of summer. He took the turn that lead them to Kingdom Crest and by the looks he had to say he was impressed, the school had decided to go all out and he had to let out a soft groan…the sound of leaving started to sound better.

Parking the car, he placed the gear in parked and took his seatbelt. Turning in his seat, he rested his arm on the steering wheel and looked over at his best friend.

“Aight. We go in, sign the paper and dip. But we aren’t doing this for the rest of the semester, I’m not getting caught like last year.”

She knew exactly what he was talking about when she convinced him to leave during the lunch period and drive two towns over just to try this Caribbean restaurant for his birthday and he appreciated it, but the next day they were both given two weeks of detention. He was still waiting for her to make that up to him.

“Deal?”

“I’m going to be late, tonight Rosa. It’s revival night at the church, are you coming?”

“I should be there, mama.”
The Latina sat at the vanity table, staring at her freshly cleansed and moisturized face, legs crossed as she held her lush pink towel closed with one hand, her body tilted upward as she examined her unblemished skin, tilting her head up she ran her free hand underneath her neck, perfectly manicured nails with French tips grazing the skin. Her nails came to a stop on the blemish on her neck, a light mark that was just two shades darker than her caramel complexion. A frown graced her face momentarily, but her brows knitted together in frustration.

“That will be an extra 300.” She murmured to herself before dropping her hand to pick up the iPhone that sat on the end o f the vanity table, encased with a Chanel phone case. Scrolling through her contacts she stopped at Daddy #3 and started typing a text.

‘You left a mark, sweetie ☹, what will people think?”
She sent the message and placed the phone back on her table before standing. Turning her back towards the mirror, she let the towel go and let it slide down her curves before falling to the plush white rug that surrounded her vanity, with a almost inaudible “thud”. She stared at her backside, one hand trailing down her spine to her rest on her well-equipped bottom and down the back of her thighs. Dark brown eyes scanned every inch of her body to make sure there was any stray marks that she was missing from her lover from last night.

Lifting one foot up on the small stool that was in front of the table, her hand slid down her freshly waxed legs, feeling no razor bumps was the best thing to Rosa, and the money that paid for her monthly wax sessions was even better, the thought of just how much she made last night made a smile grace her full lips. Dropping her leg down from the stool, Rosa made her way to her bed and dropped down to her knees to reach underneath and remove one of her many louboutin shoebox cases. The ones underneath he rbed however, were full of something othert than glamous shoes. Opening the lid of one, she reached up on her bed to grab the purse she used last night and opened it’s content Four rolled stacks of money were dropped into the shoe boxes, to each one she gave a count

“One thousand, two thousand, three thousand, four thousand.”
Her smile broadened at the money and she thought that maybe deuring a dull night with the pastor wasn’t too bad, at least it paid well.

“Rosa, hurry up, I want us to read this morning.”
The sound of her mother’s voice broke her out of her thoughts and she put the lid back on the box but then hesitated, Opening it back up, she took one rolled stack out and placed it back in the purse. She would definitely go shopping today.

Ooh, that reminded her. Grabbing the phone off the vanity, she walked into her small, yet comfortable wall in closet and began to move hangers around to find what she wanted to wear today, just then Daddy #3 messaged her back, his message popping up across the screen “Sorry love, will an extra 5, make up?”

“Oooh daddy…”
She cooed softly to herself before sending him a kissy face emoji of approval. That reminded her…

Clicking on “Bestie Knight” She sent a quick text to Kaia

“Shopping??” She asked her friend before focusing back on getting dressed, today was going to be lovely.

Pulling up to Kingdom Crest, Rosa raised an eyebrow at the festivities outside and realized that it was the music festival, something she had no interest in but she wasn’t about to miss out on a free day.

“I could be at the mall.
” She said to no one as she checked her make up in the mirror and opened the car door and grabbing her clutch. At least she looked fabulous in her light weight pink trench coat and beige open toe heels. Stepping out of her car, she closed the door with her hip and made her way to the office, at least showing up late gave her more room to walk and to a not so crowded room but there were still a few familiar faces, but Rosa had no intention of speaking, especially when she didn’t see Kaia anywhere nearby, she’d waited in line patiently, her eyes locked on the screen of her phone.

It was only on the rare occasion that Hadley was an indecisive person, he generally weighed between choices and thought strategically about things and then made a decision based on that. However, with things such as a piece of writing, a book, or a party, there were simply too many great factors sometimes and so he counselled somebody he trusted - in this case, it was two someones in the form of his close friends.

Hadley nodded to Cami, signalling that his door would always be open if she ever wanted to use his studio but a chuckle escaped at her next comment, Toga parties were typically college parties to be fair. "You can't deny that I would run the best fraternity you would have ever seen in your life though." Hadley sipped from his cup as he turned to listen to Tati's opinion, nodding along with her verbal contemplation over the options. You would have to be blind not to read that they both mildly leaned towards the 1920s themed party, having a Gatsby-esque party would certainly please his mother, and his father had been inspired by the book so could help with the decorum. "I appreciate the help deciding. I'll probably go with the 1920s themed party so I hope you like Gin fizz and Planter's punch," he grinned, but that grin faded as quickly as it appeared when a new person invaded their group followed by the familiar Moses. A rather amusing situation unfolded before him, Hadley rolled his eyes at Moses' feeble attempt at deducing the situation. "Just ignore Moses, that's what I do," he remarked nonchalantly as he used said shorter friend as an arm rest.

Hadley spun his head to face June upon hearing his greeting, offering him a small smile as June patted him on the shoulder. "Hey June, it's good to see you-" Hadley paused after noticing Jay, staring at her for a second with a clear look of disapproval before returning his attention back to June. "As I was saying, it's good to see you. Certain other people? Not so much. But yeah, my summer was great, lots of exploring and seeing new cultures, I've got to show you some of the dancing I recorded in the Caribbean some time." He said, gulping down the rest of his caffeinated beverage afterwards. Another new person nearly took out Moses while passing by and Hadley took the time he was apologising in to stand up straight again, throwing his empty cup into a nearby bin. The guy he now knew as Kevin shut down Moses' belief he had done anything wrong, though a person who was adequate at reading people like himself got a hint of the opposite; it wasn't Hadley's place though, and quite frankly, he didn't care. He would have struck up a conversation with Kevin had he not chosen to speak to the demon spawn that seemed have forced her presence on the group. Also known as Jay.

The crackling of the PA system coming to life caused Hadley to tilt his head slightly and clench his jaw in discomfort, the school surely couldn't be that tight as to not be able to afford a new one. He was glad to hear the end of the announcement that all students performing at the festival were to report to the stage so the actual music part of the event could commence. Scanning the now quite large group of people surrounding him, he took a step in the direction of the area the audience were being told to gather. "Good luck to everyone performing, only break a leg if you think it'll add comedic effect though," he sarcastically encouraged, as he turned to wait for the other people watching the show to join him.

Hugo watched Kaia elegantly throw the doors open and bash in the sun's rays. “Someone like making an entrance” He said with a laugh walking out as well, it was a nice day though. The morning breeze was still blowing and the sun’s heat was steaming down ontop of them.

The festival seemed to be filled with so much life, being around so many people just filled Hugo up with excitement. “Oh how generous” Hugo said at Kaia treat them comment. He was not as good as weaving through crowds of people usually accidently hitting people’s shoulders or just getting in the way. If it was just crowded here he couldn’t imagine how bad it would be when the concrete started.

He looked around at all the different food stands, he had to admit the school went all out for this festival and it showed by the food and music. “I’m gonna get me a grilled hotdog!” Hugo announced “Join me brothens!” And he walked over to wait in line. "We better hurry looks like people are clearing out to see the performers"

"Loud and fattening indeed. I reached a point where I only pretended to eat, then would go out for something healthier later on." He laughed then as he followed behind Kaia, content to let her lead the way. it was easy to him, he didn't particularly feel like making decisions, and he had to admit his view of her was rather nice. Yes, shame on him, but anyone would have to admit she was a beautiful girl.

"Your treat huh? In that case, I'll have one of everything." The playful banter was fun for Vince, especially with a mild tone of flirtations. Of course, his voice always sounded like that, so there was really no difference to everyone else.

At Hugo's mention of a hotdog, Vincent's face turned to one of disgust. "I'm a solid good on the hotdog, but I'll probably get a drink. And he did, a Sprite was all he needed. Once they moved through the line and got all they needed, Vince held out his arm to Kaia in a show of chivalry. "Shall we go to the festival.?"

June smiled brightly as he was greeted by his friends, stumbling slightly as Tatianna pulled him towards her after glancing to his sister. She could feel the heat rolling off her and into him. 'I warned you there would be tension Jay....' he thought steadying himself in his new postion. "My summer was okay.." glancing at his sister out of reflex. Luckily, she didn't seem focused on him. Instead her head was buried in her phone.

"I spent most of it in the practice room, but other than that I just hung around at parks and did a few performances. Nothing remotely interesting." He said, receiving a pat on the back from Hadley."Good to see you to Hadley." Noticing the hostility towards Jay, and the building tension. He sent them both a pleading look to not draw attention. "Oh! I can't wait to see them. I hope I won't be out beat by your performance." He said with a joking smile.

The intercom buzzed to life just as he started to speak again. "I believe that's my cu-" he got cut off by Hadley's comment. He wasn't sure why, but his comment seemed a little upsetting to June , but he smiled anyway. Watching his sister move and engage in this conversation with Kevin. He gave a faint wave to the two , and a nod to Hadley and Tatianna . "Well, I'm off to perform. " he gave a glance to Hadley. 'No fights while I'm gone.' He thought , watching his sister motion for Kevin to move up a little so she could get closer and see, while still have a conversation.

He turned and walked towards the stage. Hoping he wouldn't actually break a leg. Because who knows what Jay has done to make his day miserable.....

"You gettin' a little too old for me to be walkin' you to school still ain't you?" He teased to his little sister as they walked through the cracked concrete streets of Pauper Court to Pauper middle. The sun was beating down on his skin, the flesh of his arms open to the suns rays in the long black tank top he wore. His chain bounced against his chest with every step he took, the type of outfit he was wearing not matching with the sort of income his household received and hinted towards illegal activities to acquire it. "Shut up! You gonna let your little sista walk alone in these streets?" Noannie said looking up towards her much taller brother with that know-it-all look her face always displayed. He gave her head a slight push as he laughed "Nah, never alone, but maybe ya boyfriend can step up and start walking you himself." He said looking over to her with a grin as she stomped her foot, her face scrunching up into a pout, crossing her arms as she shouted "For the last time I don't have a boy friend!". He laughed again at her reaction giving her head another push. "Damn right. It better stay that way, let these fast ass lil boys know that if they do my sister wrong imma beat they ass. 'Sides you don't gotta worry 'bout no boys, you in the seventh damn grade, all I did seventh grade was keep my head in 'em books." He said glancing down over to Noannie as she rolled her eyes, moving her braids from her face. "Oh please, you got kicked out of Pauper middle first week of 6th grade." she said sticking her tongue out "Fine, but you ain't gone follow in my footsteps that's for damn sure.".

Finally the pair neared the entrance of the dingy middle school that Eli had gotten expelled from for fighting a couple years back. One would wonder if their child was checking into a middle school or a state penitentiary with the amount of security guards and police officers stationed around the door. The swarms of kids filled the campus with loud voices and excitement for the start of their first day of school, some kids had already started scuffling while the majority were greeting each other with hugs and cheerful shouts of their friends names. It's almost as if they hadn't seen these same people around the neighborhood all summer.

Eli stopped nearby the entrance of the school as he looked down at Noannie, crouching down to her height as he smiled over to her.
"Seventh grade is a big year and you are gonna run right through it. Just remember what I said Na', you the smartest kid this family ever seen and I'm proud of you. You the queen of this sch-" His speech was interrupted with the loud screams of "NANA!" as three girls rushed over to her and wrapped her in a hug that looked like it could shatter bones. He laughed a bit shaking his head as he slowly raised himself from the crouched position before one of the girls decided it would be appropriate to say "And hello to your fine ass brother.". Eli blinked scratching his head at the lack of a filter on that child before he decided against a response turning around and saying "Have a good day Na'" before he continued on to begin his senior year at Kingdom Crest High School.

Eli held the straps of his backpack as he walked through the semi-busy streets of Pauper court. He waved to some people on the block as he passed by. Whether it be regular people, dealers or even junkies, everyone seemed to know his name and that was in part because of his father. He felt the vibrations thrum through his fresh 11's as the sound of drums thumping and bass blasting through a car pulled up beside him.
"Run your pockets bitch." Said the deep voice from inside as he rolled down the window a .22 aimed towards Eli's chest.

"Man shut ya ass up, always playing some games." Eli said to his best friend Jakai through the window a smirk on his face as he opened the car door and took a seat inside of the Impreza dapping up his friend as he rolled his windows down. "Who said I was playin'? That gold chain and those 11's on your feet lookin' like a yummy snatch. That outfit too fly for you." The boy joked as he put the car into drive stomping on gas as the wheels screeched behind them. "You know I got that Justin Beiber please believe it, imma superstar you know I gotta look the part. Only thing your dark ass gonna snatch is a ticket if you keep stomping on that gas, you don't even have your damn license." Eli said in response his hand hanging from the window as the wind blew hard and cold against his skin. "But you still in the car though right? Exactly." Said Jakai as Eli waved him off.

| Location: School Parking Lot |

"You know we gone need you on the block tonight E." Jakai said as he pulled up towards the front of the school glancing over at his friend a more serious look on his face. "Man you know I got practice. Season gone come quick, we gotta be ready and I'm not settling for anything but every record broken my senior year." Eli said as he began to pull his back pack back on over his shoulders. "Always with that football shit man... Fa sho' it's cool you a star and all but at the end of the day, football ain't cuttin' a check for ya moms and Noannie right now and you know for damn sure all 'em rich kids on the team ain't gone ride for you when it's really time. Stop playin' E, I'll catch you on the block tonight." Said Jakai shaking his head as Eli stepped out from the car leaning his head under the roof of the car as they spoke. "Aight Kai, fa sho' I'll catch you... Aye, do me a favor and attend a single class." Eli said with a smirk as he pulled his head from the car and shut the door. "Shit, If you dropped out with me a long time ago you wouldn't have had to ask that favor. Have fun being the brokest dude in school and ugly on top of it." Said Jakai as he zoomed off guffawing at his own joke, Eli flipped him off in the distance a small smirk on his face before he let a breath out looking around him. It was his final year in this place, a place Jakai may have seen as a shit hole but one Eli had known to love. It was the place that was giving him a future, away from Jakai and the streets that followed him and part of him was happy to be back. Especially as the smell of food and the thrum of music hit him all at once. It was time for the music festival.

Eli knew what he had to do, making his way towards the office hurriedly as the line was beginning to die down and move into the festival. As Eli made his way through the halls he heard his name being called from a number of different people, to witch he smiled and waved at, not in the mood to have that 'how was your summer' conversation. Though part of his mind was hoping for a certain face to be in those halls and greet him. Eden Summers, a girl who had made his summer vacation thirty times better with late nights chilling together or on facetime or introducing him to madden and a hell of a lot more then just that. If there was one face he wanted to see through these halls, it had to be hers. He made his way to the end of the line going to remove his phone from his pocket once a familiar face caught his eye. Rosalina Gonzalez, looking just about eighty times finer then the last time he saw her. Eli bit his lip, cutting his way through the line to where he was right behind her.

He tapped her shoulder that slight smirk on his face as he looked down over at her.
"Rosalina Gonzalez... You gone have to be my prom date lookin' that good. But then again, who got time to wait 'till prom when I can take you out right now?" He flirted as his lips parted into a larger smile. "How you doin' Rosalina, the summer sure did treat you right." He said eyeing her up and down "We gone be quiet the duo this year won't we? You cheering my name and me putting one hundred on every team we play. Imma take us to states this year mami you watch me, just as long as you wear my number on that pretty face of yours." He said with a grin winking once more before glancing back at the line, obviously frustrated students with the way he simply cut past them to flirt. Wasn't like he cared, it was his senior year, his year, and he wasn't just going to run the football down the leagues throats, he was going to run this school.

Jay watched as almost instantly, June got pulled into the stirring conversation. Who honestly cared what happened over the summer? That was the past. If they wanted to know so bad,
why not call or something. Rolling her eyes, She nodded and smiled when Tatiana looked her way. She only got a nod out of the girl, before her brother was pulled away and engaged into the banter.

Hadley noticed their presence and she felt his stare. She just smiled innocently and focused on the conversation. When Hadley brought up his summer, and dancing was mentioned, her nose crinkled and she was glad she heard her name called. Surprised at first, because everyone so far ignored her presence. "Ah~ Hello Kevin." Some of her frustration left her as she moved to her only ally in a den of haters. "Hmm. Classes? a bunch of math ones I think. "

"What about your Classes?" She asked, looking up as the intercom system cut on. Even though, there was nothing above them but the sky, it was an old habit. She grabbed her phone and started scrolling through whatever article she last had loaded up, While giving Kevin 97% of her attention. Using her free hand she motioned forward as June left to preform. "Can we move up? So I can see my brother preform?" She asked him, Taking a step forward. She smiled sweetly as she could at him, her image hiding her true nature. It was loud, and really starting to get on her nerves. 'I will have to ask June to drive me home after this is over. No way i'm staying here all day. Get home and work. He can hang out later. ' She thought, sighing tiredly. 'I've already got a headache and the day isnt even started.' She thought, waving back to her brother, smiling innocently. Though when she followed his gaze to Hadley, she shrugged.

Rosalina Gonzalez

There was a familiar feeling on Rosalina’s shoulder, one that reminded her that she was still standing in line, still waiting for a band to get placed on her arm, and that meant, she was still surrounded by other students. Her brows furrowed and relaxed before she swung around, whoever tapping her shoulder getting a mouth full of her thick locks, the scent of peaches would fill their nostrils since she lathered her freshly washed hair in her favorite fruit scent. Chocolate orbs locked on to a familiar face and immediately they rolled at the sight.

Elijah Riley. Even though Rosalina wasn’t too fond of most people that attended Kingdom Crest, and she particularly liked to keep to herself without any involvement with half of the student body, she knew Elijah, who wouldn’t know the star of the football team?

“Prom date? Please, you can’t even buy me a cup of coffee.” She said, a small smirk tugging at the corner of her lips before she turned back around giving the tall male the cold shoulder, but that didn’t stop him from talking to her. Big brown eyes rolled up to the ceiling but that didn’t stop a smile from spreading across her full lips when he paid her the compliment about what good the summer did for her, and good it does, indeed. During her break, Rosa invested all her time and energy into building her modeling portfolio, working with different photographers that she met up with on Model Mayhem to give her just the right looks she needed for her portfolio to be noticed, and it didn’t help that there was an occasional rich, talented one with salt and pepper hair in the mix that was more than helpful to her cause.

Happy to have someone notice the hard work she put into keeping her body right during the summer, the Latina shrugged her shoulder, it couldn’t hurt to give Eli some attention. She turned back around, arms folded underneath her chest just as he gave her body a look over and she found herself doing the same, letting her eyes roam about his muscular frame.

“At least you recognize beauty when you see it.”
She said with a conceited shrug of her shoulders before dropping her hands from underneath her chest once her phone gave a light buzz. Paying no mind to the rest of what Eli was saying, she glued her eyes to her phone as the notification of her bank popped across, transfer transaction completed. A broad smile crossed her soft facial features, exposing the pearly whites in her mouth.

“…just as long as you wear my number on that pretty face of yours."
Finally, she looked up from her phone, catching the last end of Eli’s conversation. She raised one brow in confusion and gave him a look over before her left hand, pointing to her ring finger, that was bare.

“The only duo will be when I’m married, and it won’t be to you.”
She said, shutting the football player down coolly, but inwardly Rosalina felt her heart fluttered and she despised the light color of red that rose to her cheeks, she could feel the warmth there. Quickly, she turned on her heels, using her perfectly manicured hand to intentionally flip her hair back to brush against Eli’s face before pushing to people who stood in front of her giggling about the event outside, out of the way and make her way to the front desk to finally sign in and get her wrist band.

“You can walk me to the festival though.” She turned her attention back to Eli, handing him one of the orange wrists bands, tapping her finger on the attendance paper to her nearly perfect penmanship, his name written down right underneath hers.

“The only duo will be when I’m married, and it won’t be to you.”
Eli licked his bottom lip as the Latina rejected him once more, causing him to laugh a bit at how she chose to shut him down this time. It was the usual with Rosalina, though her words didn't put even the slightest dent in his ego or his confidence, it only made him want to try harder. "You sure about that?" He said cocking his head as she tossed her hair partially on his face, the sweet smell filling his nostrils and causing his body to loosen up even more. He looked on as her curvy figure walked towards the desk his eyes tracing every curve from head to toe before it finally returned with a wristband of his own.

He nodded in thanks taking the wrist band from the Latina's soft hands, making sure to linger on the contact between them for as long as he could before pulling the orange wristband high on his forearm. Never moving his eyes from hers he chuckled at her request or rather demand in her tone.
"Glad I have your permission." He said jokingly "We do look good side by side don't we?" He said reaching his arm out to link with hers as the pair continued on towards the Music Festival.

"So we're gonna keep playing these games this year again?" He said with a smirk looking down and over at her as they walked to the music festival. "Well, don't think I wasn't prepared for another year of cat and mouse. Only this year the cat got faster. Imma catch you Rosa, and then you won't have to fight all those feelings you have inside." He said teasingly with the last bit as he gave her a playful nudge.

There was an expanse of people, the smell of BBQ still wafting through the air as musicians hurried with their guitars and other instruments to the stage. People were beginning to line up in front of the stage in anticipation for the upcoming performances. Eli wondered who it would be to go up first, and it crossed his mind that if the boy had any sort of musical talent he would own that stage. He would have to wait to get his spotlight Friday night when the school would watch him hurdle and run through defenders like a pro in a peewee game.

He then realized he was standing next to someone with the talents suited for the stage as he quickly glanced back down to Rosalina with wide excited eyes.
"Rosa you gotta go up there and recite one of your poems!" He smiled brightly to her an encouraging look in his eyes "Come on, the stage could use a pretty face and your worst poem can win the crowds hearts easily. You gotta go up there!"

Checking out her nails as she waited for the rest of her clique to get their wristband, Estelle looked over towards Aleksej as he came to stand next to her. Shaking her head, she nodded, responding with a chide, "Children will be children. Someone needs to teach them how to mind their manners. Whispering is quite rude and defiles one's character." Deciding not to directly look at Aleksej, as it was impolite to stare, Estelle continued facing ahead, not wanting to put him in an awkward position or question him about his skateboarding incident again. She knew when to drop a subject. His face truly a sight to see, and it only made her feel compelled to reach into her bag once more for her concealer.

However, when he had mentioned that not all see her as Queen, she gave a small smile, "That is true, not everyone does. But, a reign is never peaceful, now is it? It is no fun if everyone decided to listen and become puppets. That is quite boring. Though, there are limits to one's idiocy." But, once Nathan rolled up next to the both of them, her smile disappeared as he spoke of his parent's smothering him with wanting to spend time with him. But, she had listened intently on Nathan's musing, "Oh, I would love to see your canvasses, Nathan. It has been a while since I have greeted your parents as well. You were always an artist in my eyes." She spoke softly, her mood quite pleasant until a girl, Charlotte also came into the circle. Estelle had always made it her mission to know each and every one of her classmates and students in Kingdom Crest, it was, afterall, her duty to know her "people". But, her eyes narrowed slightly as Charlotte didn't bother to say hello, but Estelle decided to brushed it off when Eva had sauntered over towards her.

Deciding that she found Charlotte not only rude but the boys being engrossed in conversation with her terribly standoffish, Estelle turned her back on them, focusing on just her girls. She had heard Nathan speaking of his excitement of the music festival and merely nodded at him, slightly angry with him. Speaking directly towards Eva and Tasia, she signaled them to head out the doors with her and into the quad, "Shall we head on then?" She questioned before turning her attention towards the other three, nodding, "Adieu." Estelle said friskly as she maneuvered herself through the circle, finding an opening space as she walked passed the three of them but not before glancing at Nathan, nodding at him before walking away.

Soon, the imbecile of the schools decided to make way for her as she smiled politely, glad they were using their brains for once. "We should make plans to vacation together over the summer, Eva. I believe it would be a fascinating trip seeing as we will be graduating. One last taste of freedom before being busy with adult responsibilities." Once she was outside in the quad, her eyes roamed around at the festivities, listening to the music as it went in her ear and out. She knew Eva would have followed her as she missed her friend, but also as she was the loyal one to her at the moment. It wasn't Nathan's fault, however, her angry was slowly subsiding as she threw away those thoughts and focused at the event at hand. If anything, no one knew the girl was angry, as she always remained calm and collected. At hearing the announcement that Van Wellson was performing soon, Estelle looked around, "Eva, what shall we do first? Head to Student Government to make sure preparations are okay or should we listen to music? It is quite early still, and I have decided you can make the calls just for right now."

Kaia tried not to grimace at Hugo's enthusiastic first choice of food. Instead, she chuckled lightly, shaking her head gently, indulgently. As it was, the corn dog she had selected was borderline too greasy for her right away in the morning. But the young blonde had always taken great pains when it came to her figure and she saw no reason why she shouldn't indulge herself on something a little fatty and terrible for her. "It really is incredible the size of this thing. The school really did go all out this year. Hopefully it's better than that cheesy carnival they try to do to ease the transition from summer to school," she remarked mildly, polishing off the rest of her food before wiping her fingers daintily on a napkin.

Just then, the single high-toned beep of the intercom system crackling to life sounded throughout the courtyard, announcing that the concert would be starting soon. Kaia crumpled the napkin in her hand, chucking it towards the nearest trash can. It hit the rim before bouncing out and she rolled her blue eyes, bending to pick it up and throw it away properly. "If only I weren't so caring towards the environment," she grumbled, her voice insouciant. Checking to make sure the hem of her shorts would still technically pass the hemline restriction portion of the dress code, she felt her phone vibrate in her back pocket. She pulled it out, seeing that she had a few unread messages, but the most recent from her dearest friend Rosa. Kaia lit up at the content of the text message, tapping out a quick reply of Of course! Anything to get me out of volunteering at the church tonight before she looked up to see Vince extending his arm.

"Why Vince, how verra thoughtful of you," she replied, affecting the most twangy impersonation of a southern belle she could manage, looping her arm through his. "Yes, let's go! I'm eager to see this concert." She was also eager to scope out the student body, see who had changed and who hadn't over the summer, which of her regulars might still be her regulars and which new heated glances she might indulge. But she'd rather keep the extent of her raging hormones quiet around Vince... at least for now. Turning her head to peer over her shoulder, she glanced at Hugo. "Are you coming? Or should we just meet you there?"

Eyree Sutherland

"The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is practice"
- Vladimir Horowitz

Location: Izzy's car | Scenario: hanging out the passenger side
Mood: Thrilled | Outfit: Comfy | With: Issiah | Tags: Neri Neri

As soon as she saw the dimples forming in his cheeks, she knew she had him. Her look was triumphant and she leaned back in the car seat, practically preening with satisfaction, the aura coming off her tinged with gloating. It flickered briefly when he asked where they should go; Eyree hadn't actually expected to get this far. Actually, she had never intended dragging Izzy into it. She had figured she'd drive herself to school, check in, and float out of the parking lot before anyone noticed (and she was short enough that no one seemed to pay too much attention to her). But with Issiah now acting as chauffeur and her only ride to and from wherever she needed to go, she had to reevaluate. She didn't have long to think, though, as the truck made the turn into the main entrance to the school grounds. The closer they got to the parking lot, the more in focus the rows of food stands and the looming stage that had been set up for the special event became.

Eyree groaned at the sight, suddenly very secure in her decision to leave. Music was nice and all, but not when she had to sit still and listen to it for three hours without interruption. "Deal," she replied hastily, not even registering everything he had said, but wanting to get away from all this pomp and circumstance as soon as she could. A crowd or setup of this size would not have bothered her if it were a gymnastics meet where her mind could be occupied with stretching, routines, and staying hydrated, but this music festival was another beast entirely, one that the raven-haired gymnast was very eager to leave behind. Without further thought or word, she stumbled from the truck, slinging her small canvas backpack over her shoulder and marching towards the attendance office. Thankfully, the line had begun to dwindle now that the concert was about ready to start. Izzy quickly caught up to her, his longer legs able to keep stride with her own short ones easily. Eyree wasted no time in scribbling her name on the sheet, her penmanship remarkably neat and beautiful despite her indifference about most things and the hasty way she wrote (she blamed her mother for making her learn to write cursive "the Russian way").

She didn't wait for the office attendant to stick the bracelet on her wrist, snatching it straight out of the young gentleman's hand and waltzing out the doors. The offending piece was promptly shoved to the bottom of the bag where she was sure to forget about it. "Ooh! I smell falafel. Give me five minutes." She pranced off, her steps quick and light, a little blue-eyed fairy floating through the lingering spots of people. She returned to the truck exactly three minutes later, a small paper plate filled with food. "I didn't eat much for breakfast," she said in way of explanation, clambering back into the passenger side of the vehicle. "Okay, so what sounds good for our last day of summer? The beach? Oooh, there's a new arcade along the boardwalk about three towns west! Right along the pier!"

Nathan found himself shifting underneath Estelle's praise. She had always been far more generous with him than he probably deserved. Plus, he had never been super comfortable with any sort of praise or accolades. In his mind, he was still a dabbler, someone who had only just begun to dip his toe into the water of these new hobbies, but had yet to learn to swim in them. Flustered by both Estelle's and Aleksej's more reserved interest in his work, he shrugged. "They're really not worth doing anything more with. They're just little eight by eight canvas squares and I more wanted to test how the items reacted with the paint. I mean, maybe I'll paint something now knowing what I know but..." he trailed off, suddenly dubious of how much time he'd actually be able to devote to art this year. His piano playing had always taken the fore when it came to free time, something about the rhythm of it, the mathematical nature of it helping to soothe his often harried mind and thoughts.

"But I'll have to try salt. Thanks for the suggestion!" He glanced over to see Estelle's stylishly draped shoulder turned away from him and he had the distinct feeling that he had been dismissed. He blinked once or twice, trying to figure out if the sudden chill was directed at him and what he could have possibly done to earn it, when Lottie's sheepish admission rattled him from his thoughts. He'd have plenty of time to dwell on her ire later and he was positive that she would come around later, once she had gotten whatever invisible slight he'd apparently showed her. While the redhead's question hadn't been directed specifically at him, Nathan shifted his weight to his other leg and cleared his throat to give his own opinion. "Well, it would certainly be a welcome change of pace," he commented. "I mean, I don't know for sure but I'm assuming there will be a lot of pianists and guitarists up there and that's great and all, but who can compete with a wicked flute solo?" His accompanying grin was hesitant and shy, as if he wasn't quite sure if what he had said was even remotely funny or complimentary.

Oh boo. I was so ready for some first day drama. Camilla sighed as the scene between the two boys didn't play out as she'd hope. She secretly loved drama as long as she or her friends weren't the one involved. As more and more people started joining their group Camilla began to feel awkward and out of place, especially since there was definitely some tension between one of the newcomers and her friends. This is almost like a year ago when I just got here. She didn't know many of the people even though they all seemed to know each other, whether they liked each other or not. She'd recognize a few faces here and there from working at Java but none that she knew like how she knew Hadley or Tati. She hid her awkwardness by pulling out her phone and responding to Issiah's text. 'Maybe? You better!' She rolled her eyes at his teasing antics.

An announcement came over the noise of the crowd asking for performers to report to the stage. "Finally," she sighed. It was a great excuse to slip away from the group of people that started gathering around what was once a trio of Gurus. "Well, that's my cue guys, wish me luck!" She quickly waved and started briskly making her way towards the stage which was some distance away from the tent. I'm not even sure what order we're supposed to perform in... she thought as she was nearly backstage. Camilla removed one of her bag's straps off her shoulder as she fished for a jumpdrive she prepared for the music festival. It contained the instrumentals of a few of the songs she considered singing, she had a few Lana Del Rey and SZA songs as she also loved to listen to them but she had a few other songs from other artistes like Rihanna and Sia.

Her nerves were starting to get to her and she still hadn't settled on a song even though she would be performing very soon. It's not too late to drop out right? She remembered the excitement in Tati's voice and Hadley's encouragement when she mentioned she'd be singing. Why am I nervous? I've sang in front of people before... She wasn't afraid of performing. She was afraid of making a mistake and being ridiculed like at her old school. Sure, it wouldn't be as bad but the thought still ruffled her feathers. You can do this. If not for yourself at least do it for your friends.

She noticed one of the guys who Tatiana spoke to was also performing. She almost struck a conversation with him but decided against it. She still had to figure out which song she was going to sing.

The brunette observed her friend carefully. Maybe it was the way Eden stuck to her, or the emotion in her eyes, but Sabina could sense something wasn't quite right. She ate slowly, wondering if she should ask Eden what was wrong. Then the moment Eden started tugging at her locks, a frown etched onto the Filipina's face. She was there when Eden cut her beloved long hair... The unsettling feeling in Sabina's gut only grew stronger. She would ask her friend later, she decided. She popped her last piece of chicken into her mouth. She hated when she didn't know anything.

Eden spoke up then. Pari's words clicked in Sabina's mind and she laughed-- mainly at herself. Unbelievable: she needed that explained.

"I see," she started, and was cut off by a man smoothly sliding into their group. She turned to look and burst out into a grin.

"Erik!" Sabina exclaimed happily. She leaned into his grasp. He was the only Harlot Sabina could truly call a friend; Kaia was a casual acquaintance at best; and she couldn't stand the mere sight of Rosalina. "I would hug you but I have my hands full at the moment." Her eyes, already bright from before, were now practically shining. When she turned to look at Pari though, the sparkle in them dimmed a little.

"Erik's right," she concurred. "Everyone's doing their best for their performance. Don't judge them for not being professionals." Annoyance seeped into her tone. She started on her sausages and offered one to Erik.

Hood Romance (Whole Song)

Van had been simply riding through the crowd as the festival continued on, listening to the beats he’d created in his head. Sure, he could have found someone or multiple people to hang out with but he rather enjoyed going around, speaking to those he knew. He’d be making his way over to find something to eat when the intercom would crackle to life, catching his attention. It would finally be time for the performers to make their way to the stage.

He’d make a small noise in response to hearing it but would head over anyway. All summer he’d kept himself busy by just making music. It was how he essentially kept himself out of trouble and it made for good practice if he was to ever able to take a step into the music industry.

He would reach the stage seeing some familiar faces. They weren’t all people he actually talked with but Van knew them enough after seeing them quite often around the halls. He’d saunter on towards on of the students who was running this.

“So uh, who is going first?” He’d ask her in which he’d get a pointed look in return. “You are.”

Van’s eyes would widen at the reply. “Oh shit. Okay. I’ll hurry on up there then.”

He’d turn around, placing his bike by the stairs on the stage before whipping his phone out and sending Lottie a quick text. ‘I’m performing in a few seconds! Hope to see you in the crowd!’ He hadn’t seen any of his equipment in the music room where he’d left it so he’d figured it had been taken out, which was his exact answer as he saw it already on stage in the middle. Van would make a noise of appreciation and hop up the steps, sending a huge wave to the forming audience as he made his way toward the middle.

He’d automatically turn on his music, letting it play through the speakers. Nothing but an introductory.

“What’s up everyone!” He’d greet as he got towards the mic, a huge smile on his face. “Good morning! How are we all doing today? I see some new faces so-“

Allow me to reintroduce myself my name is-

And just like that the speakers would boom, most likely waking those up who were still a bit drowsy. Van had always liked loud sounds. “My name is Van! Follow me on Instagram, Twitter, add me on Facebook. Hell, swipe right for me on Tinder. But that’s not what you’re here for and that’s not what I’m up here to do. So let’s get on it!”

The music would then cut off and immediately Van’s expression would change. Eyes sparkling with excitement and determination, his brows would furrow just slightly. Slowly but surely a small beat would come in and the audience would watch as Van took a step towards his piano. Like magic, his fingers would work out a quick melody which he would have recorded. Now playing the piano on repeat he’d go back to the other side and begin with creating even more of the song.

Anyone watching could see that this was his love, his passion.

It wouldn’t take long to watch his hands go towards his turntables and a scratch interrupt his music.

I simply must get through!

Sorry, you’re much too big. Simply impassable.

You mean impossible?

No, impassable. Nothing’s impossible-

Then just like that, the next song would come in. It held sultry tones, ones that a person would listen to during a chill night, smoking trees and watching stars. The sound drifted through the air, giving its’ all to whoever chose to listen and yet still forcing its way through to those who didn’t.

The song would be cut short and the third and final piece would make itself known. Definitely different from the first two, this beat was for sure on the faster-paced side. It held a happier kind of tone, meant to lift people up rather than get them to hunker down. The continuous tapping and pleasant pieces throughout it were warm. This was the sort of song for a summer day when one was with the very friends they held near and dear. Doing what they did best and taking the town by storm. Eventually, the song would come to an end and the harmonic hypnotism that Van made for his performance would be finished. He’d look out into the crowd and give a small bow followed by a wave. “Thank you!”

And with that, he’d make his way off stage, eager to find one of his friends.

Eden Summers

It was the tone in her best friend’s voice that caused Eden to clear her throat, the light air that was once surrounding them at the festival seemed to have slight tension now, something she couldn’t stand to be around. Eden parted her lips to relief some of the tension in the atmosphere, but just then the intercom screeched to life and her ears rang as the voice came through, the music lowering as the official who stood on the stage spoke through the microphone to announce the completion to begin.

Eden listened momentarily but they quickly had her attention at the sound of Van’s name being called out. Immediately her mood shifted, a wide spread growing across her full lips, her deep brown eyes glowing with admiration and a glint of pride.

“Van is going on first! I have got to get to the front of the stage!” Her arm dropped from Sabina’s and without another thought, she made her way through the thick masses of people who were walking towards the stage, giving a few loud excuses me and the occasional push if someone didn’t seem to hear her. She only stopped when she was halfway there, to turn back and look at Sabina and Erik, raising one hand to wave them to come on, she knew Sabina wanted milo but they could it after Van performed…right?

The short haired tech didn’t wait to see if the follow suit before she beelined to the front, her quick movements and attempts to squirm her slender frame between people causing the long shawl she had covering her mocha skin to hang off her shoulders, she didn’t seem to mind as she joined the already lively crowd, already cheering on the first contestant, just as he graced the stage, introducing himself.

“Let’s go, Vannn!
” Eden said at almost the top of her lungs, jumping on her tip toes although she was as close as she could be to the stage, her hyper body crashing into one that she wasn’t too familiar with, she paid them a soft sorry but the smile on her broad smile never wavering from her face.

“Really?” She heard a sultry voice scoff out beside her, and she turned her gaze to the face that belonged to it, realizing it was no other than Rosalina Gonzalez. Eden had no personal issues with the Latina harlot, but she knew that Sabina didn’t get along with the young lady, at all, so immediately a twinge of annoyance washed over her when she realized who she was accompanied with, Elijah Riley.

“Ooh, my bad king and queen.”
Eden retorted, giving a fake courtesy to both before correct standing upright.

“So, this is what you do at school, huh?” Her brown eyes cut from Rosalina to Eli with one brow cocked to hear his response, but just then she realized the music had stopped from the stage and Van was saying his salutations, she turned her attention back to the stage, cupping her hands over her mouth before letting out a yell of support.
