"Anything you can do, I can do better"

For the most part, the group was normal. A part of Jiji thought that all the other trial participants would be... well, she didn't know exactly what she expected. She just assumed that seeing the other people like her would be different. Maybe even a bit more exciting. Everyone kept to themselves, so far, at least. Three of the kids decided that, after introducing themselves, they were done with socializing and kept away from the crowd. If they didn't feel like talking, Jiji wouldn't make them.

She followed the Chauffer silently, briefly glancing from participant to participant. What made them like this? It definitely couldn't be hereditary, seeing as the group could paint a rainbow with their skin tones.

Glimpsing over her shoulder, she spotted a young girl walking alongside a teenager. Wasn't she a little too young to be here? Her eyebrows furrowed in concern. Jiji slowed her pace, letting the two catch up to her. Although it was clear the taller teen was taking care of little girl, Jiji couldn't help but feel protective over her.

"Hey," she spoke with a gentle smile, "How are things going over here?"

Sydney Allens

Sydney stared up at the figure that approached her as she was thinking about being able to touch bright colours. A girl, she guessed. Her guesses were proven correct when the girl spoke.

'How are things going over here?'

Sydney smiled. "Good. I got lost but Brian found me!" She was a bit absent-minded, looking around the place where Brian had led her. A big, blocky object stood nearby, a hum coming from it. Near one end of it, the colour changed into a bright yellow. A running vehicle.

"Is that a bus?" Sydney pointed towards it.

She had been sitting there for a few minutes but only saw a couple people join her so she made her way to where the chauffeur was standing. "You know you lost everyone else right?" Cyrah resisted layering on a bit more annoyance to her tone.

"I'm going back right now, I know how to do my job," He grabbed the "Medical Trial Participants" sign and marched back into the terminal.

"Obviously not ," Cyrah muttered under her breath.

Archer sprinted over to where he was supposed to be. He had been delayed by some weirdo trying to sell him something. It was the cliche and everything- sunglasses, farad, and trench coat, something you'd see in a kids anti-drugs film.
He found a sign saying "Medical Trail Participants" and ran over. He found a man holding a clipboard. "Name?" He stated, more then asked.
"Uh.. Archer Ferguson."
"Wait for others."
He glanced up. There was already a group. He tightened his mask, patted his pocket to ensure his stylus was still there. Then he walked over, seeing a bus. He walked toward that, filing next to a girl ridiculing a chauffeur . The man walked angrily back to the spot.

[div class=name]june levesque[/div]
[div class=role]blood manipulation[/div]
[div class=textcontainer][div class=textbox]Once the chauffeur bellowed his obnoxious announcement of haste, June suppressed an eye roll and began moving in the direction he disappeared towards, leaving one headphone in as he walked. Just as he set into motion however, the sensation of a chill and human contact brushing against the sleeve of his jacket stopped him dead in his tracks, immediately on alert as he glanced at the person beside him. She seemed roughly his age, with a shock of platinum hair and spattering of freckles that complemented her silver-hued eyes. He decided that she was pretty.

Once the girl explained why she suddenly felt the need to touch him, June relaxed the tiniest bit and let out the breath he was holding. Luckily, he wouldn't be needing to use his powers on anyone just yet. "Uh, yeah. That's fine," he consented, clearing his throat before continuing. "That asshole's basically sprinting, though, so don't blame me if we both end up stranded." The barista offered the rest of his arm to her and started forwards again, attempting to locate the head of the shithead chauffeur who most definitely did not have better places to be despite his claims.

All around them people rushed from their terminals, the young arrivals getting swarmed by the mass of travellers attempting to reach their loved ones as soon as possible. The crowd made it extra difficult to keep track of the chauffeur as the pair got bumped into left and right, and after nearly a minute of elbows getting jabbed into his ribcage, June had had enough.

"Hold on one second," he stopped and said to the girl whose name he still didn't know, forgetting to ask earlier on when she'd approached him. "If one more person touches me..." Pulling a tiny notepad and needle out of his back pocket, June took a deep breath and pricked his finger, allowing the blood to form a bead on the tip before setting to work on drawing one of the less taxing sigils his powers allowed. As soon as the final stroke was drawn, every ordinary human within a twenty meter radius paused in their steps as blood rushed to their heads, feeling woozy and mildly nauseous at the sudden biological phenomenon.

On a good day, June would feel mildly bad about making his fellow travellers potentially miss their appointments for the sake of his own comfort, but he really couldn't give a shit at the moment; he had a blind girl relying on him to get them to their destination in a place none of them were familiar with, and he'd be damned if they ended up falling behind because of some people who lacked manners. The barista also wouldn't normally use his powers so openly with a stranger beside him, but since she couldn't see what he was doing anyways, he figured it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

He did, however, definitely feel the consequences of using his magic in the way that he had, especially since it involved working through the barrier of flesh combined with a runic medium. The air around him suddenly felt a lot more suffocating, his breathing turning shallow as he shook his head to clear the dizziness. 'I played myself,' he mourned, despite noticing that he could now actually see the chauffeur making his way back towards them. "Okay, let's go," June said to the girl on his arm, lightly nudging her forward despite his own uneasy steps.

Crowds, they made the visually impaired young woman feel truly blind. All she saw - all she felt through the air particles around was a blur. She was unable to catch and make out figures other than the male next to her who kindly agreed to help. It was frustrating to have that sense she relied on every second to become ineffective. Serenity wanted nothing more to get out into open space. The blindness was starting to make her anxious.

At least he company of the male made her feel slightly better; a distraction to the lack of orientation. Judging by his deep voice, she’d assume he was at least a few years older. But Serenity herself knew that she was terrible and guessing one’s age. The young man offered his arm to get a better grip on. Serenity was grateful that June was willing to help her. The last thing she wanted was to get lost, miss the trial and make the trip halfway across the continent all but meaningless.

The two made their way across the airport floors, pushed through the dense crowd. Serenity allowed her visual capable counterpart to lead the way and she followed wordlessly and stumbled more than three times. She couldn’t tell if it was June’s feet or ones of other strangers. Regardless, with every stumble, she muttered an apology. June had stopped in his tracks abruptly, causing Serenity who was tagging along closely to collide into him. She could feel her cheeks heat up as she promptly took a step back while muttering yet another apology.

“Hold on one second. If one more person touches me...” the male said and Serenity hope he wasn’t referring to her. Although she could not see, the air manipulator could make out the shape as well as perceive the lower temperature of the thin metal objects and the boy’s movement as he pulled the objects form his pocket. Oddly enough the male pressed the needle, or what she suppose was, into one of his fingers before brushing it onto the notepad. Serenity couldn’t tell exactly what he was writing or even doing.

She was about to question him but somehow, the crowd around them slowed allowing the visionless young woman to regain her perception. It was no longer a fuzz now that everyone was oddly still. But as soon as it did, a mildly bearable migraine crept up the side or her head. The Blood Manipulator’s rune had some effects on her too, but it wasn’t as severe as what the other powerless humans felt. The male did something with his special little needle and notepad. Serenity didn’t know what exactly, but she strongly suspected that he did.

The young woman wasn’t sure if she had caused it unintentionally but she could feel the air leaving and entering June’s mouth become laboured and was unsure of the culprit of the boy’s sudden strain with breathing. Perhaps her headache which came out of the blue had played a part. At times, her air manipulation acting accordingly to her subconscious mind than conscious one. But most of the time, she had full control over her own abilities. Regardless of what the cause was, Serenity summoned oxygen particles to the male’s aid, supplying the molecules into his lungs. He most likely wouldn’t know what she’d done and Serenity would prefer to keep it that way. Her abilities being kept low-key. Through it all, Serenity had only inconspicuously raised two fingers at her sides as she continued following his lead.

However, while she was at it, a hand grabbed her bicep, instantly cutting the vitalising flow of oxygen as she she lost her focus. “Come on. Get a move. We do not have time!” It was the chaffuer. “Would you mind being a little more gentle?” Serenity protested in annoyance. The man pulled the blind girl towards the bus faster than her feet could manage. Serenity was not the very least pleased with the treatment. She hoped June was doing alright with his evident lightheadedness. Climbed up the steps of the coach and sat slightly nearer to the back of the vehicle and behind two kids. Brian looked at the woman and said “yeah everything is fine she got a little lost so I decided I’d help.” Brian looked to see the bus “yep that’s a bus” he grinned to Sydney. He looked back up to see the chauffeur walking towards him “We don’t have much time, we need to go!” The chauffeur said as he grabbed the back of his tricep. Brian was built for his age, not too muscular but enough to notice. The chauffeur tried to pull him but it was ineffective, Brian wasn’t moved until he moved himself Sydney next to him. “Cmon let’s get to the bus” he said gently.

Sydney followed Brian into the bus, and sat next to him near the back. Sydney liked the back of the bus, like a lot of kids, but she liked it because the bumpiness engaged her other, more useful senses.

"Thanks again for helping me." Sydney said to Brian, smiling. She had learned early in life to thank people for helping her, since she usually needed a fair amount of help.

Kira continued to stare outside of the bus. In her mind, she was lost in thought. There were alot of things bothering her in that moment. She was worried for her siblings and her grandparents. She was worried about herself, questioning whether this medical trial would really help her or not. When Kira was first told about it, they made it sound it like it was guaranteed to help and 'fix' Kira.

Her trance was broken when she heard a voice nearby her. Looking in the direction that the voice came from, Kira found herself looking at a boy about her age who was looking right back at her. It took her a moment to realize he was referring to her as 'beanie'. Kira gave a soft smile and nodded.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just kinda waiting for everyone, you know? I'm Kira. You?"

Kira shifted her body so she was facing the boy, placing her hands by her side.

"Sorry, it's the truth."

"Kira," Jaden repeated with a slight nod. It was a pretty name, but he'd probably never call her by it. "I'm Jaden."

He leaned against the window, positioning his legs so they took up the chair. "Pretty much the same. I thought we'd be moving by now, honestly." The message the Medical Trial organizers sent out made it seem like they were on a tight schedule, but, considering the chauffer just walked off the bus, it was safe to say it wasn't. Whatever. Hopefully, they would leave before that officer from before decides to check outside.

"So," Jaden began, wondering how to ask if beanie could do anything... unusual. "Why are you here? Doing the trial, I mean."

Archer climbed onto the bus. There was a fair amount of people on the bus, and he didn't like too much company. Being squished between two strangers didn't sound appealing, either. He went to about the center and found an empty row and plopped at the window seat.
He looked around, putting his hand on his stylus. There was a mix of people. Yet, despite all their differences, only one thought surfaced in his head.
Are any of them like me?
He sighed and leaned his head against the window. He'd probably find out soon enough.

[div class=role]blood manipulation[/div]
[div class=textcontainer][div class=textbox]June wasn't entirely sure where it came from, but all of a sudden, his breathing became far less labored and he was able to properly calm his heart rate as they walked. The rush of air didn't feel unnatural so much as unexpected, especially considering the lack of a draft in the stuffy building. He chalked it up to something aerodynamics related and left it at that.

Before he could move any closer towards the chauffeur, the despicable man stamped over and yanked the girl off of his arm, barking something about not having time. This dude was seriously getting on his nerves, and he fixed him with a glare that conveyed exactly that. "Calm it, you cumsock," he snapped, eyes narrowed. "We all volunteered to be here. We're not prisoners."

Regardless of his aggressive tone, June followed the chauffeur onto the bus, not-so-accidentally stepping on the guy's shoe as he found a seat in the middle a comfortable distance from the majority of the other participants. His mood had already been quite sour, but their particular dreadful host combined with the unanticipated use of his powers had quite officially sent any semblance of patience out the window. One other partipant who looked fresh out of middle school was seated relatively close by, seemingly with the same antisocial motives as himself.

June sighed as he stared out the window at the dismal scene of the airport they were leaving behind. If he was being entirely honest, he wasn't entirely sure why he agreed to this whole experiment in the first place. His powers didn't physically hinder him in any way despite posing a risk dare he use them recklessly, but when the time came to make a decision, he'd found himself booking a flight and sending in his registration forms. June supposed the powers themselves weren't the cause of his anxiety, but rather the isolation of being fundamentally different than everyone around him. The pressure to keep himself in check, the inability to experience life the way movies portrayed it, the nihilism from realizing just how fragile humans truly are---his abilities weren't worth that burden, especially at a time in his life where he was supposed to be enjoying all the freedoms and passions of his youth.

Cyrah sniffed the air, she could sense a very nature-y smell. She closed her eyes and inhaled the scent; it took her back to the weekend that she she went hunting with her family. They were having a shooting contest in the forest to see who could shoot a deer first. To the dismay of her brothers, Cyrah had won. They, of course, tried to thwart her victory with excuses as to why her win was unfair but for once, she was able to triumph. That was the day where she first felt the amazing feeling of winning, it was the first day that she got her father’s nod of approval. Unknowingly, she drifted into a rabbit hole of euphoric memories of winning.

Cyrah’s eyes snapped open to a piercingly bright light and she reflexively cringed away from it. She sat up and took in her surroundings, she was sitting on one of those leather chairs you see at the dentist’s and the room was white, white and more white. There was no furniture in sight, just the white walls and the white-tiled floor. “Welcome to this very special medical trial; you are not to speak of anything you see, hear, or experience during this to anyone outside of this facility. We have eyes everywhere so if you dare let a single peep escape your mouth, you won’t see the light of day ever again,” her eerie whisper paired with a heavy European accent sent shivers crawling down her spine. Cyrah blinked a few times and her eyes finally focused; the lady that had just delivered the irksome warning had a severe expression with a bun slicked back so tightly that it looked as if her hair might fall off at any moment. The lady swiveled her head robotically and looked everyone in the eye, when her eyes travelled to Cyrah’s, she just gulped and bobbed her head to the lady’s statement. “Good, now we’ve taken care of that. The acceptable ways to address me are Director and m’am. You must sign a contract saying that you are willingly participating in this,” As if on cue, a couple people appeared out of nowhere and handed everyone a contract and a pen, “I know we have a blind participant with us, they will make a verbal commitment instead. Cyrah’s hand shook as she penned her signature on the line at the bottom of her page. Everything had happened so quickly, one second she was sitting in the bus and the next second she had awoken in a new setting. If they could so seamlessly knock them out without any of the people on the bus noticing, what else could they do?

Sydney Allens

'Welcome to this very special medical trial; you are not to speak of anything you see, hear, or experience during this to anyone outside of this facility. We have eyes everywhere so if you dare let a single peep escape your mouth, you won’t see the light of day ever again.'

Sydney opened her eyes, unsure of where she was. She wasn't really listening to the things being said, she wasn't entirely lucid. The feeling reminded her of when she had her tonsils out last year, right when she woke up. Was the trial going to be like that? But where was the bus?

Now someone was handing her a clipboard and pen. The lady was talking again. 'You must sign a contract saying that you are willingly participating in this.'

"Oh." Sydney looked up. "I can only read braille cause I can't see a lot of things. But that's okay. This will make me see better, right?" She handed the clipboard and pen back to the person it came from. "Can you sign it for me? I'm under 18." Sydney lingered for a moment on the fact that she really didn't have to say that. But everything was fuzzy right now. The man with the clipboard disappeared and didn't come back, and Sydney relaxed in the big chair, feeling sleepy. "How long do you think this'll take?" She asked to no one in particular, yawning.

Archer blinked, and found himself squinting, holding his arm to his head. "Jesus Christ..." He whispered. What just happened?
His eyes adjusted. He was in some sort of a very bright room, in a chair. His other hand went to his pocket instinctively. His stylus remained. Though he never usually felt comfort in it, he felt it now.
The sound of someone clearing her throat. He looked up. A woman stood before him. She was holding a clipboard and pen.
'Welcome to this very special medical trial; you are not to speak of anything you see, hear, or experience during this to anyone outside of this facility. We have eyes everywhere so if you dare let a single peep escape your mouth, you won’t see the light of day ever again.'
It was so dam n robotic it sounded like she rehearsed it in the mirror. But he wouldn't dare say.
They didn't speak. There was nothing to be said; the clipboard explained it. He took it and signed it. If I'm gonna die, might as well make it quick, he sighed inwardly.

"Well...."

It should be fine to tell him, right? I mean, he might be here for the same reason I'm here

Kira took her phone out of her pocket and held it flat on the top of her palm. It began to float in the air, spinning slowly in a circle.

"I'm not like other people. So, with any luck, this trial will help fix me, in a way I guess."

The phone fell down back into Kira's hand and she placed it back in her pocket, sitting back in her chair. She took another glance out of the window, wondering where the chauffeur was and where the others were. She noticed that the young girl and boy weren't here, as well as a couple others. There were some new faces that had arrived without word, but she didnt want to bother them. Kira looked back towards Jaden.

"How about you, if you dont mind."

Kira kept her soft smile on her face. She crossed one leg over the other and let her hands rest in her lap. As she listened, she could smell the air around her. It was, different. It was somewhat like being outside in the forest, away from the city. The air smelled really fresh, if that was a thing. Kira could feel herself drifting off.

I thought I got enough rest on the plane....

She tried her best to keep herself awake, almost staring at Jaden with a deadpan expression.

Kira's eyes opened and she was greeted by a bright light, blinding her with white. Her eyes immediately squinted as they adjusted. Kira's vision eventually cleared up and she was suddenly aware of her new setting. They werent in the bus anymore. Looking around, Kira could see familiar faces, the ones she saw back at the airport and on the bus. She noticed that everyone was seated in the same leather chair, all of them arranged. Kira heard a voice speak up, a rather harsh one for that matter. Looking in the general direction, she could see the older woman who called themselves the 'Director'.

Fully awake and aware, Kira sat up in her chair a little, in time to see another person approach her with a clipboard and pen in hand. She took the clipboard and briefly read through the contract as she continued to listen to the Director's explanation. Kira signed the form, handing back the clipboard and pen to the other person and then sat back in her chair, waiting for their next instructions.

“I hope not too long,” Cyrah whispered in response to Sydney. The tension in the air was stifling and she just wanted to get a move along and get into the simulation. She looked down the line of chairs; there weren’t many people left that hadn’t woken up yet. Cyrah cracked her knuckles to try and work off her nerves. Then she took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and visualized pushing away all the worries out of her mind until it was a blank slate. When she opened her eyes, a weird numbness fell over her. Suddenly, she didn’t feel nervous or scared anymore, she felt nothing.

The air particles were becoming denser as the vehicle started. The air manipulation could sense it, feel it and smell it. The air, filled with chemicals that were of foreign chemicals put the blind young woman instantly on guard and slightly alarmed. Feeling for any ledge connected to the windows, she attempted to open them, to get some fresh air but to no avail. “Driver! Driver! ” She exclaimed as she jolted from her seat and began navigating her way towards the front of the coach. The chemicals, although it gave her a comfortable feeling was still alarmingly foreign. But the sedation worked her way into her system before she toppled to the side, onto someone in their seat.

She could not see but it was bright. Glaring even despite her blindness. Connecting to the air, in an instant, she was quick to discover that she was in some kind of lab and was seating in some sort of chair that could be found in the dentist clinic. A scowl formed on the girl’s face as the director explained where they were. She wasn’t too happy that they brought her here without her consent.

But it was a good things she wasn’t impulsive. Serenity asked about the contents of the contract and once she was contented she said, “I, Serenity Vaughn, give my full consent to the trial simulations.” The trial was suppose to get her to know what she was and the connections that her powers led to the lack of sight. The Doctors never could diagnosed the cause of her blindness and Serenity was desperate for answers. However, as soon as she said those words, she became to feel extremely sleepy.

[div class=textcontainer][div class=textbox]June groaned as a searing pain ripped through his skull, the telltale sign of a migraine on the cusp of rearing its head if he moved too quickly. He blinked his eyes open, only to wince at the bright lights surrounding him where there used to be the interior of a bus. 'What the hell happened?' he wondered, utterly confused as to how he managed to teleport into such a place. Next to him, a line of chairs revealed the rest of the participants of the medical trial, most of whom had already woken up before him.

"Fuck me," he groaned, rubbing his temples as his eyes adjusted to the brightness. The room around him was sterile personified, not a speck of dust floating in sight. His gaze landed on the most anal-looking woman he'd ever seen, with her hair pulled into the tightest bun possible and her mouth set into a tight, straight line.

“Welcome to this medical trial," she spoke in a monotone, eye contact unwavering. "You must maintain full confidentiality of anything you experience during this trial to anyone outside of this facility. We will know if you do not comply, and you will not like the consequences."

The threat wasn't lost on June, but he wasn't in the right mood to bite back at her like he usually would. "Yeah, whatever. Who would I even tell," he grumbled, irritation rising in his gut. "Just give the damn waiver." He didn't have too many friends who had stuck around back home, and his family was out of the picture from the moment he landed his ass in jail for the first time. Even if he did have anything to spill, he had no one to spill it to.

The woman fixed him with a stern look that unsettled him just the tiniest bit before laying down a sheet of paper and a pen in front of him. "You may address me as 'Director' or 'Ma'am'," she instructed as June skimmed over the contract. The text was dense and incredibly detailed, far too complex for his exhausted brain at the moment. With a sigh, he gave up on reading the fine print and signed his name at the bottom.

Ji-jae Li

"Anything you can do, I can do better"

Ji-Jae awoke in a starkly white room. She couldn’t remember what happened. She had spoken to the little girl… had she even reached the bus? Her mind buzzed trying to recollect her memories.

Why was she here? Was it a hospital? It felt like one, but she couldn’t tell for sure. Her vision was spotty, trying to adjust to the bright light.

Her first instinct was to stand up, but she couldn't. Her body refused to move. She had that same feeling from when you just woke up from a nap; so disoriented, that you aren’t quite sure whether or not you’re in control of your body.

A voice snapped Jiji to attention, “Welcome to this very special medical trial; you are not to speak of anything you see, hear, or experience during this to anyone outside of this facility. We have eyes everywhere so if you dare let a single peep escape your mouth, you won’t see the light of day ever again.”

“Excuse me?” Jiji spoke up, her eyebrows furrowed together. She still wasn’t quite sure what was happening. Jiji thought about asking for a lawyer, but her mind was still shaken from awakening. Barely able to even feel the pen in her fingers, she signed the contract, not thinking much of it.

The Director seemed appeased, well, however appeased somebody with a face made of stone could be. She nodded and the people who had given them the contract began wheeling them away one by one through an automatic door that looked as if it was part of the wall. Cyrah would have much rather walked instead of being treated like a baby but she said nothing. She was wheeled into another nondescript, empty, white room where a nurse was already waiting for her. She looked around, expecting other patients to be wheeled in but none came. “Give me your arm please,” the nurse beckoned. Cyrah offered her arm and the nurse wiped her shoulder with an antiseptic wipe. “I’m going to inject you with this medicine that will put you ‘in’ the simulation. I’d recommend that you lay down as soon as I finish administering this, given the strength of the medicine,” Cyrah nodded. The nurse took the needle and injected it in her shoulder, then Cyrah layed down. “Any injuries in the simulation will carry on to real life so be very careful.”
